Mi marido tiene familia Wednesday 11/1/17 Capítulo 51: What Part of "I Want to Be Alone" Doesn't Robert Understand?

Well, we are at the half way mark with this episode and I have enjoyed them all.

Blanca is complaining about her conversation with Julieta to Imelda. Julieta was just fuming! She knows that Julieta is going through a bad time but she didn't do anything to her. Was she angry because Juan Pablo was there? Imelda tells her to tell Juan Pablo that Julieta is home. Blanca is afraid they are never going to get along very well. They only want to support Julieta but she won't let them. Imelda asks her if she did not say that she was going to be a different kind of mother-in-law; that she was not to make the same mistakes Imelda did? (Del plato a la boca se cae la sopa) Don't count your chickens. . . Imelda tells Blanca that she needs to go and be nice to Julieta.

Blanca goes to tell Roberto that Julieta arrived and was asking for him. He is asleep and she watches him and pats his head. He is dreaming of being the little boy curled up on the floor who was calling out for his mother in the orphanage. He awakens and tells Blanca about the dream and how glad he is to now have found her and not have to look for her anymore. She tells him Julieta is home. They hug.

Marisol and Frida say good night to Xavi. Frida leaves. She tells him how Frida said she was happy to have a friend like Xavi. Xavi says the feeling is mutual. It really means a lot to him. He would be all alone shut up in his room but they have brought joy to his life. Marisol smiles. Xavi tells Marisol that he really has a lot of affection for her. She adds that she feels the same for him. Later, she brings him some food (a delicious soup) and a brochure a friend designed for Xavi to hand out as a souvenir for his fans. He thinks they are great. They also made a list of all of his fans so they can come and bring more with them. What can he do for her in return? She tells him that he just needs to sing. Marisol thinks he just needs to have faith and take advantage of his situation. He is going to do it for her. She has been a blessing in his life and his passion has returned. One thing leads to another and she lets him kiss her. After enjoying the kiss, she bolts saying that it was not the right thing for them to be kissing. He apologizes but it just felt right.

Audifaz confesses the truth to his family. He admits that he lied to them. He was afraid that they would be ashamed of him. Lolita surmises then that he is not a manager. No, he is not. He is a jack of all trades (master of none). Polita and Aristóteles assure him that no matter what he does, they are always proud of him. He wanted to be a different kind of father for Aristóteles but he ended up being somebody who wanted to be what he wasn't. He leaves. Later he speaks to Polita on the stairs where she tells him what he means to her. She does not care if he is rich or poor, successful or a failure because he rescued Polita when her mother abandoned her. She was never going to believe in love again but he changed that. She will always love him. He manages a smile and they cuddle. Soon Aristóteles joins them.

Linda is getting ready to leave work kissing a photo of Hugo on her phone. To her surprise Cornelio is there. He is waiting for her with a big sunflower and plenty of compliments. He wants to give her a lift home. She tells him that he is too intense for her. She is sick of him calling. She wants to be won over not chased down. She leaves. He leaves the sunflower on her desk ready to fight for her another day.

Robert arrives home and wants to reconnect with Julieta. He will fix supper. She wants to help. No, she can rest. He wants to spoil her. They do their "magnet" thing at Julieta's request and are soon in each other's arms.

Ignacio is having a problem getting in contact with Begoña who is having a fine old time with Xavi's manager drinking and kissing. She wants to answer her phone but the manager tells her not to bother with that "kept man" Ignacio. They continue kissing.

Robert has prepared a delicious meal of eggplants stuffed with mushrooms and ground beef with a little queso fresco on top. (Looks good to me and far superior to what I had for supper) Everything is calm until he dares to ask Julieta why she threw out the wedding invitations. She tells him that they got soaked with jamaica water. She tries not to reveal what really happened but as he continues to press for more details she lets it all out: she went to show the invitations to Blanca and Imelda. They said the invitations were horrible and criticized her for everything. They were responsible for spilling the jamaica water all over them. So, she had to throw them out and is ordering new ones. She sounds aggravated relating the tale and Robert asks if she was angry. She says no but Robert wonders because of the loudness of her voice. She is almost shouting at him. She insists she is not angry. She needs to leave the room and walks off into their bedroom. He follows her saying they have a communication agreement. She promptly reminds him that he already broke it when he hid very important information from her. He moans he doesn't like things to be this way and to be fighting with her. She insists that she is not fighting. He says she needs to hear how she is talking to him. He knows that she is going through a real difficult time but . . . Julieta cuts him off and says that for that very reason it is better that they don't talk right now. It is better that she stay quiet in the bedroom. He decides they should have supper in silence. Julieta announces she is not hungry.

Marisol is having kisser's remorse and is very upset. She confesses to Daniela and Linda that Xavi Galán her idol kissed her. She wasn't looking for it. She never thought that a star like Xavi could be interested in her. She is not sure if she really likes him or if she just admires him. Linda makes a point of mentioning that at least THEY have, unlike her, men who would die for them.

Robert is so distracted by Julieta that the food burns in the oven. The smell brings her out of the bedroom and he asks if she wants to go out to eat. No, she is not hungry. She is going to go to sleep. Robert still doesn't get the message that she wants to be alone and asks if she is going to go on with her "attitude". Julieta says she doesn't have an attitude. She is tired. He then reminds her that there are two of them in the relationship and she is only thinking of herself. She is only thinking of herself? He does not know how wrong he is. She tells him that he is being very unfair. Next, when she asks him if he has not realized everything she has sacrificed to be with him, it is clear she has hit a raw nerve. He didn't know being with him was a sacrifice. She asks him to just look at what they are living through. Is it no big deal for him? She feels like he has lied about wanting to be with her. He has not said what is really important to him or what he really needs. He says that the only thing he has said is that no matter what happens everything will be fine while they are together. She does not want to take his happiness away from him. She does not get along well with his family. She can't have children. It is horrible what she is feeling. Julieta leaves the apartment and Robert follows her. The argument spreads to the hallway as Robert tells her not to go and Julieta just wants to leave. Little do they know that Marisol, Linda and Daniela are in the hallway hiding from their view. Robert reminds her that they always solve their problems by talking them through. Julieta is in no mood to talk. She wants to be alone. From the first day she met him the only thing she wanted to do was make him happy but now she feels like she isn't making him happy or will be able to in the future. He insists that she makes him happy. She feels like she is drowning. She needs for him to leave her alone. He left her alone all afternoon. He won't leave her alone now. Period. She tells him he has no reason to be talking to her like that. They are becoming more distant every day due to his family, the loss of the baby, watching him suffer because he wanted the baby so much, what his mother and grandmother want her to be. Just knowing that she cannot give him a child doesn't give her any peace. She will not be able to get pregnant. She turns and leaves as Robert follows her down the stairs.

Linda, Marisol and Daniela overhear it all. Linda wonders if their mother knows that Juieta cannot have children. That will be a big deal. Marisol and Daniela tell Linda not a word to anybody about Julieta not being able to have a baby.

Ana and Julián are out drinking. He has concluded that they have both dedicated their lives to lying. Don't they deserve something real? Ana doesn't think they deserve to be happy. Maybe he doesn't have money but he will do whatever to be worthy of her. She said she wasn't ready for love. He will give her all the time she needs. He tells her out of great friendships the best loves are born. They dance.

Xavi apologizes to Marisol for the kiss. They agree to be friends and what happened today will not happen again. Of course, Blanca has to appear and break up the conversation.

Tulio is not pleased that Ana's driver can't/won't tell him where Ana is.

Julieta is in her car ready to go. Robert is there telling her not to go anywhere so they can solve their problems. She tells him it isn't as easy as he thinks. He asks why not. She just can't put up with his family. She just can't put up anymore with his mother, his grandmother and his sisters. She has tried but she cannot. When she met him it was just was him by himself, a man with other ideas. Everything has changed. He has changed his priorities. She is not sure that she that she wants to change hers. She does not want to be there. She does not want to fight anymore with him. Robert asks her to stay. No, she has to go. Julieta drives off. Robert is left sitting on the curb thinking.

Robert now has made it up to the roof for more thinking about Julieta. There he runs into Xavi. They commiserate about their love lives. Xavi always put his career first so he is left alone without anybody. Robert says he was very successful in his time. Xavi says now as he makes a second run at it, he doesn't want to be alone anymore. Robert loves his career but nothing really works for him if he is not with Julieta. At the end of his life he does not see myself as a millionaire or famous but he does see himself with
her and loving her. Xavi hopes he can find someone to love as strongly. Robert thinks that life has no meaning without love. Xavk believes that Robert and Julieta will find a solution to their problem. A love as strong as theirs won't end so easily. If Robert lets him, Xavi would like to sing a song at Robert's wedding. Robert will invite him if there is a wedding.

Julieta drives around thinking about her and Robert. Gabriel calls and needs to talk to somebody. She tells him it is a bad time for her. He needs someone to talk to. She goes to see him.

Tulio tries to call Ana. She is not answering. He gets a busy signal She is still drinking and dancing. He has the driver call her (under the threat of getting fired) and put it on speakerphone so he can hear what Ana says. They only get the busyntone again. Tulio grans the driver by the arm and tells him he better find her. They leave.

Julieta talks with a very confused Gabriel. He cannot believe he is in love with Daniela. Julieta tells him he has all the symptoms. He isn't thinking, he can't concentrate, he can't stop thinking about her. Whenever she sees him he has new bruises. He insists that Daniela is not his type. Julieta tells him people fall in love with those they would never imagine falling in love with. Love is something we cannot control. He won't accept it but then why is he concerned about Daniela's life? Julieta explains that when you love somebody the most important thing to you is that they be well and the worst thing is if they are not happy. She tells Gabriel to go find Daniela and to tell her that he likes her. Gabriel admits that he is afraid of the very idea but then he really does like her. Julieta tells him it is very hard to find love but sometimes you just have to let it go. She admits she is having a crisis with Robert and does not know how to find her way out of it. Sometimes just everything changes. She is not sure if it is a crisis that will pass. Yes, she already told him how she feels. That is why she had to get out of the house. She is thinking about her wedding next week and after all of this, she is not so sure about it.

Daniela is with her sisters. Linda tells her that she should tell Benjamín the truth that she likes him. Daniela is not too sure because she does not want América to suffer. Linda reminds her that it was América who started it all by hooking up with Benjamín. Daniela is not at fault for anything. Linda notices Marisol is very pensive. She says that she and Xavi have decided to be friends. Linda asks if that is friends with benefits. No, just friends.

Later, Robert looks for Julieta in their bedroom but she has not returned.

Catalina talks to Hugo about never having seen her Julieta not strong before. All Hugo can think of is if Julieta does not end up with Robert then technically they won't have to pay him back the money Hugo lost. Catalina is not impressed with his line of thinking and tells him to start thinking about what a horrible thing his sister has been going through. Catalina tells Diana that she has changed due to Julieta's experience. Diana is not sure that she doesn't just want Julieta's money and so is taking this opportunity to get close to her. Diana reminds her that everyone in the house says they are going to change but nothing happens. Diana says (Chango viejo no aprende maroma nueva) (an old monkey doesn't learn new tricks) "You can't teach an old dog new tricks." Catalina is left wondering if Diana called her a monkey.

Ana and Julián are still having a grand old time as he plies her with liquor, kisses and sweet nothings.

Tulio has the driver driving him all around. The driver will not take him to where Ana might be. He says he only takes Ana shopping or to Imelda's. Tulio doesn't understand why the driver is covering for her. Sooner or later Tulio will find out the truth.

Amalia is rehearsing. She gets Enzo to give her a lift home. She is not happy that Enzo's cousin will be coming along for the ride. She is less happy to find out that Enzo's cousin is Aurelio who just happens to be Belén's ex. Amalia is not exactly kind. He wants to see Belén. Amalia doesn't know why after the way he cheated on her. Aurelio says that is all a part of the past. He gives Amalia a business card and asks her to give it to Belén and to tell her he wants to talk to her. Amalia thinks it is better to go home by herself since one of her princes just turned into a toad.

Tulio is waiting for Ana when she gets home. He does not believe she went for a walk and for a drink by herself. He warns her that if she cheats on him, he will make sure everyone knows the monster she is.

Julieta returns home. She covers a sleeping Robert on their bed and goes to sleep on the couch. The next morning, Robert awakens alone and looks for Julieta. She is sleeping on the couch. She wakes up. Robert wants to talk. She says not now. She needs more time but does not know how much time she is going to need. It is like a puzzle and she does not want to make things worse. He wants to help her put the puzzle together.

Blanca is making breakfast saying she is worried about Juan Pablo and Julieta. She has to do something to help them. What does she have to do? Eugenio reminds her that staying focused on her own business is all she has to do. Blanca thinks that her son's problems are their problems, too. Eugenio tries to convince her that they are having to deal with a delicate matter and they will have to solve it for themselves not by a "psychologist baker." He announces that he is prohibiting her from sticking her nose in their business this very instant. Blanca tells him she is a little old for him to prohibit her from doing anything. He is a baker, not a policeman. Eugenio then adds that the food isn't going to turn out good if she is cooking it while she is angry. Blanca smiles and tells him he food is for him.

At breakfast, Imelda wants the family to stick together (Frida says like the Pancho López family!) because Julieta and Robert need them. They also have to get Julieta interested in getting pregnant again. Eugenio reminds Blanca that that is none of their business. While only trying to be helpful, Daniela lets it out that Julieta will not be able to have any children. Shock!!!

Comments:
Robert was maddening insisting that they talk when Julieta was not up to it and then criticizing her for her tone, etc. How can he expect that Julieta would be/could be all calm to discuss these matters? I was happy that she let him know how hard it has been for her with his family along with the miscarriage and the bad new about not being able to have more children. He does not seem to get that the miscarriage and the bad pregnancy news although painful for him, are not happening to him personally or his body but to Julieta and her body. He could easily leave her and leave the problems behind. She cannot do that. Robert has a lot to learn.

Eugenio had the best advice which he has given Blanca before: Mind your own business.

Thank you, Jarifa, for the recap! Great title, too.

Unless you know someone who has suffered a miscarriage and the aftermath, I think most people do not know what Julieta is going thru. And then there are all her hormone levels going crazy, again, as they readjust. Poor thing! She needs space and time to process and to grieve. The Córsegas are smothering her. She truly is drowning.

I really liked that scene with Gab and Juls. Go Team Gabriel/Dani!

Cornelio? Really? You're still into Not-so-Linda?

Hypothetical convo:
Anyone: The world will end tomorrow.
Imelda: I want great grand children.
Anyone: You have terminal stage four cancer and one week to live .
Imelda: I want great grandchildren!
Anyone: The house is on fire and we need to get out!
Imelda: I want great grandchildren!!
😜😜😜

Sweet scene with Familia Audifaz in the stairs...so much love in that little family and no money.
Julian/Ana/Tulii=FFWD! So much money in that little family and no happiness or real love. (Was this the first time we have ever seen Ana smile???)

Jarifa, one of the many reasons your recap was amazing was your honest and straightforward ability to get to the heart of this very sad episode. "He does not seem to get that the miscarriage and the bad pregnancy news although painful for him, are not happening to him personally or his body but to Julieta and her body". Perfectly stated.

Loved "kisser's remorse".

"She feels like she is drowning". Robert is failing to realize that silence is golden. In fairness, he and Julieta do seem to have used frequent communication to navigate the course of their everyday lives. They seemed to know how each other is feeling and been very respectful. Being an intelligent man, Robert's inability and yes, reluctance to give Julieta her space is frustrating. Now is not the time to talk but to step back and let Julieta sort through her pain.

Julieta's world is crashing down on her. There were too many changes and too much loss in too short a time. Robert's family's intrusiveness, the miscarriage and lost hope for the future are almost unbearable.

"He is dreaming of being the little boy curled up on the floor who was calling out for his mother in the orphanage". That little actor breaks my heart.

“She does not care if he is rich or poor, successful or a failure because he rescued Polita when her mother abandoned her”. I loved the group hug (with Ari) on the stairs. They have their issues but their affection is evident at every turn. Audi would not have been able to survive without Polita. She is his life and his air. She elevates him at every turn. One of several unsung heroes here.

"eggplants stuffed with mushrooms and ground beef with a little queso fresco" had me salivating last night Jarifa!

“Ana and Julián are out drinking. He has concluded that they have both dedicated their lives to lying. Don't they deserve something real” Uhhh, nopis. You don’t. Scowl.

Tulio scares me. Bitter, angry and crazed is not a good combination. The poor driver has my sympathy. Tulio threatens him and Ana disrespects and dismisses him.

Corny, Linda, Bruno…who cares?! “All Hugo can think of is if Julieta does not end up with Robert then technically they won't have to pay him back the money Hugo lost”. I’m now throwing Hugo in with this selfish lot. Amalia is on the perimeter but bought herself some time with “Amalia thinks it is better to go home by herself since one of her princes just turned into a toad”.

doris, "Unless you know someone who has suffered a miscarriage and the aftermath, I think most people do not know what Julieta is going thru". Very, thoughtful comments of everything Julieta is going through. I laughed at your Imelda/Anyone conversation. I'm glad you are here with us!

So Bielen's husband is back. Sort of...I have been waiting for a good storyline for this great actress and it looks like it may have arrived.

Mari and Xavi were so sweet. I give those kisses a 9.5...

Jarifa, this was splendid. Truly. Thank you.

Diana

Jarifa: Loved the title of the recap ROFLOL.

LOL that Begone-ia was poniendo los cuernos a Icknacio. Can't wait to see Ick go crawling back to Marisol, and by golly, she better kick him to the curb.

Thanks Jarifa! Wow halfway already. It feels like we just started to me.

I like how this episode had a little bit of everyone included and the story moved along for some characters.

I agree with both of you Jarifa and Diana: Julieta needs time alone to just think. I agree with her in that. I feel like she just lost something so important and life is still moving too fast around her. I’m sure at this point she just feels like everything is going wrong and can’t see how it will go right because of her insecurities....again. Robert is so sure they’re going to make it. Together. As they always have and I understand he loves her but he needs to let her breathe and feel what she feels. (Nicely picked the title, Jarifa)

I also appreciated Audifaz and his family’s storyline so much. I think it’s amazing that they’re such a close family. Despite what he think Audifaz is an excellent father and husband. Sure he may not have a great job but he’s trying. He treats Polita with love and respect. And he raised a son who has never complained about how they never have money/anything to eat and who isn’t embarrassed of his father.

Well it looks like Julian and Ana are going to become something more than friends. I feel the same way about them,Diana *shudders* also yes! Sort of more of Belen's story. At least we actually met her ex-husband so that’s got to be a sign we’ll learn more of that story soon.

I loved the sister moments in this episode. The three Córcega sisters being there to support each other are moments I have missed. I hope we see more.

I really love this relationship between Gabriel and Julieta. You don’t see a lot of male/female platonic relationships on tv these days. I’m glad she got him to admit his feelings for Daniela. Finally! Now he just had to tell her. How disappointing was it when the next scene was Dani saying yes she does like him....Benjamin......noooo! Well she does have to close that chapter. I just hope it’s quick.

Did anyone else feel that Daniela telling the family about how Julieta can’t have kids was out of character? She just said that they shouldn’t tell anyone and she just threw it out the window. Does she not know her own family? They’re not going keep this to themselves.

Ignacio getting what he deserves. Ha! Being cheated on as well. How the tables have turned.

I’m ready for this Xavi and Marisol story to develop further. How could he not like you Marisol? You’re an admirable amazing woman!

-Jackie

I just want to know where I can watch episode now that Univision is no longer on Verizon :(

What a bummer! Ann, short of changing cable service providers, the only other place I know of is Univisions subscription service online..

Jackie, the scene between Gabi and Julieta was nicely done and yes, you seldom see men and women in the "real" friends zone!

You bring up an interesting point about Dani spilling the secret. It would have been so easy for the writers to have Linda do it, wouldn't it? I'm not quite sure Dani intended to do so but I think she was in the moment and being an honest person, it just came out. Being forewarned, I feel the family has been handed yet another opportunity to tread very, very lightly. While seemingly impossible for Blanca and Imelda, I certainly hope they try. I am relieved in a way as now Julieta won't need to be subjected to further remarks about children in the future.

Diana

Jarifa, you never cease to impress...what a wonderfully written recap!

I agree with everyone that Robert was a little overbearing and needs to give Julieta time. As a doctor, he should know or be able find out exactly what Julieta is going through physically and emotionally..as long as he doesn't go to Daphne for info.

Doris, Love you alternate conversation...rings so true of Imelda.

Jackie, yes, I thought it was out of character for Dani, but I'm glad it was her and not Lina who spilled the beans. It would have sounded horrible coming from Linda and Idon't think everyone would have believed her so quickly.

Busy morning..more later...

Thanks Jarifa!!!

I think Dani was trying to help Juli and Rob because Blanca was going off about getting Juli to want to be pregnant again. I think she just wanted them to stop with the pressure so felt had to tell truth. Plus, she had overheard Juli complain about her mom and abuela and how much they want a child.

The fact that Blanca and Imelda were talking about getting Juli to want to be pregnant again was so annoying. No space or empathy.

I loved the Gabi and Juli scene. I'm hoping that the reason Dani is uncomfortable going after Ben is because deep down she wants Gabi.

FF Linda

Beg with that ugly promoter over Icky? I guess once she got him she lost interest--just like the worker warned Icky.

Xavi and Mari don't make a good couple to me. If he gets his career on track he will have to travel a lot and Mari can't leave Frida. I don't see it ultimately working out.

Thanks for another excellent insightful recap, Jarifa! 2 extremely sweet couples now: Marisol-Xavi and Dani-Gabriel. I wonder what will happen when Marisol finds out that the restaurant where Xavi is performin is the one her ex manages--and that Xavi and Ignacio have become friends of sorts. ITA that Robert is kind of behaving like an idiot with Julieta. I agree with Jackie et al that Gabi and Julieta actually helped each other.

Also, I feel bad for Ana's driver. I wish he would give her up to Tulio already and find himself a better job. All he gets is grief.

Thanks, everyone for your kind comments.

doris, I love your hypothetical conversation between Imelda and Anyone. It is so pathetic that Imelda and Blanca see Julieta basically as a walking uterus. Will Imelda be telling Roberto to find a new woman who can give him kids? Or has she learned her lesson with the Ana/Tulio mess?

Diana, I am hoping that Diana's ex Aurelio makes contact with her ASAP despite Amalia's interference.

Jackie, I so enjoyed Ignacio being on the receiving end while Begoña was in no hurry to contact him. Ha! Ha!

RgvChick, ITA right back at you! Robert's complaints to Juieta about her being angry, etc. ring so empty because he has no idea what she is going through. The writers are really good on this one. The "perfect" couple sure has a ways to go.

Carvivlie, I agree that Dani was trying to be helpful since the "whole family" ( directed by Imelda) was talking about trying to support Julieta and Robert (in the Imelda way, of course). She got snookered into the moment.

SpanProf, those scenes with Gabriel and Juieta were some of the best last night.

Diana Carvivlie Rgv Chick : Hmm yes I can see now that Dani was just trying to help. I can see how at first she thought that it was best to keep it to themselves but then with everything the family was saying she knew she had to be direct with them so they could stop. So here's to hoping it was for the best.

Carvivlie: I feel so sorry for the driver too. He seems so stressed out all the time, but I assume he does get paid well so yeah...
About Marisol and Xavi- you're right Marisol would never leave Frida to travel the world or expose her to the media and what not. If the writers want to be clever (which they've done a great job so far) they could make it a plot twist and Xavi gives up his music career. Not because he's not successful, he knows he'll always love music, but he feels its time to settle down and he wants to do so with Marisol and Frida. But who knows. I suppose the remaining 50 episodes will tell us the rest of their story.

-Jackie

Jackie: I think Xavi and Marisol could have a good life with Xavi giving piano lessons in the afternoon and singing at a bar or restaurant in the evening, and with Marisol becoming the best catalogue sales person at Cklass.

The comments here just now reminded me of something. Many decades ago, I always heard that doctors should never treat their own family members because they are too emotionally connected to them. Makes it difficult to think rationally, practically, etc. Maybe Robert is a classic example of forgetting his medical professionalism because he is as good as married to Juls. Just a thought.

Oh noes, I want Xavi and Mari to be together and had not thought about a career reboot taking him on the road. Maybe he will become a songwriter, not so much travel. He seemed inspired and starting a new song last night, after El Beso.

Xavi's piano, sitting on the roof of the building under a tarp but totally exposed to wind, rain, temperature changes, etc., is a major telenovela beanie hat moment every time I see it. All it would take is a side-blowing rain to ruin it. 😜😜😜
