Mi marido tiene familia Monday 12/11/17 Capítulo 76: The Intransigence of the “Machista Old World Order”

Sadly, tonight I heard The “últimos capítulos” announcement for the first time which was a reminder that we are on capítulo 76 of only 102.

Anyway, on with the story . . .

Robert is at the orphanage. He is talking to his mother on the phone. She is in in tears but overall is fine. She is going to stay with her sisters for while. He misses her and she misses him and his sisters. She needs them to understand her. He will not come to see her because he understands that she needs her space. By the way, Eugenio misses her, too. Blanca sadly laughs and tells Robert that Eugenio is a different matter. She loves Juan Pablo and wants him to tell her daughters she loves them too. Robert reminds her that they all miss her a lot and will all be waiting for her when she is ready to come back. The phone call ends and Robert is looking so sad that Dave comes over to give him a hug.

Bruno talks Linda into coming over to Julieta’s apartment amd gives her the old song and dance act about them not being able to tell anyone that they are novios. Linda is sick of their relationship being kept a secret. He blames it all on Julieta. He promises he will make it public in less than a week without realizing that Julieta had been there listening the whole time. They kiss and Linda tells him that he has one week. With that, Julieta appears and surprises the both by saying they aren’t going to need a week.

Gabriel visits Daniela in her workshop and gives her a new wood cutter. She thinks he should be saving his money but accepts it happily remarking it is going to make her work go much faster. He leaves her enthralled with the new cutter and goes to throw out the garbage. She runs after him with the box and she scolds him for not distributing the garbage properly. If they are going to work together, he is going to have to learn how to recycle. He is grossed out that she is resorting the garbage without gloves. She chases him trying to touch him with her garbage contaminated hands.

The conversation continues between Julieta, Bruno and Linda. Julieta accuses Bruno of lying to her again. Bruno says he could not tell her the truth because she and Linda hate each other. Linda agrees that she can’t take Julieta for five minutes. Julieta says it is more like three minutes for her. Julieta insists that their relationship cannot be. Julieta took Bruno into her home to restart his studies and find a job in robotics and he has done nothing. Bruno will not be having a novia (let alone Linda) until he can do something productive. Bruno says she is worse than his own mother. Julieta says no, she is just the opposite. His mother allowed him to do whatever he felt like and that is why he is like he is. Bruno says he has been researching. Julieta asks researching what. He always has excuses. Julieta tells a mouthy Linda that she and Bruno only have weaknesses in common. They are going to destroy each other if they are together. They are both selfish, capricious, liars, manipulators, shameless, problematic, unstable and immature. Linda is no longer smiling. Julieta asks if they really can see a positive future together.

Robert is visiting with Dave. He tells him how well he is healing. Dave hears that and is happy but knows he will never be the same as before. Dave wants to know when Julieta is coming to see him. Robert thinks it will be soon. Dave has a message for her: he loves her a lot.

A sad and tearful Belén is being consoled by Blanca over Aurelio’s desertion. Amalia is just being obnoxious pouring salt in the wound talking about how Aurelio never deserved Belén and once a cheater always a cheater, blah, blah, blan, Belén just finds her goofy jokes painful. Amalia keeps going saying that Belén was in love with the idea of Aurelio but not Aurelio in reality. Thankfully a phone call shuts her up. The call is from Enzo for Amalia to come practice. Amalia finally goes.

Robert gets good news from the orphanage director that a couple is interested in adopting Dave. Robert sees it as a blessing.

When Linda is gone, Bruno gets an earful from Julieta. He has no business having a girlfriend at all. He has to do something with his life. She shows him a photo of them when he was a baby. She promised him that she would always take care of him because he was the person she loved most in her life. Bruno says he is not a kid anymore. He says he is a man. Julieta says, that being the case,he needs to act like one. Julieta asks what he has to offer to Linda or to any girls for that matter. She wants him to grow as a person.

Blanca tells a still crying Belén that she should have realized what was up when Aurelio said he was going to wash clothes but had a suitcase in his hand.

Xavi tells Marisol that the sales are really worse at the bakery than what he had thought. It probably would be better that she stopped working as his manager and help out her own family. No, Marisol is not giving up her manager job. As a matter of fact, she is thinking of recording Javi’s video in the bakery giving it some needed publicity and thereby killing two birds with one stone.

Linda has a video chat with Bruno telling him she knows he will side with his sister. After the call, Linda is upset because she can’t find a single clean glass in the kitchen. Imelda comes in with Eugenio. Linda is moaning how the place has become a pigsty with Blanca being gone. Imelda reminds them that is why she wanted them all organized to pitch in. She also doesn’t want Blanca to think that the only reason they want her back is because they need her. Eugenio thinks that the house without Blanca is just madness. Linda doesn’t know why the “wonderful” Julieta couldn’t talk Blanca into coming back. Imelda doesn’t know either.

Blanca is chatting with Belén. She is thinking about talking to her daughters to explain to them why she is not at home. She is tired of Eugenio, Imelda, Ana and Tulio taking advantage of her. Belén asks about adding her daughters to that list.

Back at Julieta’s, she has two more questions for Bruno . . . today. Does he really love Linda? Yes, he does. Is he aware that if he is going to be successful in robotics he is going to have to leave?

Gabriel helps Daniela move lumber as she gets busy with her carpentry business in the basement. She asks him if he really wants to be her business partner and if he is able to do work like this. Of course, he does. He wants to learn how to cut wood considering how sexy it is. She agrees to teach him. It all goes great until a piece of wood falls on his foot. Daniela wants him to go to the hospital. No, he doesn’t need that foot to drive. Daniela asks him to think if this is really the business for him. He insists that it is. She tells him to let her know when he gets home. She loves him. He loves her, too.

Imelda and Eugenio pay Julieta a visit to ask her for a favor. She has to convince Blanca to come back. Imelda insists that Blanca must know what she has to do with her life. Eugenio is sad but angry, too. Blanca is irresponsible. He has stayed by her side all of these years when he could have gone far away himself. He has supported her. Imelda agrees. One must do whatever is necessary for Blanca to return. Things start to get testy when Julieta tells them she will not be doing them any favors.

Daniela, Linda, Marisol and Polita get into it trying to divide up the household chores that Blanca is no longer around to do. Linda is not interested. She thinks they just should find Blanca and convince her to come home. Frida finally puts an end to the craziness by screaming to get their attention and telling them that the important thing is that her granny comes back home to be with them, not to do the household chores.

Julieta continues and lets Eugenio and Imelda have it. Julieta is not about to do something she is not in agreement with. Furthermore, she identifies BOTH of their position on this matter as being very “machista”. She asks if they do not realize what they have done to doña Blanca. They are forcing her to live a life that she no longer wants with the excuse that that is what a woman has to do. She tells Eugenio that Blanca has only been his shadow. He takes exception with that and is insulted. He gets up and announces he is her father-in-law and deserves respect. Julieta gets up amd says she also deserves respect. Imelda gets up and talks about Eugenio being her father-in-law and having authority. Julieta says it is one thing for him to be her father-in-law and quite another to strive to be everybody’s boss. Blanca did not just go because of the Ana situation. She left because she is tired of following orders as if she were an employee and she doesn’t even get a salary. Imelda accuses her of becoming involved in things that have nothing to do with her. Why? asks Julieta. Because she thinks differently than they do? Because she knows that Blanca is not an object but a woman who wants to think differently herself? Eugenio is not going to put up with this. Robert arrives and wants to know what is going on. Imelda accuses Julieta of not being respectful.

Marisol agrees with Frida even offers to do the dishes. Marisol says she will take care of that. Frida leaves to do her homework. Marisol tells her sisters about how badly the sales are doing in the bakery. Now besides owing Ana and Tulio, their parents also owe suppliers. It is time for them to help their parents.

Back at Julieta’s, Julieta is telling Eugenío and Imelda it was not her intention to humiliate them but that they do not like to hear the truth. Imelda tells her she thinks she knows all there is to know about life, but she is wrong. Eugenio tells her she hasn’t lived. Robert has had enough of their complaints. Why not talk when they have calmed down? No, Eugenio has had enough of talking with Julieta. He never knew what she really thought of them. Julieta reiterates that she did not mean to offend him but they want her to convince Blanca to return to the same old same old. Blanca wants to change but they have to, also. Robert supports Julieta and says she is right. Imelda knows he was going to say his “dear wife” was right. Robert knows Julieta is right. Robert thinks they have to be united to solve the situation with Blanca. Imelda and Eugenio decide it is time to go as Imelda grouses that they just came to ask for a little help and they end up being scolded. Julieta points out that is how Imelda manipulates the situation all of the time. Robert asks her to just let it go. Imelda mocks Julieta saying she now is going to classify them as manipulators when she is just capricious herself. Robert has had enough. They each have their opinion and they all have to respect each other. Julieta excuses herself. Robert gets an earful as Imelda badmouths Julieta. Robert ask if she even hears herself. Imelda is so disrespectful of people. The lesson they all have to learn is that they cannot force anybody into anything.

Polita might not have any money but she can help out around the house the most she can. Marisol is going to ask Xavi to get all of the bills for the bakery so they know exactly how much they owe. Imelda and Eugenio return home and fill everyone in on how Julieta did not try to talk Blanca into coming back and that she called Eugenio a macho and Imelda a manipulator. Linda wants to know what they were expecting from Julieta. Marisol amd Daniela come to Julieta’s defense because she has helped them. That is all that Imelda needed: that her grandaughters and great-grandaughter are now against her. Daniela says that Blanca needs time. Eugenio asks time for what. Time for her to think some more and never come back?

Julieta and Robert make supper and continue the conversation. Julieta says that if she is a part of the Córcega family, she has a right to express her opinion. She does not want to fight with his family but she will not lie. His mother left because of “machismo” and manipulation. He sees Eugenio amd Imelda as being old and the problem was with the manner in which Julieta dealt with the problem. Julieta reminds him that if things continue like they are Blanca is never coming back. Blanca is old but she does want to change. Julieta will not allow his family to make her do things she does not want to do. She has a right to say what she thinks. She doesn't want to fight with him and reminds him that he owes her a honeymoon.

At Amalia’s practice, Enzo remarks how she is just better all of the time. He kisses her on the forehead. He apologizes. She will forgive him with one condition that she return his kiss amd she does right on his lips. He enjoys it.

Bruno is back at Catalina’s house visiting. Hugo Jr. is looking for some missing cookies in the background being obnoxious in the background. Bruno admits that the problem is him. Diana says he has taken a big step in realizing that and now he can work on a solution. He has three announcements. First, he is going to study robotics. Second, he is going to tutor Robert’s nephew. Third, he has a girlfriend. Catalina cannot stand Linda and tells him he is going to end that relationship.

Robert goes back to talk to Eugenio and Imelda. Imelda is making the point that they deserve respect from his wife. Robert disagrees saying that everybody deserves respect. Imelda then attacks Julieta's way as being immoral. Robert defends Julieta. She is simply a modern woman. Robert breaks the news to his dad that the main problem Blanca is having is with her marriage to him. Robert says his mother simply got tired of being invisible in this house.

Enzo admires Amalia more than she can imagine.

Marisol talks to Julieta and gives her her new presentation as Xavi’s manager. She finally has nailed it amd thanks Julieta for her help.

Robert returns to his apartment. He cannot believe how stubborn his father and grandmother are. He sure understands his mother better now. Julieta suggests they go out to eat. He has a message for Julieta from Dave: he loves her. She loves him, too. He also breaks the news that there is a family very interested in Dave. Julieta looks sad eventhough she is still smiling.

Gabriel ends up at the hospital with his foot. It is not broken just sprained. As he gets ready to pay the bill in cash, he gets a phone call from his father reminding him that if he insists on marrying “that girl” then he better start thinking about where he is going to live because the apartment where he is living belongs to him. Gabriel asks Augusto if he would be capable of doing that to his own son.

Imelda complains about supper. Amalia stops by to pick up some things for Blanca. She is all smiles knowing she is aggravating Imelda and Eugenio. She tells Eugenio that Blanca is doing very well without him. He asks how long Blanca is going to stay with her sisters. Amalia thinks that she will be staying the rest of her life. Eugenio thinks that if Blanca wants her things, she should come herself to get them. He storms out. Amalia and the three daughters manage to pack many of Blanca’s things in a suitcase. Amalia tells them to come outside quietly with her. Blanca is waiting near the park to see them.

At Polita’s, Audifaz decides that they also have taken advantage of Blanca. So, from now on his family will be on its own. If they have no money for food, they will not eat. Eugenio comes seeking refuge from the bedlam in his own apartment.

Robert and Julieta are out eating. They want to plan a honeymoon. They are going to have to wait a while. They end up dancing and talking about trying to have another baby.
At home, Robert tells her he does not want her to feel pressured about the baby talk. The doorbell rings. They think it is Bruno. Julieta tells him that Bruno and Linda are novios. Robert opens the door and it is Tulio popping by to get the money he is owed. Robert tells him that he has arranged a loan. Well, Tulio wants his money right now. He renews his threat to throw them all out. Robert pushes him against the opposite wall in the hall, grabs him by the front of the collar and tells him that he will not allow Tulio to treat his family like that.

Jarifa: 76 down. 26 more to go!

I just finished taking care of the typos. Julieta really gave Imelda and Eugenio a run for their money. Loved it !

Thank you, Jarifa what a tremendous retelling of all the events! and your title is puuurfect!

"Julieta really gave Imelda and Eugenio a run for their money" Yes she did! and I cheered her on...go, Julieta! OmGoddness, those two refuse to get out of the dark ages.

I'm really glad the girls are now aware of ALL the family's financial problems. I was a bit dismayed that Frida was the one that reminded them that they should want Blanca to return because they miss her, not what she does for them.

More later...busy, busy, busy...

oops, that should be "goodness" not Goddness!

Jarifa - Thank you for the recap!!! I look forward to watching this at lunch hour.

Ultimas semanas? Furthermore, the Wikipedia page for this telenovela says, "On October 18, 2017, Juan Osorio confirmed that the show has been renewed for a second season." Hhhmmmmm.....
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mi_marido_tiene_familia

Team Julieta just rocks! Telling it like it is to Imelda and Eugenio! (the fruit did not fall far from the Córsega tree). Reminds me of the old song .... "The day my momma socked it to, the Harper Valley PTA"

”Amalia is just being obnoxious pouring salt in the wound talking about how Aurelio never deserved Belén and once a cheater always a cheater, blah, blah, blan, Belén just finds her goofy jokes painful.”
And there we have it, yet another slice of real life served up so very well in this telenovela, where people say all those old platitudes that they think helps, when it truly all it does is rub salt into the wounds….whether that event is a break-up, death, job, illness, miscarriage, whatever. As I have journeyed through my own life and become aware of this, I pay more attention to what hurting people need to hear (" I'm so sorry ")and not those tired old platitudes.

Has Julieta given Bruno a time line in which he is expected to reach certain goals? If not, this needs to be done or he gets the boot and is off Juli’s payroll. Yet again. ~roll eyes~

Jarifa, thanks for a wonderful recap! It's amazing that you manage to cover all the points raised in the episode.

This is such a busy show and chapter that I kept being delighted and annoyed and intrigued all the time. Is Amalia actually starting something with Enzo? Or are we being misled here?

I really liked Audifaz's change in attitude, but... is he still working for Tulio?

Julieta is a miracle worker, except with Linda. Or is there a crack in Linda's facade?

And lots more, but you can't tell the players without a score card, or, in our case, a recap.

Ah, Bruno. I never much liked Bruno, but after having been thoroughly scourged (in a nice way :-) by Julieta he is finally saying the right things. Will he follow through?

Thanks, Jarifa. Great title and recap.

Yikes, sorry to hear we're in ultimas semanas. I liked Mi marido from the start, but it's actually much better than I expected. I will definitely watch if they do a sequel.

He is grossed out that she is resorting the garbage without gloves. She chases him trying to touch him with her garbage contaminated hands.

lol - Those crazy kids can find joy in anything together. It must be love.

Julieta gets up and says she also deserves respect.

Whoa! Julieta socked it to them good. Eugenio: Hombre, I'm rooting for you to see the error of your ways and get Blanca back because she sees selfless love in you, but you've got to cut the apron strings. Going to meet Julieta with your mommy. Please!

Blanca says she didn't get a salary, but I'm guessing Eugenio didn't either, just took care of his family with the earnings.

The difference between Amalia talking to Eugenio and Julieta talking to him was stark. Julieta was firm but trying to help. Amalia was insulting and enjoying it.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments and stopping by.

RgvChick, yes it was pretty pathetic that Frida was the only one who seemed to get it about why they really should want Blanca home. Linda, as expected, was the worst of the bunch.

doris, I am happy that they have committed to a second season of this. It will be interesting to see when it comes out and if they will be able to maintain the quality.

Andy, as far as I know, Audifaz is still working for Tulio. I, too, was wondering if there was a “crack in Linda’s facade”. As of now, I still cannot stand her.

Niecie, I do not think that Eugenio got a salary either but it seems that he worked in the bakery(Period). As well as taking care of the home, it seems that Blanca was expected to also work in the bakery without getting anything extra. Unfortunate for her, not so much for him.

Women like Imelda are the enemy of women everywhere.

I loved Julieta being so forward with Eugenio and Imelda. She was polite. They just didn’t want to hear what she wants to say. I don’t think, that the “manner” of the delivery of the message would have mattered. I never understood the “pecking” order in families.. Why should Eugenio deserve any extra respect or Imelda for that matter if they do not show it to others.

Superb recap, Jarifa! Hee hee! I loved it when Julieta walked in on Bruno and Linda--though she is a bit too much of a metiche in Bruno's love life. She's exactly right about Brunos and Linda and their respective characters--but it's not really her business. Yep, that "garbage fight" between Dani and Gabriel was adorable! Excellent plan by Marisol to film the video in the bakery. Frida is so wise! Dare we hope that Tulio has a heart attack from Robert's threatening body language?

SpanProf, we should be so lucky!

SpanProf - Just imagine Tulio in the hospital with a heart attack, Robert is on duty and saves his life. Oh noes!!! Tulio would wake up and still demand his money. 😛

Doris: Yes, Tulio is that evil. I still say, lawyer, anyone? Or depending on the statute of limitations for kidnapping in Mexico, police? At the very least, if Tulio tried to seize all of Imelda's and Eugenio's property, the family could let the public at large know about Ana's and his original crime. But then even in this tn, commonsense doesn't always matter.

Tulio is a nasty jerk, but he needs to be dealt with. I believe someone asked about this before but I'll ask as well, why haven't they consulted with a lawyer? Ana gave Imelda money, no agreement was signed that I know of. That thing that Imelda signed, while she was in the hospital and sedated, that wouldn't be upheld.

Unless Julieta has been studying law on the side (not impossible) the Córcega clan needs a lawyer. Maybe Margarita from Enamorándome de Ramoony could handle it. She's as sharp as Julieta.

Ah, SpanProf, our posts crossed. We were both thinking of laws and lawyers. But you are right, in telenovelaland common sense plays no part unless it suits the writers' whims.

Andy, that is one of my pet peeves in novelas, the “good guys”never seem to avail themselves of the legal options available to them. On the other hand, the ‘bad guys” always seem to know what their legal options are and use them to get what they want.

Late to the party, thanks Jarifa!!!

Oh so disappointed we are in ultimas semanas! What am I going to do without this show? I need my Dani and Gabi fix!!! I hope season 2 goes forward and soon.

Knowing Tulio he will call the police on Robert for assault. He is miserable and has to make everyone else too. Call me crazy but I still think Ana holds the resolution of all of this in her hands. When will she finally stand up to Tulio?

Gabi was not made for physical work. He can sell the stuff but keep him out of the shop.

Bruno seems like he is coming around. Hard to see Juli and Linda ever liking each other. That would take until season 10 to happen.

Enzo liking Amalia? No way. Don't believe it writers. Give her someone else but not Enzo.

Carvivlie, well, at least it will last through the holidays and into January. ITA about Gabriel and Enzo.

Andy Banda - about these legal issues,,,, I am overnight shipping you a telenovela beanie hat. Stop asking intelligent questions. LOL

It must be a telenovela rule that the good guys don't call a lawyer, just like when someone has a heart attack, they all stand around wringing their hands but no one calls 911 or checks to see if the patient needs CPR. 🙄

Doris, thanks much for the beanie. I hope it has a propeller :-)

And as for Amalia and Enzo, why not, this is telenovelalandia after all. Ya just gotta believe you can fly, and you can!

OK, maybe that predates telenovelas, but still. And I would love to see a few more interesting match ups, like maybe one of Gabriel's evil "stepsisters" matched with, say, Danilo. This is tough, so many are already paired. I'll have to think about it.
