Mi marido tiene familia Monday 1/1/18 Capítulo 93: Did She? or Didn't She?--OR--PDA's Oh My!

Eugenio and Blanca step up and offer their room to the Cooper’s. Robert Sr. tries to get them all to understand that he just does not want to put anyone out. Julieta suggests that they can split their time between the house and the hotel. Grace has a word aside with Robert. She reminds him how she and Robert Sr. like to be independent. She is having a problem with them being so insistent. She does not want to be rude but they already booked the hotel. Robert explains how sensitive his family is and if they reject them, it is going to be a big deal. Grace asks what to do. Robert says just stay with them at the house. Robert will do all that he can so it goes well. Robert Sr. can go to the gym and she can go running with Julieta. She would love to but Robert and Julieta need their space. He is sure they all can get along well and she is not going to be staying there forever and ever and ever. Grace starts to smile and tells Robert that he always makes her laugh. He says that the Córcega’s are very kind.

Tavo talks with Ana about her keeping up with her yoga as a way of keeping her depression under control.

Audifaz has a conversation with Tulio. Audifaz does not like to see him like he is looking so sad and depressed. He wants Tulio to know he is there for him. Tulio does not think he deserves anyone’s support. Audifaz knows he has made a lot of mistakes but the important thing is to really be sorry from his heart and to solve those situations. Tulio does not want to see Ana anymore and does not know how to get out of the castle that he built for her.

Marisol tries to explain things to Frida About Xavi moving out. Frida runs to say goodbye to Xavi. They have a tearful goodbye but he assures her he won’t be disappearing from her life. He loves her a lot.

Hugo gives his family a tasting of his cookies. He thinks his second name should be ”entrepreneur”. He is already working on a box design for them. His dad is going to be one of the majority partners. Catalinamdoes not miss the opportunity to bad mouth his father. Bruno tells her that Hugo has a right to finally have a life of his own. Diana adds that with this project they will be able to become independent. Bruno really likes the cookies.

Robert informs the family that his adoptive parents will be staying a couple of nights with them. Imelda thinks that is just perfect. The Cooper’s will feel like royalty. Eugenio says that they are all there to attend them and serve them.

Daniela and Gabriel leave to see the musicians out. Blanca assures the Cooper’s that the rest of the food is not hot in the least but Imelda wants Grace to eat more since she spent so much time cooking in the kitchen. (Sure) Imelda has plans for them all to watch movies if they want and they can have pijama party where the Cooper’s can tell them all kinds of stories about Juan Pablo when he was a kid.

Catalina is not happy with Hugo selling cookies. He was not born for that. Hugo states that he has a right to make his own life. He also knows why she is acting that way. She doesn’t want to see her youngest fly the coop. Catalina is so aggravated with them she decides to move out. She tells Hugo to give his cookies to his wife since she is the only one he seems to be concerned about. Hugo explains that they never asked her to leave. She says it is obvious she is not wanted there. She says they will miss her but when they do it is going to be too late. Catalina and Bruno leave together. Diana is so happy that they are finally alone she wedges a chair against the door so they cannot get back in. She and Hugo take advantage of being alone in the house.

Tulio informs Ana that he is moving to their other apartment. Ana says they both need to start another life. She forgives him and tells him to try to be happy. She is going to do the same herself.

Gabriel is teasing Daniela about her family being just as controlling as his family. He never realized that her family was the same as his.

Tulio talks to Audifaz as he packs his things. Tulio really hates himself. Audifaz tells him we all make mistake. That is why Tulio hates himself. He hates himself for loving Ana. Audifaz helps him pack.

In her bedroom, Blanca fills in the Cooper’s on all of the “novelties” of the Córcega house like how the hot water faucet works in the bathroom. They tell Blanca how tired they are and how they are not up for a pijama party. Blanca says it is cancelled and leaves them to rest. Robert tells his wife that is how they are in Latin America: very kind. Blanca comes back to remind Grace about going running in the morning. Blanca is going to give it a try. She then asks Grace for four or five minutes of her time.

Catalina shows up at Julieta’s with her suitcase wanting to stay the night. Julieta tells her there is no room at the inn but Catalina insists she will sleep in any little corner. Robert suggests the living room and she happily takes it. Julieta gives Robert “the look”. Catalina wants to give Hugo and Diana a lesson so they will miss her.

Diana ends up in bed with Hugo. She sees the solution to everything as not living with his mother. She tells him he can visit her every weekend like everyone else visits their mothers. He insists he is going to get going with the cookie business so they can have their own love nest. Diana would be happy with a small apartment but it will be their home..

Blanca and Grace discuss Robert. Blanca wants to know all about his childhood. When did he first fall in love? Grace really does not know and it is still strange to her hearing him referred to as Juan Pablo. Blanca understands because she is still not used to Robert. Did he have a lot of girlfriends? Grace says sort of and agrees that he was always the most handsome of all. . Blanca wants to know what stories he liked when he was a little boy? Did she read him stories or did he not like them? Grace answers that he loved them and yawns. Blanca would have loved to have read him stories, help him with his homework, get his report cards . . Was he a hard worker? She would have loved to have seen him dance at the school festivals. Blanca asks her to send her all of the pictures she has. Grace answers that of course she will. Eugenio walks in and tells Blanca that Amalia’s room is just horrible. He then sees Grace and apologizes not wanting to interrupt the woman. Grace apologizes and offers to give him back his bed. Blanca tells him the mattress is good and he is going to be very comfortable. Blanca goes with him and Grace quietlh sneaks off to her room.

Belén asks Amalia if she is going out again as Amalia is leaving. Yes, she is. She is going out with Enzo. Belén asks if they are gong to go see a movie at this time. Amalia says there is nothing bad anout her going out at this time of night. Well, Belën sees nothing good about it either. Her bed is right over there and she is going to go to sleep and not go out. Amalia of course is not going to do that and tells Belén she is the one who needs to go to bed like now. As she leaves, Amalia laughs and reminds her she is going to go live with Enzo. Belén is left being upset.

Grace ends up going to bed where Robert Sr. asks her where she has been. Grace tells him that Blanca just wanted to talk and talk. She tells him to not forget to send her all of Bobby’s photos. They just want to go to sleep. Blanca comes back and finds that Grace is gone. She starts wandering around calling out Grace’s name wondering where she is.

Amalia and Enzo visit, dance, and kiss at his place. Amalia has only one glass of wine because of “how she gets”.

Julieta and Robert catch up with each other in bed. Julieta sees them just having one adventure after another. Robert agrees, first the terrible Dave situation and now having all four of his parents together. Julieta asks him how he feels beyond being stressed out. They are just so different but he loves them all. He so hopes they get along well or else there will be problems. Julieta sees the whole family thing as just complicated. Tomorrow she is going running with both of her mother-in-laws. Julieta insists that she is doing it out of love. Robert is so proud of her and grateful for all of her efforts. Just when they start to get friendly, Dave asks to join them in their bed. Sure, they will tell him a story. Robert starts the story. There once was a couple who had no privacy to be together . . .

The next morning, Amalia wakes up with Enzo in his bed. Both are nude. Amalia anxiously asks Enzo what happened. Enzo remembers them having two glasses of wine and that’s all he can remember. Amalia is upset that she waited so many years (to have sex) and she did not even realize . . . She asks Enzo if they had sex. He just shrugs his shoulders. He has no idea.

In the steam bath, Eugenio feels left out as Robert Jr. and Robert Sr. tell family stories, laugh and most definitely enjoy each other’s company. Eugenio says he has had enough steam and is leaving. Robert ask if he feels okay. Yes, he does. He understands that they have a lot to talk abou, so he is going on ahead of them. They can catch up to him. Eugenio looks back at them laughing annoyed and jealous.

Grace, Julieta, Catalina and Blanca all go out running. Julieta is way ahead with Grace and tells her that she loves to exercise outside but she has nobody to go with. Robert likes the gym. Grace says she has the same problem. Blanca and Catalina are left behind. Catalina says they sure are not like Grace who is in the condition of a young woman and also dresses like one, too. Catalina does not miss the opportunity to poison the waters observing that Julieta is spending a lot of time with Grace and that she could see that “witch” Grace convincing Julieta to move to the USA. Catalina reminds Balnca she is the real mother-in - law and that they have to unite forces to not lose Julieta. Grace calls to Blanca to come on. Blanca tells her just to wait. Julieta comes back to see what is going on With Blanca and Catalina. Blanca reminds Julieta that they all do not run at the same speed. Catalina says he is just “staying behind” with Blanca. Blanca does not appreciate that comment. Catalina admits to Julieta that it is just upsetting seeing her suddenly best friends with “that” woman with her and Blanca just disowned. The only thing left is for Julieta to call Grace “mamá suegra” or maybe “mommy suegra”. Blanca says “mamá suegra” is to be used for her only. Julieta at first cannot believe what she is hearing but it is clear that both Blanca and Catalina are jealous of the relationship that Julieta has with Grace. She says she is only trying to be kind to Robert’s mother. Blanca admits to being annoyed with all of the laughter between Julieta and Grace when she doesn’t laugh like that with her. As Blanca walks ahead, Catalina adds that Julieta treats Grace better than her own mother.

Robert Sr. and Robert are still in the steam bath laughing. Eugenio is still feeling left out and annoyed.

Back on the trail, Blanca is watching Grace do squats. She tries some herself. Grace says it is just a lot of training with concentration. Julieta and Catalina join them. Grace slaps her own behind and says the squats are really good to firm up the glutes. Grace says let’s fight to get that firmness. They all do squats in their own way.

Amalia is back home telling Belén that after all of this time waiting she doesn’t know if she did or didn’t have sex. Enzo doesn’t know either. Belén finds this topic very hard to discuss with Amalia but tells her there should be some signs that she had sex. Of course, Amalia knows that, but she is not sure that those would apply at her age anymore. Belén reminds her that she told her not to go out. She supposedly was going to see a “movie”. Amalia admits to beIng involved in a “suspense” movie. The very worst part of it all is that destiny has robbed her of her “first time.”

The women keep doing their squats together. Blanca and Catalina are having a hard time keeping up. Grace tries to motivate Blanca by saying to keep going so she will have some tight glutes for her husband. In pain, all Blanca can say is what?

Luz is meeting with Marisol and tells her how good her sales are going. Marisol wishes everything was going so well. Marisol tells Luz about the Ignacio problem. He only sees Frida when he feels like it. Luz reminds her that she has the law to protect her. Marisol is worried that litigation could hurt Frida. Luz warns her that if she does not put a stop to it all now, it might just be too late at a later date.

Blanca tells Julieta she is giving up. Julieta asks her if she is throwing a tantrum. Of course not! Then, why is her face all pouty? Blanca insists it isn’t. She accuses Julieta of laughing at her. No, Julieta insists she is not making fun of her. Julieta finally admits that she is jealous of Julieta’s relationship with Grace. She thinks that Grace is her favorite mother-in-law. Julieta tries to calm her down and mistakenly calls her “doña” Blanca rather than “mamá suegra” which just annoys Blanca even more. Julieta tries to explain that they are very different. Blanca says Julieta can say that again. She thinks that Juieta and Grace are very much alike. Julieta reminds Blanca that she is her one and only “mamá suegra”. Grace and Catalina come over to ask what they are talking about. Blanca turns around laughing with a big smile and answers nothing at all. She turns away and is in tears.

The women run into the men who are returning from the gym. Grace says that Oaxaca is a beautiful place to exercise outside. The couples all team up with a quick kiss except for Robert Sr. and Grace whose kissing goes on and on. Blanca and Eugenio are put off by them kissing all over like they do. Catalina remarks there is no longer any common decency. Robert Sr.comes up for air and makes a comment about how good looking Julieta is and how lucky Robert is as Grace pinches his face to shut him up. Robert changes the topic to breakfast.

Back at home, Blanca and Eugenio commiserate about the relationship that the Coopers have with Julieta and Robert. Blanca never sees them being equal to the Cooper’s. Eugenio remarks that Robert Sr. is fun all of the time. He and Robert treat each other as friends. Grace wonders how Grace keeps herself so young and modern. She is so free and so in control of herself. Today she actually said that one has to have firm glutes for her husband. Eugenio just cannot believe one would say that. Imelda who has been eavesdropping as usual, asks Blanca about what she said about the firm glutes. So, Blanca repeats what Grace said. Eugenio and Blanca are shocked. Imelda can understand why that topic might scare Eugenio and Blanca a bit. They don’t even hug each other or caress each other. Eugenio does not like talking about these kids of things with his mother. Imelda plows on saying she is conservative but what she would not give to take Eugenio’s father’s hand, hug him, kiss him . . . Imelda looks like she is lost in past pleasures. She does not know what is wrong with Eugenio. It seems that he is made out of ice. Eugenio does not want to hear any more. Imelda sits down and asks what is so bad talking about these things. How old is he anyway? Might it be that the presence of Grace and Robert Sr. is stirring up new feelings?

Marisol tells Ignacio off. He has no right to demand anything. He does not support his daughter. He give her nothing and takes a lot away from he. He asks what does he take from Frida. Marisol answers her peace of mind. So, she is going to take him to court. He warns her not to dare do that. Of course, she is going to do it and show him. He asks if she wants to start a war with him. Does he really want to start a war with the mother of his child who he cheated on? If he wants a war, she will win it for Frida’s sake.

In the bakery, Eugenio is showing Robert Sr.and Grace his famous “pan de frijol” and Julieta’s “pan imán” that she invented when she proposed to Robert. Robert tastes the bread, declares it delicious and feeds Grace a piece of it as they join hands. Eugenio asks how long have they been married. Grace says many many years. Robert Sr. adds for many lives. They want to spend all the lives they have left together. Robert Sr. kisses Grace’s hand. Eugenio remarks that they always seem to have just fallen in love.
How is that? Robert Sr. explains it is because love is something that you create day by day. He surprises his adored wife whenever he can. Grace just smiles. She mentions the little gifts, the games, the smiles, the changes the kisses. Robert ends up mentioning and demonstrating the little pinch sometimes on the derrière. Grace tells Robert Sr.to behave but not too much as Robert Sr. kisses Grace’s arm. Eugenio is left with an eyeful and many thoughts.

Blanca is telling Robert that she is very grateful to Grace and Robert Sr. for all of the love that they gave him but they are very different from them. Julieta explains that they have other customs, they come from another culture. Blanca would say that that culture is much more relaxed. Robert does not get the “relaxed” part. Blanca clarifies herself with mentioning them kissing out on the street. Robert explains that they are in love, they are spouses, they are married. Robert kisses Julieta. Blanca has to admit that she and Eugenio have a marriage that is rather different. Blanca wants to know what this firming the glutes is all about. Catalina who has been in the kitchen pops out to add her two cents. She does not think it is normal to talk about these intimacies out in the open. Julieta explains that it was among just the women. Catalina might consider it maybe among real close friends. Blanca is just conflicted about it all. She is just not used to these things.

Blanca leaves and Julieta goes after her. It seems that the Cooper’s visit is affecting her. Blanca admits that she feels shaken by it and also angry. Blanca feels displaced because Robert is so much more like his adoptive parents the Cooper’s.

Sometimes hotels/motels are much better places to stay when visiting family or friends. There is something about too much togetherness. The old saying "familiarity breeds contempt"?

Sort of served Amalia right having passed out but. . . could Amalia end up pregnant?

Imelda did make me laugh with her frank talk about Eugenio being so cold.

I like that they did not make the Coopers a real attractive couple which makes their devotion to each other all the more realistic with "beauty being in the eye of the beholder'.

I am just full of old sayings today. ; )

Jarifa, great recap! Thank you! and your old sayings are perfect!

I was somewhat disappointed that everyone, even Robert, joined in coercing the Coopers to stay. Gabriel sure got another dose of how pushy the Corsegas can be. I'm still fearing for him and Dani...I hope they make it through the all the stubborness and meddlesome times to come.

I do like the Coopers...but it seems the green-eyed monsters are coming out of the swamps...though I don't think the Coopers will get scared off.. They are too easy going to let the Corsegas get to them.

Jarifa, you truly did a sensational job in your wise, wry summary.

"Julieta gives Robert “the look” (perfect and we all know the look, don't we?) and " Eugenio is left with an eyeful and many thoughts" were among many favorites.

"They have a tearful goodbye but he assures her he won’t be disappearing from her life. He loves her a lot". Why Marisol, why? Damn Icknacio!

From the annals of "no forgiveness from me": "She forgives him and tells him to try to be happy". How magnanimous of you Ana. "That is why Tulio hates himself. He hates himself for loving Ana". Yup. So do we. Blech. :)

"She asks Enzo if they had sex. He just shrugs his shoulders. He has no idea". Well, doesn't this bode well for a loving relationship? Ack.

"Luz warns her that if she does not put a stop to it all now, it might just be too late at a later date". Is Luz ever to be in a conversation where something she wants or needs is discussed??

Jarifa, I also have to hand it to Imelda. She knows her son doesn't she? And outside of a few rare moments, there has been little affection shown by either he or Blanca for each other.

Most of us know at least one couple like the Coopers, don't we? Genuine affection and not afraid to show it. But they work at it and take nothing for granted.

"the green-eyed monsters are coming out of the swamps" was so true RgvChick!! Like you, I don't think the Coopers will be run off. I can't tell if they sense the jealousy or not...

I felt for both Blanca and Eugenio. It was rather sad to see Blanca peppering Grace with questions. She so yearns for every little morsel and detail about her beloved son. I hope they can create new memories that will ease a bit of the pain she so obviously still carries for Robert's loss as a child.

Enjoyed Dave crashing Julieta and Robert's "party". Zuria did an excellent job of showing she was flustered. The acting here is just first rate.

Loved your sayings Jarifa! Picture perfect. Thank you!

Diana

Thanks Jarifa!

Jarifa, I thought Amelia was in menopause? I can't imagine her being a mother. Belen and Amelia have a very unhealthy relationship.

RGV, I too was disappointed that Rob didn't advocate for his parents wants and let them go to the hotel. Is Juli the only one who will stand firm with the Corsegas? I worry about Dani and Gabi.

Diana, I think Luz is here only to dispense valuable advice!

Jarifa, thank you for a great and very detailed recap!

I see what they are doing with Amalia, will she or won't she, has she or hasn't she, but it's a little bit silly. And just what's in these bottled drinks she keeps bringing to Enzo's when they have a date? They need to try it sober :-)
And I doubt she will become pregnant because she was at one point sobbing about going through menopause while still a virgin. But this is a TN, so...

Rob/JP and Julieta, welcome to having kids! Put a lock on your bedroom door, please!

Diana had the right idea, block the door. When she let her hair down I thought "Hugo is just a little bit of an idiot, but tonight he should be a happy idiot."

I feel for Blanca and Eugenio, especially Blanca, she's been through so much. Maybe the Coopers will reignite that romantic flame that Eugenio promised Blanca but that seems to have flamed out.
I hope so!

Rgv, thanks. The Cooper’s sure do seem to take everything in their stride. I like their open approach to life.

Diana, thanks. My heart still goes out to Blanca as she eagerly sought any detail of Robert’s childhood with the Cooper’s. It was so sad. The damage Ana did was permanent. I am at the “no forgiveness for Ana” table with you.

Carvivlie, you’re welcome. Yes, Amalia is in menopause but I know of more than one person that was labeled as a “change of life” baby. I cannot see her as a mother either. She needs the attention for herself. She and Belén are way too co-dependent but it happens all the time.

Andy, thanks. You sure called it on Eugenio’s promised romantic fame having “flamed out”. There is just no urgency from him at all since Blanca is home.

Thanks, Jarifa. Terrific job.

Now that I’ve seen the scene of Imelda telling the Coopers that they MUST stay at the Corcegas and be treated like royalty, I get Blanca and Eugenio going along. The Corcegas would’ve looked like poor hosts not wanting to vacate their own bedroom for the Coopers. Imelda sure did put them on the spot.

Audifaz knows he [Tulio] has made a lot of mistakes but the important thing is to really be sorry from his heart and to solve those situations.

Tulio and Ana are beyond irritating. They feel bad, but still thinking about themselves and their own suffering, not of what Blanca and Eugenio lost for 34 years.

green-eyed monsters are coming out of the swamps

Rgv Chick, no doubt about it.

The Coopers have been more than generous about Robert finding and loving his birth parents. The Corcegas need to show a little reciprocity.

Niecie in MD, thanks for reminding me, "Audifaz knows he [Tulio] has made a lot of mistakes but the important thing is to really be sorry from his heart and to solve those situations."

I thought about that when I read Jarifa's recap. Maybe I'm just "getting" (ha!) forgetful, but with all Tulio's remorse has he torn up the promissory note and told Imelda & Co. to just forget the debt? I don't remember seeing that, maybe I missed it, or maybe it's just a dropped story line. Or maybe still to come?

Another excellent recap, Jarifa! Catalina has once again shown herself to be a total spoil sport on every occasion. Robert might consider cooling the demonstrable and very lively affection with his adoptive father a little when Eugenio is around. I can understand why it upsets Eugenio. Also, once we have met Grace it's easy to understand why Robert fell in love with Julieta. Among my own family, friends, and acquaintances I know many a guy whose wife is a lot like his mother--the strongest example is one of my nephews, whose mother is a tall, brunette, beautiful, strong-charactered "fanatical" Catholic, and who married a tall, brunette, beautiful, strong-characterd "fanatical" Lutheran (and you can imagine how she gets along with her mother-in-law). Perfect! Evidently, Imelda and her late husband had a very fun physical relationship. Hilarious and a surprisingly positive aspect of her character.

Andy, the debt to Tulio does seem to be a dropped storyline. Last thing I remember Rob was going to try to get an advance from the bank but we never saw that happen or Tulio acknowledge receipt of the money.

Carvivlie:How was your Christmas & New Years holiday break ?

Andy, good comment about Tulio going after the family for the “debt.” Maybe he will forgive the debt in the future.

Niecie, thanks. Yes, the Cooper’s have been more than gracious. It is not easy on either side.

SpanProf, thanks. That sure was a side of Imelda that I never imagined existed.

Steve, not the Florida weather i expected for the holidays. Flying back to nyc tomorrow. Overall, went well. How about yours? In Texas or did you go somewhere?

Carvivlie: I was in Paranaque, Philippines with my wife & 3 boys hanging out with the In-laws & my older sister.

Oh wow Philippines! Hope you all had a great time!

I know this might not be the right place but I was researching info about Televisa and this blog came up particularly the post last year about Televisa cutting down exclusive contracts. That was an engrossing read. I wonder if there will be an update from Stevey about what's happening currently. Did the veteran actors that lost their contract found jobs and what big starts like Angelique Boyer, Fernando Colunga and Jorge Salinas are doing now
Sorry to intrude but great blog!
