[Beginning
with a big portion of the previous ending, courtesy of Jarifa: Marisol is
arguing with Ignacio and wonders if he really wants to start a war with the mother of his child who he
cheated on. If he wants a war, she will win it for Frida’s sake.
In the bakery, Eugenio is showing Robert Sr. and Grace his famous “pan
de frijol” and Julieta’s “pan imán” that she invented when she proposed to
Robert. Robert tastes the bread, declares it delicious and feeds Grace a piece
of it as they join hands. Eugenio asks how long they have been married. Grace
says many, many years. Robert Sr. adds for many lives. They want to spend all
the lives they have left together. Robert Sr. kisses Grace’s hand. Eugenio
remarks that they always seem to have just fallen in love. How is that? Robert Sr. explains
it is because love is something that you create day by day. He surprises his
adored wife whenever he can. Grace just smiles. She mentions the little gifts,
the games, the smiles, the changes the kisses. Robert ends up mentioning and
demonstrating the little pinch sometimes on the derrière. Grace tells Robert
Sr.to behave but not too much as Robert Sr. kisses Grace’s arm. Eugenio is left
with an eyeful and many thoughts.
Blanca and Julieta talk in the hallway. It seems that the
Cooper’s visit is affecting Blanca; she admits that she feels shaken by it and is
also angry. Blanca feels displaced because Robert is so much more like his
adoptive parents, the Cooper’s; and she and Eugenio
live a life of routines.]
At Julieta’s apartment,
Robert cooks while Catalina comments that Robert’s adoptive parents are
worldly; Robert would probably have been an excellent baker. When Robert asks
her to be careful with what she says, Catalina responds that people don’t like
to be told the truth; it’s not her fault she has the gift of being sincere.
When she continues that Blanca is jealous and somewhat envious since she feels
less when compared to Robert’s adoptive parents, Robert remains pensive.
At the Córsega’s, Blanca
cooks as she tells Julieta that she honestly doesn’t know what to do. When
Julieta asks her to explain what it is that bothers her, Blanca responds that
she needs to accept that Robert’s adoptive parents are different and not as
old-fashioned as Eugenio and her. Grace is very modern, open, and liberal.
Blanca asks Julieta what she could do not to feel that way. Julieta points out
that Blanca is already doing things to change---she learned to drive; she’s
learning to speak English…she needs to do things a little at a time. Blanca
agrees that she is trying to improve herself, but Grace has shown her that she
has to make a thousand times more the effort. What’s worse is that Grace seems
so loved and desired…Julieta can’t imagine how long it’s been since Eugenio
gave her a kiss like that. As Julieta checks the meat that is cooking, Blanca
remains thoughtful.
At Julieta’s apartment,
Eugenio, Mr. Cooper, and Dave sit at the table as Dave asks Mr. Cooper if he
taught Robert how to cook. Mr. Cooper affirms that he did and adds that since a
child Robert had that urge to cook…something that he surely inherited from
Eugenio. When Robert suggests that his father tell them about how he made his
first pie, both Eugenio and Mr. Cooper start their stories, but when the try to
talk over each other, Dave interrupts and tells them it’s fun having two
grandfathers. Mr. Cooper comments that they haven’t even started playing yet,
so Dave suggests they play and goes to get on top of Eugenio, but Eugenio
grimaces in pain when his shoulder hurts. After Mr. Cooper stops Dave and tells
him they should play a game that Eugenio can play, Eugenio looks disconcerted.
At Catalina’s house, Dalia
rolls dough as Hugo sexily approaches her from behind and starts kissing her.
Diana wants to go to their room, but Hugo thinks the kitchen is much more
exciting; so he lifts her onto the counter. As they continue, Hugo lifts her
with his flour-covered arms and lowers her down to the floor.
At the park, Dani wonders
if Gabriel isn’t afraid to get married. Gabriel denies being fearful, fearful
is the long-legged spider. When Dani wonders what he means, Gabriel mimics a
spider with his hand and crawls up Dani’s leg and onto her hair as he messes it
up. Dani laughs and tells him that she is not going to talk to a long-legged
spider…spiders and bears don’t get along. The “spider” starts tickling Dani, so
Dani shrieks and runs off to the slide and Gabriel runs after her…laughing all
the way! After they each slide down, they hug and Gabriel twirls her around as
they laugh.
At the Córsega’s, Blanca
serves Eugenio something she made especially for him. As Blanca turns and
reaches for a glass, Eugenio takes a good look at her bum. She serves him a
drink, then goes for some tortillas, so Eugenio takes another good look as he
thinks about Mr. Cooper saying that whenever he has a chance, he likes to
surprise his adored wife with a pinch to her derriére. Eugenio smiles, but as Blanca
bends over, Eugenio gets a mischievous look and sneaks over to Blanca. He extends
his hand to pinch…hesitates…then finally pinches her! Blanca yells out as she
turns and takes a swing at Eugenio hitting his shoulder. Blanca is SO sorry she
hit him as Eugenio holds his hurting shoulder, but wonders what got into him to
make him pinch her there. Eugenio thinks she is now blaming him for trying to
put a little spark into their lives. When Blanca asks where he got the idea
about the “spark,” Eugenio admits it was from Robert Sr. Eugenio wants them to
be more like the Coopers…more loving, more fun… Blanca smiles and tells him
that they have not been like that for a long time. Eugenio responds that does
not mean he doesn’t love her. Blanca blushes as she tells Eugenio that he has never
liked to talk about those things. As she grins, Blanca remarks that she is
embarrassed to talk about those things. Eugenio knows what Blanca means, but
wonders what they can do to show the love they have for each other. Blanca
smiles and coos as she caresses Eugenio’s face.
At Catalina’s house,
Catalina walks in on Hugo and Diana are at the height of their tryst in the
kitchen. Catalina shrieks and can’t believe they have dared to do such a thing!
As Catalina walks away
yelling, “How dare you!!” and crying, Bruno arrives wondering what’s going on
since he could hear her screams outside. Catalina shrieks that she found Hugito
and Dianuca doing dirty deeds in the kitchen! She wonders at what moment she
ill-taught Hugo. When Bruno reminds her that Hugo and Diana are a couple,
Catalina gets annoyed because he is insinuating she is in the wrong. As she
leaves, Bruno grins and goes to tell the “children” they can come out now. Hugo
and Diana slowly stand up looking like this…
Bruno mocks that they
were caught making “cookies;” and Hugo responds, “It’s not what it looks like.”
In Dave’s bedroom, Robert
watches as Dave finishes a drawing. Once finished, Robert tells Dave that they
now need to go give it to his mother. When Robert comments that they are now
the men of the house, Dave wonders what it feels like to have two fathers.
Robert replies that it feels strange; so Dave then wonders who his favorite dad
is, but Robert responds that he doesn’t have a favorite one; he loves them both
the same. When Dave remarks that the two fathers are very different, Robert
concurs, but adds that it is the differences that make them special. Dave then
wants to share a secret with Robert; after he tells Robert that he is his
favorite father, Dave smiles and hugs Robert.
Blanca enters the
bathroom as Grace is shaving her legs. Blanca is surprised and quickly
apologizes, but Grace tells her it’s fine; she can come in….they are both women
and what one has the other one has, too. Blanca then meekly asks what she and
Eugenio could do to be more loving. When Grace replies that she has some ideas
to ignite that spark of love, Blanca listens attentively. When Grace asks if
she is sure she wants to change, Blanca thinks back to Eugenio pinching her,
trying to exercise with Grace and Julieta, massaging Eugenio’s shoulder, and
Imelda telling them that they hardly ever hug or caress each other.
In Julieta’s apartment,
Julieta opens a gift box as Dave and Robert watch. As she takes out the blue strips
of tissue paper, Dave tells her that those are the waves; and if she looks to
the floor of the ocean, she will find an invitation. She takes out the
invitation and admires Dave’s work, but Robert tells her to open it. Once she
opens it, she sees the words “Honeymoon” and guesses that the three of them are
going on a trip. Robert confirms that he owes her a honeymoon; so they are
going on their honeymoon…and Dave will see the ocean! Julieta is happy that
they are going on their first family trip---with her husband and her son.
In Imelda’s room, Imelda
reminds Blanca that she told her that they (the Coopers) were going to bring
about many topics of discussion…now she and Eugenio are talking about intimacy.
Blanca confides that they are talking about the “spark of love” and frowns. Imelda
understands, but emphasizes that times have changed; Blanca needs to talk about
this with Eugenio since it is causing her so much anxiety. Blanca has already
tried, but she wonders how they can talk about something that doesn’t exist.
At Julieta’s, Robert
tells Julieta that as soon as his adoptive parents return, they will go to the
beach; he has everything ready so they can have some unforgettable days. When
Robert tells Julieta they will be going to Acapulco, Julieta talks to Dave
about how they will be going to a beach like the one they drew, but the real
one will be so much bigger. She then tells him about things they will eat and
what they will do, including that Robert will teach him how to swim. Dave
worries that he has no swimming trunks, so Robert and Julieta come up with a
solution—they will be him some cool swimwear! Robert then mentions to Julieta
that he wants to plan a dinner for his parents, Eugenio and Blanca, but he
wants it to be…as he pauses, Julieta finishes the sentence with “romantic.” Robert
affirms that is what he meant.
At Catalina’s house,
Linda is with Bruno and wonders if he is sure his mother is not going to
arrive. Bruno is sure since Catalina left all in a tizzy. Bruno then adds that
he is glad she is there. Linda is glad too. When she adds that he is perfect
and makes her so happy, Bruno wants to try something—he will pretend to be her
patient. She thinks he is kidding, but he is serious…so she can see just how
perfect he is. Linda follows along and starts looking at his eyes. She sees
that one is a bit lower than the other. They need to raise his eyelid a tad,
fix his nose a bit, some Botox on his forehead and he needs to use sun block
often because in a few years he will look older than he really is.
At the Córsega’s, Grace
wonders if Blanca is okay; she doesn’t look too well. When Grace asks if there
is something Blanca would like to share with her, Blanca assures her she
doesn’t, but sees that Grace is caring bags and wonders if she needs to wash.
Grace replies that the bags are gifts for Julieta—some clothes since Julieta
likes fashion. Blanca thinks it’s nice, then comments that it’s too bad Julieta
won’t wear them. When Grace wonders why not, Blanca responds that Julieta is
very unique (picky)…Blanca bought her some very pretty clothes, but she has
never worn them. Grace is fine with that; if Julieta doesn’t like them, she can
give them to one of her friends. Blanca is surprised with Grace’s response and
wonders if Grace wouldn’t be offended if Julieta didn’t wear the clothes. Grace
would think nothing of it; Julieta is free (to do with them what she wants).
After Grace gets a business call and she yells that something has to get done
immediately, Blanca is again surprised but her authoritative tone. After Grace
leaves, Blanca frowns and comments that Grace and Julieta are the same…they are
“special.”
At the carpentry shop.
Gabriel takes a small wooden rabbit that Dani designed out of a box. Dani
explains that it’s ears and legs are removable; and its name is Dabriel…she
combined their names (how sweet!). It’s a rabbit because it signifies good
luck…and she wants their business to grow very much. Gabriel looks at Dani
admiringly and kisses her. When he suggests she make a bear, she reaches in the
box and takes out a small bear. Gabriel marvels at the bear; he thinks it’s
incredible. Dani then tells her she has an idea for her next design…Gabriel
gave her the idea. She shows him her drawing of a long-legged spider. Gabriel
is even more excited and comments that his job, then, will be to promote the
pieces…the Dabriel designs. Gabriel loves the name and promises that this
green-eyed missionary will make sure that those two young ones and the rest of
the animal family will reach the entire world. Gabriel is still amazed with
Dani’s designs, but then suggests that instead of naming the business Dabriel,
they name it Ganiela, but Dani says. “No-o! Dabriel is fine!” Dani likes that
the initial will be “D” and her name will have top billing. As they are about
to kiss, the Hermonsters arrive because they need to talk to them right away.
At Julieta’s apartment, Julieta
tries on the dresses Grace gave her and thinks one of them is perfect for
tonight since she and Robert are planning a romantic dinner for Eugenio and
Blanca. Grace wants to help since they appreciate that Eugenio and Blanca
brought Robert into the world. Just then the doorbell rings, so Dave goes to
see who it is. As Julieta tells Grace that it seems Grace has known her for
many years since the dresses are totally her style and she loves the material, Blanca
walks in needing to talk to her…alone!
At the carpentry shop,
the Hermonsters think two months is not enough time to plan a super wedding. Gabriel
reminds them that they need to keep in mind that the ones that are getting
married are he and Dani. Clarissa insists that he is their only brother…and
since she needs to be super honest, it’ll be years before they can plan their
own weddings…after which Cassandra slaps her shoulder and tells her that is not
true! Gabriel tells them not to fret; they can be good wedding planners. The
Hermonsters are dismayed…they prefer to be the bridesmaids. Dani reminds them
that she also has two sisters and the fair thing would be that they also be her
bridesmaids. Clarissa insists that no one will have better ideas than she and
Cassandra, Gabriel interrupts and tells them he appreciates everything they
want to do, but it is their wedding and it has to be a joint effort between the
two families. Clarissa then asks that they set up a meeting with the Mussi and
Córsega families so they can discuss everything topic by topic. (It seems no
one is looking forward to that battle!)
At Julieta’s apartment,
Blanca reminds Julieta of her advice when they were at the cabin…that she
should speak her mind. Well! Blanca is very angry with Julieta; she has given
Julieta clothes and Julieta has never worn them. When Julieta reminds Blanca
that she gave her a maternity dress, Blanca thinks she could still wear it…and
she has also given Julieta other clothes that she hasn’t worn. Julieta thinks
Blanca is having a jealous fit. Blanca scoffs, “Jealous, me? No! It’s not as if
you’re my girlfriend! No, No ma’am!” Julieta insists Blanca is acting like a
like a small child. When Blanca chides her for always having to have an answer
for everything, Julieta thinks it’s because it’s the truth. Blanca shouldn’t
always be comparing things they do that she doesn’t do…or that she does that
the Coopers don’t do. Blanca retorts that what she does notice is that Julieta
is, “Aye! Aye! Aye! Aye! Very accommodating with Grace…with the isometrics,
concentration and dressation…but how were you with us in the beginning? Have
you forgotten already?” Julieta tries to interrupt but Blanca waves her off and
tells her not to say anything more. She is going to go write in her notepad
before Julieta tells her to do so because Julieta was very good at giving
advice. As Blanca walks off, Julieta shakes her head in disbelief, but before
leaving, Blanca turns back and tells her the dress isn’t that pretty…it’s too flimsy.
At Catalina’s house,
Bruno looks at his marked up face, so Linda wonders if he is upset. When she
wonders why he had her do all that, Bruno explains that he wants her to see
that he is not perfect; he is just like her. Linda chides him for sounding like
Julieta, but Bruno insists it’s only the truth. He wants Linda to do something
with her life. When he asks what happened to her idea of being a stylist, he
adds that he wants her to see that there is a world out there other than his
world. Linda wonders if he is going to break up with her, but he assures her he
isn’t. He just wants her to promise that she’ll think about it; so Linda, though
annoyed, promises. Bruno then suggests she mark his lips, so she obliges...with
her lips.
At the bakery, Eugenio
finds Blanca pouting and crying. Blanca explains that she argued with Julieta
again…every time they get close, something happens and they end up fighting.
She cries that Robert and Julieta prefer the Coopers to them. Eugenio suggests
it’s time to confront this, but Blanca doesn’t want to; she already did her
reproaching.
Later, entering the hallway,
Eugenio and Blanca encounter Robert and Julieta. When Robert asks if they can
talk, Eugenio also wanted to see them…he is very offended with their attitude!
Robert suggests Eugenio calm down and take a deep breath, but Eugenio gets
annoyed and tells him not to tell him to calm down! Julieta thinks they should
talk before a molehill becomes a mountain. Eugenio starts his rant, “Ever since
the Coopers arrived, they are just wonderful! Everything is laughter and lots
of love…just great!” Blanca adds, “We just want you to acknowledge our place.”
Robert responds, “Mother, father…I’m sorry you feel that way, but please don’t
be jealous.” Blanca and Eugenio insist, “We are not jealous!” Imelda, who has
obviously been listening, comes out and tells Eugenio and Blanca that Robert is
right…Eugenio and Blanca are acting like little children.
At the park and swinging
on the swings, Gabriel asks Dani what she thought about what his sisters said.
Dani prefers not to argue anymore. Gabriel agrees that he doesn’t want to have
a meeting between the two families; they will never agree. Dani thinks the
same, but knows they will never leave them in peace if they don’t do it.
Gabriel then wonders what will happen if they end up choking each other during
the wedding and ruin everything. Gabriel stops swinging when he gets his idea,
“What if we get married in secret, just the two of us?” Dani stops swinging and
is stunned.
At the Córsega’s, Imelda
stands over Eugenio and Blanca as they sit on the couch. Eugenio doesn’t think
they are at an age where Imelda can still scold them. Blanca agrees; they can
solve their own problems. Imelda points out that no matter how modern Blanca
wants to be, they keep going to reproach Robert and Julieta time and time again
as if they were little children. Imelda knows they are jealous of Grace and Robert
Sr.; that’s it! When Imelda asks them if they don’t think it’s childish,
Eugenio starts to explain what is really happening, but Imelda interrupts and
emphasizes that the Coopers are Robert’s adoptive parents; they come from a
different culture with different values and way of life. Blanca responds that
they are not like that, but Imelda continue that Robert loves them, he returned
after 34 years and has shown them that he loves the family unconditionally.
Eugenio and Blanca sit like two children who have just been spanked.
Marisol walks into the
bakery looking or her father, but Carla tells her he went home. When Carla asks
is Xavi will return, Mari confirms that he won’t be coming back. As Mari
leaves, she is stopped by Ms. Gonzalez, a reporter who wants to share something
with her. When Mari wonders if it has to do with Xavi, the reporter clarifies
that it has to do with her marriage and how she came to emotionally involved
with Xavi. Mari points out that she has already sent out a message that Xavi
had nothing to do with her divorce. Ms. Gonzalez is aware of the announcement
Mari made, but she also wants Mari to know that Icknacio is about to see them
an exclusive interview about what happened. Mari becomes worried.
At the Córsega’s, Eugenio
points out the Juan Pablo gets along very well with Robert Sr.; and Blanca adds
that Julieta gets along well with Grace. Imelda retorts. “Of course! What did
you expect? Did you want Juan Pablo to be rude to the parents who raised him?
And did you want Julieta to no get along with another woman who is exactly like
her? Well, older, but the exactly the same. Juan Pablo loves you with all his
heart, but he is also ‘Robert’ and Julieta…is Julieta.
Later, Robert and Julieta
join the conversation. Robert reminds Blanca that she doesn’t have to compete
with anyone. He wants her to be just the way she is…and the same goes for his
father; he loves them just the ways they are…he includes Imelda. Julieta adds
that not at any moment did she want to replace them, they are wonderful, but
the Coopers are also her in-laws. Robert points out that he spent a lot of his
life with the Coopers. Blanca thinks they will not be able to recuperate the
time they were not without him. Robert assure Blanca that they are in his present
time; they have the future left to live. When he pleads with them not to
compare or compete, Julieta adds that she hasn’t worn the dress Blanca gave her
because she there hasn’t been a special occasion for it, but she will wear it
tonight. Robert then tells them that he wants the three of them to dress up for
a very special occasion. Imelda is curious as to what kind of special occasion,
but Robert just tells them to be ready at a certain hour. Everyone is happy
again as they have a group hug.
At the bakery, Ms.
Gonzalez explains that she really doesn’t want Xavi’s reputation to be
tarnished and that is why she came to look for Mari. Mari thinks Ms. Gonzalez
is threatening her, but Ms. Gonzalez assures her she isn’t; she just wants to
hear Mari side and convince her boss to publish the truth. Mari then tells Ms.
Gonzales that the relationship between Xavi and her is only that of artist and
manager. Their objective is Xavi’s success. Mari wants Xavi’s name cleared and
not to involve her daughter in all of this. Ms. Gonzales then asks about the
real cause for Mari’s divorce, but Mari only sighs deeply.
Blanca takes Julieta a
platter of bread and tells her that though they are different, they are part of
a family. Julieta thinks they complement each other well. Blanca then feels
sorry for their afflictions; she knows she promised to change; but it’s not
that easy. Julieta smiles and thinks that they are changing little by little as
the days pass; she knows Blanca is making a big effort. Julieta does have some
things in common with Grace, but she loves Blanca…she truly loves her.
At Belén’s store. Amalia
tastes Hugo’s cookies and thinks they are the most delicious cookies she has
ever tasted. Just then, Enzo arrives and tells her he has been calling her, but
she doesn’t answer. When Enzo mentions their last encounter, Amalia is very
embarrassed…she can’t remember anything; everything is just a blank. When Enzo
suggests that they start over as if the night before hadn’t happened, Amalia
smiles and agrees.
At
Night—
In Julieta’s apartment,
Robert, Julieta and all the parents-in-law are together and ready to toast and
celebrate. Robert wants to toast that, thanks to all four of his parents and his
grandmother’s support, he is here. Julieta adds her thanks and comments that
Robert is a combination of the man he his, so she has the best husband of all.
Robert wants to toast that thanks to God he has the best family he could ever
have.
They all toast, but
Blanca will only have a small drink because she will get tipsy. Julieta
suggests Blanca hold her liquor because the best is yet to come. Robert tells
Eugenio and Blanca that everyone will stay there except them…they are going
elsewhere….a surprise!
At the redecorated,
candle-lit bakery, Eugenio and Blanca look at each other, then at all the fine appetizers.
After they admire all the floral arrangements, Eugenio helps Blanca to sit
down. They comment that Robert, Julieta and the Coopers arranged this for them;
and Blanca wonders why. Eugenio finds a message from Robert and reads,
“Parents, it is never too late to recover that which has been lost. You are a
wonderful couple; and I know that love is still alive within both of you. The
only thing you need to do is revive it. I love you with all my heart, Juan
Pablo.”
At Julieta’s apartment,
Robert brings out their own food as he wonders how his parents are doing. Julieta
tells him not to worry; and Imelda thinks that dinner will help Eugenio and Blanca
enjoy the rest of their lives together. Robert Sr. thinks he and Grace should
go sleep in the hotel that night. Imelda starts to argue, but Robert Sr.
reminds her that they are trying to do things differently. Although Imelda
complains, she concedes…she understands (finally!).
At the romantic bakery,
Eugenio sees a small bell and rings it. A waiter comes out and tells them he
will be at their service tonight. After the waiter tells them he will be
bringing them their specially-made dinner and leaves, Blanca wonders when their
son could have thought of this. Eugenio thinks it’s a grand idea because he
promised to make her fall in love with him again. Blanca thinks it won’t be
easy to find variety every day, but Eugenio would like to try. Eugenio makes a
toast to overcome the monster of routine, so Blanca says, “Okay!” but there is
an optional toast she suggests…to learn to enjoy the routine. They agree and
toast.
In their bedroom as they
pack, Julieta wonders how she and Robert will be when they are old; she thinks
she will be ornery. Robert jests and wonders why she would think that; then
adds, however it may be, she will always be the love of his life. They then
talk about going to the beach and how the three of them will enjoy it. When
Robert brings up that it may not be as fun as when she went with her other
“friend” to the beach, Julieta thinks he is getting to be more like the
Córsegas because he is ruining to good moment. After Julieta brings up Daphne,
Robert changes to his provacative tone and wants to take more chances. Julieta likes the idea
and gets up to kiss him…and they continue…
At the romantic bakery,
Eugenio and Blanca enjoy their food as Blanca wonders if Robert cooked the
meal. Eugenio thinks that if he did, Robert must have inherited his cooking
skills from Blanca. When Blanca comments that Robert loves them very much,
Eugenio wonders that maybe all the years of pain and anguish has kept them from
daring to love each other again. Blanca remarks that they went from being a
happy couple to being bedroom companions. Eugenio thinks that now that they
have their son and their daughters are now getting on with their own lives,
they should have a new objective…to do all the things they had wanted to do.
When he mentions several things they should do, Blanca thinks it might be too
much noise for just a few nuts, she needs to see actions. Eugenio assures her they
will start that same night. When Eugenio brings up the topic they have been
avoiding, Blanca tells him she would be happy just with hugs, some kisses and a
few caresses. Eugenio brings up the bum pinching and they laugh, but Blanca
remembers that when they were young and Eugenio held her hand, she felt so safe
and in absolute peace. Eugenio promises to make her feel that way again. They
then get up to dance; and as they dance, Eugenio asks Blanca to be is
girlfriend again…
