Mi marido tiene familia Monday 1/8/18 Capitulo 98: New Beginnings and Fresh Starts--OR--Imelda's Apology Tour

We pick up with Robert telling the doctor that Julieta cannot be pregnant. Julieta does not understand if she cannot have children. The doctor says that he said the chances of her getting pregnant would be minimal but not impossible. They do need to know, however, that the pregnancy is high risk for the mother and the baby.

Daniela and Marisol continue talking to a still sobbing Linda. Daniela wants her to take this time to think about herself. Marisol wants her to know that her sisters are there for her and she can always count on them. They want her to believe in herself, see the good in herself, and love herself.

The doctor continues with instructions on how Julieta can carry the baby to term. She is going to need constant medical checkups and absolute rest: so she will not be working. She will also need a cervical cerclage to strengthen the cervix. As they leave the doctor’s office Robert and Julieta are ecstatic realizing what a miracle they have been given. Robert knows it is all going to just be perfect. They are going to follow all of the instructions. Julieta wants the surgery ASAP so they can just be as calm as they can be about it all. Robert remarks that life sure has changed their plans.

Amalia calls Belén from bed while Enzo sleeps. Amalia loves her and misses her. Belén misses her and loves her, too. Furthermore, she apologizes for being angry with Amalia. She understands that Amalia has to have her own life. Amalia laughs and says she is used to the fact that Belén is just bitter, sweet but bitter all the same. Amalia is doing fine getting used to living as a couple. Poor Enzo rolls over onto Amalia’s part of the bed and she pushes him back. Poor Enzo wakes up looking like he does not know what is going on. Amalia hangs up and asks Enzo for the quilt.

Blanca returns to Ana’s room. Witnessed by Robert and Julieta just outside the door, Blanca forgives the still sobbing Ana. She forgives Ana because she does not want to carry around so much pain and so that Ana can be happy if that is what she needs. Now, Blanca can feel the peace that she has not been able to feel in a long time. Blanca concludes that things had to happen as they did so her son could come to know his adoptive parents who are charming. If Ana did not do what she did, her son would not have had so many opportunities. He might have never been a doctor. Ana thanks Blanca for having done this for her. Ana does not know how to pay her back. Blanca just shakes her head. Blanca does not want to be the cause of Ana’s unhappiness. Blanca just wants to live her life in peace. Ana wishes her all the good things that she deserves.

Julieta suggests that Robert forgive Ana. He needs to do it for himself. Robert decides to follow the suggestion and the example of his mother. He goes into the room. Ana is not expecting forgiveness from Robert. They have talked already and she understands. She soon sees that Robert has changed his mind when he says he does not want to go on like this. His plate is full and he doesn’t want to waste his energy on other things. If his mother could forgive her, so can he and he forgives her from the bottom of his heart. Ana asks how she an ever pay them back. Robert says that is not necessary. His mother was right. If events had not happened the way they did, life would not be the same and he might not have ever met the love of his life. Ana does not know how to thank Blanca and Robert for what they did for her. Ana reaches for her phone and wants to pay them back all the money that they have paid to Tulio. She can do a bank transfer. Robert won’t accept that because the money was loaned to his grandmother and Tulio has it in his account. Blanca says they will find a way to pay Robert back. Robert says there is no need. He is just glad it is all over. Robert tells Ana that he will be keeping an eye on her.

Out in the hall. Julieta gives Blanca the good news. Blanca shouts for joy and gets shushed by a nurse. Blanca thinks that life is strange. Just when they adopted Dave, Julieta gets pregnant. They explain that they need to tell the family ASAP beacause Julieta is going to need their help with her surgery and complete rest. Blanca assures them that they will be prayed for everyday and helped with whatever is needed.

At the Córcega house, with all present, Julieta and Robert tell everyone the good news with boxes with yellow balloons (Robert and Julieta do not want to know the sex of the baby until it is born).

Robert and Julieta tell Dave about the baby. This is not good news for him. He does not want any brothers or sisters. He runs off to his room. Robert goes to talk to him. Robert understands what he is feeling: Dave is afraid. Robert felt afraid when his adoptive parents told him that another boy was coming to live with them. He was afraid they would take him away. Dave agrees that is how he feels. Robert wants him to know that nobody is going to take his place in the family. The baby is going to give him company and Dave is going to teach him a lot of things. Dave asks if they are going to love the baby more than him. Robert says no and assures him that they will never stop loving him. The baby is also going to love him a lot. They hug.

Bruno comes in and asks how Julieta is doing. She is just upset because Dave wasn’t excited about the new baby. Bruno says that is normal. She wasn’t exactly jumping fir joy when she found out he was going to be born. He tells her to calm down. She will find a way to handle it.

The female contingent of the Córcega’s and Mussi’s all join Daniela at a bridal salon. Daniela cannot imagine herself in one of theses dresses. She is going to look ridiculous. Linda asks her if she plans on getting married in a pair of white overalls. Daniela says obviously no but this is way too much.

Catalina comes over to see Julieta. She is sure that the dream was about Julieta being pregnant. Catalina will be there to help Julieta with whatever she needs. She is also happy that Bruno will be there to help her, too. Thst is when Bruno drops the bomb and tells her that he won’t be living there soon and about his scholarship in Europe. Catalina asks if he is talking about the continent. Yes, there is not another. . . (ha, ha)

Back at the bridal salon, everyone is having (looks like) mimosas. The Mussi sisters brought number cards so they can grade the dresses. Imelda tells Daniela to go try something on. She hss got to get the best bridal gown ever. Daniela smiles at Imelda.

Catalina is bemoaning the fact—to Bruno and Julieta—that her greatest fear is coming true: she is gong to be left alone. Hugo and Diana have ideas about becoming independent (of her). Now her little Bruno is going to the other side of the world. Catalina hopes that Bruno triumphs but she is going to miss him so much anyway. Bruno is going to miss her, too. Bruno also is upset about leaving Linda behind. Catalina says that Bruno knows that she is not crazy about Linda but if they are meant to be together, they will find each other again. All three of them hug. Bruno thanks Julieta for being so intent on helping him find his path in life. He loves her as much he can. Brother and sister hug. Catalina smiles through her tears.

Back at the bridal salon, everyone votes on every dress that Daniela holds up to show them. Nothing is doing the trick. Daniela is frustrated and worried that they will never find a dress that they all like. Imelda says they have no no worries since there are 35 more bridal salons. The Mussi girls cannot wait and clap their hands in glee.

Julieta explains to her employees she will be working from home and Luz will be in charge at the office.

Bruno goes to talk to Linda at the door of the Córcega apartment. He is leaving tomorrow after Julieta’s surgery. He thanks Linda for everything she gave him and for loving him like nobody ever has. He isn’t able to invite her to come with him because it would not be fair to her. He asks if she wants to continue their relationship long distance. Linda says no. She prefers that they end it. She is going to want to kiss him and hug him and won't be able to so it is better that he just leave being “free.” She kisses him one last time and goes back inside her apartment. Bruno is left standing alone and upset.

Marisol brigs Xavi some flowers and a demo of his new cd to Xavi’s old attic apartment as he is moving output, He never thought he would see a cd of his music again. He tells her that she is the best: manager and woman. She stares at him stone faced.

Outside of the Córcega’s, Dave and Frida are discussing if a younger sibling would be loved more than Dave . Frida concludes no way because they knew Dave first. Ignacio pops up to take Frida out for ice cream. Frida informs him that her mother told her that she can see him at only specifically pre-arranged times. She looks right past him as she sees Xavi’s piano being moved out. She tries to run over to tell Xavi not to go. Ignacio tries to hold her back but Marisol and XaviPull Frida back with them. Ignacio loses the little self control he has and goes for Xavi. They shuffle around in the street as Marisol tries to break them up before somebody gets hurt. All of the commotion in the street brings out Blanca, Eugenio, Robert and other bakers. Blanca ends up slapping Ignacio to get his attention. Marisol says that they could file charges against him if it were worth it. He just needs to leave.

Imelda visits Julieta and brings her a way to kill time: some yarn and knitting needles. Imelda is going to teach her and they can make a precious wardrobe for the baby. Julieta says that knitted baby clothes are not used so much anymore. Well, Imelda insists she is going to knit and Imelda will teach her lullabyes to sing to the baby. Robert and Dave arrive. Imelda asks him if Dave is happy with the new baby coming. Dave just looks down and shakes his head.

Audifaz has just finished his book. He is all emotional. He tells Polita that now he can finally say he is somebody. She congratulates him. She is going to read the book everyday to the baby when he is born. Audifaz says now the hard part is coming: getting it published.

Julieta is going for her surgery. Robert is taking her. Dave asks if she is leaving him for good Julieta says no. All three of them will be together forever. They both promise and she hugs him. Dave wants them to continue being a happy family. Bruno is going to watch Dave. Daniela and Gabriel will be coming by to play with him. Dave will pray for her.

Gabriel tells Daniela it is urgent that she find a dress. She knows but she cannot find anything in her style so they should push back the wedding. Gabriel is not for that. He wants them to organize the bachelor/bachelorette party. One party for both the women and the men. He has the perfect theme. Like magic, Gabriel has on a bear (?)costume. She loves it. The party is going to be a costume party!!!!

Tulio has come to see his mother. Eugenio informs Tulio that Imelda is talking to Audifaz so he can wait if he wants. He leaves Tulio standing alone in the living room.

Audifaz presents his book to Imelda. She praises him for writing his book when he had the worst obstacle in his own home: her (his mother). Audifaz disagrees. Imelda knows she was very hard on him. Audifaz just wanted to make more money to support this family since philosophy wasn’t doing it. Imelda tells him that man does not live by money alone. She is so proud of him. Everything he has to say in the book is so valuable. The whole Córcega family should read it to learn how to never lose faith. She thanks him for the best gift she has ever gotten in her life.

Julieta goes in for her surgery smiling in spite of remembering the sorrow and aftermath of her miscarriage. Robert will be in the operating room with her as Blanca and Catalina stay in the waiting room. Blanca tries to calm down a very nervous Catalina. She suggests that Catalina start trusting in God and not the psychics. Catalina admits sometimes they are wrong. Nobody predicted her Bruno would be going to Europe. He is going to study and at least he won’t be with her daughter Linda. Catalina did not like them being together one bit. Blanca did not even know that they were going out. Catalina admits that she was a selfish mother with Julieta. She never should have taken advantage of her like she did. Blanca tells her that they just have to accept their mistakes. They are improving. Blanca is not so intrusive and Catalina is more understanding. Blanca says the problem is that mothers want their children to avoid any kind of suffering but they cannot control their children’s lives. Catalina agrees.

Daniela wants to know where Gabriel got the costume from. He says it is from a secret place and he has one for her, too. While Julieta is in surgery he is going to inform everybody about the costume bachelor/ bachelorette party so they can get their costume. Daniela cannot see her dad or grandmother in a costume. She sees it as “obviously not.” Gabriel sees it as “obviously yes”. They will do it out of love. The party is tomorrow and is mixed: male and female.

As Julieta lies in the operating room she “thinks” a loving message to her unborn child about doing all she can to see it’s little face one day.

Marisol wins an achievement award at Cklass.

Tulio explains his attitude all of these years to Imelda. He felt so resentful with her and life itself that the only thing he had left to cling to was Ana. The two of them were just sinking deeper each day. Now he is alone and he realizes his mistakes and he apologizes on his knees for not valuing Imelda in his life. He was blind, mistaken. He begs her for her forgiveness. Imelda did not recognize all of the pain that he was hiding. She never should have asked him to leave Ana. He says he always blamed her for that. He could have saved his marriage to Ana, but he never did anything about it. He cries with his face in her lap. She strokes his back as if he were a child. He knows it is not going to be the same and that everyone is not going to see him as part of the family but he does want her forgiveness. He begs her again to forgive him. Imelda says the person who should be asking for forgiveness is her. Eugenio cannot believe what he is hearing on the other side of the door.

The surgery was a success!

Imelda thought she knew what was best for everyone. Tulio reminds her that she had to do it that way because of the responsibility that became hers when his father died. She agrees but it does not justify what she did. Imelda continues saying that she forced her ideas on them without realizing the harm she was doing. She is so proud of all of her children for forging on ahead in spite of her. He will always be her son until the day she dies. Finally, she tells him that the only one who is really going to forgive them both is God.

Robert tells Julieta that her surgery was so successful; so they can go home later today.

Another good one. Only four more left. So now it looks like the only major conflicts remaining are between Ignacio and the family and between Tulio and the family. I felt bad for Dave that he did not have more time as the “only” child. I was surprised but also pleased that Imelda did right by both of her sons. Gabriel’s bear costume looked like something but I am not sure it was a bear.

That is all for now.

Jarifa, you have somehow managed to surpass yourself. This was extraordinary.

The power of love and forgiveness were the central theme and your summary was amazing. “Blanca does not want to be the cause of Ana’s unhappiness”. I had to read it twice. Blanca transcended her raw pain to heal someone else. Not just anyone, but the person who inflicted more pain than anyone should have to bear.

“Robert says his mother was right. If events had not happened the way they did, life would not be the same and he might not have never met the love of his life”. Kindness beyond comprehension.

Tulio finally coming to his senses and asking forgiveness. Imelda taking responsibility for the hurt she caused: “He will always be her son until the day she dies. Finally, she tells him that the only one who is really going to forgive them is God. Humbling.

“Just when they adopted Dave, Julieta gets pregnant”. This mirrors what often happens in “real” life doesn’t it??

“Dave asks if they are going to love the baby more than him. Robert says no and assures him that they will never stop loving him. The baby is also going to love him a lot. They hug”. Wise, kind and reassuring words from Robert who understands firsthand that Dave needs assurance…

“Back at the bridal salon, everyone votes on every dress that Daniela holds up to show them”. OK, we were robbed. ANYONE who has ever seen “Say Yes to the Dress” knows that the dresses actually have to be tried on before the “voting” starts! I couldn’t believe she only held them up rather than putting them on! So disappointed!

I hope Audi’s book is a huge success. I am hoping Tulio will have it published. Audi was always there for him so he needs to reciprocate.

Jarifa, thank you for your incredible dedication. While the show is wonderful, you and the other recappers have added so much to be grateful for!

Diana

Jarifa, I cannot believe there are only 4 more episodes!

I know there is a lot more to explore but I hope the "sequel" manages to maintain the high caliber of writing, so prevalent here.

They need some strong story lines to compete with what has been offered so far. Xavi is the "hanging thread" I want most to be resolved. Seeing the family with their boxes without him there left a definite void for me.

I wish I cared more about Linda and Bruno...

Perhaps Bielen will have more of a story next time and more focus will be on Diana and Hugo.

I am really going to miss this.

Diana

Diana: Linda needs to make up her mind!

Diana, thanks. Might we have a happy ending without cliffhangers? It would be nice since we have a wedding maybe coming up quickly. ITA that a second season will have some pretty high standards to meet.

I was disappointed that we did not see any of the wedding dresses on Daniela. I was also hoping for a “Say Yes . . .” type of depiction. Her wedding dress better be good unless they do elope. . .

I cannot wait to see both Gabriel and Daniela in their costumes.

Good Morning! Thank you Jarifa for this very excellent recap!

I too was so looking forward to seeing Dani try on the dresses..so disappointing.

Jarifa, I thought the costume lookied morelike a mouse that a bear LOL

Diana, I'm with you in hoping that AUdi 's book is a success...what a great way for that family to move forward.

I just hate that this is the last week we will be enjoying this TN :-(

Thanks Jarifa!!!

The doc said Juli was only a couple of weeks pregnant so I was surprised they decided to announce it. Even without it being high risk, miscarriage in the first 3 months is usual. I know since we are at the end that we will get the happy ending but it felt too soon. I would have waited until after the wedding so that Dani can get all of the attention she has missed over the years too.

After not getting to see Dani try on dresses I hope we get to see her in a magical one at the wedding. The actress playing Dani has a huge chest which the wardrobe department has done a good job of hiding, with flattening sports bras and double t-shirts. We shall see what they decide to do with it for the wedding dress.

Imelda certainly has made peace with everyone I think now. Never a good sign for the character.

I can't see Tulio being welcomed back at the dinner table after keeping JP from the family for 34 years but his relationship with Audi is strong so maybe that will be enough for him.

I too hate that this is the last week. I think this has been my favorite TN.

Jarifa - Thank you for your recap! "Imelda's Apology Tour" is superb!!!

I will get to watch this during lunch. Can't wait!

Carvivlie - like you, it is surprising that the pregnancy was announced so early on, for the same reasons you gave.
"Imelda certainly has made peace with everyone I think now. Never a good sign for the character."
Good point!

Best thing Tulio can do at this point is tear up that loan document. Ana freely gave that money to Imelda with no strings attached, IIRC.

Ah, forgiveness, such a powerful theme in this telenovela, as it is a powerful act, in real life. It does not mean "forget".

Jarifa, thank for a great recap! I am so going to miss this TN.

Like everyone else, I was a bit disappointed that Oso did not try on some of those dresses, but I think they just want to really surprise us at the wedding. Dani is really cute but she has been constantly, partially hiding it dressed something like a tomboy. But cute is cute, and she is cute :-)

I don't see any elopement coming up. The show's producers would be in physical danger from so many fans, complete with pitchforks and torches, looking to burn down the studio.

Something completely different: Belén should not get too used to living alone. It's hard to believe that Amalia, having finally found love, could be so insufferable. Maybe Enzo can't make it back for a second season?
I was never completely sold on this romance anyway.

Diana, OK, we were robbed. ANYONE who has ever seen “Say Yes to the Dress” knows that the dresses actually have to be tried on before the “voting” starts!

This is interesting. Is “Say Yes to the Dress” a real thing???

Yes, Andy on TLC.

As Jarifa noted Andy, yes, "Say Yes to the Dress" is indeed real!

Many brides pass through the doors of Kleinfeld's in NY, some nice, some not so nice in search of the "perfect" dress.

Sometimes the "aha" moment is realized with dress one. Other times, after many and sometimes not at all.

I have to agree with Gabi's sisters for once. I wouldn't mind traipsing around bridal stores looking at beautiful dresses either.

That is provided they are actually worn, not hung around the neck. :)

Sigh.

Diana

Another superb recap, Jarifa! I too will miss this tn. Yep, Diana, lots of apologies and forgiveness this episode. It's sort of valedictory. I was impressed that Julieta didn't quit her job but will work by computer from home. It is a new era! Luz will be an excellent on-site surrogate. As I recall, Sophia Loren suffered from the same kind of cervical weakness in both her pregnancies and had to spend them on bed rest. (Yes, i am that old). Again, will Enzo and Amalia last? I suspect only if Amalia changes her ways somewhat. I guess Robert has paid Tulio--at least enough to get him off their backs. Even without her trying them on, those dresses would probably not have looked good on Dani. I hope she comes up with something a little more innovative--without being white overalls. In this episode or the last didn't Frida say something about if it's overalls, it better have a train. Hilarious! And I could hardly believe that Cata actually said something sensible about Bruno and Linda. Her guru told Linda that after obstacles they would be together, didn't he? Maybe just foreshadowing.

Diana and Jarifa, thank you both! I had no idea, but since you told me it's a show I Googled it and read a bit about it on Wikipedia. Up to the point where it said "Dresses sold on the show range from $1,300 to $40,000."

OMG! OK, I've got the idea now, no need to read any further. Maybe the Osos should elope.

:-)

The sisters really knew how to go dress shopping. Mimosas and yes/no cards are essential! But as you all know who watch Say Yes, big parties never help the bride. Too many opinions. I actually think Dani should go by herself or with Juli or someone less invested in the ceremony than these two families. Looking forward to the costume party!

Andy, yes! Every bride is asked if there is a budget the consultant "should be respectful of". And when the answer is "unlimited' or "there is no budget", the consultant's eyes glaze over. Commission$$$$ :)

SpanProf, I'm kind of thinking they are going to do some kind of "update" or "glamming up" (I was thinking pants, not overalls! Sigh :)

I want to see her in something that will knock Gabi's eyes out!!

Diana

Carvivlie, yes, too many opinions are tough - you are spot on.

And isn't there usually one person whose opinion matters most?? Usually it's the mother, but here? Not so sure. I would say Gabi but it seems he is not involved (no roosters in the hen house I imagine).

Diana

Thanks, Jarifa. Super job.

Poor Enzo wakes up looking like he does not know what is going on. Amalia hangs up and asks Enzo for the quilt.

Wondering where this is going. Did Enzo just now realize how pushy Amalia is?

Linda asks her if she plans on getting married in a pair of white overalls.
Linda has her good points. Maybe she’ll find them after Bruno leaves.

Blanca ends up slapping Ignacio to get his attention.

Squee!

Gabriel is no fool. He saw how pitiful Robert’s bachelor party was until they crashed the bachelorette's. And costumes too? I'm in.

Niecie in MD --- "Linda has her good points. Maybe she’ll find them after Bruno leaves."
LOL!!! We can only hope.

While I understand Catalina's sense of loss over Bruno going to Europe, she really needs to get a life, whether it is volunteer work, a paid job, what-ever, anything that will broaden her horizons or scope of life.

Enzo did NOT look like a happy camper. And I don't blame him. Most people are on their best behavior until after the wedding. Run, Enzo, run!

Ok. That costume Gab had on did not look like a bear. I don't know what it was, but bear outfits need fur. Right?

Given the propensity of Gab & Dani to be a bit unconventional in most aspects of their life and relationship, I expect the wedding attire may be somewhat unconventional, too. Must see TV!

Blanca slapping Ick-nacio was just sooo satisfying. (you go, girl!) Ick suffers from Terminal Entitlement Mentality.
He believes he is entitled to:
- have an extra-marital affair
- not pay his child support
- see/take Frida whenever he likes and ignore court orders
- prevent his now ex-wife from having a new man in her life
- treat everyone around him like dirt and make them miserable just because he is miserable.
Seriously, can someone puh-leeze push him out in front of a moving bus or truck?

Doris: But then wouldn't people have to pardon him the way Blanca and Robert pardoned Ana?:)

I never understood the need for everyone to put their two cents in about the wedding dress. "Say Yes" notwithstanding, it should be the bride, and only the bride, who decides what she likes/wants. Others' opinions should be offered only when and IF she asks for them. I've attended several weddings, mine included, where absolutely no one knew what the wedding gown looked like and in each case, the result was a collective sigh at the stunning bride.

I had a sister-in-law who was very picky and steadfast about what she wanted (the bodice of this one, the back of that one, the sleeves of the other one, etc, etc), so my Mom ended up making her gown. The three of us visited a humongous number of bridal shops went to bridal shows, etc, in the hunt for the perfect dress - the bride to make the decisions, the mother-in-law to see how the work (lace, beading, buttons, etc) was done, and the sister-in-law (me) to take notes and sketch ... it was a loong year, but the results were worth it!

The "Oso" costume looked like little kids' pajamas.

If we weren't nearing the end of this show, Blanca and Cat fussing over Juli--poor thing stuck at home--would drive her to miscarriage. I still think the stress of Cat saying she wouldn't attend the wedding, Blanca and Imelda stating how awful the invitations were and being just totally obnoxious about the whole wedding choices did have some affect on Juli losing the first pregnancy. She was so stressed.

Blanca slapping Icky was the slap heard round the world! So awesome and necessary. He deserves a few more. I just hate that all of this took place in front of Frida--or had she been pushed inside the door by then?

Thank you evryoine for stopping by and for your kind comments.

For me, I wish that Daniela would have gone and gotten the wedding dress on her own.

Anon, 22:23 ITA. I never have understood even on “Say yes . . “ why the bride needs anybody else’s input on her dress. It is her wedding after all.

doris and Carvivlie, I also enjoyed the slap.

Niecie, I loved “Linda has her good points. Maybe she will find them after Bruno leaves.” Very true. I was happy that she broke up with him rather than spending a couple of years on the “long distance line” which she could have done. My e this is th first step in her maturing.

RgvChick, yes!! the costume looked more like a Marissa the rat costume if it only had a rat tail . . .

SpanProf, I sure agree that Catalina did say something sensible about Bruno and Linda. I could see them getting back together in the future.
