Papa a Toda Madre #4 1.18.18: Business Lessons from a Professional Playboy

The funeral director tells Renee that Lupe paid all the outstanding bills. Renee is shocked.

Outside Logatoys, Neron and Renee discuss what Lupe did. Neron doesn’t know what she should do but Renee is going to pay Lupe back because he shouldn’t be doing those things for her anyway. Neron wishes he could give her some money, but he’s barely getting severance pay, though Renee has an idea on where to get the money to pay Lupe and pay for her Masters.

Jorge informs Mauricio and Fabian that, without Mr. Fairbanks as an investor, they will need layoff half the staff to take care of the most pressing debts. Mauricio is against it, as they barely get paid minimum wage, but barely knows if his employees are salaried or hourly, let alone Jorge’s actual name. Fabian asks Jorge to leave them alone and reveals that he has found a last minute investor as there is a knock on the door. Fabian goes to answer and it’s Renee, who comes asking for a loan from Logatoys, much to their chagrin.

One of the Logatoys employees informs Neron that his severance pay will take a bit to process as there is a lot of paperwork involved. Neron nods and tells him he can wait, especially since he’s worked all these years.

Renee explains that this loan would be an investment for her future and for the company’s as well as she would pay them back in innovation when she graduates. Fabian tries to explain the company’s situation but Renee hands them a presentation where she outlines her studies plan, her debts and payment plan. Mauricio has no idea how to read any of it and Renee offers to do a formal presentation but Fabian stops her and explains that the company is in dire straits though Mauricio tells her that they will look over her proposal and reconsider. He ushers out but she knocks again to thank him for seeing her and to congratulate him for his wedding. Mauricio. Mauricio reveals that he didn’t get married, and neither did Renee, so Mauricio smiles wide and asks if her presentation has her cell. Renee sighs and leaves as Mauricio closes the door. He tells Fabian that Renee is cute, albeit serious, though Fabian chides him for giving her false hope. Mauricio is confident that they will get the investor and he tells Fabian to pretend everything is fine for the time being. Fabian sighs deeply.

Jorge calls Tono to inform him of the possible layoffs and Tono asks if Veronica’s job is in danger. Jorge tells him that all their jobs are on the line and they should be careful. Tono thanks him and hangs up. Veronica then comes and asks him what Jorge called about. Tono tells her it was nothing and then calls all the kids over to celebrate their Orlando trip.

Jorge researches Isauro Ventura and finds various articles detailing how a prestigious firm, lead by Dulce, secured his release. He then sees a picture of Isauro and Dulce walking hand-in-hand and wonders if he is her lover. He then finds out that Isauro left the country suddenly, lest they want to charge him with something else, and Jorge continues to stress.

Renee goes to thank Lupe at the hospital and promises to pay him back as soon as possible. Lupe doesn’t need her to pay him back but Renee smiles and promises she will find a solution soon. She then notices his face and asks him what the problem is. Lupe confesses that he feels bad about how and when he confessed his feelings for her but promises that, should she ever accept him, he will share everything in his life with her even if he can’t bring the moon and stars to her feet. Renee remembers when her mother told her that “the perfect man will want to share his whole life with her but will still be modest and honest.” She asks Lupe if he meant what he said, with tears in her eyes.

Mauricio and Fabian go over strategies to convince the potential investor. Mauricio is overconfident but Fabian has reservations. The investor, Leopoldo Falcon, who was also at the first investor meeting, knocks then and he shakes hands with them. They sit down and Leopoldo asks Fabian to leave him alone with Mauricio. Fabian obliges and Leopoldo reveals that his intention is to buy Logatoys, not be his investor. Mauricio is shocked.

Lupe begs Renee to forget what he said and instead pretend like nothing happened and remain friends. Renee smiles and nods and Lupe offers to take her to lunch but gets called away by an intercom announcement. After a kiss on the cheek, he leaves Renee with her thoughts.

Mauricio is surprised that Leopoldo has the audacity to even suggest buying Logatoys but Leopoldo thought he knew. Mauricio argues that his company has plenty to give still but Leopoldo knows the company is almost bankruptcy though Mauricio assures him it’s not that bad. Either way, Mauricio doesn’t want to sell but Leopoldo knows he prefers to do other things than manage a toy company. Mauricio explains that Logatoys is all he has left of his family and he won’t give it up. Leopoldo suggests he think his offer over and leaves.

Jorge calls Valentina to see how things are and she tells him that everything is fine. He then tells her to feed Samuel and make dinner before asking her to check for some document he needs in the nightstand with the passports. She obliges and finds his passport and Dulce’s. Valentina wonders why he cares about the passports but Jorge laughs off her question and hangs up.

Renee goes to talk to Wilma about her current financial situation; she thought she had the loan for her master’s but it turns out she does not and she has to pay her tuition in dollars. She asks Wilma for suggestions but Wilma doesn’t have any and warns Renee that she will have to give the university a deposit soon or lose her place. Renee is resilient though and hopes Logatoys will give the loan she asked for. Wilma will stall for time and hopes she gets the loan soon.

Fabian doesn’t understand why Mauricio won’t sell Logatoys but Mauricio argues that he can’t look like a loser in front of everyone. Fabian thinks Mauricio is thinking about his new daughter, Anifer, and Mauricio slightly shrugs. He then asks Fabian if he found Maria Cruz but Fabian shakes his head. Mauricio asks him to hire someone but Fabian reminds him that they have no money to look for her so he should be patient and care for his daughter. Mauricio then remembers all he has to do to take care of Anifer and begins to cry into his cup of tea.

The Barrientos family is having the time of their life in the Orlando water parks. All of them smile and laugh as they go on the various rides. As Veronica takes care of the kids, Tono begins to count all the money they wasted and can’t fathom how they’ve spent so much. Veronica asks him to calm down, as he’s always the first one to say they should relax, and Tono cringes because he can’t.

Mauricio tiptoes into his apartment, to make sure Anifer doesn’t see him, but Ruby sees him and tells him that he needs to take Anifer out more because she can’t be alone all day. He shrugs, notices his decorations are all moved around and screams for Anifer to come immediately. Anifer explains that this is also her house and she thought they looked better that way. Mauricio tells her she is only a visitor and goes to move everything back where it was though he fails miserably.

That night, Renee serves herself tea and researches Mauricio’s wedding online. She finds various articles explaining that the wedding was cancelled though the reasons why are unknown. Lupe then knocks and Renee is surprised as she thought he had the night shift. Lupe does but decided to bring her a treat: her favorite cookies. Renee is shocked, as they are not easy found, and smiles.

Mauricio is looking at pictures of Miranda online when Anifer comes and scares him. Mauricio chides her for doing so and Anifer, who saw the picture sofa the wedding, asks him why he is not getting married. Mauricio explains that he had baggage she didn’t want to care for but Anifer thinks she should’ve, if she really loved him. Mauricio is doubtful as someone’s baggage is a lot of work but Anifer thinks that, if it’s your job, you should do it well. She then asks if he enjoys his job and Mauricio thinks about Leopoldo’s offer as Anifer tells Mauricio that he should find new things to do if he’s bored with his life. She then tells him a secret: all his toys should have wings so they can fly. Mauricio nods and then tells her to go to her room but Anifer doesn’t have one and their conversation is cut short when Mauricio receives a phone call. Anifer can’t help but sigh deeply.

Lupe looks at Renee’s research into loans and her masters on her computer and thinks it’s great she is trying to keep her mind occupied, despite everything. She hopes to find a loan for her master’s soon and Lupe then sees Mauricio’s picture and asks about him. Renee smiles when she looks at his picture.

Jorge sits down on his bed as Samuel asks about Dulce. Jorge doesn’t know when she will be back but assures him he can ask for anything he needs. Valentina then announces that dinner is ready and Samuel goes to wash his hands. Valentina asks Jorge about the papers he was looking for but Jorge barely remembers and asks her to go get everything ready. Once alone, he changes the location of the passports from his nightstand to the dresser.

Renee explains that she was curious to know why Mauricio didn’t go through with the wedding, just like her, and looked it up. Lupe thinks Mauricio is young, successful and handsome, so it’s not strange she would look him up but Renee just wanted to find out more about Logatoy’s financial standing since Mr. Fairbanks is no longer investing in the company. Lupe nods and then asks about Alejandro. Renee tells him that she hasn’t heard of him and has more important things to think about than him. She then goes into the kitchen and Lupe decides to take his leave as dinner hour at the hospital is almost over.

Mauricio goes to the club with one of his party friends, Sebastian, who suggests they take a relaxation trip to wherever and forget everything that happened. Mauricio agrees but, as soon as Sebastian brings up Anifer, Mauricio reconsiders and states that he is also busy at work. Sebastian can’t understand how Logatoys is even functioning, as kids don’t play with toys anymore, and Mauricio explains that he has new plans for the company to take it into the third millennium: space odyssey. Sebastian congratulates him on his innovation and then asks him for some of his ideas. Mauricio is stumped for a moment and then remembers what Anifer said about all his toys flying and tells Sebastian that they are planning a new line of toys including space shuttles and drones.

The next morning, Mauricio tells Fabian his drone idea, very excitedly, but Fabian is doubtful, as they don’t have any money. Mauricio explains that he has an idea, a completely separate business focused on drones but Fabian wonders if Mauricio will accept Leopoldo’s offer so they can have capital to invest. Mauricio winks but doesn’t answer.

Renee goes to pick up Neron, because she forgot he was already retired, and he notices that she looks very sad. Renee admits that it’s hard without Catalina but she’s pushing forward and trying to get a loan for her masters at Logatoys. Neron wonders if things are going that well at the company and Renee thinks they are and they have nothing to worry about.

Mauricio explains that they have to look toward the future and find new toys, if they want to survive. Fabian asks if Anifer gave her this brilliant idea but Mauricio doesn’t answer. Instead, he proposes they use the drone to find Maria Cruz and get rid of Anifer, once and for all. Just then, Jorge comes in and asks if the news is true, that he’s selling Logatoys to Leopoldo. Mauricio explains that he is and forming a new company but Jorge wonders what will happen with Logatoy’s employees. Mauricio already has a plan: layoff the oldest and take the newest with him. He then asks Jorge to get the deed, etc. for the sale but Fabian reminds him that Bosco gave those to the notary because he was afraid that Mauricio would do something inappropriate with them. Mauricio asks Jorge to do it but he can’t even remember his actual name.

Flor asks Neron what gifts he would like for Milady’s baptism though Neron thinks they are going too fast. Flor thinks they are going fine and asks if they should make a trip to visit his two sons since they can’t come and see them. Neron will discuss it with them and get back to her but Flor can’t talk about it anymore as Milady soiled her diaper and they are so cheap it went through her hand. As she goes to change the baby, Neron goes outside and finds his two sons, Ciceron and Socrates, waiting for him. He is surprised and wonders what will happen now.

Leopoldo arrives and sits with Mauricio as Jorge arrives with the documents and a big surprise: Bosco stipulated that he can’t sell Logatoys until his descendants reach the age of 20; or until his recently appeared daughter, Anifer, is 20 years old. Mauricio is shocked but thinks that they can do something to bypass the clause in the deed documents though Jorge explains that he can’t or there will be legal consequences. Leopoldo leaves then, in a huff, and Mauricio orders Jorge and Fabian to find a solution because Bosco, from the grave, won’t ruin his new idea.

Ciceron and Socrates try to go inside the house, so they can relax, but Neron explains that he recently fumigated and they can’t come inside. He then remembers Flor and Milady and goes back after begging his children to wait. Just then, Milady begins to cry and his sons wonder what is happening. Neron says it’s a cat, but they remember he’s allergic, though Neron explains he no longer isn’t and runs inside for a moment.

Mauricio arrives home and Anifer gives his leg a big hug and welcomes him. Mauricio is mad to see she’s still there, annoying him, and demands she call him Mauricio and go to her room. Anifer riles him up with questions about his day and Mauricio explains that his baggage is getting the better of him but he will figure it out. He then asks for a photo of Maria Cruz but Anifer doesn’t have one though she can draw her. Mauricio shakes his head as Ruby comes and explains that she’s leaving to see her family for the day and leaves. Mauricio is shocked that he will have to care for Anifer, alone.

Neron explains to Flor that he can’t go with her because he has to go a favor for his friend and runs out before she demands an explanation.

Fabian arrives at Mauricio’s and he asks if Jorge found a solution. Fabian shakes his head and Mauricio then tells him that he thought about putting a message for Maria Cruz on social media but decide against it as “the jungle people” from her village won’t have even the latest technology to see it. Anifer then comes with a picture of Maria Cruz and asks if she should use his last name or her mother’s to sign the picture. Mauricio realizes that Anifer is not legally his daughter, yet, and runs to go see Jorge. Anifer stops him in his tracks though and asks if he is going to leave her alone. Mauricio thinks she can take care of herself but Anifer promises to play with his decorations if he doesn’t take her with him. Mauricio considers this and then takes her with him.

Renee finds Jorge in his office and asks him about the company’s financial situation because she asked for a loan. Jorge reveals that Mauricio plans to sell the company to start another, since he lost his investor, and they have no idea what will happen in the future. Renee thinks it could be for the best and Jorge then asks to be left alone as Valentina is calling him. Valentina begs him to let her go to the movies, as she’s been cooped up all week, and Jorge reluctantly agrees after asking for more details.

In the factory, Renee goes through the assembly line and asks the workers to do a better job though many of them are doing a poor job since they are worried about their job security. Renee understands their concerns but assures them that they can’t give up. She then stops short and promises to find out the truth right from the horse’s mouth.

Moments later, she goes up to Mauricio’s office and asks Gladys if Mauricio and Fabian are in. Gladys tells her they aren’t in and chides her for sneaking pass her the other day. Renee waves off her comment and asks if she knows when they will be back. Gladys doesn’t know and asks that she leave but Renee wonders if she knows the news about the sale of Logatoys. Gladys didn’t, and is mad that she didn’t know, though Renee promises to find out the truth and leaves.

Neron shows his sons another potential location for his “new business venture” (or idea he cooked up so they won’t run into Flor and Milady) but his sons think he shouldn’t get into a new business at his age. They offer their support if he wants, either way, and then ask if they can go eat at home. Neron suggests they go to a restaurant instead but then his phone rings and he goes to answer it a few feet away.
Mauricio leaves Anifer with Gladys and demands she take care of her and take her on a tour of Logatoys, if she wants. When they lock themselves in their office, Gladys takes the little girl on the tour.

Flor tells Neron that she found some cute things for Milady and Neron is happy but suggests she go eat somewhere along the way. Flor agrees and Neron hangs up as his sons decide to go home for dinner. Neron begs them to let him clean up first but they insist as his phone rings. He walks a few feet answers but this time it’s Jorge, who asks him for a favor: make sure someone picks up his kids at the school. Neron agrees and then tells his children that he will go clean up for a bit and then they can go home. He runs off and they follow.

Gladys finishes the tour but Anifer wants to see the toy assembly line. Gladys can barely contain her bladder as Anifer continues to insist on seeing the assembly line. Just then, Renee arrives and asks to see Mauricio and Fabian. Gladys tells her that they are busy and Renee sees Anifer and says hello. Gladys can’t hold it anymore and grabs Anifer’s hand as runs off to the bathroom. She instructs the girl to wait for her outside but Anifer runs off instead.

In his office, Mauricio calls Leopoldo to tell him he can sign immediately and hangs up. Mauricio tells Fabian and they smile as Mauricio wonders if Leopoldo will keep his employees. Fabian assures him he will and Mauricio shrugs because he prefers to be free of all his burdens. Fabian wonders if he means Logatoys or Anifer and Mauricio tells him that it’s both. Either way, he doubts Maria Cruz will come back any time soon like Anifer thinks. Neither of them notice that Anifer is at the door, listening in on their conversation..

AAA, thanks again, you da Man! And a really busy one this week :-)

I was beginning to seriously wonder is this was a real TN. Nobody was standing at or outside the door listening to someone else's private conversation. What kind of TN is that?

OK, we now have Dr Lupe listening to Catalina giving advice to Renee and Anifer listening to Mauricio say he doubts her mother will come back for her, really upsetting her. Good enough, we are back in telenovelalandia!

And is Dr Lupe using his eavesdropping to say all the right things when he is sweet talking Renee? It looks that way. You sneaky devil, you. I approve and think you should get a prize, doc. But sorry, it won't be Renee.

Doris, you were so right about Anifer sounding like Alvin and the chipmunks. I have some high frequency hearing loss in at least one ear, and it still hurt to listen to her :-)

Andy I too, have some high freq hearing loss...but not enough. It is surprising how closely Mauscreechio can mimic her.

Thank you, Alfredo, for that speedy, detailed recap.

It seems as though the unique hook in this show is going to be the English sprinkled throughout each episode. I heard Fabian yell " NO MONEY." The guys call each other "bro." Mau said "mi right hand" when referring to Fabian. He also said "star wars. " A few years ago, I read that 75% of high school students worldwide are studying English, so maybe this show is a PSA.

Another familiar face..handsome Sebastian.

The cold continues ...8 when I left the house today at 5.15 a.m.

I love Renee's home..so cute and cozy.

If Veronica's family is in Disney World, I can confirm that it is a money pit. We took our whole family there for a week about a year ago.

My hearing is fine, but Squeaky might just damage it.

Well, I'm part of the high-frequency hearing loss club too and that child is still overwhelming. Presumably she's on her way to an early case of nodules on her vocal cords as we try to shield our ears.

But back to you Alfredo, thanks for another splendid recap. Always love these mysterious clauses in the wills that limit our protagonists' choices.

Haven't seen this yet but was Mauricio peppering his lines with lots of English again or has he calmed down. Sounds like our Dr. Lupe is sweet but sneaky so that doesn't bode well if Renée falls for Mauricio. And of course she will.

Good morning to all from the frozen hinterlands. Columbus is frothing at the mouth about being among the 20 finalists for a new Amazon location, even as urban planners warn about the increase in traffic and cost of living for the rest of us poor rubes who aren't hired on there. Tough choices. But hope they treat their employees better than Logatoys.

Alfredo, thanks for another excellent recap this week. You got all of the details and there were many.

I wonder why Nerón’s doesn’t want his sons to know about their new half-sister.

Toño was a hoot watching his money just melt away at Disney.

I wonder how Renée is going to finance her graduate work and if they picked the girl who plays Anifer just because she was so squeaky.

So many questions . . .

Susanlynn and JudyB, it will be in 30’s here today. I am lucky I can finally go get the car washed!

Good morning patio!

I got home too late to see this but thanks once again to Alfredo, our very own miracle man, felt I missed nothing due to your excellent recap.

"After a kiss on the cheek, he leaves Renee with her thoughts". You make the simplest actions so profound.

“Lupe confesses that he feels bad about how and when he confessed his feelings for her but promises that, should she ever accept him, he will share everything in his life with her even if he can’t bring the moon and stars to her feet”. Oh my. Tears…

"Mauricio is against it, as they barely get paid minimum wage, but barely knows if his employees are salaried or hourly, let alone Jorge’s actual name". Maru is dazed and confused and I suspect if not for his amazing looks, would have crashed and burned long ago.

He is fighting the tidal wave Anifer. I don't think we need to wonder she will capture his heart. It's just a question of when.

Andy and Kirby, you are making me smile today. Thank you!

Judy, good luck to Columbus! And if it happens, I also hope they "treat their employees better than Logatoys". :)

Jarifa, I think Nerón still feels like he is cheating on his deceased wife. His failing to tell his sons about their sister is a recipe for disaster.

Stay warm everyone! That's what I'm trying to do - barely 20 this morning.

Thanks again Alfredo!

Diana

Good morning , judyb and jarifa. We left our cars out in the rain the other day to wash them off.

Ot. Judyb...I noticed that Philly and Toronto are also on the short List. In recent years , local farmers have sold their land to developers and !it's of warehouses have gone up due to our location .The truck traffic is awful and hard on the roads. Progress??????

Yes Mau is still giving English lessons to the viewers.

Perhaps, Neuron does not want his sons to know that he has been bunnyhopping with a young bunny who seems to be about their age.

Alfredo - Thank you for your recap! These characters talk so fast and the CCs on our TV/DVR are the pits.

In the very first scene where Mau is behind his desk (talking with Fabian), he is holding and petting a toy drone(?). It reminded me of Dr. Evil and Mr. Bigglesworth. Ack.

Oh Mau, you are so broken-hearted over your bodus interruptus that you're now hitting on Renee? Puh-leeze.

So now we know that Neron's sons are clueless about Flor's existence.

Good picture that Anifer drew of her mom, but it could be anyone. Could a closer look reveal an identifying clue? Sure, Ani, go ahead and put your mom's last name on it! Help Mau figure out who she is.

I'm still putting money on Dulce's "Blanca Nieve" having some connection to Anifer's Mom. My predictions never come true. #trackrecord

Oooh, Sebastian. Play-uh. With your shirt unbuttoned halfway down your chest. He looks like Jaime Camil's wing man Omar Carvahal(?) in La Fea Mas Bella.

DisneyWorld et all ARE money pits. Been there, spent that. Ugh.

JudyB - y'all can have Amazon. Nashville is a finalist, too, and we've had enough growth here in the past three years that driving in this town is an absolute nightmare. Middle of the day traffic looks like rush hour from ten years ago. Massive wrecks that turn interstates into parking lots is the new normal. Nowadays, a smart person checks Google Maps Traffic before leaving the house. I'm serious. We are getting 100 people a day(!) moving here for the past three years. Ugly condos & apartments going up everywhere. Not enough schools, daycare, hospital beds, roads, etc. I'm so tired of us being the "It" city. We do not need Amazon thankyouverymuch. It's yours. Anyone's. But please not us. Rant over.

Good Morning, Patio Peeps!! AAA, thank you for another of your stellar recaps. I agree with everyone, so many details and you got them all!

Well, the first episode I said Anifer was cute...and she is. I have no hearing loss, but the squeaky voice is getting to me along with Mau's..is that his normal voice?

Susy, another familiar face other than Sebastian is Ciceron, formerly known as Calao (Carlos Speitzer) in Doble Vida...hope his new fate ends up better than the former one.

More later...

Susanlynn - Bunnyhopping ... indeed. LOL!

Good morning..Diana. Winter and colds here . #coughsneezewheeze #coatscarfglovesboots. And to think that I used to love winter...skating on the pond , snow forts, and sledding down big hills.

doris, I like your idea of a “Snow White” connection. Who knows? This might break your track record. They had to mention that case for a reason . . .

Diana, it would be funny if Nerón’s sons did not even know about Flor.

doris, JudyB, no worries, we’ll take Amazon up in Chicago. The traffic has always been a mess. Don’t think it will happen though. Nicer weather elsewhere. : )

Good Morning Frozen Friends. I have to say, I find the English Bombs/Sprinkles the most entertaining. Mia from CET was a female star in Despertar Contigo, and they did it on a grande scale in that show. She had a BFF who would be blabbering away at 200 miles an hour, as they do in Spanish, then an "Are you crazy girl?' speed bump would just pop up right in the middle of it all. I just thought it hilarious.

OT. I was buried in working on my Internet router last night and did not turn the TV off after this show, and CET AKA 'Where even Happy People are Miserable" came on.
There is some main chaaracter Ruele or Rolo or something, and he played Mia (Maia's) Dad with her in Despertrar Contigo. He was friggin hilarious in that show, a far cry from what I saw last night.

That's my report for mow, back to you in the studio.

Doris, thanks for commenting on the SPEED of the dialogue. I know my thought processes are slowing down as I age, but comedies in Spanish have always been a struggle for me because they talk so much faster than in the more serious dramas for some reason. I remember years ago when I was just starting to watch telenovelas, I liked the father in Heridas de Amor because he talked so deep and SLOW. Squeaky and fast, not good. Like the traffic in Nashville. Jarifa, you made me laugh. Yep, traffic in Chicago and around Chicago has always been scarifying. But I love the energy of your town. You can feel it the minute you step off the plane. Just super-charged vibe about the place. Enjoy that car wash!

Diana, sorry you got home so late. Your days are very long and exhausting, in addition to this bone-chilling cold. Sending you warm energy vibes my friend.

AAA, correction, Mr. AAA thank you. I do not know how you do it, but you do, thanks again.

I couldn't believe Dorkley..scratch that... Jorge..went online and found pictures of his wife cozyed up with a fellow who makes him look like a cub scout dropout. What was your first clue Dorkley? You weren't suspicious that she didn't need medical attention for a headache that lasted four years? Wake Up Son.

And then there is the Good? Doctor Loopy. He is one or two unexpected dropins away from stalker land, 'favorite cookies' or none. Renee needs to start quenching his fire as gently as possible before the whole building goes up in flames.

I have to say, I have never really paid much attention to Tacher in his roles, but in this one, he does us males of the species justice. He is pretty well turned out. I haven't seen his shoes yet, that is crucial too, but the ties and lapel pins, etc are pretty sharp. Especially as compared to Mauricio, whose attention span is apparently such that he gets distracted halfway up in the process of buttoning his shirts. I start from the top and work down, but I suppose there is no best way.

What was in Tono's hair last night when they were at Disney? It looked like a headband and he looked like a chick who needed a shave.

Jarifa, wouldn't it be something if Nerón’s sons don't know about Flor? That didn't occur to me. I know little but I think I can safely say she would NOT be happy about that!

Rgv Chick, looking forward to seeing "Sebastian. Play-uh." (thanks doris!)

Susanlynn, stay warm! Only 10+ weeks of winter weather left. Blech. :)

Kirby, thanks for the info on CET (where everyone is indeed miserable). I didn't see DC and can't envision "Rueda" lighthearted and funny. He is anything but here.

Judy, thank you for your kind words. You are so thoughtful.

Diana

Good morning,. Doris.

Yeah,bunnyhopping followed by....diaperchanging.....ha.

Chickie..oh..I thought that Ciceron looked familiar. I think that be had a mustache in DV, so he looks younger here.

In honor of the players in this show, today's music selection is "This Time I'm in It for Love" by Player. Enjoy on YouTube. And a shout out to our favorite patio DJ..Madeline.

Great choice! I join you in your shoutout to Madeline!

Diana, "I think Nerón still feels like he is cheating on his deceased wife. His failing to tell his sons about their sister is a recipe for disaster." That seems to be a good reason for Neron to keep Flor and the baby a secret. I also think Susy makes a good point, "Neuron does not want his sons to know that he has been bunnyhopping with a young bunny who seems to be about their age." And that he has a baby that could be his granddaughter...

Kirby, "I have to say, I find the English Bombs/Sprinkles the most entertaining." I have to agree with you on that...I'm still waiting to be "hooked" by this TN.

I'm nibbling at the bait myself but they haven't set the hook yet . But, after being in the same house as CET for going on an hour and not even watching or paying attention, I'd take a hands-on course in septic tank cleaning in this weather over another episode of those cretins.

And if tentaci'on translates to temptation, the only thing I saw tempting last night was a bottle of what looked to be scotch on a table toward the end of the episode. :-).

Thanks Alfredo!!!

I am having a really hard time understanding this one because they talk so fast. I really need these recaps!!!

I love little Anifer's voice. Yes it is high pitched but it is so sweet. I'm a sucker for this little girl.

So the old guy hasn't told his sons he married a woman their age and now has a baby? Are they married?

So Tono now is worried about money after his convo with Jorge. Oh boy. Are Jorge and Tono related? Or Jorge and Neron? I feel like we are missing a family connection somewhere. I know Neron is Renee's padrino but are the others just neighbor friends?

Ahh...Thank you Susanlynn...dear Madelaine...

Diana

I'm enjoying this show, but I can't figure out what I'm supposed to be enjoying. At first I thought "OK I sympathize with Mauri, 'Don't answer the phone on Father's Day', me too." And then Miranda and friends came along and I thought we were on the right track, "that dog will hunt". But today, I feel like I just saw a Spanish episode of Seinfeld. We're just missing the fat kid who works for the post office.

But I'm with Carvivlie, the little girl is so precocious and cute, and doesn't shrink from her "Daddy", no matter what he flings at her. She just takes it in stride and is trying to sort out her new life in 'her' new house with her pappy.

Anifer is amazingly well adjusted. And I love how she remembers everything her mama said. It sounds like she has a wonderful mom and they had a very strong relationship. I really hope the mom comes back in the end. After Mi Marido, Ramon and CET, it would be nice to see a show where a child doesn't lose his/her parent.

Kirby..I know what you mean about Caer. I gave up after the first few episodes. This winter with the cold and snow is depressing enough. I need a show that I can make fun of. I am pretending that I am having a cuppa tea and a couple of those special cookies with cutieface Renee in her cute house. #escapismdonotjudgeme

SusanLynn, as far as serious TNs: I do not need a TN to teach me anything about life, as I have learned what I need to at least survive, the old fashioned way, I lived it.

Kirby - "Hello, Newman."

Tono's youngest boy looks a lot like little Dave from MMTF. I did a double take.

Doris, i think it is the middle child, a little boy, that was in Lichita as Arath's child. I don't know if you were on the patio for that one but Arath's character had a son he was trying to get custody of. He was staying in an orphanage.

To everyone who mentioned that the characters in this TN talk so fast, thank you! I have a very hard time with it. And thanks again to Mr AAA, you can see that some of us, like me, don't just enjoy these recaps, we really need them.

Anifer is certainly cute, but I wish she would tone it down a tiny bit. It's just not that difficult for a little girl to be adorable, she doesn't have to be so over the top.

Nerón, buddy, remember it's not the deed that will bring you down, it's the coverup.

Hey all! Thank you so much for stopping by! Like Andy, I was wondering when the typical novela antics were going to show up. Another delight, 4 episodes in without a main villain and without a typical love story/courtship. THis seems to be more about Mauricio growing up and loving Anifer than loving anyone else. I am okay with that. Add that to the fact that Renee is amazingly competent, confident, smart and sweet, and I like where this is heading.

Anifer is slightly annoying, to be, in this moment, but my heart broke for her when she overhear Mauricio say those cruel things. They were so harsh, even if he didn't know she was listening. I am growing on her because she's demonstrated to be a young Renee and I'm sure she will flourish under her tutelage. Like Kirby mentioned, Anifer also goes toe-to-toe with Mauricio so that's great since he needs a swift kick sometimes.

I think Tono, like Jorge, and Neron, bury their heads in the sand and hope the present doens't come back to bite them. It always does though. Tono is now seeing, in person, how much money it costs him to take this trip (which Veronica told him it would) but until he sees it himself, he thinks she's exaggerating. Mauricio is exactly the same way and they need to grow up because kids depend on him.

As for Neron's kid, they don't seem bad but they do seem like they would laugh Neron off the block for dating a younger woman and being a "grandpa" dad. Then again, Carmelita did die only three years ago after being married to Neron her whole life so I wonder if he feels guilty. He didn't want a kid when this thing started so how did he finally budge? Flor seemed to pressure him into it or she was leaving and Neron jumped the gun before he was sure.

I am loving Caer. Not a cheery story or romantic or beautiful but any stretch of the imagination but it is amazingly written, acted and produced. It is funny to see comedic actors in dramatic roles. Urban joked in the Caer patio that Ela Valden (Mia) would cringe if she met her other, sweeter, less crazy characters.

Andy, our comments crossed, buddy. You are very welcome. It's funny how I never consciously notice how fast people talk. I love heavy dialogue based scenes and word play so I love the interactions between actors and the fast talking. Gilmore Girls is one of my favorites shows precisely for this reason.

Doris, I love that Snow White theory so much that I hope it's true. The deeply interconnected, sometimes ridiculous plotting, is one of my favorite aspects of TNs. I hope he is connected as that would make the mystery of Maria Cruz a lot more interesting.

I was just thinking...this TN is supposed to be about 4 dads...and a gay couple. Given that, are we supposed to assume that the fathers are going to be the ones who are supposed to be "good." If that is the case, then the writers must be trying to make out Jorge to be a good guy/victim?? Of the four fathers, he seems to be the slimiest. Mauricio is just another child; Neron is going through a dramatic change of life, but doesn't want his sons to know; and Tono, well I'm still trying to figure him out...right now he's just a dad with financial problems.

I hope it's more that these four men have a lot of growing up to do and their children and change of circumstance will force them to change. Mauricio will have to learn responsibility, Jorge will have to learn flexibility, Tono will have to learn control, and Neron will have to learn honesty.

So who is our gay couple? Shouldn't we have been introduced to them by now? Are they in the opening credits? If so, I haven't noticed them.

From research, I know who they are, but I haven't seen the opening credits so I can't confirm if they are there. One of them was seen briefly in the police station when Mauricio tried to leave Anifer there after the aborted wedding. We are probably still in the prologue of the story.

Alfredo I ran across an article about the controversy over the gay couple. Carvivlie, the characters are supposed to be Rafael Restrepo (Andrés Zuno: Tom in Doble Vida) and Rodrigo Conde (Raúl Coronado: Miguel in Vino el Amor).

Interesting recap. Maury is a childish
Selfish jerk.He never Grew up. And no
Telling how many other kids he has out
There. God help em!
He just needs to grow up and get some
Therapy for what happened to his mom.
He's been tryin to forget, but he can't forget that fire that started because
He was where he should not have been.
When he was a rambunctious child. Got
Some major problems he has.

Did anifer draw that picture of Maria Cruz? This isgonna take some untangling

That neron guy just wanted to have fun .He's not to old to have known

I like little anifer. But that jerk is
Gonna brake that childs heart. It is time for Him to grow the Hell up.

Ok done.Time for lunch.Thanks Alfredo.

Thanks, RGV! I found the article as well; it's the first time a Mexican novela has a gay couple trying to form a family. That's surprising but not surprising, given telenovelas general history. It's funny how many movies have been made about gay men and women in Mexico but only now is there a gay couple kissing and forming a family like any other.

I think Brazil was the first one to have a gay kiss a couple of years back so things seem to be changing.

Alberto, I loved Gilmore Girls, too.

I think that Neron was mistaken for the abuelo in the hospital because of his white hair. He is a goodlooking guy. Maybe he just needs to dye his hair. Hubba's mother and her father and sister all turned white at an early age. My friend pointed his mother out to me at a baseball game , and I thought she meant that she was his grandmother because she had pure white hair. She was probably in her early forties. I met HUbba when he was a teenager , and he had black hair with a tiny white streak in the front . He got whiter every year, and he was occasionally mistaken for our kids'grandfather because the people in my family do not turn gray early. My dad still had dark hair at 80 and my mother and sister are redheads who do not turn gray. #luckofthedraw

Alberto...you had good advice for those four fathers . You should be a life coach !

Another Gilmore Girls fan here!

Another excellent recap, Alfredo! I hope Mauricio lightens up with Anifer soon. His most recent comments have bordered on child abuse. My husband caught a Shirley Temple vibe from Anifer--and it is a kind of sentimental situation like Captain January (but with the circumstances of reuniting with family a bit different). I'm glad Tono and Veronica went to Orlando, even if it was expensive and even if Logotoys is on the verge of collapse. Children only get 1 childhood, and that kind of trip is one they'll remember for the rest of their lives. Hmmm. One wonders at Anifer's showing up just in time to prevent the sale of the company under the terms of don Bosco's will. Very curious.

"One wonders at Anifer's showing up just in time to prevent the sale of the company under the terms of don Bosco's will. "
SpanProf - There are no coincidences in telenovelalandia. It must be in the rules, somewhere. 😊

Thanks, Alfredo.

Loved Mauricio and Fabian's meeting with Jorge where Fabian kept saying “JOR-GE” throughout in hopes Mauricio would finally stop calling his lawyer by the wrong name.

So Calao from Doble Vida is here. Isn't that Danilo’s best bud from Doble Vida too playing Neron’s youngest son?

Tiny Milady looked so precious wearing her tiny tight pants. Those pants looked so impractical for diaper changing, but I guess they had snaps somewhere.

OT: Did you guys see in the media that Gab Soto has separated from Geraldine Bazan because he is going out with Irina Baeva? OMG! They were a couple in Vino. Susie and I were just talking about that the other day, with Sousa and Jillian Gil.

Kirby....oh my. I hope that they have more chemistry in real life than they did in Vino. Hey, maybe that's why there was no chemistry between the characters!! They did not want people to get suspicious. These couples seem to play musical chairs,or maybe it is sguare dancing because they seem to always be changing partners looking for something new.

OT- OMG, Kirby, Gabe Soto and Irina??? We always commented on their lack of chemistry!

Niecie, yes, "Calao" is playing one of Neron's sons.

Niecie in MD - I'll bet Milli's pants had no snaps. Very few do, these days. Leggings are all the rage. This younger generation (e.g., our son and X-DIL) always had their now four yrs old daughter in leggings over her diapers from newborn. This grandma bit her tongue when I babysat and had to change her diapers. 🙄 First the shoes, then the leggings, then the diaper, then out the leggings back on, then the socks if they came off with the leggings, and then the shoes. Argh!! #sufferingforfashion

Yup, it was just on that 'Fat and Ugly' show. It's on 'Latingossip.com' too. Yikes. I might still have a chance with Suzanne Gonzales in light of that !
:-)

Doris...lol !!!

I just found the notes I made last night of the English RUlli used. He also said "see you," "no thanks", and I think he got beeped when he said "s*** happens!" Did anyone else catch tbat?

Susanlynn - I did not catch the beeped part but remember there was something he said that seemed odd. Must have been that..where is George Carlin is still right. LOL

Susy, I heard what you are talking about and It looked/sounded to me like sh*t happens with a bleep which barely caught it.

I'd be surprised if they bleeped it in the Mexican broadcast. I

In the CCs about a year or two ago someone was using the Spanish equiv of the f__ word, so when the CCs came rolling across THERE it was. At the time I didn't watch with a camera at the ready and could not capture it.

OK this is a fun game...............
I'm keeping notes tonight too.

It only seems to be Mauricio and Fabian. I have listened closely for anyone else and have not caught even one.

There was a big petition which went around in Mex about the gay couple. But not about the couple, so much, as having them kiss on camera.

Kirby..I have only heard Mau and Fab drop English words except Sebastian was calling Mau "bro." In the bar. They were also giving each other those bro hugs that the young AMerican guys started to do....which always confuses hub when he tries to shake hands with a young dude. Wait? What? Are you hugging me? So, get out your pen and paper. Are we going to drink every time we hear English?

"Are we going to drink every time we hear English?"
Might be too hard on our livers. LOL

Years ago when Univision broadcast the Peruvian telenovela Cazando Un Millionario, the female protagonist's father frequently said "Joder!" 😉 Never bleeped out. Expanded my vocabulary, though.

Yes. We will compare notes in the comments after the show.

Tuned in for the first time and very much enjoyed it. The novela feels much more "Colombian" than "Televisa" and it was a kick to see Tacher (who I'm currently watching on RCN in La Hija del Mariachi - for the umpteenth time).

I'm hoping to catch up on the first episodes if Univision & Comcast ever get around to putting the episodes into On Demand.

I sure hope Univision doesn't spoil this novela by adding in its usual dollop (and more) of violence.
