Has Diabla lost her mind ?? the personality change is too extreme,
but I really enjoyed that beat down, babara [?]received,
and the priest inherited guardianship over the child . the Richie rich ...grandson of Hortense and the mother wanted to jump Father..I fell out!!

So what are we to make of the fact that at the end of tonight's episode, they said etapa culminante? I assume that means "climactic stage," which suggests that we're nearing the end. I thought the novela was supposed to end in March. Hmm...perhaps it's like ultimas semanas, which can sometimes start appearing five or six weeks before the end. But etapa culminante sounds as if we're a lot closer than that.

Juanita- I think of "etapa culminante" as the final third part of the show where everything comes together, at least that's what it used to mean, the first part is introduction of characters and plots, the second part being developement of the story.
hmm, Cris gets his wine back, but now he notices it's changed, Aurora thinks it's from moving it around, he wants a lab analysis.
Paco gets wind that something is up when Cris is there, Nat spills to him, ho thinks she has put the winery in jeopardy.
Sere wants a baby, Juanjo wants out, he spills, he can't stop loving Aurora, Sere has lost everything by being with him, where will I go, I'll leave says Juanjo and goes to Aurora.
(did we miss the part where aliens stole Aurora's brain?) She tells Juanjo I don't love you (reminds me of Juanjo's speech to her when he was in prison) you only want to hurt me, then she tells her mom she is helplessly in love with Juanjo, then she tells Roberto, let's start over again.
Juanjo has come back home but Sere has left, she shows up at Doris'.
the Wilmer story was confusing to me, Roberto and his bud get $50K for the jewels, Roberto doesn't want to go in but is he standing in front of a camera, he tells his bud to take his cut out, $10K, but did he? then puts the money on Emilio's grave, picked up by Wilmer, who when clear checks it, is that a cell phone that drops out, and Rob's bud has a gun to his head, Wilmer stabs him and runs, Rob is watching and grabs the gun and chases but Wilmer gets away, Rob doesn't want to take his bud to the hospital, it's only 5 blocks away, you can walk, then pays him off, but the guy wants the full amount they agreed on.
So Wilmer now wants $150K, today, Rob puts his $300K place up for sale, he'll take $150K cash, the realtor posts it on his site but it's been an hour and still not sold, ah but the insurance money has come in for the new wine tanks, Rob puts a tracking device in the briefcase, Wilmer picks up the money, Rob tracks him to a dumpster and an empty briefcase, later sees him and smashes him on the head, loads him in the trunk and takes him out to a quiet place, (Wilmer has the same backpack but apparently no money or tablet) Wilmer escapes, but Rob has a gun, shoots him in the leg, and puts him back in the trunk to let him think about it.
Nat enjoying a nice candle lit dinner, succulent steak, glass of wine, my mouth was watering, didn't see the ending coming, as Natalia sweeps it all off the table to the floor.

Terrific recap, deb!! Thanks VERY much! First of all, thanks for the explanation of "etapa culminante." I don't recall seeing it before. I'm relieved to know that they're not going to cut the novela short, as they've sometimes done in the past when the ratings weren't what they hoped for.
Paco was really angry after Natalia explained the wine switch. He's angry not just at her jeopardizing the business but also harming their son.
I loved your "(did we miss the part where aliens stole Aurora's brain?)"! How many times are we going to ask that question? Sigh.
So, if I understood correctly, the apartment that Rob put up for sale had been Emilio's (Rob produced Emilio's death certificate). Did Aurora inherit it? If so, wouldn't she have had to sign off on the sale?
I really don't understand how Rob is going to finesse the missing insurance money. Even if he manages to sell the apartment for $150K, wasn't the insurance money 180K?
I also don't understand how Rob tracked Wilmer down so quickly. Sure, when he was carrying the briefcase or was near the briefcase, that was easy, but after Rob found the briefcase with the money no longer in it, how did he find Wilmer? He just drove around and around until he spotted him? My beanie is refusing to go on.
BTW, I too was astonished that the seemingly very clever Wilmer never thought to change clothes or his appearance after Rob spotted him and would thus recognize him if he saw him again. No wonder my beanie is having fits.

BTW, I'm glad you're enjoying Santa Diabla. I watched it when it first appeared, but at this point I remember just about nothing, except that I didn't like Aarón Diaz in the role of Santiago. Indeed, ever since then, I've avoided novelas featuring him. Strange, since at one time I found him very attractive. Oh well...

Here are some things I remember from last night's episode. It begins with Aurora having tasted the wine that the Monteils have returned to Crisanto. She says it's similar but not the same as the wine she tasted a few days before. She also ran tests that indicate its properties are similar but not identical. However, she says, the properties are sufficiently similar that Crisanto probably wouldn't win a court case.
Roberto [hiss here] has the injured Wilmer tied up in the kitchen. He demands that Wilmer tell him where the money and the tablet with the video are hidden. Wilmer resists. Wilmer then gets a call on his cellphone. Roberto answers it--it's from Dolores. Roberto learns that Dolores Perez with the two kids is his sister. Disguising his voice, Roberto answers the call, tells Dolores that her brother is drunk but that he can take him home if she'll give him her address. She texts the address to him. Wilmer realizes that Roberto could harm Dolores, and he finally tells Roberto that the money and tablet are hidden in a grave near Emilio's. Roberto puts Wilmer in the trunk of his car and drives someplace (it doesn't look like the cemetary, but rather an alleyway). He stops the car and sees blood dripping from the trunk. He opens the trunk. Wilmer tells him he's dying, and now Roberto will be responsible for two deaths. R.I.P. Wilmer.
Meanwhile, Cris is upset that the company's bank account is empty--it should have plenty of money, since the insurance payment came in. He calls Roberto, tells him there's a problem with the bank account, and orders him to come to the company office at once. Instead of doing that, Roberto grabs a very large plastic sack or roll, lots of paper towels, and duct tape, wraps Wilmer's corpse, brings it to the water, and pushes it into the water. He then goes to the office.
At the office, Cris is angry with him [ya think?]. Roberto shows that all the items Cris needs have been purchased, but Cris asks why he bought them with his personal credit card. What's up with the company account, he asks. The ever-resourceful Roberto claims he used his personal credit card because he accidentally left the check (or was it the checkbook) on his desk.
While all this is happening, Natalia is proceeding with her plan to provide the skillfully-mixed wine to distributors. Juanjo arrives at the bodega and tries to stop a guy from loading the wine in his truck. Natalia says she's the boss, and she orders the guy to load the wine.
There then ensues much discussion with Paco, Juanjo, and Juaquín trying to stop Natalia from going ahead with this plan. Juanjo suggests they act as a company, not a family, and he calls a meeting of the stockholders. Juaquín says he can't vote against either his daughter or his grandson, and he leaves. That leaves Juanjo, Paco, Luis, and Natalia. Oops, but wait...that morning, Natalia apparently sold Anita 5% of her stock holdings, so Anita is now a stockholder, entitled to a vote. Paco hopes Luis will do the right thing, but the turd votes in favor of his mother, in spite of (or because of?) the fact that she had "reminded" him that the idea of the blend was his. Nice going, Natalia [hiss here].
Roberto hasn't finished with his evil work. At the water cooler, he suddenly has a vision of blood and then a body bobbing up out of the water. Off he goes, back to the water. He dives in, finds the body, drags it to his car, and then finds a quiet place to dig a grave and bury it. After that, he returns to the bodega and re-adjusts the gas levels that Aurora had set. Gas creeps out. Crisanto comes into the room where all this is happening and sees Dimas lying unconscious right near the gas. With some difficulty, Crisanto moves the unconscious Dimas away, pleading with him not to die. End of Episode

I'm not sure what to make of Luis' saying he had to go take his insulin. Presumably, he's diabetic. What if any role will this play in the novela? Also, at one point as Roberto is at the water cooler, he takes a pill. IIRC, the camera gave a surprising amount of attention to this, but again, I have no idea why.

RIP Wilmer...antagonists always wins until the end and all opposition are stupefied. Thought it was interesting that Roberto looked around for cameras and witnesses Every Time, the same way he did in Wilmer's video, but used no such safeguards for his home cameras. I hope those surveillance cameras are used against him.
Nat using Anita was a low blow since we've seen the looks she gives her. She has no idea...Anita's role may not be evident right now but we know she's there for a treacherous reason. And why does she badmouth Juanjo so much. His family doesn't even do that. Well maybe Nat. Of course Luis couldn't vote against both his controlling mother and wife. He has no ballz.

Last nights episode was more of a beanie-adjusting one for me.
1. Why do million dollar wineries not have surveillance cameras? And why didn't Nat realize that Roberto, the former employee who starts fights every time he visits, still has a key.
2. The writers allowed the fas station attendant a well justified knock out punch against Roberto, in front of Sara, without any discussion of it afterwards. This should have at least prompted a few questions from her before she gives him all ger money, but no. Instead in exchange girlfriend wants a lil nookie.
3. For Serena, forgiving backstabbing friends is a slippery slope. Their world's too small to avoid them both. It's tolerated when their discussing business but how dare they release the obvious tension and laugh at a joke? Why is she still stripping? Doesnt her skills, sans Sommelier credentials, count for something? Secretary maybe? She's just not growing for someone who wants to be taken seriously. The same goes for Luis who can't step out of his mommy's clutches.
4. If Rob wasnt her husband it would be so clear that he just played...telling her not to tell Cris that Nat deceived him only fir him to do it behind her back. Has she forgived and forgotten his twisted evilness so quickly? And Cris rewarded him for sabotaging Montiel property with a raise? Is that the type of President you want?
5. A dose of Leo once a week is not a storyline. It feels like something the writers have to throw in there for whatever reason... I sense his tech-savvyness will surprisingly serve Cris somehow not that he has to replace Aurora. He's on his sister's side in more ways than one.
6. No mention of Dolores so does this mean Rob believes the money was in the cemetery and she's not in danger? But what about the tablet?
7. So much has happened in one week. Will the police solve any of Roberto's crimes anytime soon?

I'm still thinking they are cutting, that this was intended to be the usual 90 to 120 chapter show, but now it looks like it will be in the 50 to 60 range, the side stories are pretty much gone, we only see Candi when he is in someone else's scene, Leo is around because I think he will be important to the finish, but they barely mentioned that they got an A for the play, and Doris is a strange one that ties everyone together but they have never developed her character, we don't see Sere going back to her pole dance job, and what happened to Aurora's car that she needed a new one, etc, etc.
Wilmer said the tablet and money were buried in a grave by Emilio, but I don't think Rob believed him.
(hmm, when stockholders vote it's not one person one vote, they vote their shares so splitting them with Anita shouldn't have altered the vote).
Just when Aurora was about to get in to the companies accounts, confusion over the sulfur spill, and now she no longer works there.
JJ and Nat apologized to each other last night, but Juanjo still resigned and walked away.
Rob, with his new raise blew off Auroras let's start a company together and go with the six-pack wine gimmick.
ok so all of the new wine blend is gone except the 400 ?? bottles that were already delivered, and because of the write up by Horacio, and was it a 98% rating, the distributer is selling the bottles at a premium price which should bring Nat $80K, as discussed by Rob and Cris, Rob suggests they make an identical blend.
Sara cracked me up when she told Rob, "I don't like the beach, hate the sand, the heat and humidity" ha! as Rob had pitched the place as somewhere they could meet, but I got that he has the money, but the deal hasn't closed, she has the paperwork but there is one more item that has not been signed.

I was thinking they were using the sulfur to sanitize the new tanks but they just arrived, and looking around at wine making I see that everything involved has to be sterile in order to develop the wine you want and keep it from changing or being contaminated, as is complicated further when the wine is moved, but last night Aurora said she was adding the sulfur to the wine,
"Sulphur dioxide (SO2) is the most widely used and controversial additive in winemaking. Its main functions are to inhibit or kill unwanted yeasts and bacteria, and to protect wine from oxidation."
