Caer en Tentacion #74, 2/1/18: The proof is in the fingerprints!

Oh my gaaaaaawd. What a fun episode! Federico finds his backbone and almost kills his grandma, we have the finger print results, we know why Laura is gimpy, and Godoy gets shot! Sooo much stuff!

I'm going to take this in chunks, because I think just about everything that happened in this episode is important in moving the story forward. This will not be in order but I hope to cover everything.

Part 1:

I'll start in the past with the Alvarado's. Santiago is upset to learn that Carolina is giving Vicente money, he demands to know why she is always helping him and she tells him that she owes him, then she does one of the worst things she's done to date: she tells Santiago she has been giving Vicente money because he saved her from being raped as a child. I don't know about you guys, but I felt like hitting her, to use such a horrible thing from her past to help hide her affair is just sick.

Florencia, Benjamin's nanny tells her cousin Agustin about the fight she witnessed between Vicente and Carolina and of his accusations against Carolina. Agustin tells her to keep her mouth shut and perhaps find another job, but she refuses, Benjamin needs her (also, she wants to get into Santiago's pants).

In the present we witness a sweet interaction with Lola and Santiago, she feels that she has let him down but he apologizes to her for his behavior and tells her that he will support her every step of the way, he also tells her that while he wanted her to be a boy when he found out she was a girl he fell in love with her. They also talk about Raquel, Lola wants to know if he is with her to get revenge on Carolina and Santiago tells her that's not the case. He recalls when he first met Raquel, she was strange and pushy and he couldn't wait to get away from her, but as he got to know her he grew very fond of her and what happened with Carolina and Damian is what finally pushed them together. He loves Raquel and wants to have a relationship with her. Lola tells him she just wants him to be happy.

They also talk about Benjamin, Miriam is going to allow them to see him whenever they want, Santiago still wants Alina's help to get Benjamin back.

Later, we see Nicolas, Lola, Santiago and Florencia sitting around the kitchen table. Santiago asks Florencia if she ever saw anything strange and Flor spills the beans: She knew that Vicente was blackmailing Carolina . Vicente always knew about the affair.

Laura shoots herself in the leg and it was fun to watch:

En el pasado Laura and Godoy are fighting, he confesses to sleeping with Cecilia and that's when Laura reaches over and takes his gun, she threatens to kill Godoy and when he tries to get the gun away from her it discharges and Laura ends up with a gunshot wound to the leg. And that's how she became gimpy and bitter.

Godoy has really bad luck with guns:

Okay, so one of Damian's credit cards went missing at the scene of the accident. The police identified the man using the card as Blas Garido, and he happens to live in the same town as Vicente. Now, Vicente in a drunken stage may have shared compromising information with Garido, information that could put Andres and his illegal operations at risk, so Andres has hired two hitmen to take him out, but there's a little wrinkle in that plan and his name is Fernando Godoy.

Fernando shows up just as the hit is about to take place and shootout takes place, he gets shot!

The Results are In:

Raquel and Mia show up at the Alvarado's, while Mia goes to visit Nicolas Raquel and Santi snuggle on the couch, they wonder how much longer this situation will last and Raquel tells him that Miriam wanted to disconnect Damian in order to avoid paying the medical bills. Raquel tells Satiago that she has a feeling that Damian will be the one to decide when he wants to go. Santiago shares with Raquel that he wants to be with her and that he has hopes that their children will come around. Then the door bell rings, it's Antonio and he has news.

Antonio tells Raquel and Santiago that the results on the fingerprint test are in, the fingerprints on the gun that killed Carolina belong to Damian, and Mia freaks out because everyone is being super mean to her papa, Antonio tells them that the fingerprints don't prove anything, it is starting to look like Carolina and Damian were victims of an a robbery gone wrong and they are looking into a man named Blas Garido, do they know who he is? Nope, they have never heard of him. Antonio then gets the call that Godoy has been shot and he rushes to the hospital.

Mia wants to leave  to see Damian, she wants to talk to him even if he can't hear her. She keeps saying her dad did not kill Carolina and it makes me wonder why she sounds so sure of this.

Laura shows up at the hospital, she wants to know how Godoy is doing and Antonio is done with her, he tells her to leave, she's become a nightmare and she's tarnished the reputation of the whole police force, she tells him she's still Godoy's wife.

Sometime later we learn that Godoy is okay, the bullet missed his organs (well duh, he was shot in the arm!), something is not adding up to Antonio, why would two hit men be sent to kill a small time criminal like Garido and somehow now there's an implication that a drug cartel is involved. Now, this is all very confusing so I'll do my best to recap it:

Rueda earlier in the episode was talking to Andres, it seems they made a stupid mistake, one that could cause them a lot of trouble, here's how it goes:

Andres has been laundering money, he has "investors", he claims not to know their names, they are all just numbers to him and his friend Miguel was the one that brought them to him. They made a huge mistake when they accused Santiago of not repaying a loan given to him by Damian.

That accusation led the police to start looking into the money movements at Legato and now due to the criminal investigation there is an open file that both Alina and the police have access to. Andres is not worried because the shady dealings have been moved over to the catering company and Rueda suggests that they can stop the investigation by paying off the police, but there's a wrinkle in their plan and his name is Federico Becker.

Federico goes to visit his grandmother, he tells her that as a Becker he has every right to continue working at Legato, that he has information on Andres and his misuse of company money and that he will not let her take away what belongs to him and his family. He also accuses her of wanting to remove Damian's breathing machines in order to save money on his medical bills, but that's not going to happen! Yay Federico, yay!

Federico then has a showdown with Andres, he tells him that he knows he has stolen a great deal of money from Legato, he has worked there long enough to know how things work and Azucena gave him earning reports and documents that show there's been mismanagement. He also knows that Andres and Miriam are both responsible for the missing funds, Federico asks Andres what he plans to do? Kill him?

Andres calls Miriam and she tells him she will continue to pay Damian's medical bills, that should keep Federico happy but they should not underestimate him, he is smarter than he seems. Andres tells her he is done taking h\orders from her and now she's going to be the one doing what he wants. She needs to stop her aggressive actions against Raquel now, or else!

At the hospital Mia begs Damian to wake up and fight for his family. Everything that's going on around them is ugly and people are blaming him for all sorts of things and he needs to wake up and clear everything up, she forgives him for his affair with Carolina and for having a child with her.

Patricia's mom visits Lola, she wants justice for Patricia and needs to know who her sugar daddy was, she is sure that her daughter did not kill herself.

Back in the hospital Damian opens his eyes, is he back?!!

Great start, Juju. It's like having a delicious cookie and then having to wait until the next batch comes out of the oven to have another one. I envy you. You got the Raquel/Santi reunion scene. I love writing love scenes. So glad they are still together.

Can't wait for the rest Juju! Really enjoyed this episode. What I don't understand is why Flor, once she heard Caro was murdered, didn't go to the police to tell them what she witnessed? She didn't even go when Santi was put in jail. She had evidence that could help her crush and did nothing.

"Benjamin needs her (also, she wants to get into Santiago's pants". Excellent Princess Juju.

Flor is a puzzle piece that just doesn't fit. Where was she after the murder. She just suddenly surfaced. And yes Carvivlie, she never told anyone especially the police what went on??

Her lust for Santi was far greater than any sense of justice apparently.

Diana

Carvivlie and Diana--Flo also probably knew where that gun was kept. If she didn't want to incriminate herself, she probably wasn't going to step forward and make herself known. She's taking a bigger chance by coming by to see Santi NOW, after he got out of jail. But if she still has the hots for him, she probably figures this IS a good time to drop by--no more Carolina.

However, she doesn't know about him and Raquel. It might be a game changer and suddenly Raquel's life is in danger. It's a scenario I don't want to contemplate because she and Agustin seem like they were brought up well and are decent, hard-working people.

Still nothing makes sense yet on how Santi's father's gun was in the drawer AFTER the murder (when Raq saw it), but wasn't there when his house was raided by the police.

Could that missing serial digit still be in play and there is another gun somewhere?

Princess Juju great start to this awesome episode.

I am so ready to hear from Damian, how can his finger prints be on the gun? When did he have the opportunity to touch it? I am thinking that Carolina had it with her, she must have been afraid of someone. So much to still be uncovered.

Mia's reaction to finding out Damian's finger prints were on the gun was annoying, childish, and ridiculous. She still loves Damian, after all he did.

Diana: "Flor is the puzzle piece that doesn't fit" YES AGREED!!

Mia is so crazy. She was all happy and nice to Santi when she and Raq came over--psychopath.

First while watching Santi talk with Lola about Raq, there was this real sense that he was in a good place and hopeful. He seemed so less stressed, like he could see the future. My heart dropped and I thought--he isn't going to make it to the end.

Second, he and Raq were so happy at the end of the episode, I now thought, one of them is definitely not going to make it to the end--could be Raquel instead.

Great start, Juju! Can’t wait to read the rest! I loved this episode too!

My favorite part of this episode was the Santiago/Lola scene. Santiago is a good dad. He might have a temper and sometimes be orgulloso but it’s clear that he loves his children.

I think the majority of the blame for Laura’s accident is on Laura herself. Maybe I shouldn’t victim blame a fictional character haha but we're talking about the woman who had a miscarriage because she couldn’t not deliver the latest gossip.

I could easily come up with crazy theories that Damian meant to kill Carolina but I don’t think that was the case. Right now all signs seem to be pointing to that it was an accident. It may have just been a robbery/mugging gone wrong. Once that Garrido guy is found and Damian is able to speak and remember things then all the pieces will come together.

I agree that Mia had a very childish reaction to the fingerprint results. Her father isn’t/wasn’t the saint she made him out to be. She needs to take him off the pedestal she had him on. The fact that she gets mad at Raquel for being with Santiago isn’t fair at all.

More later....

Thanks, Juju. Can't wait for the rest.

I completely agree that Mia's reaction was childish. I don't have the impression that Damian would have wanted to kill Carolina, more that it could have been a murder/suicide with either of them guilty of being the initiator. However, my theory is that Carolina took the gun for protection from someone (possibly Andres, one of his henchmen, or an unknown third party), but the actual killer knocked out Damian, got the gun away from Carolina, shot her, and put the gun in Damian's hand while he was unconscious, and then left it near the makeshift grave. The killer would have either worn gloves or wiped the gun clean during this process.

Either way, Mia's reaction is completely premature as well as immature.

Thank you, JuJu!

Federico was on a roll. I loved it!

“We know why Laura is gimpy” perfectly put, JuJu: it made me smile.

That interchange between Lola and Santiago really stood out because there is so much ugliness that is the backbone of this novela.

I guess tonight we will have a better idea if Damián is back or not.

Jarifa, same here! He's normally so quiet and reserved but not now, he knows what's up and has now let people know that he is not stupid and that he has their number!

Thanks for the whole picture, Juju. Terrific read, full of humor to lighten up the story.

Question: Never mind the gun (I like Urban's theory). But, was the shovel already in the car? Why? If it was brought by a "premeditating" murderer, why wouldn't he/she have taken it away. Someone took the credit card, after all.

Flo and Mia are still on my list of characters with really suspicious behavior.

Sandie--We have our answer now. Vic pointed out the bushy haired guy heading for his motorcycle as the loan shark and Nando and his two associates were going after the guy on the motorcycle. Garrido=Loan Shark. Caso cerrado.

Anita: Looks like we're going to see more people, who had motive & opportunity to want Carolina dead.

Killing Damian and Caro doesn't help either Vic or Garrido bec both were making money off of the affair.

True, Carvivlie. Where else can we look for a murderer--if murder is what Caro's death was!

First let me say this,YES! He's back! I think so anyways.Lol Thank you Juju,
Loves the recap girl.
"Flo wants to get into santiago's pants".HAH,what's in santiago's pants belongs to Raquel. And she's enjoying it Lot more than Carolina did.And more
Than she enjoyed what was in damian's
Pants.
Love that someone stood up to slimy Andres and mean mimi.
I don't want Raquel and Damian back together. That ship has sailed and sunk
And Damian sunk it when he knocked up
Another man's wife, when he wouldn't have another child with his wife. Yes
She had problems but it the principal
Of the thing. He cheated. Not nice dam.

About the prints on the gun being dams
I thought,"What it the killer shot Carolina and put the gun in dam's hand
after they knocked him out?"Or, this just came to me,vwhat if he tried to keep them from taking her and they got the gun from him and konked him on the
Head, just a to little hard. Hence, the coma.

Nice to see dad and daughter having a
Heart to heart.

Ok that's it for me, for now. Really enjoyed this recap princess.Thank you.

"Just a little too hard, hence the Coma".

I have a question that absolutely
Has nothing to do with this show.
Have any of you ever made chilly with sweet potato instead of beans?
I heard about this recipe on "the
Chew". One of the chefs made it.You
Use the regular ingredients you put
In a chilly except the beans, you
Replace them with cubed sweet tatos potatos.
I might, almost sure, I'll do that
This weekend. Yummo! Thank you miss
Ray.
Does Miriam know about the money
Laundering.Cuz it sure sounded like
Andres threatened ye Ol goatette to leave raquel alone.

I havent had a chance to read the recap or comments yet ( so sorry if its already been mentioned) but just heard that dreaded “en sus ultímos capítulos” so can anyone tell me the approximate date it will end. This has been my favorite TN of all time so i have to really prepare myself! It’s what i most look forward to every day and i hate the thought of it ending😂😂

Amo,I'm guessing the end of this month. In Mexico it ends on the 11th.

Episode 97 will air on Monday in Mexico. If the finale is 2 hours then this will end with 105 total episode hours. We are 22 episodes behind, so CET will end here in early-mid March, depending on whether it gets pre-empted or not.

Put me in for GG's next novela. I'm 3 for 3 so far.

Addendum to the shovel note: It must have been in "a" car, maybe the Legato car that burned because I finally recalled that they originally arrested Nacho on the basis that one set of the fingerprints on the shovel were his.

Is there a recap coming for last nites
Episode? Cuz it will probably be even
Better. Each one gets better since its
About to come to an end in afew weeks.

Nina--
Patience. Sandie usually gets the recap up over the weekend.

Thanks urban anthropologist! Thank goodness, mid March. I have a little time to readjust. Its the first time i am not following 2 or 3 TNs at same time so if one ends it is not so tragic. For some reason, i have still not watched any of my DVR recorded episodes of Papa a todo..... if anyone thinks its really terrific, please let me know and then maybe i would start watching those,

I too was thrilled to see Fede step up to the plate. About time! I wonder if he is gay in real life? I dont think so. Whatever he is, he is damn cute!

Why is Nico so attracted to Mia after she has been such a “shit” for so long and not that pretty either. That has always confused me.

Amotn--We've all been asking ourselves the same thing. There must be a reason--other than Mia having to see Nico in that wooly cap in the Pasado episodes--just so we know which time frame we're in. Mia has not changed her hairstyle or her dress code since the beginning.

Addendum: Urban anthro- your theory about fingerprints makes a lot of sense. Of course Caro would have taken the gun with her ( several good reasons). And also good reasons for Damians fingerprints to be on it — i mean a few logical explanations since he is right next to her in the car and/ or someone stuck it in his hand. Deaths Could even have been result of simple robbery ( narco related maybe) planned by motorcycle guy and something went awry. So to me, a MORE interesting question is how and why did those 2 decide to leave together in the car that day — was it for good, was it to escape something or someone???
