Papá a Toda Madre, Episode 39, 3/12/2018: Schemes Go Awry Even for Mauri OR Kika’s Claws Get Clipped

[Previously: At Mau’s house, Renée asks if Mau has figured out who may have provoked the mishap at Logatoys, but as in most things, Mau still has no clue. When she asks how things are going with the payment for her mastery program,] Mau responds with a question, “Why are you asking?”; then he tells her things are going well and reminds her that she has a class she needs to get to. Renée doesn’t know whether to be flattered or bothered that Mau knows her schedule and reminds him that they still have the conversation regarding her scholarship pending. After she leaves, Mau makes a face as he wonders how he is going to deal with the scholarship.
At Juarez School, Sami looks at his wrapped hand as he gets a message from the Blue Shark: he has two options for his next challenge—he can either walk the guardrail of a bridge or hurt someone he hates.

As he turns around, he sees Baldo at the other side of the building and wonders if Baldo is the one he could hurt.
At a restaurant, Toño sees Yolanda as he enters, then starts to leave, but she quickly gets up and calls out to him. After she leads him back, she introduces him to the other ladies. After she asks him what he thinks about the topic they are discussing, Toño replies that he doesn’t know much about the subject. When he is asked about his wife and they wonder if his new role is still temporary, Toño explains that Veronica is working a lot and he supports her. All the women comment about how they are all full-time housewives...and consider that Toño is now “out of his closet.” After Toño proudly admits that he is a househusband, all the ladies cheer and Yolanda gives him a chummy hug.

At the hospital, Nerón wakes up and is shocked to see his dead wife, but then realizes his sons are there with a life-size picture of their mother. (Waking up in intensive care face-to-face with a dead person might not mean waking up, exactly as we know it.)

When Nerón wonders why they brought the picture, Cicerón tells him that he always carries it with him so that his mother can protect him…and he brought it so she could give Nerón her blessing. Nerón then wonders how they knew that he almost kicked the bucket, so Flor confesses that she called them because they had a right to know that their father almost croaked. That the boys chose to come was up to them since she had nothing to do with their decision. Since they are already there with the photo, the sons think they should just get on with the blessing so they can take her away. (As you know, she tires easily now?)
At the foundation, Renée is talking to Sonia when Kika walks in and asks Sonia to give them some alone time. After Sonia leaves and Renée asks what she wants and how she knew she worked there, Kika replies that Mau, HER boyfriend whom she is taking a small break from, commented it to her. Renée refuses to stoop to Kika’s level and fight with her like the last time; she is not going to allow Kika’s offensive comments get to her. When Kika tells her that she comes in peace so they can have a civilized conversation, Renée chuckles and tells her to hurry up and say what she has to say. After Kika tells Renée that she knows about Renée’s aspirations, her desire to continue her studies, and get into a mastery program in the USA, Renée wonders how Kika knows so much about her; so Kika explains that through social media, like Facebook, one can find out many things about a person. Renée wants Kika to get to the point and tell her what she wants from her; so Kika tells her that she is a businesswoman and very practical…all she wants to do is help Renée. Renée smirks and tells Kika she needs nothing from Kika, but Kika knows that deep down, Renée is not a maid; Kika just wants to know how many “zeros” Renée wants on the check and if she wants it in pesos, dollars…or euros! Renée still hasn’t figured out what Kika means, so Kika makes it clear, “How much do you want to get far away from my Mauricio?” Renée is flabbergasted and wonders if Kika is for real…(As we mull over our suspicions about some parts ourselves…)

At Mau’s house, Jorge and Mau discuss who could have possibly sabotaged the production of the toys. Jorge wonders who would benefit, but Mau has no clue (Ding! Ding! Ding!) and isn’t accusing anyone yet, though he is sure that it was not an accident. After Jorge thinks about how they can find out who it was, he mentions Mau’s ex-fiancée, but Mau thinks there are so many other things to consider. Mau considers calling Fabián, but this is something he needs to resolve on his own. Jorge then brings up Falcón whom he has been investigating. When Jorge points out that Falcón pretends to be such a great businessman, yet Jorge can’t find anything about his previous businesses, he adds that even more strange is that he has not been able to find anything on the other council members either. After Mau agrees that the bunch is strange, Jorge shares that he has an instinctive feeling that they are hiding something…like they are not who they say they are. (Jorsufus prepares for his next run at Mensa membership.)
At the foundation, Renée is having a hard time believing Kika made her that offer…and wonders if Kika is that insecure that she would offer her money to get her away from Kika’s boyfriend…who, in reality, is no longer her boyfriend because they broke up…well, actually he broke up with her. Kika insists that they are just taking a romance break. When Renée tells her she is acting ridiculous and needs to stop acting like an adolescent, she adds that she needs to leave, but Kika retorts that she will keep talking for as long as she wants. (As it is Kika's right to stand around and talk to a wall as long as her heart desires.)  Kika remarks that she is being very honest and wonders if Renée really thinks that a man like Mau would actually look at someone like Renée. Kika thinks that Mau is just going through a phase; so Renée responds that if Kika really believed that, she wouldn’t be offering her money to stay away from Mau. Kika smirks and thinks Renée doesn’t know men…they get infatuated, but then return to their rightful owners (whimpering with their tails between their legs??). When Kika flashes her “M” necklace and tells Renée that she doesn’t have one, Renée counters that is how Mau marks his territories…and Renée is no one’s property. As Renée starts to leave, Kika challenges Renée to deny that she is interested in Mau. To her surprise, Renée turns around and says, “No, I’m not going to deny it. I do like him…and I like him a lot; what do you think of that?”

At Mau’s house, Mau thinks Falcón does lead a mysterious life, but he can’t believe he would undermine the production of the toys. Jorge thinks Mau could be right; furthermore he has no proof, but the logical thing is that it was an inside job. When they compare it to an Agatha Christie novel and an assassination, Jorge asks who Mau thinks would be the likely “assassin.” Mau thinks it would be Falcón; and Jorge agrees. Mau has many reasons why he would choose Falcón; one is that he doesn’t like him, but Jorge doesn’t think that is a good reason.  (Those Mensa points are rolling up Jockarondo) Second, Falcón doesn’t like Mau, but Jorge thinks that is weak, too. When Mau points out that Falcón wanted to clean out the company and that Mau still owes him money, they both agree those could be good reasons. (It does take a lot of thinking to figure it was NOT Anifer or Renée.)

At the hospital, Cicerón and Socrates whisper to each other as Flor gives Nerón a good-bye kiss and tells him she will go see about the hospital bill. After Flor leaves, Socrates comments that he has been out of sorts ever since Nerón told him he was not his father. Nerón then confides that Socrates had just been born when he met, Carmelita, his mother; his father left her when he found out she was pregnant. When Nerón asks that Socrates forgive him for blurting it out as he did and tells him that he always considered him his son, Socrates nods and gives him a forgiving smile. Nerón then adds that he should be apologizing to both of them which leaves both sons surprised. (If you're going to the other side, go with a clear conscience, Nerón)
At the parent meeting, Toño criticizes that the children don’t learn very much since they have so many practices for performances and other events. When Yolanda comments that she likes those events, Toño agrees that they are nice, but Toño argues that he doesn’t know how to sew. They discuss about how Toño hasn’t been invited to the parent meetings; so one of the parents blames Yolanda who then tells Toño not to reproach her, but as she rubs her leg against his, Toño quickly stands up and makes a toast.

At the foundation, Renée thinks it’s comical that two women would confront each other over a man; and she does not play those games. (Renée spends ALL her time studying and has never actually seen even one TN?)  If Kika does play them, she should go for it, but she shouldn’t count on Renée to play along. Kika then repeats that Mau will never see Renée as someone he would fall in love with; he only sees her as what she is…the maid that he uses when it is convenient, especially when he needs someone to take care of his little kid. Renée wonders if Kika doesn’t have things turned around…maybe Mau was never able to fall in love with Kika and he just saw her as his financial associate…plus Kika was never able to win over Anifer. (Excuse us, Renée, what did you just say fifteen seconds ago?) Just then Sonia returns; so Kika introduces herself as an associate of Logatoys. When Sonia assumes that Kika is there to look into Renée’s mastery program that is going to be paid for by Logatoys, Kika is dumbfounded and tells them she knows nothing about that. Before Kika leaves, she tells Renée that the time has come for Renée to remain in her rightful place.
At Mau’s house, Mau thanks Jorge for his support as he sees him out. Once alone with Anifer, Anifer wonders if he is worried about the factory, but when Mau starts to tell her she shouldn’t worry about those things, she finishes his sentence and tells him she already knows that those are adult things. Mau assures Anifer that things are fine, but Anifer still wonders why he is so serious; so Mau responds that is the way he is…serious, strong, formal, and super handsome! Anifer then tells Mau that she had been wanting to tell him that she needs to go to the bathroom for a while. Mau wants her to wait for Renée, but Anifer has to go NOW…he has to take her or she will have to go there! Mau quickly picks her up and takes her to the restroom. (Daddyhood 101 pop quiz.)
At the hospital, Nerón apologizes for not spending more time with his sons when they were young; he feels badly and knows he messed up. He explains that back then, no one would mention that fathers should be close to their children…they thought that providing for food, school and other necessities was enough. Cicero agrees but comments that things are different now. When Cicerón adds that Socrates and he needed Nerón, Socrates chimes in and tells Nerón that they needed to go out and play together more…and do “man” stuff. Cicerón then tells Nerón not to feel bad since they understand that he would work all day to bring home the bread; and Socrates adds that now he has another chance to take care of his daughter. When Cicerón remarks that Nerón can now make up for what he didn’t do for them by spending time with Milady, Nerón promises that he will do just that, but the boys make him promise to their mother.
At Mau’s house, Anifer has finished. Mau hesitates going in and asks Anifer several times if she is needs something else and if she is sure he can enter, so Anifer gets frustrated and yells that he should just go in. (Daddyhood Mid-term already?)
At Juarez school, Jorge meets with the director to ask for her help. He wants her to do him the favor of hiring a young man who is about to reach the age of majority. The director understands and states that they call that solidarity. When she asks how things went with his son and if her advice helped him, Jorge stutters as he responds, “No! Yes! Well…more or less. In the end, we came to a sort of truce to not attack each other…verbally…and to respect each other. When the director comments that is not what she was hoping for, she adds that it would have been better to open up a channel of communication between father and son. Jorge admits that there was no channel, but it was a start. When Jorge tells the director that he has to leave, the director asks that he call her “Laura” because calling her “Mrs.” and “director” just doesn’t suit her. Jorge agrees and tells her, “Have a nice day, Miss Director Laura!” as they both smile.

At Mau’s house. Mau is about to take Anifer back to her room, but Anifer wants to take a bath. When Mau hesitates and shakes his head, she pleads with him, but he tells her to wait for Renée. Anifer insists that she wants to take a bath now and reminds him that he left her alone in the bathtub and nothing happened; so Mau frowns and gives in. After he finishes giving her a bath, Anifer gives him a big hug and says, “Thanks, Daddy.”  (Mau squeaks through the first of many Daddyhood finals! There should have been “happy” and “hurray” emojis popping up all over!)

At Logatoys, Kika demands that Gladys give her all the documentation there is on Renée’s mastery program. After Gladys makes a face, Kika chides her and tells her to hurry up and give her what she wants since Logatoys, “her company,” is paying for it. When Gladys complains that everyone keeps asking for that darned information, Kika asks her to explain; so Gladys tells her that Renée has asked her twice for that information. The first time, she told Renée that Logatoys couldn’t pay for her program, but then Mau appeared and said that he was going to pay for it; and Fabián would be in charge of that. Gladys continues to ramble hysterically until Kika tells her to shut up and adds that as a businesswoman of this company, she cannot let money go to waste on such things…and much less for a maid that doesn’t even work there. Gladys assures Kika that she doesn’t know anything and tells her to look for Fabián…who, by the way, is on vacation. As Gladys leaves very dramatically because she needs air, Kika calls Fabián who has just returned from his vacation. When she tells him she needs his help to get some information on the maid, Renée…regarding Logatoys paying for her mastery program. Fabián agrees to tell her whatever she wants on the condition that they see each other. Kika grimaces as she agrees to meet with him.
Outside the cul-de-sac, Pablo thanks Jorge for getting him the job at the school, but Jorge tells him that he should thank Lilí since she made it possible. Pablo thanks Lilí, then tells them he has to go check on Nerón since he might be released from the hospital today. After Pablo leaves, Sami comes out of the house in a panic and tells Jorge he wants to die because there is no internet. Baldo tells Jorge that he has already unhooked and hooked all the wiring, but it still didn’t work; the company told him it had to be the cabling at the house. When Sami tells them that a technician will be coming in three days, Lilí freaks out and Valentina complains that they won’t be able to do their homework.

Baldo thinks he can fix it since something similar happened to them in TJ. Valentina points out where the cables are, but they need a long ladder to get to them. When the kids start to go for the ladder, Jorge tells them to stop since he is the man of the house and he will decide what needs to be done…so, in all his fatherly glory, he tells them to go get the ladder. (Let's see, what rhymes with Jorge, or at least starts with 'J' but in Spanish means 'tits on a bull'?)
Renée is at her college when Kika calls her to tell her to make sure she confirms what Kika told her about Mau; and if Renée doesn’t believe her, Renée should follow up on the status of her mastery program that Logatoys supposedly is to pay for her. When Renée asks what she means by that, Kika tells her that is her problem. After Kika hangs up, Kika calls Fabián and tells him they can now meet where ever he wants.
At Nerón’s repair shop, Pablo greets the family as they arrive. When Nerón wonders what is going on, Pablo tells him that his sons paid the fine so he can now open the repair shop. Nerón is filled with emotion as he thanks his sons and tells them he will pay them back.

At the college, Renée meets with Adriana who explains that she has continued to be in contact with the person in charge of the grant department in Maryland; if anyone can help Renée get the information she wants, it would be this man; though Logatoys should also have the information. Adriana calls Dave Martinez and hands the phone to Renée so she can talk to him. Mr. Martinez tells Renée she is registered, but the completion for her enrollment is still pending. Renée then tells him that Logatoys is supposed to be covering all the costs and asks him to check on that.
At Mau’s house, Mau’s finishes combing Anifer’s hair which is crooked because she supposedly moved. When Anifer shows Mau a picture of how she wants her hair the next time he combs it, Mau tells her that she should be concentrating on her homework, not choosing hairstyles. Anifer wonders what homework since Mau hasn’t brought her anything; so Mau tells her he will go get Neto’s notebook. As he starts to leave, Anifer tells him with a big smile, “Papá, thank you for everything.” Mau comes back and kisses her before he tells her he likes the way she said it. After he walks out, Mau continues to relish in Anifer’s words, “Gracias, Papá!” and thinks he is the best! (Happy, Happy, Happy, BOOM, not so much!)  Just then, Renée storms in demanding to know why he lied about her mastery program and why he said Logatoys would sponsor her. Mau tries to calm her down and tells her he can explain, but Renée rants that all he wanted was for her to stay with Anifer so she could be her “cachifa!”
Outside, the kids have brought out and set up the ladder, but Jorge will not permit any of his children to risk their lives…that is why he is the father. (Yep, Jarod, look what happened to Anifer in that tree; that was a brush with death.)  Baldo tells him not to be stubborn; he is younger, but Jorge insists that he will be the one to go up and try to fix the cables…Baldo should go inside and see if things get fixed. After Baldo goes inside, Jorge tells Sami to hold the ladder. As he climbs up, Sami remembers his last challenge and tries to shake off the thought. Jorge turns back and tells Sami to hold the ladder firmly; so Sami assures him he is, but then starts kicking the ladder. Jorge calls out to Sami since the ladder is shaky and wonders what is going on.
At Mau’s house, Mau swears to Renée that things are not the way they seem, but Renée heatedly tells him not to swear to anything. She was stupid to believe him. Up until recently, she suspected it, but she couldn’t confirm it. She growls and continues that she asked him again and he had the audacity to lie to her!

Mau tries to explain, but Renée interrupts and yells that she believed in his good faith, but she is not stupid enough to believe him again. When she asks him why he did this to her, Mau replies that he had every intention of doing it, but there wasn’t enough money at the company. When he hesitates because he doesn’t know what else to say, Renée chides him for never paying for her enrollment…he never intended to help her…everything he told her was a lie; he didn’t move one finger for her!  (Think, Mau, think! Tell her you used it instead to pay off her funeral bill…still a lie, but smaller; when she catches that one she will see you’re making progress.) Mau responds that he had every intention to have Logatoys pay, but 50,000 things happened. Renée interrupts that he lied to her just so that she would come live there and take care of Anifer…that’s all he wanted! When she asks him to tell her the truth, Mau admits that he was desperate. After Renée huffs in anger, Mau continues that Anifer only trusted her; and he couldn’t find any other way to convince her to help him.

Renée thinks he has no shame and wonders if he knows how important the program is to her…he can’t get it through his (thick) head! Mau does know and swears that he was going to get the scholarship for her…he didn’t know from where or how, but he was going to come up with the money for her program…and he still wants to do it. When he adds that he also did it because he didn’t want her to leave, Renée can’t fathom how selfish he is.
Outside, Sami is about to give the ladder a hard kick when Rodrigo runs up and stops him. When he asks what is going on, Jorge climbs down and also asks what’s going on. Rodrigo demands that Sami explain what he wanted to do, but Jorge demands to know why Rodrigo is grabbing and talking so forcefully to his son. After Sami states that he was only holding the ladder so his father wouldn’t fall, Rodrigo looks apprehensively at both father and son.
At the repair shop, Pablo and the family toast the opening of the shop with beers. Nerón again thanks his sons for paying the fine; he swears in their mother’s name that he will pay back every last cent. His sons assure him that they are there to support him. Flor adds that even Pablo was supportive since he came to help clean the shop. When the sons wonder where Pablo came from and whether he might be one of Nerón’s long lost sons, Nerón assures them that he was always faithful to his Carmelita…as he is now faithful to his Flor. (You need to get that settled in case you need Mouth to Mouth again.)
At Mau’s house, Mau knows that Renée won’t believe anything he says now, but there is still time to come up with the money so she can complete her program. When he tries to continue, Renée interrupts and tells him not to do anything because she doesn’t need his help, she will take care of it. She tries to leave, but when Mau tries to hold her back, Renée shouts, “Don’t touch me again! Don’t look at me! And don’t address me! Do you see that I was right? You are the same liar as always! You are incapable of speaking the truth…not even with your own daughter! You know perfectly well what I’m talking about!” As Renée starts to leave, Mau gets a call from Fabián who needs to see him right away; so Renée tells him that if he has to leave, she will stay with Anifer.
Outside, Rodrigo tells Jorge that he saw them from afar; and when he saw that Jorge was about to fall, he came to help Sami. Jorge then sends Sami in to the house and asks him to tell Baldo to come out. After Sami leaves, Rodrigo advises Jorge to keep an eye on Samuel. Rodrigo knows he is not a psychologist, but in the short time he has known Sami, he sees there is something wrong…Sami may be depressed or it could be something that they couldn’t even imagine. Baldo listens as Jorge doesn’t think things are that bad. After Jorge tells Rodrigo that Samuel has always been that way and he is now entering adolescence, Baldo interrupts and tells Jorge that Rodrigo has good reason to be worried. Baldo has also noticed that Samuel is not doing well and he is into some very bad things. (Jorge are you really that clueless? They may have a place for you over at Por Amar Sin Ley.)
At Veronica’s house, Toño continues his texting with Yolanda, but she wants to call him to gossip. After he agrees, the phone rings and he answers by calling her name; though he hears Veronica ask, “Who’s Yola?” Quick on his feet, Toño tells her he was joking around with the kids telling them, “Yo la traigo; tu la traes; todos la traemos” (I bring it; you bring it; we all bring it). Veronica buys it and tells him that she is on her way back and hopes that they will be awake because she is bringing gifts for everyone. After he tells her that she shouldn’t always buy them things so as not to feel guilty, Sebastian passes by tells Veronica that they need to go; so she tells Toño that she is being called to board the plane, but Toño wonders if it is her boss, Sebas, who is calling her. Veronica responds that it is her boss and everyone else that went with them and hangs up. Toño then texts Yola that he can’t talk right now so he will see her at the school tomorrow.
Outside, Jorge knows nothing about the “Blue Shark.” Rodrigo explains that it is a game that has cost many their lives. The objective is to take on challenges that make no sense; and, in the end, they cause a lot of harm. When Baldo adds that they also hurt those close to them, Jorge can’t believe it; so Rodrigo explains that is why he came running hysterically when he saw Sami trying to make him fall…that is probably a challenge he was given…to hurt someone close to him. Jorge still thinks it’s inconceivable, but Baldo tells him it’s true because he read it on Sami’s laptop…before hurting others, they are supposed to hurt themselves.

Jorge now thinks it could be true because lately he has seen some bruises and scratches. Rodrigo thinks that only shows that Sami is into that game. Jorge wants to go ask Sami why he wanted to make him fall, but Rodrigo advises him that if he is going to confront him, he needs to be very careful and try to be understanding. If Jorge scolds him or treats him badly, Jorge could make things worse. Jorge walks off to talk to his son as Baldo and Rodrigo knock fists knowing that they got through to Jorge.
Fabián and Kika meet at a restaurant. Fabián laughs as he doubts that Kika can win Mau back, but Kika thinks she can get him back since she hasn’t used all her charms…she is just full of (it…errr) surprises. In addition to that, she has a very good proposition for that lout, Falcón…she wants to pay Falcón the money Mau owes him. She laughs as she tells Fabián that is the advantage of being a millionaire…something he would not know about. Fabián leans back and smirks as he assumes that Kika wants to have Mau completely indebted to her. Kika tells him that is only a part of her strategy. As Fabián tells her that her obsession is not love, Mau approaches and asks them what they are doing there. Kika’s light bulb flickers as she figures out that Fabián set her up and threatens a pay back (and wondering if her venom is poisonous to her same species). After Mau sits down, Fabián tells him that if he is thinking of getting back with Kika, he must tell him…that there was something that happened between him and Kika. Kika (uses all her forces to keep her fangs from coming out and…) calls him a lout as Fabián tells Mau that it would be best that he not accept anything from this (snake…err) woman.

My favorite scenes continue to be those of Mauricio becoming a daddy...luurve those two together!

It seems that Neron's transformation into a good dad is coming along nicely...now he just needs to work on his jealousy and insecurities.

Fabian really surprised me, but I'm glad he turned on the snake he is in love. That must have been really hard to do....he totally burned that bridge!

I was relieved to see that Sami's involvement with the Blue Shark was dragged out. How will JOrge handle it...will he continue his normal strict authoritarian strategy ...or will he take Rod's advice? Hopeoing it;s the latter.

More tomorrow...

Oopsie!... "Sami's involvement with the Blue Shark wasN'T dragged out..."

Thanks, RgvChick, for another womderful recap.

Samuel needs to be in treatment somewhere. I could not believe him messing with the ladder with Jorge on it. At least Rodrigo was there to basically save his life. Jorge better sleep with one eye open woth that killer in training in the house.

Loved the scene with Nerón, Flor, Milady, the sons and the portrait of Nerón’s first wife.

Toño enjoyed the mother’s group and Yola way too much.

WoNderful—sounds much better!

Oh RGV. Excellent. Funny funny and your screen shots were the best. You even got the Yola leg-rub. I am actually beginning to enjoy Tono now that he is prey to such an irresistible thing as Yola. How long before she pins him on the table right in front of her girlfriends and kisses him?

And I agree. Mau the Daddy-In-Training and Anifer are just magic. I could watch the whole show with just them.

Though I realize he has his hands full and is trying, I just have so much trouble rooting for Jorsushu. If he would just lighten up a tiny bit. There are Nuns at that school who have more fun than old Jorgy Boy. Baldo is redeeming himself with showing concern about Sammy and ratting him out for his own good..

Thanks. Now every time I see Lil I secretly see that Tasmanian Devil chick from Double Life with red glowing demon eyes.

Fabian totally surprised me. I had assumed he would at the very least try to parlay this into his other piece of tail this year. I suppose once is enough for him.

Thanks again RGV Chikie. I know this takes a lot of effort, and I can imagine the tedium in getting the screen shots.

Thanks Jarifa and Kirby!

Jarifa, the scene with Neron and his sons was another favorite. It’s always a joy to see a rigid father show emotion...and love for his sons. I was wondering how the writers were going to bring the sons back into Neron’s life and it was nicely done. Too bad it had to take a near-death experience but it seems that something extreme usually has to happen to bring people back together.

Kirby, I chose that screenshot of Lili to prove my point about how she can look devilish. Tasmanian devil...YESSS!!

Rgv Chickie, thank you very much for this excellent recap, the screenshots, and the naughty and wickedly funny comments. "Renée is flabbergasted and wonders if Kika is for real…(As we mull over our suspicions about some parts ourselves…)" for one. I'm almost beginning to feel sorry for Kika considering what is said about her here... um, even if I might be a little guilty myself.
:-)

Toño is a stronger man than he looks if he could resist that leg rubbing. Maybe all the estrogen that must have been in the air around that table helped neutralize the testosterone rush.

Renee is really ticked with Mau. Really ticked. It might be a while before they set off another rose petal sprinkler. Maybe.

Long time lurker here. I’ve been visiting this site on and off for half a dozen years but I was never able to catch up and be current with a show to comment.

Finally, I caught a novela close enough to the beginning and just caught up with Papa a toda Madre over the weekend! Thanks, RGVChick for your recap!

I am enjoying the show. I like Mau’s slow transformation from playboy to responsible father and Anifer is adorable.

I wonder if Tono is going to actually cheat on Vero or if he’s just going to get caught flirting over texts.

I hope Jorge has some kind of epiphany soon, maybe this Blue Shark thing with Sammy is going to soften him up. One can hope.

Chickie, thank you so much for another rockin' recap. I missed most of this episode of except for a scene of Renee and Kika .I appreciated the screencaps too.

I am glad that Sam's secret is out. Perhaps, Jorge's penance is living with two teens and two preteens.

Andy.."rose petal sprinklers"..teehee.

Jill, WELCOME to the patio! Glad you were able to catch up and join in :-) Mau’s transformation is truly enjoyable. And Tono is fighting off Yola pretty well right now, but that texting just might lead him into turbulent waters.

Susy, I was happy that Sam’s secret was out too!

Andy, I do hope that those rose petal sprinklers don’t take too long to turn on again.

"Renée is flabbergasted and wonders if Kika is for real…(As we mull over our suspicions about some parts ourselves…)"

Just so clever! And hmmm...what is the word that starts with a "j" and means "tits on a bull". Inquiring minds (still dazed by the time change) want to know.

Well dang, we knew the Rose Petal Romance had to run into a roadblock immediately, but I was hoping for a few more episodes of lovey-dovey before Hurricane Kika hit, but guess I'll have to be content with those sweet Papi scenes with Anifer.

Thanks Rgv Chick. You are an eloquent and witty storyteller. We are lucky to have you.

Jeezo people, I'm drinking my coffee and laughing out loud. So Andy, you think there is no rush out in that rose garden to grow a new batch of petals, eh? Yeah me too. And yes, we are kinda rough on Kik, and I must admit she is one good looking babe. Her legs for sure have that 'Gym Rat' look. You can't glue that on.

And sorry grownups, but Anifer is the star of this show. The bathroom stuff, Mau was completely out of his element. But he always is unless he is just standing around looking handsome.

Poor Renee, she announces to Kika that she will not play her 'Fighting over a man' game, and turns around in the next breath and fires a return salvo. Oh my, a woman in luuuurve, against a woman whose puppy has broken his leash.

Neuron was hilarious waking with his ex wife (picture). I thought of Fred Sanford always grabbing his chest and proclaiming "I'm coming Elisabeth'.

Tono is a stronger or more frightened man than me. I would be already trying to figure out a way to explain to Vero that a test drive is not like BUYING the car. We men are short on will power in that area. I'm sure it has to do with survival of the species, but even to me, it seems overkill. Sigh.

Did Anifer get a bath clothes and all? Those hair braids she was showing Mau, yikes. Can you imagine what his work would look like? When Ani was tired of it she would just have to cut it off.

I had to laugh at Jorge climbing that ladder one-foot-one-rung at a time in terror. And he ultimately was never more than about head high off the ground..

I am waiting for Laura at the school to try to kiss Jorge or to offer to smoke some weed with him. It will be like in Bugs Bunny cartoons where he runs right through a wall leaving a perfect cutout of himself in the wall.

Thanks again RGV. A delight.

And before I forget, Good Morning Jill. I think the only thing which will keep Tono faithful, is he is just too much of a wussy to cheat. Not his love for Vero or his kids, but the fact that he just doesn't have the cahonies to do it. Any man who is afraid of a vacuum cleaner and is overwhelmed by a Maytag doesn't have the right equipment too actually go through with it.

The mystery to me is why Yola is interested in him, unless she is one of these 'Rehabber' chicks who wants to shave him, buy him some clothes, give him a bath and a haircut and show the result off to her many girlfriends. ? ? ?

Hi, Jill.

I don't think that Tonto will cheat. I think that he likes the company and is flattered by the attention.

Every time I see Kika stuffed in that sausage casing of a dress , I think how uncomfortable she must be. I wonder if she just wears the same dress every day, or maybe she has a whole closetful of those solid color sausage casing dresses. The local weather girls have kind of a uniform of those solid color sheath dresses , but they are not quite as tight .

Well, time for coffee!

P.s. WE got just a light covering of snow overnight, but it is sticking to the trees and looking pretty.

Good morning patio. Good morning imperious, impressive eagle.

Rgv Chick, a heart-warming recap to savor during the blizzard.

"chummy hug". "(As you know, she tires easily now?)" and "Renée is flabbergasted and wonders if Kika is for real…(As we mull over our suspicions about some parts ourselves…)" were simply great.

Jarifa, I agree that Neron and his sons (along with the HUGE picture of his wife) was great fun. I know the boys love their mother but honestly, did they think parading her life size portrait in was the medicine their father needed? Honor thy mother but do it with a wallet size picture please. I felt badly for Flor. And wait! Is this the first time little Milady has cried?? I think she was doing it in empathy for her mother. :)

Mau and Anifer are priceless. Kirby, I could also watch them all day. Anifer was especially sweet last night. I really felt her love for her father.

On the sour side, I was really biting my nails over Samuel Susanlynn. Not understanding the dialog, I was afraid A) he was going to hurl himself over the balcony or B) make a rush at Baldo and try and throw HIM over. The fact that he not only considered hurting Jorge but actually might have done so had Rodrigo not intervened was frightening

Andy, Renee is really mad at Mau, granted with good reason. The "Rose Petal Romance" (good one Judy) was interrupted. But as usual, I'm sure he will get over it fairly quickly as he is relatively unphased by anything.

Tono is relishing the attention he's getting but isn't totally oblivious. I think he's going to stretch things out without trying to do (or get caught) anything technically wrong. Yola is a go getter. Good luck with that...

Welcome Jill!

RgvChick, wishing you and all your kidz a wonderful day. Thank you.

Diana

I just realized that Maria, Ani's Mom is Erika from Vino. Miguel's squeeeee with asthma who died.

Susy that slit up the side, is that where the stitching finally gave up, or by design to show more skin?

Well, Gloria Trevi used to go around wrapped in saran wrap. JUST Saran Wrap.

We are only due for a little snow this p.m. Everyone out east, stay safe!

Kirby...Gee, I did not see most of this episode. Are you sure that is the same actress who played Erika in VIno ?

Does anyone know if KIka has been wearing the same dress or if she had a whole bunch of those dresses made by someone? If I like something, I often buy several of the item but in different colors . Is that what wardrobe did for KIka , or has she been in the same dress since she first appeared on our tv screens? Does she ever wear jeans and a tee-shirt?

Susy --------------------------------------------------->

Kirby...thanks. I did not recognize her. It is always fun to see these folks in different roles. I miss the many popular actors and actresses who are no longer working at Uni. Que lastima.

I don’t think Tono wants to cheat, I mean she sends the bait and he knows it’s there. If he’s not getting any attention in the household, he’s at least getting it from the group moms.

As for why Yola wants him, maybe she’s like those women who feel empowered when they get involved with married men. She could have also been the cheater in her failed marriage. Or maybe she just likes his personality. As much as everyone hates Tono’s faults, he’s funny and has a lot of personality.

So sad and scary that Sammy would try to hurt his father that way. I wonder if Jorge believes in counseling.

I’ve wondered why Lili has her hair braided in that particular way. It’s reminded me of medusa too.

Maia

Thanks Jarifa!

OK Kirby. I'm lost. I saw this (or thought I did) - where and when did we see Ani's mother??

I like the actress. Would have been nice to see her!

Diana

Tonto seems to be enjoying the attention from all the mommies . He must be all puffed up being the only rooster in the midst of all these hens. What do you think, Chickie? I still do not see him actually cheating on Vero. In the end, they will find the way back to each other.

P.s. Some women will f!irt with a married man right in front of his wife. What is up with that ? (Asking for a friend.)

Loving Gladys’outbursts.

Thanks, Rgv Chick. Jorsufus prepares for his next run at Mensa membership. -- What a great line.

At the foundation, Renée thinks it’s comical that two women would confront each other over a man

Especially since the man is broke and clueless ... but he is guapo and loves his daughter and a good time.

Goodness, Sami needs a lot of help. Ordinarily, I don't like PSAs in TNs but if this alerts parents in Viewerville, I'm for it. Plus I think the show is doing it well. Yay, Baldo spoke up.

When the sons wonder where Pablo came from and whether he might be one of Nerón’s long lost sons,

Now that was funny. I'm so glad Neron's sons are back. They were funny in the early days of the show, so I wondered why the writers banished them.

Yay, Fabian returned and ratted out Kika.

Good afternoon, everybody! Welcome, Jill! I am with you hoping that this Blue Shark thing softens up Jorge. It was really depressing to see Sammy kicking the ladder like that. And remember that this challenge was to harm someone Sammy dislikes . So first he thinks of Baldo, then his father? Sammy needs help.

Yeah, Jorge should just share a joint with Laura and chill. Is Laura married?

Rgv Chickie, I meant to thank you for last week's info on "Papi Rongo".

I find it interesting that some women here wonder about Lili's hair. Whenever I see anything odd about a woman's hair I just think "Ah, women..." because women seem to like to do odd things with their hair. Tease it, dye it, braid it, shave it , shave one side of the head but not the other, and things I prefer to not even remember. Even 7 y/o Anifer showed Mau a picture of some elaborate braiding she wanted him to do for her. Good luck with that, kid.

Women's hair, like TNs, sometimes just calls for more willing suspension of disbelief.

:-)

:-)

Good Day to All! ...and thank you everyone for stopping by and adding to the fun :-)

JudyB, "the Rose Petal Romance had to run into a roadblock immediately, but I was hoping for a few more episodes of lovey-dovey before Hurricane Kika hit" That romance was too short-lived for many of us! It's like giving us a sniff of a delicious slice of pizza and taking right away! Boo-hoo!

Kirby I agree that Renee fell right into Kika's little game though she had just refused to do just that! And "I am waiting for Laura at the school to try to kiss Jorge or to offer to smoke some weed with him. It will be like in Bugs Bunny cartoons where he runs right through a wall leaving a perfect cutout of himself in the wall." Now that would be very likely! Too funny!

Susy, I've seen Kika wearing different dresses...and not just in color. They are all sausage casing types, but the tops have been a different cuts.

Diana, Sam's situation is definitely nail-biting material. The kid needs LOTS of help that Jorge will not be able to provide. In regards to Ani's mom, we didn't see her in this episode. Maybe Kirby remembers her from a previous episode. Maia, I sure hope Jorge believes in counseling!

Jarifa, I agree, Gladys is like a breath of fresh air with her outbursts!

Andy, "It was really depressing to see Sammy kicking the ladder like that. And remember that this challenge was to harm someone Sammy dislikes . So first he thinks of Baldo, then his father?" That was truly depressing. It didn't surprise me at all that Sam would target Baldo, but his father? I'm sure Sam doesn't like Jorge, but to dislike/hate him enough to hurt him...that's hard to believe.

I think we saw Anifer’s mother way back towards the beginning of the novela.

As for Samuel, any child of his age who was about to intentionally hurt/kill a family member should be out of the house to protect the rest. Jorge better get smart quickly.

"...Tease it, dye it, braid it, shave it , shave one side of the head but not the other, and things I prefer to not even remember" was great Andy.

Diana

#askingforafriend :-) Uh Huh...... In that situation it is just plain old cattyness and oneupwomanship. Like "In your Face Honey, look what I can do."

Diana the last time we saw Mother Anifer was in some flashbacks Mauricio, I think, was having in addition to the ones Jarifa mentioned in the first few episodes..

I too was surprised 'Someone you HATE' included Jorge. He and his children are not close, but he is not hateful to them.

Susy, remember DisGrace on David in Vino? Right in front of her Sister ! I kinda miss Grace with that alabaster skin and blood red lips.

I was scrolling through the comments to see if anybody caught it but i also kind of saw a spark between Jorge and the principal Laura. I like that pairing and i think it will do Jorge some good. I don't see her a hippie but just as a laid back type of person. Might become my favorite couple to look forward to. I was surprised with Fabian and relieved. Glad he didn't turn out to be a foe for Mauricio. Is anyone else annoyed with Kika's voice? Ugh can't stand the accent.

Normal Kika

Thanks RGV!!! Welcome Jill!!

Ana, I totally did! Jorge and Laura would make a crazy couple but boy could he use her advice and judgement.

Sammy choosing to hurt Jorge didn't surprise me. I haven't seen Jorge hug Sammy once. Remember how Sammy was distraught over his mom leaving and who was going to give him hugs? Jorge is physically cold to his children. He takes no interest in them. No wonder there is no affection.

ITA that Mau and Anifer are the best thing watching. Too too cute these two together.

Ana...Kika's sing sing baby talk drives me crazzzy.

The actress playing Gladys is making a lot out of a relatively small role.

Kirby ...yes,Disgraceful was a fascinating character whom we loved to hate . The actress is a fantastic villain.

Jarifa, you are absolutely right in that Samuel is not only a danger to himself and others.

I keep wondering what would have happened if Baldo had been climbing that ladder and/or if Rod had not intervened.

It was obvious he was struggling with what he was doing, but he moved that ladder not once but several times so...

I'm going to be interested in how Jorge handles him tonight. Carvivlie, I would love it if he would give his son a huge hug but I don't think that will happen.

Diana

Shithead Jorge will handcuff him to the toilet.

Diana, I am hoping that Jorge talks to the hippie principal about Sam and not the priest who has not been helpful or sympathetic in the past.

Andy, it is interesting that your comment about a lack of interest in hair is almost exactly like a comment by a male commenter on the forum discussing the Outlander hero's hair and bad wig. I guess women notice hair more than men. I do not get that half shaved look either. It must pose a problem if you want to change styles and grow it out.

Ana, yeah I wondered about that, that is why I wrote about those two above. But Jorge seems terrified of her, to her amusement, it appeared.

Jorge seems to (strangely) have a fear of authority...

Diana

Susanlynn, for my part it is not a lack of interest in women's hair as it is a matter of acceptance. Even looks I don't like start to grow on me after a while... and then they fall out of fashion and the cycle starts all over again.

Wigs are another thing. Early on several people commented on Veronica's wig. "Wig?", I thought. What wig? After being tipped off by the comments I started looking closely. I never did see any sign that it was a wig.

Meh. 0% on predictions, can't tell when a TN dream sequence ends and TN "reality" begins, can't tell if a woman is wearing a wig. Good thing I don't watch TNs for credit, I could never pass the exam, and if it weren't for the recaps I would have to drop the course WF. GPA of 0.0. Ouch!

:-)

Wait! Wait! Wait! I'm not totally clueless as to hair and wigs!

The first TN that I watched in recent years was "Mi Adorable Maldicion" which ended with a (Surprise!) big wedding.

The lovely heroine and bride, Aurora, had really beautiful hair at the wedding that incorporated falls (falls? I think they're called "falls") unless she grew a lot of really, really long and full hair shortly after being kidnapped and rescued, etc., etc., etc.

This I did notice and thought looked beautiful.

Love the discussion on wigs (I too did not think Veronica had a wig and I'm a card-carrying gal!) and I can never tell the falls from the real hair. Just find myself admiring the total effect.

And yes, Ana, I too, while watching at lunch-time, found myself hoping for an eventual pairing between uptight Jorge and laid-back Laura. Ultimately they would drive each other crazy in a bad way. But first off they would drive each other crazy in a great way. (the tale of doomed romance) So I kept trying to look and see if she was wearing a wedding ring. Guess not. Sharp-eyed Rgv Chick, did you see one? If not, the race is on.

Well, on hairstyles, Lili's is about as unflattering as you can get. Always wonder why they do those. She would be much prettier with some some waves and free-flowing hair in my opinion. That looks uncomfortable and does absolutely nothing for her.

Jorge "I'm the man" was very funny on the ladder. I a big wuss on heights too and never get very high on ours when I have to trim the trellis greenery.

Andy, YOu are not the only one who did not notice that Vero was wearing a wig, and I just watched her in VIno. but then, I am not the most observant person.I already confessed here that Hubba once shaved off his beard and mustache after dropping me off at work and I never noticed when he picked me up. Also, I often do not notice what he is wearing when we leave the house , and our daughter finds it amusing when she sees that we are wearing the same colors. ...totally unplanned.
Do they still call them "falls" ? Is there a difference between falls and extensions? I have never worn either or a wig. I wash my hair, put in a couple curlers, take them out, brush my hair...done. #lowmaintenanceperson

Don't feel bad Andy. I was the one who gushed that the beautiful Veronica had the prettiest hair on the show. To which the girls here gently unceremoniously mentioned that even Dolly Parton would not be caught in THAT Frederick's knock off.

I made a mental not to not stick my muzzle where it does not belong and stick to things I might know something about, as most of my hair experience has to do with keeping it out of my way and monthly removal of approximately the same amount each time.

Falls? Maybe extensions or weaves?

You guys tired of everyday Kika?

There

Yes. Extensions or weaves. Couldn't remember the term so went with Andy's. Love the pic. Wow! And he's off to the racers!

Andy, "fall" is a totally accurate term. My dear aunt had and used them albeit many years ago.

I noticed that except for Maite, no other female has top billing. Not Kikkie, not Vero, Anifer, not Flor. Nada. Yet, Tono, Neron and even Jorge (who I've never even seen before this) have their names appearing first. Hmmmm. Am I getting cranky? Is the raging blizzard outside that shows no sign of abating to blame???

Now here's a bird worth watching! Beauty in flight.

Seriously, the "real" Kika is quite pretty and I'm sure she is a nice person.

Diana

She just looks like any other not ugly slim girl out of costume.

Judy you are not even supposed to be reading that stuff. That is the time when you are to be getting the finishing touches on your snack.
