Papá a toda madre Wednesday 4/18/18 Capitulo 65: Going Around in Circles --OR--Marching in Place

We pick up with a very sad Flor talking to Milady and telling her how afraid she is of leaving her alone in the world and her father not being able to care for her. Pablo cuts the conversation short looking for Nerón who is throwing out the garbage. It turns out that Pablo has an idea on how to bring more people into the tire shop and make them more money.

As they leave, all of the other guys are getting together to meet about the cooperative but Nerón tells them that he cannot make it because of business at the tire shop. He finally gives in when it turns out to be promised to be only a short meeting. Mauricio introduces them to María Anifer's mother who is there as an advisor. The issue is capital. How much money can each of them bring into the business? Nerón can't bring anything in right now. He has to save every single penny. Jorge gets that but Nerón should look at this like an investment and not an expense. Nerón understands that but he he simply cannot. He has much more serious things to think about. He doesn't know how Jorge can say that anyway. He doesn't have any money either. Jorge admits that things are going badly for him, too. Jorge asks Toño next. Toño jokes but is in the same predicament and with the divorce it is even worse. They all think that Mauricio should have some disposable income since he sold Logatoys. Mauricio is at a loss for words. Jorge defends him by saying that "Mr. López Garza" does not owe them any explanations. Mauricio comes out with the truth. He did not sell the company. He gave it away because of Anifer. He did it so she would not find out that he was not her dad. It is out. The company is history and he has not a peso. Even though Anifer is not his blood, she might as well be because that is how he loves her. María looks at him and is beaming with happiness.

Falcón and Fabián are at Logatoys looking at a "no risk" toy design that is a clown. Fabián is confident about it. Falcón is more interested in asking if there are more designs at Fabián's home that his father might have done because he understood that it was his father who always designed the toys. Falcón doesn't want to stick his nose in where it is not wanted, but just maybe his father has some designs that they might use. Fabián reminds him that that his father thinks they are dismantling the company. Falcón wants to know how his father is doing and not just physically. Fabián starts to get peeved and insists that his father is perfectly well. Falcón says he was only asking because the last time he saw him he looked a little agitated. Fabián now stands up and tells him that he will never send his father to a psychiatrist.

At Inovacar, Verónica spills some coffee on herself as her secretary comes in and asks if she is under a little stress. Well, she has a little more work for her. Sebastián comes in next trying to talk her into taking the position in Texas. He knows she is ready for it. It is an incredible opportunity. She thanks him for everything including his perseverance but he is offering this to her at the worst time ever. He has no idea. He asks her what is going on. "His heart" will listen to everything she wants to say. She is having so many fights with her husband that they are going to separate. Sebastián thinks that she will be able to find all sorts of guys available in Texas inside of the company and outside. No, she is not interested. Sebastián thinks it is the perfect time to make the break. She has to think of her children and how great it would be great for them to learn English perfectly. Sebastián presumes that they are going to get a divorce. Verónica does not know since they have spent so many years together and have their three children. Sebastián can only see the upsides of her taking the job. She is such a talented woman but she has to believe it about herself, have confidence in herself and take advantage of opportunities like this one. He is there to listen to her.

Renée is talking to Carlitos'(child with autism) mother Sonia who just knew that everything was going to turn out just fine for her. Renée cannot believe that they are even paying for her plane ticket. She knows that her work will be able to help a lot of children like her son Carlitos with autism. Renée cannot wait. Carlitos' mother reminds her how many lives she will change. She wishes her good luck. Renée thanks her for everything. Renée calls Verónica to meet for a coffee and a chat. She needs her advice.

Lili is at school with Baldo and they are talking with all of their friends. Lili gets a sudden attack of nausea and one of the guys teases her about being "pregnant." A girl starts to go on with how pregnancy would be basically the kiss of death for any girl their age: pregnancy is equal to no future. Baldo tries to stop the teasing. As Lili excuses herself and Baldo takes her aside, he asks what she is going to do when se starts showing. Exasperated, she walks away from him, too.

Mauricio is still with the guys and is finishing the details of how he gave the company to Fabián. He is just upset that the action taken against him had to affect all of them. All of the guys agree that he had no other choice when it came to his child. Jorge explains that legally there is no way out. Nerón takes this last bit of news as making the launch of a cooperative impossible. Mauricio reminds him they are just starting out and that they can ask the bank for a loan. Not considering it too hopeful that they could fulfill the bank's requirements to get a loan, Jorge doesn't want to get ahead of himself so they would have to see what the bank would decide. María adds her two cents and thinks it is very risky to depend on dealings with banks. Maybe they could find an alternative and "subversive" way for doing things. Jorge just hears subversive and reacts saying it would definitely not be done that way. That would be dangerous. It scares him. Watch out! He would not like that at all. To him it sounds like trade unions, Communists,. . . really bad. . . María tries to lighten it up saying it is only an expression. María would be interested in a social project helping to produce a line of traditional Mexican toys made by Mexican artisans in addition to the most popular Logatoy ones. She could get the strategy going since she has connections in the community and indigenous cooperatives. Toño says it doesn't sound like a bad idea but again where do they get the money to start out. He suggests starting a Kickstarter campaign. Mauricio agrees with María that their most valuable asset is his catalogue of patents and suggests that maybe they could find investors to produce the most successful: the "papá-mamá." It would be for a good cause and it has a good message.

Lili goes to talk to Pablo and says no matter how she thinks about it she cannot keep the baby. He asks if it is a matter of money? He asks if she wants to go back to the clinic again. No, she wants to have it. She just does not want to raise it. She wants to give the baby up for adoption.

Jorge is at home and he takes out a manila folder that is entitled "Trust" and has Lili and Baldo's name on it. He sits on his bed and thinks.

Back at Mauricio's, María expresses her gratitude for everything Mauricio has done for Anifer. He says it was nothing extraordinary. Any father would have done the same. She tells him that he is the best father she could have ever picked for Anifer and thanks him again. Mauricio says Anifer changed his life. He looks exceptionally proud and happy when she tells him he is one of the few real men that are left.

Renée is meeting with Verónica. It seems that Renée is all confused about what to do leaving Anifer and Mauricio. Verónica tells her to first think of herself and then about the others. She tells her that Anifer is a sweetie but she does have a mother now. Verónica also tells her that going to study would just be the best thing ever. Renée knows that but she loves Mauricio and does not know what to do with that relationship with the distance involved if she goes away to study. Renée asks about Verónica and her plans to get a divorce. The plans are still on. She admits that she and Toño have changed. She even gives Toño high marks for the way he takes care of the children and for cooking better than she. They have just realized that they just aren't the same people any more. She feels bad about saying it but Toño has no dreams, nothing that really motivates him, nothing that he wants to do for himself. Yes, the children know about the divorce and accepted it like nothing. Verónica is now deciding just how close she wants to be with Toño.

Pablo does not like the adoption idea. They will never know what happened to their child. It would be much better for both of them to keep the child. Lili asks him how they are going to pay their child's way in the world. She doesn't have a job and he is flat out broke. She knows it is hard to hear but it is the truth. He doesn't even have enough money to go to the USA. She is no way ready to take care of a baby. He thinks if he finds his dad in the USA, he will give them all of the money they need. She is not buying it. Pablo suggests that they talk to her dad. Maybe he would be willing to help. Lili thinks he is crazy thinking that her dad would help them out. Pablo makes it clear he is not in favor as adoption as an option for his child. He thinks she needs to think it over better. She accuses him of not understanding her at all.

Renée arrives at Mauricio's where he has been getting his ego-boost from María. She asks how the meeting about the cooperative went. Mauricio says it went okay. María says that even though they do not have the money, all of Mauricio's friends have the right attitude and that in itself is a step in the right direction. It becomes clear that Renée came to talk to Mauricio so María excuses herself to pick up Anifer at school. No, Renée does not want to sit down or fool around with Mauricio. She tells him that she has her plane ticket to Maryland to arrange her graduate studies. She is going tomorrow and early. Mauricio is shocked.

Toño is at Restrepo Sistemas where Mr. Bustamante is asking him if he is interested in the job of executive assistant. Yes, he is. Yes, he is married with three children. Mr. Bustamante informs him that at their company they support the family as a lifelong comittment just like God commands even though they do keep their eye on the future and modernity. Toño gets a phone call he has to answer. Toño has to leave to pick up his kids at school. Since he is very strict with them about being on time, he doesn't like to arrive late. Mr. Bustamante just grins.

Mauricio says he knew that that was Renée's plan but he did not think it would be happening so quickly. She just doesn't understand why she would be putting her spot in jeopardy for no good reason. He himself told her that she had to decide. She also understands his position with Anifer and the cooperative being her legacy. He reminds her that the cooperative was also supposed to help her. She brings up the fact that her continuing with her studies was okay when HE was making travel plans to go to Maryland without consulting her. Renée insists that she was going to continue her studies long before any talk of the cooperative. They talked about staying close through messaging, video chats, whatever. Isn't that what they agreed to? Mauricio pinpoints the problem: they made so many plans and changed them so many times, he doesn't even know what they agreed to. Renée cannot believe what she is hearing. They start to argue and talk over each other.

At the doctor's office, Flor goes off with the specialist for chemotherapy as Nerón cares for Milady. Later, the doctor tells Flor about the unpleasant side effects she can expect from the treatment. She says she is feeling just fine so far and chattering as fast as ever.

María talks to Anifer about school on the way home. She asks if she wants to stay at her school. Anifer does. The best that María can do is let her finish out the school year there and then talk about it. It is evident that Anifer wants María and Mauricio "back together again."

Pablo is talking to Rodrigo who has stopped by to pick up his car at the tire shop. He hands some papers that Rodrigo has left on the hood of the car. The papers are about baby adoptions. Rodrigo explains that he and Rafael are trying to figure out some way to have a child of their own in their lives. It is really complicated and his partner is dedicated to it no matter the cost. Rodrigo leaves.

At Kika's suite, she and Jorge are having an argument about when to make their relationship public. He appreciates her not pressuring him but she has no intentions to keep their relationship in the closet. He just wants the time she said she would be giving him. He tries to use Lili's situation and his poor finances as an excuse. She wants to help and suggests since he work with her because she could give him money. Jorge is not interested. He will get out of his financial mess all by himself. Nevertheless, he is very grateful to her and kisses her. She tells him he has to learn how to relax, not to be so intolerant and so inflexible. He has problems with his kids, so what parent doesn't? He argues that he has four adolescents which translate into big problems for him. It is very complicated and though he hates to admit it to himself, at times they are simply unbearable. Kika sees him as having contributed to these problems. For example, if he had talked about sex and protection with Lili, she wouldn't be pregnant. Jorge quickly wants to change the topic. She hopes that he will think about what they have been talking about.

Renée tells Anifer she is leaving but will be back within the week. When she is actually in school, they still can communicate. She will send her photos of everything. The most important thing is that she is with her mother who will take care of her just like Renée's mother took care of her. María is looking on with a smile while Mauricio looks on with a frown. Anifer gives her a good luck hug and Renée kisses her goodbye. She says "goodbye" and "see you soon" to Maria and a silent Mauricio. María wishes her a good trip. After Renée shuts the door, Mauricio yells that he will be waiting for her and to take care. Both Anifer and María give him the stink eye.

At Toño's house, Toño tells Verónica that he solved his job problem. Tania comes running in pleading with her mother to tell her dad to take her to soccer this afternoon. Verónica wants to know why she would not be going. Toño says that Tania cannot do everything. She is in ballet already. Tania likes soccer better. Toño sends all of the kids off to brush their teeth. Toño and Verónica argue about the soccer. He likes seeing Tania all pretty in her tutu. Verónica will not give in no matter how hard Toño argues his position about sports injuries, etc. Toño finally takes out the "she misses her mother card". Tania just stands there all quiet and sad. Verónica tells Toño he is just a typical Mexican macho. Toño does not know what to say. His mother Esperanza sits down at the table and tells Toño it is time to go as all of the children have gathered ready to leave. She also reminds him that children learn from everything that they hear. Verónica and Esperanza are left at the table in silence rolling their eyes.

At Jorge's, Baldo is complaining to Jorge about Lili showing soon at school. She comes into the living room with the other kids, hears him and tells Baldo that getting pregnant is not a crime. Jorge tells them all to just be calm and that Lili will decide herself when and how to leave school. She is shocked that that decision is being left up to her.
Baldo asks Jorge if he does not care if she is out there with a big belly. No, Jorge does not care. The truth is that Lili is not the first or will be the last adolescent girl who will go through this. He wants them to live peacefully as a family and accept it.

At the tire shop, Pablo has an idea for a two for one tire deal on Mondays. Nerón likes that idea since almost nobody comes in on Mondays. The other employee thinks a nice fat sandwich would go well with the purchase of a tire. Nerón is not impressed. They are interrupted by a hip swinging Flor dressed in her best with a megaphone standing at the door of the tire shop announcing all of the merits of La Cachetona tire shop. Nerón as usual is not too sure about her public performance but she is all revved up. She finally gets him to play along.

María is telling Mauricio that there are plenty of ways to get money without running off to the bank or to his rich friends. Mauricio is ready to be told what those ways are because he does all of his financing "mainstream". María looking at his sad face and asks if he is like he is because of Renée. Mauricio says that they have their little problems and it is really nothing that cannot be solved. He tells her not to worry. She wonders about that because it seems that all of his problems started when she arrived. He assures her she is not the cause of any of it. He thanks her and says he will take care of it. She tells him if he ever needs anyone to talk to . . . He thanks her. María finds it necessary to tell him that in her experience long distance relationships are very complicated. He should talk to Renée before she leaves for good. Mauricio asks if she would mind if he tried to get money from his rich friends before looking into her alternative methods of financing. She smiles.

Flor is still going at it strong and dancing. Nerón watches on with Pablo and finally he looks like he appreciates Flor for all that she is. Pablo remarks that she looks just like she always does. The euphoric mood ends quickly as Flor becomes dizzy, falls and lands on her derriere. Nerón helps her up and takes her inside while Pablo and the other employee keep the excitement up with their own dancing.

Mauricio goes to see his good-times-carousing buddy Sebastián to try to talk him into investing in the new cooperative. Mauricio wants to be seen not as his friend but as the inventor of his big hit the "papá mamá" dolls. Sebastián is not interested and tells him that none of their friends are going to be interested in investing either because there is a lot of talk going on about Mauricio's disloyalty to Logatoys. They are shocked with how it all turned out. They see Fabián as the man who made Logatoys a success. Mauricio tries to explain that it was not his fault. Sebastián suggests that he use the good amount of money he must have received from the sale of Logatoys to invest in his new business. Mauricio doesn't want to get into a long discussion about the money since it is so hard to explain. He makes it clear that he is just asking Sebastián as a favor that he get their old gang of friends together and he will explain everything. Mauricio would not be asking him if he really did not need his help. Sebastián finally gives in and talks about Mauricio owing them at least a champagne breakfast.

Nerón takes Flor to the doctor who tells them that this is the beginning of a period of time when Flor really should not be by herself so she does not put herself or the baby in danger. Flor tries to make light of it. Nerón tell her that he has already decided to sell the tire shop so they will have more money and so he will be able to spend more time with her. She is shocked he would take that kind of a decision without consulting her. His response is he is doing it because he is calling the shots.

Mauricio tells María about the plan to meet with his group of friends. María brings up where and how they will be meeting and what will they have to provide for his group of friends as potential investors. They are interrupted by a text from Renée telling Mauricio that she has arrived. He texts her back that he will contact her soon but the text suddenly is not going through as planned.

Sebastián is making the arrangements for the group of friends to meet as Mauricio asked. His secretary Tina is taking care of the details. The subject for the e-vite will be: "Investment in Mau's Cooperative". As Tina makes the list of guests, she ends up inviting Fabián. How could she not include Mauricio's best friend from Logatoys?

The Barrientos kids and Anifer are waiting to get picked up after school. Valentina notices that both Anifer's mom and dad are both there to pick her up. She remembers when her own parents did the same thing. Will Anifer's parents get married again? Anifer says they never were married. Maybe they will fall in love. Neto asks what is going to happen with Renée since she didn't come to pick her up. Anifer wonders what will happen to Renée if her parents fall in love.

Fabián is at Logatoys on the phone with Gladys asking if she is sure that María Cruz has not called. Gladys goes off on him as we hear her squirrel voice over the line. Fabián says that she will call. Falcón suggest that the best thing would be to leave Mauricio in peace. They got what they wanted. Fabián thanks him for his opinion but Falcón does not understand anything. Before he can say anymore, Fabián receives the e-vite to Mauricio's event. It makes him laugh that he is being invited to a get together whose purpose is to raise funds to invest in a new project of Mauricio's. Fabián says that Mauricio has finally gotten himself moving and now there will be some competition. That is the very reason he cannot leave that "enemy" in peace. Falcón wonders why they invited him. Fabián says they invited all of Mauricio's stuck-up friends. That is why he was included.

Out in the cul-de-sac at the gazebo Maurico is continuing to make plans for the meeting with his friends They are extravagant. María asks who is paying for it. Mauricio says that is a good question. María suggests something really simple that represents their popular culture: handicrafts, clay plates, tacos, fruit flavored water. They can sell it all with a hipster vibe. Mauricio finds the idea incredible and especially inexpensive but he will have to run the idea past the other guys in the cooperative to see if they agree. A long time ago, Mauricio found out that working alone never solves anything and working in a group is always the answer. Maria asks about his friends who are coming. Sebastián has told him that they are all coming. He describes them as being really full of themselves. He thinks they should make a lot of noise because these people like to support just causes and cool Mexican businesses. María suggesta hanging up "papel picado" (tissue paper with designs cut in them). Mauricio asks if that is not just a little too "folksy." Before she can react Pablo comes by and Mauricio asks him how the gazebo/patio area would look decorated with "papel picado." Would it look just too "Tex-Mex"? Anifer would like it. As Pablo talks, María asks Pablo if he is Guatemalan. She could tell by the way he speaks and the words he uses.

Fabián has set up a meeting to talk to a few of his and Mauricio's friends before the investment meeting. He is not the first to arrive. Sebastián informs his two other friends who are present that Fabián wanted to talk about his complaints against Mauricio. Sebastián never thought they were that big of a deal. Who doesn't love Mauricio? Fabián is the last to arrive with a smile on his face and a bounce in his step. He tells them that if they are ready to help that moron Mauricio, he has several things to tell them. . .

Well, they sure have taken their time to set up all of these plots. I am ready for some ACTION. Renée better get back ASAP and start acting alive and like she cares about her relationship with Mauricio. María is circling him like a shark . . . With Anifer and a lukewarm Renée, he could be easy pickings.

Jarifa, thank you for the replay of last night's continuing saga to start my (rainy) day.

Poor Flor dancing and then, down on her bum on that cement floor. Ouch.

Later, after I wake up. Yawn.

Fabulous title Jarifa. And you are so right, we've been marching in place for a while, time to get some explosive action going.

María is looking on with a smile while Mauricio looks on with a frown.

That says it all. Mau is ripe for the pickins'and Renée is off in Maryland.

Hmmm...looks like it's shaping up to be an "open adoption" with R & R as the parents. Jorge has already come a long way in loosening up his rigid rules, but will he be able to countenance two guys parenting his first grandchild? Interesting dilemma.

In spite of the bouncy carioca music playing, we are hearing another tune in a very minor key with dear Flor. Not liking this at all.

But did greatly appreciate "papel picado". Thanks for that and the rollicking recap, Jarifa.

One more thing....IT'S SNOWING HERE AGAIN!!!!!!

Sensational Jarifa from the title through your comment.

"Both Anifer and María give him the stink eye" and "Pablo and finally he looks like he appreciates Flor for all that she is" were wonderful. "Renée arrives at Mauricio's where he has been getting his ego-boost from María" was excellent and my favorite.

“María looks at him and is beaming with happiness”. A slight whiff of trouble. “He looks exceptionally proud and happy when she tells him he is one of the few real men that are left”. Caution to the wind.  “She tells him if he ever needs anyone to talk to”. Real worry. Yet, “Anifer wonders what will happen to Renée if her parents fall in love”. The true kiss of death.

"Pablo makes it clear he is not in favor as adoption as an option for his child... She accuses him of not understanding her at all" made me sad.

As Rod and Rafa's storyline is limited purely to will they/won't they have child by a surrogate or adopt, it does seem like Lili's pregnancy will be interwoven into theirs. Judy, I would think it would take very strong parents to participate in an open adoption. Lili is so young, would her heart ache every time she sees her child in the adoptive parent's arms? I think it would definitely hurt Pablo although I am unsure if he would have any legal rights in this situation. I am still hoping Rafa and Rod adopt. Another child. And that Lili and Pablo can find a way to raise their child together even if they themselves are not a couple.

"Baldo asks Jorge if he does not care if she is out there with a big belly. No, Jorge does not care". Maturation, inch by painful inch.

"Renée better get back ASAP and start acting alive and like she cares about her relationship with Mau" is right Jarifa. I can't recall any parting less dramatic. Ho hum. Yup, she's leaving. No tears. Not even a kiss goodbye.

I yearn for the passionate coupling of Pasion, Amores Verdaderos and others. Jarifa and Judy you've both used "lukewarm" and I agree. This romance is tepid at best. How can we care when they don't???

Tono and Vero's fighting? I have ceased caring who is more wrong. Please just make it stop.

Too bad Fabian got invited to the party. Now he'll poison evertyhing before Mau arrives.

Jarifa, thank you. Outstanding as always.

Diana

Jarifa - thank you for your recap! I will get to watch this aft lunch hour today.

JudyB - snow again? Oh noes!!! We had very light flurries on Monday, woke up to 30° Tuesday morning and hit 80° that afternoon. This is a bizarre spring.

"Fabián now stands up and tells him that he will never send his father to a psychiatrist.". Nor will Fab ever take himself to the shrink, either. Fruit, tree, etc.

Judy, we are having a cross between sleet and hail, but no snow.

We've had early April snow but it's April 19th. Basta! :)

Diana

It is a great morning on the patio even though some of us still are dealing with some white stuff.

JudyB, we have sun and snow on the lawns and cars this a.m. Also plenty of spinouts on the roads. Here is hoping your snow stops soon!

At this point in most novelas (somewhere in the third quarter), I always feel we are in the “doldrums” and wonder if the action will ever pick up, so that is where I find myself this morning.

Susanlynn, Flor was so cute being who she was and with Nerón accepting who she was and then to be reminded of her illness by ending up on her butt.

JudyB, “we are hearing another tune in a very minor key with dear Flor” says it all.

Thanks Jarifa. I agree about Renee. Where there's smoke, there's fire, and I haven't seen Renee's panties burst into flame when she kisses Mau. The girl is as wholesome as a soggy biscuit. And as exciting too. Master's program in robotics? Hmmm may be a tad too late honey, GM has a half million of them already, and Honda twice that. Drones are even getting ho hum, you need the vision to find the next big thing.

Maria, on the other hand, quickly recognized the gift life had bestowed on her and got with the program without trying to get Mau's pants off yet, nor with removing hers. Do you know how many young single Moms never, ever find a decent loving Father for their children when the original is recalled, missing or otherwise damaged beyond use?

Poor Flor, I think unlke Yoli, she actually DID bounce. Gives 'Bouncy Butt' a nice graphic. Good that she is not skinny. Stick leggs would have broken something with her absence of any padding, maybe then she'd shut up.

Baldo, throw a handful of toilet paper on him and flush.

Normal Kika------------------------------------------------------------------------------------>>>>>>>>

Diana, I am so glad Jorge is finally changing thanks to Kika who won’t give up on him. I hope something happens with Mauricio and Renée soon. She is wearing on me with her bad attitude.

doris, you are so right about Fabiån.

Kirby, if Baldo could just be “flushed” so easily . . .

"Do you know how many young single Moms never, ever find a decent loving Father for their children when the original is recalled, missing or otherwise damaged beyond use?" Yes (I say smiling). My mother was one of them.

And yes, Maria is using her brain rather than her feminine wiles (which I am sure she has an abundant supply of). Offering to help Mau's startup and actually having something to offer? Pretty treacherous if you ask me. :)

Diana

The only explanation I can think of is that Boyer and Renee's boyfriend must constantly be just off camera looking for any excuse to start a fight.

I keep sitting too close to the TV looking for a piece of Saran Wrap between the two when they do kiss.
Though a different love, there is no lack of it with Ms. Anifer and Mauricio. They make that healthy Daddy Daughter love look as natural and sweet as can be. I'd be happy with a lot more Mau/Ani and a lot less Bickersons.

Diana, yes I know too. Mine didn't bother finding a good one so she just kept an abusive SOB around for herself.

So now that #realmom has shown up is Renee going to try to gracefully bow out and pretend to pursue her studies in a foreign country a thousand miles away?

Which one, Renee or Maria, would be the best teammate with Anifer and Mauricio to fight Fabian and the Lunatic forces of evil? I suspect it would be Maria, she has been exposed more to the dark side than Renee.
and, if push comes to shove, I'd rather see Maria kill Fab or his Pop than expect Renee to actually maybe kill her own Dad or litter mate.

I feel bad for Pablo, it seems his heart was in the right place all along. Lili, not so much. For all their tribulations, Val and Sammy are much nicer people than Lil and Baldoofus.

Judy: I'm in agreement with you on Flor. Not liking it all!

Diana and kirby, it is always interesting to hear about the different types of family situations the patio peeps have grown up in. I had a very close extended family ,( my mother's ) Who lived in the neighboring state. ...aunts, uncles, cousins.
We were with them a lot ...holidays , summer picnics. They often came to our farm. My maternal grandmother and her sister lived with my parents, sister, and me. Then, when I was 11,my grandmother died, her sister moved out, and my sister went off to college. Without my grandma to intervene, the bickering began ....my mother unhappy and yelling and my father ignoring her. I always got out in the middle by my mother who thought that I could ",fix," things. However, Things just went downhill until I met Hubba six years later, and he would just take me out of the bickering. No wonder i still feel that I should be able to fix things for everyone ! !!

Around here, it is common for pregnant students to continue to go to school. If they keep their babies , some schools provide daycare centers for their babies.

Thank you, Jarifa .

"if he had talked about sex and protection with Lili, she wouldn't be pregnant" - He did have a talk with Lili. He said no sex until marriage and confiscated her last condom. It would have been better not to have that talk.

Kirby..that is a very nice picture of Kiki.

Lucio, exactly. I would have thought that even though he might not like her having sex, he would have to like she was using protection,

Susanlynn, same here with pregnant students. Thank goodness, they just aren’t shipped off some where anymore.

Good Morning, Patio Peeps! Jarifa, sensational recap, thank you!

Well, I suppose the patio hits the nail on the head once aging. HotRod will probably convince Rafa to adopt...and lo and behold, Lili will provide the baby. Kirby, "I feel bad for Pablo, it seems his heart was in the right place all along. Lili, not so much." Sad, but true. You would think that the mother's heart strings would be pulled much more, but not so in this case. She had just told Pablo how her mother had kept them because they were a product of love...so I guess this baby is the product of a one-sided love?

JudyB, "Jorge has already come a long way in loosening up his rigid rules, but will he be able to countenance two guys parenting his first grandchild? Interesting dilemma." JOrge is really surprising us with these bursts of compassion and understanding. Hopefully the day will come when he is consistently open-minded and will accept the adoption...it's going to be tough for him to accept that.

Diana, "This romance is tepid at best. How can we care when they don't???" and Kirby, "The girl is as wholesome as a soggy biscuit" Well stated, my friends. I don't know how these two will end up together. Their "love" just doesn't seem to be strong at all. Even when they kiss and hug, it seems somewhat forced and awkward (memories of Vino are flickering). I couldn't believe she didn't even kiss Mau good-bye.

Kirby, "Which one, Renee or Maria, would be the best teammate with Anifer and Mauricio to fight Fabian and the Lunatic forces of evil? I suspect it would be Maria," Yup, definitely Maria. Renee is too wishy washy.

Doris, "woke up to 30° Tuesday morning and hit 80° that afternoon." OMGoodness, and here I thought the RGV weather was freaky; now THAT is big bounce in temperatures. JudyB, SNOWING??? I cannot even conceive that!

Vero and Tono really need to get over themselves and just think about the impression they're giving their kids for once.

I agree with Kirby on Lili and Baldo. They had to have been excessively coddled by Yuriria. Those two need to get over themselves and start thinking about others. Maybe do community service or help out Jorge by getting a job (Baldo in particular on this one). At least Jorge is getting over the family shame factor. It's sad to think that there are still communities that shame entire families over the mistake of one individual.

If Lili were to give up the child, would Pablo take him and raise him all on his own? He seemed to like the idea of Jorge taking over, though.

Honestly when I watch this novela I pay more attention to everyone else's storyline but Mauricio and Rene. It may center around them, but I just feel more invested in everyone else but them.

Maia

Sorry for those of you dealing with snow again. Just overcast bere, but it rained a bit overnight.

Ouch on that "wholesome as a soggy biscuit,," I recall someone calling me "wholesome" once upon a time. Then again, i doubt that it was meant as a compliment then either...more like a disappointment. But let',s face it , Renee and Maury are shown frolicking in the intro so they are end game. Maria can flirt all she wants and wear those cold shoulder tops, i do not think that she will survive .

Question : Why did Maury invite his enemy Fab to the party?

Poor Pablo longs for family, so no wonder he wants to keep that baby. He is a sweethart, and I feel sorry for him.

Sebastian invited Fab not knowing that he had turned on Mau

Maia, i am with you and kirby on Kiki and Baldo. Yuri must have spoiled them because there was no dad in their lives. People grow up in all types of situations. Yuri loved them , but she perhaps tried to overcompensate . Unfortunately, parents are not doing their kids a favor by not making them responsible and self disciplined. Teachers can attest to that.

I agree (although a bit disheartened) that Maria is a better match for Mau. He loves her daughter, so why not her. Deep sighs.

Maria is nothing if not decisive. She's quick, competent and creative. She is definitely a better business partner. Romantically, I think she's alredy a bit too vested already.

"She had just told Pablo how her mother had kept them because they were a product of love...so I guess this baby is the product of a one-sided love?" was perfect RgvChick.

Susanlynn, thank you for sharing your story. I believe that too often while families love each other, they sometimes barely survive each other. I have learned to hold onto whatever precious moments come my way. It was three years ago today I had my brain aneurysm rupture and I have tried to treasure each and every day. My Caray family has helped me so much in my recovery and I am very grateful.

Oh and Mau didn't invite Fab. It was the receptionist or whomever was putting the party together.

Diana

I think, Anifer aside, Maria is a better match for Mau than Renee.

Susanlynn, It was an oversight that Fabián got invited to the party. Mauricio did not invite him. Sebastián listed all the guys in his and Mauricio’s social group to invite and some of it was sort of general like “Los Del Valle” (the guys from The Valley). She added Fabián knowing he was Mauricio’s best friend. Nobody had told her any differently.

“She” was Sebastián’s secretary.

In spite of the snow and wretched cold weather, this is a happy day Diana. We all can celebrate your three-year recovery from the aneurysm. I'd say if Renée had half your grit, she'd be able to manage her master's degree and put a little more sizzle into Mr. Mau. She needs your help Kiddo.

That is indeed a reason to celebrate! Well put JudyB!

My very dear (((,Diana))) your comment about"treasuring each and every day, " is very similar to what my friend with stage 4 cancer said when we met for breakfast with two other good friends we taught with and the hubbies. Life is short , and we have to be grateful for The days we are given. Wow...I did not know that three years had passed. I did not even realize when it happened, but I have been in and sometimes out of caraycaray the last ten years or so with my life's ups and downs. Your posts always are positive and help me through each day. I am !lucky to have ",met," you.

P.s. On a lighter note, my # @* tablet kept changing "life," to , " lice, " ..hey, it is good to laugh!!!

Jarifa, thank you for a great recap, even though it has me worrying about our "first couple"
:-)

Mau is in a bad position re custody of Anifer with Fab and Maria being her biological parents. Mau and Renee don't exactly sizzle together. Earlier in this TN some folks here had fun speculating whether Renee was a virgin. Seeing them together lately I began to wonder if Renee might still be a virgin.

All this is upsetting because it makes me wonder how everything can be resolved. Does Renee get dropped? Will Something Bad happen to Fab and Maria? Fab and his father are both nut jobs, I wouldn't too much mind seeing them humanely put out of their misery, but NOT Maria. If she would do something with her hair and stop wearing those silly things that show off her shoulders (shoulders!?! WTQ??) she could be hot... and she's already nice.

Wow, is Kika having a great effect on Jorge! And she hasn't once slapped him with a fish!

Flor has me worried, though I would love to see how she looks with some over the top wigs :-)

Silly fun thing: Mau's phone displayed the caller as "Renneé". So Mau can't spell? Or Renneé's mom wanted a special name for her special baby? (Does that happen in Spanish speaking countries?)

andy

Andy: That 'missing shoulder fabric' clothing has become so insanely popular in the Spanish World I halfway expect Raul de Molina to show up om "Fat and Skinny" one afternoon wearing a sport coat like that.

Excellent recap, Jarifa. Once again we were reminded of where Anifer got her design talent. On a more personal note, if love exists, it can survive a separation. My husband and I lived apart off and on while we were establishing our careers. The I followed him, and then he followed me. My older daughter and her husband sustained their relationship despite going to different colleges thanks to the miracle of email. Now they manage to live in the same place because he has a techy job that lets him do most of his work by computer. The question with Renée and Mau is whether love really does exist. It may actually be a useful test, as María is not a bad choice as a life partner for Mauricio.

And whose bright idea was it to put two almost identical letters side by side on modern keyboards? mn nm

" as María is not a bad choice as a life partner for Mauricio."
Agree wholeheartedly SpanProf. At least there is no doubt that she is alive.

Renee reminds me of Droopy Dog the cartoon character.

Another silly fun thing: The phones never turn the screen off when they are talking like the American ones do.

Andy and kirby, those cold shoulder tops and dresses started showing up a year or so ago. You know how it is, the fashion world is always trying to change things up , so that you will spend your money to stay in style. I got talked into buying one dress last year because I liked the fabric and cut of it. I wear it with a sweater , so what's the point? I just happened to like the dress. That top probably confused Maury... Is that a sleeveless blouse with sleeves that Maria is wearing ????😵

SpanProf..I agree that relationships can survive separation if both people are fully committed. Hub and I were separated while he served in the Navy and I was in college. Nowadays, it is easier with email and skype\facetime

SpanProf...I agree that true love can survive a separation. However, in telenovelas, the galanes hardly seem to be able to survive a week (or even a night!)apart from One True Love without stumbling into infidelity. Hopefully, since this is a comedy, Mauricio will be a bit more reliable. We can only hope!

Andy, I cannot believe that Reennnneee is still a virrrrggggin because...ummm..Maury has changed, but he has not changed that much. Also, she has been spooning in bed with Marvelous Maury for quite awhile , so.... Just saying.
😎😳😘

The way things have gone for Maury, he may have forgotten which arm it is under. :-(

Susy, I agree that the spooning in bed with MarvMau is a BIG indication that Renee is definitely not a virgen. My first clue was when she ran into MarvMau’s bedroom quite some episodes ago, but the moment was ruined by Anifer. A virgen would have hesitated and told MariMau that it would be her first time....at least that is the norm in the TNs I’ve seen. Oh but wait, this TN is breaking all kinds of molds...Lili was quite in a hurry, though she did mention it would be her first time.

Diana, I didn’t known about your aneurysm. I’m so glad you had the will and strength to overcome. I agree with JudyB; if Renée had half your strength and will, she’d have her life in order, including a life with the man she supposedly luuurves.

In regards to the cold shoulder tops, no one wears those better than Esmeralda Pimentel.

Correcting myself: Esmeralda wears off shoulder tops, but she’d still look better than anyone in those cold shoulder tops.

Maria is not end game because she's not shown in the opening credits. Lili and Baldo are not shown when they show all the families grouped together.

RgvChick, ITA that Renée is no virgin but then neither is Mauricio . . .

I'm a bit confused with the musical houses game in this TN. Is Toño still staying with R&R?
Renée was staying at Mau's house, sleeping in Anifer's room to begin with, but is now sleeping with Mau, I think. And Maria in Anifer's room or elsewhere. (Maybe they added a room for her.)

OK, assuming Renée is sleeping with Mauricio, and considering their chemistry together... yep, still a virgin.

Kirby, this TN is making me realize just how not into fashion I am. I find those cold shoulder tops ridiculous, and Fabián's pegged dress pants and no socks ludicrous.

andy

OK Andy, I am a dinosaur and happily admit it, but if I lived in the Tropics, and the only place I had to store a sweater was wrapped around my neck I would just burn it instead and buy another when the weather got below 95 again.

Yup, SLEEPING with him ...................literally..............really .......................sleeping..

When those cold shoulder tops started appearing I thought the girl had a medical situation and preferred not to miss work. But soon realized there would have to be a pandemic so I was wrong.

It's a look.

Susanlynn, wearing a cold shoulder top, pegged high waters, and sans socks 🙋👚👖#fashionpolice

Diana - a brain aneurysm is deadly serious. You are a miracle!

I'm revising my prediction about Lili's baby. The further the story develops, I just cannot see Lili & Pablo giving R&R the baby to adopt and raise. Both families are just too close, geographically. Nope. My newest CrackpotTheory™ is that Lili will suffer a miscarriage (#telenovelatrope), thus freeing up her and Pablo from parenthood , while R&R find the baby of an unknown person to adopt.

Kirby - ITA about Renee's panties not bursting into flames. (LOL!!!) They act more like Ma & Pa Kettle.

Vero seems to be wavering on the divorce issue. She realizes that she has too much invested in her marriage and she will likely decide to stay married. It was mighty adult of her to admit Toño is a better cook and better with the kids than she is.

Telenovela Rules do not permit a protagonist to kill anyone (with some rare exceptions), so it would have to be María, and not Renee, if one of them is going to take out Noel, Fab, or both.

You're right Doris, there have been a lot of miscarriages in these unfortunate pregnancy stories. And these telenovelas do often champion adoption from orphanages. We can but hope.

Maybe if she is not allowed to kill him, then a GRIZZLY mutilation that he survives. :-)

Three years Diana. Congratulations and don't do it again, OK?. And to celebrate here is one of your favorite birds showing off some pizzaz to some dowdy old grey geese.

Like "Hey goose, if you had these you'd walk around like this too. They don't have pink in Canada? Pfftt"

We were all tired of ole vanilla Kika already right?

Kirby....beautiful pink bird in singing "If i Were you ,I'd want to be me , too!"

Thanks
