"EL SENOR DE LOS CIELOS":

LXV: Looking forward to seeing this come back.

Lado #44

ok, here's a short summary,

Paula meets early with Cummings over Ernesto's behavior, they both agree they need to get rid of those 2 (Alondra and Alejandra), but not now Paula throws in, it's too close to the election.

Jen visits the Doc, slides over the recording of their night together, wants to schedule the operation, he's caught totally off guard, or she will send Leti, his wife, the video, there was some thing about how it can't happen in the U.S. without the mother's permission, but we don't hear how Jen has that figured, but we do hear that she would kill.

Lorena is back, Patrick nixes the $1,000,000 payoff to Sara, an alcoholic with a 40 year old story, Lore's not happy, Joel follows her.

Patrick watches the Ernesto/Cummings/Paula meeting, Cummings has 30 girls arriving at the port, he needs clearance plus passports, Paula will handle it, Ernesto is on board, while in another world Joel tells Lore he loves Sofia, she asks if he slept with her when she was gone, he... doesn't deny it, Lore goes home to pack.

Patrick shows Joel the tape, they need to find out where and when, and get the folder with the names of the girls and their info, Joel will go undercover, nope, that's why we have Sofia, Patrick says.

Ernesto got Sofia her own office, Alo drops by, did you send me this text message, Sofia slides out of it, I didn't ever know your mother, Ernesto shows after the meeting, Alo says she will move in with him, but not until Saturday, he remembers it's her 18th birthday, and plans a gala.

Julian asks Margarita the housekeeper about his mom.

Raquel has been deported to Tijuana (closer than El Salvador), Carmen will go stay with her.

dinner at Eliza's, Alo announces she will be leaving, but they had a party planned, she invites them all to come (everyone learning of Karina and Julian would be worth watching), but Eliza puts her foot down, no one will set foot in that house, even Rod is overruled.

Paula and Cummings have cocktails at the red velvet lounge (as Kat calls it), Paula tells the story of Ernesto's first marriage, both 25, he and Paula with ambitions, Claudia , well she just lacked pizzaz, and was going to the press with Ernesto's infidelity, with who? Cummings looks at Paula and gets it.

Ernesto has Alejandro out for dinner and drinks, and moves in closer, she pries his hand off her arm...

Enemigo

Puma gets Roxy a new cell phone, she calls her papa with the news, he'll send another helicopter, nope, the door is almost open she says, but the Feds and Oscuros will be waiting for me to lead them to you, be ready.

Luis grabs Mendiola and takes him out to the sticks, who agrees to have Roxy and Tilapia out within 48 hours, Luis drive off.

Roxy gives Zoraida the ok to take out Guillotina, it's in the works, she told him Roxy would meet him in the library and her girls are waiting for him, Roxy wants to be the last person he sees.

Roxy drifts into the Library, ut oh, only Guillotina is there, Zoraida told him everything, he gives her a gift before he kills her, he tells of killing her parents and delivering her to Nemesio, but wait Tilapia followed them in and has a knife too, fight, Tilapia gets the drop on him and, from the Ferrer Family (I wonder if Roxy heard this), slashes his throat, the Library guy shows, Roxy pleads self defense, he lets them go, but wait Guillotina is still alive.

sloppy job I think for a trained killer but wait, when Alex gave Tilapia the knife, told him to sink it into Guillotina's throat, but not kill him, Alex would finish it, right?

Fang vows revenge.

Alex and David are off to ?? when Alex worries about Puenzo, they'll swing by and check on him, David calls for backup.

"LADO":

Deb: My personal thoughts:

1.) I KNEW Claudia (1st wife of Ernesto) got whacked by Paula & Co.,

2.) J-low becoming a killer suddenly ? How much powers does she have ? The Doc is going to be the fall guy.

3.) Alondra is still STUPID as she is moving into the hell-hole mansion. Karma will be waiting to sing when the expletive hits the fan.

4.) Sofia prying Ernesto's hand off her arm. I'm wondering if he has someone take that glass over to the DNA lab.

5.) Whatever happened to the DNA Lady ? Last time we saw her was when Joel helped her out.

6.) Eliza putting her foot down in NOT wanting her kids to set foot in Ernesto's mansion.

7.) Does Eliza know about Julian & Karina yet ? When she does......

"ENEMIGO":

Deb: I doubt Puenzo's wife will make it alive.

HALIMACANDY: Guillotina still alive somehow. I'm not shocked he confessed to whacking Roxana's parents. Big question is whether she goes after Nemesio ?

Spanish Student: Previews show Roxana pointing a gun at Tilapia meaning she finds out he's in the Mexican Federal Police Force.

Lado

deb, thanks VERY much for your concise and complete recap. I can't think of anything you missed.

I wonder whether Eliza will back down about the kids attending the party for Alondra at Ernesto's. She seemed very determined that no one will set foot in that house, but as you note ["(everyone learning of Karina and Julian would be worth watching)"], the dramatic possibilities are so tempting....

The plot continues to thicken. I think I recall that at the end of the episode, as Paula is telling Cummings about what happened with Claudia, Ernesto's first wife, Cummings asks whether Ernesto helped get rid of her. I don't remember whether Paula replied. It's clear that Cummings doesn't trust Ernesto. I wonder how long it will take Ernesto to recognize this, and what if anything might result from that recognition.

Lado

thanks Juanita, yes, it was clear from the meeting that Paula and Cummings run the business, Ernesto is in it to further his political ambitions and tends to look away at what they are doing, it's like he explained to Sofia way back when that he uses the bad guys to get into a position where he can do great things, (really?), and when Alejandra was throwing in how famous he could become by truly helping the immigrants he really warmed up.

it threw me that Paula was asking Cummings for advice, but it did show how powerful he was, instead of using him to help Ernesto, it seemed to be the other way around.

oh and who is on the sending end of the girls?, Vincentito.

Lado

I call it the Red Velvet Bar, actually.

"LADO":

Deb: We both know Ernesto's main goal remains the same: becoming President of Mexico. He's just using the Mexican Consulate General in Los Angeles as a stepping stone for also lining up his pockets of $$$$.

5th Latina: Not shocked Carmen has chosen to be with Raquel.

"LADO":

Juanita: Ernesto AKA "BPN 2.0" whacked Claudia in all likelihood.

Sofia dodged a BIGLY bullet. However, her reputation was damaged with the human trafficking, Irene's assassination, etc.,

Steve, your comment has nothing to do with what I said and the last time you addressed me, you said:

"La Diva: You're bordering on the line on making me pull a Kim Jae-gyu & go NUTS on you!

It'll be a repeat of the 10.26 Incident!"

Don't say another word to me unless it's to apologize for threatening to kill me.

*This Wikipedia article explains what Steve's referring to as the 10.26 incident.

Now watch, an Anonymous commenter's going to come crawling out of the woodwork to defend poor Steve and tell me what a big meanie I am.

Lado:

Deb, thank you for a great recap. I admire the fact that you are able to summarize an entire episode in a few sentences without leaving anything important out.

This doctor better not cede to this crazy nutcase's blackmail. Having marital troubles is way less devastating than losing your license, fighting a multi-million lawsuit and ending up in prison for the rest of your life if something goes wrong (and for a long time even if nothing goes wrong).
If I understand correctly, he is the only specialist that performs this kind of surgery, and it is still in the trial phase, so all he has to do is call her bluff and say go ahead, tell my wife and your son never gets the experimental procedure that no one but me can perform.

Patrick was right when he said that Sara's testimony is not going to be credible, but he is wrong as to the cause : it is not going to be credible because a huge sum was paid to obtain it, not because Sara is a long-time alcoholic. Her alcoholism is actually understandable and can even serve to corroborate her testimony. Also, Texas does not have a statute of limitation regarding sexual assault of a child.
However, all Cummings' defense attorney has to do to cast a very serious doubt on her testimony is to mention the payment of a million dollars. This is what can really tank the case. Also, one testimony from 40 years ago is probably not going to be enough to convict. They will need to dig deeper and find more children to have a chance of conviction.

Irene

Lado

Deb, you rock! Two recaps in one night! Thanks so much for the excellent recap on Lado. I'm sure the Enemigo one was equally good, although I'm only watching the one novela.

I definitely got the impression that Paula managed to get rid of Claudia, Ernesto's first wife. It was SO awful and calculating. Her voice dripping with scorn, she described how Claudia just wasn't up to HER first-lady standards. That was probably part of it. I got the impression Ernesto fell in love with a simple, probably kindly woman that might not have had the social graces and outstanding beauty Paula thought she should have. And she wasn't prepared to accept his sexual relationship with Paula and might have made a big stink. I'm not sure how the mental illness played into it. Paula is perfectly capable of having seen to it that some drug was administered to cause odd behavior.

A really awful fate has to be in store for Paula. I can't even fathom how a woman could so coldly agree to prepare the documentation to "legalize" the entrance into the United States of sex slaves, and underage ones at that.

I'm confused. Does Karina know who Julián really is? And is that why she's so eager to attend Alo's birthday bash? I guess I don't remember him actually saying whose son he was. And I thought that, if she knew, she'd have said something to Alo about "tutoring" her half brother. And Alo threatened Julián about going after Karina.

Carmen is my hero. She's going back to Mexico to help Raquel. And would they really deport a woman and leave her still nursing infant in the US?

Does Julián know who Raquel is? That me messed up the lives of people very close to Karina?

It's not clear how J-Low plans to get this donation to take place. Of course, of all the awful things that female villains have done in telenovelas, at least this plot involves, presumably, both Charlie and Rodrigo surviving.

Joel, as usual, behaves like a cad. He breaks the news to Lorena IN THE INTERPOL OFFICE! And he tears the Band-Aid right off, blunting telling her he's in love with Sofía. And he doesn't even disagree with her statement that he's sleeping with the woman who killed his sister. Gah!

Enemigo:

Deb, thank you for the recap.

This telenovela is certainly not boring, but still requires a beanie to ignore the stupidity of the characters.

Puenzo could have just done nothing in the previous episode, Alex would have been dead, and he would have had a chance to save his family(although I doubt Buitre is the kind of guy to leave witnesses alive), but for some unknown reason he prevented Alex's death and now has to do the job himself, putting his family in a much bigger risk.
Maybe he likes Alex and just couldn't be responsible for his death, but why didn't he tell him what is going on with his family?

If Daniel botched Guillotina's killing on purpose, he is really not that bright. The moment Guillotina wakes up and is able to communicate, he and Roxana are going to be dead men walking.
Also, he must be extremely well trained (and I mean James Bond level training) to be able to stab someone in the throat without severing the carotid or the jugular or damaging the larynx.

Irene

Lado

That HE messed up the lives...

Lado,

novelera, I think Julian knows that Raquel is a friend of Karina, but has left it to his dad to make that right, after all he took Karina and Carmen + baby to the police station, but didn't go in, of course now he is grounded for a week, or else he loses his credit cards and financial support, are we sure he is not Max's son?

I don't think Karina knows who Julian is, she and Alo are close, I'm thinking she just wanted to be there for Alo's 18th birthday.

I'm waiting to see how Claudia's death plays out, but I'm thinking along the lines of Juanita, that Ernesto, fed by his ambitions, was unknowingly tricked into pulling the plug.

I noticed that Lore and Joel had their breakup in Richard's office.

Irene, you should consider working for the writers as a consultant.

"LADO":

Deb: Let's see how far J-Low goes with her sinister schemes into getting what she wants. Once she's done with Rodrigo, it's back to Eliza's house he goes.

Irene: I agree with Deb here on you should seriously consider working for Telemundo as a Consultant in the PR Department.

"ENEMIGO":

Irene: Puenzo's wife & kids are likely NOT going to make it anyway.

Lado:

Novelera, you are spot on regarding Joel. He does behave like a cad. And I don't know what's worse, the fact that he keeps bedding Sophia even though he thinks that she murdered his sister or the fact that he is so monumentally dumb that he after all the evidence he is privy to (Cummings being the big boss and a serial child rapist; Paulas and Pastrana scheming to have Sophia killed; the conversations in Ernesto's office and so much more, not to mention Sophia's words) he still thinks that Sophia is guilty. And Sophia is no better, one moment she says to him that he is the origin of all of her problems (which is true) and the other she makes sweet love to him again, even though he still doesn't believe in her innocence and hasn't uttered a word of apology regarding all he put her through.

Deb, I am not sure Ernesto had anything to do with Claudia's death, because every time Paula guilted him into doing something too horrible even for a horrible bastard like him, she never mentioned their complicity in Claudia's death. Since she threw in his face every single crime they were complicit in, I am inclined to think Claudia's death was solely Paula's initiative.

Irene

P.S: Deb, I would gladly volunteer my services to Telemundo. I would pay for my own airfare and expenses and even save them the trouble of casting a girlfriend for Andres ;)

Lado:

I probably shouldn't overanalyze and this is just a telenovela, but it is impossible to deport someone to a country of which he is not a national. Countries are sovereign and deporting a Salvadorian national to Mexico undermines both the sovereignty of Mexico and the sovereignty of San Salvador.

Not to mention the fact that Raquel was arrested because she is a suspect in a criminal investigation and, therefore, no one would deport her before this criminal investigation is completed. Deporting a suspected criminal before trial is absurd, it's gifting him a way to escape paying for his crime. Criminals would, of course, rather be deported than stand trial and that's why they are deported, but only after standing trial and serving their sentence, if convicted.

Irene

Lado

Irene, you are the voice of wisdom! Of course it's silly Raquel got deported to Mexico.

And...if they are casting a girlfriend for Andrés, I might have a quickie facelift and give you a run for your money!

"LADO":

Novelera: At least Carmen will be there for Raquel in Mexico.

What's this I've been hearing about someone being casts as Andres' girlfriend ? I'm assuming that the producers of this TN are going to let Steven & DEADBEAT Max battle it out for Eliza.

Irene: Let's not forget that Cummings was the Sheriff of Bexar County for several years.

Al otro lado del muro - Capítulo 45 - 1/2

After we again see Ernesto coming on to Alejandra while they're having dinner at a restaurant, the scene shifts to Ernesto's house. Julián asks Margarita about his mother. She tells him she doesn't know much. His mother became mentally ill, and then she died. Julián presses her for more: wasn't there a diagnosis, didn't the doctor say anything? Margarita claims she doesn't know, she just works in the house. But you find out about everything, Julián responds. Margarita seems very uneasy. She finally tells Julián, "It's better to let the dead rest rather than bothering them with pointless questions. (con preguntas que no vienen al caso).

Paula and Cummings talk about Ernesto. She explains that she dealt with Ernesto's first wife and with Sofía, and she's ready to neutralize any threat posed by Alejandra or Alondra. With Ernesto's first wife, she had help from drugs that acted slowly and left no trace. Cummings seems pleased and asks how he can help. "I need drugs," she replies. "In the United States, drugs are very restricted, but I'm hoping you can provide them (proporcionármelos). He asks what she needs. She takes out a notebook and pen and starts writing.

At J-Lowest's, Charlie reminds Max to tell J-L about the planned trip with Rod to Universal Studios this coming weekend. Max tells him he has to go to Tijuana this weekend [do we know why?], but he promises to take the boys to Universal Studios the following weekend. J-L says she can take them this weekend, assuming Eliza lets Rod go.

Alejandra tries to discourage Ernesto's coming on to her by reminding him that she's a married woman who loves her husband. Ernesto says he can believe that her husband is madly in love with her, but she doesn't feel that way toward him. "I think you're playing a role," says Ernesto. "You're pretending." Just then, Richard calls and tells her to meet him at Patrick's office in 20 minutes. She tells Ernesto she's sorry, but she has to leave. Her husband was a bit annoyed. "Keep playing a role," says Ernesto. She leaves. He looks triumphant, and orders another full bottle and more champagne.

J-Lowest calls Eliza to ask whether Rod can go with Charlie and her to Universal Studios. Eliza is at first reluctant, but J-L plays the It's-Important-to-Charlie card, and Eliza finally agrees. Rodrigo is ecstatic. Charlie seems more subdued. "I thought it would be a men's weekend," he tells J-L.

Santiago talks to Rachel by phone. He's very upset. Andrés agrees that the situation is unfair, but he urges Santiago to look ahead and not give up hope.

Patrick, Richard, Joel, and Sofía are discussing their priorities. The main one is to nail Cummings. To do that, they'll need the files containing information about the 30 "bottles of young tequila" who will soon arrive in California. Ernesto has the files under lock and key in his office. They need to get a copy of the key. Sofía says she will try to get it. They then discuss Sara Foster, and all agree that that's a dead end. Suddenly, Lorena enters the office. She still wants to be part of the team. Joel objects, but Patrick overrules him. We're all professionals here, says Patrick. Let's get to work.

Eliza and Max are in a tent (inside their new house?). She feels her family is falling apart. Alo is going to live with Ernesto, Carmen is returning to Mexico, Karina has some cockamamie plans. Max tells her, "I'm your family, and nothing will separate me from you." He gives her a bouquet of roses and then says he has one more surprise for her. He gives her a box of chocolate-covered cherries. Buried in the box is a ring. He asks her to accept it as proof of his love and commitment and his wish that they will be a family again and no one will separate them.

Lado - Cap. 45 - Parte 2/2

Johnny and a rather unhappy looking Frida are playing the demo tape for Mark. Mark loves it. He tells Frida, "You don't know how lucky you are that Johnny is interested in you." Johnny modestly adds, "Do you know how many chicas would like to be in your position? But I chose you, my love." They can start publicizing the recording as soon as they have a name for the album. "Fri," says Frida. Johnny like it: "Fri for Frida, Free for libre." Rubber-stamp Mark agrees.

A drunken Ernesto takes a photo of Alejandra, Alondra, and him taken at the exhibit and puts it in a silver frame.

Alejandra, meanwhile, remembers makng love with Joel.

Joel returns to his apartment. Lorena isn't there but has left a note on the table saying they're finished, but he owes it to his sister to listen to the video of the woman you claim you love, the assassin of your sister. The video, which he has probably watched any number of times, shows the interrogation of Sofía where she says she was the head of the human trafficking network and admits that she killed the pregnant Irene. She insists no one is threatening her. Joel remembers Sofía and he agreeing that sleeping together was the biggest mistake of their lives, followed immediately by their sleeping together again.

Lorena tells Richard that it's over between Joel and her. She explains that while Richard was in Washington and she was in Texas, Joel slept with Sofía and has told Lorena that he's in love with Sofía. Not knowing Richard's feelings, she tells him, "For you it's easy--your marriage was just part of the program. But my relationship with Joel was real. I was planning to marry him, and I'm hurt that he threw me over for Sofía." She claims she's telling him this not out of gossip or bitterness, but simply because he's the head of the operation and so he should be in the loop. Richard tells her he can't take Sofía out of the operation now. Her role is vital. Lorena asks to be part of that operation, perhaps as part of the staff. She claims that Sofía will be preoccupied with Alondra, whereas she (Lorena) can act with a cool head. Richard agrees to get Lorena into the party.

In Texas, Sara Foster tells the bartender that she has just sold her story for $1 million. He doesn't believe her. She offers to give him a cut.

Richard et al. watch as Sofía makes an impression of the key they need to get the files.

We see Paula and a man looking over the files, while Ernesto paces uneasily. I would assume the man is Cummings, but the back of his head (which is all we see) looks bald. Pastrana?

On Alondra's 18th birthday, Eliza and her family gather round and sing happy birthday. Eliza gives her a cake with candles. Alo blows out all the candles. Eliza says she hopes that Alo enjoys her party today, but that next year they will all celebrate together again here, because this is her home.

In Tijuana, Carmen tries to cheer up a despondent Rachel.

A car and driver come to take Alo to Ernesto's. The driver seems to look with dismay or disdain at Eliza's family, and perhaps at Alo as well.

Paula is on the phone with Ernesto when Margarita comes to tell her the party planner has arrived. Show her in, says Paula. In walks a very business-like Lorena.

"LADO":

Juanita: Bold Prediction: Lorena will sabotage the mission & rat out Sofia because Lorena is so damn jealous!

1.) Eliza's family look sad when Alondra left them for good.

2.) Expect Alondra to become EVIL since Ernesto has successfully brainwashed her.

3.) Eliza & Deadbeat Max: Fast Forward!

4.) J-Low is plotting something EVIL for Rodrigo here. The previews for tonight foreshadowing something terrible.

The way she gave that cold stare...

5.) How long before Paula finds out about Sara Foster & sends Pastrana to get rid of the problem ?

Steve, just a reminder that the long-standing policy of CarayCaray's Telemundo pages is that we do NOT discuss trailers, previews, or other information about the novela that is not contained in an already-aired episode. That prohibition includes previews of the coming episode. I might add that as often as not, the previews deliberately seek to mislead. But whether they are accurate or not, the policy of the Telemundo pages is that we do not mention the previews.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Wow, Juanita! I really enjoyed your well-written recap. Especially liked “Rubber Stamp Mark”. Yep, the plot thickens on so many fronts.

When Jennifer gets excited about something she still reminds me of one of the Brides of Dracula, with that avid, glittery eyed look. Charlie definitely would have preferred the Universal Studios trip with his father. Max treats Charlie like a boy, despite his illness. His mother hovers and probably makes him feel doomed with her every action.

Like most skilled politicians, Ernesto is intuitive. He has smelled out that “Alejandra” and Richard’s marriage is not the passionate thing it might be.

Well, I looked up our friend Andrés. Don’t think this comment is a bad thing and would break the Caray rule about gossip. His name is Uriel del Toro (kind of fitting, eh!). And he began as a male model. He is also a musician, although I didn’t find much about whether he plays an instrument, sings, or both. He’s definitely lead actor material, in my opinion. And doesn’t he look adorable with that baby? I know it’s a cliché that women can’t resist a man with a baby, but…

Santiago is not the strong person his father is. He apparently already screwed up with a brush with the law. [Even though I think this was a plot development gambit to keep him from being with his wife in her exile.] And he seemed to just be making Raquel feel worse when they speak on the phone.

It certainly seems to me like Johnny has a thing for Frida. He doesn’t seem ready to bed her and discard her as quickly as he might have done others. Although I wonder how he can feel that way; she certainly looks disgusted when he puts the moves on her.

Lorena is very worrisome. She says she’s going to be “professional” about their breakup, but she left that video out of spite, in my opinion. Now, the writers made Joel look pensive, but IIRC Sofía ALREADY explained that she confessed because Paula had threatened her with sending Alondra to the pedophiles. So why would he now be believing that she killed his sister. Just makes him a jerk, in my opinion.

Juanita, I believe you said that Lorena didn't know about Richard's feelings. For some reason I think she did and wants to pull off the classic scorned pair uniting for revenge. I'm not sure if I remember correctly, but she seemed to be saying something critical of Sofía to him, which is counter to what she said about being a "team player"

Lado

Thanks so much, novelera, for your extremely interesting and perceptive comments. Yes, Jennifer's "avid, glittery-eyed look" is really scary. I think she might even frighten the other Brides of Dracula. :-).

I too have been confused by Joel's confusion. As you point out, Sofía DID already explain to Joel why she confessed. His continuing confusion does make him seem like a jerk, though perhaps the real jerks are the novela writers who can't remember what they've already written.

I don't remember Lorena already knowing about Richard's feelings, but you could well be correct. Perhaps we'll find out, or perhaps the writers will forget about this as well. :-)

As I was watching the episode last night, I saw an ad for Universal Studies. Cynical me wonders whether there's a connection between the ad and the boys' enthusiasm to go there in the novela.

Lado

So, do we think Paula plans those pills she's getting from Scumbag Irving for Alejandra/Sofía or Alondra, or both? Alondra will be living in Ernesto's house and under the same roof as Paula, so she would be the more likely candidate. And Paula would be happy to harm the girl because a) she's a sociopath and b) Alondra has treated her like something she scraped off her shoe. Not sure how she could get Alejandra/Sofía to ingest something at the consulate.

Lado:

Juanita, thank you for yet another amazingly detailed recap.
I admire your ability to find exactly the right words to portray the situations seen on screen.

I especially loved the following phrases:"Carmen tries to cheer up a despondent Rachel" and "The driver seems to look with dismay or disdain at Eliza's family, and perhaps at Alo as well". And, of course, I second Novelera regarding “Rubber Stamp Mark”.

If I start watching a telenovela, I generally make huge efforts to watch it until the (bitter) end, but I must admit that the couples in this one are so unappealing (if not outright nauseating) that I find it harder and harder to tune in.

I simply can't stand that Max, and Eliza turned to be the weakest, most pliable and easily manipulated character in this telenovela. After Max's disgusting behavior with Andres and with Steve, not to mention his jealous rants to Eliza herself, I wouldn't touch him with a stick. But Eliza immediately forgot everything, and is behaving as if nothing happened, more in love with that douchebag than ever. Even her initial reluctance to be with Max because of his marriage to Jennifer is gone and she is now happy to bed him whenever he wants to. She really has no dignity and at this point I feel like she doesn't deserve Andres.

Novelera, you read my mind regarding Andres. Him with that adorable baby was the cutest, most adorable thing ever shown in a telenovela and I am going to fight you tooth and nail for the role of his girlfriend at that casting.

Max going to Tijuana instead of helping his dying son to fulfill a wish from his bucket list is extremely suspicious. Maybe the Tijuana excuse is true and he is involved in some horrible criminal activity that neither Jennifer nor Eliza know about (maybe he is shipping the botellitas for Ernesto?)? It would be just too terrible even for him to blow off his dying son for a quiet weekend of canoodling with Eliza.

And Joel is just the dumbest law enforcement agent on the planet. Sophia killing Irene only works if Sophia was the head of the child trafficking network because Sophia told in her testimony that she killed Irene because she found out that she was the head of the child trafficking network.Joel now knows thaw Sophia is definitely not the head of the child trafficking network. He knows that Paula ordered a hit on Sophia, heard every incriminating conversation in Ernesto's office and, most important, he now knows that the person whose (too absurd to be believed in the first place) testimony incriminated Sophia is deeply involved in child trafficking and is a serial rapist himself. And then there is Sophia's perfectly believable explanation that she confessed because she feared for her daughter. And he should remember that she confessed only after pleading with him to protect her daughter, which he failed to do.

When it was revealed that Ernie's 1st wife died at home and refused to go to the hospital...foul play was the 1st thing to come to mind. When it was revealed that she died of mental illness, it made me wonder.....was it induced mental illness. So...when Paula revealed the truth ...wasn't surprised.

Paula soliciting more drugs so she can do this Alo or Ale...not surprised...but she'll have hell to pay if Ernie finds out. So this makes me thinks he was not involved with the demise of is 1st wife. Because if he was, as soon as Alo or Ale start to fade, he should become suspicious and step in a do something. After all, these are his 2 favorite girls and he wouldn't want to loose them. And while he is a criminal and complicit in the illegal activities of others, he does not appear to be a violent man. He has no compassion for people outside of his circle... but he doesn't seem to be cruel for the sake of being cruel.

Halimacandy, thank you for your humorous recap. I loved your "Vulture is all talk and a COWARD, HE ALMOST PISSED HIS DRAWERS when the Feds showed up…" and " HE WAS LIKE A [PERVERTED] MADRE to us all…...".

I don't understand why Vulture needs Puenzo at all to kill Alex. He could have easily killed Alex instead of killing Marimar. All he had to do was wait until Alex leaves Marimar's apartment and then spray him with bullets like they did to Marimar. Or he could have done it the many other times he was walking/ driving alone without any protection.

The cops should have sealed all the exits to that store, it is a standard procedure in a stand-off, but view Alex's abysmally bad luck in catching Luis and Buitre so far, I had no doubt that they both would escape.

Irene

Novelera: You & I both know Frida will eventually sleep with Johnny. Tomas should move on & focus on other girls because Los Angeles, CA has plenty of them.

Lado

Uh, Steve, I'm pretty sure Frida already did the deed with Johnny - twice!

Lado

Muchas gracias, Irene, for your appreciative remarks and interesting comments. I love the fact that you take the time to cite specific aspects of the recap (and they're often things that I like, too! :-) ).

I suspect that if some man treated me the way Max treated Eliza, marrying another woman and essentially abandoning Eliza without a word for ten years, I would be very bitter and unforgiving. But I nonetheless admire and respect Eliza, and perhaps for that reason I accept her love for Max. I keep thinking of the famous saying "The heart has its reasons, which reason cannot know." I doubt that Eliza will wind up with Max at the novela's end, and I'm happy about that (Andrés is an infinitely better person that Max...and better looking, too!). But the actress who plays Eliza has made me believe in her choices. I realize you don't agree. I'm not trying to convince you to change your mind; I'm just trying to explain (to you, and perhaps to myself as well) why I feel differently.

Lado

Great comments, Nett, especially what you say about Ernesto.

LADO

What happened between Johnny and Frida was rape.

And how can it be "impossible" to deport someone to a country that's not their own if US citizens can get deported from the US? Stop being complacent! ICE is the gestapo!

Lado

I have not understood the detailed dialogue around the deportation. Is Mexico a stopping point on the way to El Salvador? Does Mexico have an agreement to take those deported from other Latin Countries? Did Raquel ask to go to Mexico because it's close and the home of her husband? I don't know the law...but I too am perplexed as to why she's in Mexico. If this was explained I missed it.

Juanita, I was unable to watch last night and am now just catching up. (btw, random segments at telemundo.com have subtitles in english)

wonderful recap! thank you so very much.

and great comments all!

I was thrown a curve when Max agrees to take the kids to the amusement park, then seems to have no intention of going, what? but Irene's comment "maybe he is shipping the botellitas for Ernesto?" wow, his business is import/export.

it's hard for me to hate Ernesto, Gabriel Porras does him so well, and so he changed out the family pic on his office desk of him/Sofia/Alo with a similar one of him/Alejandra/Alo, ha!, wait till Paula sees it.

Lado

They never said why Max was going to Tijuana exactly. I vaguely remember some mention of business. I was thinking perhaps he was going there to get documentation of his marriage to Eliza, although she lived in Puebla, not Tijuana. Someone here, probably Irene, said it could be difficult to prove your legal marriage in another country. It's also remotely possible he could have been trying to do something... for Raquel to surprise Eliza.

Or maybe the writers don't give a rat's patootie about his reason for going. Only that moving the plot requires that Jennifer gets her hands on both Charlie and Rodrigo for the weekend.

LADO

Lado

It may not make legal sense, but clearly Raquel is in Tijuana so we can see her 'en el otro lado de muro'. I hope the speculations about what Max could be doing are wrong...always thought he was too weak and selfish for that type of work. If so, I can certainly see Max dead, Jen in jail, and Charlie surviving and living with Eliza and Andres. I really hope we get to see Jen suffer sooner rather than later.

Seeing Senator Cummings with his granddaughter was weird. And the characters that form the love triangle (Sofia, Joel, y Lorena) are ridiculously developed to the point of pure stupidity. Or maybe It was intended to be some kind of spoof/comedy and my perspective is wrong. Either way its a disaster waiting to happen. I just hope Pastrana doesn't see Lorena at Ernesto's.

Spanish Student

Lado

I see Ernesto is picking up where he left off, turning Alo into a girl, nice designer dress for her birthday, Paula sure thought it was special.

and I guess Paula got her meds as she was playing with the pills at the start when Lore arrived as the party planner.

I'm glad Karina showed.

Max did tell Eliza tonight he was going to Tijuana for business, that's why he would be staying overnight.

"LADO":

Spanish Student: Pastrana will see Lorena at the party & get rid of the problem.

Tick-Tock!

Deb: I see that Charles called Deadbeat Max on what J-Low is plotting something EVIL against Rodrigo.

Karina showed up to the party! Does Eliza know that her daughter is seeing Julian ?

"ENEMIGO":

HALIMACANDY: Looks like Roxana found out Tilapia is law enforcement. She forces him to kill several of his law enforcement colleagues including Luna.

Don't count on J-Low getting her anvil this early.

She's going to up the ante even further!

Lado

Jennifer was at her J-Lowest last night. I had a feeling Charlie was going to resist this plan of hers. The moral compass of this child must have skipped a generation from his bio parents.

That nose on Joel last night was hilarious. And the whole Interpol plot for having Sofía risk, really, her actual life snooping through Ernesto's home office was pretty dumb. I also don't understand why they need the folder with the girls' pictures so badly. I thought they knew when they were scheduled to arrive. Couldn't they just pounce then?

I loved Alo's goth arrival. Paula tried to bully her into changing into the demure pink dress. Alo doesn't put up with that. Paula better not spend any time near a soccer net or ...

Rodrigo is an amazing kid. He's clearly nervous, and the surroundings are apparently sub-par, but he overrides Charlie's objections, determined to save his brother.

So Lorena is a professional? She did absolutely nothing useful at the party. Her main objective was to spy on Sofía and Joel. I know it's a telenovela and jealous other women are stock characters. But I can't remember one where the one having the hissy fits was a trained agent of Interpol.

Lado

I think someone said they had checked with the port but so far there is no request for a diplomatic shipment, and so they still don't know the where and when, Cummings, who is Lore's target (or supposed to be) gave Paula the paperwork for that (shouldn't it have been the other way around) that she put it in her briefcase that Joel is after.

also Paula said they didn't have the passports yet but would have them tomorrow.

and as said earlier they can't use any evidence from the hidden camera since it was planted illegally.

General

I guess the award show tonight will be at the Mandalay hotel in Las Vegas, the same hotel used by that shooter.

Deb, Wow! There might be more cops at the show than Billboard performers!

Enemigo #46

uff!

Tilapia and Roxy are finally out, the slick lawyer blocked the wardens attempt to hold Tilapia as a suspect in Bausers murder because he has no absolute proof and has not done the paperwork to hold him.

they leave in a car supplied by Alex, that can be tracked by the Fed's, and go to a motel of Roxy's choosing, that has been set up by the Mil Cumbres.

without Madre a new order is forming out of the chaos in prison, Puma takes out Zoraida, giving Zoraida's former girls each a stab at her.

Montalvo's son comes to Juarez chasing chat room Silvia, met by a hit squad (Luis's guys or Oscuros?) quickly dispatched by Alex, and scooped up, he talks, Alex and Puenzo put the bag on Montalvo in Miami.

Roxy and Tilapia make sweet love in their new freedom (I would have squeezed a good meal in there someplace) Roxy recovers a pistol from under the sink, points it at Tilapia's head, "who are you?"

Lado

deb, belated thanks for your comments about my recap.

novelera, I loved your "Jennifer was at her J-Lowest last night." Also at their lowest was the writers' creativity, unless they were aiming for pure farce. How else describe the absurd plan and behavior of the so-called Interpol agents? Doesn't Joel remember that he's used that poor excuse for a disguise before? Not only doesn't he remember that when he tries to forestall Ernesto, but a few minutes later, looking pretty much the same, he appears as part of the staff for the party. Yesterday, Irene called Joel "the dumbest law enforcement agent on the planet." After last night's episode, I think that's an understatement. And just a few steps behind him in stupidity is Lorena. I wonder whether Interpol can sue Telemundo for defamation.

Juanita, that's definitely an understatement about Joel. It would say that he has less brains than an amoeba, but that would be an insult to amoebas.

I almost keeled over from laughing at that twice used disguise, that ridiculous obviously synthetic jet black wig and that fake nose prosthesis. Surely the Interpol must have other trained agents that are not Joel with a fake nose to infiltrate that party. And not to forget that Ernesto already saw Joel (looking virtually the same) in a video kissing Sophia and he watched that video a countless amount of times.

Why, oh why, couldn't one or several of those trained agents be there instead of Joel. Hell, even using Patrick would have been a better idea. And why couldn't Richard be there, view that he has a perfectly valid cover as Alejandra's husband? And why must Joel declare his love to Sophia in the middle of a high-stakes extremely dangerous operation? Also, they must understand that the stakes are way higher due to the fact that the are actually illegally operating on the grounds of a Consulate, and the slightest mistake could trigger a major international incident

I am afraid that after this episode, the Interpol is going to receive a lot of applications from people with I.Q under 50.

Irene

Joel is dumber than a box of rocks, but that doctor is not far behind. The imminent transplant specialist caved when Jennifer threatened to send a sex video to the police! Since when does the police investigate marital infidelity? Though the United States is one of few industrialized countries to have laws criminalizing adultery(more than 20 States actually penalize adultery), prosecutions are virtually unheard of and California is, unsurprisingly, not one of those States. So his fear is totally unfounded.

Moreover,Jennifer's little threat of telling his wife is nothing compared to what he is going to lose if something goes wrong: his license, decades in jail and millions of dollars in damages.

And finally, this transplant is supposed to be an experimental procedure and he is the only one to perform it, so why would he cave to Jennifer's demands if all he has to do is say, go ahead, tell my wife, and your son is never getting that treatment(it's experimental, you know, and I am the one to decide who participates in the experiment).

Irene

Nett, of course Raquel the Salvadorian national couldn't have been deported to Mexico, for the simple reason that it would violate both Mexican sovereignty and the sovereignty of El Salvador. It's as absurd as U.S deporting a Mexican citizen to Canada or Mexico deporting a Canadian to the U.S. It doesn't get less absurd just because both El Salvador and Mexico are Spanish speaking countries.

And of course Raquel cannot decide where to be deported. If all illegal immigrants facing deportation could choose a country to which to be deported, I suspect half of America's illegal immigrants would have by now let America deport them to Spain, Canada, Sweden and Australia.

Irene

"ENEMIGO":

Deb: I had a feeling the bitter girls were going to retaliate against Zoraida at some point. Her getting whacked like that was NOT a big shock!

Spanish Student: Roxana is going to force Tilapia to kill several of his law enforcement colleagues.

Lado

Yesterday Patrick twice pointed out Ernesto's response to Cummings ...it was subtle but clear that Ernesto's heart isnt in the trafficking biz, and Cummings and Paula in charge. I wonder where the writers were going with this. Could Ernesto, down the line, be willing to work with them in order to save his own a&$, or maybe even his family? With both Vicento abd Cummings around now trouble will surely come to his front door.

Spanish Student

Lado

I don't feel that Ernesto's heart has ever been in the child trafficking business. Even before Sofía left him I saw signs of his discomfort with it. He certainly was not into actually bedding the little girls himself. But his ambition to be first Governor of Puebla and then President of Mexico was much larger than his conscience.

When Cummings was chortling over his being appointed consul in Los Angeles, Ernesto was very reluctant to use his position to line up victims.

But every time he's threatened with losing financial support for his grand ambition, he falls into line.

I can't imagine Ernesto cooperate with the police unless Alondra were threatened. And that could come to pass.
