Papa a Toda Madre #86/87 5.22.2018: Not Knowing When To Give Up, Get Dressed, or Tell The Truth

Or "Fired?! Again?!" God Bless Esperanza And Her Patience

Hey All! Slicing and Dicing Has Begun! :( Please find the recap for 86 below and Jarifa's summary for 87 in the comments. Thank you! :)

Dulce asks Jorge for some help because he’s making a lot of money at his new job, without doing much, but Jorge is sick of her and storms out of the house. He doesn’t realize, however, that he left one of the documents on the dining room table and Dulce gets her hands on it before inspecting the logo, looking for more information.

Renee goes to her house and tells Rafael and Rodrigo that her house is almost hers again but she’s now unsure of what to do: stay and rent it out to them or finally sell it. She has to also consider how expensive Maryland is going to be before making a final decision. They nod and then Rafael goes to answer the door for Ariel before they both leave as they have to go to do a seminar at the police station for parents who are adopting. Once alone with Renee, Ariel invites her out for the night because he’s going back to the US tomorrow. She wonders why he didn’t tell her before, but Ariel is silent.

As Tono walks his children out of the house to drop them off at school, Mauricio intercepts them and reminds him that it’s his turn to take them all to school. Tono thanks him and leaves Mauricio with a message for Maria to call him so they can talk about her job offer but makes it clear that she should talk to him before going in for the interview. Mauricio will give her his cell and she will call him; Tono thanks him and they all go off.

Renee wonders why Ariel is leaving so early, she hopes he could stay more, but Ariel has some things to deal with in the US. Renee confesses that she will miss him, but Ariel wants to know if she will, as a friend, or something else. Renee evades his answer by repeating she will miss him. Ariel hopes she finds Noel soon as well, and is sad he won’t be there for her, and Renee nods. She thinks Fabian must’ve told them the truth because there is no reason why he would be lying now. Ariel reminds her that, if he did, then Noel could be anywhere, so Renee decides to go to the police and report him as a missing person. Ariel tells her that his father is there to help her however he can, and Renee thanks him. She then invites her out again and Renee considers his offer.

In her suite, Kika consoles Jorge and wonders why he looks so down and out. Jorge confesses that he’s worried about his job, because they pay him too much for such a simple job, and Kika laughs because he must be the first person to complain about that. She tells him to save all the money he can with that job, right now, so that he has enough financial stability for the cooperative company later on. She then smiles and kisses him as he considers her words.

Mauricio arrives him and gives Maria Tono’s message and gives her his cell as well. She is happy to hear it and Mauricio tells her to visit him at the office, the sooner the better, and Maria wonders how she will find the office. Mauricio suggests she google it, but Maria is wary as she hasn’t had a formal job in so long. Mauricio tells her that she will be fine and then smiles. Maria still looks unconvinced.

Rodrigo and Rafael are checking under the hood of their car when they finally get it going. Just then, Dulce arrives and asks them for a ride to a company she wants to apply to because she needs a job, ASAP, and doesn’t want to use public transportation. She hands Rafael the address and they agree to take her. Dulce thinks they are the best, and now knows why everyone, including Kika, love them. They couldn’t be happier with Kika, who helped them with their adoption, but Dulce tries to prevent her face from contorting into pure disgust. She states that Kika seems to only be full of virtues and they smile before giving her the ride.

Renee and Ariel are in a park talking. She confesses that she has a lot of things to fix in her life before going to the US, like finding Noel and fixing her situation with Fabian, though she finally has resolved herself to losing Mauricio forever, since he and Maria are closer than ever. She confesses she will miss Anifer, but Ariel wants to know if she will miss him. Renee looks at him and tells him that she has to tell him her story first, the story of unlucky loves. Ariel is all for it and Renee smiles.

At Kika’s company, Charytin meets with all the employees and asks them to put the pedal to the metal before the boss, Kika, gets angry. As she sends everyone off to do their work, Dulce arrives with her resume and asks Charytin if there are any openings in the legal department. Charytin tells her there is not, and it’s the worse department because they work 24/7. Dulce is confused as she knows someone who works little and gets paid a lot so Charytin assumes it may be an employee of a subsidy of their company. Dulce notices her accent and wonders if she’s Colombian. Charytin explains that she’s Venezuelan but has lived in Miami for a lot of years. Dulce then asks who the owner of the company is and Charytin reveals that it’s her sister, Chiquinquira Braun, better known as Kika Braun. Dulce smiles because she knows exactly who Kika is but is shocked to learn her “acquaintance” works for none other than Kika Braun.

Mauricio goes to talk to Fabian’s doctor about his condition and the doctor confesses that there is a 90% chance that Fabian won’t walk again. Mauricio is shocked.

Renee tells Ariel everything about the men she dated: Alejandro, who she left at the altar; Lupe, who was so possessive, she dumped him in a heartbeat (I honestly forgot he even existed); and finally, Mauricio, the sweetest guy she dated, with the sweetest daughter, though everything between them is now over. Renee realizes, now, that her last relationships were out of fear or loneliness, and only Mauricio was a true relationship of equals. Ariel understands as he had plenty of relationships in the US out of loneliness. Renee hopes he now understands why she hasn’t accepted to be with him, formally, because she wants to love the next person she’s with and be with them for other reasons, not loneliness. Ariel hopes to be that man for her and gives her a kiss, which Renee accepts, and kisses him back.

Maria shows up at Tono’s job and asks Adelina if he can pass because he has an appointment with Tono. Adelina can’t find her appointment, and can’t let her pass, as Bustamante comes, shocked that Tono didn’t tell him she was coming to interview for a position on his team. Maria then asks if Veronica didn’t tell him, but Bustamante is surprised she knows Veronica too. Maria nods and tells him that they are both great people, but Bustamante looks unsure but welcomes her into his office either way. While Maria makes her way to the office, Bustamante wonders what is happening.

The doctor tells Mauricio that there is a possibility Fabian will walk again, but it’s very slim, and Fabian doesn’t have a clue. Mauricio is even more surprised.

Renee moves away from Ariel and reminds him that they will see each other every day and be classmates and she doesn’t think it’s a good idea that they get together right now. Ariel laughs off her comment and Renee is happy that he is able to make her laugh, even in the more complicated and serious situations. He makes it clear that he doesn’t want to force her into anything but is there for her whenever she’s ready. Renee nods but wants to wait until they get to the US, and then they can decide what they will do. After a pause, Renee grabs her things and walks away, leaving Ariel even more confused.

Mauricio goes to visit Fabian, who is happy that Renee convinced him to come, but Mauricio explains that he would’ve come anyway, because they grew up together and he hates that he’s ended up this way. Fabian nods and asks Mauricio to forgive him; Mauricio is surprised again.

Bustamante sits down with Maria and asks about her previous work experience. She explains that she worked with various public community labor groups against corporations and Bustamante thinks it’s an interesting resume, but maybe not what they are looking for, though he is curious to know how she found out about the job. Maria explains that both Veronica and Tono are her neighbors, but Bustamante is confused as Tono walks in, sees Maria, curses Mauricio, and smiles. Bustamante thinks he came just in time as he is almost done with his candidate, Maria. Tono cringes.

Fabian apologizes for all he did to Mauricio, Maria and Anifer but Mauricio is wary of his apology. Fabian confesses that he wants to appreciate his time on this Earth, instead of holding grudges, and Mauricio is happy to hear it, but warns Fabian that Mauricio is still going to report him, no matter what. Fabian’s eyes grow big.

Bustamante demands an explanation from Tono and Tono explains that Veronica lives close to their neighborhood and he asked Mauricio to tell Maria about their meeting but at home. Bustamante assumes it’s the same Mauricio who is Veronica’s husband and Maria is confused, so is Bustamante, and Tono tries to usher Maria out but Bustamante demands an explanation from Maria. Maria sits down and tells Bustamante that Veronica is her neighbor and she’s friends with the father of her child. Tono promises that, this time, he is going to break Mauricio’s neck.

Mauricio insists that Fabian pay for all the evil deeds he did but Fabian thinks all of his deeds led him to his family, so he should be happy. Mauricio can’t believe Fabian is so delusional, but Fabian is suddenly in pain and Mauricio tries to go get a doctor, but Fabian stops him and asks that he bring Maria to see him.

As Bustamante and Tono show Maria the way out, Veronica comes out of her office and greets everyone, shocked. Maria gets a call from Mauricio and steps away as Veronica asks Tono if his team is ready. Tono shakes his head and Veronica asks if the girl she just met came to interview for the position. Bustamante nods and is surprised Veronica doesn’t recognize the girl, who says they are neighbors. Veronica shakes her head and shrugs and Bustamante tells them to get to work, right now, and stop this foolishness. Veronica and Tono nod and Bustamante leaves. Once alone with veronica, Tono repeats that he is going to kill Mauricio.

Later, the doctor tells Mauricio that Fabian doesn’t seem as angry with him as he originally thought, especially because he wants to see him and Maria. Mauricio nods and the doctor reveals that there is a possibility for Fabian, if he would undergo surgery, but, since he might not survive, Mauricio and Renee, his sister, have to talk to Fabian so he can come to a conclusion.

Veronica and Tono meet in her office and Veronica hopes that Bustamante didn’t catch them. Tono doesn’t think he did but he doubts Bustamante would want to hire Maria, nor would Maria want to work with them, because the interview was a train wreck. Veronica thinks it might be a blessing in disguise then because Maria is dangerous to have in the office. Tono nods and begins to kiss her, as Veronica warns him to be careful, but Tono goes in for the kill and they start undressing themselves. Tono hopes they are fired for something that is worth it and they kiss before falling on top of the table. As Bustamante and the owner walk in, Tono throws his suit and tie to the ground. Bustamante picks I up and demands to know what is happening. Tono curses his luck again.

Maria and Mauricio comes to see Fabian, who apologizes to Maria for all he did. He explains that, because he doesn’t know what his life will be like from now on, or if he will get out of the hospital, he wants Maria to destroy all the proof against him and not report him to the police. Mauricio is shocked, and Maria looks at him for guidance.

Bustamante can’t believe Veronica and Tono could be so shameless and their boss agrees. Bustamante assumes they are lovers, and that she why Veronica pushed Tono to get the new department job, but Veronica and Tono reveal that they are married to each other, for years. The boss is confused so Veronica explains what happened at the dinner with their fake spouses and then show him a bunch of pictures of them and their kids, so they know they are telling the truth. Bustamante thinks things are worse then because they lied to everyone!

Maria thinks Fabian is talking crazy, but Fabian reminds them that his time on this earth is finite. He apologizes again and then asks Maria to think over his offer and find it in her heart to forgive him. Maria considers this.

Veronica and Tono sit down and explain how they came to get a job at the same company, without the other knowing, and why they hid the truth from everyone. They fill their boss with compliments and he wonders where they got the fake spouses from. Veronica explains that they were neighbors and friends and then they both thank Bustamante and the company and their boss for bringing them back together when they were going to get divorced. The boss smiles wide, stands up, and announces to Bustamante that he wants both Veronica and Tono out of the company, ASAP. They leave, and the spouses wonder what they will do now.

Outside Fabian’s room, Mauricio fills Maria in on Fabian’s crucial condition and she nods but wonders why he wants all the proof of his deeds destroyed when not reporting him to the police would be enough. Mauricio doesn’t know why but assumes Fabian thinks Maria won’t keep her word and report him later on. Either way, Mauricio believes that Fabian has changed but Maria does not, but the decision on what to do is up to her. Maria considers the best (and most “novela”) plan of action.

At school, Anifer explains to Tania and Ernesto about how she has two dads and how one puts the seed and another waters it. The children seem to understand, despite their young age.

Rafael and Rodrigo arrive home, happy that their classes went to so, when they run into Dulce, who asks them for a copy of the letter Kika wrote them, so she can compare logos as the company she went to today is likely owned by her. They show her the letter and Dulce sees that the logo is slightly similar and tell them that she needs a photo. They nod, and Dulce snaps her proof before thanking them.

In her office, Veronica and Tono are sad that they are now both jobless, again, but there was nothing they could’ve done, and their hands were tied. Just then, Bustamante walks back in and they both apologize to him for their actions, and try to get on his good side again, but Bustamante reiterates that they are fired and have until tomorrow to get their things.

At home, Dulce compares the logos and finds that they are indeed similar. Just then, Jorge arrives, and Dulce tells him that she is envious of his schedule. Jorge nods and Dulce wonders who the owner of the company he works for is, as she would like to ask for a job, but Jorge has no clue and wonders why she’s so curious. Dulce shrugs but wonders who hired Jorge originally. Jorge tells her no, but he is tired of all her questions and she leaves him be.

Maria and Mauricio pick up Anifer from school and tell her to appreciate the time she has because it goes by fast and you don’t have tomorrow guaranteed. Maria chides him for his words as Mauricio asks how her interview went. Maria sighs as Anifer wishes them all the successes with their new toys, even if they don’t make them at Logatoys. She then hopes they get along with Fabian because she wants to see him again. Maria and Mauricio wonder what they will do now because Anifer wants to have a relationship with Fabian.

As Esperanza serves the children food, she has to hear each of the kids tell the other that they were found in a garbage can or adopted. Esperanza chides them for being rowdy as Veronica and Tono arrive and greet them all with kisses. They all smile but Esperanza looks exasperated by the whole situation. She asks them why they are hope early and Veronica and Tono pull her aside to tell them something very important. Esperanza tries to tell them her news first but Tono reveals that he was fired along with Veronica. Esperanza can’t believe this is happening again…

Alfredo: How can Jorge be that STUPID & leave one of the documents sitting there ? You knew Dulce was going to up the ante!

Alfredo, the title was simply outstanding. Once again, the episode paled in comparison to your excellent summary.

"Dulce tries to prevent her face from contorting into pure disgust". As do we. How disappointing that this contemptuous creature is the one person in this novela who is smart enough to pick up in your face clues and actually follow up.

"because he doesn’t know what his life will be like from now on, or if he will get out of the hospital, he wants Maria to destroy all the proof against him and not report him to the police". Of course she should! Fabian only sent her to jail, ripped her daughter from her and almost killed her in a high speed chase. This is a situation where God might forgive but mere mortals shouldn't.

Tono and Vero's sexcapades got completely out of hand and with alarming, ramped up frequency. I don't think they thought they'd get caught, mistakenly forgetting staff do actually go in and out of offices all day. I hope they managed to put a bit aside for the upcoming financial drought.

The only highlight was Renee telling Anifer she is her aunt. Renee and Ariel make me want to stifle a yawn.

I am unsure of what happened as the episode I saw ended up with Dulce telling Jorge the truth about Kika. Although most of the dialog escaped me, Jorge went after Kika verbally in front of Mau, Dulce and the children. She begged to speak quietly, just the two of them which he ignored. It ended very badly and I believe they broke up. I am completely done with Jorge.

Alfredo, you always come through and in grand style. Thank you!

Diana

Alfredo, thank you once again for a great recap. Yes, the dumbest duo did get "Fired. Again!"

Unfortunately Looneycision is even worse than Vero and Toño. Here in NY they may have continued even longer than what Diana saw, even running over the hour, with Dulce following Jorge to church to work on him, and then Jorge going to Kika's suite to break up with her there.

It may be that people in different parts of the country saw slightly differently cut versions. Maybe?

We'll see where they pick up tomorrow. Sheesh!

andy

Thank you for your recap, AlfredoA.

I saw the same as Diana and Andy, with the final scene showing Jorge at Kika's door, breaking up with her. We knew Kika's lie would not end well. Sadly, I understand where Jorge is coming from. His trust in Kika is destroyed, on top of Dulce's return and evil behavior. He probably wants to change his name and move to Australia.

Thank you, Alfredo. The recap was outstanding as it always is.

Last night was a combo of Capítulos 86 and 87 The slicing and dicing has begun. Lots of luck for the viewer. They cut out all of the “funny” like Toño sticking Esperanza with taking care of the kids while Fidelito is stuck in the bathroom after eating liver and onions. We are down to bare bones.

Fabián seems to be making nice with everybody. Mauricio looks like he wants to believe him. Fabián asks María not to file charges against him for Anifer’s sake. María is not too sure. He just could not “bear” it if Anifer knew all of the terrible things he has done.

Anifer wants to see Fabián again. María is not for it, Mauricio is at point of giving in to Anifer one more time and Renée thinks it would be a fine idea. Hey, Fabián is not trying to replace Mauricio, Fabián just wants to talk to Anifer.

Kika wants to invest in the cooperative. Jorge does not want to mix business and love. She talks Mauricio into helping her but Jorge is stuck in his chauvinist rut.

Renée reports Noél to the police as a missing person. They get a sketch artist to work with her so now she has a poster.

Yes, Dulce exposed Kika and Jorge broke up with her. Jorge goes on this long winded explanation that there is more that separates them than unites them. To Kika’s credit she tells him that a man who who will not fight for love just isn’t worth it and closes the door in his face.

If Kika were smart she would have thrown that he lied about being a married man in his face. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Wow...sounds like last night was confusing. And a downer for sure. Ultimos capitulos can be a rough ride.

In spite of the absence of priests in this one (other than the negative portrayal of the priest at Sami and Valentina's first school), the same lesson of forgiveness is being preached.

"Fabian confesses that he wants to appreciate his time on this Earth, instead of holding grudges,"

I do love that this is always the basic theme running under the violent mayhem, rambunctious sex and slap happy comedy.

Appreciate your time on earth.
Don't hold grudges.
Treasure the present moment.
To the best of your ability, let go of the past, and quit worrying about the future.

If our Sunday School teachers--or Ethics professors (shout out to Flor) are all buff and/or gorgeous, it makes the lesson go down a little easier, so I'm all for it. Even better if there's a shower scene or two. ( Fernando Colunga where are you??!!!)

Thank you Alfredo. You're a champ.

Thank You Mr. AAA. Finally an episode worth actually writing about. Vero and Tono have to be a stealth PSA for bipolar disorder. Sooo glad these two dumb shits got fired. How ridiculous. Espy must be so proud.

Yes Andy, we saw Dulcer following Jorge into church down here. I kinda liked that one as hopeofully that punched her forsure ticket to hell.

I think this whole TN is a PSA for "You don't need to be smart enough to raise kids to make them." (Seeds?)

Miss Kurvy Kika is the one shining star here. For reasons only known to, what was that RGV, the snail shells?, she Luuuurves his dumb pigheaded ass and his kids. He does not deserve her. The snail shells are from Nanciyaga in Lo Imperdonable, right?

" change his name and move to Australia." I would vote for suicide, but that would hurt Valentina, the only one of his brats I could give a continental about. The other three could walk out in traffic.

So is the Fabian story going anywhere that makes a modicum of sense? OK I thought so. Do the surgery and kill him.

Wait: I just had a brainstorm: Murder suicide is always a nice finish. Jorge, give it some thought, as you and Dulcer are both headed somewhere warm. Don't keep them waiting.

Hoppy Hump Day
RGV is bird count no change?

Thanks Jarifa. "To Kika’s credit she tells him that a man who who will not fight for love just isn’t worth it and closes the door in his face. "

I agree completely. It is not like there aren't other fish in the sea. There are still a couple weeks and she has not been with Pablo or Neron. :-)

Kirby, Looking at all of the guys in the privada, Flor might have walked away with the prize: Nerón.

BTW, it was stupid for Mauricio to tell Fabián ahead of time that María was going to file charges against him. The guy does not think.

I do not trust Fabián.

Renée seems interested in the low key no pressure approach of Ariel.

Diana, yes, Toño and Verónica told Esperanza that they had plenty of savings to get them through this rough patch.

Andy, “sheesh” is about all I can say, too.

Sure beginning to look that way. A Ford beats a Porsche if reliability is the race.

And, Jarifa, we have caught a glimpse of Neron actually working and accomplishing something tangible.

OK I know flat tires is not as sexy as Mama Papa dolls, but when you have one, whoever can fix it is pretty sexy at the moment.

Does anyone want to bet that if Maria somehow destroys all evidence against Fabian that he will miraculously jump up and walk around?

But to do that is maybe beyond even Maria's expertise. She has to change any documents in Mexico and Guatamela concerning her imprisonment. She has to erase all Law enforcement records of the police chase including how one popo car was destroyed.

"Renée seems interested in the low key no pressure approach of Ariel."

Renee seems to like Rafa more than anyone. She's just a flake.

Thank you, Alfredo, for another signature Alfredo recap.

Dulce sure has a lot of nerve interfering into everybody's business. I hate that look that she always has on her face..like she is the smartest thing around . She means to make her competition for mealticket Jorge disappear! Come on , kiki, where is that bulldozer personality that we have all witnessed ? Time to use that baby singsong voice and seduce the daylights out of bello jorge.

Kirby...I agree that Renee seems closest to Rafe. Zzzzz What a lackadaisical k axing lady. Say that four times.I

I need coffeeeeeeeeee.☕

Kirby, hey, the only obnoxious thing Nerón has done was not telling his kids about Flor because he was embarrassed about being old and having a young chick as his girlfriend. Otherwise he works hard, earns the best he can and took care of Flor with her cancer as well as taking care of Milady and supporting Flor in her educational pursuits. Sounds like a keeper to me.

I also think that Fabián will be hopping around wreaking havoc sooner rather than later.

Renée is a flake (but so is Mauricio) so a perfect couple they will make.

I am annoyed that they have cut out so much of the actually funny subplots at this point. If that was going to be the deal at this point, they just should have cut out all of the subplots and cut the novela down to maybe 70 capítulos.

Ah, the famosos tijeras malas de Looneyvision,,, se explica todo. 😳

ITA about Nerón looking like the winner here.

Mau is the telenovela version of the scarecrow (Wizard of Oz) ... "if I only had a brain!"

Mau = #Icanhazbrain?

My tablet decided that I meant ",kaxing" not "leading." Thank you, tablet.

P.s. I hope that everybody has a kaxing day.

It's hard to stay on Diablo's good side. It appears to me when you wrote about nice weather and daffodils blooming it set him off and he is attempting to dilute your good mood. Is that supposed to be something like K-Axe.? Like chopping wood with a tool from K-Mart?
#dontlethimwin

"Renée is a flake (but so is Mauricio) so a perfect couple they will make".

And there you have it. Thanks Jarifa.

Diana

How did we ever manage before we found Caray???

:-p

andy

Good Day, Everyone! Alfredo, thanks for the excellent recap! Hope all is well with you.

So two busts in one episode...the slicing and dicing explains why so much happened last night. I suppose it was only a matter of time.

I too am glad that Vero and Tonto were caught. I was getting tired of their irresponsible, teenage behavior. Serves them right...and Tono did say that if they were going to get fired, it should be for something that was worth it. I did feel sorry for Espe, though. Just when she was going to tell them that she had had it; now she feels obligated to stay.

LUURVED Kika not groveling to Jorge. He is such an idiot. His reasons for ending the relationship made no sense since those differences he cited (social class, financial worth, etc,) have always existed...and he is just now thinking about that??? If he allows Dulce another chance, he can keep her. Kika can do MUCH better.

Agree about Kika.

Jorge broke up with Kika primarily because she lied to him about his employer. That's big, since he refused a job with her company. The other reasons are just "add ons" which might or might not be lame/valid/justifiable. He is still a turkey. Nonetheless, he has grown a lot since the beginning of this telenovela and no doubt will come 'round before it ends. And ITA, RgvChick, Kika can do better.

As for Mau and Renee, I couldn't care less if those two end up together. That is the most lukewarm relationship I've ever seen on a telenovela. yeesh! Writers really dropped the ball on that one.

So....who scores lower on the hotness thermometer...Renee and Maury (yawn) or Lu and Dave in Amor de Vino (snore)???😚

I think Renee and Maury are a new high in low.

Are they picking people who off camera nauseate each other, do we have a crop of leading ladies and/or men who do not bathe, or is this the new no love love with millenials? Those two little dogs down the street make either of these couples look like watching paint dry.

Thanks, Alfredo. Looking forward to reading your recap before tonight's episode.

Jorge does the expected. I hope Valentina for one lights into him about how stupid he's being dumping Kika.

ITA that Renée seems more interested in Rafa than in anyone else. In fact, if Rafa & Rodrigo should break up maybe Renée and Rafa could get together, though that might make her feel like a ...

No, I'll just keep that thought to myself and hopefully not get banned.

:-)

Jorge does have a valid complaint against ChicaKikaBoomBoom, but if he really dumps her over this he's a total idiot.

andy

Andy - Kika is the best thing that ever has -- and ever will -- happen to him.

Hi Jarifa, have a few days off this week so thought I would see if you had poted yet.

I'm smiing because I think the highlight of tonight's episode might be Kika eating ice cream (?) :)

I'm sure you will reinvent a rather ho hum episode into a fantastic recap.

Sleep well all.

Diana
