Oh Boy what a start. The main bearded fellow is evil personified. I am still trying to figure out how many in the law enforcement /DEA are corrupt too. And his own son is beginning to get a clue that his Father is bad, so Daddy has a couple of his goons torture his own son. Yikes. Fabian didn't achieve that level of evil for fifty episodes.

And of course Esme's Dad is one of the good guys trying to expose the corrupt evil ones in the organization. He and his family are beginning to pay the price.
 

HELLLOOOO!!!

Wow, this thing is off to a fast and furious start and I have my thumbs u p so far. Here are a few highlights...please add to whatever I missed...

Enrique Leon, federal agent and Isabela's father, led the sting against Armando Quintero, powerful and ruthless casino owner, who makes Mommy Dearest look like a saint.

Isabela is already quite a markswoman and boxer. She is very close to her father who has been keeping her abreast of what he does and why he does it...for the safety of his family. The secret underground office was really cool...and that gun her father showed her was really shiny! I'm sure some of the guys here on the patio will tell us about it. Bella is also very close to Maria, the maid's daughter, who is pregnant.

After Enrique found Quintero's warehouse and confiscated all the money, Armando met with his fellow bestias to get them to agree to take out Enrique. His son, Juan Pablo, who wants nothing to do with his father's business, but is being forced into it, accompanies his father to the building where the meeting is held, but isn't allowed in. Curiosity led Juan Pablo to the security office and he watches and listens in to the meeting. Smart guy, JP video tapes the meeting with his phone!

Later, JP, being the good guy he is, tries to tip off Enrique that some very influential people are out to kill him, but Enrique's BFF intercepts the call. Unfortunately the BFF is a MOLE! He let's Quintero know about the call, but Quintero's henchman overheard JP make the call and snitch to Quintero who beats his own son, JP, and tells him he is going to make sure that JP is part of the assassination...though they lock him in some room-size safe.

When Quintero tells his henchmen his plan to take out Enrique, they advise him to take out the whole family so no one will be left to come back for vengeance. Quintero worries that he only got his fellow bestias to agree to the hit on Enrique, but goes ahead and tells the henchmen to take out the whole family.

Enrique is in the bathroom (at the mall?) when two henchmen go in and tell him to "shake it off" because they need to go. As Enrique starts to fight back, one of the henchman uses a taser to knock him out. The rest of the Leon family and Maria are at the mall finishing up some shopping when Isabela's mother realizes she left her credit card behind; so Bella goes back to look for it. Once Bella's mother and Maria get to the car, a van pulls up and two henchmen grab Bella's mother and, in the struggle, slash Maria's throat. Bella gets to the parking garage as the van speeds away. As she looks toward the car, she sees Maria lying on the ground in a pool of blood.

Quintero also has a daughter, Emita, who is going to be a spoiled little rich bitch...and she happens to go to the same school as Bella. Emita was involved in an accident that she caused because she was just plain drunk! Quintero sent JP to get her out, but JP decided to let her stew in jail for the night. Next day when Quintero found out from whiny Emita, he slapped JP and told him he'd better follow orders next time.

That's about all I remember for now...

A tale of revenge! Not much to not like in the first episode.

Wow! I can see why Mrs. Quintero (Gloria?) was downing the tequila from morning on and whenever we saw her.

There was a weird painting in the Quintero house that was in Amores con Tramos. Just as weird now as it was then.

Entertaining . . . so far.

I liked the first episode. Will give this show a try.
Several coincidences set up the story. JP just happens to overhear the plans to take out Enrique. When he calls, the mole just happens to intercept the call. Somehow they just figure out it was JP that called. Isabela just happens to go back for something and avoids death.

One small correction: It was the mother who was slashed, not Maria. Maria was put in the van along with Enrique. Poor Maria. I wonder if her being pregnant will become important in identifying her as not being Bella if she ends up being murdered.

Poor Enrique being ambushed in the bathroom. He never got a chance to pee. Thanks for explaining how he was so easily overpowered by Little Man and Skinny Guy since he could have easily mopped the floor with them. There's a special place in hell for Little Man for suggesting that the entire family be murdered.

Mimita's classmates pinned a Lady $100 sign on her back. What..?! Did she twerk for $100 or what? More importantly, will she go viral like that yodeling kid in Walmart and Chewbacca mom. What will Daddy say?

Poor JP. Man slapped then beaten by Daddy and his goons.

And finally.. Manuel the mole is Bella's padrino. Hope he chokes on his favorite bottle of wine.
 

What day did they announce El Chapo 3rd season??
 

Correction: It was actually Lady 100 pesos. Whatever Mimita did, 100 pesos wasn't worth it. And I think the friend said that it did go viral.

Also maybe Enrique did get a chance to go which explains the shake it comment. Either way Liitle Man broke the rule that you aren't supposed to talk to the person next to you. Another reason to hate him.

I watched this episode for the second time. Just as I did with the first go-around I FFWDed through much of it. Nonetheless I got a basic idea of what is going on, and who is who. I'm still not sure what I think of it, it will take a little time to be sure. Whatever.

Only saw part of this, thank God. Went upstairs to read way before the carnage started. This is not something I could watch at night. Alas, the practice of wiping out whole families to make sure no one takes revenge goes back to Biblical/tribal times. Mankind hasn't changed, sorry to say.

Thanks Rgv Chick. I know how busy your life is. You're a doll to do this. I'm more the "telenovelas rosas". There's more than enough carnage in those as well.

Chickie, thank you so much. I only get what I can deduce from the visuals... Good dad. Bad dad. Good family. Bad family. Good cop. Bad cop. Really bad criminals. Cute kick boxing and the firing range. A bat cave behind a bookcase. Bulletin board of baddies. (Which reminded me of the show Homeland and agent Carrie',s bulletin board.) I only recognize a few of the actors.......good dad (,who is a bad guy in Corazon at 11 am and has been in many tns), Bella , JP. That bad dad is muy scary. I was okay until the brutal, awful ending. I am in, but I hope only the bad guys get hurt from here on out.

P.s. How are your chickens? All accounted for? Have you found out who the predator is? I found an old photo of hub at about 5 or 6 in his swim trunks holding a chicken ! He thinks it might have been an Easter gift chick that grew up...in spite of him.

Niecie: Was Isabela supposed to be in high school? If so there must be a 'después' coming up, because I can't imagine Esmeralda as a high schooler going around taking out bad guys. And isn't Juan Pablo studying economics at the university? They must be close in age.

Juan Pablo, why the heck has he stuck around at home??? Granted, he wants to go to school and leaving might just tick off dear old dad, but could leaving be more dangerous than living in the guy's house? So far I'm not impressed with JP.

Susanlynn, "A bat cave behind a bookcase." Yup. But it's strange. Built to protect his family? Yet they go to school, go shopping, etc? What was he expecting, that bad guys would call up and say "We're coming for you and your family in 15 minutes or so."? But, sure, it will make a great headquarters for the vengeance campaign.

Ya Jarifa. I was just thankful the Minions came at her one at a time and waited their turn to get their ass kicked by a girl. She might have had her hands full with all them at once. Impressive nonetheless.

The Vault-O-Roo was so quick I at first did not know for sure what happened.

I am still getting a handle on who is good, bad, bad but playing good and good but being bad. IE: who needs a bullet. :-)
 

I have to admit that I kept turning the show off and on as the bruta!ity was revisited. I finally stayed with the channel when Bella was kicking guys while holding a gun on Bad Dad. I wondered how she was going to handle things once she got to that door....the answer...not well. Are there several bad cops or just Bella's godfather ?

I'm sorry, but I don't think I will ever be able to forgive Isabella for not taking her doggie into the safe room with her. She's on my "hate" list for that. As for Little Man Castor, I want him dead.

Is it wrong that I enjoyed Armando pouring the booze and stepping on Little Man Castor's wound? I hope Armando takes Emmanuel's suggestion and whacks Norman Bates and Little Man Castor. It should have been done tonight, IMO.

I'm shocked and glad that Maria is still alive.

Isabella beating the crap out of Armando and almost leaving him deaf in one ear was great. As was her beatdown of his security team. Which leaves me thinking, that um, she could have easily taken down Little Man Castor and Norman Bates while at the house. She had the gun and she has the karate skills. Instead she stayed inside the safe room as her doggie and dad were murdered.

Mimita made me laugh when she was attempting to call an Uber, but couldn't get a signal. Armando was losing patience with her which surprised me.

And JP keeping quiet about Daddy being a murderer made me want to throttle him.
 

Hey, All! Here are some highlights of tonight's episodes. My apologies for the brevity. Feel free to fill in any of the gaps or add/correct details about any of the scenes...or tell about the scenes I may have missed.

Episode 2: Bella Turns into BelLaBadAssChick and Meets Juan Pablo Part 1

Bella is frantic and tries calling Emanuel, but he doesn’t answer.

In the van, María tells Norman, the skinny guy, who she is; so they realize they have the wrong girl. They’re set on getting Bella and drive to the Leon home to look for her.
Meanwhile, Bella runs frantically through the streets and heads to her house. Amazingly, no one notices her bloody shirt or that she is crying. When she gets home, she tries Emanuel again, but he still refuses to answer. Alicia, María’s mother, sees all the blood on Bella’s clothes and asks what happened. After Bella gives her a quick rundown of what has happened, Alicia asks about María; so Bella tells her she was taken…they mistook María for her. Bella somehow figures out that they will probably come for her; so she pulls Alicia down with her to the León Cave where they see through the cameras that the van has arrived. Bella watches as her father is pulled out of the van and beaten while being asked where the daughter is…Enrique refuses to say. El Castor, short guy, shoots the gate open only to be attacked and bitten by the dog which he quickly disposes of with a couple of shots. Bella and Alicia are still watching through the cameras as Norman continues to beat and drag Enrique into the house. El Castor quickly looks around the house for Bella, but can’t find her; so Norman continues to beat Enrique trying to make him talk, but Enrique is determined not to talk. Norman pushes him out the wall-sized window and shoots him. Bella screams and dashes to the door, but Alicia stops her, knowing that Bella will get killed.

Later, as Bella is being taken into the federal building, Bella recalls going to her father who was still alive; she asked him not to leave her, but he died in her arms.

Bella goes to identify her parent’s bodies. Emanuel is there and when she tries to touch her father, he tells her it is prohibited. Later the @&*# hugs Bella as she cries.

Rodrigo, María’s father and Alicia are with the agents demanding that they find their daughter. The agents are doing everything they can. Bella tells them that Armando Quintero has her…they took her because they thought María was her. She also tells them that Quintero did this out of revenge, but the agents can’t move on it because they don’t have any conclusive evidence.

Quintero questions El Castor about what happened. El Castor responds that he had to make an executive decision; so they killed the mother…but there were no witnesses; so they have nothing to worry about. While Quintero pours liquor on El Castor’s wound (from the dog bite), he tells EL Castor that he does NOT make executive decisions.

Emanuel confronts Quintero who tells him things got a little out of hand. El Castro made an executive decision to kill Enrique’s wife. When Emanuel tells Quintero that Bella saw EL Castor and Norman, Quintero wants to take out Bella, but Emanuel tells him to get rid of El Castor and Norman instead…and to release María since she has nothing to do with this.

El Castor goes to see María who is lying on a bed crying. When he tries to have his way with her, she tells him to not hurt her baby; so El Castor pulls away.

At the federal building, Ricardo, federal agent, tells Bella that Rodrigo and Alicia have left. Bella wants to go home too, but Ricardo tells her that he prefers that she stay there; they have prepared one of the agent’s quarters for her. When Bella asks about Maria, Ricardo responds that they are searching for her…checking all the security cameras and conducting car searches. When Ricardo asks Bella if she has any other family, Bella tells him that she has a grandfather in a nursing a home and an aunt who she doesn’t know and lives far away…so she actually has no one he could send her off to.
 

Episode 2: Bella Turns into BelLaBadAssChick and Meets Juan Pablo Part 2

Later in bed, Bella recalls the killing of her parents; so she gets up. When one of the agents checks on her, she is nowhere to be found.

Bella goes into the León cave and looks at the notes and pictures her father had on the bulletin. She then opens the safe and gets her gun.

At the casino, Mrs. Quintero is totally drunk and wanting to gamble more, but Quintero has her taken home. Quintero goes out into a balcony where Bella confronts him and kicks his arse quite well. His goons come to his rescue, but fail. Bella grabs Quintero and asks where María is, but, of course, Quintero denies knowing what she is talking about. They eventually get to the vault…Bella still has Quintero in an armlock and the goons are following, but can’t do anything but drop their guns since Bella is threatening to kill Quintero. When Bella demands that Quintero enter the code to open the vault, he does so, but when Bella opens the door and looks in, Quintero shoves her inside. Juan Pablo recovers the gun Bella dropped, but she quickly pulls out her other gun …and they are at a standoff. JP eventually drops the gun and tells Bella that he is Quintero’s son. When Bella tells him her name, he recognizes the last name and asks if she is related to Enrique. Bella tells him he was her father. As time passes, Bella tells JP about how her parents were killed; she really doesn’t know why she is even telling him about it. JP tells her he is not like his father and is very sorry about her parents.

During this time, Emita comes to her father and bugs him about what is happening since there is so much chaos that she isn’t being allowed to do anything. Quintero denies that anything is wrong and wants her to leave, but Emita insists on knowing what’s going on. She finally figures out that JP is inside the vault…and there is a girl with her.

Meanwhile, the federal agents have arrived. They go to Quintero and ask for Bella. Quintero admits that she is there and opens the vault. While this is going on, JP and Bella are still talking. When JP wonders why her father didn’t do anything to protect himself, Bella knows that JP knew about the plans to kill her parents. She questions him just as the agents enter. When she sees the agents, she demands that JP tell them that her father gave the order to have her parents killed, but JP remains quiet as he looks fearfully at his father. When the agents question him, JP tells them he knows nothing! As the agents take Bella out, Quintero tells them that he will be filing charges against her.

 

Typos already! Second to the last paragraph...This sentence should read "She finally figures out that JP is inside the vault...and there is a girl with HIM."

Chickie, thanks for the recap. (It sure seemed like a recap to me, and made it possible for me to watch quite a bit of the show at 2X speed, which helped a lot.)

El Castor planned to rape María, but pulled away after hearing she was pregnant? What is this supposed to tell us? Surely not that he has a conscience, I think we already know better than that.

When does Juan Pablo start to impress us? Nothing so far.

So far there is a lot of unpleasantness, and what isn't unpleasant is somewhat unbelievable, but I'm hanging in to see the Bella become the Sexpot. (but hasn't she lost a little weight since we saw her last?)

Thank You RGV as I am still in catch up mode. Great Recap. You shouldn't even think about a few entertaining little typos, as we all will read right through them.

So One Pab Low is still terrified of his Daddy? How old is this nutless wonder supposed to be? Old enough to know his Dad beat the Bejesus out of him and ordered people killed, so he has quickly gotten on my sh_tlist. I hope we get to watch Bella kick his behind too.

Andy, I thought Bella did not look as 'curvy' as we saw her previously, and just chalked it up to her having been in the gym training for the scenes where they are not using a standin. But she is making it look real, given that anybody knows that karate and similar skills only get you so far, in that it is still a stretch to think that she dispatched a few fellows probably twice her weight so easily. But I am planning on believing it for the sake of the show.

Beast, I was cringing too when the dog confronted the murderturds, knowing what was inevitable. That is what is so endearing about a good dog, it will die trying to protect a human.

Isn't there supposed to be a time lapse in here somewhere where Bella 'Returns from LA' and goes into full revenge mode? Or did that already happen? She sure looked to be in revenge mode last night. If that was just clearing her throat, I can't wait till she really sings.


 

Kirby: I cringed when Emanuel comforted Bella knowing he did nothing or lift a finger to save her parents.

RGV Chick: Karma will come to Emanuel sooner or later. Once Bella figures it out, she's going to go La Dona on his ass.

Well, Bella is on a mission.I wonder how this is all going to play out. That whole scene going down that narrow hallway holding the gun on Daddybad was odd. I am a little claustrophobic , so it made me nervous.

Andy, I'm glad that Little Man Castor backed off. I would have hated to have to watch a rape scene right after seeing a dog killed.

Kirby, the murder of the dog was the hardest to watch for me last night. I almost turned the TV off when I knew that he would be killed. Isabella lost some major points with me for not saving him from such a terrible fate.

Andy and Susy, thank you for being so thoughtful. I try not to do too much, but this series is so good that I don't want you all to miss out on anything...especially at the beginning which sets the groundwork for the rest of the TN. I'll go as long as I can, but I can't guarantee highlights every night. If someone would like to join in with highlights, Cliff notes, whatever, please let me know....even if it's just a one-timer..or two...or three :-)

Andy, I agree with Kirby. all that training Esme had to go through must have had a hand in her weightloss, but she does look fierce. I know there are some that would have liked to see Altair Jarabo in this role, but I think the producers made the best decision. Esme is knocking it out of the park...along with some hoodlums.

Kirby, the "despues" or "months.years later" hasn't happened. Last night Bella went after Quintero on a whim...without really thinking it through. I think that once she goes through some more training, she will be much wiser and cunning in plotting her revenge.

Kirby, thanks for the good guy/bad guy list. It'll help keep us all abreast of who is who.

I think that if Emanuel had a sliver of goodness in him, he would have at least picked up the phone when Bella was calling him...and pretended to care.

ANd I also thought the writers went a little overboard with it...too much too soon for Bella who was only kickboxing in high school....but then we don't know if her father may have been training her in self defense or similar stuff..or for how long since he had confidence enough in her to give her that gun.

So glad you're in, Susy!! I had my doubts about whether I would be committing to this since it looks like there will be quite a bit of violence, but being that the story line is SO GOOD...I'm definitely IN!!
 

The Beast, I also love your avatar. My little grand daughter asked me what my favorite Disney movie was , and I told her Beauty and the Beast. She answered, " You're Beauty, and Poppy is the Beast. " Poppy took offense.

I hated Enrique being thrown out the window....over and over because they kept replaying it...at !east once backwards with him going back through the window. Ugh.

Rgv, thank you for the warm welcome. I have only been lurking for a while because I don't exactly have the time to commit to a tn. But this one sounds good, and I like the leads, so hopefully I can stick to it.

Armando is quite a piece of work, isn't he? He doesn't even mind beating his son, so why would he care about strangers?
Can I just say that with all the criminals in this show, I find Emita the worst?

I was surprised that Bella would go to confront Armando so soon. If this will turn into a very well structured revenge, how will she go about it if the guy knows her? I guess I thought she would go all Count of MonteCristo on him and his fellow beasts, but the story seems to be going in a different direction. I'm always happy when a tn manages to surprise me.

I don't actually despise JP. I think he's a victim of abuse - who knows how many more beatings he had to endure in his life to come to a point where he can't even stand up for himself. I actually blame his mother more, her number one job is to protect her children, they didn't ask for the father they got. I guess we'll see down the line what her story is.

So is Armando going to frame his son for Enrique's murder? That's what he threatened him with when he was locking him up in that safe.
 

Starsky is a handsome fellow. Is the grey around his muzzle from old age, or is that just his coloring?

When my muzzle started turning grey I decided that clean shaven was my best look.

The scene with the family dog attacking El Castor was well done, but I was afraid the dog wouldn't survive so I looked away. So sad.

Adrian Noel, nice to see you here. I too am surprised Isabela attacked now, without backup and a plan, letting the bad guys know who she is and what she's capable of. But I guess her wigs will fool them. Hmmm, she doesn't even wear glasses or a veil in these disguises, based on the commercials.
 

Adriana NOel, I too was surprised too how Bella took off after Quintero. She's a young girl acting out on impulse...very inexperienced when it comes to seeking those who did her wrong. That's why I'm sure it'll take a few years to mature and become that fierce heroine we have been seeing in the previews.

I also agree about JP...a victim of his father's scorn and control. He was set on going to study a career, but his father has other plans for him. And you are right, Armando did say he was going to implicate JO in the murders...how he will do that since JO was locked up in the vault is yet to be seen.

Susy, I do think JP will go toward the good guys. What I'm wondering is how long it'll take him to tell Bella that he did make a call to warn her father, but a mole intercepted his call...hopefully soon.

Steve, as long as Emanuel goes down...waaay down to middle earth, I'll be happy!

Emita has not actually done anything bad, herself, overtly. She just sees horrific things and accepts them as long as she continues to get what she wants. Not to say she is not evil, though.

RGV you can't possibly care for that many adorable animalitos. I suspect you are secretly photographing the neighbor's dogs, cats, goats, wabbits, chickens, and Llamas and passing them off here as your own. :-)
 

I suppose since Bella has already shown her hand, that is why she is to later return from Los Angeles, (as there are only TWO states in the USA, LA and Maryland), where she would supposedly be safe from the Beasts while she prepares for her personal Armageddon.

Although she looked pretty tough already last night with those gimormous (In her little hands) guns and kicking, whacking and otherwise taking down AQ's security people. I guess maybe his best fellows were occupied trying to pour Ms. Q into a car to get her home in one piece.

If what we saw was a girl fresh out of high school, I wouldn't want to be on her bad side when she has been away for YEARS honing her skills.

She sure handled those guns expertly, I wonder if they use lightweight plastic ones, but her arms looked pretty muscular.

The very first scene they showed in the first episode was Bella at the gun renge; and she was hitting the target quite well. I'm thinking her father has already done quite a bit of training with her...but she is still lacking in patience, planning, and organizing.

I wonder if there is going to be a load of Spanglish mixed in. That would help me.
 

kirby...thanks for that info. Regarding the Navy and Marines, hub used to play in a basketball league when he was stationed on a Naval air base ,and he played with a lot of Marines. They were friends...except for that one time he got in a fist fight because of a nasty remark one of them made about hub' s friend!!!!

It will be interesting to see where this goes. So far, Esme is doing a good job.
