Papá a Toda Madre, Último Capítulo: Part 2, 6/11/2018: After the Ashes Settle, Everything is Beautiful…In Its Own Way!

Renée and Fabián are still on the phone. After Fabián hangs up, he tells María that he has to go out…they will be locked in and if they leave, he swears he will put Mauricio back in jail.
At the hospital, Lili tells Pablo that she was very frightened. (Huh? What's up with that? Chicken.) Those guys wanted to take her, but luckily that didn’t happen. Pablo feels sorry for Baldo who ended up paying for something he shouldn’t have had to pay for. When Lili asks what they will do now about their own situation, Pablo doesn’t know, but suggests that they leave things as they are for now…because the reality is much more than the love they have for each other. As Lili agrees, Jorge approaches and tells Lili that Baldo is doing well and wants to see all of them. As they walk away, Lili turns back and asks Pablo if he isn’t going with them, but Pablo doesn’t think he should because it’s a family thing. Jorge urges him to go with them because he IS part of the family; so Pablo joins them with a big smile. (Awwww, how sweeeeet!)

At Vero’s house, Toño comments that the good thing is that Baldo is out of danger now. Nerón worries about what is happening to the cul-de-sac, but Rafa thinks that it is still incredible. As they talk, Bryan and Neto come down the stairs. After Bryan tells Neto that he wants to be like his Papa Rodrigo, Rafa is very happy to hear him refer to Rodrigo as “papa.”(Awwww, how sweeeeet again....I always wondered which one was the wife.) Just then, Melina calls Nerón to ask for a favor.
At the hospital, Baldo’s family surrounds him and tells him that they are happy he is doing well. Sammy kids him about liking cop shows so much…he has just lived one. When Baldo wonders when he will be able to return to Tijuana, Jorge tells him to take this as a sign…that the best thing is that he stay with them until he recovers and finishes high school (and give me time to scrounge up that money I stole from you and Lil). When he becomes self-sufficient, he can leave. After everyone urges Baldo to stay, Jorge goes to sit beside Baldo and promises that he will get all their money back so that they can continue their studies. With tears in his eyes, Jorge tells Baldo that he got scared when he saw him lying on the pavement; so Baldo tells him, “It’s over now; don’t worry, Papá.” After Jorge notes that Baldo referred to him as “papá,” Lili tells him, “Yes, because that is what you are…our papá,” and she gives him a kiss as Jorge’s tears of joy stream down his face…he tells them he loves them all very much. (Awwww, how sweeeeet…I’m getting on sweet overload!)

At Logatoys, Fabián enters his office and remarks that it is an honor that his father and his prodigal sister are there. When he asks why they are having a family reunion, Noel stands up and tells him, “I want you to know that my situation has changed; I am no longer legally dead. I made my statement; and though I am going to be tried, there is a change in my legal status in regards to what I own.” Fabián wonders if Noel is going to claim his house and everything that he supposedly left him. He asks if Noel is also going to take Logatoys and reminds him that his intention was to break it. When he asks Renée if their father had told her that, Noel tells Renée that Fabián is lying again and that she shouldn’t listen to him. Fabián retorts that Noel knows it’s not a lie…and he doesn’t want to waste his time with them; so he demands to know what they want.
Outside, it’s raining as Rodrigo arrives at Fabian’s house with Mauricio; they are there to get María and Anifer. Rodrigo gets a call that the warrant for Fabián’s arrest is ready; so he tells Mauricio to stay there while he goes to meet the agents at Logatoys.
Inside the house, María asks Anifer to forgive her for everything she has gone through. Anifer wonders why María is asking for forgiveness if she has never treated her badly. As they hug, Mauricio walks in. Anifer is so happy that he came for her. When María tells him that Fabián will call the police if he finds him there, Mauricio tells them not to worry because Fabián won’t be able to hurt them anymore. Anifer tells Mauricio that she missed him; so Mauricio assures her that nothing and no one will ever separate them again. While Anifer rushes off to get her things, Mauricio tells María that he wants them to stay at Toño’s house because he has something important to do…he will explain as he takes them over there. (Are they digging a human-sized hole in the flower bed beside Dog #1's resting place?)
At Logatoys, Noel tells Fabián that he just made a statement where he sustains that Fabián is so mentally unstable that there is no way he could be a good father to Anifer. As Renée approaches, Fabián tells her that she should clearly see that her adored father is truly crazy…he’s probably manipulating and threatening her and she doesn’t even realize it. When Noel retorts that Fabián should shut up because his sister knows that he is making things up to make Noel look bad, Fabián wonders if Renée really trusts Noel and asks Noel if he is going to turn him in just to keep Renée happy. (Only Renee? And all of us too, chumpolito.) When Fabián reminds Noel that he was the one that took care of him, Renée points out that Fabián had Noel locked up. After Fabián asks Renée if she hasn’t figured out that Noel is lying to her, he turns to Noel and reminds him that there were many times when he could have turned him in for what he did…and Noel should know exactly what he is talking about. When Renée asks what he is talking about, Fabián replies that it’s time she found out…Noel was to blame for Aurora’s death! Noel tries to shut Fabián up, but Fabián continues that Mauricio’s mother didn’t die in an accident…their father killed her. Noel glares at Fabian…

As Rodrigo and his partner look for Fabián with guns in hand, Renée asks Noel if what Fabián claims is true. After Noel turns and walks past Renée, not being able to look her in the eye, Rodrigo and his partner enter. Rodrigo tells Fabián that he is under arrest for attempted murder and other charges; so Renée tells Fabián that it’s best that he not resist the arrest, but Fabián grabs Renée, takes out his gun and threatens to put a bullet in her head if they don’t put their guns down. Rodrigo and his partner slowly oblige and tell Fabián to calm down, only to be SHOT by Fabián… (Note: NOT the kidnap gun)

Rodrigo gets shot in the chest, but after Fabián runs out and takes Renée as hostage, Rodrigo rips open his shirt revealing his bullet-proof vest (as if Viewer Ville wouldn’t be able to figure that one out!). He slowly gets up and goes after Fabián.
Fabián whizzes down to the garage with Renée in tow. He forces her into his SUV; and after he gets in the driver’s seat, Mauricio the (Not-So) Marvel comes out of nowhere, sucker punches him, and tries to pull Fabián out! Renée jumps out as the two men struggle and the gun goes off several times. Fabián manages a fierce right hook knocking Mauricio down, so Fabián quickly closes the door and speeds off as Renée goes to Mauricio who will definitely survive since his ego probably got more hurt than his face. (Mind you, Fabian just recently recovered fron spinal surgery enough to walk, while Mauricio's only frailty is above the chin.)
At the hospital lobby, Jorge tells Pablo and Lili that they have his support; however, that support is not unconditional. (Of course. Some---body died and left YOU in charge, right?) After both Pablo and Lili nod in agreement, Jorge lists his conditions: 1) Lili has to return to live at his home; 2) as of the next day, Lili is to attend her classes so she can finish high school; 3) Pablo also needs to return to complete his studies…Jorge supposes that Pablo will return to live with Nerón; 4) when Jorge gets his car back, Pablo will use it to work for Transporcity…Pablo will have to manage his time between taxi driving and his classes. Pablo agrees, but doesn’t think it’s right that Jorge take on all the costs; so Jorge clarifies that Pablo will be responsible for all the costs of the baby . He then turns to Lili and tells her that they will support her, but she will be fully responsible for caring for the baby. What ever they decide to do about their relationship—break up, get married, live together…they need to keep in mind that they are bringing a child into the world and they have to give it the life it deserves. Jorge also emphasizes that the well-being of that child has to be their priority….above everything else…ALWAYS. After Pablo thanks him, Jorge gives him a supportive pat (on the head and a Milk Bone?) and holds Lili’s hands as a sign of his support and love. (What happened, did the previous one hundred episodes happen in an alternate universe?)
Mauricio, Renée, and Noel arrive at Mauricio’s home as Mau talks on the phone with Rodrigo and tells him he will be on top of things. After he hangs up, Mauricio gives an update. Rodrigo and the other agent are fine, but they were only able to find Fabián’s car. The cops don’t think Fabián will get too far; and they will send a unit to patrol the cul-de-sac. While Mauricio goes for María and Anifer at Toño’s house, Noel tries to convince Renée that everything Fabián said was a lie; she knows how capable Fabián is at causing problems…that is why he is asking her not to tell Mauricio anything. Renée agrees since she knows that recalling the fire that killed his mother affects Mauricio the most. At that, Noel comments that he will probably return to live in his home and suggests that Renée go live with him, but Renée wonders if Noel is that sure that he won’t be going to jail. Noel explains that, according to Jorge, because of his age, they may just order a restricted home placement. After Noel suggests that, if that happens, Renée could take care of him and form a family with Mauricio…so that they could all be one, big happy family, Renée points out that Noel is so much like Fabián since he wants to have a family who will conform to what Noel wants; though when he could have had that family with Fabián, he didn’t have that family because Noel never gave Fabián his rightful place as his son. Noel thinks it was different…his wife died and Noel didn’t know how to deal with it. After he adds that no one taught them how to be widowers, Renée agrees and remarks that no one showed them how to be orphans either…and Fabián was one without asking for it. As a consequence, Fabián turned into a man who is quiet, resentful, envious…and that could have been because he never felt the love of his parents. Noel doesn’t seem to be phased by Renée’s words and wonders if she will not be living with him after all; so Renée tells him not to confuse things..she will stay with him whether she likes it or not. (Awwww, how sweeeeet…if she wouldn’t be forced into it!)
As Pablo and Lili walk into the cul-de-sac, Lili tells Pablo that she thinks this is the best decision. Pablo agrees, but wonders about their relationship; so Lili assures him that she does want to continue the relationship. She loves him very much, but the way things are right now, it’s best that they each go their own way. When Pablo asks about the dreams they had for the future, Lili assures him that they will fulfill each and every one together, but right now they have a responsibility to the baby. Pablo again agrees and would like to thank Jorge who conducted himself so well with them. He is sure that Jorge’s support will be very helpful…and wishes his own father had at least wanted to see him once more. (Awwww, how sweeeeet!)
At Nerón’s house, Nerón watches as Flor counts a bunch of money. When she tells him it is the proceeds from the tire shop, Nerón wonders how she was able to pick up so much business; so Flor explains that she is using all the strategies she is learning in her classes. (Um, and don't ask what she is (not) wearing to work.) Nerón wants to get frisky, but Flor pushes away because Milady is watching.
At Mauricio’s house, Mauricio returns with María and Anifer. Renée and Anifer hug and tell each other they missed one another. Just then Noel comes out from the kitchen, so Mauricio introduces Anifer and María to Noel, his long-time friend. Once alone with Noel, Mauricio can imagine how Noel feels about Fabián, but Noel remarks that the fact that Fabián is his son doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t have to pay for what he did. After Mauricio tells Noel that he will not be alone because he will be part of their family, he tries to hug Noel, but Noel rejects the hug…

The Next Day—
Everyone is at the gazebo and in disbelief that Fabián got away. After Renée asks if they are in danger, Mauricio assures them that nothing bad will happen; (I wouldn't send you out to kill a mosquito, so you are now protecting the whole cul-de-sac?) and Rodrigo adds that they need to remain calm…Fabián is probably looking for a way out of the country. Nerón then asks what could happen to Logatoys in a situation like this; so Jorge explains that the judge could order that the company be auctioned off to pay for Fabián’s debts. When Vero wonders if Logatoys could possibly become a property of Anitoys, Toño thinks that would take a lot of money; and Jorge advises that they not get ahead of themselves. The problem would be to have the money when the opportunity arises. As they continue to discuss, Renée is quiet and thoughtful; so Mauricio goes to her and asks if she is okay since she looks somewhat strange. Renée responds that nothing is wrong…he shouldn’t worry. After she goes back to the house, Mauricio looks worried.
At Mauricio’s house, Noel is looking through some drawers as Renée walks in and asks why he is looking through her things. When Noel tells her he is looking for his journal…it has his memories so he wants it back, Renée tells him she left it at her house and assures him it is secure. After Renée tells him that they should go, Noel breathes heavily and goes to sit down. When Renée walks back in, he tells her that he would be very honored to give her his last name. Renée dismisses the thought and helps Noel out so that they can go talk to Jorge so he can explain about the trial.
At Jorge’s house, Jorge explains about the charges they might impose against Noel and thinks that because of Noel’s age, the judge may order him to house arrest. When Renée asks how long the house arrest would last and Jorge responds that, in the best case scenario, it might be about three years, Noel deduces that Renée is thinking about the mastery program she “was” going to complete. Jorge takes note of the word “was” and questions Renée who remains quiet. (Flip a friggin coin, who knows with this flake.)
At the school, María tells Mauricio to calm down and that he needs to tell Anifer about not living together. After Mauricio worries about how they will tell her and that Anifer will be very hurt, Anifer comes running out and they hug…

After Anifer tells Mauricio that she already told her classmates that they will be returning to their town and that they will all live together for the rest of their lives; Mauricio thinks he is going to cry and María tells Anifer that Mauricio has something to tell her about the trip.
At Renée’s house, Renée looks through the pages of Noel’s journal when she finds a blank page with writing imprints; so she rubs a pencil all over the writing to reveal, “Bosco’s punishment got out of hand; he and Mauricio are now alone. The fire consumed her. Forgive me, Aurora.” Renée immediately goes to Noel and tells him she knows that Fabián was right…it was his fault that Aurora died. She continues that Noel hid for years and faked his own death to avoid being sent to jail…and if he didn’t want to see Mauricio, it was because he felt guilty. Noel doesn’t want to talk about it, but Renée presses on and tells him that it is ironic that he didn’t go to prison but he was locked in and ended up tormenting his own son. After Noel denies tormenting anyone, Renée demands to know why he made Fabián ruin Logatoys. She assumes it was because of vengeance or anger toward Don Bosco. When she asks if Fabián knew that he caused the accident, Noel yells at her to leave him alone. She has nothing to accuse him with and no evidence that he caused the accident…after all it was an accident; he never intended to kill Aurora. When he yells, “ How could I kill the woman I loved!” Renée is dumbfounded…(Oh yikes, somebody was spanking the wrong booty? Who'd a thunk it!)
Outside, near the gazebo, María urges Mauricio to talk to Anifer. When she suggests that she be the one to tell Anifer, Mauricio worries that Anifer’s heart will be broken, but María insists that Mauricio tell Anifer…though it’ll hurt her, she will understand. Mauricio agrees, but thinks they still have a lot of time since there are still a few weeks left of school. María gives up and calls out to Anifer so that they can go into the house.
At the tire shop, Pablo gives Nerón and Flor an update and tells them that Jorge’s support will be very helpful to him and Lili, but he does miss her. Nerón agrees that it’s the right thing to do; and Flor encourages Pablo and tells him they will always be there for him. Pablo comments that Nerón has always been a father to him, but when he is about to say that Flor has been a mother to him, Flor stops him and tells him not to even think of saying it because she is too young to be his mother. Flor then urges Nerón to tell Pablo what he needs to tell him, but Nerón tells her, “Not yet.” As Flor motions that he should tell Pablo, they hear Melina say, “Good Afternoon.” Pablo turns to her and, with much hope in his eyes, asks if his father came with her. (Um...well, kind of, or ..er...sort of yeah, yeah.)

At Mauricio’s house, Renée is still dumbfounded as Anifer and María enter, followed by Mauricio. When they sense the tension, Mauricio asks if they interrupted something important and María takes Anifer to her room to give the others privacy. When Mauricio asks Renée what’s going on, Renée tells Noel, “If you have any bit of a conscience, tell Mauricio the truth….do you want me tell him?”
At the tire shop, Melina tells Pablo that his father felt badly about not being able to see him over there, but his father hasn’t stopped thinking about him. The problem is that he still can’t meet with him. When Pablo asks why, Melina shares that his father is still going through a very rough process…it has nothing to do with the law, so Pablo shouldn’t worry. It’s personal…changes in his life that have not been easy. After Pablo comments that he has no idea what Melina means, Melina responds that very few people understand. What she can tell him is that his father sent her to support him in anything he may need…at least until his grandchild is born. His father did make a promise…that when his grandchild is born, he would come see him. Pablo still doesn’t understand; he would like his father to be the one to call him and tell him all those things…and that he be there. Melina can only respond, “Maybe he can’t be here, but I am here…son.” (DOH!)
At Mauricio’s house, Noel has already told Mauricio the truth and Mauricio doesn’t think it could be true. Noel explains, “I am not trying to justify myself, but I need you to understand what that accident meant to me. When you and Fabián were six years old, Aurora approached me and offered me her support because she saw me drowning, not only in my sadness, but in alcohol. I couldn’t get over Cristina’s death. I confused that closeness with something else.” Mauricio slams his fists on the table and gets up angrily as Noel continues, “That completely destroyed my relationship with Bosco.” Mauricio comments that when his mother died, Fabián was with with him; so Noel adds that it was only because they cared about Fabián, but Noel couldn’t get close to them. After Mauricio sits down, Noel continues, “Cristina was content with not getting pregnant; but your father urged us to get medical intervention…and what for? So that she could die on the day that Fabián was born!” Mauricio chides Noel for blaming his father for Cristina’s death when Noel was truly to blame for his mother’s death. Noel swears it was an accident; he never wanted to hurt anyone. Mauricio deduces that is why Noel faked his own death…so he wouldn’t have to answer to the law or his father. When Noel confesses that Bosco always suspected him, but was afraid that Noel would hurt Mauricio…so Bosco sent Mauricio to a boarding school, Mauricio realizes that his father was only trying to protect him…and he always thought his father wanted him far away from him. Mauricio is furious and wonders if Noel even realizes what he did. (Mau, this would be a perfect time to just go ahead and strangle the old fart. Sorry, Renee.)
At Jorge’s house, Jorge tells Valentina and Lili that he will be going to the hospital to spend the night with Baldo; so the girls assure him that he shouldn’t worry because they will text him if anything happens; and they won’t have any wild parties with sex, alcohol, drugs, or hanky-panky. Jorge smiles and knows they are kidding, but now that the subject of sex has come up, Jorge wants them to know that if they have any questions about sex or what could happen, he is willing to talk to them about it or be a guide for them since he does know something about it. If he doesn’t know the answer, they can look for information together. (But, by the way girls, Kika taught me more in six and a half weeks than I had learned in a lifetime up to then so if you have questions, ask away.) At that, Valentina asks Jorge about Kika and wonders if he doesn’t love her anymore. Jorge admits that he does still love her, but he needs time to become the man Kika deserves. (Yeah, like a whole different human, dummy.) He doesn’t want to be the type of man that is with a woman just because he feels alone or because she offers him company and support; he wants to be the type of man that a woman would be proud of. When Valentina asks how he is going to do that, Jorge responds that he first needs to take charge of his children and be a true mama-papa…to be a papa a toda madre! After the girls smile and go to hug him, Valentina tells him not to take too long because he might lose Kika forever. (Awwww, how sweeeeet!)

At Mauricio’s house, Renée questions Noel and asks if he decided to fake his own death because Bosco knew that he had caused the accident. Noel replies that he faked his death because he didn’t want to go to jail; what he didn’t realize was that he was building his own prison. Mauricio reproaches Noel, “All my life, I blamed myself for my mother’s death; I thought that I had caused the fire because I was playing; I even thought my father blamed me for what happened…though he never told me! And you made your son feel guilty for the death of his mother when the only thing Fabián did was to be born! And now you want to have a family and enjoy life as if nothing happened?” Noel responds, “ I know my destiny is now in your hands. Whatever you do, I will not defend myself.” After Mauricio stands and walks trying to make sense of everything, Renée turns to look at him as tears of devastation and sorrow fill his eyes.
Later, Mauricio watches a video of his father and tells him, “It’s a little late, but I now know that everything you did was only to think of me…that I be safe. You weren’t the perfect father, neither one of us are. I now understand who you loved…with that love that no one knows until they have a child. Oh, papa! We could have talk about so many things. I made a decision that I would have liked to consult with you…it’s about Noel.”
One Month Later…
Veronica kisses Toño good-bye because she has so much work to do at the Cooperative. After Toño reminds her about the End-of-Year Festival at the school, Vero tells him she will definitely be there. Esperanza will be there, too; she just needs to go to her yoga class and she will be ready. Vero wonders how Esperanza is liking the new big bedroom they made for her or if she would prefer to go back to that isolated apartment she had. Esperanza luuurves her new big bedroom and can use that money that she was paying for the apartment to invest in the Cooperative. If she makes some good money off of that, she’ll decide whether she wants to move or not. After Vero tells them that they will be receiving their first installments this day, Toño goes to rush the kids because he has his class to go to.
At Nerón’s house, Pablo and Melina arrive with tamales del Chipilín…a Guatemalan dish. Flor thinks they will like it because all the other food they have brought has been delicious. Nerón asks if they have had any problems with their new apartment; so Pablo assures him they haven’t…the problem they had was electrical, but Pablo already fixed it. While Melina and Pablo go heat up the tamales, Flor comments that Melina has turned out to be a very nice lady. Nerón thinks that it’s probably because she is Pablo’s father’s girlfriend…or else she wouldn’t haven’t come all the way from the USA and stayed. Flor doesn’t think so; she thinks there might be some type of relationship, but she isn’t sure what it is. (Keep thinking, Flo.) Nerón wonders if Florvidente’s powers have returned, but Flor tell him “no, but Flor the Philosopher has her own sixth sense.”
In Miami, Kika is surprised to see Jorge and wonders why he is there. Jorge tells her, “You would always go to Mexico to look for me; and this time, it is only right that I be the one to come looking for you in Miami…to ask you for another chance. There hasn’t been a day that I haven’t thought of you; and if I hadn’t come before, it was because I had to resolve some issues…like not seeing you any more, or that source of peace and tranquility that I said you always were because I now see you as the woman I love…to fullfill our dreams and failures…with our virtues and defects. I know I am not a perfect man, but life has taught me well…the fact is I am very imperfect. And now I am here because I can’t stop loving you.” As he continues, Kika hugs and kisses him telling him that she also loves him…and they kiss some more.
At Rafa’s house, Rodrigo assures Rafa that everything will be fine. Meanwhile, the social worker is in the bedroom talking to Manolita and Bryan. Manolita shares all the things they do with a big smile; so the social worker knows she is very happy. When she questions Bryan, he tells her he is very comfortable there; he especailly likes that his father Rodrigo is a policeman. They are taken to school and have many friends at school and at the cul-de-sac. When finished, the social worker goes out and congratulates R&R for such an impressive acheivement, especially with Bryan. Her report will be in their favor; they just need to go into the office to finalize all the paperwork for the adoption.
At the school, while the parents wait as the children prepare to begin, Mauricio tells María that he can’t get used to the idea of being without his little one, but that’s life; and they have to do it so that things will be well amongst themselves…even though it’s from far away. Renée comments that they don’t have to be together to be united; and you need to be united to live apart. When Renée asks when Mauricio plans to tell Anifer that he won’t be staying with her in the town, Mauricio responds, “ Not yet. I’ll know when the time is right; please don’t pressure me.” María points out that is what Mauricio had said about a month ago, and they are practically leaving already. When she adds that if he doesn’t tell her, then she and Renée will have to tell her, Mauricio pleads with them not to say anything. Just then, Laura welcomes everyone to the festival. They will start with a presentation by Anifer who wrote something on her own. Anifer starts: Hello! This is called, “Mi Papá.” My father is the most disorganized in the world and is more distracted than me. He still can’t comb my hair very well, he gives me my clothes somewhat wrinkled; and his drawings are not as good as he thinks, but I think he is the best dad in the world; although for my friend Neto, his father is the best father in the world. You know what? I don’t need him to be; I just want him to be with me and take care of me…make me laugh; and when I grow up, that he never stop loving me because he is the only father that I want close to me…very close to me, living with me all my life. After she finishes, Anifer runs to her father and gives him a big hug. Mauricio hugs her tightly while feeling torn about having to tell her that they won’t be living together.

At Logatoys, Tania overhears Vero and Toño talking about Mauricio taking María and Anifer back to their town, but not staying with them (Uh-oh!). Tania sneaks away as Mauricio gets everyone’s attention to start his presentation and announces that they have recovered all the Logatoys facilities…which will now be converted to Anitoys. He continues with his speech until he announces that the man who was missing at this meeting has just arrived and he wants the man to say a few words before he (Mau) continues. He introduces, “Genaro! Naahhh! JORGE Turrubiartes!” Jorge goes up and makes his speech about how they started as four associates and now they are all a group of friends who support each other. Now that he is up there, he wants to take the opportunity, which is not typical of him, to ask the woman he loves, in front of everyone, especially his children, if she will marry him. Kika agrees on the condition that Georgie Boy lives with her before and until they get married. Jorge, again in front of his children and his friends that he loves…ACCEPTS!! Everyone cheers and yells out for a KISS…which Kika and Jorge happily oblige! Mauricio then takes the stage and wishes Renée the best of luck in going off to get her masters. He also tells her, in front of everyone, that he loves her so much that she won’t be getting rid of him that easily. After Renée joins him on the stage, she tells everyone, “I have the luck of being with very genuine people whom I have seen change and grow in one of the hardest jobs there is…being a good father of a family. It sounds easy, but not everyone can do it. The best example of this is someone who learned that beyond the biological ties, children grow in the hearts of their fathers…when they grow there, they are there to stay. That crazy, loving, unique and tender father who adores his daughter is this dummy whom I am in love with.” Everyone cheers and again yells out for a KISS…so Mauricio and Renée oblige. Toño then yells out that they want to see a real loving kiss..so again, they oblige…

Somewhere outside, a gruffy-looking, smoking Fabián looks down at a newspaper with the headline that the Logatoys facilities have been taken over. He throws down the cigarette on the newspaper and walks sluggishly as he carries two gasoline cans.
At the reception, Anifer tells Tania that it’s nice that they are all there…together and happy. When Anifer tells her that she will be sad to go, but will be happy that she will be returning to her town and live with her father, Tania tells her that she is sorry to say that Anifer’s father will be coming back. Anifer insists that her father will be staying with her, but Tania assures her that her father is only taking them back and only María and Anifer will be staying in Chiapas…Tania overheard her parents talking about it. Meanwhile, in the next room, Renée asks Mauricio and María if they have a plan as to how they will tell Anifer. Mauricio doesn’t have a set plan. For now they want to take Anifer back so that she can recall her town and see her house. Once they have settled in and Anifer is comfortable, he will tell her that he has to come back. Just then, Anifer asks if it is true that they will be separated. Mauricio goes to her and tells her he loves her, but Anifer asks him if he doesn’t want to live with her anymore. Mauricio assures her that he does; the problem is that he can’t. Anifer retorts that he who promises and doesn’t keep his promise, tells a lie; and if he isn’t going to live with her in Chiapas, he is a liar! Mauricio tries to explain, but Anifer chides Mauricio for not wanting them to be together; then she turns to María and tells her she is a liar too. Anifer tells them all to leave her alone and walks away. Mauricio tries to go after her, but María tells him to leave Anifer alone so she can calm down…Anifer will only get worse if Mauricio tries to talk to her now.
Tania, Neto and Bryan go with Anifer. Tania wonders if Anifer is upset because of what she told her. Neto tells Anifer that it’s like parents getting a divorce; and Bryan tries to get Anifer to go play with them, but Anifer is not in the mood to play. After the children leave, Anifer walks off and ends up in the factory. When she hears a noise, she is spooked; so she drops her doll and runs to hide behind some boxes.

As she sits there, Fabián comes in huffing and lugging the two gasoline cans. He starts pouring gasoline all over…even walking all over it. As Anifer listens, Fabián goes to unlock the control box and turns on all the lights and machinery. After he pours out the second can of gasoline all around, he strikes a match and wickedly laughs before throwing it down. After the fire starts, Fabián lets out a freaky yell of satisfaction…and the fire starts to engulf the room. Meanwhile, everyone is still upstairs. As Mauricio wonders where Anifer could have gone, they hear a small explosion. Mauricio yells, “No, not again!” and rushes down to the factory. Once in the corridor of the factory, Mauricio yells out to Fabián and grabs him. Fabián thought he would be as satisifed as when his father caused the fire, but he feels nothing! Everyone else comes rushing in and sees the flames. After Mauricio calls Fabián an imbecile and tells him that his daughter could be inside the factory, Mauricio runs through the flames to look for Anifer. The other men force everyone else out of the corridor as Fabián stands frozen watching as Mauricio struggles to open the factory doors. Mauricio manages to open the doors, but it’s Fabián who runs in to look for Anifer. Fabián yells out to Anifer and trudges through the factory until he hears Anifer yelling out to her father.

Fabián sees the doll on the floor so he knows he’s close and continues on until he finds Anifer. Once he finds her, Anifer stands and looks fearfully at Fabián, but Fabián goes toward her.

Outside, Nerón tries to put out the fire in the corridor with an extinguisher as Fabián comes toward Mauricio with Anifer and tells him to take her. After Fabián puts his weight on the door so it won’t close, Mauricio takes Anifer and runs to leave her with María and Renée. He then runs back to help Fabián, but a beam falls on Fabián and he yells out in pain. Mauricio refuses to leave Fabián there and yells out for help as Fabián tells Mauricio to take care of his daughter…and that he always wanted to be better than Mauricio. Mauricio tells Fabián that he saved Anifer…she is safe. As Mauricio continues to yell for help, Fabián thanks him for teaching him so much (Seriously?? Mau taught Fabian?? Whennn?) and tells him again to take care of Anifer. Mauricio insists on taking Fabián out, but Toño comes and pulls Mauricio away from the imminent flames. Mauricio screams, “Noooo!” as the flames jut out through the door leaving Fabián inside…He’s m-e-e-elting… (ok, really? Mauricio and Fabián had to use all their force to hold the freakin’ door open; yet when Mauricio was pulled away, the door stayed open…)

At Noel’s house, Noel tells Renée that with Fabián’s death, life is punishing him for everything he has done (Why?? He never wanted or loved Fabián….that’s worth much less than the 50,000 pesos that Fabián paid for Mauricio’s attempted assassination!)…life has no mercy on him. Fabián was estranged from him, Renée is leaving the country…both of them are leaving him alone (Awww, poor devil!). Renée asks if he sees his children as security for his old age and if he thinks that they have the obligation to take care of him just because he created them. When she adds that she has known him for a short time, Noel reminds her that he wanted them to live together and he tried to give her his last name…give her all that was his. Renée wonders what happened to his time, his caring, the love of a father from the day she was born…he’s several years too late (♪♪ And it’s too late, baby, now it’s too late…♪♪). She has every right to say thank you, but she doesn’t want him in her life. As she starts to leave, Noel asks, “Well then, would you have preferred to not know that I am your father?” Renée responds, “As a child I would have given anything to have you..to know how it felt to have my father hug me, play with me, and make me feel like I was important to him.” When Noel asks, “ Then why don’t you forget about your mastery program and stay?” Renée replies, “Because my father doesn’t want me; you just want someone to take care of you. You want to control my life just as you did with Fabián.” When Noel charges that Fabián killed his mother, Renée remarks, “No, you had no right to blame him for that. It was quite the contrary…you supposedly loved Fabián’s mother; then you fell in love with Mauricio’s mother.” When Noel tells her that Cristina and Aurora have nothing to do with this, Renée wonders about her mother…because, if Noel recalls, he said that her mother was the one who had loved him the most…she was born only because of her mother’s love, not because he loved her mother. Noel thinks Renée is confusing things; he wants to be her father…the father he never was for Fabián, but if she doesn’t let him, what can he do? Renée then tells him, “Look, now I thank you for not being with me because my life would have been like Fabián’s if your hate would have limited me. The truth is he was your only son and you never cared how he felt…and the father who doesn’t appreciate the love that his son wants to give him doesn’t deserve to be called a father.” When Renée tells Noel that she will talk to Jorge about getting him permission to leave the house to attend Fabián’s funeral…and supposes that Noel does want to attend, Noel remains silent.
At Jorge’s house, Jorge is amazed that he will be a grandfather in a few months. Kika thinks he will be the handsomest grandfather…and she will be the sexiest grandmother. After everyone laughs, Jorge asks Melina if she will be staying until the baby is born, Melina assures them that she will stay. The other kids are excited that they will be an aunt/uncle. Sammy (who doesn’t seem phased by his mother’s exit) then tells everyone that whoever is last to the table will have to wash dishes…and they all rush off, except Jorge and Melina.
At a park, Renée and Mauricio walk along as they talk about the pain of losing a child. Renée appreciates that Mauricio didn’t turn in Noel for the death of his mother. Mauricio knows that Noel had no intention of killing his mother…Noel has enough punishment with Fabián’s death (says who??); and Mauricio doesn’t want to hold on to any resentments. He thinks about Fabián… how could Fabián not inherit Noel’s hate? How could he not repeat that history if he had no one who loved him? Renée thinks that some children tend to repeat their parent’s history even though their intention is the complete opposite. Mauricio would like it if there were a career in fatherhood…it would be good to have a license for it…although the best teachers are life and the children…they are the ones who make fathers. Renée comments that Mauricio looks much more handsome when he gets so profound and philisophical. After they tell each other that they love each other, Mauricio reminds Renée that there is only one day left before she leaves for Maryland… so he is going to take advantage of that time. As he rushes off, Renée pulls him back for a kiss…

Quickie Time Warp—
Mauricio and Renée are in bed together post coitus. When Mauricio comments that he isn’t going to let much time pass before they are together again, Renée adds that there is no mastery program, distance or time that will end this. When she returns, she will spend every minute of her time with him. As she looks at him, Mauricio thinks that she just wants to take advantage of him…again. Renée agrees..so they go for another round.
The Next Day—
At the airport, Renée says her good-byes and tells Anifer she will miss her very much. She then turns to Mauricio who also tells her he will miss her and asks her to please not fall in love with Chip, Mike or any other guy who wears a cowboy hat...and he sends his regards to Arielito. Mauricio plans to go see her as soon as possible. Renée understands that the Cooperative is Mauricio’s priority. Mauricio agrees since they have to build the company from ashes (literally). After they call her flight, Renée worries that this is not going to be easy…long-distance relationships are very complex. When Mauricio tells her, “Too bad. You decided to go and leave this hunk of a man/Latino galán/succesful businessman,” Renée wonders if he will ever get serious, but Mauricio is serious…he tells Renée, “You are the woman of my life; and even if you go to Timbuktu, I will continue to wait for you.” (Another ‘Awww, how sweeet moment…they shoulda played “Right Hear Waiting” by Richard Marx). After they kiss, Renée walks away and turns back for a last good-bye…

Days Later—
At Chiapas, Mauricio comments to Anifer that he is starting to like living in the forest. After Anifer tells Mauricio to close his eyes so she can go get something that will remind him of her, she goes to get a frog and gives it to him. They spend more days together watching butterflies and spending time at the river until the day comes that Mauricio has to return to the city. Mauricio tells Anifer that he will call her thousands of times a day. After Anifer tells him that she will still be sad, Mauricio reminds her that things can’t always be the way we want them…we just have to get along the best way possible. Anifer understands that he can’t live there…he wouldn’t be happy; he would be more content in the city. Mauricio thinks he couldn’t have better luck and thanks Anifer for going to the city to help him. As they hug, Mauricio asks Anifer to always be as special as she always is…he loves her.

[Mexican Version: At Toño’s house, Toño practices his comedy routine and shows some exasperation. Vero assures him that he will do fine; and Esperanza tells him to just try his best. Toño sarcastically remarks that he appreciates all of Esperanza’s support and encouragement. Esperanza reassures him that all will go well…he has been saying jokes since he was in the crib…some bad, some good, but most were really bad! Toño thanks her for giving him such accolades and adds that it’s not a matter of just saying jokes; it’s a type of exam, like a monologue where he has to impress everyone because the place will be full. Vero thinks that if they laugh it’ll be good, but Toño reiterates that he can’t just make them laugh; he has to impress them…and reach their hearts.]
At Nerón’s house, Melina presents a cake to Pablo to celebrate his acceptance to the university. Pablo thanks everyone because, if it had not been for their support, he wouldn’t have achieved it. Before Melina goes to the kitchen for some plates, she asks about Chicarcas; so Flor explains that they left him to tend to the tire shop, but she will call him to join them. Melina starts to go for the plates, but Nerón stops her because he wants her there to also witness something. He motions to Pablo who doesn’t get it at first, but then understands what Nerón is referring to. While Pablo goes to get the required item, Nerón asks Flor to come closer to him. After she closes her eyes and Pablo hands Nerón the item, Nerón tells her she can open her eyes and he starts, “I want to take advantage of this opportunity to... [Nerón gets down on one knee] …to ask for your hand, Florezota.”

Flor gets down to his level and asks if he is serious; so Nerón assures her that he is.He asks if they can go ahead and sign the papers so that she and his little piece of camphor can be protected. When Flor gets nervous and asks why he is talking about protecting them again, Nerón replies that it’s not because of his sons, but he doesn’t want his family pulling out hairs when he hangs up his tennis shoes. Nerón asks if she accepts, but Flor asks the others if they think this man will hang up his shoes soon….she thinks he is probably going to end up burying all of them. When Nerón asks her again if she will marry him…

Flor responds, “Yesss!” (The background music is the song Nerón sang to Flor when he asked her to come back home.)
At a club, Toño goes up to do his comedy routine based on being a father and everything it entails. He seems to have a slow start, but the audience starts to respond.
While he continues, Mauricio arrives at his house and looks around feeling the emptiness. He picks up the papa/mama dolls and holds them close to his heart as he thinks of Anifer.

Toño continues his routine and talks about children getting older and the things they do…
And there seems to be a passage of time as he continues...
·        Jorge is at home having dinner with all his children and Kika. Everyone is happy and smiling at each other.
·        At Anitoys, Gladys and Tina, the other secretary, are lighting up the new Anitoys sign.
·        At the park, R&R play baseball with Bryan and Manolita.
·        Nerón and Flor get married… (Don’t blink or you’ll miss it!!)

·        Toño and the kids are painting the living room while Esperanza and Vero are on their laptops.
·        Mauricio goes to visit Anifer. He then goes to visit Renée in Maryland.
Once Toño finishes with the statement that they should be “Papás a Toda Madre,” everyone claps.
Two months later—
At the hospital, Jorge asks Melina if Melchor will be coming to meet the baby. Melina responds that he will be coming; she advised him that the baby would be born today. He may appear at any moment…he should be around there. Jorge has doubts; he thinks Melchor will not show up. Melina doesn’t know, but she would feel better if she had someone to talk to…and tell them what she is about to do. Jorge offers himself; they haven’t known each other for very long, but if she needs to talk to someone, he is there. Melina starts to cry and tells Jorge that she is going to confide in him…because as she has said before, he is an intelligent man…and sensitive. She tells him, “Melchor, Pablo’s father, has always been close to him…but is very afraid of Pablo’s rejection.” Jorge comments that he knows Pablo…he is hoping to see his father; Jorge doesn’t think there will be a problem. As Melina tells Jorge that he shouldn’t be too sure, Kika looks on and listens. Melina continues, “In the past, Pablo’s father made a decision…a decision that changed his life radically and changed him into the person he always dreamed of being…I don’t know if you understand me.” Jorge admits that he doesn’t understand, so Melina confesses, “I am Melchor. Melchor, Pablo’s father, is me.”

As Melina cries, Kika continues to look on and Jorge has no idea where to look or what to say, but he tells Melina that she can be sure that if she needs some type of help, he is there. He understands it’s a very complicated situation for her and offers that the day she decides to talk to Pablo about all of this..if she needs him to be with her for support, she can count on him. Melina thanks Jorge as Kika smiles proudly. Just then, Pablo shouts that the baby is a boy! Melina goes to hug Pablo and congratulates him. Kika congratulates Georgie boy and tells him she couldn’t help but overhear his conversation with Melina…she will support Melina also. Pablo then comes to tell Jorge tha Lili is fine..everything went well. Pablo and Jorge hug each other tightly.
Months later—
There is a birthday party for Mauricio at the cul-de-sac. Mauricio thanks everyone…he appreciates everthing they have done for him. He also wants to toast to “Genarito…nah, nah, nah, Jorgito, Jorge’s grandson.” Toño tells everyone that he just got confirmation for another show; and Kika announces that they will be moving to a bigger house close to the cul-de-sac. When the kids ask Jorge about it, Jorge tells them that he has recuperated the money for the twins and he has some savings, so…why not! Everyone cheers. While Toño and Jorge leave to go get something, Nerón comments that he is concerned that Milady still doesn’t talk. As he picks her up, Milady says, “Papa,” so Nerón gets excited and everyone claps. Just then, Jorge and Toño bring out a huge cake and everyone starts to sing “Las Mañanitas” to Mauricio. Mauricio then makes a wish and blows out all the candles. Sammy wants to know what he wished for, but Mauricio refuses to say, though everyone probably knows who he wishes was there. Just then the mariachis start to play “Si Nos Dejan.” As Mauricio walks over to see the mariachis, he sees Renée among them and Anifer comes running to him. Mauricio is quite surprised and elated that they are there and thanks them. Renée and Mauricio kiss and then they both kiss Anifer. Right afterwards, Renée whispers to Mauricio that they are going to be parents, but Anifer overhears and is overjoyed that she will be a sister! Mauricio shouts to everyone, “I’m going to be a father!” Everyone cheers and goes to hug the parents-to-be. The camera zooms out to show all the friends hugging happily and…

Well, IT'S OVER!!! YAYYY!! The first hour and a half was pretty good but then it seemed like we were on FFW and everything was just thrown in to finish the darn thing. Oh well,..

Regardless of the show, I did enjoy the PATIO and all the comments!! I do want to thank our awesome leader, Alfredo, who always goes over and beyond the call of duty. I also want to thank Jarifa and Cynthia for their great work and dedication. There is no doubt that this team is VERY conscientious when it comes to providing thorough and timely recaps. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such a fantastic team.

I also want to thank Kirby, Susy, Diana, JudyB, Andy, Steve, Niecie, Doris and all the other visitors/lurkers who dropped in. I know I sound like a broken record, but you all were the ones who motivated me to continue with this so-called romance-comedy.

I will be posting discussion pages for "La Bella y Las Bestias" so I do hope to 'see' everyone there...even if you just drop in occasionally to say 'hi' and let us know how you are doing.

It's late...so more tomorrow!

Thanks, RGVChick, for another outstanding recap. It was very comprehensive and enjoyable. I read somewhere that at the last minute they cut a week of episodes out so that might have been the reason for the hodge pudge feeling at the end.

A few thoughts on this one:

Lots of happy endings but: When did everyone get so smart? Were they just playing dumb all this time?

Well, almost everyone . . . One last question: Why would anyone—like her mother— let Anifer wander around the toy factory only to be almost killed by Fabián?

I was so glad that Renée called Noél out on his lies.

It was good seeing Rodrigo have a realistic response after the bullets hit his bulletproof vest.

My favorite part was Toño doing his comedy routine and it giving structure to what had happened to the characters. That was just an example of how much better the writing could have been. Too bad we had to wait until the end to see something like that.

All in all, the novela was okay but it could have been so much better with the great cast and themes they had to work with.

More later.

JudyB, didn’t we just see those gasoline containers in “Corazón que miente”? LOL These writers just love arson!

Rgv Chickie, thank you for a really great and detailed recap! You not only covered what we got to see, but you covered things Looneycision cut. And I loved the comments whether they were yours or Ghost's or team work. It's also really great that you participate and comment on the patio, and I especially want to thank you for answering some of my questions, I very much appreciate it.

Well, I'm glad it's over, though quite disappointed too. Not so much in this ending, it wasn't terrible, but the TN definitely broke down quite some time ago and never recovered. It's a real shame, because they could have made something very nice, but didn't. Looneycision's awful cutting of scenes or episodes made it even worse.

Flor was a knockout last night! And I am so glad she and Nerón finally got married, though just why it was so important to her and not to him, I will never understand. And you are absolutely right about the brevity of that scene. A much nicer wedding would have been appreciated; we were waiting for this wedding for months and then it's short and simple, over in a minute. We wuz robbed!

Chickie, especially with Jorge and Pablo, Jorge and Baldo, Jorge and whoever, I was right there with you thinking "Awwww, how sweeeeet!" I just don't know if you also then thought, "Bleh!", but I sure did. Jorge the uber-liberal, and now Melina's confidant. You've come a long way, Georgie Boy!

But so many, many loose threads with this ending! Shirley nobody thinks a second season would be green-lighted? Please tell me no!

:-)

andy

Thank You RGV Chik, nice work. You have always gone above and beyond with your recraps, and this was no exception. I appreciate how you get the left out parts which were shown in the Mx version so this senseless TN makes SOME sense.

Andy is so right about Jorge, like 'Wha Happened?' did he get a brain transplant or did being weaned off Kika for a few months and celibate sans Dulcer bring him around?

Tono and Vero and Tono's miserable useless life / career. FF I'd rather watch a squirrel take a bathroom break. Their kids were cute.

Neron and Flo. She is hot with the frizzy wig. Otherwise ZZZZ

Rather than Renee, Kika was the female star of this show, I wonder if that was the intent.

As a matter of fact, I found myself only interested in the Anifer Mau Renee Noel Fab Maria story. It was bittersweet Mau telling Anifer that their time was special, but like most things in life, it must end sometime, because it really is so true, even life itself.

So Mau gets LogaToys back, Fab is gone, Noel may as well be, Maria and Ani back in the 'forest', and the cul-de-sac is rewound back to happiness.

The happy ending with Renee expecting just seemed forced/contrived.

BUT I have really enjoyed this patio. All of you here are sweet, caring, understanding, nonjudgemental, and we see each other like I see the little frog who lives out front by the light. Love 'em warts and all.

kirbo

Thank you for your recap, RgvChick, and ALL the recaps you’ve given us. These are hard work and I truly appreciate it!!! I also loved all your snarky comments because there was quite a lot to snark over.
And yes, so much sweetness last night, we’ve all got a sugar high. I'm still convinced Mrs. Jimenez's eighth grade class was writing this story, or at least most of it.

I won't miss this telenovela but I'll miss our time on the Patio together. Not sure I'll watch LBYLB but I'm giving CQM a concerted effort. I'm sure I'll like it more once Oliveras is a secondary character. His facial expression just .... oh never mind.

Well, we got one wedding --- Flor’s. Yaaayyyyy!!! (and ITA, AndyBanda, we wuz cheated because it was so quick)

After several months off the chemo, Flor should have enough hair by now for a pixie cut, so why is she still wearing the wigs?

And Mau finally got Jorge’s name right! Yaaayyyyy!!! I had to re-wind to make sure I heard that right. LOL

Hubby was watching this with me and even he said Fabian should have caught fire. Hold the phone, Alice!!! Too much gasoline was splashed on his pants legs and shoes. ~major eye roll over plot~

I’ve got to say, Mark Tacher does “deranged sociopath” very well. Impressive!

Jorge has really made progress, evolving into a compassionate (well, as best he can) human being.

After escaping near death from Fabian’s attack, it seemed so very odd that in the next scene Mau, Renne, et all were calm, as if they were on Valium. Not concerned about a madman running loose out there who would come back.

There was one scene with Mau in a puffy vest, Ani playing in the background in a hooded coat, and Maria is standing there in a dark green halter top and sleeves held up with elastic. QTH???

The whole Noél thing was just ridiculous. The guy needs to be locked up for life.

Doris: This was a Dulce-free episode.

Good morning Patio! And Rgv Chick, hope you are still asleep. Though when you have animals, sleeping in is just not an option.

Given how many responsibilities you have at home, I am just so impressed with the level of detail you gave us on this very rushed two-hour squeeze of an ending. And Jarifa I believe you when you say they cut out a whole week of episodes. There was just a lot we had to intuit. And while the writing and overall concept wasn't stellar, I still feel that it's unfair to the writers to hack and savagely cut the episodes at the end. Why not just schedule the shows so there's time for everything. Do. Not. Understand.

But enough kvetching, time to thank Rgv Chick and Ghost for all their hard work.

Loved the refrain "Awwwww, how sweeeet!! And yes, we were all on sugar overload and in dire need of insulin by the time this was over.

Also enjoyed the dissing of Mauricio's brain power.

"Mauricio's frailty is only above the chin." (true, lucky for us and Renee that what's below the chin is soooooo fine.)

And the thought of Mauricio protecting everybody in the privada? "I wouldn't send you out to kill a mosquito." Ouch. Tough remark Rgv Chick. But true. He's cute but no knight in shining armor. Thank God for a real tough guy...Rodrigo.

And thanks also for noting that the background music during the proposal was the song Neron sang to Flor when he asked her to come back home.

You went above and beyond on this Rgv Chick. Made sense of the senseless jumble, peppered it with lots of snark to make it entertaining, and throughout all the episodes had a wonderful way of affirming all the commenters and making them feel welcome and appreciated.

As Kirby noted, we do have a very nice group here. My favorite virtual family room for sure.

And Jarifa, I too laughed when I saw those dang gasoline jugs. Guess they're part of the big warehouse holding furniture and knick-knacks that we see recycled through many a telenovela. And recycled plots as well. What's a telenovela without an incredible fire or two and beloved characters in distress?

Well. It's over. And I'm relieved. A much improved Kizzie is sitting on my lap as I type this. Not sure she's going to last through Bella y Bestias, but for sure she will make it until our son gets back from vacation.

So happy endings all around.

Ah and another awesome photo Kirbo with a deep deep blue sky. Just lovely. Overcast here and more rain due. Very green and lush and overgrown. I'll be missing all that abundant greenery when Winter comes and we're back to gray and brown...so no complaining!

JudyB - So comforting to know Kizzie is improved, just for today. Please give her a hug for me.

One thing I noticed was that this not-very-tradition telenovela did not end with una gran boda. Instead, the Renee tells her not-husband (are they even engaged to be married?) that they're going to be parents.

Thanks JudyB. Another in my series (ha ha) of interesting photos of uninteresting things.

But caught just right here in FloriDUH, even a cloud or two against a cobalt sky with a couple of jealous trees trying to sneak in makes a nice shot.

And I mucho agree our Rockin Girl Volcano recrapper is hard to beat.

The unwritten PSA in this one seems to be, Hey, pump those kids out, to hell with getting married, or providing a stable environment into which to bring children, or worrying about how to feed them, etc..

And if you can, plop them out across the border so somebody else can pay for all your fun.

I will not watch another Gringo hating show, nor will I grace another man hater program with my eyes and wit.

I'm a pretty forgiving human, but even a dumb dog will not sit and let you poop on him.

Good Morning, Patio Pals!

Thanks again to everyone! Your kind reviews and words of wisdom and insight are like adrenaline to me....or maybe honey since I'm so attracted to this patio :-) Ghost, who luuurves to read your comments and feedback, also thanks you. I'm so glad I found a friendly snarky ghost whose generosity and wit abound....I don't know what I would have done without that help. THANK YOU!!

Jarifa, "Lots of happy endings but: When did everyone get so smart?" I'm not sure, but I think Andy must have sent them some of his smart pills :-) There must have been some sensitivity pills in there for Jorge, too. Of all the people Melina decides to confide in, she picks Jorge. I was pleasantly surprised that Jorge kept his composure and reacted accordingly, but I would have thought that Melina would be more likely to confide in Neron since he was the one who was communicating with her the most.

Andy, "And I am so glad she and Nerón finally got married, though just why it was so important to her and not to him, I will never understand." I don't understand either. I was a bit disappointed in Flor since she didn't seem to notice that Neron's primary reason for marrying her is so that she and Milady were protected. Though the song was playing in the background, Neron should have professed his love to Flor...IMO.

Kirby, "So Mau gets LogaToys back, Fab is gone, Noel may as well be, Maria and Ani back in the 'forest', and the cul-de-sac is rewound back to happiness." In a nutshell...YUP!! Others that are gone without any anvils or justice juice are Dulce and Falcon. It seems that the writers are not very keen on anvils. So what happened to Yolanda??? maybe she's off in Miami with Falcon ...HA!!

JudyB, thank you for being so kind and considerate. I DO have lots of work here at my farm and now that the predator has been coming around, my nighttime rest is often times interrupted. It was actually the Patio that kept me going; and Ghost's help was a Godsend, but now things are so hectic that I've decided to cut back on the recapping. Oh and I am so glad Kizzie is so much better; it is such a relief to know that our furry friends are going to be with us for a bit longer (or more) than we expected. My prayers for you and Kizzie continue.

Doris, "Hubby was watching this with me and even he said Fabian should have caught fire." I thought so too!! But to make sense of it, I told myself he was wearing nonflammable clothes and shoes.

Andy, if they ATTEMPT to make a second season for this, I'll know that the writer's are truly insane and must have a lot of money to waste!

Thank you so much, Chickie, for this final recap and for all your excellent , detailed recaps. I can understand only a small fraction of what is said , so I would be lost without the recaps.

It was an odd show, wasnt it? Somewhere along the line the writers seemed to change the leads from Maury and Renee to Jorge and Kiki. They seem to be the ones who went on the traditional hero',s journey to better forms of themselves.I think that when I suspected that Maria was alive that in the end Ani would return to her and Maury and Renee would marry and have their own baby. PSA#,2341 ..You don't have to get married to have a baby. Remember that song "First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes x with the baby carriage!" Well, not anymore folks. .brave New world.

I only watched until 10 pm because I had to get up at 5.30am today ...last day of school . I recorded the rest of the show and will watch later. I will say that my favorite part was Jorge telling Pablo that he was family and the sweet smile on Pablo's face.

Kirby..I agree with all you said about the patio. I really think that we are kind and tolerant and caring of each other . We probably know each other better than some people who are actually around us in real life!!!

Loved the photo...kirby...blue is my favorite color ,and I love blue and green together. Your photos were always something positive to look forward to.

I will be here for B and B. Hope that it is more than kicking and wigs.

Gosh yes, Rgv Chick, I hope that there is no second season. These good folks have used up all my patience and I'm sure yours as well.

Just one thought....although Nerón did not mention love per se, the fact that he wants Flor and Milady to be protected IS LOVE. Love is not just warm, squishy feelings but making sure loved ones are safe, protected, cared for....

You love your animals, and the proof is that you do all you can to protect them from harm, giving up sleep and dragging through your days exhausted I'm sure....in order to watch out for them. Means a lot more than all the strokes and pats and kindly thoughts in the world...although those are important too.

When we love others, whether four-footed or two, we want the Best Possible Outcome for them. My husband knows that when I learned new ways of cooking and preparing meals in order to protect him from another heart attack, that meant a lot more than a lot of "I love you's" and sentimental cards. At least I hope so! And Nerón finally recognizing that he might not be around forever for his darling wife and child and preparing accordingly is Love indeed.

At least in my practical opinion.

Now hoping you can get in a nap or two before the nighttime vigil begins again querida amiga Chica.

First, thanks and thanks again to the wonderful recappers for this TN: RGV Chick, Jarifa, Cynthia, Alfredo, Ghost and anyone else I missed. The recap coverage and patio comments were a bright spot for me in the past 9 weeks.

(For over two months, my now 1 year-old granddaughter is in charge of my time. She and my son are living in my house, with her mother spending most afternoons with us. There's also the oxygen system and feeding tube that came with her. I'm legally obligated to supervise the baby's care, so that's the priority.)

So, with all our papas in the privada learning to be better fathers and our villain, Fabian, extinguished, we have closure. Sort of. I did enjoy Mau and Kika. Kika had a good heart and good sense under her frivolous exterior. Mau was stupid (many times) but he had a childlike sense of playfulness that I enjoyed.

Doris, I hope your Kizzie continues to feel better. I don't think I'll watch La Bella fighting her bestias. With the big sports championships done and this TN over, not sure what I'll watch.

Kirby: I'm happy that Kika & Jorge will get married & living together. But will they stay in the DF or move to Miami, FL ?

La Paloma, I can well understand how busy you must have been these last two months--caring for a little one is exhausting no matter what one's age. In this case, with the special medical needs, Grandmother is truly my hero.

The family situation sounds complicated. And in many ways that was what this telenovela was about. There are many different kinds of families, many different kinds of love. All are important and worthy of respect.

Hoping that as time goes on, all of you, mother, father, child and above all Grandmother la Paloma, will thrive and get stronger and healthier with each day. Que Dios os bendiga.

Judy, thanks for the good wishes and an apology for misnaming Kizzie's mama.

Also forgot to mention how much I enjoyed Flor's character. She was a firecracker and a welcome relief from some of the whiny ones.

Thanks Susy and La Paloma!

Susy, yes, in deed, a very odd show with just about every PSA under the sun--some just touched upon while others were hammered in. There were many sidelines that were brought up, quickly resolved then just dropped (e.g., Neto's ADHD, Flor's cancer)...precious time that could have been devoted to the main story lines. And yes, the writer's did seem to flip the leads...over and over again.

JudyB, you are right...there are so many ways to say I love you and I care about you...this patio is the PERFECT example! The caring and support offered through kind, thoughtful words and "just being there" for one another is exceptional.

La Paloma, "Mau was stupid (many times) but he had a childlike sense of playfulness that I enjoyed." I can honestly say that the thing I liked most about Mau/Sebastian was his ability to use the various facial expressions to convey his feelings...without words; once he opened his mouth...AY! AY! AY!

Steve, Kika and Jorge will be buying a house there in Mexico near the cul-de-sac.

La Paloma, your family is blessed to have you. May God give you the strength and faith to continue supporting your family...and may HE smile down upon your granddaughter and make her stronger each day.

I'm glad this TN is over. There were some good moments, Renée in her wedding dress taking the bus home; Renée and Mauricio kissing in the factory and the rose petals falling on them, and their admitting that it was corny; Flor, in anything, doing anything, and the same for Yolanda; etc, etc. In fact all the women other than Dulce were good, even Esperanza who always looked like she had just finished a photo shoot for a women's clothing catalog. Kika became Super-Kika. And all the kids were really cute!

All the men were out and out bad, like Fabián and Noel, or were very deeply flawed, with the possible exception of Rodrigo. Huh! How did he escape the rampant male idiocy? And, no, it's not that, since Rafa did not escape it.

But Mau was the super-idiot, committing illegal acts and giving away his business just so he wouldn't be separated from his daughter, then is separated from her anyway, and then winds up leaving her in Chiapas with her mom and the phony butterflies. What?

Well, I intend to watch Bella y Bestias via the DVR, using FFWD on any parts I don't care to see. If there's enough eye candy I'll continue watching, and if not I will have an extra hour a day to play with.
Maybe Kirby and I could do a special, very abbreviated, recap covering only what Esmeralda wears in each episode, with particular attention to garters.

:-)

La Paloma...I am sending lots of good thoughts and prayers your way.As Judy says, caring for any infant takes so much care and attention, and medical issues make it even harder. Courage.

Judy, I am glad that Kizzie is feeling better. My dear friend who has lung cancer has had many cats and one of her favorites was named Kizzie.

I am sure that the patio peeps all have life experiences that could be written into a telenovela.Right now, mine are dealing with child custody issues and selling the family farm. Hub met with the local auctioneer today to take and sell the furniture. My sister , hub, my daughter, and I have been slowly throwing and sorting things. We were told that Mennonites often are looking for farms to buy in this area. They are good farmers and stewards of the land. I am grieving . It is like losing my parents and grandmother all over again.....such is life...and telenovelas.

On Pablo’s father, was the reason that Pablo went after his father b/c he completely abandoned the family and Pablo wanted to know what happened to him, or was it that Melina continued to financially maintain and support the family but just wasn’t communicating with them any longer once the sex change took place? If the former, why did Melina start a family to begin with? She told Jorge at the hospital that his lifelong dream was to become a woman, so why did he marry and have children, to only to abandon them all when the circumstances changed in his favor?

The novela definitely fell after Renee began to pursue her master’s program, and Maria and Ariel entered the picture. It was basically held up by Kika and Jorge after that. It was sad that Mauricio had to give up Anifer to Chiapas, but what more could he do if Maria wanted to go back? The scene when Mauricio visits Anifer in Chiapas showed a very deep contrast between the rural town and Mexico City. It’s sad to say, but Maria is doing Anifer a disservice by raising her there when she can get a better education with Mauricio at the capital.

I dislike that we didn’t see what happened to Dulce, nor the kids’ reactions to being abandoned again, particularly Sammy. Dulce really never loved her kids: they were just a means to an end, just like Noel with Fabian and Renee. At least now they all have Kika to step in for them, and Jorge finally stepped up to the plate. However, I’m not so sure if he really actually changed from within, and became more liberal like Kika. I think he still has his morals (for better or worse, despite his faults), but he’s learned to be tolerant now, accepting that things will go in whatever which way, and just needs to make the best of it. He seemed to be humbled, but sedated as well.

Regarding Flor and Neron, besides the fact that he suddenly realized marriage protects her and Milady, I think Neron is just settling down. This character made no sense to me throughout the series. He loves Flor, but for some reason never felt a desire to marry her? He was constantly afraid of dying and leaving them unprotected, even found her a potential future suitor, but he couldn’t even give her the basic protection of marriage earlier? Now he finally asks for marriage, but ruins the moment by making the marriage proposal seem like a beneficial transaction following his death? Flor deserved a way better proposal than that!

That being said, I think marriage isn’t as important anymore because the socio-cultural atmosphere is much more relaxed now than before (in many developed countries, at least). For example; single mothers aren’t shunned anymore, and no one bats an eye at illegitimate children either, whether the product of a stable/unstable/nonexistent relationship or even an amante situation. As opposed to many years ago, illegitimate children now have the right to carry the father’s last name, regardless of the parents’ marital status. Civil marriage at one point was essentially viewed as a transaction meant to protect the wife and future children, but the economy, the working woman, child support and accessibility to social programs changed that. Now people realize/accept that marriage doesn’t guarantee stability or protection, as many marriages fail within themselves, without ending in divorce.

Thank you to the recappers for your hard work and dedication to make this novela more fun than it ended up being. Hopefully the next one, or Mi marido tiene mas familia will be much better.

Maia

Thank you so much RGV Chick for taking on this two hour finale! You did an excellent job of putting it all together. I love how you divide things up into subsections with subtitles. Oh and that opening picture was the best one! I would have used that screenshot myself. 

Well, I am glad we had at least one wedding. But you are right, if you blinked your eyes for a few seconds, or walked away from the TV for 10 seconds, you would have missed it.

Just in time for Father’s Day: I have always liked how most novelas honor the family. I liked how Toño’s stand-up routine honored fathers. In our society, it seems like fathers are forgotten and many times not honored. Especially when I watch American TV shows, most of the time fathers are the ones who are the foolish ones of the family. They are made fun of and not respected. Good fathers are very needed in the family, children need their daddies! The role of a good daddy helps the child develop into a well adjusted adult. I loved how Mau went from a selfish womanizer to the man he became a real father to Anifer, who had been growing up fatherless. Mau’s development into the man he became, to become a father in every possible way was extremely heartwarming.

I loved the changes in Jorge as well. He began as very stilted and very rigid. He was ashamed of his past and hid it for many years, however he learned to try to make right what was wrong and bring his family together. I could see the fierce love he had for his four children. It was also heartwarming to see how Val and Sammy learned to love their older siblings and vice versa. At the end, when Melina admitted to whom she really was, I was glad to see Jorge’s reaction, it was very tender and merciful. I have done a lot of research on transgenders and know for a fact that many suffer from regret after they have their surgery. It appeared that Melina was carrying some regret and did not have anyone to talk to. I know there is a very high suicide rate among transgenders (as high as 40%) even after transitioning and surgery. So what Melina needs is some love and understanding and I am glad this story showed that Jorge was understanding with her and told her that she could count on him.

I loved the ending where Renée showed up with the Mariachi band and let Mau know she was expecting. But I wanted them to have a wonderful wedding. We needed another wedding and some more celebration.

Oh, I have a question: That mariachi band—what was the name of that song they were playing? I know the song is a very popular one, I’ve heard it all my life and remember my parents dancing to that song.

Thank you, Cynthia and Maia, for your very insightful comments...always a joy to read.

Cynthia, the name of the song is “Si Nos Dejan”

Thanks RGV Chick on the name of the song. I found the artist that my parents used to dance to and listen to. It's Jose Alfredo Jimenez. It brings tears to my eyes because I miss my father so much. This was one of his songs that he loved.

Rgv Chick –

Wow! This recap is a real tour-de-force! You did a terrific job.

I have just peeked into this patio time to time, so it’s just now, as you all are commenting about the finale, that I see that you didn’t have a very high opinion of this novela.

I’ve actually enjoyed it a lot. I found the ending particularly striking as so many telenovela rules were blasted away.

First off, the women’s choices were valued – they didn’t have to conform to old standards, or sacrifice their goals/happiness to fulfill them. Mau would have liked to have had Anifer with him always and Renee too. Anifer wanted that too. But Renee wanted to get her master’s, and Maria wanted to live in the countryside. At least Mau had lots of friends to be with, but he had to wait for Renee and just visit Anifer time to time.

Next, Renee was not required to take care of an elderly relative. He turned out to be an unpleasant guy, so he was left to his own devices.

And as a story arc: Jorge, the Man Who Wants To Do Right, was misled by strict church doctrine, dished out to him in the person of a fire-and-brimstone priest. His breaking away from those teachings made him a far kinder, better person. I have never seen the church questioned in this way in a telenovela. In fact, Jorge was never seen in church later. The final example of his evolution was treating a transgender person with kindness and compassion. Jorge was my favorite character, and Sergio Mur was just amazing in the part.

I also loved Flo because, well, she’s Flo.

I enjoyed the Barrientos parents. In fact, I really enjoyed the whole cast.

Okay, so what do I watch now? Muro just finished up last night too on Telemundo. Is there anything out there that isn’t a bloodbath? I’m really tired of drug kingpins and gangs and automatic weapons and prisons and violence violence violence. I love the lead actress in Bestia, but it looks like another slaughterhouse. O for a good hacienda novela! Nice scenery, nothing more violent than somebody falling down the staircase. Maybe a stabbing here and there, but not too many.

Maggie, I miss those hacienda novelas. Some of us are watching the 11a.m. ",Corazon" which seems like the more traditional novelas. Anita been trying to give us recaps.

Maia - my guess is Melchor/Melina, like so many LGBTetc., tried to conform to society's expectations, marry, have a family, etc., but at some point perhaps it all became too much for him? Or possibly he went to the U.S. to look for a better life and send money to family back home, and discovered other choices, like working out the gender situation? I'm just so happy that his/her outcome is better than alcohol, drugs, suicide. I don't know if he sent money and stopped, or what. Can't recall if that was addressed.

" O for a good hacienda novela! Nice scenery, nothing more violent than somebody falling down the staircase. Maybe a stabbing here and there, but not too many.'
Maggie - 'maybe a stabbing here and there, but not too many'...... Thank you for providing my second laugh-out-loud today! BwaHahahahaaaa!!!

I knew Jorge had definitely turned a corner last night, when he was shown sans sweater and his shirt tail was hanging out. For more than five minutes. Because, really, when was Jorge not put together, zipped up tight, etc? And in bed with Kika does not count. lol
Even the lighting in his home was brighter when the girls were sitting on the sofa talking.

Yes, for those of us who can't stomach the narco/sadism novelas, there is Corazon que Miente at 11 am. It requires a DVR or VCR, if you work during the day or are too busy to watch then. Sadly, it leaves our dear Diana out since she does work and has no recording possibilities.

It's a traditional telenovela with a traditional priest, Alexis Ayala, and there's already been two deaths, one in a fire, and one an accidental shooting. We're about ready to "después" and see the children as grownups. Anita is recapping it and hoping to get a Patio going.

Anita, I'm sure, would love for all this wonderful Patio to come on over. For now, it's just been me, Doris, Susanlynn and Jarifa commenting. Plus Blue Lass from the Por Amar Sin Ley neighborhood.

Probably there will be a staircase or a stabbing disaster, Maggie, if that's more your style. We can but hope....

Maggie:
I know what you mean about the bloodbaths, although it does not bother me if there is more to the story, BUT: From watching the previews of B&B, it looks like there is a fair amount of bloodletting at first, but the meat of the show seems to be beautiful little Esmeralda punching, kicking and otherwise beating the Holy Bejesus out of almost everyone. I hope she doesn't bruise easily. I will initially watch simply to see her. I just hope she does not plan on looking like Ariana Grande the whole show, or she will be wearing mouse ears before it is all over.

Woofer

Cynthia: I was NOT shocked Anifer went back to her biological Mommy, Maria!

She was a nice kid, but OMG was she annoying with the constant nagging.

Stabbings? Oh Noes. I'd rather you shoot a hole in me that a cat can walk thru than cut me. Knives give me the Heebie Jeebies.

If they told me I needed surgery to save me, I'd probably just be a goner, as I'd prefer whatever was wrong over the thought of one of those sinister little doctor razors slicing me open. Gah!

Judy, if Tono was as funny as Blue Lass, Vero would never have to work again.

So true Kirby. Blue Lass' recaps have me rolling in the aisles.

I know i haven't been around but I want to thank all of the recappers for their excellent, excellent work!

I liked this tn a lot. Yeah it had some issues but, for me, it was worlds ahead of Ramon.

I'm going to try to be on the patio for the next one. Hope to see all of you great commentators there!!

Forgot to mention the one thing that really cracked me up....when they referred to "la ciudad de Maryland". Noooo, Maryland is not a city, it's a STATE. Writers, c'mon, you can do better than that.

JudyB - I was height I heard la Cuidad de Maryland, too, thought maybe I heard wrong and as too lazy to rewind. Gah.

Thank You, Maggie and Carvivilie for stopping by the final posting for this TN.

Maggie, interesting commentary on how this T defied TN rules. I must agree with you that women's choices were valued. So maybe the title of this TN should have been "Mujeres a Todo Dar." With a title like "Papa a Toda Madre" you would think that the men would be the type that made the Father of the Year list by the end of the TN...at least in the top 5, but I don't see how these fathers could make that list...yet. Yes, they are improving, but they have a loooong way to go.

Carvivlie, looking forward to your comments on the next TN.

I'm hoping that the storyline for La Bella is so good that the violence can be tolerated. I'm not one for narcos, guns and bloodbaths, but if the storyline is good enough, I'll give it a try. I too really enjoy Esmeralda Pimentel and am looking forward to seeing her as a bad ass chick...hopefully most of the violence will be more inferred than graphic...keeping fingers crossed!

Rgv Chick, muchísimas gracias. You pulled together all the craziness and made this a coherent gran final. My favorite zingers:

Mind you, Fabian just recently recovered fron spinal surgery enough to walk, while Mauricio's only frailty is above the chin.

What happened, did the previous one hundred episodes happen in an alternate universe?

I wouldn't send you out to kill a mosquito, so you are now protecting the whole cul-de-sac?

Glad to hear Flor and Neron got married. That must've happened while I was out for a minute snack break because I missed it completely.

Jorge making a 360 to calmly, without stuttering, accept a transgendered woman? Okay.

But Pablo not recognizing his papá because pop had longer hair, makeup, a dress, and some new curves? Ridiculous.

It was always a delight catching up with the patio. What supportive, upbeat folks you are. JudyB, glad to hear your family has been blessed with more good times with your kitty.

I'll check out La Bella y Las Bestias tonight.
