Among the stars in Falsa Identidad will be Luis Ernesto Franco, whom many of us loved as Rodrigo in Bajo el mismo cielo, and Uriel del Toro, who played Andrés in Al otro lado del muro. Wow!! An English synopsis and more information about the cast can be found here .
Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation. Since discussions of all the Telemundo novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for.
By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes reference to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation!

the clock is ticking!
Mari has hung up on CataG and run to Titi, stop the bomb, (apparently his guys started the 10 minute timer and left and are now stuck in traffic, Titi tells them to run, steal a moto, anything and get back, they do, while Titi and Mari hit the road, tires squealing.
Hernan drops off snacks for the guards as he makes it back home with food, don't wake the baby CataM says.
Soraya is done with the operation, she now wants to know who it is, Black Hand, what? the guy who pulls the strings.
CataG gets the case files at Quinchia from the police, they swear they are investigating but have no leads.
Mari has called CataM and Hernan but neither have answered, she calls CataG and tells her to call her sister and get them out of the house, CataG says she is not her servant.
Mari calls back and spills about the bomb, CataG calls CataM and gives her a heads up, go out the back way.
CataM and the baby make it out with Hernan always behind them, protecting them, but wait, he goes back for their money stash, drops it, and the bomb goes off, he gets a face full of money.
CataG can't get a hold of anyone, Tony can't get Miguel, the family hears them and want an explanation, she tells about the bomb, hmm, I see Jota is back with them.
Mari gets away from Titi and runs to Hernan's while Titi and his guys split, she sees CataM and the baby are ok while they leave in the ambulance carrying Hernan, but the police won't let her cross the line.
the family can't get any answers to their calls so CataG calls the Colonel, he talks of Miguel's death, Cata thinks it's about her sister, they do get it straight, Diabla got away, the Colonel will send someone to check on her sister.
Diabla rounds up a doc at a clinic by gun point.
CataG has decided to stay and take over in Quinchia, the others can leave, Tony will drive them, nope he's staying too.
Paola is deep, as Laura blows the smoke, she is instructed to kill her friends one by one, and looks ok with that.
Carlos is remembering a time he and Hilda came on the girls practicing witchcraft, hmm, is he coming around.
CataG spells it out, her dad is a dog, Ximena dead, Paola missing, Diabla escapes, Miguel dead, if they stand their ground and get through this, PARADISE awaits them, what?
the doc checks out Diabla, she sees herself in a mirror, he says he can help, but not here, she needs a plastic surgeon.
Hernan is in bad shape as CataM waits outside the operating room, and who shows, yep, it's Mari, who wants her baby, threatening to call the police, go ahead CataM tells her, and how will you explain calling me just before the bomb went off. (and I was hoping she would land a good punch right in the middle of Mari's face).
on twitter they were speculating and I too am wondering, is it the same actress playing Diabla?
Thanks yet again, deb, for your interesting and helpful daily recaps. Loved your comment "if they stand their ground and get through this, PARADISE awaits them, what?"
When CataG spoke to the Colonel, I was afraid his saying "They're dead" would lead to days of misunderstanding and grief. To my surprise, the matter was cleared up within seconds. I guess even this novela can do things right occasionally (then again, even a broken clock tells the right time twice a day :-)).
I see that in tonight's episode, they made Diabla's wounds seem more serious. Yesterday, only her face seemed at all affected, whereas today the face looked worse and there also seemed to be wounds to her chest below her throat. And, as you noted, the doctor told her she needed a plastic surgeon. That makes me fear that novelera's thoughts about bringing in another actress in preparation for a Sin Sense 4 may be on target. Arrgh. I sure hope not!
I too was hoping CataM would land a powerful punch in the middle of Mariana's face. (Actually, what I was initially hoping is that CataM, Hernan, and the baby would get out of the house safely and that Mari, not knowing the baby was safe, would go into the house just as the bomb went off.)
DEB:
thanks a bunch....last night's episode... flew bye----!!
I wanted everybody to bust mariana in her face....I SAW TITI draw his hand back so as to JUST ABOUT READY TO CRACK HER ONE and pimp slap her across the face...
, I know CG wanted to reach thru the phone and yank her hair out...
..poor Dario....that money bag may have saved your life..
diabla...yes, they are going to replace one of the best actresses on this show!!
she deserves her own novella..
hilda is about done... and CG is still lying by omission!!!
Poor Paola, she is the walking time bomb..i thought it would be Carlos...
la bombas??? why??
1.) Corina badly wants Daddy Casilas so bad ROFLOL.
2.) BPN scolds the Female TV News Anchor again.
3.) BPN & the Female TV News Anchor ride to the airport to getting on Mexico's version of Air Force One.
4.) BPN scolds El Capo for whacking Daddy Amuhada.
5.) Navarro, Colon & Co., are incompetent!
Thanks again, deb. You finally got an episode where something happened!
Ditto on wishing someone, anyone, would slap Mariana. I will say the actress did a good job portraying her terror that she’d blown up her own child. I was surprised that she didn’t seem at all concerned about Hernán Darío. I know she intended to blow him up as well, but I thought the sight of him badly wounded on the stretcher might have caused her some regret.
They better not EVER give her back that baby. Clearly spite meant more to her than her child. Titi, narco though he might be, has more heart than that entitled little brat.
Of course there was one more example of Jota’s invertebrate behavior. He was just thrilled at the thought of Tony giving him a ride out of the Village of the Damned. And chimed in how great it was that CataG was going to stay there and deal with things.
I don’t think that’s the same actress playing Diabla. The hair looked a bit like a wig and wasn’t exactly the same color. And the face looked wider. Of course that could be all the wound makeup on her. But something was very different. I think we saw the last of Majida Issa snarling at the guard in the vehicle stopped by the fake construction project.
I just can’t STAND the woo-woo stuff in this novela. Laura blowing cigar smoke on Paola just makes my fingers itch for the FF>>>
I AM looking forward to CataG meeting up with her papí the Rottweiler.
So, I am curious. Are ALL the grey flashback scenes that we've seen lately really shown in earlier seasons? I was wondering about the multiple scenes of Laura, as a child, coaxing the other girls into trying to make black magic. Also, I wondered about the scene where she fell off the swing. That seemed like it was stuck in there later to explain her revenge motive.
I’m pretty sure Hernán Darío is going to make it. My years of TN watching have shown me that, when someone is on the operating table and the docs say “We’re losing him/her!”, or they show instruments going down, down, down or maybe up, up, up, it’s only to supposedly ratchet up the suspense.
Novelera: Remember Uriel del Toro, who portrayed Andres Suarez in "AL LADO OTRO DEL MUNDO" ?
He'll be portraying one of the villains in the upcoming TN "FALSA IDENTIDAD"
Steve, sorry to hear that. I LOVED Uriel as the gallant Andrés, who finally got the girl in the end. I have a hard time imagining him as a villain.
Juanita- the link to the Falsa identidad cast isn't working, the telemundo links from nbcumv.com (choose telemundo channel)sometimes are altered later on, you might want to go there and get the new address for that page.
Great recap, Deb of an exciting episode!
I also wondered how Jota was out now, and what about that big guy?
The money may have saved Hernan, but going back for it didn't, it shows that money is bad. In the opera Manon Lescaut, the main character hears that the cops are coming, her boyfriend says let's leave now, but she can't leave until she gathers up all her pretty jewelry. The cops arrive. Same thing in lots of movies where the greedy person grabs after the money, and ends up falling into the pit, off the building, etc. BTW, did Nacho ever consider a bank account? Oh right, I just remembered, that was sort of Yesica's money, that he sort of stole last year (can't remember the details). I guess a cash deposit of that amount could raise some eyebrows.
As for whether all the flashbacks were shown in previous seasons, no way! I don't even think they mentioned Laura in previous seasons (could be wrong). I think 90% of the flashbacks were made up now to fill in the new storylines. However, that scene with Nacho and his mother dying may have been from season one, which I didn't see. Can someone fill us in on what happened there?
I sort of think it's the same actress as Yesica, just with a wig and tons of prosthetic makeup. Her voice sounds the same. But I also agree, they're probably using this to allow a new actress take her part.
I'm not sure I understand exactly why CataG has to stay in Quinchia NOW. Yes, she has to speak to Carlos and find Paola. But why not go back for a few days for Miguel's funeral, then check on CataM, Hernan and the baby, check on Daniel, and did we have Ximena's funeral? (I can't even remember). I don't think one day would matter that much, Cata's been driving all over the place anyway, accomplishing nothing, while everything blows up around her. But no, she's staying. And so is Tony. So, will they let the others drive Tony's car back? On the other hand, Soraya wants to kill CataG, right? So it's better for Cata to stay where she is.
thanks all!
ah, Majida Issa (Diabla) burned her face a few years ago and could not wear the prosthesis required for the effect, the actress now playing the part is her sister Jornada, who played Amparo earlier and was killed at the beauty pageant.
but Majida was with her behind the scenes, because they used her voice.

thanks Hombre! love it when you squeeze in your comments.
there are new flashbacks with the old, I'll try to point them out, 2 new ones are the swing scene and the one last night of Carlos actually seeing Laura doing something bad.
Hernan burying his mother was a powerful scene from the first season, Diabla had kidnapped her to force Hernan to be a sicario and work as Dani's bodyguard, but she escaped from the old couple and fell off a bluff/cliff trying to get away and died, to be found by Hernan.
yep, still waiting for Ximena's funeral, of course CataG's in charge of that.
yep "Cata's been driving all over the place anyway, accomplishing nothing, while everything blows up around her."
CataG calls the Colonel, who let's them know CataM and the baby are alright but Hernan is in surgery, Hilda decides to stay in Quinchia with CataG (but no one seems to be leaving).
CataM and Mari hassle over the baby, Cata won't give her up and gets on Mari about the bomb, they exchange slaps, when the Colonel shows, Mari slinks off.
Hernan, in surgery, dreams of the time he took CataM across the painted yellow line outside the door to their house that her parents had forbade her to cross, and showed her the city at night.
Soraya wants to know all about the Black Hand, he has so much money he loans it to the banks, he controls all levels of government, etc, etc, if anyone knew he was sick they would have killed him, all Soraya wants is CataG dead.
the doc pulls Diabla's hair out of her face wounds, bandages her up and gives her the name of a plastic surgeon, she leaves with her gun and Dani's ashes, and might not have killed them.
Villa discovers Diabla is alive, jumps on Titi to finish the job, he's busy finishing his other job, killing the two bombers who killed his daughter.
Black Hand awakes to Soraya, calls her his guardian angel.
CataG takes the slow walk alone to see her dad.
(all of the flashbacks of the young girls are new to this season)
Diabla arrives at her dead mother's house in the barrio.
Black Hand asks Soraya how he can pay her back, the sky's the limit.
Dr. Novoa points out CataG's dad as the rest of the family are up above watching.
Hernan dreams, in surgery, of his romance with CataM, he proposes, (this is before Diabla got a hold of both of them).
we find out that both bodyguards were killed in the blast.
the Colonel catches CataM up on Miguel's death and the Diabla escape, when will it all end, CataM says.
Carlos recognizes his baby girl CataG, they have a tearful hug, he says he never forgot her, she asks why he abandoned them, he asks forgiveness.
we remember when Soraya confronted CataG, you took Santi once, if you take him again I will kill you, she tells the story to BLack Hand, she wants CataG dead and Santi's life destroyed.
CataG wants to help papa, but she also needs his help to find Laura, no he says, she is bad, she left with him, she married Satan.
Paola, who seems to be losing her clothes, is now ready to do Laura's bidding.
CataG clears it with the doc to take Carlos home.
Black Hand asks Soraya to get all the information she can on CataG and Santi, it will make the job much cleaner.
(Black Hand with all his money, power, and government connections sounds like he can really bring the house down on CataG and family, I hope the Fiscal has swung into action)
deb, thanks VERY much for alerting me to the broken link for the info about Falsa Identidad. You're right--they changed the link ever so slightly, but that change was enough to make it no longer work. I've now put in the changed link, and it works. At least for now.
Many thanks, deb, for tonight's recap. I found the episode a bit confusing. I realize that Hernan was dreaming while under the anesthesia, and I assumed that the girl he seemed to be in love with was CataM, but the girl in his dream didn't look all that much like CataM, at least not to me. Was the girl in his dream CataM, or was she someone he loved before CataM?
Also, was CataG permitted to go into the courtyard at the manicomio with no one accompanying her? The place was filled with all kinds of deranged people. Wouldn't there have to be someone official (a doctor, a nurse, etc.) to go with her?
I don't remember the details of the previous night's episode, but I was under the impression that the bodyguards were in a car parked pretty far up the street from where Hernan and CataM lived. Had both bodyguards gotten out of the car and gone to the house just as the bomb exploded? If not, how would it have killed them?
DEB:
GHEEWHIZZZZ...YES!! FRIDAY WAS A BARN BURNER!!!Good recap... yes!!!
Novelera:

Majida ...going to miss you!!!! You were the best!!
Smoke invokes the spirits... in this case ...gateway to the Beast!!!real ugly….this show is going there!! Keep your rosery nearby...
CG ,meeting her father -the- Rottweiler. Girl!!LOL!!! you are cold bloodied!! But …On point!!
Ironically... if you recall...Diabla would often in many ,many earlier, episodes, she spoke abt how she has demonic protection….or blood sacrifice or she smeared blood...
Hernan is CM's twin flame… he must make it...!!
Hombre:
The money vest may not have been a good move...
The flashbacks…The death of Dario’s mom was very sad.
But it helped in the review of HOW HE NEEDS TO TAKE REVENGE ON DIABLA…!!!he has a lot to live for…
the money is also related to Valentina fiancé Pepe...?Hernan’s best friend and Roady…Diabla had his mom kidnapped and held hostage ...to keep him compliant and hostage to Daniela’s lust… ...
Its cray cray… CG had to see Carlos… and how this plays out...?? I still say he is a walking TIMEBOMB!!
YES… POOR Ximena’s funeral????
Villa and Titi… good scene. Cold bloodied…but understandable…hold on Titi. Mariana is heading back... and he is done with your dumb ass...!!
ZORAYA:Works for the Black Hands. In reference to the BLACK EAGLE ,A REAL DARK-OPERATION IN COLUMBIA !!this writer has a lot of guts making this connection/reference to a government black-Ops??!!
Juanita;
Yes!! its Catamedia... three years ago... and after…’CELIA CRUZ’ telenovela...
The devil is in the details…sometimes... the yellow-line..was Hilda's madness ..a confinement ,that left CM, a victim because she was so sheltered...
CG, at the asylum... really…??!! Yes, the slow mo.-walk to meet her dad. It’s very dramatic…
BECAUSE THE MAN HAS BEEN A NON-ENITY FOR TWO TELANOVAS... AND A MOVIE …..BETWEEN THREE COUNTRIES for the I5 YEARS!!
Now we have Carlos ,who hasn’t even been a thought or referrence...at anytime... not even a subtext!! So, they are really pushing this…
Given Ximena’s death…...they have not really dealt with BRAYON’S DEATH,..HIS RELATIONSHIP TO JOTA [TROLL]…...SO WHY.. All this?!!
Adding new story lines?!..how ,abt resolving the OLD ONES!?
... we never saw Ximena's pimp/Valentina's dad?.. or Brayon's boss, jota's and his crew and how Brayon, died due to the pressure of poverty [ thanks Carlos!] ..risky business..
..and betrayal[Hilda, keep getting ripped off-thanks Carlos!].. and why jota left the 'LIFE'[with the mob bosses money and he still got ripped offed]...was it due to Brayon's ugly death..
Brayon and CG talked about how they had to do what they HAD TO, inorder to get out of the barrio..!! he knew she was a 'Pro'...he had no judgement .. and was supportive!![ no thanks to you Carlos!!]
This show is wrapping up...We will find out NEXT YEAR…
I SEE NOTHING being RESOLVED UNTIL 2019
1.) Looks like BPN will frame Daddy Casilas & Co., for the assassination of Daddy Amuhada (Jaime Rodriguez 2.0)
2.) Ambar getting her freak on with General Tavares.
3.) The Venezuelan Embassy plotting strategy.
4.) Navarro, Colon, Castillo & Co., still incompetent.
5.) Castillo finds out BPN had Mayra & the Female TV News Anchor flying with him on Mexico's Air Force One.
Thanks again, Deb, excellent recap!
Juanita, yes, it's the same actress as CataM, her hair was just in her face 3 years ago.
As for the guards, they were down the street, yes, but they noticed that ice cream truck (finally), got suspicious, and both headed down to check it out, so they could have arrived just when it went off (although we didn't see that).
As for approaching Carlos in the manicomio, of course it's dangerous, but they've got that idiot doctor telling them everything is fine. I liked how when CataG said is it a good time to take Carlos out, the doctor said, No, it's the PERFECT time to take him out! Very logical....until something sets off Carlos again. Carlos said "home, Hilda, Byron", and so far nobody told him Byron won't be there. He also got mad at Hilda the other day, so much so that the doctor told him then NOT to take Carlos out. I for one would just like them to give him a haircut.
Deb, I also noticed that Paola was losing her clothes. This must be a requirement for doing the Devil's bidding. I hope our good guys have lots of crosses or something like that to help stop the power of Satan.
Mariana is in big trouble as she called CataG and told her about the bomb just before it went off. She did manage to save the baby (and CataM), but would CataG testify against her own daughter?
Titi is of course a little cold blooded, killing those guys who really just followed his orders with the bomb, then tried to get back to defuse it, but were too late. I also think he won't be happy with Pulpo and friend, who failed to kill Yesica, but got paid a ton of money.
thanks all!
Juanita, as Halimacandy said, Carolina Gaitan (CataM) was coming off her crazy short hair role in "Celia" and wore that mop the first season, it was like everyone was afraid to touch it.
Halimacandy, thanks for the heads up on the Black Eagles, I hadn't heard of them.
Hombre, yep, seems pretty risky for CataG to bring papa home after her first meeting, not having seen him for over 30 years, most of which he must have spent in this crazy place, of course Cata will probably dump him off on clueless Santi, who is hanging out at the Cata mansion in case Mari should call, and she probably will since she doesn't know where Titi lives, don't know why the Black Hand should worry about ruining his life.
interesting how the people not actually with CataG know nothing about what is going on.
oh and CataG not willing to identify Ximena's body for the Colonel was what put that whole thing on hold.
Deb, thanks so much for the very detailed recap.
I think that the brujería requiring Paola to be in her undies might be to keep male viewers coming back in spite of the crazy crap.
Halimacandy, as always, you are perfect in filling in the details of what I missed not watching the other seasons. I only watched the one where CataM had the yellow line she was not supposed to cross. When Diabla got the whole family thrown in jail (can’t remember why) I think I threw my remote at the screen and deleted the thing on my DVR that would record all episodes.
So, I’m wondering how Mariana would get back to Titi’s place. And whose place is that anyway? Villa’s? Titi had to run with some money and a few changes of clothes from his former palace. Dayana took Mariana there; one of the hot and cold running drivers all these people have drove them. So Mariana walks up to a cab and says: “Take me to Titi the Narco’s house; he’ll pay the fare when we arrive?”
And, Titi might shoot Mariana on sight without waiting for her to tell him the baby is alive.
I was sort of touched by CataG’s reunion with her father. He does seem to be in his right mind once in a while. He DOES know his elder daughter is evil.
I was SURE Diabla was going to kill the doctor and his nurse. Don’t think that happened.
And I don’t know how long Diabla’s mother has been dead. But I guess if you’re in the drug trade you can afford not to sell a dead parent’s house. If the cops in this show weren’t so dumb, they’d know about that house and grab her up.
Many thanks to deb, Halimacandy, and Hombre for answering my question and supplying so many more more helpful details. You guys are great!
novelera, I too expected Diabla to kill the doctor and his nurse. I'm glad we were wrong. Also, I loved your comment about why Paola is in her undies. That certainly makes more sense than any other reason I can think of!
novelera, I too loved Uriel del Toro as Andrés in Al otro lado del muro. So I was delighted when I saw that he was going to be in Falsa identidad. And frankly, I'm kinda glad that he'll be playing a villain this time. I'd hate to see him typecast as the nice guy who gets the girl at the end. Especially this time, since Luis Ernesto Franco (Rodrigo from Bajo el mismo cielo) will have the starring male role. I'm hoping that will give him a chance to have a better ending than the one he had in Bajo. The fact that both of these actors will be in Falsa makes that a must-see novela for me. I hope I'm not disappointed.
Two uniformed police in D.F. find a woman in very bad shape in an alley. One cop begins mouth to mouth, and then collapses coughing.
We see Falco in his pensión, lifting weights and looking at pictures of his daughter.
He shows up at the crime scene with Tenoch, who I’m beginning to like. Tenoch says the victim is Romina Azur, 31, who has been studying for a doctorate in philosophy. She had gone to a restaurant, House of the Sirens. Mares, as usual, is already there. He says the white foam around the victim’s mouth means poisoning, and the cop who tried to resuscitate her almost died.
Mares asks Falco if he’ll attend Paola’s 25th Birthday Party. Falco says he’d prefer a celebration with just the two of them.
At the police station Mares tells them it was cyanide. The victim left the dinner with friends at around 1:30 AM, saying she had an exam the next day. Salomón says they need to determine how much time elapsed during the time she was poisoned and its taking effect. She gets a call; there’s another victim.
Falco and Tenoch are at the club where the second victim has been found. He asks a policewoman who comes here. She replies: young, old, from all social strata. The owner of the club has these events: speed dating (They said it in English.) twice a week. Tenoch explains speed dating to Falco and adds that it’s going out of style since most people use apps. Tenoch offers to download a couple of apps for Falco, who just glares at him.
The second victim, found in the bar’s bathroom, is Julia Santos, 36. She came often to these veladas de solteros (social evenings for single people).
Falco goes old school at the police station with a paper map. He shows that Romina was walking home from the restaurant and passed the bar where the speed dating was held and never made it home.
Salomón says they haven’t been able to contact the owner of the bar: Elena Cota. Falco wonders why Romina went to a bar after leaving the dinner party saying she had a test in the morning. Falco asks for security cameras.
Falco is smoking on the roof of the police station and Tenoch says he heard from Mares that the poison wasn’t in what they ate or drank. After looking pensively at his own cigarette, Falco asks if Romina and Julia both smoked. Tenoch jumps up and says he’ll ask someone to test the cigarettes that were in Julia’s purse.
The security camera shows Julia smoking at the back of the bar. Romina walks up and asks for a cigarette, thanks her, and then walks off. Then they didn’t know each other. The camera shows the owner of the bar, Elena Cota, also coming out and smoking. The partners run out to go to Elena's house. They find her with some white foam around her mouth, but still alive.
Mares has told them that Julia’s cigarettes were poisoned. Falco: Ella era el blanco. (She was the target.)
A file on Javier Santos, Julia’s husband has been located and they’ve brought him in for questioning. He’s an anesthesiologist and didn’t return their calls because he was in surgery. Santos says that he and Julia were separated for several months. In current photos she looks happier than in the ones in her apartment.
Santos says they broke up because he had an affair with a nurse. This is why she threw him out. He has an alibi, staying with a cousin, Jorge.
Salomón says that, considering the potency of the cyanide, the victim would have been poisoned within the first hour. Thus the person who added the poison to the cigarettes was in the bar that night.
Paola has come to see Falco at work. Some young detective smirks about Falco’s visitor and is told Falco will carve out his eyes if he looks at her that way again! Paola wants her father to come to her birthday party because he missed so many of them.
Falco has a restless night. He dreams of the time he was shot, and almost sees the shooter.
Tenoch has gotten into Julia’s computer. Some guy calling himself Casanova has been sending her pictures of herself in various locations. They review the security camera photos outside the club and see this guy there.
Falco confides in Tenoch. He tells him he’s been having a recurrent nightmare, and it seems to him that the attempt on his life wasn’t like they told him. Tenoch asks how he can help. Falco wants the file from that time so he can see who was involved. Tenoch thinks this won’t be difficult.
They ask Elena Cato if she knew Julia. She says she did and that Julia started coming to the veladas, and that this helped her change from a pallid, insecure woman to an attractive one. Falco tells Elena not to cancel the Sunday speed dialing event, in fact to move it forward.
We see a long table with men on one side and women on the other, chatting away. We see Casanova in a booth. When he leaves Falco grabs him up. At the police station we see that he’s a real creepy guy. He says that Julia was beautiful and fragile. Falco goes for him and Salomón has to pull him off.
For once Falco’s shrink seems nice. They have their “session” on the roof. She tells him that Paola is what binds him to the present.
Falco is sitting at a dining table watching the young people having fun at Paola’s birthday party. The lights go off, and Carolina comes in with a cake lit up with candles. Everyone sings Las Mañanitas. Falco slips out to sit on the steps of the apartment building. Caro comes out to join him. He remembers her getting migraines from red wine. She tells him that it feels like no time has passed when they’re together. Impulsively, she kisses him and then apologizes.
Falco leaves and goes to see his father, who grumbles about how late it is and that Falco is interrupting his favorite TV show.
Falco goes to the apartment building where it all happened and talks with the widow of Julián Reyes. She tells him that Julián was killed in the same firefight where he himself was shot. [Although she doesn’t know it was Falco, just some judicial.]
I’m a little fuzzy about what happens next. Falco goes to some club because he has a picture of a woman in front of it. He goes across the street and asks a woman behind the bar if she recognizes the woman. She says yes, and that it’s the girlfriend of Stef, the owner of this place. When he asks to see Stef, the woman says the person is arriving on a motorcycle right now. Stef turns out to be a woman, Estefanía. She says that, yes, she’s the girlfriend of Julia Santos.
At the police station she tells them that she was in Querétero for a week visiting her mother. She heard that someone died in the bar across the street, but she never thought it would be Julia. She tells them that they met a couple of months ago; and it was love at first sight. Falco asks her if cyanide means anything to her. She thinks for a moment and then says no.
Falco decides to follow Stef, who’s riding away on her motorcycle. Meanwhile Salomón and Tenoch are reviewing calls on Stef’s phone, very few of them. But there is one every day from Phoenix Industrial, a company that makes chemicals. Like cyanide! And the owner is Elena Cato.
We see Stef ride up to Phoenix and Falco right behind her. Stef is telling Elena that “they” killed Julia. Elena replies that she knows about it, and now they can go back to normal. Stef angrily tells her that, if the two of them aren’t together, it isn’t because of someone else. Elena wheedles. She says she bought tickets for them to go to Vancouver, like their first trip together.
Stef figures out that Elena killed Julia and tells her there’s nothing between them anymore. Enraged, Elena pulls out a gun and shoots Stef in the shoulder. Falco comes up behind Elena and the two of them struggle for the gun, eventually falling through a glass window. Elena looks dead, but Falco seems to have landed on her and just winces as he gets up.
Falco takes Paola to some kind of warehouse and gives her a birthday gift. It’s a necklace he bought for her 2nd birthday, and here it is 23 years late. Paola is delighted. When Falco drives Paola home she invites him to a wedding in two weeks of two of her male friends. Falco grins saying he’d definitely like to see a gay wedding in Mexico.
Mares, looking kind of sinister, is watching Falco and Paola together.
Falco calls Carolina. However her phone is in a room where Mares is watching it. When it goes to voice mail, Falco leaves a message. Mares listens to the message! What a jerk! The message is that Falco couldn’t stop thinking about that kiss and something about their “trying it”. Mares deletes the message off Caro’s phone.
I love reading your recaps novelera!
hmm, I think Paula says that her wish at her birthdays was always the same, that Falco be there at her next birthday, after he gives her his present, he tells her that she can wish for whatever she wants from now on.
they seemed to have hard copies of Casanova's pics, so I was going with that was where he got that one of Julia and tracked down that place and by coincidence the lady at the business across the street recognized her.
I think that warehouse is where his car was, it must be all of his stuff that was put in storage, since he wasn't actually dead.
I'm beginning to worry about Falco's boss, his old partner, last show he seemed to be keeping an eye on Falco, and wouldn't it be no-vela-is-tic (is that a word) if Mares is involve and gets taken down too.
September, 13 episodes.
"The series tells the story of an ex-marine who enters a maximum security prison on the border between Mexico and the United States to investigate the kidnapping of the daughter of a prominent US judge."

(hmm, Falco is supposed to have 15 episodes so shouldn't be done till the end of october).
What a superb recap, novelera! MANY thanks! It clarified a lot for me.
I found the plot a bit hard to follow. I was surprised that Elena poisoned Julia, since Elena too was poisoned. Certainly she knew that Julia's cigarettes were poisoned, since she as the one who poisoned them. I guess that since she had separate access to the cyanide, she took just enough to be sick but not enough to die. She would thus avoid suspicion, since she'd seem to be another victim rather than the killer. But that seems a bit of a stretch. My impression is that cyanide is too tricky to play around with that way. Oh well....
I was trying to remember who Julian Reyes is. I know his name was mentioned in an earlier episode. Was he the guy Falco and his partner were going to escort to the police station when Falco was shot? And you're right--in Falco's nightmare, he does almost get a look at the person who shoots him. I wonder whether his memory will become clearer as the episodes progress.
I agree that Tenoch seems to be becoming nicer, and apparently Falco thinks so too, since he confided in him about the nightmare. I think that a few episodes ago, he wouldn't have opened up to him like that. I guess that also says something about Falco's state of mind.
Normally I don't have any problem understanding characters when they speak English, but I didn't even recognize that the woman was saying "speed dating." It was only when I saw the Spanish captions (cítas rápidas) that I figured out that she'd said "speed dating.
I found it amusing that Tenoch informed Falco that speed dating was becoming passé, that people now used apps. Poor Falco--he no sooner learns about speed dating than he finds that what he's learned is almost outdated. I loved it when Tenoch offerred to download some of those apps for Falco.
Hmmm...it looks as if Caro's marriage to Mares may be less secure than it seemed. And the rivalry between Mares and Falco may be intensifying.
deb, is it possible that Telemundo will put El Recluso on Sundays at 10 pm? As you note, Falco is slated to run for 15 episodes, so it won't be over in September, when El Recluso is set to begin.
I suspect that no matter when it's on, I'll pass it up. I'm no fan of prison dramas.
I line this series.
Another solid episode and creative: I never saw a first responder police officer poisoned from giving mouth to mouth to a poisoning victim.
Juanita, I agree about the rivalry between Mares and Falco.
Gracias, novelera.
I hiss in the general direction of Felipe and Falco both. It's like this case is a stand-in for for the Felipe-Caro-Falco love triangle. Hi, big glaring neon warning sign about jealousy with a reminder that women aren't objects to be fought over.
Thanks for the kind words. I have no way of predicting how this love triangle will work out. But something about Mares, the two glasses of water, and flannel bathrobe said something to me.
Alejandro Falco and Carolina clearly had a very passionate kind of marriage. She was devastated by what happened to him, as Bravo described her weight loss, ojeras (bags under her eyes), and constant hours at his side. We could tell in the first episode how much they loved each other.
Mares seems to me like he managed to worm his way into her affections, provided some stability, and obviously was very kind to Paola. But I don't think she has ever felt toward him the way she did toward Falco. And Mares knows it.
Sometimes my curiosity can lead me in strange directions. I kept wondering about Falco's car. So I paused my TV for a couple of views, took pictures with my tablet and sent it to my car nut son.
Falco's car is an 80's era Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
