Mi marido tiene más familia Monday 10/8/18 Capítulo 19 You Can't Keep the Truth Down
Catalina and Blanca continue arguing at Blanca's house. Blanca says she is sorry to Catalina but Julieta chose her to watch the grandchildren. Blanca takes the blanket off the monitor to talk to "her daughter" Julieta. Catalina asks Blanca if she is kicking her out. Blanca would like to say no, but the real answer is yes. Julieta says she will be there at dinner time. Catalina will be back then, too. Blanca asks Julieta if she doesn't have any work to do. Julieta has plenty. She is going to turn the monitor down but she reminds Blanca that she will be watching. Blanca is fine with that so she can get on with her work and Julieta with hers.
Canuto is very nervous having coffee with his sons. His hand is shaking as he drinks his cup of coffee. It is time for him to leave. He is proud to feel like he is part of the family. He gives his opinions of each of the men. There is Audifaz has his great wisdom, Tulio issuch a formal man and Eugenio has his great heart. Before he leaves, he asks to have one last hug with all of them.
At a meeting of his foundation, Robert gets news that the funds have dried up. Nobody on the board is very optimistic since they are in competition with so many other charities especially after the recent earthquake in Oaxaca. Robert suggests an auction of Daniela's work and other donated pieces. He won't let hope die because so many children depend on them. The foundation has to keep going. Later, Tavo and Robert conclude that an auction won't be enough. Robert has a new idea. He is thinking about talking to the famous Dr. Vicente Lagarreta who could come to their hospital and maybe hold a conference.
Hugo asks his wife Diana if there might not be some employment possibility at her school for him. Diana says he can ask the principal but it probably will be tough because the school year has already started.
Susana wants to make up for the Active Break when Julieta got ill so she informs Julieta that they will have a supper tonight together with the employees to work on that team building experience. When Julieta starts to complain about the short notice and all she has to do, Susana says that this is the least bit of sacrifice they can do for their employees but if Julieta wants to tell them that she doesn't want to spend any time with them she can. Susana also tells her that taht might not come off too well since they all tried to help Julieta when she had her panic attack. Susana adds that Julieta can take care of the reservations, etc. but Susana will take care of the food this time around so there are no "accidents".
Polita is still not doing well at the bakery job. She evidently dropped a pan of something. Eugenio especially doesn't look pleased. Pancho puts in a good word for Polita being a beginner saying nobody is born an expert and talking about how long it took him to get good at carrying things. He offers to help Polita clean up what she dropped.
Pancho and Susana agree to meet at the bakery for their talk. She really needs his advice. They run into Julieta outside and Susana wonders why she is there. Pancho explains that Dr. Robert Cooper's Mexican surname is Córcega. Susana suddenly starts to put it all together. Julieta just smiles. When Susana goes in the bakery, Pancho grabs her hand and says that she can tell him anything. He is the proverbial "tomb." She ends up telling him what her dad told her. She tells Pancho that she is great at her job but has not been as successful in her personal life. She is grateful for his listening to her.
Later Temo and Ari arrive and see Pancho out on the side walk outside the bakery. The are both stinky like piggies after their basketball practice.
It is dinner time and the time has come for Imelda to tell her sons the truth. Robert is with her. She never thought this day would arrive. She admits that even though she said that their father died in an accident, she lied. Their father is not dead. She wants to tell them the whole story. Robert asks them to listen to Imelda who has born this weight alone for years. In the middle of it all, Julieta calls Robert to let him know that Susana has figured out Canuto's connection to all of them. Imelda continues and tells her sons about their father cheating on her and how he did not respect their marriage or their family. She couldn't take it so she took him out of their lives completely. Eugenio takes it the worst out of all of the sons and gets very upset. He tells her that nothing that she has told him justified what she did. They needed their father and loved him. They could have gotten divorced, separated, etc. Tulio tries to calm him down. Robert, acting as the peacemaker, reminds them they cannot change the past. Blanca tells them to remember their mother has a weak heart. Eugenio can only think of crying for fifty years at an empty tomb. Imelda continues to explain that their father's infidelity killed her and she didn't want them to be left with a bad image of their father. Audifaz and Tulio seem to be more understanding than Eugenio. Audifaz reminds them that marriage is sacred. They all agree it is complicated. Imelda thought she was doing the best she could given the situation. She realizes they all need time to process what she just told them. She doesn't want them to hate her. She loves her sons and only wanted to protect them. She hopes one day they can forgive her. Her sons leave in silence and she is left asking God "Why?"
Catalina and her turbaned friend come in to cleanse the bakery with smoking herbs. They then move on to the apartment building. Julieta sees her and tells her how stupid the cleansing is. Robert and Blanca come out next with Blanquita and Robert tells Catalina that the smoke is bothering the baby. Catalina only wants to get rid of the bad vibes.
Canuto goes to church to pray that his family does not suffer because of his weakness. He offers his life to God so Imelda is forgiven by her sons. He feels ill when he starts to leave. Clarisa and Axel are wandering around the church on an outing together. Clarisa and Axel see Canuto leaving the church in bad shape and staggering around. They go to assiat him and take him to the hospital.

My favorite scene had to be Susana putting it all together in her mind about her father and the other Córcega's who own the bakery.
Gabriel seems to not have a clue. Too bad because you can't live on love alone.
When will the sons find out Canuto is their long missing father?
BUT I had a few questions, as I had not seen it before. Si I kinda took a few notes:
There is some fellow in a paisley shirt which makes him resemble a house trailer sofa cushion. And he gets better as the show moves along.
Curly hair fellow is talking to purple hair chic as she is using a saw that could take off a horse's leg. He can't seem to get her undivided attention, go figure.
It appears he just fed his teddy bear at Burger King. How sweet
Oh Susanna, Must she wear clothes?
Dr. Robert and a couple of doe eyed interns....Hmmmm.....careful Doc.
Oh Goody, are all these Honeys working in another underwear factory?
Doctor Rob needs a haircut
White haired dude with wirerims is trying to talk to God, or probably actually to one of His go-betweens.
Oh Crap ! This is an Osorio show? Where is his singing, dancing can't sing, can't dance kid?
Curly boy drinks wine as Purple hair makes spaghetti for fifty and gets himself yelled at.
Twenty five minutes in and we already have a chick crying. Don't ya just love an old fashioned TN?
Is it a family meal or a seance?
Is that Mick Jagger's Mom at the head of the table?
Doctor Robert's wife Juliet doesn't seem real sweet.
A couple of old burned out hippies mistake the bakery for a head shop while Susana and Pancho are having a heart to heart.
They then find Julieta in the hall and attempt to cheer her up by adjusting her Feng Shui but she is having none of it.
The chat with God didn't go well. Thankfully short skirt and kisser rescued him.
I think I just saw the Osorio kid. Soccer player? Yikes !
Paisley shirt's pocket square is interesting, especially as he is not wearing a tie. It resembles a road kill parrot.
Actually it goes with his ponytail, scratch that, it is too small, maybe rabbit tail? There is something back there.
Tomorrow is another day.
Imelda never said she divorced Canuto, IIRC, so it would seem that they are still legally married.
Gabe & Dani might not make it as a couple. They really did not know each other well enough before marrying and money is one of the big triggers for problems and divorce. It happened to the sons of two different friends of ours. The marriages tanked soon after, because the wives wanted to spend money the way they did while on their parents’ “payroll.”
Susana is probably a workaholic, which is an addiction just like alcohol & drugs, gambling, etc., and it leaves a path of damage behind.
Jarifa, you made me laugh when you said the boys were "stinky like two little piggies". Yep, boys and sweat...pretty overwhelming.
Thanks for another lively recap my friend. And enjoyed Kirby's humor and Doris' analysis. Yep, money is one of the big causes of divorce. And the other is ...guess what?....
Stellar. Just stellar.
Enjoyed every single insight and observation and also liked "stinky like piggies".
“They both need to be complete as individuals before they can come together to be a successful couple”. Yes, that would be nice. Unfortunately, in the real world, couples must do both simultaneously. Relationships are always a work in progress. At least for us mortals.
While I shake my head at Gabe’s failure to grasp that while being a dreamer is lovely, it doesn’t pay the bills. The idea of taking advantage of some loan shark program is indeed scary. Dani is a bit too serious and Gabe is just too far in the clouds. I am worried too doris, but I am hoping there is enough love there to make it work.
“There is Audifaz has his great wisdom, Tulio is such a formal man and Eugenio has his great heart”. I’m not quite sure I would assign “great wisdom” to Audi (although I like the character) 2 out of 3 wasn’t not bad. I would be searching to find a strong positive for Tulio and “formal” was rather inspired.
“Pancho puts in a good word for Polita being a beginner saying nobody is born an expert and talking about how long it took him to get good at carrying things”. I’m warming up a bit more toward our rather eccentric character.
“Imelda continues and tells her sons about their father cheating on her and how he did not respect their marriage or their family. She couldn't take it so she took him out of their lives completely”. I know it wasn’t the right thing to do but my heart goes out to Imelda. Canuto cheated. Period. Not only that, he started a new family! He stayed away while his sons mourned. His motivation for all this is guilt. I feel he bears the brunt of being wrong in all of this.
"Curly boy drinks wine as Purple hair makes spaghetti for fifty and gets himself yelled at" was just one of the things that made me smile Kirby. I smiled reading your comment and the avatar - most welcome.
Judy, I couldn't agree more about your reasons for divorce. Lack of money and differences as to how to spend it are extremely combustible. I will guess on your second reason for divorce. Sad sigh.
I like Julieta but in this second series "Doctor Robert's wife Juliet doesn't seem real sweet" sort of describes it Kirby.
So Axel and Clarissa were out and about. A bit surprising.
Catalina is back to her own shrewish self. Not enjoying this incarnation. :(
Jarifa, you a master storyteller. Thank you for your marvelous efforts and time.
Diana
doris, JudyB, Diana, I kept on thinking yesterday that season 2 should be called “Happily Ever After in the Real World.” The first season had an almost fairy tale quality to it; this season not really.
doris, ITA about money being a major trigger for couples. With their quick marriage, it has become one more thing Gabriel or Daniela didn’t consider.
JudyB, this is a problem laden series but I am hooked just like I was with the first season. The pacing is still good so things seem to be resolved rather quickly or at least the writers provide us with enough new information to keep it interesting. No, I am not related to Juan Osorio. LOL
Diana, I do not blame Imelda in the least either. If Canuto was not such a coward he would have insisted on seeing his sons somehow some way. Imelda did the best she could. The devastation of having three children and a cheating husband must have been overwhelming. As for divorce, even though it was legal at the time, Imelda was a good Catholic and I am guessing that divorce was probably not even considered as an option.
Susana figuring out that the bakery Corsega's are her half-brothers was a darned good scene, Jarifa; and Catalina and the guru smoking out the bad vibes was unbelievable (eye roll).
I just can't bring myself to feel sorry for Imelda. She made a very bad, selfish decision. She told her sons that she was trying to protect them? One of the sons told her that she was only thinking of herself and not what they needed as children; I totally agree with that. I am just wondering how she could stand to see her boys crying for and missing their father; it would take a lot of bitterness and a frozen heart to ignore the cries of a child. I'm sure that the sons will eventually forgive her because that's just the way things are in TNLandia; and I'm sure that when they find out that "Tito" is their father, they will rant and rave...and eventually forgive him too; I just hope they do it before really does end up six feet under.
Gabe and Dani worry me too. Diana, "Dani is a bit too serious and Gabe is just too far in the clouds" describes them perfectly; and when they talk, they don't seem to really listen to each other.
Kirby, yes, Osorio's kid is the curly haired soccer player; and he is the son of paisley shirt with the rabbit tail (actually he wears two rabbit tails, but IMHO, his hair looks much better than it did in the 1st season when it was wild and free :-)
Glad to see you on the patio, Kirby. You, your humor, and your magnificent avatars were greatly missed.
If Canuto wanted to see his kids in the last 60 years he knew where they were. They haven't moved from the same town. Imelda made an impulsive decision years ago and kept up the lie, but honestly, the fact that Canuto never came looking for them meant he was dead to them.
Gabi desperately needs a job. He should ask his father to run a restaurant again.
Gabriel needs a JOB like right now! He just can't hang around all the time with Daniela. He needs a job of his own. He's educated in the best schools, so why isn't he working? I just find this too silly.
Catalina with her guru coming to burn sage for the "evil spirits" was hilarious! At least I think she was doing that. People who practice New Age/Eastern mysticism think that sage gets rid of evil spirits.
I loved the scene with Susana putting 2 + 2 together and how it just blew her mind. That was some pretty good acting there. Can't wait till the moment of truth between her and Julieta where they each acknowledge each other as "family."
Oh I hope Canuto isn't dying yet! We know he has diabetes, so why isn't he on some kind of medications? Seems to me that Axel and Robert would have made darn sure that he takes the best medications/insulin or something.
My father left my pregnant mother (with myself and my brother) to remarry (oh, he did divorce her first). My mother never, ever said a bad word about my father. It was I, the "abandoned" one who had all the anger. Being hurt and confused, a few years later I worked up the courage to call my father (then remarried with 2 daughters). He told me never to call him at home again.
I can live with myself because he and I made peace before he passed. But the anger and hurt caused so many so much heartache.
Yes, Imelda was wrong I still lay the lion's share at Canuto's feet. Jarifa, I think your word "coward" is the most fitting. I have no doubt he will be forgiven.
Diana
Pancho is still smoothing off Susana's rough edges and now he's holding her hand at times. I look forward to learning more about their past.
I have started wondering if there is a 12 step program for TN junkies. Sometimes I watch and find myself saying "Oh, please, this is too unbelievable." But then I read the news and come across things in the "real world" that are just as crazy. So Canuto cheats on Imelda, to what extent we don't know, and so she "buries" him. He completely forgets (?) his family for more than half a century until now. Talk about boneheaded! Both of them.
carvivlie, you have a point about Gabriel and his father. Daddy Musi came on board last season, embraced Dani and Gabriel as a couple and the Córcega family. Gabriel eventually took an interest in running a restaurant and was quite good at it. He and his sisters seem to be natural born salespeople. How come he can't earn a living any more than Audifaz? I think the writers are not giving us enough credit for being able to remember season 1... however vaguely. And I suppose it's just a part of being a TN addict, we will accept all sorts of things without questioning them much, like Casandra's wholly new attitude and working for Julieta and calling her "Chief."
Maybe it just doesn't pay to question anything. I don't see the producers stepping forward to explain. They don't have to, they know we're addicted.
:-)
andy
Andy, I like your expression about "Pancho still smoothing off Susana's rough edges". I hope those two have a real romance down the line. yes, Casandra has sure done a turnaround.
Thank you, Diana and Cynthia, a for sharing your stories. There is so much in these novelas that hit home. I guess that is why they are so popular with so many of us.
Thank you, everyone, for taking time and stopping by the patio.
"We may not have had idyllic childhools here" was exactly right Cynthia. And your candor as to how difficult it is when people stay together is proof positive there is no easy or happy solution. I'm sorry that is was so hurtful for you but am happy you also made peace with your father. The fact you miss him shows you have a very forgiving heart.
In reality, some TN tragedies are terrible but the ones we endure in life are even more so....
Diana
So grateful to you and Cynthia keeping the recaps going.
It will be interesting to see how the boyz react to Canuto once they find out. If he's in the hospital though, I wager he gets a bit more sympathy than they gave their mother :)
And I forgot to mention earlier how lovely it is that the "new" Blanquita(s) aren't cryers! :)
Diana
When I read the first sentence. I just knew it was Kirby and his witty remarks and observations! Stick around
pal.....
BTW, the "smoothing off Susana's rough edges" is from a comment made by JudyB that I used without attribution (mea culpa) :-)
:-)
andy
Andy, I remember Gabi doing quite well running both businesses, the one in which he met Juli again, and then later the restaurant. He should have no problem running the current business, with marketing and such. But yeah I guess the writers need more drama from somewhere.
Gabriel and Daniela were my favorite couple in Season 1, but now I agree with Dani they should separate. Sad.
Where is his singing, dancing can't sing, can't dance kid?
Kirby, just wait. That tall curly haired boy will break into "Tonight, Tonight!" any moment now.
Thanks goodness for Pancho bringing on the goofyness.
