Mi marido tiene más familia Wednesday 10/10/18 Capítulo 21 The Party's Over

Susana and Julieta talk it out. Susana understands that it is tough for Julieta but Canuto is her father. It all seems like a bad joke to Julieta. It is turning out worst than Susana had expected. Anyway, Susans wants a nice meal for the employees because it isn't their problem. She also pressures Julieta to get her early summer submission of styles as soon as possible. Julieta brings Susana her work and plops it on her desk. Susana is not pleased. She wants her to do her submission all over. She remarks that it is not personal. Julieta thinks it is and leaves in a huff.

Julieta calls looking for Blanca and Blanquita since they are not on camera. She calls Catalina who tells her they are at Pancho's.

Robert talks to Dr. Vicente in Africa and explains how he needs to attract new donors. He would like Dr. Vicente to come to Oaxaca and give a conference so he can teach his courses. Dr. Vicente says Robert has to convince people about how important their work is. Robert mentions that he can also see his children. Dr. Vicente seems pleased to come when he can get things arranged.

Pancho has been chosen to be the referee in the "granny competition" The first challenge is a vegetable lesson in English. Blanca wins. Catalina is ready for the remaining competitions whatever they may be. Pancho proclaims that tomorrow's challenge will be "friendliness" . . . Robert is not happy that his mother is spending all day at Pancho's even though she is involved in this competition with Catalina. He does not trust Pancho. He and Pancho get into it. Robert and Pancho seem like little boys when they end up physically pulling on Blanca's arms as if she were a rag doll to get her attention.

Robert talks with his dad and is not happy with all of the time his mother is spending with Pancho López.

Ari and Temo are out at a carnival. Ari wins a prize at a skill game and lets Temo pick out the prize and keep it. It is the statue of a pig. At home, Audifaz comes looking for Ari at Pancho's. Finally, Temo and Ari arrive. Pancho yells at Temo. Later, he yells at him again for not answering his phone when he was trying to call him earlier. It turns out the battery was dead. Pancho says he has to be careful in a new city. Pancho suspects that he might have a girlfriend. That elicits a totally surprising response from Temo. Temo tells him to butt out of his life. Pancho is taken aback and is upset with Temo because he has never talked to him that way before. Temo starts to cry. He feels as if Pancho treats him more like he were the twins' age and he isn't. He has done nothing bad but he needs his space. Pancho says without a mother present, his children are his whole life. They hug and Pancho agrees to give him some space. They end up friends as ever.

Robert has coffee with Gabriel and Daniela and tells them about his money woes at his foundation. Gabriel likes the idea of combining his auction with Daniela's exhibition. Lots of people with money will come. He also suggests that people could sign up as godparents for child burn victims and pay for their treatment. Robert is impressed. He thinks it could work. Robert wants to talk to Daniela alone tomorrow about some other things.

Julieta meets with all of the employees at the restaurant. She arrives before Susana. She and Casandra choose drinks without alcohol. When Susana finally does arrive, she starts out by ordering a single no a double mezcal! Julieta's head turns with that choice.

Eugenio talks to Imelda and tells her to just put herself in his shoes. She put death between him and his brothers and their father. He still sees himself as that little boy crying every night for his father. He goes to talk to his brothers.

Susana tries to direct the get-together. Everyone is quiet as she continues to drink. Then the mariachis arrive. She tells them all she hasn't had a drink in years but this get-together merits it. The music plays. Nobody but Susana wants to dance and she does. The employees feel uncomfortable. Julieta takes Susana on the side and warns her that she is either going to fall asleep from all of the alcohol or end up putting on a show. Susana does not want her input. Susana informs her that she will always be farther up the hierarchical chain of command than Julieta is. Susana is her boss and also her aunt. She also has no desire to spend any time with her as her niece. As her boss, she can always fire her. Julieta reminds her of the Board of Directors. No big deal for Susana because she knows she can fire Julieta all on her own. She is her superior. Julieta says it is not her fault for what is going on with the Córcega families and reminds her that she Susana has always emphasized not bringing your personal problems into work. Julieta tells her to lead by example. Susana realizes that the purpose of the meeting was to get to know the employees better but it is not working out as she had hoped. She starts to cry. Julieta leaves her and in a short while Susana is back to drinking and dancing. Some of the employees have to leave. They are soon followed by Julieta and Casandra. Susana is still hanging on with two employees. Nobody can stay and chat and they Susana doesn't mind having some more mezcal to help her forget. She thinks about Canuto and his two families and her mother and downs another shot.

Imelda talks to Robert and Blanca about Eugenio's reaction. Blanca tells her that Eugenio is going through a hard time. He feels like his life is slipping through his fingers. Robert asks Imelda to be patient. Her sons will come around. Robert thanks Blanca for caring for the children. Blanca is all excited for the second round of the "granny competition." Robert hopes that she and Catalina can be cordial. Blanca sees no problem and blesses Robert and his children before they leave.

Eugenio, Tulio and Audifaz meet in the bakery. Eugenio gives his opinion of their mother Imelda. She cut their hair as a punishment when needed. She was a great mom but she killed off their dad. Tulio sees Imelda as an authoritarian but they never wanted for anything. Audifaz sees Imelda as being old now and adds that she always watched out for them although she was a single mother. Canuto comes in and sees them in his mind as the children he left behind. Canuto finally tells his three sons that he is their father. The sons are shocked and upset. Canuto had to face them and tell them how sorry he is. He never thought his "weakness" would have so many consequences. He paid dearly when he lost them. Canuto turns to go when Eugenio asks "don Tito" to have a seat with them. Eugenio insists on calling him "don Tito" /Usted (formal form)/. He asks if he knew that they were his sons when he first came by. Yes, Canuto admits that he did. Canuto just wanted to get to know them again. Audifaz wants to know why he never did before. Canuto insists that they were always important to him even though he did not show that in his deeds. His first unforgivable mistake was cheating on their mother Imelda and the second even bigger mistake was leaving them all behind. Canuto confesses the real reason this all happened was because he was a coward. Imelda prohibited him from returning but that does not really justify a thing. The bottom line is that he did not have the courage to face them all. He was afraid they would despise him. Then life brought him back to Oaxaca. Eugenio sees it all as pretty useless now when all four of them are basically wrinkled up and done for. Canuto says they have a lot more life left in them than he does. He has no right to ask them for anything for himself but he is begging them to not judge their mother. She was the first victim in all of this. His mother gave him her love and he failed her. She did what she thought was the best to protect them. He asks them to hate him but not her.

TOMORROW NIGHT: No episode. We are pre-empted by soccer.

I sure enjoyed this one tonight.

The grandma competition was a hoot. I hope it goes on for a while.

Susana really was on a power trip with Julieta making sure she knew who outranked her at work and in the family.

I never expected Susana to drink herself into oblivion with the employees. Starting off with a double mexcal was not a good sign. She was funny dancing with the mariachis.

Robert was just like a jealous little boy. I expected to see him stomping his feet next and throwing a tantrum. Loved him and Pancho pulling on "mommy" Blanca's arms.

Juls telling susie to keep personal problems outside of work?

Pot calling the kettle black!

Also ironic that juls is fine with cassie calling her "chief" all the time, yet scoffs and rolls her eyes whenever she hears her calling susie "Master".

Yea, the pot and the kettle!

Susie has no one to go to for support on the corcega family woes. The mom doesnt know, the sons don't care about her, and the father hints he still loves clown lipstick Imelda! Looks like he's gonna jump ship as soon as he can!

So were all the mussi kids disinherited from daddy's estate? Cassie working as an assistant without a single complaint of juls? And the other one does what again? Maybe she's still on daddy's payroll, she has a lot of freetime chasing Axel. But yea, gabe is disinherited even after coming to terms with his dad in season one? Unbelievable that with his money woes he wouldnt use his money to help his marriage out. Either way, he needs to grow up big time cause dannys been parenting him too much. His look is very unappealing too. Personal care man. He looks like he doesnt even shower.

Jarifa, this was a great episode but your fine recap even more superior.

"They end up friends as ever" was great.

However, your comment "Robert was just like a jealous little boy. I expected to see him stomping his feet next and throwing a tantrum. Loved him and Pancho pulling on "mommy" Blanca's arms" was perfect and captured the heart of last night's show. A real highlight for me. I've come to really like Daniel Arenas - it is as though this part was tailor made just for him. I smiled as we all have an Achilles' heel, and for Robert, it is his mother. I don't think anything can atone for all the years they spent apart but the green eyed monster is surely eating him alive now. That said, I'm not quite sure who Blanca is filling the void in Pancho's life for, but this competition is quite enjoyable.

"‘He also suggests that people could sign up as godparents for child burn victims and pay for their treatment. Robert is impressed". Yes, I am too. What a wonderful idea Gabe! Glad he is using his creative juices for such a wonderful cause.

"Canuto insists that they were always important to him even though he did not show that in his deeds". Ummm. nopis - you didn't.

Anon, very good question about whether or not Gabe and his sisters were disinherited. I'm thinking the answer must be yes for Gabe, but not sure about the others as only 1 sister seems to be gainfully employed.

And shockingly, I also felt Canuto still might love Imelda. What a tangled web.

Susana is on a downward spiral, continuing her queen of mean. I suspect Pancho will help her turn the tide.

I was also surprised Pancho seems to have no inclination as to what is really going on with his son. When he is with his children, Pancho shines. Elsewhere, he just mumbles :)

Jarifa, another masterpiece. Thank you!

Diana

Thank you for your recap, Jarifa.

Hmm ... will Susana dance on the table? There might be a good reason she hasn’t had a drink in years. 😳

Good Morning, Patio!! Thanks, Jarifa, for another of your stellar recaps...and a belated thank you to Cynthia for her excellent recap and sensational screenshots.

Jarifa, the grandma competition is truly a real hoot, but can you imagine this happening in RL? It would be a fiasco!

Anon 12:41, Good comments on the pot and the kettle. Julieta really needs to take a close look at herself. The only way things can improve for her is if she changes that selfish, controlling attitude she has.

Diana, "I smiled as we all have an Achilles' heel, and for Robert, it is his mother. I don't think anything can atone for all the years they spent apart but the green eyed monster is surely eating him alive now." Another one of your very astute perceptions...always a joy to read your comments :-) I'm still trying to figure out why Robert doesn't like Pancho. He definitely doesn't like the attention Blanca is giving to Pancho and vice versa. So does he think Pancho is going to make a move on Blanca or does he suspect that Pancho will try to pull the wool over Blanca's eyes and try to take advantage of her kindness? It seems far-fetched that Robert would be jealous because he feels Pancho is "stealing" quality time he could have with his mother. When the season started, Blanca complained that she didn't see Robert and the kids enough; so apparently Robert didn't have any qualms about not spending much time with his mother...so why now? But then, it could just be a combination of the many types of jealousies or maybe Robaert just plain doesn't like the man...quien sabe!

Diana, "I was also surprised Pancho seems to have no inclination as to what is really going on with his son." I really thought Pancho was going to figure it out last night., but nopis! So close, yet so far...

Jarifa, thanks much for this excellent and fun recap. ITA that the grandma competition is a real hoot. Blanca is so funny, and she has the judge in her pocket. Buttering up David too.

Blanquita is also funny, in a different way. How she has grown in the last couple of weeks! Soon she will be roller skating and playing the piano :-)

Susana was both funny and sad to watch at the party. She gulped down enough mezcal to kill a couple of people, she's going to be the talk of the company. But that waiter or manager! There Susana was, ready to put her head down on the table and drift off, and he brings her another bottle? Only on TV. In real life a woman her size putting away that much mezcal would probably be on her way to the emergency room.

Too bad she didn't put in an emergency call to Pancho, he could have helped her out. How long will we have to wait to learn what the story is with Pancho and Susana? And now Dr Vicente may be coming to Oaxaca. That could be really interesting. And how will Axel react to Pancho? Not that he has any rights in this...

Rgv Chickie, I do think it is simple jealousy for Robert. He and Pancho are like two boys competing for mom's attention, and they each know it.

:-)

Thanks, Jarifa. Terrific recap.

Eugenio sees it all as pretty useless now when all four of them are basically wrinkled up and done for.

Eugenio said, in a much funnier way, what I've been thinking. Eugenio and Audifaz will forgive Imelda, but what kind of relationship do you carve out late in life with a deadbeat father who moved on and started another family?

The grandma competition is too funny. Poor Catalina is out of her league.

Thank you Jarifa. I came home late last night and missed most of it. I'll watch it on demand later tonight. I did catch where Susana was really hitting the mescal and getting drunk and everyone else had left.

I'll comment more once I've had a chance to watch the episode. I'll have time tonight since there is a soccer game.

Anon, great question about Gabriel being disowned. As Diana said, I do not think the daughters are but I think he might be. I cannot remember from last season.

Diana, The only other place I saw Daniel arenas was in Corazón indomable where he was good in his role but the spotlight was on Ana Brenda Contreras. I really liked him in the first season and my appreciation of his acting keeps growing.

doris, it was interesting seeing Susana three sheets to wherever. If there had been a lamp, the shade would have been on her head.

RgvChick, the fact that we have a granny competition is just what makes this series different than the usual novela “vale of tears”. I so appreciate the well placed humor.

Andy, I, too, think that Robert just wants mom’s attention. For some of us some feelings never change in relation to our parents no matter how old we get.

Niecie, you described Canuto so well.

Cynthia, this episode is well worth the watch. ; )

Thanks everyone for your kind comments and stopping by our legendary patio. Time to put on a pot of café.

So glad to see your post Rgv Chick. I was concerned - I don't think you've ever missed a day! Always look forward to hearing your thoughtful insights.

I'm thinking Robert might have wanted to spend more time with his parents, but that Julieta (albeit lovingly) might have put her foot down. I think she'd had enough of the enveloping family and wanted them to have their own space.

Rgv Chick, Robert might resent the close physical proximity of Pancho to Blanca! A place he once enjoyed. I love his little eyebrow arch lifts! andy, I think Robert and Pancho will end up buddies but only 'cause this is a TN and they are both good people at heart.

Why on earth did Pancho's wife leave and where did she go??

Agree Niecie, Cat is out...No competition there.

doris, Susana can dance. Especially the salsa (Amores Verdaderos). The actress is my favorite and I could watch her all night.

Diana

Diana, thanks for your concern. I had a very hectic day yesterday and by the time I got on to read the recap and comments, the show was about to start.

...and I figured out why Robert can't stand Pancho...because the writers said so! :-) So I won't stress about it anymore. I irks me that these shows get me all worked up; I have to remind myself "It's only a show!"

Rgv Chickie, you are absolutely right! "...and I figured out why Robert can't stand Pancho...because the writers said so! :-)"

Exactly! We wonder why Gabriel has no job and no money, or why he has suddenly developed an interest in motorcycles; why Cassandra is now Julieta's assistant, we wonder a lot of things.

All a waste of time :-)

It's "...because the writers said so! :-)"

:-)

andy

Good morning patio...

Smiling away at your "because the writers said so" Rgv Chick!

Talk about power! The writers get to rule the world. Well, our world at least! :)

Diana

It’s feeling like a grey winter day here. It was in the eighties two days ago. Go figure!

Yes, we do live at the whims of the writers. I am looking forward to tonight’s episode.

Jarifa: Grey winter ? Where are you living at ? Denver, CO ?
