Mi marido tiene más familia Wednesday 10/24/18 Capítulos 33/34 The Flotsam and Jetsam Canuto Left Behind
Julieta explains to Dave how Canuto was related to all of them. She talks about life and death and taking advantage of the time we have with those we love and telling them that.
Pancho is thinking sad thoughts on the roof when Blanca comes out with the laundry. Blanca talks about Robert having gotten lost and how she never lost hope but now she is worried about Eugenio since he seems to have lost his will to live in the face of his father's death. Pancho hugs her and knows she is there to save Eugenio. The next day, Blanca tells both Eugenio and Imelda that they cannot give up. Canuto would not have wanted them to give in.
Imelda is talking with her sons and Robert. Eugenio is blaming himself for Canuto's death. Imelda says it was not his fault. He was like any child who wants to see his parents together again. Tulio, after seeing Crisanta wanting to fight for Canuto's ashes, warns them that she could fight them for everything: the building and the business. They need to realize that everything was in Canuto's name. Robert, later, tells Julieta about the possible legal problems with the properties. Julieta is not just worried about Crisanta but with Susana because you never know with her.
The next morning, Pancho announces that La Burra (now decorated with Bimbo signage) ready to take all of the kids to the school olympics. Dave doesn't want to go to school because he doesn't want to get into a swimming pool. Julieta assures him she will be there and nothing will happen. He brings it up again later and both Julieta and Robert try to calm his fears. It is also the first day of Hugo's hot dog cart. Hugo is worried. Catalina knows they will all be hungry after the olympics.
At Blanca's, the doorbell rings. A gift bag has been left for Frida. Frida takes it and lies to Blanca saying it was just Julio and Lupita at the door. Frida opens the gift bag and it is a pair of heart-shaped sunglasses from her "secret admirer" Camilo. She puts hem on and loves them.
Crisanta's lawyer comes to see her at her home. He tells her that they have discovered property that Canuto owned in Oaxaca that they did not know about previously. It is an apartment building. Susana recognizes the property as where the other Córcega's live. Crisanta remembers Canuto proclaiming his love for Imelda as he was dying. She grabs the papers from the lawyer.
As Pancho tries to find the kids to get ready to leave, he catches Temo taking a photo of himself in his swim trunks. (Temo is not pleased with what he sees.) Temo says he just wanted to see how he looks. Pancho tells him he hopes he isn't getting into anything dangerous.
Gabriel is still not pulling his weight at home. He cannot even put out a fresh roll of toilet paper. Today he is going to interview for a pizza maker job at a pizzeria today. He doesn't get the job. He meets with Daniela at a park and expresses his disappointment that everything seems so easy for everybody but not for him. He feels as alone as when is mother died. Daniela reminds him he is not alone. He has her. Daniela catches Gabriel looking at girls walking by. He explains he isn't looking at the girls but at their dresses and how they fit.She calls him "Don Style". They see Ignacio with Frida and get upset. Ignacio shows them his visitation agreement.
When Julieta and Dave drop off Blanquita, Dave's birthday party and catechism come up. He wants to invite his REAL mother to his party.
In the steam bath at the gym, Robert and Eugenio talk about Canuto. Eugenio is still blaming himself and now they do not even have any ashes to cry over. Robert says it was not his fault and that he will talk to Crisanta himself when things calm down.
Julieta and Dave run into Sebas. Julieta offers to take over for Susana for a few days at work to give her some time off in light of the death of her father. Susana says at least they won't miss "the monster". Susana says that was a joke and is grateful to Julieta. Julieta will take both kids to school. Susana will be at the school olympics.
Tulio with a drink in his hand, has a proposal for Imelda. He will take care of the Córcega's so Susana and Crisanta don't end up taking it all. It is important to keep you friends close but your enemies closer. Imelda cannot imagine Crisanta would even be thinking about "property" in the middle of her mourning. She probably doesn't even know that the building is in Canuto's name. Tulio os not so sure. Imelda doesn't want to deal with it now. Tulio reminds her the property is their inheritance and where almost all of her family lives.
At the school olympics, Pancho arrives with pompoms, noisemakers, etc. to cheer his kids on. Pancho and Susana talk. Pancho tells her she will overcome the pain and that she can count on him.
It is time for the school olympics to begin. Dorian and Julio have put something in the pool to make Sebas pay. It is time for the swimming competition. Dave still doesn't want to get into the water. Ari and Temo offer to be life guards for him and get into the water first. It turns out that the pool has red dye in it and Ari and Temo turn a bright pink. Sebas blames Dorian and Julio. Julio confesses the truth to Pancho. Dave pushes him in the pool because he deserves it. Julieta and Robert are shocked and apologize for Dave's behavior. They have never seen this side of him before. Robert tells him violence is never the answer. Some of the older boys call Ari and Temo "florecitas" (little flowers) and "super gay." In the locker room, one guy tells Ari he has never seen him with a girlfriend. Other boys harass Temo and Ari saying they dyed the water so they could come out of the closet together. Another comment is that the pool has a "gay detector" that turned them pink. Ari almost comes to blows with one of the boys.
In her office, Diana tells them all to be quiet. Diana lectures the children and parents involved in the pool incident that there is a zero tolerance policy towards violence at the school. It comes down to Julio saying that Sebas and Dave annoy everyone by repeating that they are cousins and Sebas calls them "nacos"(ignorant low class people). Dave says that Sebas defends him and family has to stick together. Diana expels Dorian. Sebas is off the hook for today. Dave and Julio get a two day suspension with a report.
At dance class with Blanca, Imelda is having another inferiority attack wondering why Enzo would have wanted her in the first place.
Daniela tries to talk Linda out of seeking out Axel. Linda just wants to support him at this time. Daniela knows her sister better than that and knows she would turn the family upside down to have a chance with Axel. Linda denies it all, of course. Daniela reminds her that Axel is Robert's work colleague, a womanizer, "almost" Clarisa's novio and their COUSIN so it would be "forbidden" love.
Audifaz is on the street trying to sell his book with no results. A flyer taped to a post draws his attention. It says"Do your feel alone and without hope? Find the answer within yourself". Audifaz pulls down all of the flyers he can find and keeps them. "find the answer in yourself" seems to resonate with him.
Susana tells Julieta there is another meeting that afternoon with the same investors she dealt with last time. Julieta tells her they will not be leaving without signing a contract.
Eugenio is at his therapy with Axel and is in pain. He sees no point on his physical therapy. Eugenio and Axel both wish Canuto were there. Eugenio asks if Axel blames him for his father's death. Axel tells him no but his grandfather's and his grandmother's hearts were broken that day. Eugenio laments the fact that now there is no reason for the families to get together anymore. Linda bursts in to see Axel. Linda says yes she came to see how Eugenio was doing but also to support Axel since he is a family member. Eugenio doesn't look like he believes her. Later he tells her that he knows she came looking for Axel. He does not want her seeing him. She says she is old enough to do what she wants. Eugenio reminds her as long as she lives in his home, she will live by his rules.
The hot dog cart is ready to go and start selling! Blanca has to come by and criticize them for selling hot dogs and not local food. Catalina and Hugo have a bunch of cheers ready to yell to their customers. "Una salchicha al día, qué alegría!" ( A sausage a day. What joy!) "Compras perros calientes y verás cuantos nutrientes" (When you buy hot dogs, you will see so many nutrients!) (they sound good in Spanish because they rhyme) Pancho buys a hot dog. The first day of hot dog sales ia a success. Hugo can see "Jo Jochos" going worldwide!
Blanca will not let Frida have a hot dog because they are going home to eat. Ignacio pops up with a court order that allows him to see Frida twice a week. Robert looks at the document and it is legal. Ignacio is taking is daughter out to eat. At lunch, Frida tells Ignacio that she misses him but he is like a magician. he always disappears. He says it is the same with her mother. Frida disagrees because her mother is working. Ignacio loves her and promises to change and be a good father. Gabriel and Daniela run into Ignacio and Frida. He shows them the visitation court order, too.
Julieta asks Dave what was going on at school. Dave says that Sebas defends him. Julieta tells him he shouldn't copy the bad habits Sebas' has. Dave screams at her that she just doesn't like Sebas just like she doesn't like Sebas' mother. Robert scolds Dave on his rudeness to his mother. Dave cannot talk to his mother or anyone like that. Robert asks him what is wrong. Dave says he doesn't really matter to them. They spend all of their time with Blanquita. He is not really a part of the family. Julieta sees all of these ideas coming from Sebas. Dave says it is not fair. Robert punishes him for what he did at school and for how he talked to his mother. No tv, tablet, videos, TV for one week. That should give him time to think about what he did.
Tulio makes a visit to Susana and Crisanta. He is on a peace mission and is on their side. Tulio explains that he and his family have never been on the same page. Tulio is all alone just like them so he wants to get to know hem better. He doesn't see it as a betrayal because he just wants everyone to be at peace. He would like them to let him intercede on their part.
Blanca gets a pair of reading glasses and the world is clearer. She writes about the family in her journal. At the same time, Dave is jumping on his bed. He falls off and hits his head. It is bleeding. Julieta via her computer sees that Dave had an accident at home. Pancho will take Dave and Blanca to the emergency room. She cannot leave work but will be there ASAP. There is good news at the hospital. There is no fracture. Blanca blames herself. Dave says it was his fault for jumping on the bed. Axel says this is a common incident with kids. They stitch him up. Robert thanks Pancho for taking care of his family. Pancho notices that he called him "Pancho" and not "Francisco". Pancho wants to know if Robert is done punishing him because he is jealous if his relationship with his parents. Robert has no time to talk now because he has to tend to his child.
The major investor is impressed that Julieta could run the meeting looking out for the interests of Cklass all the while monitoring her son's care on her phone. He signs the contract.

Julieta and Robert never should have forced Dave to do the swimming competition if he didn't want to.
It looks like Julieta and Robert are starting to see parts of Dave's personality they never experienced before. Julieta is right that Sebas is a bad influence and Dave's time with him should be limited or cut to just school if necessary. but it seems like all of these parents have a hard time saying "no" to their children or telling them what to do.
I don't think Sebastian is entirely at fault of Dave's new behavior though, because Julieta is partly to blame too. We know that Dave has been paying attention to her behavior, such as when he called her out for calling Susana "la monster," and reminded her that name calling is bad. Therefore it can be assumed that Dave has noticed that Julieta doesn't cope well with her anger and frustrations; she throws tantrums, if you will, and she gets very passive aggressive, particularly with Robert. If anything, Dave's snappy outbursts can actually be reflective of her fights with Robert. He's learning behavior directly from the household, not just from Sebastian, and though Robert usually is calm, recently we've seen that he hasn't been centered either, and that he loses his cool too, and makes sudden outbursts. Add to that the fact that he has difficult extended family, a fear of water, recent death of a lost grandfather, inability to make more friends and inability to defend himself from bullying, it's no wonder that his behavior has taken a downturn. Yes, Sebastian is partially at fault, but Dave looks up to him because his friend seems to be "coping" well with his own problems and yet remains so sure of himself.
When they start cutting episodes up can they please cut out all of the Linda parts? I can deal with axel, but goddamn Linda is insufferable to watch. Notice she likes to chase men? She was so desperate with bruno and now she's heading that same path with Axel. And its her seeking him out, not really him. To top it off she shows up to his place of work dressed like she's ready for a one night stand? Even her dad didnt buy her cheap lie about seeking out her cousin to provide comfort. please end this storyline already. It's not only icky, its just so annoying. Its more annoying than anything else.
To Gabriel: some people in life don't ever get to do their calling. And they dont have the luxury to constantly try out jobs and just remain jobless, depending on the spouse to carry them through those episodes. Man up. And be presentable. What did he even shave to begin with? Hes starting to look like hes homeless. He dresses like a slob. Daniela can do so much better.
Gabriel looking at girls walking by. He explains he isn't looking at the girls but at their dresses and how they fit. Yeah, I used to use that line too :-)
But in Gabriel's case it might just be true and a hint where his real career might be found. I do think he needs to clean himself up more, especially that wild beard. If he starts working in fashion and wants to keep a beard it will have to be well trimmed for a "distinguished" look rather than that of a wild, recently homeless person. I don't like his hair, but that's just me. A full head of hair goes over well in appearance conscious businesses.
Speaking of appearances, we have a full complement of pretty little girls in this show. The current Blanquita is a calm little cutie, little burned Gavi is extremely cute, and Lupita is adorable. David is going to kick himself in a few years for not chasing her :-)
What's up with Tulio? Does he now have a drinking problem? And what happened to all his wealth, is he still rich?

I do love these messages in the telenovelas. Because we need reminders when we get annoyed with our families. I had to laugh also when you noted that Gabriel "cannot even put out a fresh roll of toilet paper." Wow...how many years have I picked a roll of toilet paper off the floor because the kids, or Bob, didn't bother to put it on the roll?! Same thing used to happen at the dance studio where I taught. The world is evidently divided between those who do and those who don't!
I agree with Andy that you are both a real trooper and a real trouper Jarifa. Double episodes are the worst and your and Cynthia's recaps are the best. Thank you so much.
Absolutely fantastic recap.
“Amalia is having another inferiority attack” made me smile. I’ve never seen anyone so uncoordinated but give her and Blanca props for trying!
Dave “wants to invite his REAL mother to his party”. She has already been invited Dave. She is hosting it. I am very discouraged and anxious about Dave’s character change. This is not good.
Julieta's face mirrored her pain during his little rant and rave. I felt terrible for her.
I agree that while Sebas may not be the best influence in many cases, his staunch loyalty has proven he is a true friend. I shudder to think what bullying Dave would have been subjected to had Sebas not stepped in. That said, Sebas is effectively bullying himself by his name calling of Pancho's kids. Not nice.
“Hugo's hot dog cart”. Sigh. It doesn’t seem quite fair that Gabe is perpetually front and center for needing to grow up, yet Hugo is the most childlike and immature.
I am crossing my fingers that Gabe might have a career in fashion design. Now that would be great fun.
Is Tulio double crossing his family? His cruelty to Imelda was well documented in the first season. And he kept silent about Robert's abduction all those years. Andy, I don't know about the drinking but he is not a good man.
Judy, I'm laughing as putting a new roll of toilet paper out does seem to be beyond many, doesn't it? I like the "those who do and those who don't". So true!
Perhaps there will be a truce between Robert and Pancho.
I wish Linda would take a hike as well. Her character is just annoying and I would like to see more of Clarissa. Axel, you have no taste. Obvio.
Jarifa, so wonderful of you to recap, especially these long episodes. Don't know how you do it but heartfelt thanks!
Diana
"Canuto leaves. He has had enough problems for one day." This line from Jarifa's recap two episodes ago came to mind during Canuto's funeral. Very fitting for his passing, too. The guy finally checked out of LIFE because it was getting too muckled up.
"Gabriel is still not pulling his weight at home. He cannot even put out a fresh roll of toilet paper."
That is just pathetic. Seriously. That's a big bowl of wrong. Worthless! Dude, man up! Sheesh!
Gabe's wild hair & beard remind me of the movie Castaway. That visual mess probably reflects his inner self. Lost child. A stint in the USMC might do him some good.
Eugenio is starting to wear out my patience. Okay, honestly, he has already done so.
You guys are going to give me a big head but thanks. 😊 This has been a slog but things are back to normal next week. Yay!
The expression on Crisanta's face when she grabbed the papers will lead to no good. She has a good head on her shoulders and she can come up with some doozies when plotting revenge. I know that Cris and Imelda didn't like each other from the getgo, but to seek revenge because of the mess Canuto created is senseless. Neither of the ladies is at fault for Canuto's indiscretions.
Anon 12:29, ITA with you about Dave's new behavior. Juls shouldn't blame Sebas entirely. She needs to look at her own behavior that is giving Dave mixed messages.
Andy, Gabe's appearance has changed from Season 1 to now. Curly hair is hard to manage, but it can be done; and the beard with a good trimming can be an eye catcher..in a good way :-) Doris, another very insightful interpretation of the "visual Mess"!
JudyB, both Jul's and Susana's explanations and advice about death were truly noteworthy...my two favorite scenes.
Diana, a career in fashion design (or anything really) would be awesome for Gabe. I'm just wondering what certifications he got from his schooling..or maybe he just got them to please Dad?
Diana, I don't think Tulio is doublecrossing his family, but he does have that history of being ruthless. I, like Andy, am wondering about his current financial status; he hasn't mentioned going to work and is always around. He seems to be the most concerned about the other Corsega's taking the property, but is it out of concern for his family or is he concerned about losing whatever portion is his? Me thinks it's the latter.
Doris, Eugenio, along with a few others, are wearing out my patience too :-/
#thougtsandprayersforSusanlynn
I don't blame Sebs or Juli for Dave's behaviour. At some point he was going to start lashing out. He is an adopted child and if I've learned anything from all of my adoption classes, is that there will be outbursts and incidents that seem to come from nowhere. Dave is finding his voice.
How did smart Diana end up with Hugo? Yes, he is extremely good looking but that only takes ya so far!
I don't think Tulio would double cross the family at this point. I do think he is going to try to work Susana and Crisanta. I hate that the show has come to this.
I've been pretty absent of late. What is going on with susanlynn?
We are all very concerned about her. We have not heard anything since she posted that brief statement a few weeks ago.
Diana
Eugenio is still blaming himself and now they do not even have any ashes to cry over. Robert says it was not his fault and that he will talk to Crisanta himself when things calm down.
For pete’s sake, leave Crisanta alone about those ashes. She was with the man for 50 years and should have them. Robert is getting on my nerves trying to please everyone.
It was tough watching Ari and Temo being bullied. I'm so ready for Temo to have a heart to heart with Pancho. Poor Ari -- sweet Audifaz is so ineffectual that I don't see him being much help.
Maybe I missed it, but I never saw Sebas say anything about David's parents treating him differently because he's adopted. David and Sebas were excited to learn they're cousins -- period, nothing about adoption. Could it be the Corsegas's pride about being "Corsegas!" is what got David thinking about his birth parents? Lots of adoption in my family and the kids haven't seemed to wonder about their birth parents until the teen years.
I know you are all going to hate me, but I have to do it, Gabriel's thoughtlessness is forcing me:
You never fully appreciate what you have until it's gone.
Toilet paper is one example.
:-p
:-)
andy
I am wondering what Tulio's angle is. I just KNEW that Crisanta would want to cause trouble for Canuto's first family. I'll bet she is so angry that she will try to throw them out of their home and take over the bakery. But newsflash! You can't get even on a dead person. This is really flotsam and jetsam that Canuto left behind. Getting even is not going to help anything.
Well I sure hope that even in TN land that it will be shown that if Imelda and Canuto never divorced, that Imelda is the true widow and inherits the property.
Well Gabriel should be good at something! Didn't he go to college and major in business or something? Or did he get a degree in underwater basketweaving? He seems like a great salesman, so marketing should be his forte. But get a clue Gabe, be a man and stop acting like a little boy!
