TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#2): Falsa Identidad, El Recluso, y más: Week of October 1, 2018

TELEMUNDO WEEKEND EDITION (continuación)
Here's Page 2 for the week.  The current evening telenovelas are as follows (all times are Eastern Daylight Time):
  • 9-10PM - Falsa Identidad
  • 10-11PM - El Recluso
Señora Acero 5 is scheduled to begin on October 15 at 10 PM to replace El Recluso, which is a short series.

They've been showing promos of La Sultana. The internet says it is a Turkish telenovela about a young woman who becomes "La Sultana" during the Ottoman Empire, early 1600's.  It's obvious from the promos that it's dubbed into Spanish. It's projected to begin on October 29; and, we assume, will replace Exatlón in the 8:00 PM time period..

Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation.  Since discussions of all the Telemundo novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post so readers can easily find the conversation they're looking for.

By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production.  Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin.  This includes references to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel.  Thanks for your cooperation!

"IDENTIDAD":

WOW! Super bloodthirsty!

Identidad

looks like Halloween came early for Porfirio.

identidad

Lots of interesting developments last night. Here are some of them:

Diego steals a license plate from a parked car and puts it on his car to replace the one the police are looking for. He is nonetheless asked to get out of the car at a checkpoint. The cop says something about his license plate. Turns out that the license plate is simply hanging by a single screw. Whew! Diego asks the cop to lend him a screwdriver to fix it, and then he's allowed to pass.

Jim explains to the dancers that he's trying to get a loan from the bank so Babel can continue. Ramona is eavesdropping.

In response to a call from Felipa, José arrives. When Circe expresses contempt for him and refuses to go with him, he grabs her violently and takes her away. Felipa is angry that her beloved cards have apparently betrayed her.

Porfirio breaks up the floor of the bathroom, finds some long hairs and a woman's ring. He then goes into the livingroom and looks at a photo album that includes a wedding photo of his mother and father. He sees that the ring his mother is wearing is very similar to the one he found buried under the bathroom floor. When Mateo comes back, Porfirio accuses him of killing his (Porfirio's) mother. We see the scene in the past where Mateo comes home early and finds his wife about to leave with their young son, Porfirio. It looks as if Porfirio's accusations in the present are correct. Mateo first denies that he killed her, but then reminds Porfirio that he has often said he wanted to kill Isabel for running away. Porfirio replies that he said such stupidities when he was drunk. He'd never really do such a thing. He calls Mateo an assassin.

José ties up a screaming and defiant Circe and claims he'll tie her up every night to prevent her from leaving. She has to learn to obey him. She continues to berate him, and he finally puts what looks like duct tape over her mouth.

Deivid is talking on the phone to Diego when José and the rest of the thugs return. José asks who he's talking to. He accuses Deivid of lying to Gavino about killing Felipa--she's still alive and well. And Deivid is a traitor. The next time we see Deivid, he is kneeling on the floor with his shirt off, and José is beating him mercilessly. Piochas finally tell José to stop and just shoot him, but José says that would be a gift for Deivid. He then tells one of the thugs to get information about the whereabouts of Deivid's jefacita, which I think refers to his mother (though conceivably a girlfriend, if he has one). Deivid pleads with José to leave his family out of this. Yeah, right.

OMG--Marlene's novio is Augusto!! [Excuse me while I vomit.] He is shown to be a total scumbag [surprise, surprise]. He complains (in front of Diana, whom he has just met) about the food Marlene serves, and he disparages Diana's attending the University. He also notes that Diana is 18 years old and beautiful, and I immediately fear for her safety. The dismayed, disgusted look on Diana's face says what we're all thinking. All but Marlene, who seems to have suddenly had a frontal lobotomy, though I think even she is uneasy.

Though José accuses Deivid of being a traitor, I guess it takes one to know one. We see José visit Gavino in jail and promise to help. He swears that he'd cut off his hand before he'd betray Gavino. He leaves Gavino and talks with Gavino's lawyer. He tells the lawyer that he, José, is the new leader of the cartel, and he offers to pay the lawyer twice what Gavino is paying him, so that Gavino will stay in jail.

Identidad

wow, that was a terrific summary, Juanita! you are very good at these shorts ones!

I thought I saw a bony hand that Porfirio pulled the ring off of, did he leave, I guess we all hope this will change him, but will he go back to Isabel as a new man, (too late buddy).

Marlene has lived the good life, with a paid for swank apartment, and apparently true to her lover, but still, how could anyone fall for Au(dis)gusto, and I'm guessing he has never cooked a meal in his life, hmm, for some reason he wants Diana gone, or...

so Diego changed the rear license plate, but what about the front one?

yep, Amanda is not having any new dads.

and Fernanda is hurt that Augusto didn't come to Elisio's funeral, (will you ever quit thinking about this guy)

and as Au(dis)gusto tells Marlene, his mean wife wouldn't let him go.

Juanita, loved your reference yesterday on Circe, the flip side to being a Reina, yep, Jose got her away from Felipe but couldn't take her back to the boys and now she is tied up and gagged, with a smashed phone and bleeding lip, till she learns to say, "yes Jose", might be a couple of days before she bats those eyelashes at him, and gets him with the program.

Identidad

hmm, and apparently Joselito (don't call me that) is giving Felipa a pass, since he didn't kill her or reveal where she is.

identidad

Thanks SO much for the concise recap, Juanita. I really appreciate it. I've had a busy week, one night at Spanish class and the other two at, respectively, my neighborhood association meeting and then last night a City Council candidates forum in which some of them actually revealed something!

José is fully on the dark side now. Yes, the jefa is Deivid's mother and apparently his only living relative. José actually justifies this as the way to cement Deivid's identity as really, really in the gang. At least they haven't found out he's in touch with Diego.

I feel badly about my lack of sympathy for Circe. But she's bad to the bone as well. She didn't mean to kill Eliseo, but then only was worried about Diego finding out. She even turned on her nana when she hinted Diego would find out. So, I'm not shedding any tears over her being held captive and slapped around.

Well, we all suspected Augusto as Marlene's novio, especially with his having taken all the money with him. And we saw him in, I think, an airport bar with his suitcase by his side.

And he isn't even nice to Marlene. Diana's look of horror was quite noticeable. Marlene looked uncomfortable, but I suspect she'll put up with him to keep the apartment.

I can't imagine how Porfirio will continue to live with his murdering father. From the flashback the boy was plenty old enough to have loved and remembered his mother.

Also asesino in telenovelas most commonly means killer or murderer. In novelas they usually use sicario for a contract killer or assassin.

identidad

Thanks, deb, for bringing up Amanda. Not only is she furious her mother has the temerity to have a boyfriend, she tries to enlist Ricas in her pout, saying that they only have one dad. If she doesn't get over this soon, I am worried she's going to royally mess up Diego and Isa's budding love and probably regret it at leisure.

identidad

Muchas gracias, deb and novelera.

deb, I loved your "Au(dis)gusto"! And you do such a terrific job of suggesting without spelling it out, as in "for some reason he wants Diana gone, or..." "Or," indeed!

As for the front license plate, I know that in the US, some states only use a rear plate (or, at least, that used to be the case.) It's possible that's true in some Mexican states as well. Actually, I was uneasy when Diego casually tossed aside the old plate. He wasn't all that far from the car whose plate he stole. If the guy whose plate was stolen makes a fuss, and someone points to the license plate lying not all that far away....

novelera, I share your worry about Amanda screwing things up, perhaps with another phone call to Daddy Drearest.

Also, thanks very much for the info about asesino vs. sicario in telenovelas.

identidad

I meant to say something about Diana's expressions upon meeting and then watching Au(dis)gusto [thanks, deb!]. I thought the actress playing Diana did a very impressive job, first with the look upon seeing him ("huh?" coupled with dismay) and then a slightly more overt look of dismay and disgust after listening to Au(dis)gusto express his opinions (and scary lewdness).

Identidad

Juanita, fab job.

Felipa is angry that her beloved cards have apparently betrayed her.

Actually, Felipa’s cards did not betray her when they told her to call José. His hauling Circe off, even ducktaping her screaming mouth, is saving her from Gavino’s hit men.

Gavino seemed to give José a measured look when his right-hand man said he’d never betray him.

Deb, too funny: Au(dis)gusto.

Poor Marlene. Lovely apartment, but rats! now he's separated from his wife and will be hanging around there all the damn time.

Goodness, when even Piochas says quit it, you know you've gone too far.

Porfirio seemed like he wanted justice for his mom's murder. He better watch his back.

Identidad--
Terrific rundown, Juanita. Thank you. And for all the fill-ins from the comments. Like everyone else, my disgusto welled up in my throat when I saw Au(dis)gusto (good one deb). But I wasn't the least surprised. Ugh. He's such a creep. I guess Marlene liked what she got from him--just not him all the time. He had his nerve complaining about her cooking and just about everything else about her and her sister and he just got there. Yep, Diana had better watch out. He's just an old letch.

The license plate trade worried me, too. Only because when they turn in the rental car it will have a different plate on it. But that seems to have been a minor blip since they all returned home together.

Isa's hair still bothers me.

identidad

Re: Aug(dis)gusto was pretty glib with the lie. Marlene, who has a good heart, wondered why he didn't stay around Álamos to comfort Fernanda and to attend Eliseo's funeral. That is when, IIRC, he started saying Fernanda was a nasty, horrible person.

Falsa Identidad
Friday Oct 5, 2018, Chapter 19 Part 1-3

*MATEO retrieves the remains of Alicia from under the shower floor. He had killed her when she tried to leave him, taking Porfi with her. He gruesomely makes love to the skull. Porfi in in a bar getting drunk as he realizes his dad is a misogynist killer who made him believe his mother was a zorra who abandoned him. He swears to go find Isa and get her back—the right way. Mateo gets a call and goes to retrieve his drunken son and bring him home. Porfi tells his dad he’s going to the city to find his family. He doesn’t want to end up alone, like Mateo.

Once Porfi falls asleep, Mateo takes the remains of his wife out to a barrel and burns them, saying that he loved her well, but never wants to see her again.

Porfi wakes up from his drunken stupor a changed man with a new purpose in life.

*AMANDA is being a pill. She’s not settling in the way Isa had hoped. The plate and the eggs Diego prepared for her ends up on the floor. She shrugs it off. She doesn’t like eggs. She goes off to get ready for her first day at a new school. Isa tells Diego she’s sure she did it on purpose. Diego says to give her time. Isa looks at Diego with more love in her heart than before. She certainly smiles at him a lot more. Diego says he understands how Amanda feels as he recalls how he rebelled when his ma married Disgusto. It doesn’t make Isa a bad ma. Isa says maybe Diego’s ma isn’t a bad person either. He starts to say that’s a different story, but it’s time to go to school.

Amanda is registered successfully. In a moment alone, She tells Isa she's not really happy that Isa has a boyfriend. She doesn't want another pa. No, she doesn't want to go back to her pa, but she wants just the three of them together. Besides, her pa told her that in the city, women are in danger of being robbed, assaulted and killed, worse than in Alamos.

*FERNANDA has to tell her household staff that Disgusto ran off with all her money and she can no longer pay their salaries. She’s initiated legal proceedings, but it might take a long time. She’s really sorry. Zoraida and Salas swear they will never leave her. Later, more bad news arrives. Disgusto mortgaged the property and stopped making payments on the note six months ago. She must vacate the property. Her eyes are finally open to the twerp her hub was. Fernanda sadly packs up the house. She tells Salas she’ll not be run off like a dog. She will leave with her head held high and her dignity intact.

Salas gives Fernanda the bad news about the legal proceedings with the banks. The bankers have decided they can’t help her. It’s too close to elections. Fernanda says everyone is a liar.

*DISGUSTO tells Marlene he put all his money in her account. Marlene is totally surprised. He says he trusts her and it’s a test of her love and besides, he fears Fernanda’s reprisals when he files for divorce. Diana enters after hearing him say they are going to live their love (barf)—just the two of them. Marlene insists it will be the three of them and Disgusto and Diana should make an effort to get along. He’s in a hurry to leave—clients to see, cars to buy. Marlene admits to Diana that Disgusto has a personality problem, but he’s a good man, good to her and she loves him. While Fernanda is being evicted, Disgusto buys himself a fancy new convertible.

Falsa Identidad Chapter 19 Part 2/3
*CHUCHO and “Emiliano” get back together at work and chat while they work. He confesses that his family problem was that his bro/bestie was murdered. Diego gets a call from Zoraida and she and Salas fill Diego in on his ma’s situation. He listens. Salas takes over and fills Diego in on stuff about Disgusto he didn’t know, like his relationship with the Gavino cartel, the government officials corrupted in order to move drugs into the U.S. Besides that, he killed Ramiro and also used Gavino’s “donation” to advance Eliseo’s political career. Zori wants Diego to take Fer to the city. Diego thinks that’s a crazy idea. She tries pulling the emotional “she gave you life” strings, but Diego says all he can do is send her cash. Chucho and Diego continue their chat about the differences in their mothers.

It’s payday and the boss has decided to dock Diego 3 days' pay. It’s unfair to both men, since Chucho had to cover all the work while Diego was gone. Boss says that’s the law. No work, no pay. Chucho has to hold Diego back from getting into fisticuffs and getting fired.

*FELIPA hides herself in Joselito’s truck, knowing he’ll take her to where he is holding Circe. Joe cements his new position as head of the cartel while Gavino is in jail, much to Piochas’ skepticism and resentment. Joe announces he’s going to go deal with the Colombianos by himself—to show good faith. He drives away.

Before Joe can abuse Circe more than he already has, Felipa comes up behind him and hits him in the back with a shovel. He tumbles over. Of course, she makes the perennial mistake in all telenovelas—she fails to tie him up or hit him again, and turns her back on him to untie Circe. He gets up and gets the drop on them and it looks like he is back in charge. Circe kicks Joe where it really hurts a guy. They roll over and over while she tells him what an abominable creature he is. Felipa finally gets ahold of the loose gun and fires it into his back. It hits him in the shoulder. He starts to bleed and Circe says he’s now alone to bleed to death. (Which he doesn’t, regrettably.) The two women flee to carry out Circe’s original plan to go to the city with false papers and passport. Felipa tries to reason with her not to do it.

Joe returns to the ranch all bloody. He blames the Colombianos (that’s the macho way).

MARLENE tells Isa at Babel that things are worse than bad. She repeats what we already know about Eliseo and Diego. They'll be after her, next. She uses that to scare Isa into leaving Diego. Isa defends Diego and says they have actually formalized their relationship and they are now novios. Marlene says he’s not right for her. Isa tries to excuse Diego’s narco career as being in the past, but Marlene insists that once a narco, always a narco. He can’t jus “leave” the life. He’s marked forever. Isa, still trying, says *he* wasn’t a narco himself, he just had *business* with them. Marlene is worried about her after Isa says she’s staying with Diego.

Marlene tells Isa about the beating Jim got and Lourdes’ disappearance. Marlene clues Isa in on who runs Babel. It’s the same cartel that’s trying to kill Diego, so they can’t talk to anybody about that side of the business.

Jim walks by. Isa wants to talk to him. Isa was right about the waitresses being held against their will. Ramona takes their papers away. Jim got a beating for speaking out about it. Now that he knows what’s going on, he has to make do until the find a new associate. Isa tries to take the blame for what happened to him, but he says no. Then he makes a reference to her abusive husband. It takes an instant for her to realize he’s talking about “Emiliano.” She assures him they are OK.

Falsa Identidad Chapter 19 Part 3/3
GAVINO is moldering in jail. He’s pissed that his attorney hasn’t contacted the Presidente yet. The lawyer says the Pres isn’t taking his calls. Gavino orders him to get through and tell him that he needs to get out of jail or he’ll start singing all the canary songs he knows about the corruption in the highest places. Meanwhile, he needs to pay for protection, otherwise, the Colombians will make mincemeat of him. He tells him to get Joe on it, pronto. The lawyer remembers Joe’s double-the-money offer and suggests that maybe it would be a good thing for Gavino to stay in jail until things calm down and he’s forgotten. Yeah, says Gavino, that coming from a guy on the outside. The lawyer gets to walk away.

DIEGO has picked up Amanda and Ricas from school. He and Amanda start to have a decent conversation until he uses a slang term for friends, compías. She takes offense and leaves the room. He dials his ma but doesn’t say anything. She’s pretty sure it’s Diego on the other end. She moves toward the balcony. With no other options that she sees for herself, she decides life is not worth living under these new circumstances. A fall from the balcony is preferable. She slowly climbs the railing....

Identidad

Wow, what a wonderful recap Anita !!!

I think you got it all, and so professionally done, what a treat!

yep, Porfi's a new man, as he twirls his mom's wedding ring, let's see how soon he quits drinking and gets a job.

I'm having trouble with Marlene telling Disgusto she loves him, hmm, let's suppose they spent very little time together, one night stands, and he gave her everything, and she was young, like Isa when she married Porfi, so how did she end up in Mexico city, probably Disgusto's idea to get some space, hmm, they haven't said how she got the job at Babel, so what would qualify Marlene to give love advice to Isa?

Diana seems so much more mature.

once again they speak of Jim's desire for a new partner, hmm, would the new money in Marlene's account make her a canidate?

did Diego say he would only send money to his mother, didn't he tell his boss that he couldn't but a pack of chewing gum with the money he was paid?

an interesting twist to the story is that Diego/Isabel is not a gran amor, more like two desperate people thrown together that have grown accustomed to each other, and there is the part where Everyone has told Isa that Diego is nothing but trouble, and they are all right, hmm, and I'm guessing there won't be a bring-your-daughter-to-work-day.

Fernanda succumbing to Disgusto's charms, or was it a fear of being alone, as the world closes in on her I can't help but notice that she is a foot taller than everyone, does the dwarf Salas have a chance?

talk about a torrid love affair, Circe and Jose, how did Diego ever hold on to the reins while tapping into forbidden pleasures, perhaps Circe can see the good in him, and is being drawn toward the light.

identidad

What a terrific recap, Anita! Clear, complete, compelling.

I guess Porfirio has to remain in the novela for the plot to make sense, but I nonetheless found myself thinking that when he started badmouthing Mateo, Mateo might decide to shut him up for good and reunite him with his mother.

I can't wait for Marlene to find out what Disgusto is really like. I suspect I may have to wait for a while, however. Sigh.

I would have thought that with all her cards to guide her, Felipa would have known not to make "the perennial mistake in all telenovelas." Damn, she should watch Telemundo!

I was a bit surprised at Gavino's saying that if the higher-ups don't help him, he'll sing like a canary. I guess blackmail is just about Gavino's only weapon at the moment, but surely he knows that a person in prison who makes threats against powerful people is likely to wind up a dead canary. [He too should watch Telemundo :-)]

"IDENTIDAD":

Juanita: Why is Marlene staying with a domestic abuser ?

identidad

Fantastic recap, Anita! The descriptions were excellent and with a fine dose of sarcasm to go along with.

Boy, are they ever making me long for a reckoning for Disgusto. So he's been married for many years to a beautiful and dignified woman. Now he has a much younger beautiful woman to jump into bed with. [Please, Telemundo, don't ever show us Disgusto bedding Marlene.] As the cherry on the sundae he goes to the luxury car place and tells the guy that with lots of money and a car like this one, no woman will be able to resist him! Gah!

I loved your comment about the "perennial mistake". Over and over we yell at our screens in vain: Finish the guy off or tie the guy up. Very seldom ever happens.

It's so frustrating to watch Marlene continually telling Isabel that Diego is "inappropriate". Diego has done nothing but help Isabel from the beginning. He's been a kind father figure to Ricas. And has put up with Amanda's crap, even saying he understood, having had a stepfather himself. And, in contrast, Disgusto immediately tries to freeze out Marlene's much loved younger sister. I suppose for Marlene: appropriate=$$$$

Also, Marlene doesn't seem to find a character flaw in Disgusto putting all his money into her account to hide it from his wife of so many years. I hope this moving of the money comes back to bite him in the hindquarters.

So I'm not sure what to make of Ramona's listening at the door when Jim was talking about trying to get a business partner. I guess she'll try to ruin his plans because she's loyal to Gavino? Really?

So, in the perfect definition of the term ilusa Circe plans to go to DF (population 21 million) and locate Diego. Of course, this being a telenovela, she'll probably do it!

Identidad

Thanks, Anita. Fab job.

Joe returns to the ranch all bloody. He blames the Colombianos (that’s the macho way). -- lol

Not surprised when Joselito rose up quickly after a shovel whack to the head. That head is way too hard. I bet he’s still determined to make Circe his and will pop up in DF too.

He swears to go find Isa and get her back—the right way.

Can Porfirio drop his violent misogynist ways overnight? Mateo had years messing him up.

In Marlene, I’m not seeing love for Augusto. My take is she looks up to him as a protector because of his money and (gag) higher social standing. She thinks this fool embodies class.

Wondering about Deivid. Will he flee the gang the first chance he gets? Did they really go after his jefa?

Identidad

Did I hear Circe tell Felipa that she was going to DF because she had family there? Did she mean Diego...or could Ramona be her aunt???

Great comments for a Sunday morning. Starting backwards here are some musings.

Anon at 11:12--if that's what you heard about Circe having family in DF, you probably nailed it with Ramona. Otherwise, why would there be a connection between Gavino, her father, being the "silent" partner and Ramona running the laundry and trafficking of women side of the business. If Circe does make it to DF and Ramona, I bet it won't be long before Isa is fingered and leads her to Diego...ahh, intrigue...

Niecie--it's hard to take a wait and see about Deivid's ma. I think that would be the breaking point for Deivid, regardless of his loyalty to Diego (to report on the whereabouts of the Gaona cartel out to get him). He should already feel the sense of doom over his own head. The ranch gang thinks nothing of shooting and killing anyone, from their own family members to innocent bystanders at a funeral.

Porfi seems to be ok W/OUT a woman and W/OUT booze. He's finally seen through Mateo's true nature and doesn't want to be like him. He seems to be a softie at heart and turned to drinking when his career tanked. Some people get violent when drunk and get away with it if it's a domestic partner or if alone. Then they seem to be ok when sober--however long that lasts.

novelera--I wonder, too, about Marlene's insistence on Diego's being inappropriate. Did she know him in Alamos? Did he have anything to do with her leaving Alamos? Maybe it was only Disgusto's offer to set her up somewhere away from his wife and her family and so she could follow her dancing dreams. Marlene wanted the good life and that's what Disgusto offered. I agree, it's not love...money=appropriateness, of which Diego has none. I felt sorry for Isa when she told Marlene she needed to keep the Babel job because she doesn't want to be dependent on Diego. She feels that way since she has two children who aren't his.

Juanita--Mateo has been covering for Porfi for a long, long time and brain washing him in the meantime. It's only now that Porfi has decided to buck his dad. You may be right about Mateo choosing to off his son, but that would be a very difficult decision. For now, I should think he needs Porfi to help get his grandchildren back. I think he's convinced that Porfi is a lost cause and has pinned his future legacy on Amanda and Ricas. I'm putting my own thoughts into the story, but I think Porfi is known and tolerated and even liked among his buds where he hangs out in Alamos. Mateo would have to plan very carefully to make him "disappear" without it coming back to the local police force to investigate.

deb--I agree with you in your short observation on Diana. I hope she will be able to escape Disgusto's clutches. He already looked her over, up and down. Thank goodness it wasn't Mateo looking her over, no? I loved your statement about Diego/Isa not being the gran amor. In a way, it's refreshing not to have that "love at primera vista" thing and being kept apart by circumstances until the end. Instead, we get the reverse. Very perceptive.

Diana and Chucho are the ones who seem to be struck hard by cupid. Wonder how that will work out. Chucho had to leave school to help support his mother and his siblings, living in a cuartucho with roommates, while Diana seems to be living a life of privilege in a nice apartment, going to school and not needing a job to support herself or other family members.

Yep, I can see Marlene dipping into Disgusto's treasure trove for this or that emergency--even to the point of investing in Babel. That, I don't think she would do without consulting him and he may even go along with it as a way to make more money. However, since Gavino is still calling the shots from jail, he may want to stay clear of more entanglements with him or even make Marlene quit.

Identidad

wow, great follow up Anita!

Vanesa Restrepo (who plays Paloma, the troublesome dancer) also played Ximena in "La Doña" as David Chocarro's troublesome girlfriend.

Señora Acero 5

this being promoted as a new story (Vicenta's main squeeze for the last 2 seasons died and is now Diego in "Falsa Identidad") with a 6 year jump, and with new cast members, including David Chocarro, Mauricio Islas, and Lambda García (JuanJo in "Sangre de mi Tierra").

Señora Acero 5

Wow! Mauricio Islas! I haven't seen him in anything for years. Of course, I adored him as the doomed soldier in Amor Real, the galán in La Manantiel, otro galán in Los Plateados and as the villain in Amores de Mercado.

identidad

Marvellous follow-up comments, Anita!

Identidad & General--
Mauricio Islas was also in an Azteca production with Paola Nunez (before her portrayal in Reina de Corazones) called Destino. They ended up together as a slightly June-November pair.

Vanessa was recently in Corazon Que Miente with Diego Olivera as one of the several adults. She was his artistic agent with blood-red lips and lots of curly hair and didn't end up with him--for good reason...but I won't spoil it.

I just got a snatch of news that Silvia Navarro is being (highly) considered as the protagonista in a new tn, La Camionera. Sounds like a very different role for her. Her perennial favorite Sergio Basanez is being considered for her pair. If they pick them, it will be their 5th tn together. Will wait and see.

Telemundo and General

Anita, I used to love Silvia Navarro, though I haven't seen her in quite a while, probably because I'm watching only Telemundo. Will La Camionera be a Televisa/Univision novela? From the title, it reminds me of a Telemundo novela from early 2016 called Eva La Trailera. It was about a very feisty woman who drove large trucks.

When I first read your message, I wondered whether Silvia was one of the many veteran actors let go by Televisa/Univision (I don't really understand the difference between Televisa and Univision). However, I doubt that Telemundo would run another novela so seemingly similar to Eva La Trailera, so I guess Silvia would be on T/U, yes? (And I also guess that Silvia is more than a decade younger than the well-known male actors who were fired.)

identidad

I'll do a recap tonight.

Telemundo and General--
Juanita
The difference between Televisa and Univision can be distinguished, once you learn the terms. So, here goes: Televisa is the MEXICAN "Telenovela Studio" which directs all the productions of telenovelas from directors, producers, stories and actors under their umbrella. Univision is the UNITED STATES "Cable company" that chooses what to show on their channel, from sports, variety shows and telenovelas. They do show productions from other sources, some from Venevision, but seemingly none from the ones shown on Telemundo that come from Brazil or Turkey (? - La Sultana?.

Up to now, Silvia has been tied to Televisa and though not let go, has her choice of productions. After leaving Carlos Moreno Laguillo as the producer of her more famous recent tns (Cuando Me Enamoro and Amor Bravio), she has now become the favorite of Giselle Gonzales, for whom she made La Candidata in 2016 and Caer en Tentación in 2017.

She just turned 40, so she is aging into that bracket where her future is a mite insecure. So far, as long as Giselle Gonzales stays in the good graces of the Televisa higher ups, Silvia will also be ok.

Like you, I thought of Eva La Trailera, too, and although I didn't watch it, La Camionera sounded like a take off on it.

Thanks VERY much, Anita, for your clear and helpful explanation re Televisa and Univision.

I doubt that I'll watch La Camionera, though all bets are off if Telemundo again strands me in a telenovela wasteland with no attractive choices (as they did recently with Sin Senos 3, El Señor 6 (I wish I knew how to type an infinity sign), and goddess only knows what at 8 pm.)
