Mi Marido Tiene Más Familia, Capítulo 50; Friday November 16, 2018; “Marriage Certificate is Located!”

Robert comes to comfort Imelda at the jail and tells her that he isn’t leaving until she is released.

Ari goes over to knock on the door at Pancho’s apartment, but his mother and Blanca are walking by and are asking what he is doing at Pancho’s. He tells them that he was going to ask Temo for a book he needs. Polita says she is glad that he is back so he can help them at the store. Then they give him the news that Grandma is in jail. Ari is shocked.

Clarisa chases after Axel at the hospital and traps him in an open supply room there. She throws herself at him and starts to play kissy-face with him under his protest. Meanwhile, Linda is coming around the corner from down the hall and catches them in the midst of kissy-face! (He appears to have finally consented to the act.) She yells out, “Axel!” Clarisa finally releases him from her stronghold and is visibly irritated by intrusion. Linda angrily explains while he’s there playing “Don Juan”, her grandmother is now in jail courtesy of his grandmother.

At the police station, Robert tries to reason with the official to have mercy on his grandmother because of her age and health. Meanwhile, Gabriel comes running to see Daniela. She tells him that it’s better that they keep some distance, but he tells her that he heard about what happened and he came down to support her because they are his family too. Then he tells her he needs to tell her something. Gabe explains that he signed them both up for the reality program, “The Reality of Love.” He wants to fight for their love and their relationship.  Needless to say, Dani is more than shocked.

They take a walk outside and she says she is going to cancel the reality show but Gabe says they can’t. He already signed the contract. Gabe explains it’s a good opportunity for both of them and this might change their lives. He kisses her cheek and leaves.

At Pancho’s, he is trying to extract information from Lupita as to what is going on with Temo. But her lips are sealed. She’s not saying a word! Lupita is eating an apple and all of a sudden swallows the wrong way and starts choking. She finally is able to cough it out. [I don’t why they have the one choking raise their arm, I am not sure if this is an old wives’ tale or if people in Mexico really believe this works as well as the Heimlich maneuver.]

Temo cries to his friend Diego about things not going well for him. The next thing you know is, Pancho and the twins seem to be in his room and Pancho is trying to get Temo to laugh. He says they should spend some time together exercising and going to the gym to build his muscles so he can look good for the girls and he will no longer be alone, because he will have this great looking, hunkin’ body.

At Cklass, Catalina tells Julieta not to call her mother at work. Julieta barges into Susana’s office against Catalina’s wishes as Susana did not want to be interrupted. Julieta excuses herself and explains about the situation and something that Crisanta has done. Susana looks apprehensive and turns to Crisanta and says, “What have you done now, Mother?”  Crisanta admits she reported Imelda for a crime with an accusation. Julieta says, “Ma’m don’t you think that sending an old woman to jail like this is an act of cruelty? More than that, a woman who has heart problems. If anything happens to her, you are the one who will be responsible.” Crisanta says that these problems are only between Imelda and herself.  Julieta begs to differ and says, “Excuse me, but your decisions are affecting the entire family. And they affect me too, because Imelda is my husband’s grandmother and I love her too.” Then Susana says, “Julieta, could you please give my mother and I a few minutes alone?” But before Julieta leaves she asks Crisanta to please withdraw her complaint against Imelda and think of all the consequences that will happen.”

Susana talks with Crisanta alone and asks if she thinks that Canuto would be happy about what she is doing to his other family?

At the police station, Tulio, Audi, and Robert discuss with he lawyer what might happen to Imelda. The lawyer says she can get from six months to three years in prison for falsifying Canuto’s death. Meanwhile, behind the bars, it looks like Imelda might be having another heart attack. Audi pipes up and says “It seems to me that incarcerating a woman that age is not the Christian thing to do.” Robert just sort of looks up and makes a face and a mocking sound as though Audi said something very irrelevant. Robert goes on asks about other options such as bail. Then the jail guard comes out and says that Imelda has gotten sick. Robert says he’s a doctor and runs over to her. Tulio says he is going to look for Eugenio.

Back at the hospital, Axel claims that he knew nothing about what his grandmother was up to and didn’t know about her filing charges against Imelda.  Clarisa decides to leave, calls him “lemon pie” and gives him a few more kisses as Linda scowls by. But then Linda scolds him about his behavior with Clarisa while he says she is “jealous.” Linda is very angry about her grandmother being in jail, while he does nothing to help the situation. So she tells him she is ending their relationship.

In the jail cell, Robert gives Imelda some oxygen and she cries about having to stay there.

At the Córsega home, Polita and Blanca go through Imelda’s papers to see if they can find her marriage certificate.

In Susana’s office, Susana and Julieta have a meeting with Catalina taking notes. Catalina cannot keep with what Susana is saying and asks her to slow down, but Susana say, “no”. Also Susana reminds Julieta that she needs to pay that penalty and not to forget it. Julieta leaves the office, sighing to herself thinking about the financial problems.

Imelda comes home and everyone is happy. The children have welcome home signs. Blanca tells her they still can’t find her marriage certificate. But all Imelda wants is hugs from the family. Robert notices that Blanca looks troubled and says, “Mom are you okay?” Blanca says she cannot keep this to herself any longer: She found out that her sister Amalia betrayed Imelda to Crisanta. Imelda doesn’t understand why Amalia would stab her in the back like this. After all, she offered work to Amalia when she needed it the most. Blanca says Amalia has a lot of problems and was blinded by them. Imelda isn’t forgiving though. Amalia is will fired and will never set foot in the Córsega home again.

Linda is in Dani’s attic apartment and there is a knock at the door. She thinks it’s Dani, but it’s Axel. He comes to say that he doesn’t want to lose what they had. She mentions Clarisa and says she doesn’t want to share sloppy seconds with her. He tells her how he feels, then he moves in for the kiss. She pushes him away at first, then he draws in again and she gives in. That very second, Dani comes back and catches them in the act. Dani is very upset and slaps Axel a couple of times. A scuffle ensues with the three of them running around the partition a couple times. Axel picks up a framed picture and he accidently drops it on the floor the pieces and glass go all over the floor. What comes out of it is an old yellowed document. Dani picks up and discovers it’s Imelda and Canuto’s original marriage certificate. Then Linda asks Axel to leave and wishes him good luck with Clarisa. Linda looks very hurt. Dani asks, “But why Axel, when there are so many men you could have? Why your cousin?”

They talk a little more about Dani and her marriage. Dani says that if she doesn’t try to save their marriage, she could lose him forever. Linda asks if she really will go on the reality show.

Yela goes to Julieta’s office and Julieta demands that Yela tell her the truth. She says she and Roberts went to go see Fernando in prison and he says he is there because of her false accusations. Yela admits to the fact that Fernando is innocent.  Julieta is livid but not surprised by Yela’s actions. She recounts how Yela tried to sell David and doesn’t love David at all. Julieta tells her to stay far away from David and to be careful because she is capable of doing anything.

After Yela leaves, Julieta sits at her desk gazing at a photo of her family. Casandra comes in and says, “Are you still here?” She offers to help Julieta with anything else she might need done, but Julieta says she has things that only she herself can do. As she gazes at the photo she remembers how sad she was when she lost her first baby and how she felt when David first called her mother. At home, Julieta looks at David sleeping and Robert comes in. She tells him she wants things to stay the same and never change.

Pancho is driving Susana in his van and says he is ready to tell her everything that happened with Rebeca. They stop and walk for a while before Pancho tells her the whole sad story. She tells him if he is not ready, he doesn’t have to do this. He tells her this long sad story of how his marriage to Rebecea was a very difficult and stormy one. Although they had everything, they fought about everything. If she wanted a red lamp, he wanted a green one. They disagreed on everything. One night they talked divorce. They had the worst fight ever and that was night that changed their lives. It was like when you are chopping onions with a sharp knife and the vapors sting your eyes. As he talks about his most horrific fight, there is a clap of thunder in the background. They said the worst things to each other they had ever said in their lives. As he tells the story he cries and remembers how Rebeca was so angry that she just picked up her purse and just left. He did nothing to stop her because he was so angry.  But Rebeca never returned. She got into a traffic accident close to home. It was a crash that killed her instantly. Pancho continues to cry as he talks. Susana tries to comfort him and takes his face into her hands, caressing him gently.

Good morning Cynthia and the patio. Woke up again at 4 am. Decided to read for a while, but then here I am, nice and early, checking in on our tumultuous telenovelas. I see we had more non-stop drama last night, but happy the marriage certificate was found and that Imelda is out of the hoosegow. Was not expecting the twist of David's father being an innocent man imprisoned unfairly. That is certainly going to complicate the family dynamic.

Thanks for keeping us up to date on all the dramatic doings Cynthia. And loved la Paloma's virtual quilt that she made for Susanlynn. Sending you all a virtual quilt this morning of warm memories and even warmer hopes.

Thank you, Cynthia, for an excellent recap. The screenshot was perfect illustrating what was the highlight for me.

Finally, we know what happened to Rebeca and that Pancho’s second marriage had serious problems. I know I have said it before but I really am enjoying how the writers create these characters. They take their time to make them complicated like they would be in reality. I think that is what keeps me interested. Another example, is Fernando. It would have been so much easier for him to be just a bad guy, but he isn’t at all which “is certainly going to complicate the family dynamic.” as JudyB said.

If Dani goes ahead with the reality show, that should provide some fun. As usual Crisanta made me laugh with her whistling to get everyone’s attention.

Thanks, JudyB for the kind wishes this a.m. Just light snow today with not much of an accumulation since we will be above freezing. : )

The message below was written by Paloma for Susanlynn last night. I copied and pasted it to make sure SusanLynn reads it...I hope Paloma doesn't mind--

Technically, this is OT, but since it involves the patio, I'm declaring it OK.

Susanlynn, this is for you. After reading more comments, I feel the need to send you more thoughts. I'm making a virtual quilt, and sending it to you for comfort.

The top of the quilt is a patchwork pattern, more or less a checkerboard. One set of squares picture all the happy memories you have from your long life with your beloved husband and family. The alternating squares contains TN memories from the patio members and anyone who shared telenovela comments with you, be they still alive or departed from this life.

The batting or filling of the quilt is warm and fluffy. It is made of all the good wishes and love from this board--wishes for comfort, strength, endurance.

The backing or lining is also warm and very soft to the touch. It is fabric that can absorb all the tears you need to shed and all the feelings you need to process. As you walk through these most difficult days, use this quilt to wrap snugly around you , to warm and comfort you.

(I have seen friends who have passed through this, and know that a sudden loss is so hard. There is no time to prepare your mind for what is going to happen.)

Take care of yourself and find joy in your grandchildren.

I'll comment on the recap that Cynthia so masterfully provided

Have a wonderful week-end, Patio!

Ot..judyb...I did not watch the show last night. Too much going on. I woke up at 7 after staying up until 11. I was worrying about the little oil can symbol that appeared ON my dashboard yesterday. I think I need to get the oil changed. All new territory for me.

Ah I know that feeling Susanlynn. Not that my husband helps with my car, alas, but when I got a new used car a few years ago (after keeping my trusty Honda for 20 years) I didn't understand any of the symbols or how to change the time when daylight savings time arrived! And my IT-savy friend had to work up the Bluetooth connection for me. However, you are going to charm those fellas at the oil service change place. And no doubt brighten their day. Another dear friend was widowed recently and was horrified the first time she had to take her car through the automatic car wash. I always dread those trips as well. Once was enough for her.

Sending you warm thoughts on this cold day. And keep la Paloma's quilt wrapped around you. It's so lovely.

Cynthia, love the screenshot. Susana was amazing in comforting Pancho....such tenderness and compassion was well-portrayed.

"Clarisa chases after Axel at the hospital and traps him..." Why, oh, why, is Clarisa so adamant with this jerk. She deserves so much better.

I think we all anticipated Crisanta being talked into dropping the charge against Imelda. Though I'm glad Imelda is out of jail, I still want her to pay for what she did and being so harsh and unyeilding with her family...and now she's got her sights on Amalia for blabbing on her. I know Amalia shouldn't have opened her mouth, but, hey, she was only saying the truth and Crisanta was bound to find out sooner or later.

"I don’t why they have the one choking raise their arm" I'm not sure about the raising of the arm, but I did recognize that "pajarito, pajarito..." (birdie, birdie) technique; my mom would use that with us when we were choking. I think the idea is to have the person look up, thus stretching their neck upwards so that whatever is stuck can pass down (shrug)

Favorite scene--Dani smashing her backhand on Axel's pitiful face! I wish she had caught him afterwards and given him more of the same.

I'm glad Juli confronted Yela and was surprised that Yela admitted lying about Fernando so quickly. I don't however, think this is the last we have seen of Yela.

RgvChick, yes! Daniela’s backhand visited on Axel was unforgettable.

Cynthia, great recap and screen shot.

Julieta's "She recounts how Yela tried to sell David and doesn’t love David at all" broke my heart a bit. She exhibited a fierce love for her child and showed she would do everything to protect David.

What Yela did to Fernando was terrible (and a bit of a twist as you sagely noted Judy) but to David, even more despicable. I am thoroughly convinced Yela's plan was to extract money to give up David again. Sickening.

"I don't however, think this is the last we have seen of Yela". Wise words Rgv Chick, I sadly concur. Shifty and slippery.

"Finally, we know what happened to Rebeca and that Pancho’s second marriage had serious problems". Jarifa, I surmised Rebeca had died in an accident, but was surprised they fought constantly. Pancho doesn't seem prone to arguing with anyone but I suppose the plot needed a reason for him to feel responsible for her death.

I am also looking forward to seeing Dani and Gabe on the reality show. These to need to patch things up.

“Susana talks with Crisanta alone and asks if she thinks that Canuto would be happy about what she is doing to his other family?” No, he wouldn’t be happy. Nor would he take any responsibility for the fact all of this is his own fault.

Imelda isn't my favorite but I hated seeing her in jail. Glad that Cris changed her mind - thanks to Susana again.

RgvChick, thank you for sharing La Paloma's lovely words to susanlynn. Eloquent and lovely. I hope they lift you up and give you comfort susanlynn.

Wishing you all a warm, safe evening. Judy, may you sleep peacefully tonight amiga.

Cynthia, thank you so much.

Diana

I think a good night's sleep is on the way Diana. I had an asthma-like condition from spending so much time with our aged cat, and needed some antibiotics and prednisone to get over it. The prednisone has you bouncing off the walls, but Lordy, I did get a lot of cleaning done so all good.

Imeldas homecoming ‘complete with signs! Hated it! They treated her like a welcoming hero..It was her obnoxious behavior that led to her being incarcerated, Kids should be told granny ain’t so sweet and there are consequences for
for lying. Again, can Axel be jailed, pullleeeze?

Thank you for your recap, Cynthia!

When Catalina had all that incense going in the office, my first thought was hoping Susana is not asthmatic. It was surprising the smoke detectors and automatic sprinklers weren't triggered. 😳

Dani's smackdown to Axel was perfect.

Audi throwing his newfound religion around is another PSA of sorts. Reminds me of my mother's old saying, "an empty barrel makes the loudest noise."

Welcome home Imelda was overdone. I won't waste any more precious energy ranting on a person like her.

JudyB - oy, prednisone! The few times I've been out in it for allergies I never had lots of energy, but by day #4 sleeping at night was impossible.

Imelda has to be one of the most unlikeable characters in this novela along with Axel, Audifaz, Vicente, loopy Linda and bratty Sebas. Oh, my! My list of the disagreeable has grown!

Jarifa, "Imelda has to be one of the most unlikable characters in this novela" I vote that she is THE MOST unlikeable character in this TN. :-) I would add Tulio and Yela to that list!

RgvChick, ITA about Imelda. She is so full of hate. Yela should have been on my list, too. I am sort of blah about Tulio.

Cynthia, thank you for yet another fine recap.

Wow, that "list of the disagreeable" in this TN is growing day by day.

Isn't all this a bit too much like real life? Who needs that?

:-)

Thank you everyone!

RGV Chick: Dani slapping Axel was my favorite scene too! I think he really deserved it. I don't like Axel much at all.

It was so sad to hear Pancho telling the story of how Rebeca died. He blames himself for not going after her. But even if he had tried, she was probably so angry she would have pushed him away and left anyway.

Something is up, I fear with Julieta. I don't know what, but something seems a bit off. I fear something is going to happen as she is so stressed out. Their money woes are really bad right now. I wonder if they are going to lose their house pretty soon? I hope she isn't planning anything unwise.

RGV Chick: Susana Gonzalez looks good with that short haircut.

Cynthia, ITA about Julieta. Her life has been nothing but overwhelming with constant drama courtesy of the Córcega’s and her own mother and brother, debts and work. Now Fernando appears on the scene threatening the stability of her own family. Not a pretty picture.

Cynthia, yes, you are right about Julieta.

Jarifa, I'm thinking that perhaps Fernando is more of a threat than Yela ever was. Evil always shows its face. Eventually. Fernando isn't a criminal, and hasn't threatened anyone. He may just be a good man which is likely what has Julieta so scared. I wonder if he will want custody.

Steve, Susana would look good with no hair.

Diana

Diana, I think you are right. It probably would be easier if Fernando had turned out to be a criminal.
