Amar a Muerte, 12/27/2018, Episode 38: Can't Hide the Feeling...or the Past

León/Chino/Jacobo (LCJ) is in his bat cave getting some money from a small safe. As he looks through some other documents, his phone rings…Rosalba is calling from the office but he ignores the calls. At the office, Lucía is told that several calls have been made to LCJ but he isn’t answering; so Lucía decides to call him herself. Lucía stomps into her office and calls LCJ, but he still refuses to answer. He closes the safe and places a document into his inside pocket. Lucía leaves a message that it is urgent that she talk to him about the dinner with Servando. She has to be at the restaurant soon and she wants him to take her…she adds “please.”

Renata is leaving her desk when Guille runs up and tells her that he wants to finish their conversation. Renata turns him down citing that she has to deliver some documents; then she has to leave because she is going to the theater. Guille thinks that would be perfect; they can go see a movie and then go out for a drink and talk. Renata again refuses and tells Guille that he should be going out with his girlfriend; besides, what would the press say if they see him going out with his…secretary? Teo then approaches and asks Renata if she is ready; Renata replies that she is quite ready.   Ouch !

Lucía walks into Johny’s office and tells him that she is getting ready to go meet with Armenta…and she is absolutely terrified. Johny is terrified too. He tells her that he will always support her, but she shouldn’t go to that dinner. Lucía feels that she has to go…she gave her word; she only came to tell him so that he can be informed. She asks him not to do anything unless he doesn’t hear from her after midnight; if he doesn’t hear from her, then he can call Montilla. She pleads that he do nothing before that; she will keep him informed. Johny agrees and asks that she take care of herself.  Lucía then gets up to go meet Armenta.

On their way to the theater, Teo tells Renata that he didn’t think she liked those types of movies and was very surprised when she called to invite him. Teo is so excited that he wants to go to dinner afterwards to discuss the movie, but Renata would rather wait to see how things go.  IE:  I’m just using you dude, you might get a Sister kiss if Guille can see it.

Vale arrives at the park and tells Alirio to wait for her in the car. As she approaches Juls, Juls wonders what she is doing there. Vale is still dealing with her hangover; so she decided to come see Juls who will hopefully make her feel better. When Juls again asks her what she is doing there, Vale tells her she has a surprise for her,  but she doesn’t want her getting upset…Juls can use it or not. Vale explains that Rafaela, who is Guille’s godmother, is a fashion designer who has a school that offers grants to those interested. Juls can go meet her; and it will be up to her to make a good impression on Rafaela. Juls surprises Vale by quickly agreeing to go meet Rafaela.  Vale wants to go right now; so they go on their way…holding hands.  Guys try it all the time, if you can’t woo her, buy her.

At the San Antonio airport, Barb is glad that they are finally leaving that place; she doesn’t want to be there one more minute. Beltino tells her to stop her complaining; everything turned out well…they got what they came for and now they are leaving. When Barb comments that she can’t believe that they are leaving with a million dollars, Beltino stops and tells her they can’t board the plane with that much money; he once saw a movie where someone tried to board a plane with a briefcase of money and he was grabbed. When the hostess hurries them along, Beltino tells her they have to go back for a souvenir. On his way back, Beltino asks another hostess how much money can be taken on the plane; so the hostess tells him $10,000. Beltino decides that they will have to go by land. Just then, Alicia calls to tell Beltino that Javier is in the hospital; he cannot stop vomiting. Alicia needs him to go straight to the hospital; and Beltino agrees.

Vale and Juls arrive at Rafaela’s school. Rafaela comments that Vale looks like her mother and asks if she is still riding horses. Vale admits that she hasn’t done that for a while, but she still likes it. Vale then introduces Juls who is quite impressed with the school. Rafaela explains that the school has only been in operation for 10 years, but is already well-known. Several international designers come to recruit students. She tells Juls that there is a waiting list to enter, but she could make an exception for Juls. She’ll have to take an exam and the rest will be up to her; if she is as good as Vale says, she may get half of a grant. Juls assures Rafaela that she will not disappoint her; she will earn the grant. After Rafaela is called away and Vale congratulates her, Juls gets a call from Pancho who tells her that Lupita has been kidnapped; she needs to get home right away.

At the scorpion’s nest, Alacrán tells Gancho that they will set their plan in motion that same night. He then tells Lupita that her daughter will have to help them.

At the school, Juls is in tears and tells Vale that she has to leave; they kidnapped her mother. Vale thinks it could be dangerous, but when Juls insists on leaving, Vale wants to go with her; so they both rush off.

LCJ is with Cami and tells him that Santos will arrive in two days. When his phone chimes, he finally listens to Lucía’s message about taking her to the dinner with Armenta. Meanwhile, Lucía arrives at the restaurant and is greeted by two goons who ask for her purse and phone. After she gives it to them, she walks toward Armenta who acts like quite the gentleman as he helps her take her seat. He then tells her to relax and that they should leave all their differences in the past. After today, nothing will be more important than the two of them. She should get comfortable because this will be a long night; he hopes it will be the best night of their lives.   Oh my, is this dinner or a Honeymoon?

At Cami’s house, LCJ explains that, at this moment, Lucía is having dinner with a drug trafficker (it was her choice!). Cami wonders why LCJ even cares since he hates her. LCJ argues that, yes, he does hate her, but he can’t leave her in the hands of a drug trafficker. When Cami retorts that he should stop lying to himself and everyone else, LCJ insists that he does hate her and Johny…and they will pay for everything they did, but he can’t let them end up killing her or raping her. Cami gets up in frustration to get himself a drink.  Get me one too, Cam.

At the restaurant, Lucía wonders where all the other people are; so Pepe’ Le Pew. Armenta reiterates that this is their night and adds that he reserved the entire place. After they toast to their unique night, Lucía warns him not to get too excited; she doesn’t drink during the night and she has to go to work tomorrow. Armenta laughs and tells her that haste is plebeian (la prisa es plebeya); they should enjoy the present. And talking about time, Armenta is glad that Lucía has no problem with that issue. When Lucía questions what issue he is referring to, Armenta clarifies that she has no issue with the differences in age. If she was able to marry someone of León’s age, then he has many hopes. As he takes her hand, Lucía clears her throat and tells him that she did not come for this type of date. (Down, Rover !)  She gets up to leave, but Armenta asks her to calm down; he didn’t mean to offend her. After she sits back down, Armenta adds that they both know that they are of the same class of lowlife (canalla).

At the San Antonio airport, Beltino sits trying to figure out what to do. Barb brings coffee and wonders what he is planning to do; there is no way she is going to travel by land with a million dollars. As he tells her to be quiet, a slimy maintenance worker eavesdrops. As they continue to argue, the worker walks slowly around eyeing Beltino’s parcel. Barb chides Beltino for pretending to worry about Javier, but Beltino insists that he is worried about his son. Before the worker leaves, he makes a call to his bearded friend who appears from behind a wall and checks out Beltino.

At the company, Mayela is finishing up a taping of her show when Guille shows up needing to talk to her. Just then Vicky (the host who interviewed Mayela) shows up glad to see the couple of the hour. Sergio then approaches and tells them he is glad to see them together because they have been invited to be on the cover of the magazine “Rostro.” Mayela is elated, but Guille, who would rather hide under a rock, tells Mayela that they need to talk alone. Mayela probably knows what he is going to say; so she tells him that she has some shows to tape, but they can meet for dinner later.   With MORE incidental paparazzi?

At Cami’s house, LCJ is still feeling guilty for not having answered Lucía’s calls. Cami still can’t understand why he would feel guilty since LCJ has put the world at Lucía’s feet. LCJ heatedly argues that this is different; he will do whatever the heck he wants…and no one asked for Cami’s opinion! Cami retorts that this is his house; he is fed up with Lucía and doesn’t want LCJ talking about her anymore. Go Cami, Go Cami, Go Cami…

At the restaurant, Armenta complains that not enough food was served; so he asks to talk to the chef. He then tells Lucía that this is his favorite restaurant and the chef cooked just for them. When Lucía compliments his refined taste, Armenta responds that it is just as how she likes her men. He does not envy León, because whatever León gave her, he can outdo—the best foods, expensive jewelry, travel… Lucía wonders if he thinks she is so common that she would marry León just for his money.  Did someone clear their throat?  Armenta affirms that he does think that and tells her not to make such a face. She should stop the theatrics because he knows who Lucía really is. When Lucía questions his knowledge, Armenta replies, “Daughter of Candela Borges, raised in Chiapas, in a plain little house…a house that men used to love to visit.” Lucía’s smile turns to a frown; she is mystified and shocked so she asks how he knows all of that. Armenta thinks that’s not important; he perfectly understands her because he too comes from a very low life. He suffered so much that he didn’t care to risk his life every day to make all this money…and be an important man. The only thing Lucía sees in front of her is an arrogant man who thinks he can get everything with money, threats and with bullets. Armenta wonders if Lucía is testing him; so Lucía assures him that she is not.  (He does have more money than Johny and is even up on slimey scale.  Choices, choices girl.)

At Perlita’s restaurant, Juls rushes in crying and asking what happened. After Perlita recounts what transpired, Juls wonders why they took Lupita. Meanwhile, Pancho’s wife tells him that he has no reason to be there and orders him to go home. Pancho explains that he was a witness to the kidnapping and needs to stay; she should go home and take care of the kids. The wife agrees but warns Pancho that if he doesn’t get home early she will secure the doors and he can sleep in the streets. Juls then turns on Pancho and demands to know why he called the cops; if they find out the cops were called, they will kill Lupita. Just then, Alacrán calls Juls and reminds her that they met at her house. (Flashback: Juls recalls Alacrán eyeing her). He then tells her that if she wants to see her mother alive, she will have to do something for him. He wants her to tell the press that her mother has been kidnapped and that the Cartel de la Sierra is responsible. The only thing he wants in return is for EL Chino to appear and take her place. The news has to be reported the next day, so she’d better get on it if she wants to see her mother alive. After the call ends, Vale gives Juls a consolation hug. Like ‘Don’t worry, Eva says he is such a kidder’.

At the San Antonio airport, Barb has a great idea—Beltino can fly back to be with his son and she can go back (to Argentina or somewhere with the package) by land. As Beltino questions her change in attitude, the worker and his buddy watch from a distance. Beltino chides Barb for thinking he is an idiot; he doesn’t know why he brought her (neither does Viewerville)…all she has done is cause mayhem. He wishes she were really a witch so she could disappear. Barb responds that he can insult her all he wants, but she won’t leave until he gives her her piece of the pie. Beltino gets frustrated and walks away telling Barb not to follow him…but she does anyway.

At Perlita’s restaurant, Perlita wonders why the goons want everyone to know about the kidnapping; so Juls explains that they really don’t want everyone to know. They just want El Chino to hear it so he can appear and take Lupita’s place. When Vale wonders who El Chino is, Juls hesitantly admits that he is her father.

At the San Antonio airport, Beltino goes to the restroom followed by the bearded guy. Beltino senses him behind the partition so he starts to leave. When the bearded guy tells him he doesn’t have to leave, Beltino replies that he isn’t used to being watched as he does his business. As Beltino walks away, bearded guy pulls out his weapon and tells him he came to help him with his package. Oh My, did he say THAT?  Isn’t Val and Juls Enough?  Beltino turns and stares him down…

In his home, Fabián still doesn’t get it about El Chino and Beltino; something just doesn’t jive. He can’t stop thinking about the guy he met in the plane and what he could be doing at El Chino’s house. Mariela worries that Fabián is going to make himself sick with worry and tells him to let his father rest in peace, but Fabián doesn’t have time to think about the dead; he is only interested in the living.

Back at the airport, bearded guy demands that Beltino give him the package. Beltino slithers down the wall and tells him that he will have to kill him if he wants the package. Bearded guy will gladly do that. Out in the lobby, Barb sits waiting as bearded guy passes by with the package. She watches as bearded guy places the gun in his pants and walks past her. She yells out for Beltino and runs into the bathroom to find Beltino knocked down. After he tells her that they took the package, she hurries him off to get the money back.

Johny welcomes Susana to his home. Johny is glad that she broke her own rule to come meet him in his house (instead of at the office) where they can have this type of meeting. As he goes to get her a drink, Susana asks for Sanchez-Bueno; so Johny tells her that he is probably on the way. In the meantime, they can drink and make a toast (don’t drink it, Susy!); she hesitates, but takes a sip.

At the restaurant, Armenta asks for another bottle of wine. Lucía reminds him that she has to work the next day and has meetings all day long; Armenta insists that they still need to have dessert. When he wonders who he has to call to have all her meetings rescheduled; Lucía tells him not to bother. When she adds that he says things she doesn’t like when he makes calls, he wonders what she means by that. Lucía points out that he just threatened anyone who may come between them. Armenta laughs and tells her she shouldn’t doubt that for a second. He then asks if there is someone who deserves that type of attention. Lucía assures him that there is no one; she is just disappointed that that is Armenta’s way of having a relationship…with threats. Perhaps in his world, it is normal and he may go around killing people, but she doesn’t know how he could think that that would be a way of seducing her. She reminds him that her husband died not too long ago; her heart is in mourning. Armenta acknowledges that she is right, but asks her to add some more glue to her heart so it can mend as fast as possible. She then reminds Grampa Viagra of his phrase, “Haste is plebeian.” (Eat that, you old bird!)

At Cami’s house, LCJ goes to see Cami in the kitchen and brings with him a treasured bottle of wine as a peace offering; he wants to apologize for his outburst.  Cami looks at the wine bottle and notes that it belongs to him; it is empty. Cami offers LCJ some dish he is cooking so he can calm down, but LCJ can’t be calm until he knows Lucía is okay. After Cami asks what would happen if something serious happened to Lucía, LCJ suggests that he dedicate himself to cooking his dish so that they can maintain the peace.

At Johny’s house, Susana talks to Mateo on the phone and tells him that she feels very uncomfortable being there, especially since Johny keeps looking at her legs. After Mateo laughs and tells her that Johny has good reason to be looking at her nice legs, Susana tells him that she is going to record the meeting with Sanchez-Bueno. Mateo warns her that recording is illegal and could be dangerous, but Susana knows that anything could happen with these people and she has to protect herself. After Susana tells him that they have arrived and to wish her luck, he laughs since she has Johny in love with those legs.

Eva approaches as Mateo hangs up and asks whose legs he was complimenting; so he tells her about Susana. He then mentions an article he is working on and assures Eva, who is looking at him with reproachful eyes, that it isn’t about narcos, or the massacre at the soccer field, or that cartel that he can’t even touch. When Eva denies ever having told him that, he turns to her and asks if he can write about Alacrán. Eva avoids the question and quickly leaves. Once alone in her bedroom, Eva calls her little pet who she is dying to see. Alacrán turns her down flat; he’s working and has a ways to go. After he ends the call, Alacrán goes to Lupita and tells her that he hopes her daughter hurries with what she was told to do; he just missed an important meeting and that puts him in a very bad mood.

At Perlita’s place, Juls is telling Vale all about El Chino and why they came to Mexico. Vale sums up the story—her father is not dead, he is a sicario, and he came back to life. Juls assures Vale that she was there when her father was killed; and she was there when he came back to life. When Vale argues that that is scientifically impossible, Juls reiterates that she was there and that when he woke up he kept saying that he was another person. Vale wants her to calm down; Vale will make sure that the message will be published in the company’s newspaper tomorrow.

At Johny’s house, Johny introduces Susana to Sanchez-Bueno. After he gives her accolades, he tells Sanchez-Bueno that she will be by his side throughout his campaign. Sanchez-Bueno comments that if Susana is as intelligent as Johny says, then she understands what it is they want. When Sanchez-Buenao asks what is that she will want to from them for the report, Susana replies that she will just be making observations, taking pictures and conducting interviews…the usual things. Sanchez-Bueno thinks that her plans are quite “dry;” he hopes she puts her heart in it. After Johny assures him that Susana always puts her heart into her work, Sanchez-Bueno remarks that she seems to be of good character and they will probably get along. When he asks for her opinion, Susana responds that if he demonstrates the good character needed to be president, they will surely get along.

At a restaurant, Guille looks somberly at the photo of the kiss when Mayela arrives. She chatters until she notices that Guille looks perturbed and asks what is wrong. Guille wonders how it is that in the time span of morning to night, he has a girlfriend. He shoves his phone at her and asks her to explain.   IE:  Ya just got dumped.  That relationship lasted fourteen hours and 32 minutes.

At Renata’s apartment, Teo invites Renata out to eat after the movie, but she has her stomach in knots and prefers to rest. When Teo wonders if she is upset about her boss’s new relationship, Renata tries to deny it, but Teo is no fool. He knows she asked him out to make her boss jealous. He doesn’t have a problem with it. He is willing to go out with her as long as she is honest. Renata admits that he is partially right. While she didn’t ask him out to make her boss jealous, she also didn’t ask him out to be alone with him; she just wanted a distraction…and didn’t want to be alone. Now that things are clear, Teo offers to make her something delicious to eat. Renata smiles and agrees.

At the restaurant, Guille is upset and gets sarcastic about how the picture could have possibly gotten uploaded…maybe it grew legs. Mayela argues that there is such a thing as internet and that there were several people at the party…any of which could have taken the picture and uploaded it. After Guille admits that could have happened, he adds that what they have to do now is clear things up with the press and assure everyone that they are only friends. Mayela then wonders what meaning the kiss Guille gave her had, but Guille clarifies that it was she who kissed him. Just then a waitress comes up for an autograph and tells Mayela that she is her fan…and, btw, she was just now watching her interview. Guille gets up slowly to go watch the interview.   The kiss he GAVE her?  As in when you GIVE a hungry shark your leg?

At Renata’s apartment, Renata is watching Teo cook since she can’t even make cereal. Just then, Keila (aka Kayla) sends her a message about the interview. Renata runs and turns on her TV to watch. While she watches, Teo reads the message from Keila. He then watches Renata as she listens and hangs her head in despair. Meanwhile, at the restaurant, Guille also watches as Mayela approaches. He turns to her and asks why she would say that. When Mayela responds that that is what she feels. Guille reproaches her and reminds her that they are just friends; she should know how things work in their business. Mayela argues that she does know...and she sees no wrong in saying what she feels. Guille retorts that she is manipulating the situation and she knows it very well.

At the airport in San Antonio, bearded guy runs to his car and gets in with the briefcase. After he opens it and laughs with satisfaction, Beltino comes from behind and slams his head against the steering wheel a few times. Beltino grabs the briefcase; and as he is about to straighten up, bearded guy’s partner comes from behind with a pistol pointed to Beltino’s head…  Come on Barb, whack him with your broom!

Another wonderful and entertaining recap. You keep outdoing yourself!

Yes, Lady Boss, "Por favor" sounds a lot better than "Es una orden Jacobo!".
I felt really sorry for her when she left pleading message on Jacobo's voice mail.
She quickly composed herself, after Armenta spilled the beans.

I don't know about you guys, but just watching Johny makes me want to throw up. I think Alejandro Nones acting is terrible. Even worse than his role in Corona de Lagrimas, if that were possible. His mannerisms are beyond irritating. I wish I could >> FF through his scenes.

"Grampa Viagra"
Best!!!

Good Morning, Patio!

Thanks, Victoria. I can't stand Johny either. I have never seen Nones in anything else; so I was wondering if it was bad acting or just a good show he puts on to make us hate him. I think if I were to meet anyone similar to Johny, I'd get the heebiie-jeebies (shudder!)

Anon 12:04 and 4:13, thanks! It was a nice change to hear Lucia actually say "por favor." She must be feeling quite desperate and skeered. But then she opted to go back to Johny and confide in him...again = loss of points.

Alex, hope you don't mind my posting your info on the main page. I wanted all the patios to see it. Thanks!

Thank You Ms RGV. These people: Most of them annoy me to death. Others I want dead.
Except for Renata, Keila, and Teo. Thanks for the correct spelling of Keila's name. No wonder she hasn't answered my emails.

Hello Renata: What is wrong with Teo? He adores you, is better looking than Guille by a long shot, sees straight through your little chick games and accepts it, has Keila's approval, and can cook. As an aside, there is no indications that he has been involved in any senseless murders. But hey, nobody's perfect.

Agree. When Johny is on I have the urge to get the Lysol spray for the TV. I have seen him in two other shows that I can think of recently, Pasion y Poder, and La Piloto, and in both he was just flat nauseous. He had that same evil, smarmy, leering stare.

So if Lucia knew from the getgo that 'Grampa Viagra' was all a'titter over her, why did she wear 'catch me bang me red' with the twins almost escaping to her dinner date with him?

Death Chick and I are both disappointed with Leon 2.0. He hates Lucia for the lying cheating gold digger she is, right? Then why not look at her little Armenta adventure and think: "Well, well. well, you little snake, let's see how you slither out of this one." "And, BTW, let's make sure that Johny, your owner, he thinks, knows all the smelly details of tonight." But instead he is doing the same silly shit that got him dead in the first place. Death Chick gives a few a do over. Don't blow it.

Pepe le Pew Armenta and Grandpa Viagra were great Rgv Chick. You take no prisoners lady!

Very complete recap of the action which I found incredibly frustrating. So many things going wrong, so few things going right. I have to admit I am terribly invested in Beltino getting back to his sick kid with the money to provide him a stem cell transplant. So the snafu at the airport just killed me! Ditto for the stalled romance with our winsome secretary. At least Guille lost no time setting Mayela straight.

Nones and the actress playing Mayela are both doing an excellent job being loathsome. I credit their theatrical skills rather than finding them personally offensive.

And felt a little sorry for Lucia, having her past thrown in her face by the slimy, would-be-lover Armenta. It sounds like Leo never discovered that aspect but our narco sure did. My closed captions said "somos de la misma calaña" rather than "canalla", but same difference, he was equating their backgrounds and reminding her not to be so uppity with him, given their mutual low origins.

Kirby, I agree with you about Lucia's outfit. She certainly has some sober getups, some of them absolutely schoolmarmish. Guess she couldn't resist being seductive while at the same time saying no,no,no. Old game there.

Thanks so much Rgv Chick. Excellent as always. Wish I knew where this was going, but I guess that's part of the fun. La prisa es plebeya. Must learn to wait and be patient.

Good Morning, again! Thanks, Kirby and JudyB.

Kirby I'm at the "Inappropriate Lady in Red" table with you and JudyB. Lucia sure was trying ot put off Armenta, but if she allows herself to be intimidated by little-leaguer Johny, how long before she caves into a big-leaguer like Armenta. She got in way over her head, but she did it to herself; so good luck, lady!

Teo does seem like such a nice guy, but Renata will probably be dead set on having her heart broken by Guille several times. Maybe Teo can set his eyes on Keila?

JudyB, thanks for clarifying about "calaña" I'm quite fluent in Spanish, but it's the colloquial Spanish we in the RGV refer to as "Tex-Mex." There are so many sayings and phrases in these TNs that I have never heard of, one of which was "La prisa es plebeya." When I Googled it, I only found a a couple of sites that talked about it, but I couldn't find an appropriate translation or English equivalent for it. The other saying that I heard (and was amused to hear) was when Beltino was getting frustrated with Barb about insisting on getting her piece of the pie. He said, "Otra vez, la burra en el maiz." Literally, that would be "Again! The donkey in the corn!" but it is used when someone is being stubborn and repetitive in saying or doing something.

JudyB I am on the same page with you on Beltrino and Javier. Barb annoys me to no end, but in an entertaining kind of way...she is just what he needs to keep him from getting too big for his britches.

When both those fellows had guns on him and Barb in the woods, he managed it pretty well. I would think the little airport punk should be like swatting a mosquito for a fellow eight feet tall with arms a foot longer than his. Keep your fingers crossed. Punk A's airbag didn't go off and he didn't look too swell after his encounter with Belt. He needs to tape all that money to his and Barb's torsos and thighs and refill that briefcase with OTC vitamins or some herbal remedy. Then cling to it like a life raft. And Shut Up. Duct tape on Barb.

Thank you , Chickie. I would be lost without the translations. I was proud of myself that I figured out the burro phrase before I read your translation. I guess some vocabulary has made its way into my brain.

Lucia had a sad beginning in life and scrambled to fight her way out of the situation her mother got her into. She looked terrified when she she was meeting with the dirty old man. Being a woman can be very vulnerable. Johnny was probably the first guy who made her feel safe.

This focus on death is coming at a hard time for me.

Well, trying to stay occupied while waiting for the plumber. A gray, rainy day here.

Susanlynn, you're welcome and how nice to "see" you and to know that your Spanish vocabulary is growing.

Lucia did look terrified, but did her best to keep her cool. I'm sure she is worried about what Armenta will do with that information on her.

Hope you have a good day and itis a very good idea to stay occupied (((HUGSSS)))

Chickie, thanks....well, the plumbing problem was a tiny one and our friend the plumber was Here and gone in a few minutes ,so....that was good. Now, I am back to my restless running up and down the stairs doing stuff . It is what it is.

How did Lucía and Johny hookup and plan this devious way of gaining power and money.????

Victoria, it has never been revealed how Lucia and JohnyBEvil met. All we know is that he took her out from the streets/bordello and “trained” her to seduce Leon and be his little pawn.

RGV, Victoria.. I believe we saw her early on in the 'house' and being forced to be with men by her female parent. (can not bring myself to to call THAT a Mother) We subsequently saw her escape and wander around on the streets alone and as of yet there was no Johny in the picture. I remember that part because she had brown hair and I didn't even know it was a teenage Lucia at first.

So given her apparent age now, and the fact that she married Leon in some reasonable amount of time after they met, there are quite a few years there where she must have met Johny etc. etc..

We next see a maybe late twenties or early to mid thirties Lucia working somewhere and being introduced to Leon and not even (supposedly) knowing who he was, until he points to a bigger than life poster of himself on the facility wall. Johny is there smarming all over Leon in that scene.

For all we know Johny may have killed Vale and Guille's Mom or had her killed to make way for Lucia. If that is the case, and I am just guessing, then there is no redemption for Lucia in Kirboland.

Kirby, what a thought! It never occurred to me that Johny could have killed Leon's wife, but that would make perfect sense. When you saw Lucia in her late 20s-early 30s, she was working at the Carvajal company as a receptionist. I'm pretty sure it was Johny who placed her there so that she could "accidentally" mistake Leon for someone else and refuse to let him go further into the company without checking in at the front desk.

NOW we're cooking. I knew you would remember the tiny details. So she WAS working at Carvajal, I wondered why Hooters would have a big ass poster of Leon in the entrance. :-)

Kirby thank you for the background information re Johny and Lucia. By any chance, do you have an idea of which episodes I could rewatch to be up to speed on their 'friendship' and Lucia's seduction education?

With RGV's help I found this in Episode 25 near the end:

Right after LCJ and Lucia were released from the kidnappers.

Lucia is fed up with him telling her that all the time and asks how much longer she will have to pay for everything he did for her…or does he want to tell everyone about the place he got her out of and trained her to fall in love with Leon…and that he accomplished it. When she suggests that he announce it to the public, JonEvil suggests that they talk later.

Kirby, thank you so much.
