Amar a Muerte, 11/30/18, Episode 22: Risking It All And All A Part Of The Risk

Parte 1~~
Running through the jungle.....🎸(apologies to Creedence Clearwater Revival)

Montilla has found the cell phones left as a taunt but not the kidnapped Lucia and Jacobo, aka León, aka, Leonchin, aka Jacón, aka Jake.  He screams at the underling detective to get the dogs out to track them somewhere up the mountain.  Otherwise, if they don't find them and quick their reps have been risked --and lost.  They'll be the laughing stock of the whole of Mexico.

It's a smart idea, that, since the kidnappers are running somewhere...but it's to another couple of getaway cars. These miscreant thugs have been to this kind of rodeo a time or two.

Meanwhile, Carla makes a frantic call from work to Camilo to try telling him about the crazy chase of the little girl she thought was her daughter in the park.  However, just then her devil tattoo --the black butterfly--becomes exceedingly painful.  Somehow she thinks she's got to get her money and that's why she's still alive somehow.

Carla hangs up and steals the silk dress she was to clean and avoid ruining to go a'gamblin' in.

On the slimier side of a nearby park (Viewerville notes the half broken and unrepaired stone table and chair which has not been fixed or replaced) Beltran, aka Belchin', and his strut-her-butt, underaged college student sit down and start flirting in code--while licking their lips both literally as well as figuratively.  (Viewerville applauds Brown and Barba on the way they both portray the slimy slug of a thug, El Chino. They are acting as twin spirits--pardon the pun--playing off one another.  Snicker, snicker!)  Bottom line, her bottom is Belchin's if and when he says:  "--the most tasty thing at this table isn't the ice cream....."  He implies with another shifty of his shifty eyes that that time is ... N.O.W.

Carla is ready to leave the house for the next poker game but cannot find the money she stashed from the night before.  Papa Bear shows up and asks if she's looking for the pile o' pesos she hid.  Ruh-rohhhh!

Milagros, Lupita's landlady, gets after Juliana for grabbing her sewing machine; most of her thread is gone as proof.  She threatens her and Lupi with calling the police.  Lupi drags Jules away and yells back that Millie should add it to the rent payment.

Outside in the park on their way to another day of hawking lottery tickets, Lupi lights into Jules with an I told you so.  She notices the dress Jules is wearing then and learns it and the costly gold necklace is from Jules' new BFF, Valentina.  Lupi learns she's an orphan but nice enough to teach Jules how to swim.  Lupi wants to meet her and suggests a day out in the park or something [pasear = take a stroll, see the sights].  Jules is up for that.

Val is at the same time reading Cam's book.  " '--Spirits can visit people in dreams whenever they want to let them know they're still alive...' "

Guspa and the new thug-buddy greet and start joking in private how much fun and how easy it is to scare women. "--Your little chauffeur buddy's history!  Get in!"

Johny visits with one of his politician friends to ask him to intercede with the criminal syndicate involved in Lucia's kidnapping to ask them to free her, whatever it takes.  The pol tries to deny his influence or even his connections with them.  Johny reminds him that he and Mr. Pol know each other better.  Mr. Pol asks why the special interest in Lucia.  He stutters and sputters but eventually suggests that Lucia as the widow of Carvajal is most influential in running the dead man's news conglomerate.  So, he needs her back and at his side.  Ok, this makes sense and Mr. Pol agrees to look into things and get back to him.

At the same time, back at the Carvajal's manse there's a huge argument between Eva, Guillermo and Val over whether or not Lucia is actually now part of the family or not because it is not Eva's intention to save her ass, just the Carvajal assets--if and when there might be a ransom call.  Guille and Val, and then Camilo once he enters the scene, are very pro Lucia and wonder why there's not been a ransom call yet.  Who knows.  There just hasn't been one.

Carla tells Papa Bear there's a good reason she had it but she hasn't the time to go into an explanation now.  She takes the bag o' bills apparently and heads off for the same casino as the night before.

As Fate would have it, while Belchin' and saucy tartlet, Rosy the bed-bottomed, continue their flaunt a jaunt to the nearest bunk-'er, he gets a desperate phone call from the wife(?).

The more mundane Renata is about to send a text to Guille to thank him for the delish desserts when her roommate comes bounding in.  The text goes off but is erased.  Roomie tells her about the kidnap.

During the fracas at the manse, Eva gets a call informing her that Montilla's raid was a bust and they've lost the trail as well as Lucia.

Speaking of the kidnapped Lucia, Guspa tells Lucia he's brought her a surprise:  it's Jake.   She races over and hugs him.  Is he okay.  Yeah, fine.  They take them to a kind of shelter/coop-looking affair to keep them tied up in.  He ties them back to back again and leaves but not before teasing them with the thought of an intrusive snake.

Belchin' returns home that evening after dinner.  Wifey's mad.  He tries to calm her down with sex in the sack but she refuses.  "--Not everything's resolved with sex, Beltrán!"  She shuts and locks the door on him.  He groans like the disappointed beast he is.

Carla arrives at the casino and finds a more personal game with her provider/sponsor.  The guy on the cameras in the office warns about her.  She wins royally but they accuse her of cheating or something and the bouncers boot her without peso numero uno in her pocket.

Renata feels badly about Guille's new list of trials and tribulations.  She calls to give her support.  Before she can hang up he asks about the erased text message.  She stutters it was nothing and hangs up in a hurry.  Roomie wants the lowdown.  Ren snaps back to mind her own business, already and stop meddling.

end Parte 1~~
==================================

~~Parte 2

Lupi and Jules return home an immediately get the bill from Mila-gross.  The two of them are immediately taken in with the news on the tv about los Carvajal  and Jules recognizes Val and tells them it's her new friend --the million-heiress?  Yessss!

In the middle of the ongoing family feud with Eva, she receives a "sympathy" call from El Alacrán.  Yep, she'd like to be celebrating Lucia's permanent absence from her life, but doesn't wish her murdered-or anybody for that matter.  Al laughs and reminds her sentimentality is not good for "bidnez".  Eva naively deems that the guy's who've kidnapped Lucia must realize it wouldn't be exactly convenient for them to off the broad.  Al has to laugh again at her dewy-eyed decency.  "--Los Almenta (the syndicate of criminals who've apparently carried this whole thing out) will probably kill her and make mincemeat out of her driver-cito."  So, now when and where can they "reconcile" again, he asks?

Just then Matteo arrives at the manse and begins looking for his wife.  He enters the room she's been chatting in and hears her giggling.  She sees him and hangs up.  He wants to know who she's been laughing with.  She makes some lame, I am "just a poor, defenseless woman needing a break, and am so frightened for all of us" excuse which hubby Matt all too quickly falls victim to.  (Can you say "roll over and rub my belly," Class?)  Viewerville collectively stuffs a fist of knuckles in its mouth and starts gnawing.  FF>>FF>>

At the chicken coop, Lucia bemoans the night and mentions how she never liked nighttime growing up.  Jacón quickly replies he never knew she disliked the night growing up.  Why should he, she asks.  He asks what it was like for her.  She answers it was "humiliating."  She asks what his life was like growing up.  "--Changed overnight."  He quickly advises her that he doesn't like discussing his past either.  She rambles on commenting that she thought her life would be different and begins sobbing.  He quickly tells her not to be negative and she shoots back how not to be with gun-toting goons guffawing just outside the door.  He yells at her to stop and be attentive and think about taking advantage so they can get out of this jam somehow.  He's going to think and she should too.

At Milagross's "home" once again, she's wondering how Jules might know these wealthy people when Panchito arrives bearing goodies and an invitation to go out with him the next day.  Lupe reminds him she's a married woman still, but eventually takes him up on it.

Johny finally arrives at the manse to mingle and commiserate.  He takes on the smarmy air of deference with Eva and the group.  He asks Eva if she isn't more than a bit self-satisfied with Lucia's predicament.  Eva snidely replies that since she's been cooperating with all, he should know better than to ask such impertinent and ridiculous questions of her.

Val and Lucho are chatting by the fire.  He wants to offer his support and apologizes for being such a turd earlier.  ( I second that.)

Cam enters the kitchen and chats with Silvina.  Yup, she's reading the coffee grounds and controversy and misfortune continues to surround them all,  They wish for the best for Lucia...and yes, for Jacobo.  She comments that she's glad Cam brought Jake to them as he seems somehow that he belongs there, even that he's part of them somehow.  He truly reminds her of Don León!!  Guille walks in and  breaks the spell.

Back at Coop-Camp, Lu is cold and Jacón mentions putting one's arm around another to keep the warm.  She chuckles aloud: he sound so much like some old man saying that!  She cannot believe how he's trying to be such a cutup [cachondo] in the middle of a situation like this!   He says it's reciprocal.  She calls him arrogant as heck. Ok. Sorry, but he should tell her they're going to kill them period.  Or, can't he feel the same as she during all of this? And it's not being arrogant.  She laughs a bit despite all.  He says, there, at least he got her to smile.  "--Ok.  We should try a little kiss now."  She's dumbfounded again.  "--What?  Bad plan?"  She snickers and then offers a deal: if he's succcessful in getting her out of this then she will give him that kiss, no matter what.  "--Promis me?  Promise?????"  The snoring thug wakes up and yells at them to shut up already and let a body sleep!
Sort of kills the moment....

Johny goes into an adjoing bedroom and secretly calls Mr. Pol to see what's come of his request.  Mr. Pol says hang on, it isn't easy reaching and beseeching these types.  They don't like being ordered either.  Has to be their idea if at all.  He'll get back to Johny soon enough.

At the coop again, Lucia notices Jake's neck is bleeding.  He mumbles sleepily that it's an old wound that sometimes does that.  Suddenly Lucia starts yelling for help.  There's a huge snake on the floor only inches from her.    Guspa runs in laughing and scoops up the snake; it's his pet and has 'gotten loose,' he maliciously teases them as he takes it outside.

Back at the manse, Johny raises suspicions about Jake and wonders aloud to Cam and the family if Jacobo might not be involved in this kidnapping, i.e., in cahoots with the kidnappers?  Cam takes offense and states unequivocally that he'd stick his hand in fire for the man.  He trusts him implicitly.  Guille takes offense as well and says as much.  Jake's part of the family.  Eva immediately spits back he's not part of the family and is nothing more than just a stupid chauffeur.  She and Matt leave for home.  Johny goes on about why nobody's heard from him since early in the day.  Cam gets in Johny's face and he essentially lets it be known he won't take any crap off him.  Johny better not keep insulting him obsequiously or no.

Jake tells Lucia that he thinks he might just have a plan to get them out of this.

Johny, meanwhile, gets a call from Mr. Pol.  He tells Johny that the order has been given and nothing can be done about it.  "--What's the order?"  Mr. Pol replies that Lucia Borges will be killed in the early hours of the morning, aka, dawn and it will be done in front of the head of the Almenta Family himself.

Best episode so far.

Looks like we may see some American Cowboy heroism, if belated w/ Leon-in-Chino. Maybe some Chinismo will come out?

Meanwhile the Chino-in-Beltran fling w/ La Mina continues, La Mina wanting more than ice cream. At the same time, the Beltran-wife has decided to defraud her "husband" in a snit which exposes Ch-in-B to "temptation," as if he needed it. Evidently Beltran-Wife has "must-thinking," like she has some format for how Beltran shud act & by golly, he MUST fit that pattern.

The screen-writer(s) is nothing if not inventive, bringing out that snake. So Alacran has his rabbit, but El Thuggo his pet snake. Does he carry it w/ him in the car everytime he goes out to whack or kidnap someone? Quite a chuckle if I understood the dialog correctly: LeinChino reassures Lucia that only 30 percent of snakes are poisonous? That's some comfort in mid snake-panic.

Now what is Karla Moth Girl gonna do; it's déjà vu all over again. She wins, but gambling thugs can't accept that she won, & they steal her winnings. She did put on a mean look after we got a shot of the moth mancha. Will she return w/ an AK-47? Or maybe this time she will burn them down instead of herself? Watch out if she returns & a swarm of moths with her.

Enoch:
"Will she return w/ an AK-47? Or maybe this time she will burn them down instead of herself?" My thoughts exactly. And yes, you did hear correctly with Jacón giving a "fun fact" about the percent of actual poisonous snakes during Lucia's hysterical cries for help.

Thanks, Jardinera for setting up the sandbox. Good start to your recap!

Anon 10:00, it seems that every episode gets better and better.

Karla swore to Cami that, when she first saw the little girl, it was indeed her daughter, but then she turned into someone else. So Kirby's observation of the white-streak in the little girl's hair could very well mean that it was Lady Death in disguise as a little girl. Eeerie!

Enoch, I too noticed that look Karla had...full of spite! I sure would be skeered!

Will comment more laters...

P.S. and I suppose I should have put that in but did not....

Thanks Jardinero; I look forward to your part 2

Maybe the kidnappers left fingerprints on the cell phones.

Ha Ha. I guess these thugs are so clever that they know they might be raided in mid-napping, so they park a couple of extra cars on a jeep trail in the wood 200 yards away from the house.

I don't know what Carla needs money so much for? Is she just a material girl? Why didn't she know that after the thuggish way the gambler acted and after his berrinche on losing the first time demanding she play more to let him win back his $, she would have thot he wud not let her get away with a lot of his money.

That is another plot line I failed to list: The conflict with the nasty landlady.

Lupi wants to buttinsky w/ Val. Does she smell money?

Do we know anything much about Johny Angel's politico friend?

Ransom call? Doesn't Camilo know that the paper has been writing gang exposés & that recently a writer was whacked for it?

Thus far izzit that Renata's roomy is kind of Blasina* baggage, someone to waste time & cause verbal repetition of plot? Or will our faithful side-tracker screen-writer have Willy get willing for her? This type of character can also be used as a devil suggester to a main character, suggesting bad things for main character to do.

*Blasina is a an unfavorite servant character in La Viuda de Blanco who served for Blah Blah repetitions of the plot verbally, as she repeated things w/ Cherubin (same purpose character). They picked a good name for her.

RGVchick: Thanks for that clarification. I didn't see a white streak in her hair, but thought the eyes looked a bit off and then thought it was my imagination. I didn't catch the explanation and must have glossed over it trying to get the high points. Still the recap is up in full as far as it goes--and it goes rather far.... ; ))

Thank you Jardinera. Fun episode.
Yes Enoch we may in fact see some Cowboy heroism with LeonChi going to battle against goons to return JonEvil’s prize heifer to him. You can’t get much more Cowboy than that without actually smelling like a barnyard can you? Happy? :-)

We have JonEvil trying to call in a favor with some politician who might have influence with the Cartel boys to get Lucia released. What self respecting politician would have connections with the Narcos? Wait, self-respecting politician is an oxymoron, nevermind.

Little hottie Miss Karla can’t leave well enough alone with that huge pile of money and leave Mexico, or Earth. She has little enough sense to go back and even more astonishingly, to the same place. OK, so we get it, she is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but wait, there is more ! In a total vacation of sanity, she wears another woman’s expensive dress left with her employer to be cleaned.

In Beltino’s defense, why would he NOT go with Busty Proud (of them). She hit on him, and as far as his mind knows, he is still Chino the Murderer in a different body. Count his lucky stars that she likes it because he certainly does not. All he knows is that the universe changed one day and he is in some strange place with strangers who insist he teach things about which he knows nothing. He had some pretty decent stranger sex with this woman who is bossing him around, but he has spent most of his time trying to figure out what happened. Busty Rosita appears to be about the same age as young soldiers we send off to a war, so she ought to be allowed to choose who she beds down with. I’m hearing Van Halen ‘Hot for Teacher’

Of course our goons show that they are an order of magnitude smarter than the (by TN standards) smartie popo. When Columbo...Mantillo found those cell phones he should have done a Homer Simpson “DOH !”

Enoch, in the previous episode, Karla told Cami that she needed to get enough money to make sure her family could get out of the misery she left them in (when she stole all that money and burned down the house.)

OT-Susanlynn, one of my roses bushes is still blooming. I saw this and thought of you. ->->->->->->

It's called "Pink Peace" I wish you and your family much comfort and peace. (((HUGS)))

Ya know, to be practical, if she had just stolen all that money from the bank and put it in an IRA or Money Market, or shoot, even just bought gold, she would have left her family sitting pretty. And if they didn't catch wind of the theft till years later, she might have enough by then to pay it back. The Justice system doesn't expect stolen money to be paid back with interest as I understand.

Well Kirby,
I am pretty confident that the IRS demands that you pay tax on any stolen money!

"in a different body. Count his lucky stars that she likes it because he certainly does not."

So you don't think that Chino likes his Beltran body? He seemed to like the new family situation pretty well, what with an enthusiastic wife who loved his attentions (his original vieja had a flat affect face like she was sucking on a sour pickel. Also Chino in Beltran seemed to like the newson that he hit it off well with, even acting altruistic with him.

he likes the son but he only likes the wife cuz they f*ck all the time and she likes it bc the old beltran never touched her but now she's getting all sentimental abt how not everything is resolved with sex and now she made an appointment with the therapist so they can sort out their "problems."

Abt the body, he hates his body bc he's really skinny and has no muscle but this was due to the fact that beltran has a LOT of health problem. He constantly insults it, thats why he wants to go back to his original body bc he likes it and ofc he wants his life back. Tbh can't blame him cuz Alicia is annoying asf

Thank you, jardinera. I watched a bit of this episode..the part where Lucia saw the snake. Then, I changed the channel . I dont like snakes. By the way, there was a big debate on the litforum.com about snakes being venomous, not poisonous. If you Google those two terms, there seems to be a difference.

OT...Chickie, thank you for The photo of that beautiful rose. So kind of you. I had some good luck today. I had lost the necklace with hub's two wedding rings on it that I had been wearing. I was upset about it, but today I went to a late lunch with my best friend . She seemed very confident when she told me that I would find it. HUb and I went to school with her. We used to meet her husband and her every week for breakfast. When she became a widow, we met her once week for dinner. The three of us were close. When I got home, I put the necklace that I was wearing into a jewelry case and.......there was the necklace with the rings. I have no memory of putting it with my other necklaces. I had been keeping it separate when I took it off. Perhaps another message from hub.

Great 2nd Part summary REACTIONS / IMHO

BTW, one advantage of watching old movies & period telenovelas (like Amor Real) is that there are not confounded cell phone interruptions of the plot.

I forget how Pakito got enamored of Flat-Face-Never-Smile Jules. But he did get a smile out of her in this episode. U wud think if Jules is in MX to find Chino, she wud have fear of finding her too familiar w/ some tipo; then somebody dies.

I don't recall how Lucho offended Val, but she obviously is disinterested in him. It didn't seem like she chatted, but chored in talking with him. I see nothing in her appealing to a man thus far. She did amazingly invite him to her room.

I never heard before of doing divination with coffee residue; tea leaves yes. However, there was a song about Clouds in My Coffee -- You're So vain; you probably think this song is about you.

I don't know how the politician got into this story.
Johny goes into an adjoing bedroom and secretly calls Mr. Pol to see what's come of his

The snake was best part of episode. LOL.

CamelShrink got away with deflecting the question about where the chauffeur came from by raising an uproar (He probably had read Games People Play by Eric Berne, having studied Transactional Analysis).

So Lucrezia Borgia is doomed?
Super Jacob will save her.

susanlynn:
Thanks for telling that some wanted to distinguish venomous from poisonous. I intend to check it out. Meanwhile, it seems to me that veneno is spanish for poison, & venenoso would mean poisonous.

But I am no expert on snakes. I am recalling the poor snake in the newspaper cartoon BC, who got pounded from time to time by a human. A small one appeared in my RV. Then it disappeared! I hope it slithered out the door. I did go buy a large supply of moth balls which apparently they do not like. & I laid them out under the RV.

Lupe and juliana don't seem to care about the people around them. Such as when Juliana uses the sewing machine without asking for permission (believing she has the right to do it, whether it angers the owner or not), and also when Lupe's family member died when hiding them in the market place. Those two didn't even flinch, much less look back. They didnt even discuss it. They only care about themselves, everything else is collateral damage. Chino rubbed off of them or something.

Also why bother getting Chino back? She could just move on with her life.

AS TO KARLA:

Were we told that she went back to the same gamblers who stole her winnings in her old body?

Anon, I don't know if with a guy like Chino she could just move on with her life at will. If she were to do that, wouldn't Lupe be better back living the American dream? Didn't she go to MX to hunt down Chino?

Anon, she probably remembers that buried suitcase full of money.

So Lucrezia Borgia is doomed?
Super Jacob will save her. “

Yes Super Chofer Jacobo LeonChi LBJ will save her, they always do. Because they are car guys, that's what they do.
Like how Chofer Chava saved Sofia in Fin del Mundo. Car guy. Race car driver filling in chofering Marjorie de Sousa around. Good work if you can get it. Shoot, driving race cars is kinda fun too.

So LeonChi will save her, but it will be “Shake n Bake and I helped.” She will have to gnaw through the ropes or something to free him and he subsequently pounces on sleepingoon and shows him his tattoo.

Wideawakegoon shits his pants and while he is changing, Jacobo and Lucia steal a Harley and escape

Karla went back to the same gamblers she won from the night before, but I do not believe the identity of the previous gamblers was ever addressed.

Enoch: vibes of Carly Simon....je-je. BFF = chat for Best Friend Forever.

BTW, I think you mean Flat Face to be Loopy Lupi, Jule's mama. I have no clue why she's down there for El Chino unless she's scared if she ever did divorce him he'd kill the guy she took up with.

We also know the guy's a pol because he said the criminals pay for the campaigns.

--
Kirby: "Wait, self-respecting politician is an oxymoron, nevermind." Cute....

Susanlynn: hang in there with this one. You'll be glad you did!

Anonymous 7:05:00 PM: Loopy and Jules "only care about themselves, everything else is collateral damage. Chino rubbed off of them or something" is a very good point. However, it's only Jules' attitude. Lupi warned against borrowing Milagross's sewing machine but the girl just blew her off.

Thank you, Jardinera, your recap is much appreciated since I haven't had the time to watch yet.

Of course Johnny and his very bad, awful connections can't do anything for Lucia. Leonchi needs to save the day, get his smooch and then start a torrid affair with her...or so I assume. .

Is Eva stupid or.. stupid ? How can she still giggle with her murderous boyfriend when she knows what he's capable of? I see a big anvil in her future.

Enoch, using coffee to guess one's fortune is pretty common in the Balkans, my paternal grandma was pretty good at it. Gipsies do it, too.
More later, gotta run.

Adriana Noel: Please tell us more Balkan fun facts!

Kirby: "Super Chofer Jacobo LeonChi LBJ will save her, they always do. Because they are car guys, that's what they do." Interesting to think that the old man does the thinking and the young package has the reflexes to put and to complete the action once he and Luca make their move to escape. So, does the brain still connect to the new body when it comes to fight or flight. So far, all we've seen is ol' León getting his ass kicked from here to Kingdom Come.

" So, does the brain still connect to the new body when it comes to fight or flight. So far, all we've seen is ol' León getting his ass kicked from here to Kingdom Come."

Jardinera, glad you brought it up. I have been wondering roughly the same thing. Fighting is probably about half and half mental and physical, so I wondered if LeonChi would be worth a hoot at it when the time came. Though I suspect for the sake of the story Leon's 'spirit' in Chino's body will retain all the original fighting and "marksmanship" skills from Chino. I thought I was just being too clinical about the issue, so I kept my muzzle shut. I am glad you brought it up. In a perfect life after death with borrowed body, the new entity would retain the best of both contributors (in a TN) and none of the undesirable baggage.

Adriana:

Multiple choice. (mark only one)
Is Eva....?

A. stupid
B. cray cray
C. f'd up beyond all repair (fubar)
D. A, B, and C

Hoppy Sunday

"supply of moth balls which apparently they do not like. & I laid them out UNDER the RV."

With any luck the entire nearby serpent population, with their aversion to moth balls, will not seek refuge right IN THE RV ! DOH

Snakes, OTOH, are kinda cool. Squirrels are more fun though. With persistence you can sort of establish a dialog with them, especially if that dialog involves peanuts. Snakes, always seem sort of aloof, and that is really alright with both of us.

Kirby, your quizz is too hard, I have to think about it a bit. I don't think that Eva will get killed but I'm afraid for Mateo's life. He does seem kind of expendable to me. Maybe then she will get what she's dealing with.

Jardinera, there are so many strange traditions (for the rest of the world) in the Balkans I wouldn't even know where To start.
To remain on Death as a main subject, in my country of birth (Romania) 7 years after we bury someone it is customary to dig up their bones, perform a religious service and bury them again. People don't really believe in reincarnation but they do believe in spirits and upseting the dead...creepy stuff, I could go on and on.
I totally agree that Leonchi needs to snap, go full Chino and save himself and his damzel fast. I thought this would happen when he was attacked a few weeks ago, but no luck.
The muscles must definitely remember the movements and have the necessarry streanght but it's the brain who has to give the orders, right?

Greetings to All!

Enoch: “I don't recall how Lucho offended Val…” Val is pissed with him ever since Juls witnessed that fight they had because Lucho was basically telling her to “get over it” and was trying to get her to go out and have some fun. Later, when she called him, she never answered because he was out drinking with his friends.

Regarding “the politician,” I’m not sure it the man JohnEvil was talking to was a politician, but he is very involved with them…the crooked ones. He is conspiring with JohnEvil to get his party and candidate, Sanchez-Bueno, to the presidency.

Anon 7:05 : “Lupe and juliana don't seem to care about the people around them”. And “Also why bother getting Chino back?” I hadn’t really thought about it, but now that you mention it, you’re right! Lupita did warn Juls about using the sewing machine, but only because she’s afraid that Me-La-Gross will kick them out. If I remember correctly, Lupita told Pancho that she was there to find EL Chino because he needed to fulfill his responsibility (as a husband/father). Given what we have seen, I have no idea what makes her think he’ll do what he didn’t seem to be doing in San Antonio…except for providing a run-down trailer.

Adriana: “Is Eva stupid or…stupid ? How can she still giggle with her murderous boyfriend when she knows what he's capable of?” She is really stooopid and everything else Kirby listed. Viewerville knows that it was JohnEvil who had Leon killed, but she doesn’t and hasn’t it crossed her mind that Alacran may have had something to do with her father’s death?

And, “The muscles must definitely remember the movements and have the necessary strength but it's the brain who has to give the orders, right?” Yep, it’s the brain that gives the orders…and that body still has EL Chino brain! Will that brain eventually overpower the soul?

That is really interesting about the Romanian custom. Always something new to learn here!

OT-Susanlynn, I'm so glad you found your necklace. I truly believe that those who go before us are always with us and protecting us; so, yes, your hub is ALWAYS watching out for you!

What? Are you hunkered down behind the fifth pew furtively typing on your phone? Don't they take those at the door and give therm back when the service is over?

What?

Oh Early Mass, nevermind.

FF>>FF>>

Loved that as well as all your descriptions of the flagrantly flirtatious student and the hot to trot Beltran. I don't get his physical appeal but maybe it's just the "prof" status that attracts her.

Basically I just wish he'd get his a$$ up to Texas to get that money for his seeming son in Mexico City but obviously the writers have their reasons for drawing this out.

Adriana, love the Romanian customs you told us about. And your coffee dregs reading relative. I have known some people with second sight and it doesn't matter if they're reading coffee grounds or looking at your palm. They just "know".

And Susanlynn, yes, I imagine it was Hub directing you to the necklace. And I hope you feel his loving presence often in the days and months to come. Love is a link that transcends all boundaries of time and space.

Happy Sunday everyone. We have sunshine here after a miserable day Saturday of cold and rain.

OT....Judyb....It rained last night and it has been a dismal, chilly, gray day here. A little sunshine would be appreciated.

Yes, Kirby, some of us like to go to early mass. That leaves the rest of the day to relax between feeding animals, collecting eggs and whatever else needs to be done :-P

OT...kirby...a squirrel got into my garage the other day and I didn't see him and closed both garage doors. The next day when I went into the garage, he scared me by scurrying aground and running up the garage door. I opened both doors , and I hope that he went out. Later I discovered three walnuts under the car.

Susanlynn: I also am glad you found Hub's necklace. ITA with RGVchick and JudyB that our loved ones are like angles that stick by.

"Jacobo and Lucia steal a Harley and escape"
Now ur talkin, Kirby; a little action to the plot. But just before they ride off on the Harvey, Jacobo confronts the biggest goon, ripping the shotgun out of his hands & saying: "You clothes; I vant ur clothes." Then he pulls off goon's sunglasses & rides off w/ Lucia.

How do I divine w/ my coffee when I drink Taster's Choice instant?

How doth Eva Evil giggle w/ the Scorpion? Let say she's one of those women who are excited by the power of the powerful evil man. El Chapo has his woman. I was watching the 3:10 to Yuma 1957 yesterday, Glenn Ford the bad guy. The bar maid drooled over him as did the good guy's wife!

So the name "Chick" refers to your profession? You are into eggs?

susanlynn:
Maybe you should watch some squirrel videos on YouTube, particularly squirrel pets.
Around a university I went to the squirrels were rather tame, seeking people out for handouts. My wife would feed them out a window. It would appear that we are seeing more squirrels than usual in a telenovela.

As to Chauffeurs:
I recall 2 telenovelas that featured chauffeurs.
In Muñeca Brava, on YouTube w/ English subtitles, my favorite character was a secondary character, a chauffeur, a comic w/ a non-handsome face. But the daughter of the rich man, daughter whom he chauffeured, fell in love w/ him. He was anything but heroic. Quite funny tho.

In the other telenovela, the Chauffeur was not particularly heroic as a chauffeur; an enemy sabotaged the brakes & caused a crash.

So I have yet to see the Chauffeur as hero.

OT: Enoch I bottle fed and raised an orphan squirrel a few years ago. Entertaining little companion for a while, until he decided to go live with his kind, which I encouraged.

OT...Enoch...my dad was a man of few words. however, he liked to remind me to brush my teeth and stand up straight. when I went off to a college with lots of trees and lots of squirrels, he added one more piece of advice.."Dont play with the squirrels." I never have.

Susanlynn: Keep 'em comin' my dear!

typo: I meant to say
It would appear that we are seeing more ANIMALS than usual in a telenovela.
They missed the opportunity w/ Chino-in-Beltran: no alligators.
Thus far, what is it? Dog (who does not recognize Beltran -- did he ever win over the dog?), rabbits, & snake. Did I miss one?

Kirby As to ur multiple choice poll on Eva,
I have to add:

E. Egotist intoxicated by lust for power & sensual pleasure.
My guess is that she was spoiled rotten as a child & enjoyed bullying the servidumbre, as the child of a rich/powerful man.

OT- Enoch, it's more of a full-time hobby; I'm a retired educator. About 8 years ago, my neighbors, who raised chickens and some other farm animals, moved to Flori-duh and left their chickens behind (along with a couple of Chihuahua mixes); so I felt sorry for them and started feeding them...they have multiplied despite coyote, hawk, and bobcat attacks. Thank goodness they didn't leave other animals behind! Then about 5 years ago, I acquired a pair of goats...and they have also multiplied; I now have 26...and that's because I've sold quite a few.

Enoch and we have Max the Carvajal family dog who immediately recognized his master when LeonChino showed up.

The best was Amores con Trampa which had a lot of animals, who occasionally would just blurt out something. Not in thought bubbles, in actual Spanglish. It was hilarious, and the only thing which kept me watching the show.

Don’t forget Lady Death’s pets, the black moths

Thanks Chicken Girl :-)

RGVchick: You have a magic touch for animal husbandry it would seem! What was the subject you taught?

Kirby: Anyone who could tame an orphaned squirrel my hat goes off to you. No fear of rabies? And Max is what kind of breed? Mastif or possibly something else?

OT-Jardinera, I taught 4th gr all subjects, went back to get my school psych degree, and worked at the special ed dept where I later became the director. I never dreamed I’d be raising animals in my retirement...such is life!

RgvChick, in my neck of the woods, we would label you a “lifelong learner.” 🙂

OT-Jardinera, I will take credit where credit is due, but I actually didn't have to tame the orphan rodent. Unknown to me, the tree trimmers had destroyed a squirrel nest in a palm tree. As I was walking around to see how much of a mess they made I spotted a peanut size still almost hairless newborn in the lawn.

I got it and took it in and fed it drops of milk off a toothpick and later from a kitten bottle. It was several weeks before it's eyes were even open. It was an adolescent before it figured out that it and I had some differences other than size.

It was a sweet little critter. Would sleep in my shirt pocket while I did yard work.

We are ALL lifelong learners, Jarifa :-)

RgvChick, It is the only way to roll!

Jarifa: ITA!

Kirby: just as amazing!

RGVchick: goes to show the diversity here just on this blog alone. I love it.

Ot..first of all, let me just say that I love you all so much. After I got my two Grandgirls off to school this morning, I got in my car for my five minute drive home. I always have an oldies station on , and HUb seems to be sending me messages through it. "Last Dance" by Donna Summer started playing , and I remembered how Hub twirled me around and around as the dj played that last song at the oldies dances that we went to with friends. I remembered how happy and dizzy I felt. CRYing....Then I came home and read your comments and smiled at all you kind souls out there on the patio. Your comments are a nice distraction for me , and make me feel less lost.

Chick:

My wife loves animals. She used to have a pet rooster & chicken; she would call Charlie & he would come running. Then she had a couple of geese, finally given to a friend of mine, a goat farmer. Unfortunately, a bob cat got the geese. I love goat's milk. We have 3 dogs now; 1 inside; 2 big ones who love outside & don't mind cold & wet -- very friendly, but they put on a bark if someone approaches the house. We had a Chihuahua some years ago, but it liked to sneak up on men from behind & bite the ankle. Our present indoor dog looks like an tiny Italian greyhound, tho I have been told it is half Chihuahua, Peggy Sue. But Peggy has no Chihuahua feistiness in her. Outside we have a white Labrador retriever who loves to carry sticks around, 90 lbs. The other seems to be at least predominantly Golden Retriever. As a little puppy, she just popped out from under an outdoor work table I have one day ~February, came running up to me & said to me, "I am your dog." My wife said, "Let's keep her." And we did. I put up a public sign advertising her, & the vet said she had no chip. No one claimed her, so we kept her. I found out that Golden Retrievers seem to be the most friendly breed there is. I like to watch them on YouTube.

I used to think bad of goats based on Matthew 25 which has the 3 Groups Judgment (Sheep, Goat, & Christ's Brethren); but it is just a parable I now realize. I don't think it was intended to defame goats. I had an abandoned house next door when real estate collapsed in my city years ago. It had a lot of weeds. So I asked my farmer friend to bring a goat. While he visited me, he turned the goat loose on those weeds. Bye & bye to my surprise, that goat came to my house, climbed the steps to the front porch & came to my door. Evidently he was fearing abandonment & sought his amo. I never dreamed a goat would act that way.

BTW, I recall a story some years ago called "The Egg & I."

Kirby, now I must check out Amores con Trampa. Is it a telenovela? Who made it? Talking animals! My wife would love it. Thanks for the ref.

As I recall:

There was an old TV series, "I Remember Mama" and a movie of the same name about a Norwegian immigrant family. They advertised Maxwell House Coffee. At Christmas they would have a thing about animals talking at midnight on Christmas Eve. I was skeered of that idea.

(I would not watch Lights Out! a terrifying series, one in which people were in an alive house, where there were veins in the walls & the House was in process of digesting them). But I digress.

Amores con Trampa.

I checked it out. There is a very short WickedPedia article on it. I see actors I like, particularly Harry Geithner. Says "It is the remake of the telenovela Somos los Carmona produced in 2013"

"Itatí Cantoral, Eduardo Yáñez, Ernesto Laguardia and África Zavala star as the protagonists, while Nora Salinas and Harry Geithner star as the antagonists."

At first I said, "But I may check our first Somos los Carmona, if that was the Colombian original, since I expect the Colombian & first creation to be better than a Mexican remake."

However, I find now that Somos los Carmona was a Chile production. What I have seen of Chile is the dark-genre (remade by Telinmundo) like Donde Esta Elisa & the name escapes me at the moment, the telenovela where they do a Jack the Ripper thing. (In real life I understand that his chief rippee girl took up romantically with the Jack of the show.) Chile also seems to be willing to go more in the porno direction than either Univision or Telinmundo

Susanlynn, we love you too. And "Last Dance" by Donna Summer is a fab song. So glad Hub danced with you till you were dizzy and is sending you love notes via radio now.

Kirby, the squirrel story was to die for. What a lucky little guy.

Rgv Chick...loved your story too, and your chickens, goats and miscellaneous critters are very lucky. Our late departed President Bush wanted a kinder, gentler nation and you all are just what and who he had in mind. People who nurture and protect. And put in the work to do so. Ain't easy.

Judy. Shirt pocket squirrel. Look at his size compared to my thumb.--------------------------> > >

So will Jac-o-Save-Me-Please get his kiss tonight? Though it would probably be unrealistic to have such a quick rescue/escape, I hopeo they don't drag this out.

OT-Enoch, that goat was probably just looking for some company; goats are not at all loners.

Chick, I hope for a quick end to the sequestration of Lucia.

About my least favorite Telenovela theme is the sequestered suffering female motif. They pulled that one in Zorro, where they stuck Marlene Favela in the basement of a shack in the woods while she was pregnant w/ Zorro, Jr. for about 8 months (of story time). I thot she wud be going out w/ Zorro to make Zorro-fools out of the Comandante (Harry Geithner) etc. at night sharing the daring-do, like putting the Z mark over the pants-bottoms of the enemies; but no, they stuck her in a basement! They fouled up the story by departing from the Zorro/Super hero theme & turning it into a more typical telenovela.

Also I saw how this TN is going to be shorter than usual.

To digress: I never saw so fancy a wedding as Marlene Favela had in real life. Good payback for the time in the basement.

Enoch, then you would have probably been good with La Piloto, Rosario Tejeras and Bela Y Las Beastias
Some bad ass chicks & to die for too.

I betcha LeChing busts Lucia and himself out tonight. W Studios and the Lemon crowd is not big, from what I have seen, on dragging this stuff to China and back. They keep it moving.

Days of our Lives or as the Stomach turns you can miss a year and be caught up in two episodes. In shows by these people a couple missed episodes and you are lost.

That little fella was so tiny and vulnerable Kirby. So glad you rescued him and nurtured him to a healthy adolescence! Not easy.

Chick,
Thanks a lot for your goat psychology explanation.
