Mi Marido Tiene Más Familia, Capítulo 71, Thursday, December 20, 2018; A Doctor and Vegetable Dealer Walk into a Bar….
We open
with where we left off yesterday, with Blanca’s reflections of what family is
and what it means, how family is supposed to accept you as you are and form
their own community together. The family applauds Blanca.
In the
hallway, Dani and Gabe discuss how difficult things became with the family
knowing their business. He promises they will have a family. Hermoso barks in
the background when they kiss.
Linda
and Ari talk and she tells him she supports him 1000%. She says she is there
for him if he needs her. He goes off to look for Temo, but finds Cristanta who
tells him he has already left for Toluca. Ari is shocked.
Robert
and Julieta talk, he promises that things will work out and that he will get another
wedding ring in the future. Ari walks in and tells Robert and Julieta that Temo
has left town to go live in Toluca and by golly, someone has to do something to
stop him from going. Robert offers to drive, but Julieta says he drives too
slow. So Julieta runs out with Ari in search of Temo. This is an emergency!
On the
way the way to the bus depot, Julieta is driving like a maniac and poor Ari is
her scared passenger. She is speeding, honking her horn, weaving in and out of
traffic, and in one instance, she seemed to do the “one finger salute” to
another driver. [Don’t know why this is worth putting her life
and Ari’s life in danger though.] At the bus station, Temo hugs his
family goodbye and goes off for the last call for Toluca to board his bus.
Robert,
Blanca, and Polita try to explain to Imelda what this is all about and she just
gets angry and scoffs. She scolds Polita for daring to divorce her wonderful
son, Audifás. Polita is very angry and Robert tried to get her to calm down.
Susana
is enjoying herself with her sons at the pool. She wants to tell them something,
but first says she is going to make some lemonade. She says she want to talk to
her about her feelings. She remembers talking to Pancho about how difficult it
will be to talk about this with her children. She starts to tell them, she
looks back at Axel, stammering on her words.
At the
church, a woman named Daphne tries to explain to Audi that some are different
and all want to be loved. [This is not what he wanted to hear.]
Julieta
and Ari finally get to the bus terminal, but Temo has already boarded. Ari runs
off and he guard runs after him. Ari find the bus that Temo is on. Temo sees Ari
there and then gets off the bus which hasn’t actually left yet. Everyone was
ready and all aboard. At the same time that Temo gets off the bus, his friend
Diego comes running with his suitcase. Temo cries, “Why did you come,
Aristotles?” Ari begins to explain. In the background, Pancho says it’s like watching
a movie. Ari asks Temo to stay and he agrees to stay. Pancho and the twins are
also very happy.
Diego
wants to know if Temo can show him around Oaxaca and Temo agrees to show him
around. The Lopez family takes off and so does Ari with Julieta. She tells him
that anytime he wants to talk she is there for him as his cousin/friend.
Back at
Susana’s house, Sebas asks, “Why do I have to be brave?” Right after he says
that, they hear the doorbell ringing. So Susana gets up to answer it and guess
who it is? It’s Vicente coming to ruin Susana’s day. He says he just came to
spend time with his sons, so she points toward the pool and directs him to go
there.
Outside
at Susana’s Sebas mentions that his mother had something to say that required
bravery. Susana says, “No we can talk about that another time. Your dad came to
spend time with you.” Sebas wants to watch a movie and says something to Axel
about it. However is Axel is off in daydream land thinking about what happened
with Linda, so he is not listening. Sebas says, “Earth to Axel!” A second
later, Vicente’s phone rings and it’s Robert asking if they can meet privately
the following day because it’s important.
Hugo
and Diana run into Catalina and Tavo outside. Hugo wants to know what Tavo’s
intentions are with her. Catalina says they are just friends and they enjoy
having good conversations and discussion together. “Is that true, Tavo?” says
Hugo. Tavo says yes. So then Hugo warns, “Well my dear mother can always count
on a fierce tornado to defend her honor!” [Hugo starts to spin in a circle, mimicking his version of a
fierce tornado.] Catalina laughs and says, “Relax Hugo, can’t you
see the difference in our ages?” Then Hugo says, “With love, there is no age
problem.” He spins around to depict a tornado again. Catalina reiterates that
they have a great friendship and nothing more.
Iker
comes to visit Linda but she doesn’t look too thrilled. He notices and she says
she is just busy with a lot of pending things she needs to complete. He also
asks if it is true that she really wanted him over Axel. [But you can tell she is not really enjoying his
kisses.]
The
twins are playing the “Gas Out” game in the hallway. It makes a farting noises,
andAudifáz is not too pleased at all, calling them dirty kids.
Julieta
and Blanca are sitting and sewing buttons together. Blanca has all kinds of words
of wisdom for Julieta while they sew. Robert comes in and tells them that
Pancho invited him out for drinks. Both Julieta and Blanca are very surprised
but happy that Pancho and Robert seem to be getting along better.
Gabe is
on the phone with some new business as an event planner. He asks the lady on
the phone what kind of an event she needs done. She says, “a baby shower.” He
kind of winces but goes on to tell her he will be glad to serve her and
explains what he can do for her.
Dani
daydreams about a baby and looks at cribs online. Gabe walks in and sees her
looking at the cribs. She quickly closes the laptop and says she does not want
him to feel pressure. They then discuss whether she wants a boy or girl. Dani
is good with either, just as long as the baby is healthy. They start to kiss,
but Hermoso starts to bark again. Gabe then says, “this is a good time to show
you all the tricks that Hermoso can do.” He then proceeds to get Hermoso to do
all kinds of tricks.
Robert
and Pancho walk into a bar and order shots of Mescál together and drink to
their health.
Temo
and Diego discuss Ari and wonder why it is that he went after Temo. Ari comes
by with his portable piano and wants to know if Temo wants to continue his
lessons. Temo says not right now, but would he like to hang out with both him
and Diego. Ari turns him down and says he will see them later. Temo wonders of
Ari is jealous, or just jealous as a friend.
Blanca
and Julieta are sewing, finishing up buttons. Julieta is tired and ready for
bed, but Blanca is ready to start to teach Julieta about embroidery and
weaving. Blanca doesn’t want to stop because she thinks that she and Julieta are
really connecting very well. Blanca wants to hear the story of how Robert and
Julieta met Then Linda comes prancing in ready to hear the stories herself.
Julieta tells her to be quiet or she will sew her mouth shut. Blanca tells her
not to be so imprudent, that she needs to go fetch herself some tea and bread
for some supper. Linda starts to walk away, but receives a text from Axel who
wants to see her the following day. Blanca thinks it was Iker.
Susana
puts Sebas to bed and Sebas still wants to know what she was going to tell him.
But Susana says it is quite late and can wait till tomorrow. Sebas tells her he
had a good time with her today. She is very happy and kisses him good night.
Pancho
and Robert are talking and drinking. Robert shares with him that he wants to
win back Julieta. As they are going to drink to that again, Pancho turns around
and sees Vicente at the other side of the bar with a man. He is upset to see
Vicente there and mentions to Robert that Vicente is his “rival”. Robert is
surprised to hear this news as Pancho goes on to tell him that Susana is his “novia.”
At this point, Pancho turns around to look at Vicente who finally notices
Pancho’s presence there. Pancho gives him a look and growls at him.
Ari is
up late, Polita tells him he should be in bed but Ari can’t sleep. He tells her
he will take care of her and be the man of the house.
Back at
the sewing table, Julieta remembers the first time she met Robert and smiles.
Blanca asks about their first date. Julieta smiles and says he took her to an
80s themed party. Her mother thought Robert was the best looking man that Julieta
had ever dated.
At the
bar, Robert too recounts his first date with Julieta to Pancho. Then Pancho
gets up and goes over to Vicente to try to annoy him. He asks, “So what are you
doing here with your little friend?” Vicente says something about being
misplaced like the rest of the people there. Robert says a little greeting to
Vicente himself, but Pancho and Vicente start to get heated. Vicente calls
Pancho a “poca cosa” such as an inferior person and a vegetable salesman.
Pancho gets mad and take a punch at Vicente. Then Vicente takes a punch at
Pancho, but Pancho dodges and Vicente hits Robert instead. Pancho take another
punch….

I fell asleep and cannot believe I missed the bar room brawl. This doesn’t bode well for Susana trying to declare she and Pancho are a couple, does it? Speculation (not spoiler) that this will push Vincente into confronting Susana and likely in front of the “boys”. He is an elitist snob and I see nothing likeable about him.
Seems like both Susana and Julieta are noticeably absent from work. Who is running things?
I could not for the life of me figure out what Hugo was doing so thank you for explaining that. Hugo is sort of a dope. Granted a very handsome one and not a bad guy but just seems a few steps behind. He and Diana are the most mismatched couple IMHO.
While I’m thinking Cat and Tavo friendship will likely blossom into more, I like their genuine camaraderie and what it has done to improve Cat’s temperament.

Now I’m wondering if Ari does indeed have deeper feelings for Temo than he realizes. I am not sure friendship was a good enough reason getting Temo to stay.

Diana, Hugo’s nickname was “Tornado” as a kid and it seems to have followed him as an adult like with his “Tornado” hot dogs. Thanks for the info on your “fur son” which now makes Hermoso’s barking more realistic. I am starting to wonder about Ari’s feelings for Temo, too. There is just so much to like in this novela. Great storytelling!
Wow...awesome title. And asking a couple to remember how they first met, or what their first date was like, is a great way to stir up warm memories. Often when I visit people in the hospital, and things seem grim, I ask the couple to tell me about their early courtship. Instantly the sad looks turn into smiles as they reminisce about the fun and romance of those early days. I hope for all of you who have happy memories that you re-visit them now. Unfortunately my cold has now hung on for close to four weeks and I feel as rotten as ever. Need to take a walk down Memory Lane myself!

Jarifa, thank you for the info about the "Tornado". That's not ringing a bell with me so this clarifies his behavior. And, I've found my fur kids did/do exhibit a mixture of jealousy and simply wanting to be included. My fur daughter will bark to be picked up to be part of a hug or kiss as well.
Judy, so sorry your cold is lingering on. Even though this is such a busy time of year, I hope you are able to take a bit of time to rest so that you can recover.

Good Morning, MMTMF patio! Sorry I have been neglecting you all, but what with all that has been happening here, recapping. and taking care of the kids. it has been HECTIC! Even my house has been neglected ARGHH! And the loss of two of the "kids" didn't make it any easier :-(

I don't know what to make of the Temo situation and Ari. First Julieta could have gotten them killed trying to get to the station on time. Then I was bracing myself in case I had to watch Ari and Temo kiss :-)
I have no problem with two men kissing romantically in general, but I am not comfortable watching it. Much as I don't much care for wedding scenes where the bride and groom share a kiss and start swapping spit and doing dental exams. Just tacky.
And, back to Ari and Temo, is Ari getting Temo's hopes up without good cause? After having been misled about Audifaz and Aura I'm being cautious on this one.

Blanca has come a long way from her season 1 persona. That thought occurred to me when she was telling off Imelda about accepting family differences.

Gabe cracked me up when he said Pancho's name with a slight Pancho accent.
Instead of tearing across town, why didn't anyone try to call Pancho or Temo's cell phone? Oh. right. telenovela. beanie. hat. time.
Temo turned down Diego's feelings, just as Ari turned down Temo's feelings. Does Temo realize that?
I'm glad church lady told Audi that they accept others and the message is love.
Today is the winter solstice. I survive facing the rest of winter, from this day forth (well, really tomorrow, but let's not split hairs-lol), by reminding myself that now the days are getting longer. :-) Cold here, in the low 40s and "feels like" 30º, north wind, howling thru trees, drizzle. And one section of lights on our "pre lit" Xmas tree just went out last night. Argh. No wonder the wise people of "way back when" put Christmas as this time of year. At least the rest of the tree works. We might string some regular lights in the blackout area and call it a day. :-D

Rgv Chick, I am so sorry about your kids as well. There is something so cruel and heartbreaking about seeing a young, innocent animal die. And baby animals are the worst. Seems like there is a lot of sadness around our PATIO this season. Hoping for a happier 2019 for all of us.

RGV Chick, I’m so sorry about your “kids”. I hate to see little animals suffer and die so young. I’m happy that you are keeping up with the show through recaps. Yeah, I don’t know about Gabe and Dani’s reconciliation. They do seem very happy. I fear that something will go wrong though. I hope I’m wrong, but I do enjoy seeing them getting along well and Gabe not suffering from depression. I fear we will get something negative in the works, but who knows?
Diana, that’s right, Hugo was called Tornado by his family. Not sure why it was his nickname though. I laughed at his spinning around. Oh, that barroom brawl was good and so slapstick!
Niecie, I am missing Eugenio too. What I read in some of the Spanish magazines, was that the actor had to have surgery.
Andy, I am with you, I am not comfortable seeing same sex couples kissing and neither do I like to see what appears to be the tongue in the mouth type of kissing with opposite sex couples on TV. I’m a Hallmark movie girl and prefer clean kissing with couples. I love watching Outlander, but the scenes with the married couple of Jamie and Claire are very well done. Passion has its place there.
The way I see things here is that the writers are promoting two extremes. We get either Imelda’s and Audifáz’s mean, nasty view of homosexuality or we get a PROMOTION and CELEBRATION of the homosexual culture that is totally normalized. There is no position in the middle where anyone can disagree with homosexual practices but not promote it, being kind and understanding at the same time. There is no middle ground given here. No one ever says, “Well, I disagree with what you are doing, but I love you nonetheless. Let me know if you would like to talk about it.” Today’s political climate shuts down any discussion where anyone can disagree and ad hominem attacks on anyone who disagrees are the norm.
I’m just wondering if the scene was, let’s say a 16 or 17 year old Frida who really liked a boy as a good friend, but the 16 or 17 year old boy was head over heels in love with her. He decides he can’t take it anymore and is very depressed, so he decides to leave and go to another town. Then Frida says, “Oh no, I can’t lose my best friend!” So someone drives her to the bus depot risking life and limb to stop this young boy from leaving town. No, it wouldn’t happen that way. In fact, the adults would just tell her, “let him go, he needs some time to himself.” Nobody would be seriously promoting a teenaged relationship; and Temo, Ari, and Diego are all teenagers. RGV Chick, I’m so sorry about your “kids”. I hate to see little animals suffer and die so young. I’m happy that you are keeping up with the show through recaps. Yeah, I don’t know about Gabe and Dani’s reconciliation. They do seem very happy. I fear that something will go wrong though. I hope I’m wrong, but I do enjoy seeing them getting along well and Gabe not suffering from depression. I fear we will get something negative in the works, but who knows?
Diana, that’s right, Hugo was called Tornado by his family. Not sure why it was his nickname though. I laughed at his spinning around. Oh, that barroom brawl was good and so slapstick!
Niecie, I am missing Eugenio too. What I read in some of the Spanish magazines, was that the actor had to have surgery.
Andy, I am with you, I am not comfortable seeing same sex couples kissing and neither do I like to see what appears to be the tongue in the mouth type of kissing with opposite sex couples on TV. I’m a Hallmark movie girl and prefer clean kissing with couples. I love watching Outlander, but the scenes with the married couple of Jamie and Claire are very well done. Passion has its place there.
The way I see things here is that the writers are promoting two extremes. We get either Imelda’s and Audifáz’s mean, nasty view of homosexuality or we get a PROMOTION and CELEBRATION of the homosexual culture that is totally normalized. There is no position in the middle where anyone can disagree with homosexual practices but not promote it, being kind and understanding at the same time. There is no middle ground given here. No one ever says, “Well, I disagree with what you are doing, but I love you nonetheless. Let me know if you would like to talk about it.” Today’s political climate shuts down any discussion where anyone can disagree and ad hominem attacks on anyone who disagrees are the norm.
I’m just wondering if the scene was, let’s say a 16 or 17 year old Frida who really liked a boy as a good friend, but the 16 or 17 year old boy was head over heels in love with her. He decides he can’t take it anymore and is very depressed, so he decides to leave and go to another town. Then Frida says, “Oh no, I can’t lose my best friend!” So someone drives her to the bus depot risking life and limb to stop this young boy from leaving town. No, it wouldn’t happen that way. In fact, the adults would just tell her, “let him go, he needs some time to himself.” Nobody would be seriously promoting a teenaged relationship; and Temo, Ari, and Diego are all teenagers. Teens change their relationships all the time, so why take this one so seriously?

Thank you, everyone, for your sympathies...it really does make me feel better. It's amazing how we get so attached to animals. The kids were just days old, but it was painful to have to bury them. I won't go into detail as to how they died; suffice it say that the mama was not feeling well. She is the one who had triplets so she has one left.
OT...Doris...thanks for that encouraging information about the days getting longer. I stay with my granddaughters until their mother gets home from work around 5.00 . I leave right away to make the ten minute drive home before complete darkness. It is tough leaving alone , and moreso in the dark.

Susanlynn - it takes four weeks before I can really see the days starting to lengthen, but I just tell myself every day. That is probably why the winter solstice was such a big day in ancient times. Hubby and I visited Bru NA Bóinne http://www.worldheritageireland.ie/bru-na-boinne/

Oh RgvChick, days old? I can't feel your pain but I emphathize and sympathize. As Judy said so insightfully, it is terrible to see innocent animals die. The poor mother. Bless you for taking care of the mother and her one surviving kid.

I didn't realize/understand that Diego cared for Temo other than being a friend. Perhaps things might change. Very confused at this point and don't know what to think.
Ari and Temo seem very young. Whenever I see young couples (I don't care if it's opposite or same sex), I sometimes worry they just seem too darned young. Is my AARP membership showing? :) And Cynthia, I agree that Julieta's red hot pursuit seemed a bit extreme.
Such chases seem best reserved for couples madly in love forced to part. I keep thinking about Erica Buenfil chasing Eduardo Yanez (can't remember the characters names) in Amores Verdaderos trying to intercept him before he boarded a bus. Their kiss when she did so was incredible.
