Mi marido tiene más familia Wednesday 12/19/18 Capítulo 70 Blanca Really Does Knows Best

Blanca answers very much on the defensive and tells Julieta that living with her family shouldn't be felt to be something negative.  It isn't the worst thing that could happen in her life.  Julieta tries to explain that it has nothing to do with Blanca but it has to do with her own expectations for herself.

Dani informs Imelda that even though she respects Imelda she will not let her repeat that her husband is not enough of a man.  Imelda thinks that Gabriel isn't the right man for Dani if he cannot give her a child. Gabriel  does not understand how Imelda could say that when he is currently treating the health problems that he has. Dani won't take Imelda's meddling either. It is her private life and she and Gabriel will solve their own problems. Imelda will not shut up. She just wants more grand children and Dani deserves to be a mother. Gabriel asks if she doesn't think that he also wants to be a father. It is his greatest wish. He will do whatever necessary to have a child and if in the end he cannot, he will still be a good man for Dani. Imelda sighs and shakes her head.

In the kitchen, Blanca is making hot chocolate for Julieta. Julieta is begging her not to take what she said personally.  What she feels is only what she feels.  It doesn't matter how much they work. They still have their money problems. She confides in Blanca that she and Robert aren't in the best place in their marriage. There is still some distance between them. Blanca says she has not noticed any distance but now that Dave is back, they should try to get back together and solve their problems. Blanca believes that life puts obstacles in our way to  make us stronger. She grabs and kisses Julieta's hand. Blanca moves on excitedly to the subject of Dave's first communion. She is so excited that Dave is back. Julieta thanks Blanca for talking to her, her support and for her home.  Blanca just beams.

Axel and Iker are still pleading their case to Linda. When they are finished Linda turns away from them with tears in her eyes. It is decision making time.

At Polita's she is so pleased that with her last paycheck she was able to buy enough ham to give Ari a double portion. Ari is proud of his mother being such a fighter and hard worker. Polita tells him that he and his brother are the most important things to her.  Polita wants to know why Ari looks s sad. He ran into Audifaz and he hadn't changed his mind at all.  Ari though that when he left, Audi would start to think. Polita reminds him that  he has her, little Arqui, his aunts and uncles and Temo.

Audifaz is with Aura giving her his sad sack "poor me" song and dance act about how he never thought he would feel so alone.  She tells him he is not alone. Audi tells her that he feels that they have a special connection. It is delight to talk to her. He is strongly attracted to her. He goes to touch he face and Aura gets up and turns her back on him. She tells him NO. She cannot return his feelings because she is married. He apologizes. He didn't know since he never saw her husband with her.  It turns out that her husband is not interested in religion.  He thinks differently than she and she loves him for who he is. She suggests that Ari do the same because love is the most wonderful thing that exists.  He shouldn't let anger dry out his heart. She leaves and Audi is left thinking of Polita slapping him.

The time has come for Linda  to pick  a winner and loser between he two suitors.  Linda choses Iker. Axel breaks down. As he leaves, he makes Linda cry wishing her and Iker happiness. Iker is all excited about all of the things they will be able to do together now. Linda looks less than impressed.

Pancho and Robert  run in to each other in the hall.  Pancho invites Robert to go have a beer or a mezcal tomorrow. Robert likes the idea. He thanks Pancho for talking with him. Pancho admits that he also needs a good friend. The do a special hand shake on it.

Susana calls Pancho to tell him that Vicente kissed her. It just infuriates him that Vicente is playing dirty. Susana understands how Pancho feels and she put a stop on it. Susana makes it clear she is seeing him just when she has to with the kids. Pancho says if he sees him, he will make it clear in "black and blue."  Susana does not want him to get into it because she loves him. Pancho loves her, too. He won't let any rotten villain separate them.

Julieta, Robert, Dani and Blanca are conversing. Julieta cannot believe Imelda's comment about Gabriel not being man enough for Dani.  Blanca agrees that one's intimacy always has to be respected. Julieta rolls her eyes. Blanca catches that and reminds her well they were getting on so well in the kitchen and not to start anything.  Blanca informs Gabriel that they found out about this little problem by accident. Robert says then it all turned out okay. Dani answers not quite and adds that Imelda suggested that she and Gabriel get a separation. Robert will be happy to help Gabriel to find a specialist. Gabriel says they are already seeing somebody.  Julieta sees the problem as the same old same old people with closed minds.

Julieta finds Dave in his bed reading. Is he okay? It is just that he just been in a lot of different beds lately. She knows it has been hard for him.  He is happy the four of them are together again in the same room. He is super happy with his catechism class. She is super happy that he is super happy. He thanks her for letting him make his first communion. He asks if his bio-dad Fernando will be there. She says that she sent him all fo the information.  Blanca comes in with a home remedy for Julieta's headache. She has thin slices of potato for Julieta to put on her temples. Julieta tries to avoid the cure saying she will apply them later after Robert gives her a pill since Robert is a doctor. Well, Blanca is a mother and has more experience. Blanca suggests she try the potato cure just once. As she tries to applies them on Julieta's head, Julieta backs up and  tells he she does not want the potato cure PERIOD!!! Blanca, Robert and Dave's eyes are huge. Blanca looks hurt again.  Later, Robert and Julieta are in bed together. Yes, she has potato slices adhering to her temples. Robert laughs. She tells him not to laugh.   She hopes the potatoes help because if she didn't take the cure, Blanca would have never allowed them to sleep.   Robert tells her to look on the positive side. The potatoes could work. She hopes so because now she feels like a restaurant dish.  Robert chuckles. Julieta is just happy to be alone and having a little peace.  He thinks of getting a little romantic but then thinks better of it.  As they go to turn off the light, they hear an odd spooky sound.  Dave jumps in bed with them. The  noise is coming for the hallway.  Everyone is up and Julieta's potato slices have fallen off. Who is it? What is it? It is calling for Imelda.  Robert suggest they all go to confront it.  They crawl out from the apartment door to see what is in the hall.  A ghost has come for Imelda. Pancho is out in the hall, too, now. Robert lifts the costume and it is Crisanta.  Julieta cannot believe that Crisanta has no limits. Imelda tells "Cris Boba" (Cris the fool) to stop her silliness. Crisanta is happy because she scared them, right? As Crisanta goes on and becomes more insulting, Pancho quickly escorts her back into the apartment. Linda welcomes Julieta to her new home.

The next morning Robert and his family are all awakened by a crowing rooster and a blinking light. Blanca appears at the door with orange juice for them all. Julieta wants to just turn the alarm clock off. Blanca does just that. The alarm clock is something that Blanca bought it on the internet. You don't have to have it set for  a rooster to awaken you. It has all kinds of animal sounds. Dave loves it so Blanca sets it to a cow. Julieta gives up.

Gabriel and the family are getting everything set up for Dave's first communion celebration.  Dave is dressed all in white but his suit itches him. Julieta tells him  not to say a thing because his grandma made it specially for him with love. Imelda has a problem with Ari and Temo being there because it is a religious event. Blanca tells her it is Robert's event and  Ari and Temo are staying. Imelda announces she is leaving then. Temo runs into the hall crying. Imelda tells Julieta not to look at her with those eyes because in this case she is right and Julieta is wrong. Pancho talks to Temo in the hall. Imelda is just an old woman who thinks differently.  Temo says it is not only her. They treat him as if he were a monster. Temo asks if he can move back to Toluca right away. He doesn't want to be here any longer. In the meantime, Julieta is telling Imelda off  in front of them all.  Imelda has to humiliate and degrade others because they are not how Imelda would like them to be.  There is no love coming from Imelda for first Ari, then Gabriel. Who is next? At that point, Imelda reminds Julieta that she came to stay at her home and her rules will be respected.  If not, they can find another place to live. Silence follows.

Temo is tired of being treated like a leper. Then there is Julio who he believes is not going to ever change. Pancho understands and will not force him to stay.  Pancho says to give him time to talk to Temo's older siblings in Toluca. Temo has done that already and he has also bought his bus ticket. Pancho suggests they relax at there own place and then attend Dave's first communion. Temo says fine but no matter what, he is going back to Toluca today. Pancho gets on his cell phone and tells the person on the other end to hurry up.

Blanca stands up to Imelda and tells her that she cannot talk to Julieta that way. Imelda says that they welcomed them with open arms but she will not put up with immorality in her house. Julieta informs her that Temo and Ari were not doing anything immoral. Imelda makes her point that this is a "family" event so Ari going to the first communion is one thing but his strange friend is something else. Polita asks Imelda to show some respect. Imelda tells her not to get her started because she is angry with Polita wanting to divorce her son. Robert asks Imelda to stop the arguing already. Imelda asks him if he is in favor of all of these aberrations. It seems everyone is in favor of breaking the established order.  Everyone is against her. What is wrong with them? Robert tries to explain that sometimes the  established order doesn't work for people. It doesn't make them happy. Imelda says they can do what they want but she is not moving from where she is right on the couch.  Dave wants Imelda to come to his first communion. Ari tells them that he did as she asked. Temo will not come.  Julieta makes one thing clear.  They only reason she agreed to live here with her family was because Blanc invited her because it would be the best for her, Robert and the children.  She assures them all that they will not be there for long. Imelda adds that it will be better for all of them that way. Robert has had enough and helps Imelda get to church. Polita thanks Julieta for defending her son. Julieta says Ari is a part of her family and she will fight for him no matter what. Dave says he will also defend Ari. He doesn't care he is gay.

Robert lectures Imelda about respecting others in her room.  Imelda is surprised he is so angry. She was just giving them advice on how to live a good life. Robert says she wasn't doing that by attacking Temo and running Julieta out of this very house. She denies that and tries to make nice. Robert knows  he is always welcome in her home.  Robert tells her that it sure doesn't feel that way. Playing the pity card, she says that is why it is better that she not go to the communion. Robert won't fall for it.  It is Dave's first communion and she is his great-grandmother. She asks if she is just supposed to shut up. Robert says no but she has to realize that everyone in the family doesn't think about things in the sane way that she does. They have to learn to live together.  She loves them all a lot but he is asking way too much of her. She was raised very differently.  Robert tells her that she is going to have to accept that everything has changed or he and his family will have to find another place to live.  She says NO!  to that.

Susana tells Crisanta about Vicente and the kiss. Yes, she told him about Pancho and made it clear that she respects and loves Pancho. Crisanta thinks that Vicente is jealous. Susana is going to tell Sebas about her and Pancho when they get back from Dave's first communion. Crisanta sighs.

Pancho gets a text from the mystery person telling Pancho to just give him enough time. Temo is all packed up and ready to  go to be with people who love and accept him. Pancho  is afraid that Temo will not be happy.  Temo is afraid, too, but he has to take a risk. Maybe distance will help his broken heart. Temo sits on his bed with his luggage and basketball.

The communion party is on and it looks like Gabriel's planning was a success. Dave is with his communion godfather is bio-dad Fernando. Yes, Dave liked the mass. Fernando says his communion was magical. We see a flashback to the ceremony. Gabriel says it is time for a toast. Fernando stands with Dave's "Oppa" parents who make sure to give Fernando his due. Fernando speaks and is so happy to be there with all of them. He never had a family himself.  Robert talks about love being the force that joins them. Dave does his "imán" thing with Robert and Julieta and teaches Fernando how to do it, too. Dave talks. He is so happy and also needs to say something to someone special. He asks Lupita to be his novia and she accepts and Pancho is SHOCKED. They all chant Kiss! Kiss! but Pancho has had quite enough for now but  allows Dave to give Lupita peck on the cheek.

Susana and Sebas are playing in the pool. Axel goes to change and join them as Crisanta watches from above.

Blanca speaks about love being at the base of so many things.  Julieta talks about her first novio being in primary school. She is happy for Dave.  Pancho thinks it is a little  early for Dave and Lupita to be novios. Imelda agrees with him but it has become the custom to break the rules in her building. Robert says it is all innocent. Ari reminds Imelda that the heart never lies, right? She starts to get nasty and he walks away.  Dani congratulates Gabriel on his first event. Lupita says goodbye to  Julieta and Robert her "in laws". Dave is really serious about Lupita. He is talking about a wedding.

Back at home, Lupita is all upset that Temo is leaving.  She will miss him. Julio is crying and wishes Temo good luck.  Crisanta is back and Temo tells her that he is moving back to Toluca. He leaves for the bus station with Pancho.

Blanca talks about the importance of the first communion. She wants to read them a reflection from her journal. "Families are made from imperfections. That is what is beautiful about them.  True family accepts you just as you are. They forget your defects. After it all, the family is all together "con unión" (united) just like a "communion". A family who knows how to love has a solution for everything." Blanca sits next to Imelda and put her arms around her. Dave runs to Fernando and hugs him.

There was just so much to like in this one with plenty of good-hearted Blanca. The best sight of the night was Julieta with the potato slices adhered to her temples.

Crisanta "the ghost" was a hoot.

Audifaz sure got a surprise when he tried to put the moves on Aura. It served the silly old goat right.

Thank you, Jarifa! An excellent recap and surely the fastest on record.

Julieta with the potato slices was very funny, but the highlight for me was Dave and Lupita. Novios? Good grief! I feel for poor Pancho, what next for the poor guy?

Well, the answer to that came immediately: "They all chant Kiss! Kiss!"

And now Dave is thinking about the wedding. I suppose Gabriel could plan it.

:-)     :-)     :-)

Jarifa, extraordinary. You put the perfect finishing touches on a show that touched my heart. Thank you for translating what Blanca read from her journal. My eyes misted. Wow.

“Blanca just beams”, “sad sack "poor me" song and dance act” and “He won't let any rotten villain separate them” were splendid.

The sweet, the sour and the bitter.

There were several wonderful sweet scenes. Dave asking Lupita to be his novia (much to Pancho’s chagrin). "Gabriel could plan" the wedding - excellent andy.

“Yes, she has potato slices adhering to her temples. Robert laughs. She tells him not to laugh”. I laughed too - heartily. “Dave loves it so Blanca sets it to a cow. Julieta gives up” loved these.

I think my favorite was” Fernando stands with Dave's "Oppa" parents who make sure to give Fernando his due”. I am so happy he will now be part of the family! Wouldn’t it be great if he were marry into the family? Granted, it would be complicated but I’m sad he is alone. There doesn’t appear to be anyone available though. I’d say Polita but I suspect she and Audi will reunite. Blech.

“Pancho admits that he also needs a good friend”. So glad these two stopped their bickering. And truth be told, it was Robert who uncharacteristically sabatoged this potential friendship initially with his jealousy. Happy that is behind them.

“Blanca believes that life puts obstacles in our way to make us stronger”. Amen.

The sour. “At Polita's she is so pleased that with her last paycheck she was able to buy enough ham to give Ari a double portion”. While food at family functions is plentiful, I’ve always felt there was an undercurrent of real borderline poverty. Unless there is a full Tupperware, stomachs are growling. Very unsettling.

“She asks if she is just supposed to shut up”. Yes, yes! As low as Imelda has sunk, she hasn’t hit rock bottom. Bitter? Party of one. I can barely stand to look at her. What she did to Temo was despicable.

“Linda looks less than impressed”. If only I cared!  And Axel’s tears. Color me unaffected.

I was really hoping Aura would slap Audi too. Am I a terrible person??

I'm in a happy place this morning thanks to you Jarifa. Thank you!

Diana

Amazing after so much strife, stress and unpleasantness, that this episode could end on a positive note. Haven't seen it, but your translation of Blanca's speech about a family being "con union" just like "communion" was very important. And a reminder of what this story is all about---people working out their differences with love as befits a family. As your title put it "Blanca really does know best". Not so sure about those potato slices though!

Thanks Jarifa. Christmas is getting closer. I kept thinking it was still weeks away but no! it's just around the corner. Glad that you've got your cookies all made.

Off to babysit today. Still sneezing and blowing my nose, but since I got this cold from li'l Will I assume he's immune to it now.

Thank you for your recap, Jarifa. I am looking forward to watching over lunch!

I think this is a typo? "Robert says no but she has to realize that everyone in the family doesn't think about things in the sane way that she does?"

Watching the potato slices cure will be fun. I wonder if it works? I remember Matilda, in Amor Real, wearing olive(?) leaves on her temples for headache pain.

Imelda calls "immoral" and "aberration" on others, while she thinks kicking her husband out, faking his death, and putting her family thru fifty years of an annual graveside memorial Is okay? People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. She serves as a PSA about the righteousness of some elderly.

Hi Good Morning. I caught a little of this as I was preparing for the next show. I see wooly booger boy Daniel has traded in that Burger King teddy bear for a live dog to carry around.

Kirby, I just laughed out loud. Yes, I guess Gabe has traded up to a live animal (who is really cute).

Beautiful colors on your avatar. Lovely. Hope you stop by more often.

Judy, colds can be tough anytime, especially this time of the year! Hope you feel better. I can't believe Christmas is Tuesday.

doris, I guess Imelda doesn't realize she lives in a glass house...

Diana

doris, yes, it was a typo among many I am sure. ☺️

Today has ended up being the great bake day. Hope to make it back later. . . .

Jarifa - well that typo was just so opposite of what I knew you meant I was LOL. Imelda? Sane? 🤪🤪🤪

Doris: More chaos for the lovebirds ?

Jarifa, thank you.

Imelda is awful. Why is it that some people just become worse instead of better as their days in earth grow dwindle? Life is too short to be judgemental.

Judyb, hope your cold leaves soon. I have caught many bugs in the last eleven years of babysitting. Bugs tend to go around and around in families.
Gabe and his stuffed toy....I might be that old lady with the doll. I have always loved dolls. I am a hugger.

One of my favorite things about this TN is the way they show all that delicious looking food (local dishes, I assume) at the beginning of some scenes. Also, whenever there is a family dinner or event, the spread is beyond awesome ... yummmm!!!

Thanks so much Jarifa! Yes, I guess Blanca does know best! Loved the title.

Has anyone ever heard of this folk rememdy of potato slices? I think Blanca has used that one before on David for something.

Well it just seems that Imelda gets meaner and meaner with each passing day. Well I have a newsflash for Imelda: Jesus LOVES gay people too! How dare she say that Temo shouldn't go to church because he is gay! Good grief, even with the belief that homosexual activity is sinful, you certainly should always be kind and share the gospel with gay people. And you certainly do not ever tell them they can't come to church!

Crisanta playing ghost was so funny. Loved it when Robert exposed her.

It was very sad to see Temo leave. At least Julio was sad to see his brother leave.

Anon @ 11:57, I love the food scenes too. Going to visit for the food would be worth it.

Re: Caray Caray

I just posted this over on Falsa Indentidad, and I thought I'd post it here too. I'm so happy we still have Caray Caray!!!

*******

Heartfelt gratitude to you, Anita, and the Caray rescue squad. I just can’t imagine Caray Caray not being here for all of us. All the recappers and commenters have helped me through several years of telenovelas, and I love reading how everyone reacts to various story lines. It’s a warm and wonderful community.

I haven’t joined in much since I quit recapping, as I watch the shows now in taped bunches, and am always behind. Also, I’m on the west coast, in LA, and it seems like the best time for me to visit Caray is in the afternoon. By then, people back east are already starting dinner and turning on the evening news, and the party is over at Caray and somebody has turned out the lights for the day.

I’m sure there are many other readers like me, behind, so the number of daily commenters probably isn’t a good indicator of how many folks are enjoying each day’s recap. Recapping is fun, but also a ton of work, so a big thank-you to all you recappers!!! And to all of you for being there.

Maggie, thank you. I'm on the west coast in L.A. too!

Yes, recapping is a ton of work; I spend at least two hours working on my recaps when I write them.

I watched this episode during lunch and Julieta wearing the potato slices was a hoot. Oh, the things we do to just get along with family! LOL

Crisanta's ghost was cute, and not going to induce a cardiac arrest in anyone, much less Imelda because she does not have one.

Dave's First Holy Communion party was quite the extravaganza, and the food looked wonderful. Interesting that he was the only child in the ceremony.(?) I was in Catholic School at the time, so all the second grade classes did it at the same time. There were maybe over fifty or more of us?

Update ---> My English conversation student is back from visiting family in Mexico and we had a tutoring session today. I asked her about this "Christian" thing, told her about Los Córcega being Catholic and Audifaz "becoming a Christian."

She said the term "Christian" used by many Protestant groups in Mexico to differentiate themselves from the Catholic church & community, and that these Christian groups/denominations often (not all of them!) believe they are better because they emphasize bible reading and bible study (yes, we have seen Audi doing that) than the Catholic church. I grew up in the Catholic Church here in the U.S., left when I was 25 y/o, and had never once opened a Bible, nor was I ever instructed or encouraged to do so. So that makes sense. She said the term encompasses all types of Protestantism in Mexico and, like here in the U.S., some are more extreme than others.

Hope this helps!

After baking today, I think I will call it quits just go with the kolačky this year. Just have to pack them and deliver them.

Anyway, Hey, if Gabriiel el is still event planning in fifteen years. Why not??? LOL

No, Diana, you are not a terrible person. I like your one more slap for Audifaz idea. A slap would have been the perfect punctuation for that scene.

JudyB, those potato slices or something similar seemed very familiar.Hope you are feeling better soon!

doris, you are so right about the irony of that particular typo. Thanks for the info about somebody wearing leaves of some sort for a headache cure in another novela. It is somethjng I may have to research. Folk cures are always fascinating.

Kirby, yes. Gabriel now has a pound puppy. He is not one of my faves either.

Susanlynn, yes! Imelda just seems to get worse and worse and more ornery all of the time.

Anon, great point about every break being populated with the delicious offerings of Oaxaca.

Cynthia, I loved the ghost scene, too. I like Crisanta. She didn't get into the pranks until Imelda was so nasty to her. She also doesn't have a mean streak like Imelda. I still think she should have let Imelda sit in jail overnight.

Maggie, great to hear from you. I have been around for about the last six years and recapping for about the last three (?) I do not even remember. It is a lot of work but a lot of fun. Thanks for stopping by.

Jarifa, I had to look up kolačky. I have never heard of them, but they look very good on the baking sites I looked on. I am going to do some baking too, hopefully on Sunday, do a bunch of Christmas cookies. I will try to see if I can make some tamales too. I know how to make them but they are a lot of work to do all by myself.

I like the side of Crisanta where she is a good loving mother to Susana and a good loving grandmother. She seems to have a lot of wisdom. I just hope this back and forth fighting with Imelda stops. Imelda does deserve it and worse! Like I said, if they would make Imelda die of a heart attack in the next show, I would not be sad. ;)

Doris, yes, I remember Matilda's mother putting those leaves on her temples and Matilda's. Also, that was interesting information from your Mexican guest.

Cynthia, Yes, tamales are very labor intensive. Christmas cookies sound much more manageable. I made 550 kolačky his year. That is about all I can do on my own and still want to eat any.

Thanks, Jarifa. Great job.

So so glad Audi got rejected. What a hypocrite.

Jarifa...wow..550 ! You are amazing !

In the name of science, I Googled the potatoes and headache remedy and, yes, it is a thing. Some websites claim it is an old irish remedy. The potato slices are held in place with a bandana. Who knew?

Jarifa, you are just AMAZING! I don’t know how you do it. I’m trying to squeeze in my Christmas fun and duties and work full time. Boy, working sure puts a damper on things. ;)

Anyway, Niecie I am very glad that Audi got rejected by Aura. I think he thought he could do a rebound relationship, but he sure got sacked. He didn’t see that coming. I am glad she said she was married and is faithful and loves her husband even if he does not believe the way she does. She takes her marriage seriously I guess. I was not so sure at first, but maybe she really was just trying to show sisterly comfort to Audi at first.

doris, thanks for the research. Who would have known?

Cynthia, I so agree. : ) Now I just have to distribute them to friends and family. That is the fun part.

I am happily on the Linda Table. Not only that but i am the president, vice president, governor and Mayor of the Linda table and avid fan of Gabriel. I might be alone but proudly support.

Sounds good to me!

Cynthia, re Audifaz and Aura, the show led us on a bit. They wanted us to believe, or at least suspect, that something was going on.

I did think so. I guess I fell for the bait, snookered :-)

:-)

andy

Andy: Likes--"They wanted us to believe, or at least suspect, that something was going on.

I did think so. I guess I fell for the bait, snookered :-)"

It sure seemed that there was something going on with the way she touched him smoothing his shirt, etc. Yes, they snookered a bunch of us!
