Falsa Identidad - Capítulo 76 - Parte 1 de 3

The episode opens with Gavino and Piochas driving somewhere in a car. Piochas confesses to Gavino that he's confused by some of Gavino's actions. Gavino tells him "that's why I'm the boss and you're a peon." He explains to Piochas that he hopes by tomorrow Circe will be out of the game and that the Colombians will beg him to move their drugs. "When Diego is fed up with Circe, the Colombians will need someone else to help them at the border, and their only option will be me."

Some of the dancers from Babel, along with Porfirio, assemble at Marlene's. Porfi warns them that Gavino is very dangerous. To go back to Babel would be a death sentence. The dancers realize bitterly that all they have from Babel are their memories. Marlene says they have to continue with their lives. Suddenly, someone comes in to tell them that the police have just discovered the bodies of Emiliano, Camila, and Max Guevara. Most of the dancers fear that Isabel, whom they know as Camila, is dead. However, Porfi assures them that's not the case. He explains why Isabel and the others had to use false names in order to escape from their town. Suddenly a very excited Gabriela calls to announce that she's getting married. Several of the dancers leave to go to Gabi's to congratulate her and enjoy the festivities.

In a long, ugly scene spread out over several segments, Felipa tries to explain to Circe that she loves her and loved her mother. Circe doesn't believe her. She accuses Felipa of killing her mother and of sleeping with Gavino because she wanted to. Felipa angrily dismisses this idea. "Gavino killed my family in front of me, he abused me. I didn't stay for Gavino, I stayed for you. I promised your mother I would do so. I loved Daniela (Circe's mother) . She was the only one who was decent to me. Your father abused me, your mother embraced me. She was the only person for whom I have felt true love. Just as you love Diego, I loved her." But no matter what Felipa says, Circe doesn't believe her.

Felipa remembers an ugly scene of Gavino treating Daniela like dirt (if she doesn't give him a son, he'll throw her to the pigs), and she remembers too helping Daniela to die, thereby ending the suffering her illness has caused. But Circe doesn't see these scenes, and perhaps even if she had, she wouldn't believe what she sees. Felipa says "Everyone thinks I stayed for Gavino. It's easier to accept loving one's rapist than loving another woman. Joselito and I are the only ones who can save you." Circe insists that Felipa leave, she never wants to see her again. She screams "Get out of here" and calls her a sick Indian.

Circe then yells at Flor, who had told Felipa where she could find Circe. Circe tells Flor she will pardon her this time because she has shown herself to be loyal, "but the next time, I'll kill you." She then tells Flor that she needs to find someone they can trust at the border. Circe needs to find out what Diego is doing. He's not answering her calls.

The scene shifts to Deivid's neighborhood. He's joyfully announcing his wedding plans to all the neighbors. Chucho is there, talking with Mara, Gabi's sister.
Suddenly, someone rushes in to ask Deivid whether his buddy was named Emiliano Guevara. When Deivid says yes, the guy tells him that he just heard on the news that the police have found the bodies of Emiliano and his family. Deivid knows that Diego has been using that false name. Gabi is worried, however, that perhaps Diego was responsible for the Guevara deaths. Deivid assures her that Diego and Isabel had nothing to do with the deaths.

Falsa Identidad - Capítulo 76 - Parte 2 de 3

Chucho continues to chat with Mara. Somewhat to my surprise, he tells her that he's attracted to her. She admits that she already knew that. And then in the next breath, he tells her that he needs to leave, he wants to go see Diana and make sure she's OK after what she went through with Augusto. Mara tells him he doesn't need to leave to find Diana, she's already here. Sure enough, we see Nuria and Diana arrive (and Marlene, though I don't think we see her). There's an interesting moment where Diana catches sight of Chucho. Both actors do a great job without saying a word. Mara leaves so that Chucho and Diana can talk.

Diana admits to Chucho that though she didn't want to come, Marlene insisted, but now she's glad to be there. Chucho tells her he missed her.

Everyone seems to have heard about the Guevara bodies. The scene now shifts to the American officials. The apparent boss says to one of the other men that they have to make sure the bodies come back to American soil and then close the case. The other man is astonished. "Close the case? With all the deaths that have occurred?" His boss tells him that the Guevaras had ties to the narcos. The motel incident was connected to that. The couple and their child were probably objects of a vendetta. End of story.

Isabel, too, is listening to the announcement about the Guevaras. She's very pleased that the bodies are going to be given a proper burial. Diego's phone rings. "It's Circe?" asks Isabel. "No," replies Diego, "it's Gavino." Gavino asks Diego whether he's going to pardon the woman who killed his brother. Diego says he'll handle this in his own way. Gavino warns him, "If you don't take care of it, I will."

As soon as Gavino ends his call, Mateo enters and excitedly shows Gavino the new crew of women for Babel.

Porfirio answers a knock at his door. It's Paloma. He invites her in, and she suddenly seems to get cold feet. But he gets her to come in, closes the door, and the two of them start in again as they did the other day. Things heat up so much that Telemundo had to switch to the commercials. After the commercial break, we see the two of them lying very contentedly in bed. "You don't know how much I needed this," Paloma tells Porfi. "Me too," he replies. She continues, "Your scar is so sexy." Whatever.

Meanwhile, Isabel is telling Diego that she wants to help him put Circe in prison. Diego says something about Corona objecting. Isabel makes it clear that Corona has no say in the matter. He's the father of her children, and that's all. True, they did try to get back together, but it didn't work. Diego then tells Isabel that they have to talk seriously. He wants her to stay far away from all this. She tells him that she's not the same young woman who left Alamos. She grabbed the guard's gun, and she would have used it to protect Diego. "I'd kill to protect you," she tells him.

Jose meets with Felipa. He dismisses much of what she says. Circe wants action, not words. He again says that today they will blow up Babel with Gavino et al. inside.

Earlier in the episode, we see Fernanda and Salas go out into the country, get out of the car, and look over the side of a cliff. Only later does it become clear that she's carrying Disgusto's ashes. She says a bunch of appropriately nasty things about him and then tosses the ashes. It looks as if they fall into a garbage dump.

Falsa Identidad - Capítulo 76 - Parte 3 de 3

Fernanda and Salas then return home. Zoraida informs them that the police have found the Guevara bodies. Salas is very surprised. Fernanda admits to him that she told Isabel where the bodies were. Salas is upset with her about this. "You promised you wouldn't tell anyone," he says. Fernanda replies that the Guevaras deserved a decent burial. As things stood before, no one could visit them, no one could cry over them. Salas says rather ominously to Fer, "You don't know what you've done."

As if in response to Salas' words, the American official who was unhappy when his boss instructed him to close the Guevara case talks to someone who seems to be a forensic pathologist, who tells him that the Guevaras had been dead for about six months. Hmm, thinks the unhappy underling, not just missing for six months, but dead. So then they couldn't have been the ones who crossed the border and were involved in the shootout at the hotel. He asks the pathologist for a copy of the report.

Isa and Diego do a good deal of kissing in the car. I kept wondering whether Flor was going to see them.

Porfi tells Zoraida that he has no work. Zoraida is about to leave when Porfi suddenly remembers he has an appointment. He goes to change his clothes. Amanda, being no fool, takes a quick look at Porfi's cellphone while he's out of the room. On the screen is a text from Paloma saying that she too likes being with him.

At Babel, Gavino looks at the new young women who are making some moderately sexy moves. "Very good material," says Gavino the connoisseur. As Gavino is enjoying the "material," José and company arrive. José says, "It's time that the disciple surpasses his teacher." He goes up to two guys guarding a side door and, when they try to direct him to the main entrance, he pulls out two guns and holds one to the head of each of the guards. He orders them to open the door, and they comply. José and the others enter.

Diego finally comes to see Circe. She asks him where he was and tells him that she's found out what he was investigating. "There's no need to lie, Diego. I didn't kill Margot. But if it had been necessary, I would have done it for you. I won't deny that I was there when they killed her." End of episode.

Identidad

thanks so much Juanita!

I think Diego and Isa jumped in the back seat for a little action as well.

I was thinking Marlene didn't make the party because she stayed back to comfort Jim who was being sad.

that was cool, tossing Digusto's ashes on the dump.

looks like they installed poles in Babel, per Gavino's instructions, so they can have multiple pole dancers.

Joselito seems to have made a career out of ruining people's day.

I think I saw últimos capítulos last night.

Telemundo

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

casa cerrado???!!! hiatus from jan 8th?????

why ...

Identidad

This is terrific, Juanita. Beautifully written.

I’m loving all the performances in this telenovela – really stellar. It’s a treat to watch all these fine actors.

Bummer of a dump – people are just throwing their trash down a cliff! At least they picked one particular cliff and aren’t dumping down all of them. But still…

identidad

Thanks very much, deb. It would make sense for Marlene to stay behind to comfort Jim, but since Diana told Chucho that she hadn't wanted to come but Marlene insisted, I assumed that Marlene had come, too. Unless, of course, the "comfort" Marlene wants to offer is, um, quite private. :-)

I don't recall seeing "últimos capítulos" last night, but that wouldn't surprise me, since I think the novela will end on Jan. 21. IIRC, Jugar del Fuego will run for 10 episodes starting on the 22nd.

Identidad

Thanks a million, Juanita, for the fine recap. Above and beyond the call of duty on New Year’s Day!

The one Gavino threatened to throw to the pigs if she didn’t produce a male child was Felipa, rather than Daniela. He said something to the effect that that’s what would happen to her if she produced another female, like “the other one”.

Yep, deb, Isabel convinced Diego, who was a bit surprised, that getting it on in the car would suit her just fine.

So Gavino was serious about not needing any “artsy-fartsy” stuff at Babel. He’s gone straight to a strip club – one that seemed to be doing a brisk business. That business will likely slow down after the bomb! No way Gavino dies that way, but I suspect some people will.

Yep, that US cop is going to keep digging and possibly interfering with Diego and Isa’s happily ever after.

I thought the scene with Felipa and Circe was well acted by both. I really expected Circe to believe her when she bared her soul like that. But no.

The scene with Corona and Paloma (that sounds like a musical duo) was great comic relief. And thanks, Juanita, for letting me know what Amanda saw on the cell phone. I just refuse to jump up off the sofa and get two inches from the screen to read text messages. My TV is not big enough to see them unless I do that. And it drives me nuts when they move the plot along with text messages or tweets.

Gavino gave a rather expansive explanation to Piochas of why he expects to be in charge of all the drug movements once he gets Circe out of the picture. He named a bunch of countries: Colombia, Nicaragua, etc., who produce drugs. But they all have to go through Mexico because of the border with the US. AND the fact that the US population is the one consuming.

Juanita, thanks for the details and the laughs.

She grabbed the guard's gun, and she would have used it to protect Diego. "I'd kill to protect you," she tells him.

Goodness, this is Isabel. Mujer, remember you have two young kids to raise. I dunno, but Isa is taking on some Circe tendencies to me.

Only later does it become clear that she's carrying Disgusto's ashes. She says a bunch of appropriately nasty things about him and then tosses the ashes. It looks as if they fall into a garbage dump. lol!

Many thanks, Maggie, novelera, and Maggie, for your appreciative and very helpful comments.
Maggie, I too have been impressed with the acting in this novela. Not just with the people I'd heard of, but with many who were new to me. I won't be sorry when this novela is over, but I will miss many of these fine actors. Hopefully, I'll see some of them again in other novelas.
novelera, I totally agree with you about the writers depending on people being able to read notes, tweets, etc. I HATE that! As it happened, I did jump out of my seat and got very close to the TV in order to read what was on Porfi's cell. Had I not been recapping, I'm not sure I'd have bothered.
Also, I think you're probably right that Gavino was threatening to throw Felipa rather than Daniela to the pigs, but his threat is somewhat ambiguous. I thought he was talking to Daniela and that "the other one" referred to Circe. Gavino wanted a son, not a daughter like the other one Daniela had given birth to. Thinking about it now, though, I think the woman's appearance was more like Felipa's. Either way, though, Gavino is a turd!
Niecie, I'm glad you mentioned Isa's two kids. She seems to have forgotten them in her attempt to out-Circe Circe. I think Isabel's grabbing the gun and threatening to shoot is supposed to show us how far she has come from being Porfirio's punching bag. For me, though, mostly what it showed was that she has more than a few screws loose.

FALSA IDENTIDAD – MIÉRCOLES

Here’s a brief recap.

Diego doesn’t let Circe off the hook easily regarding Margot and Acevedo, but he ends up convincing her he’s forgiven her.

Amanda is back to full brattiness. She rats on Porfi to her mother about Paloma. But, of course, it’s all her mother’s fault for not making him happy.

Paloma tells Porfi this was fun, but no más.

Babel is now horrible. I don’t know how those pole dancers can even dance to the awful music that’s playing. When Mateo hints to Gavino that clients are complaining, even leaving, he’s told new ones will show up who like this scene better and probably will buy drugs.

So what happened with the bomb? I was sure that’s what Joselito said was going to happen, but it’s just a plain old firefight like we’ve seen a thousand times.

Fernanda tells Salas she knows he’s still upset, but he and Diego are keeping from HER who really killed Eliseo.

I HATE these greenish gray shootouts where you can hardly tell who’s been shot and who’s still alive!

The bald American cop with the ghastly American accent tells his boss he’s staying over in Mexico after having sent the Guevara bodies ahead.

Jim comes to visit Marlene and Diana.

Joselito kills Piochas and then tells Gavino he betrayed him for Circe.

Amanda overhears a conversation between her parents where Porfi says he had his needs and Isa tells him she’s happy for him.

Diego asks Deivid to help him once more and only once – with turning Circe and the Ibarras in.

Joselito has his gun trained on Gavino but Goyri is too big an actor to die this soon. Mateo shoots at Joselito. And Mateo and Gavino escape.

Erick gets away from Babel and comes to tell Marlene and Jim what happened. Jim realizes this mess will somehow end up in his lap because he’s the legal owner of Babel.

Mara tells Gabi she really likes a guy who doesn’t feel the same about her.

Diego tells Chucho to call him padrino (godfather) and he’ll pay for Chucho to finish school.

Gavino bemoans the loss of Babel, the money laundering, drug sales, etc. He says they’ll head for the ranch in Álamos with what remains of his crew.

Joselito is in the interview room with a detective. He kind of admits to being a rascal, but says he’s not guilty of homicide or any of the other things. He says he can prove it.

identidad

novelera, thank you VERY much for this helpful recap.

Yes, Amanda has reverted to her old bratty self. I was amused at the discussion between her and Isabel. When Amanda used the words revolcandose and amante, Isabel seemed to think at first that Amanda didn't really understand what these words meant. Ha!

I'm a little surprised that Circe doesn't pick up on Diego's lack of enthusiasm for her. He often turns his face away when she moves in to kiss him, and his body language and attitude all suggest that he's not in love with her. But she doesn't seem to notice. I guess she's so in love with him that she's blind to his lack of enthusiasm. For his sake, I hope her blindness continues, but somehow I doubt that it will.

Salas asks Fer what will happen if the Guevaras can be traced to Diego and Isabel. Clearly this is part of the reason Salas is so upset that Fer told Isabel where the bodies were. And sure enough, we see Williams (the bald so-called American) putting the pieces of the puzzle together. I was amused at your mentioning his "ghastly American accent." Actually, I didn't think it was so bad. I'd reserve "ghastly" for the Spanish of Senator Cummings in Al otro lado del muro. I was more bothered by the fact that the actor playing Williams has a definite Spanish accent when he speaks English. He's making an effort to sound like an American when he speaks Spanish, but he doesn't succeed in sounding like an American when he speaks English.

What are we to make of Paloma's telling Porfirio that she has a career and an education, while he is just...Porfirio. I rather enjoyed Porfi's response: "No, I am el Corona...Palomita."

I realize that universities in Mexico are quite inexpensive compared to those in the US, but I was still surprised that Diego was able to offer to pay for Chucho's studies. I liked the fact that Diego said he was doing this to pay Chucho back for all the problems Diego had caused him (getting him fired, etc.). And I enjoyed Diego's telling Chucho that when he (Chucho) became President, he could pay Diego back.

So Joselito tells the official that he's not guilty of killing Eliseo and he can prove it. I wonder how he'll manage that without selling out Circe.

identidad

I could be wrong, Juanita, but I think Chucho is finishing high school, not enrolled in college. Not sure about how that works financially in Mexico. But I sort of remember him saying he'd quit school, which I interpreted as secondary school, in order to help support his brothers and sisters.

Identidad

that was a excellent little recap novelera!

and thanks Juanita for embellishing!

interesting that Erick helped Ramona get away through a service entrance.

Deivid and Gaby are so happy, so when Diego asks for his help, for-the-last-time, why does the word doom come to mind.

Chucho needs to skip the therapy sisters and see the jewel on his doorstep.

Felipe is definitely auditioning for the next season of Sin Senos, what else can she add?

Isabel has a way of smiling when talking to people that doesn't always mean she's happy about what they said, but it did seem that she was glad to be off the hook with Porfi.

I can see Amanda's turmoil trapped at home living in the shadow of her parents working through some serious issues, she needs a life of her own, maybe Edgar who is wise before his age can help.

TELEMUNDO...

"La Sultana" and "Falsa Identidad" are both in últimos capítulos.

("La Sultana", my interpretation from wiki is that we are watching the first season of 2)

"La Reina del Sur 2" is rumored to have finished filming after 6 months in Colombia.

"El Barón", I see María Elisa Camargo in the cast (Adela Morales in "Bajo el mismo cielo") also Kristina Lilley, a villian from my first, "Dame Chocolate".

Identidad

Thanks, Novelera.

Joselito has his gun trained on Gavino but Goyri is too big an actor to die this soon. Mateo shoots at Joselito. And Mateo and Gavino escape.

Yep, with their conversation going on and on, you knew Joselito would get interrupted before firing. I like that Joselito didn’t make excuses for stabbing Gavino in the back, instead saying something like, “nothing personal, it was time for you to step aside and I want Circe.” I thought Joselito might’ve griped that Gavino hadn't treated him right, but he didn’t.

Poor Piochas. So loyal, never promoted, and it ends here for him.

Juanita, Salas is the smartest one in this TN, but nobody's heeded his advice lately. Oh well, at least he has Fer.

Deb, ITA Isa is glad to be off the hook with Porfi.

identidad

deb, great comments! I too felt a shudder at Diego's for-the-last-time request to Deivid. And yes, yes, yes, Chucho, forget the "therapy sisters"!

Like Niecie in MD, I agree with your noting that Isabel was "glad to be off the hook with Porfi."

I burst out laughing at your suggestion that Felipa is auditioning for the next season of Sin Senos.
