Gabriela gets out of the detention facility. But Salas warns she could still be deported later. And Deivid doesn't stay around to make sure this doesn't happen!
Diego and Deivid leave for Sonora and then the border crossing. Diego shows off how well the RV is set up, with food, etc., to make them look like regular tourists. [Diego's plan has me confused. It sounds like they plan to cross as tourists or else why all the RV subterfuge. Can Mexican citizens do that?]
Nuria passes out at Babel and then gets hostile with Marlene, Jim, and Erick when they want to take her to the hospital. Again, don't care.
Fernanda gives Isabel the info about where the Guevara are buried, but asks her to hold off until Diego is safe.
Diego hints to his mother where he and Circe are going by using a European Spanish accent to say something to her.
Porfirio is well enough recovered to be interested in bedding Isabel, who's not ready for that. Mateo thinks donating the liver portion means he has the right to have Porfi return to the house in Sonora.
Disgusto throws Eliseo AND Fernanda under the bus for having lied about Diego, the criminal, being dead. Big gasps by those in the courtroom. This part of Gavino's trial was not televised.
Thanks VERY much, novelera, for this very helpful list of important events in last night's episode. You mentioned stuff I had missed, such as Diego's using a European Spanish accent to hint to his mother where he and Circe may be headed. Also, I was not aware that Disgusto's throwing Fernanda and Eliseo (and Diego) under the bus was not televised. Never has Disgusto deserved our name for him more than now. And I guess if that part of Disgusto's testimony wasn't televised, neither was Gavino's last-minute (?) decision to incriminate Circe as the right-hand and former lover of José.
I was pleased to see that Porfirio finally added that it wasn't just Isabel who didn't want to return to the house in Alamos; he too didn't want to go back there because of what Mateo did to Porfirio's mother. If I'm not mistaken, Ricas overheard at least part of the nasty things Mateo said about Isabel. (No more pictures for you, grandpa.)
I regret that Fernanda gave Isabel the location of the Guevara bodies. Yes, she told Isabel to do nothing until Diego and Circe were out of the country, and yes, she told Isabel that Eliseo's reputation and Diego's life were now in her hands, but I still worry that Isabel will do something highminded and stupid.
Ugh, how much longer do we have to put up with Nuria? I was hoping we had seen the last of her when Jim spotted her on the floor.
Thank you both. I tend to wait until I see something posted before I comment--my memory bank recall feature is not functioning at speed any more.
Juanita, I'm with you on Isa not waiting and doing something stupid, like going to the burial site by herself and getting into some trouble--broken down car, desert, bad guys, in high heels, no telling what else. She plays the high and mighty, mighty well.
I'm also with you on Nuria--don't know what Erick sees in her--is he blind to the up and down effect of the pep pills?
Oh, and Fernanda tells Isa that the Diego-Circe getaway is a bad idea and after getting to know Isa, she admits Isa made Diego a better man--wanting to do an honest day's work (hmmm, she must NOT know about the drug-running yet, but boy will she). She says she knows Diego still loves her and Isa loves him, but it's hard to see how that is all going to work out.
Disgusto is pond-scum. But, of course, he's saving his own neck, although the Fernanda thing was thrown in gratis. He's green, smelly pond-scum
Novelera, Juanita, and Anita, thanks for the highlights.
Unbelievable that Dievid would take off with Diego while Gabi the love of his life is in jeopardy. What if she's deported by the time he returns?
Mateo is the worst and deserves the worst. But still it was very very awkward for Porfirio to kick out papa bear after he just donated his liver tissue. I worry about what Mateo will do to Isa even more now.
Gavino so enjoyed testifying that his misguided daughter is in league with that dirty narco Joselito. Would love to see those two hatebirds on trial together. Really surprised the writers have benched Joselito for so long. Say what you will, he's got (anti-)charisma.
Niecie: Did I just see Sick Gavino throwing his own kid under the bus ?
I'm dreading Isa might NOT be long for this world.
Recappers - I want you to know I've been lurking, which may be the 8th deadly sin. I've been following along, but often days after you posted. There are more people reading than commenting, I'm sure, so take heart! I've had an awful time with all the slang in this show (and the bleeped words) and need your recaps to help me out. And they're such fun, the comments too.
I've been loving this show - it's such a high-quality production with such splendid performances, plotting and writing. My only gripe is the money laundering operation which features washing machines - ha!
At the same time, I've been watching Que Bonito Amor, which is re-running during the daytime. It's done in the traditional melodramatic style, and the contrast with the realism of Indentidad is fascinating to contemplate.
I just wrote Melinama a love letter - what she's done for all of us is beyond amazing. Though I used to recap, health issues have kept me from participating much. I wish I could rush in and save Caray... it's been so wonderful, helping with the the novelas, natch, but mainly because of the remarkable people I've "met" here. You all rock!!
I haven't read this latest recap because I haven't seen the episode yet, but thank you in advance!!!
I don't pretend to have understood everything in last night's episode, and I didn't take time to go back over anything. However, since no one else has put up an account dealing with the episode, I thought I'd list some things:
Marlene and Paloma want Nuria to see a doctor, but Nuria says no. Later, Paloma denies to Marlene that she knows anything more about Nuria's problem. Eventually, though, Marlene's reminding her that all the dancers at Babel are a team and support each other convinces Paloma to spill. She makes Marlene swear that she won't tell anyone and informs her that Nuria is addicted to methamphetamines.
Next scene: Nuria going to some sleazy place to get more drugs. She doesn't have all the money she owes the guy who supplies her, but he agrees to take partial payment THIS TIME but not again.
Gabi tells her sister that it's likely Gabi will eventually be deported, so she has decided to go back to her original plan, which is to go to the United States. [Yeah, sure, lots of luck!] Her sister asks about Deivid. Gabi says Deivid is Mexican, so he has no problem in Mexico, and he has a business here. She doesn't want to say anything to him and risk things for her and her sister.
Isa shows Marlene a piece of paper with the location of the Guevara bodies. She wants Marlene to accompany her on her fool's errand.
The verdict in the Gavino case is announced: no convincing proof of any of the charges, hence he's free. The judge says something about how in Mexico, you're innocent until proven guilty. That's not what I've seen, either in novelas or in documentaries.
Isa and Circe wish each other well, and Isa leaves. Ramona then tells Circe to come look at the TV. Circe is dumbfounded and outraged. She says to Ramona, "Do you know how much money I gave to the judge to make sure Gavino stayed in prison?" I think she vows vengeance.
Diana tells Zoraida that she can't stop thinking about Chucho. Zoraida tells her that's the way it is with first loves, but there will be others.
Chucho seems happy back in his pueblo, but his mother tells him he can't have his head in one place, his heart in another, and his body elsewhere.
Gavino says he wants to deal with all the rats who betrayed him. His lawyer warns him not to do anything obvious. Gavino assures him he's an expert at being discreet.
Salas informs Fernanda that Gavino is free and worse. Augusto has said that Diego is not dead and he accused Fernanda and Eliseo of corruption. Fernanda asks whether this means she'll go to prison.
Ricas pleads with Mateo not to leave (!). Mateo blames Isabel for everything. Even that doesn't seem to change what's left of Ricas' mind. Mateo reminds Isa that he and she have a deal--if you talk, I will too. Porfi wants to know what this deal is. Isa says she has no idea what Mateo is talking about, although later, when she's alone with Porfi, she tells him.
Lourdes has tracked down one of the other women victimized by Mateo. But the woman, Lucia, doesn't want to get involved in Lourdes' plan. She's afraid of Mateo.
Circe phones Diego and tells him about Gavino. She wants to move her merca away from Babel, and she wants Diego to return at once, so they can leave immediately for Spain. He tells her he's about to arrive at the border. He'll deliver the merca and then return. He then tells Deivid there's a change of plans. He'll hand over the merca to the Colombians and then he and Deivid will go to Sonora and kill Gavino.
Piochas, Mateo, and others kidnap Ramona. Apparently they want to use her to get to Circe.
José calls Circe from Costa Rica and tells her the two of them are tied together. They can act together to kill Gavino.
Thanks so much for the very complete description of last night’s darkening story, Juanita.
I know he’s supposed to be playing a villain, but the actor playing Disgusto drives me nuts. Unlike Gavino, who shows flashes of humor, he’s stone faced at all times. I dislike every scene he’s in. I did enjoy Gavino’s disdain for him and his saying that he has no intention of helping him “get” Fernanda or Marlene.
Well, I think it was Anita who predicted that Isa would jump the gun on the address Fernanda gave her and screw everything up.
And Mr. Impulsive, Diego, has decided to return to Sonora and bump off a narco who will have wall to wall thugs before you can say “bloodbath”.
I have zero confidence in Ramona’s sticking by her niece. Ramona is always looking out for Ramona.
Novelera, I too liked that Gavino has no interest in helping Disgusto get Fer and Marlene.
Sigh. Diego thankfully has never killed anyone, and now he's going to take out Gavino? Run Deivid run.
Maggie, I hope you comment again.
Just a quick reminder that Falsa Identidad will run for two hours tonight (Monday, Dec. 17): 9 PM to 11 PM.
Oh I had completely forgotten! Thanks for the reminder, Juanita!
Oh and I just noticed that I forgot to label my previous post as "Identidad" RATS!
