Mi marido tiene más familia Monday 1/21/19 Capítulo 91 Robert is Going to Africa--OR--Blanca is Coming Home

Dani tells Gabriel that she has  decided she is going to go stay at her parents' house for  a while so she can be there when Grecia starts her father's treatment.   She promises to stay on bed rest. She doesn't want to leave Gabriel alone. Gabriel says he is an adult and doesn't mind being alone and anyway Nonno and Guido are there. Gabriel is going to buy Dani some cajeta (caramel).

Guido is all excited for Nonno because besides having a business that promises to be a success, he has found love. Nonno is pensive and has a bad feeling that the widows are going to meet and are going to want to cook him in a pot. Guido offers to help him out. With his angelic face, the widows are sure to believe whatever he tells them.  Gabriel comes in and Nonno  notices how red his face its. Gabriel blames it on continual stress and now there is a serious issue with his father-in-law. Nonno decides to go with Gabriel and they leave. Guido has a phone call from an employee called Luigi who has initiated the changes to the articles of association/incorporation of Nonno's corporate empire.  He tells Guido that as soon as he signs the new articles, Guido will be the majority shareholder of all of the Mussi businesses.   Guido assures Luigi that Nonno will never know because he will be busy being entertained by his two loves.

Axel tells Susana that he even though likes his job at the hospital,  he needs some new challenges. His father invited him to come work in Africa but he is not convinced and asks for his "mom's" advice.  She suggests he come work with her until Julieta comes back. She could teach him everything about administration that she knows. He thinks that that sounds like fun but wouldn't it bother her working with her son.  Not at all. She would love seeing him all of the time.

Guido thanks Dani for being concerned about him. That is something his parents never did. He was very sickly from the time he was born. He couldn't go out a lot. He would get sick if they opened a window.  His parents blamed him for his illnesses. His father said he was like a flower nobody could touch. So, he spent all of his childhood within the four walls of his room. The only one who treated him differently was Nonno who even taught him how to ride a bike.  After his parents died in an accident, Nonno became his real father and gave him the strength to change his life. Dani tells him how strange it was for her growing up in her own family.  She was born the same day that her brother went missing and she always had the feeling that it was her fault.   Guido says he would kill to keep this new world he is living in now.

Ari and Temo have problems with the same old bullies in the classroom before Grecia arrives led by Zack.  Ari says he is just looking for attention. Zack says he is nobody to tell him he is looking for attention. Grecia arrives and says she can and is saying he is asking for attention. She introduces herself as their new psychology teacher. She is there to help them all grow and understand. Our mind can betray us and then there is a surge of violence. She asks Zack if he is jealous of Ari and Temo being happy because he also wants to be.  Should she go on or start class? They all agree to start class.

Nonno admits that this might not be the best moment but he wants to tell Gabriel about his will.  He has made Gabriel his executor. Gabriel doesn't see that as necessarily fair. What about his uncle Filippo and Guido? Nonno assures him that they are set for life but Gabriel has three motives to keep him going: his triplets. He is also going to preserve the Mussi name. Guido, of course, overhears this and thinks he would kill to keep this new world he is living in now.

The breakfast at Blanca's starts calmly enough with Pancho cooking for everyone in the kitchen. Gabriel arrives with Dani announcing that she is going to stay fo a while.   Pancho tells Polita in the kitchen that  Ari and Temo are together as a couple.  Audifaz overhears and he and and Imelda go crazy.  Eugenio asks everyone to calm down. Audi blames Polita. Gabriel says love is love. Dani asks Audi why he is so afraid. Imelda tells her not to get involved and that she will not tolerate a circus in her building. She blames Polita for the immorality of her son. Polita says they are doing nothing immoral. Imelda does not agree saying that she is providing a bad example to little Arqui who will grow up with twisted ideas.  Pancho will not allow her to disparage Temo. He knows his twins  will grow up happily with Temo by their side aware that they are free to love who they want. Audi screams he will never agree. Gabriel reminds them all we are in a new century and have to advance.

Guido talks again to his Luigi. He daydreams thinking of preparing food for Dani, Nonni and Gabriel and how Dani  asks what his secret is to make his food so delicious. He says the end is near.  Luigi brings Guido back to reality assuring him  that he will be able to deliver all of Nonno's shares . Things are going as planned.  Guido asks  when he will be able to leave for Miami.  The man tells  Guido his "boss" he will be leaving as soon as he is done supervising Nonno's other businesses. Guido tells Luigi is sending him some of their "special" mezcal to the restaurant  He is to sell it  all. The man tells him that in order to maximize profits he hired some undocumented workers. Guido wants him in Miami and he doesn't want any problems. Being cheap could end up being expensive. Luigi insists he has it all under control as he sits with a cocktail on the other end in a restaurant kitchen somewhere.

At work,  Susana introduces Axel to Catalina as their new collaborator. Axel addresses Susana as boss but quickly corrects himself and uses "Máster Susana". Catalina smiles.

Dani has a video call with Robert.  After some  small talk, Dani asks when they are coming home. Robert says that Vicente offered him a really great deal with Doctors Without Borders  in Africa and they have decided to go. There is not time to make a trip to Mexico. He won't be there for the triplets' birth but  promises to meet his little nephew and nieces soon.  He sends kisses and greetings to all.

Axel feels strange not being at the hospital but he is there to learn all he can. He hopes his mother won't have problems and be accused of nepotism. She tells him not to worry because she will expect at  least triple the work from him. He smiles. Pancho arrives to finalize the wedding plans.

Pancho arrives at Susanas office. Axel wishes Susana and Pancho good luck on their pre-marriage talks and leaves the office. Susana and Pancho get into discussing where to live: her place or his? They each want their own homes as THE home.  They could go and get  a new place of their own. Pancho would like her to let him find a house fo all of them. She agrees to TRY to live with him and all of the kids in his apartment for now. It will be an adventure.

Guido tells Gabriel he is looking very tired. He needs to take care of himself for Dani and the triplets.
Gabriel makes a point of telling  Guido that Nonno named him executor of his will. Guido feigns happiness and says that will be  a big job dividing everything up between all of the other heirs.  Gabriel down plays it saying now all he wants  is to just concentrate on the triplets and work.

Guido is doing a demonstration for one of the distillery employees named Gil.  He opens a bottle, pours some of the liquor out and adds water to fill up the bottle again.  The bottle is then resealed. He needs him to do the same thing with the rest of the bottles. By watering down the mezcal, they will be doubling their money.  The worker is afraid they will be caught. Guido is not worried because those bottles will be sold far away from here, so who would know they were tampered with?

Daniela has news for Eugenio. Robert, Julieta and Blanquita are going to Africa for a while. Dave will be coming home with Blanca. Eugenio is upset because he will have to tell Blanca about his disease.

Pancho and Susana are at their final Pre-Cana class at the church. The priest says they are made for each other! They are overjoyed.

Ari is ready to take his driver's licence test after his"super"classes with his aunt Blanca. He asks Temo to come with him. he will. Their first date as novios should be something great . . .

The priest tells Pancho and Susana that their wedding is scheduled to take  place on "Santo domingo"  (a church holiday at the church which is Santo Domingo de Guzmán.) Pancho and Susana are very excited. Crisanta cannot wait to help with the decorations. Susana reminds her that later she needs to go with her and Grecia for her dress fitting. No,  Pancho is no allowed to come.  As they are talking Imelda comes into the church on the arm of Ignacio making snide comments about dark creatures being in the church. Crisanta reminds her  she is an angel.  Susana asks what brings Imelda to the church. Imelda says a date. Nonno almost walks in on them and then sees that his two girlfriends know each other.  Crisanta says if Imelda is there for a date,  it must be a BLIND date and the insults fly.  Nonno calls Imelda on his cell phone and tells her he has to cancel because of a problem with a runaway burro at the distillery.

At the wedding dress fitting, everyone sees Susana's dress and we see their happy reactions, but we do not see Susana in the dress.

Linda and Gabriel change Pancho's look for the wedding with the kids watching the process. His hair is trimmed and styled. Yes, we get to see what he looks like all cleaned up.

Imelda and Tulio are up to no good. Imelda tells Audifaz that she wants Polita out of her building. Audi says she lives there with her sons. She reminds him that they have to think about little Arqui. Imelda says that is exactly what she is doing because she doesn't want to see him "changed".  Tulio has an alternate albeit drastic idea. It could be the best thing. They should take Polita  to court and fight for custody of Arqui.

When he is all styled, Pancho asks how he looks. Everyone likes it. Gabriel says he looks handsome almost like a Mussi.  Pancho wonders if Susana will like his new look. They all say YES!

Audi is not sure about taking custody of Arqui from Polita because of how it would make her suffer. Imelda and Tulio keep pounding away insisting that  removing Arqui from that home is the only way to save him from being influenced by Ari. Imelda knows it is extreme but she is not going to allow her other grandson to end up like Ari. Arqui should live with them.

Polita and Ari talk. She is happy for him and Temo. She looks a little sad and he asks if she is okay. She says she is. All that matters is that he and Arqui are well.

At the distillery, Gil tells Guido that the shipment is ready to go. Guido says with the mezcal they saved they will be able to double their production. Gil thinks it is going to be hard to keep this a secret from Massimo. The workers are uneasy. Guido reminds them that they are being paid to keep their mouths shut.  He can talk when he has his own distillery. Guido tells him to take the boxes to shipping. Gil asks if they are for Mr. Gabriel's event. Guido says nothing but mocks Gil when he leaves the room.

Later, Guido is on the internet as he is seated on his bed.  He is reading the description of a poison that is common but sufficiently effective. He gets up, locks the door to his room, finds a key hidden behind a picture frame, opens a locked box and adds a packet to other packets and bottles in the box. After closing and locking the box,  he hides the key back behind the picture frame.

Tulio and Imelda pay Polita a visit and give her  an ultimatum. Either stop covering up for and supporting Ari's lifestyle,  or lose Arqui.  Polita swears she will never abandon either of  her sons. Tulio says no matter what, they are going for custody of Arqui. Imelda tells Polita to find somewhere else to live.

Gabriel tells Dani how Nonno has made him the executor of his will.  Dani thinks it is a little strange. Gabriel says all that he needs to do is make sure that all of Nonnos's wishes are followed as indicated and that everything is distributed fairly among the heirs. Dani says okay. It is just that she does not like to think about death.  Gabriel says they should focus on their happiness they have right now. Team Osos forever!

The driving examiner tells Ari that he made a lot of errors. Ari asks when he can take the test again.  She tells him he won't need to because she noted that he practiced and was responsible so she is passing him. He just needs to wait for her to get his license. Ari and Temo are already planning a real first date maybe with Susana's car.

Guido is the bearer of romantic messages "supposedly" written by Massimo's hand for both Crisanta and Imelda. They are both so flattered by his sweet thoughts.

Dani is concerned about Gabriel. She asks if he is okay. He doesn't know. He is just hotter than usual but he is just so overjoyed with the thought of the triplets, he cannot even sleep. He has good news. He has saved all of the money they are going to need to cover the expense of the three births.

Susana's bachelorette party is at Blanca's. Crisanta doesn't have to worry about Imelda because she is out on a date. It is game time!

The bachelor party is at Pancho's. Gabriel is all excited  to present to them the Mussi mezcal:"Mezcal di amore."(if they are eighteen and over, of course.)  Guido says tonight is a  night to remember.

Imelda and Massimo are out at dinner. She goes on how beautiful the letter was that he sent her. He asks what letter. She says the one he sent her. he thinks back at Guido offering to help him out.  Now he remembers! She is so impressed. Imelda reminds him they have been gong out for several months.  She wants them to be novios. He agrees. They have their first kiss.

Luigi calls Guido from a restaurant kitchen again with good news. Everything turned out perfectly. Guido now owns Nonno's majority shares.

The parties go on. Dani suddenly has a strong contraction.

Comments:
Well, we had another cut and paste of two episodes tonight. Too bad.

Just when I thought Imelda could not get anymore obnoxious, she and Tulio had to threaten Polita with throwing her out and taking Arqui. Audifaz is just a waste of skin.

Tulio needs to put on a pair of socks with his suits. He is too old for that style.

Yay! Blanca and Dave are coming back! Maybe Blanca will be able to rein in Imelda.

No more wondering about what is happening to Gabriel after seeing Guido's stash of poison.

Jarifa, just wonderful.

"Audifaz is just a waste of skin" was inspired. "Santo domingo" (a church holiday at the church which is Santo Domingo de Guzmán" - thank you.

“Guido says he would kill to keep this new world he is living in now”. Indeed. And that is why we are so afraid.

“Nonno is pensive and has a bad feeling that the widows are going to meet and are going to want to cook him in a pot” made me laugh. Dude, you have NO idea. Run for the hills, run for your life.

“Tulio has an alternate albeit drastic idea… They should take Polita to court and fight for custody of Arqui”. You finally speak Tulio and that’s what you have to say? Shut. Up.

"Tulio needs to put on a pair of socks with his suits. He is too old for that style" was perfect.

“Imelda tells Polita to find somewhere else to live”. One of the worst things she has ever done. Without heart or soul.

I've sat through many dark TNs over the years, and Gabi's poisoning is getting more difficult to watch each day. This was a magical couple and after all their trials and tribulations, they deserve a happy ending. I realize this is fantasy and I don't mind serious storylines, but this has me unnerved.

Happy Blanca is on her way back. And Dave.

I'd be much more excited about the wedding but Dani and Gabi and Polita's situations are making this barely bearable.

Ordinarily, I'd be upset at the slicing and dicing but if it spares us a few minutes of Guido screen time, no complaints.

Jarifa, thank you for your time and effort. Superb summary once again.

Diana

Thanks so much Jarifa. Always love the cultural information, even though the direction the plot is currently going makes me very uncomfortable. Lots of skullduggery and lots of preaching. Not much fun. But love your recaps and love the patio.

I imagine you're having the same brutal cold and wind that we are. But our streets are clear and that's a blessing. Stay warm and dry if you can today Patio!

Thank you for your recap, Jatifa. Good to know ahead of time that it is Imelda heavy so I won't waste 45 minutes FFWDing thru this episode.

Caray! If Ari is gay while growing up in a heterosexual home, why do Imelda & Co. think Arqui become gay under the influence of Ari??? #bornthisway Oh, never mind. Narrow minds. This plot turn is nauseating, especially because Poli does not have the money to hire a lawyer.

Thanks for stopping by the patio this a.m.!

Diana, I, for once, was happy that it was a “two in one” so we were spared some of Audifaz’s and Imelda’s ravings. Tulio is another chip off tha old block aka Imelda. It looks like Eugenio was the only son who ended up being okay. ITA that Guido is a very twisty villain but very “Osorio” imho. It looks like Luigi Is another crooked character. How long until Nonno finds out about Guido’s underhanded dealings?

Yes! “Skullduggery” is the word! Yes, it is cold but we could be getting some freezing precipitation here later today so I plan to be out and about earlier rather than later. I am excited though we are coming up on the end of January which means only five more weeks of possible arctic temps and feet of snow around here if the winter runs true to form.

doris, your comment about Ari remaining gay growing up in a hetero home but somehow the gay rubbing off on Arqui is spot on. It makes one’s head spin! Also, the lack of money putting people under the power of others is perhaps my most disliked telenovela theme because it is so true to life. Polita is barely making it now with deadbeat Audi. I wonder if she will ever see a support check.

Time to put on some café and get going.

JudyB, the second part of the post was for you. ❄️🤔🌨

Oooh, "skullduggery". Great word Judy an so true!

"Imelda heavy" had me chuckling doris.

I meant to mention the flashback to years ago where they were celebrating Dani's birthday and Imelda strode in and shut the party down. I can't imagine never being able to celebrate your birthday. This family is so resilient - Robert and Dani and particular. I love that Dani and Robert are so close, never having grown up together. The call of the blood works in many ways, doesn't it??

Diana

Just thinking about how this telenovela has taken a dark, wacked out turn in the past couple weeks, I keep thinking that it has shades of Sueño de Horror....Amor, another Osorio production that I dropped quickly. Are these type plots more or less his signature style? (Like Mejía's is complete circos?)

Thanks, Jarifa. I'm in awe of your clear coverage of this crazy plotting.

Nonno is pensive and has a bad feeling that the widows are going to meet and are going to want to cook him in a pot.

Nonno, that is precisely what I’m hoping for! Actually I'm losing hope that Imelda will join in with Crisanta. She's become so cruel to even talk about taking Polita's kid away.

She asks Zack if he is jealous of Ari and Temo being happy because he also wants to be.

Good one, Grecia.

He hopes his mother won't have problems and be accused of nepotism.

Why? Just because she hired her son who has no credentials or experience for what he’s doing there and she never gave anyone already on staff a chance to apply for the job?

Ordinarily, I'd be upset at the slicing and dicing but if it spares us a few minutes of Guido screen time, no complaints.

Diana, my feelings exactly.

Niecie, I guess when it comes down to it, I am ambivalent about the slicing and dicing. I didn't mind the Imelda/Audi scenes that were shortened, bur there were fun scenes that got cut, too. Dare I say, if they didn't slice and dice it would be much more balanced in terms of drama and comedy.

.

Thank you, Jarifa. Great woru, as usual.

My two biggest beanie moments of the night:
Axel deciding just like that, that his job as a doctor has become so unchallenging and mundane, that in his search for some excitement, he turns down the possibility of working in AFRICA and really making a difference ... to become his mommy's assistant in an office! Yes, Catalina is her "official" assistant, but in essence that's what he's going to be doing. Hmmm, okay, writers, sure.

The other thing is - Julieta and Robert went through hell and high water to adopt, lose, and recover Dave, an integral part of the Opas to all of a sudden abandon him and take off to Africa. So they're shipping him back with his Grandma Blanca, so what? From the way it has been shown that his little mind works, he'll soon decide that they didn't really want him any more, they just want their "real" child. Why not send him back to spend the time with his real father who so obviously loves him? They can have Fernando move into the roof apartment where the rest of the family can provide all kinds of support. And Julieta, what? Quits her job? Takes an extended leave when she's just getting started? Has she finished her Master's? To become what? A babysitter in Africa? Or through the "magic" of Osorio, has she also become an indispensable doctor for Doctors Without Borders? Oh, I get it, she switched careers with Axel! And Blanquita? DWOB usually serve in poor, or wartorn countries or disaster areas, not exactly the best environment for a wife and baby.

Ay, Osorio, Osorio ... you're killing me, Smalls!

Thanks for recapping two sliced and diced episodes.
I am not commenting on all the horrors that were indicated in this composite but I do have one question .
Why is Dave not going to Africa with Robert, Julie and Blanquita? Because of school? Or did the writers just drop this ‘development ‘ without any explanation?

Anon 1:20, yes, we are in beanie land. As for Axel, IMO he is too shallow to even think about making a difference.

Anon 1:23, no reason was given at all for Dave coming home and not staying in Africa with the family.

Anon @1:20:

"Julieta and Robert went through hell and high water to adopt, lose, and recover Dave, an integral part of the Opas to all of a sudden abandon him and take off to Africa" and

"Axel deciding just like that, that his job as a doctor has become so unchallenging and mundane, that in his search for some excitement, he turns down the possibility of working in AFRICA and really making a difference ... to become his mommy's assistant in an office".

Great comments!

I completely agree that Robert and Julieta "abandoning" Dave makes no sense at all. They would never, ever do that. But if the actors couldn't continue, Africa was likely the most plausible "out" for them. But not sans Dave. The writers have taken leave of their senses. Obvio :)

Anon @ 1:23, perhaps Dave is being kept "home" to continue the little romance with "Lupita". Who knows? Strange. Really strange.

I have to say though Axel never seemed doctor material. Did we actually ever see him do anything to indicate he is a physician other than to wear a white coat? :) I hope this is a lesson in humility - he is going to have his head handed to him on a silver platter. And I for one, can't wait to see him sweat and see how his mother has killed herself to provide for them.

Diana

Thank you Jarifa. I was working on something else last night while watching the show and didn't catch the part that Dave is coming back with Blanca. I agree it's out of character that Robert and Julieta would send him back. This makes no sense at all.

It also makes no sense that Axel is not happy with his position as a doctor, and orthopedic doctor as well! No doctor just leaves his job like that to go work for his Mama. Now he seems like a "mama's boy."

This whole show has just become ridiculous. I love the scenes with Pancho and Susana and their story. I love the story regarding Daniela having triplets. But the rest of it is just not what I really care to see. Especially the part where Imelda evicting Polita and encouraging Audi to take custody of their little boy.

Don't worry, I will continue to be here as a recapper, as silly as the story is getting. I will adjust my beaning accordingly. ;)

Excellent recap as usual, Jarifa. Geez! Guido is a crook as well as a psycho? Maybe going into labor will save Dani from getting poisoned.

Thank you, Jarifa! Whatever could be behind Univision's slicing and dicing?

OK, so Axel is bored being an orthopedist and is now going to be... an assistant to his mother in a fashion business? This might be a good idea, just in case one of the models trips and breaks her leg. This is such a silly change in the story line that it's beyond nonsensical. It has prompted some interesting comments though, especially Diana's:

"He hopes his mother won't have problems and be accused of nepotism.

Why? Just because she hired her son who has no credentials or experience for what he’s doing there and she never gave anyone already on staff a chance to apply for the job?"

:-)

I can barely recognize this show now with all the darkness, strife and product placement. But is it really all Juan Osorio's fault? I visit a nearby shut-in, usually during the time she and her Home Health Aide watch "Mi corazón es tuyo" (2014) which seems an extremely nice TN. I was a bit surprised to see Osorio was the executive producer. MMTF2 is so different. What happened between season 1 and season 2 of MMTF???

andy

I, too, wonder about the diving and slicing of combined episodes ... then why extend the series? Could it be that the audience response to all the dark shenanigans be so disappointing that now they want to end it sooner? And we still have stiff-as-a-board Gabriel Soto to look forward to. Caray, caray!

Dicing, not diving!

Andy, “Mi corazón es tuyo” also had a twisted storyline where a night club owner was like a mob boss and kept dancers and other employees working for him in line like indentured servants (with proven threats.) The female protagonist Sílvia Navarro was a pole dancer at his club. Adrian Uribe’s character was particularly treated very badly: beat up and locked away for a while. While I enjoyed the novela a lot, it wasn’t all sweetness and light and that particular plot line seemed a little out of place to me. “La costeña” was the brand that was advertised in that one.

The second season of MMTF2 has been and from what I can find keeps being a huge success in Mexico. That is why it was extended. They are about 50 episodes ahead of us. It finishes up on 2/24 with a two hour finale in Mexico. I have no idea what the ratings are for it here in the USA but then it wasn’t created for us as it’s primary audience.

Anon, Uni has taken to slicing and dicing everything the last few years.

Andy - what happened between seasons 1 & 2 is that #1 was a Mexican version of a very successful K-drama, My Husband Got Family. Af far as I can see, Season #2 was written solely by Telerisa's writers, riding the wave of success that MMTF had.

Ah, Jarifa, thanks but you're destroying all my illusions. I only see "Mi corazón es tuyo" for a short while some days and have never seen the ugly parts. I did know about the pole dancing because that was explained to me. OK then, maybe it is all on Juan Osorio.       :-(

doris, maybe Osorio should have brought in some Korean writers.

:-)
