Mi marido tiene más familia Wednesday 1/2/19 Capítulo 78 Robert in Purgatory--OR--Diego Pushes the Envelope

Pancho calls  Polita and brings her up to date on everybody's condition.  He tells  her that the López family is  a lucky family ("una familia con suerte": the name of the  telenovela about Pancho López) and to tell Lupita that everything will be okay.

In his hospital room, Julio explains how Julieta did everything to save him.  Ari says she is an excellent woman. He decides to leave Julio and Temo alone because they must have a lot to talk about. Temo thanks Ari for coming.  Ari says he could not be any other place and leaves.  Julio apologizes to Temo for treating him so badly. Julio realizes that he risked his life for him. Temo has always taken care of him.  Pancho overhears this as he comes into the hospital room and pauses.. Temo says he has always taken care of Julio because he loves him.  They love each other. Julio will take Temo as he is because he is the best brother in the whole wide world. Julio wants him to be happy(feliz como una lombriz--happy as an earthworm) with Ari.  Pancho is happy that the brothers are back together. Love always wins in the end but now the time has come to pray for Robert's wife who saved them both.

Still at the hospital, Robert is crushed. He thinks back on his life with Julieta as he watches Julieta being treated.  He asks the doctor how long  she will  be in a coma.  The doctor tells him it all depends on how long it takes for her brain swelling to subside.  Robert goes in and talks to Julieta about what she means to him. He was lost without any kind of direction before he met her and then she made him feel like he was born again.  They all need her. He begs her not to give up.

Back at Blanca's, Imelda and Eugenio try to get Dave to go to sleep.  He just wants  both of his parents to be home again in their matching pajamas.   Eugenio tells him his mother needs to get strong again.  Imelda says there will be news tomorrow. Dave thinks his dad the doctor can save his mother just like he saved him.

Polita cooks for Frida and Lupita. Audifaz stops by to make sure Lupita knows that her brothers are both okay. Lupita already knows  and has more good news and she tells him.  Julio has accepted Temo being gay.

Eugenio tries to call Robert to talk to Dave but there is no answer. Polita comes to get Dave for some supper and  he goes with her.  Eugenio tells Imelda he is worried because after all of this time, there is no news on how Julieta is doing.  Imelda has a real bad feeling about the whole thing that just won't leave her. Eugenio brings up the missing the Canuto tree. Imelda thinks that Crisanta must have taken it but his "father" will be coming home again or her name is not Imelda.

At Susana's, Sebas cannot sleep. He talks to Crisanta.  He wants to talk to Dave and find out how his mother is but he doesn't dare.  He knows he is going to lose his best friend over this. Crisanta offers nothing but silence.

At the hospital, Robert finally emerges from the intensive care unit and sobs on Blanca's shoulder. He tells them all about Julieta. She is in a coma. Blanca wonders how an accident like this could happen.  Susana decides to tell them all the truth. Axel tries to stop her but she will not be stopped. Susana clearly states that her son Sebas was responsible for the accident. She apologizes as she cries. She will also take responsibility for everything. Robert asks if she will be responsible for his wife's life. Susana feels terrible.  She knows Julieta's life is at risk but Sebas never thought about  the consequences of his actions.  She again says she will pay for any doctors, specialists that Julieta might need. Robert  tells her that that has nothing to do with anything.  Right now, it all depends on how Julieta's body reacts.  They had to put her in a coma so her brain swelling could come down.  He needs everyone's prayers for her. They can only wait.

Crisanta is still sitting with Sebas.  He feels terrible remembering it all. Yes, Crisanta will take him to the hospital tomorrow.  He insists that he needs to see Dave's mother and Dave and apologize.

At Polita's, Dave makes it clear that he doesn't want to see Sebas.  Dave told Sebas not to do it but he went ahead and did it any way.  Lupita hopes Sebas has learned his lesson and the Dave's mother will be fine like her brothers.  Dave is worried if it turns out his mother isn't going to be okay. She is the best mother in the world.

The next morning, Robert just looks at Julieta through the glass window.  He goes not her room to tell her good morning and that they all are waiting for her.

At breakfast, Blanca is talking to the kids.  Dani and Gabriel are there, too. The kids are all going to help Blanca with her video as a way for getting their minds on something else as Daniela has suggested. Gabriel is there to help everybody to keep their spirits up.  He wants to get busy on the vow renewal plans so when Julieta gets out fo the hospital it will all be ready to go. Blanca volunteers to help with the menu. They all have a family hug to send positive energy Julieta's way.

It is breakfast time at Susana's. Sebas doesn't want to eat breakfast. He tells Crisanta, Susana and Axel that he only wants to see Dave.  Susana tells him it is not the right time because his mother is in such critical condition.  Sebas insists he has to.  He needs to say he's sorry. Axel says to call Dave. Sebas whines some more. He wants to see Dave in person.  Susana says maybe later.

Imelda arrives at Crisanta's with Lázaro her driver and accuses shameless Crisanta of having robbed the Canuto tree.  She just knew she had it.

Pancho plays with his sons and their food in the hospital. Julio has a surprise for Temo. He tells Temo to close his eyes. He writes "I am sorry" and "I love you" on Temo's cast on his arm. Ari has come to visit. Diego is next with two handfuls of huge balloons that physically knock Ari to the side as he enters.

Imelda tells Crisanta that the Canuto tree was at the apartment building to be close to everyone. Crisanta finds that interesting because when she left the Canuto tree followed her home. Imelda insists that she is taking the Canuto tree back with her.  Susana has to act as referee.  She tells Imelda that this is a terrible time for the family and that they should be thinking of Julieta right now and trying to have some peace and quiet.  Susana has an idea to solve the Canuto  tree problem.  Susana herself  is going to divide the tree into two pots so it can have two lives and all will be well.  Imelda agrees but will wait right there until she can have her half of the Canuto tree and leave with it.

Back at the hospital, Tavo comforts Catalina  as she sits waiting for Julieta to react somehow. She cannot wait to hear her scold her for calling her "Juli" and for her to get out of that bed and  get her life back.  Tavo predicts that it will be soon because Julieta is a warrior.

An unhappy Hugo arrives with Diana.  Since they are all there, Hugo wants to know what to call this  . . . . (thing between Tavo and Catalina). Tavo and Catalina just look at each other.

Pancho takes Julio for a walk so Ari and Diego can talk to Temo.  Ari didn't buy Temo anything but he says he can sing him the song they were working on, which is done now,  some time later when they have more privacy. Diego is not happy to hear that.

Blanca tries her first cooking video but is having problems because she cannot keep her mind on what she is doing.  She just wasn't born to record recipes for the internet..Daniela, Linda and Frida all do not want her to give up. Daniela tells her she is the best cook ever and reminds her of how she taught Julieta to cook. In the meantime, Gabriel is standing on his head which is a yoga pose Julieta taught him. It just so happens to also be a part of his infertility treatment. It helps with circulation. He tells Blanca that he will do whatever he needs to to get her daughter pregnant.  Blanca has to smile.  Robert finally comes home and Dave runs to him wanting to know where his mother is.

Catalina asks Diana how the investigation into the accident is going.  Diana will be making another statement tomorrow and Sebas will have to face all of the consequences for what he did.   Diana leaves and Hugo wants to get back to the other topic at hand as to what is going on between Tavo and Catalina.  Tavo is more than happy to explain it but Catalina insists that it is her place to explain it all.  It is LOVE!  Tavo came into her life as a great ally and a source of joy and then when they least expected it,  LOVE just surprised them.  It is pure and unconditional. Love is the best motivation to live. Tavo puts out his hand to shake with Hugo. Catalina grabs it. Hugo just stares.

Dave wants to know if his mother is getting better. Robert will not lie to him since they have an honesty pact.  Dave wants to know what is wrong with his mother.  Robert explains that is mother is in a coma which means that she is asleep and now they all have to pray that she wakes up. Dave asks what happens if she doesn't wake up.  They all cry as Robert hugs Dave.

Catalina asks Hugo to say something. Hugo would rather not.  He needs to time to think about it all. Now, he wants to see if Julieta is reacting or not and excuses himself. Tavo and Catalina smile at each other.

Diego confronts Ari in the hall.  Diego wants to know why Ari just didn't just sing his silly song.  He advises him if he is not going to be honest with Temo, he shouldn't make him suffer either.

Dave feels guilty for his mother being in a coma. Robert says it is not his fault.  Dave was not responsible for anything. Blanca agrees.  Dave says he could have stopped Sebas with the fireworks but he ran to get his mother instead.  Robert tells him that just isn't true. .They all cry. Blanca says God works in mysterious ways.  Dave asks if his mom will get better. Blanca just coos over him. Robert thinks of Julieta.

Ari sticks up for himself and says he has never wanted Temo to suffer, just the contrary.  Diego tells him to make up his mind. Why bother if he is not going to tell Temo the truth?  Ari asks why should he have to explain himself to Diego.  Diego says because he (Diego)  LOVES Temo and is not afraid to tell him how he feels.  Ari says if Temo felt the same way about him they would be together, right? Evidently, Diego is the one who isn't  clear about things. Ari leaves.

Audifaz talks to Polita. He wants to help her with Arqui; with their children.  He says he is just waiting for Tulio to get out of rehab so he can work with him again.  He just needs some time.  Since they are going to get divorced, Polita hopes that he will be responsible for some of his children's expenses.  He doesn't quite understand why they are still getting divorced.  She tells him because of everything he has suggested. Now it is conversion therapy.  Why does Audifaz insist on changing their son into something he is not?  Audi just wants things to go back to normal.  Polita knows that would mean not accepting that the world has changed. Polita tells him to "convert" his ideas and "convert" his heart.

Dave now says he feels like he is undeserving of having his family or of being adopted.  Robert tells him not to repeat that. God put him in their lives and he has given them happiness.  Daniela and Gabriel love him a lot, too. Linda says he is a part of their family. Eugenio says he has the heart of a Córcega. Robert says he needs to realize he is a part of them. He is their heart. The doorbell rings. It is Susana and Sebas. Sebas wants to see Dave. Dave doesn't want to see him.  He wants Sebas to get out.

Back at the hospital, Catalina talks to Julieta. She tells her they have always had a peculiar kind of relationship but in the last days she has felt so close to her daughter.  She has felt all of Julieta's love and support. Julieta has made her so happy. Julieta has taught her so much. She thinks back on Julieta as a great daughter, mother and wife.  She tells Julieta that Blanquita has just learned another word and it is "mamá".  Julieta has to wake up to hear it for herself.  Catalina apologizes for any mistakes she made as a mother and for not telling Julieta that she loved her every single day.  She is her only daughter and her pride.  She wants her to have a long life and begs her to fight for it.

At Blanca's, they all leave the room except for Susana, Sebas, Robert and Dave. Dave says he really doesn't want to hear anything from Sebas. He should just go back to Baja California and stay there.  Susana  wants Dave to hear what Sebas has to say.  Sebas cries and asks Dave to forgive him.  He never wanted anything bad to happen to his mom.  He didn't know it was all going to explode. Dave thinks back to Sebas planning his revenge and how he told Sebas that his dad had said that fireworks were dangerous.  Then he remembers the explosion. Dave tells Sebas that he told him not to do it because  fireworks were dangerous but Sebas didn't pay him any attention.  Now his mother is in a coma because of him. Sebas cries. Dave tells him he is not his friend any more. Robert hugs him.

Well, this was a really emotionally draining episode of our little dramedy but so well done.

Diego sure didn’t miss a beat confronting Ari.

I was happy Polita has not lost her resolve against Audifaz.

More mañana!

Thank you for your recap, Jarifa.

What is up with the hospital facemasks that kept slipppimg down? First Robert's, then Catalina's. Hopefully those are not used in real hospitals in Mexico or the operating room would be a petri dish.

Audi "doesn't quite understand why they are still getting divorced"? Arrrgggh!!! Denial is just not a river in Egypt. What a jerk.

Pizza the Hut(lol)/Jabba the Hutt is stirring up trouble. Again. Oh, yay.

I had to admire Diego's 🔥 flamboyance with the balloons and grand entrance.

Outstanding Jarifa of a truly "emotionally draaining" episode. Loved the title. Stellar.

I always enjoy learning new things so appreciate your “feliz como una lombriz--happy as an earthworm”. “Blanca just coos over him” was another favorite.

The most touching moment for me was “but now the time has come to pray for Robert's wife who saved them both”.

“Crisanta offers nothing but silence”. A start, biting but truthful reaction. “Dave tells him he is not his friend any more”. Sebas has and will pay a terrible emotional price for his actions, including losing his best friend. I think he has yet to absorb the full impact and am starting to wonder if this indeed is sufficient punishment. TNs are always high on the message of forgiveness though so we will need to wait and see.

“Susana decides to tell them all the truth”. I have to give her credit. “Susana herself is going to divide the tree into two pots so it can have two lives and all will be well”. Loving Susana Solomon.

“Gabriel….wants to get busy on the vow renewal plans so when Julieta gets out fo the hospital it will all be ready to go”. Bless you Gabi. “He tells Blanca that he will do whatever he needs to to get her daughter pregnant”. “Blanca has to smile”. As do I.

“Polita tells him to "convert" his ideas and "convert" his heart”. Good luck Poli…yes doris, Audi is a jerk. Totally.

C'mon Ari. Decision time.

“Catalina apologizes for any mistakes she made as a mother and for not telling Julieta that she loved her every single day”. Whew. I shed a few tears over that. Ack.

Jarifa, you are simply the best. Thank you.

Diana

stark, biting truthful reaction.

Sigh.

Diana

Jarifa: Good Job!

doris, Audi is really “out there” 🤪. I am surprised Polita put up with him as long as she did.

Diana, thank you! 🙂 if true to past plot lines, all of this drama should be an unpleasant memory in a few episodes, right? I am hoping so. That being said they sure have captured the “time stopping” quality of watching a loved one in critical condition. . . . maybe a little too well. Daniel Arenas continues to impress. I was glad that Ari had a comeback for Diego but what did it really mean if he thinks of Temo as only a friend? So many plots . . . So much to think about!

Good to 👁 you on the patio, Steve.

Jarifa, the first time I saw Daniel was in Teresa. Madly obsessed with Angelique Boyer, he was very good.

He has really transformed into an excellent actor as sometimes, especially last night, I felt and saw no acting. Just raw pain.

Diana

Thank you Jarifa. You covered everything so well. It was just difficult watching this.

This was such a sad episode. A couple of things that drew my attention were that 1) Susana told Robert she would be responsible for "everything". But then Robert told her, "Are you also going to be responsible for my wife's life?" Money does not buy everything and in this case, if Julieta dies, money cannot bring her back. Also 2) at the end, when Sebas tried to apologize to David, who could blame David for not forgiving him and not wanting to be friends. I suppose one can forgive to a point that you don't hold a grudge, give it to God to deal with. But some people are just plain dangerous or a very bad influence.

I agree Daniel Arenas is a superb actor. I've enjoyed him since "Despertar Contigo."

Thanks, Jarifa.

My favorite scene was Pancho and his sons kidding around with each other in the hospital room.

Ari versus Diego. Got to give Diego points for being straight up-with Temo about his feelings. With Ari, who knows?

Thanks Jarifa. Decided to just read the recap and skip watching the episode. I don't enjoy these hospital dramas, because I have spent way too much time in actual hospitals and nursing homes the last few decades... For me this is not entertainment.

But I do enjoy your detailed recaps and appreciate how much work goes into them. And Cynthia, like your new pic/avatar. Very nice.

Off to the mailbox and a walk in the cold, gray January day. Leaving the house at 6 am tomorrow to take our son to an early morning colonoscopy across town. Driving on the interstate in the dark is not my strong suit so send me some good vibes if anyone is awake at 6 am tomorrow!

"one can forgive to a point that you don't hold a grudge, give it to God to deal with". I like that Cynthia...

Niecie, I like to root for the underdog and really, outside of smiling too broadly when Ari went in the mud during the tug of war, Diego has been a stand up, honest guy. And upfront as you noted. I'm not even sure Ari knows what he is feeling...

So, I guess Fernando is completely out of the picture already? Hope they didn't take too many new extended family photos...

Diana

Oh Judy.

Yes, you are more than familiar with hospitals and long term care facilities as your very frequent visits bestowed so much care, support and kindess to others over the years. Cynthia and Jarifa's recaps were great. The last two nights were beyond depressing and am SO glad you didn't watch.

I will be praying for you tomorrow for a safe trip there and back. And of course for good results...

Diana

DGD and I are watching Horton Hears a Who for the fortieth time ~ LOL ~, so I get some internet time.

Diana said, "I'm not even sure Ari knows what he is feeling..."
I agree. He may be trying to sort out his feelings and orientation, which can be a process, unlike Temo and Diego who already have their answers. And then I t could all be a red herring, and one has to wonder if this current Ari storyline is a mechanism to show just how maligned Audifaz has become. Ari might just be jealous of Diego's friendship.

Jarifa, thank you for another excellent recap.

Lots of heavy duty drama recently. Too much for me, I can't take all the stress and suspense. I'll be on tranquilizers soon if they don't lighten up.
:-)

Diana, from yesterday: "Only you can prevent forest fires" was the tag line I believe.

Yes! How could I have ever forgotten that?!?
:-)

Cynthia, nice picture!

Thanks, all, for stopping by.

JudyB, I understand your aversion to these hospital episodes. If I were not recapping, I probably would skip this story arc, too, for the same reasons as you.

Niecie, that was cute with Pancho doing the old airplane trick with the food.,

doris, the same post appeared twice so I deleted one of them. That red herring idea with Ari would be an interesting twist.

Cynthia, ITA some people are just dangerous/bad influence. You have to be so careful with children.

Andy, Here is hoping we are on to a new plot sooner rather than later. I should start counting the number of episodes it takes to complete one of these story arcs from beginning to end. . . Then we might be able to predict when it might be over. LOL

Thank for the great recap.

The storyline about Julieta is too painful to comment on; I just hope that it's resolved somehow.

The writers seem to have constructed a triangle of unequal proportions with Temo, Ari and Diego. As far as I can tell, Temo was or is in love with Ari, Diego is in love with Temo and Ari likes Temo and dislikes Diego (and Diego is no fan of Ari!). Why Ari dislikes Diego is slightly puzzling; but it is clear that Ari resents Diego's intrusions on the interactions between Ari and Temo. Temo has picked up on Ari's dislike of Diego and is puzzled by it. Not sure if this type of interpersonal drama has been a topic in Telenoveland before.

Thank you Andy. It's the same picture from my profile that is on my personal blog. I had noticed that my picture was looking out of whack and blurred. So I deleted it and uploaded the same photo. I am not sure why the one that was up became blurred and distorted.

Anon, interesting analysis of the triangle. I like that they are spending the time to portray it/characters with some insight and thought.

Can Imelda, Linda, Axel, AUDIFAZ and Sebas go into a coma instead of Judi? Writers?
