Mi marido tiene más familia Wednesday 1/30/19 Capítulo 98 Neto Gets a One Way Ticket--OR--More Family?

Blanca tells Dani she will always be there for her as long as she needs her.  Dani wants to continue to learn how to knit clothes for the triplets and not just from Imelda but also from Blanca.  Blanca says if they knit together they will be able to make so much more. Her three grandchildren are going to be the most loved in the world.

Nonno is telling Guido that Gabriel no longer being with them is the worst tragedy they have been through.   Nobody will ever be able to take his place.  Guido realizes the great void that Gabriel's death has left but the Mussi's know how to get up and go on as they always have. Guido insists that he can help Nonno and be there for the family he loves.  Nonno proposes changing the name of the mezcal to honor Gabriel. Guido is not too sure about that since their brand is still positioning itself in the marketplace.  Nonno thinks then they could have a special launch of another kind of mezcal, a special edition.  Guido smiles.

MIAMI Waiting to be deported, Neto tells Yolo that he did everything to make her and her brothers happy. Yolo says maybe he didn't do enough. Neto insists that his children knew how much he did to get his papers in order and he worked very hard because of them.  Yolo says maybe if he had stopped being so nice to strangers, none of this would have happened.  He admits she might be right but he was just trying to give people an opportunity in this country. They had families and should have been able to fulfill their dreams. Yolo tells him her school, her friends, her clothing, her stuff, as a matter of fact, everything that she loves is here.  Neto tells her not to worry because he will find someone to pack up their belongings and send them to them as spoon as he can. She doesn't believe him.  Neto  moves to sit next to her.  She won't even look at him. When she finally does, Neto says unfortunately they cannot go back in time.  This is hard on him, too, because he doesn't want to leave this country after so many years.  He assures her it will all be okay.  She  looks away. He goes on about what a beautiful country Mexico is. They can start over. The four "Reyes" together.  They have done it before, right? Yolo tells him tearfully that she doesn't want to start over or leave the USA.

Susana and Grecia are at  Pancho's apartment. She wants to make sure she is feeling okay after fainting. Grecia is feeling better so she can help Susana unload her car. Susana is worried about Sebas getting blamed for it all. Susana also hopes that Sebas gets along with Pancho's kids.  Grecia tells her to get ready for some fights. It is only natural but things should get better day by day. Or month by month adds Susana. Grecia adds maybe year by year.  Pancho arrives. Grecia asks him if he is nervous about  Sebas moving in. Yes, Pancho is concerned. Always saying what is on her mind, Grecia adds that Sebas and Julio having to share a room will be the worst part of it all. Pancho says at least Sebas won't snore like his granny Crisanta.

Sebas and Julio are getting into it already as the kids plan to record Ari's and Temo's video.  Sebas says living together is the worst idea. Julio says it was the very very very worst idea. Lupita reminds them the kids were supposed to be "united."  As they divide up the tasks, Julio moans about having to work with Sebas.  Sebas is not happy about it either. Temo tells Julio and Sebas to make peace now. They sort of  but not really.

Diana tells Hugo she wants him to solve this "belching" incident before the board starts to question his authority as principal.   Hugo says the police are investigating.  What else can he do?  Diana is gong to give him  some advice.  As principal, he is going to have to become more proactive like putting cameras in the halls and classrooms.  He needs to find the person responsible as quickly as possible.

MIAMI  Neto is talking to the kids about flying to Mexico City.  He has the plane tickets and some cash. Once they arrive, he will see  what their choices are.   Yolo looks shell shocked.  Andi suggests that maybe his boss in Mexico might be able to help him.  As soon as he gets his cellphone back, Neto will be calling him and the owner of the restaurant.  He will take responsibility for all of them They are the"four Reyes" and that is how it is going to stay. An ICE officer tells him they have secured four seats on a private plane for Neto and his children.  Neto is being deported for being the criminal he is. He and Yolo are handcuffed and  moved out with the twins.  Yolo screams for her father to do something

Temo and Ari's video shoot is a success with all of the kids helping out.

Blanca knits with Dani. Blanca emphasizes having patience, paying attention and working delicately. Blanca says she must create her alebrijes in the same way. Blanca says since they have all the time in the world, she asks if Dani  has been writing in her diary and if she wants to share what she has written.  Danni talks about missing Gabriel, her pain and wanting to be strong for he three babies.  Blanca hopes that by knitting stitch by stitch, Dani will feel a little more at peace.  Dani says she will need meter after meter of yarn for that to happen.  Blanca says later she  is going to cook some food with Linda and  she asks Dani if she would like to go to church with her afterwards. Talking to God always works. Dani nods.

As Linda is cooking, Eugenio voices his fear of forgetting and not being able to support his family. He is also afraid of Blanca finding out. Linda tells him he cannot go on like this and to remember how Blanca hates lies. He just wants a little more time. He sees Dani and Blanca knitting and doesn't want them  to hear. Linda advises him to just tell her mother and get it over with.

MIAMI  Neto and his family are about to be loaded on the plane one by one and the handcuffs are removed from Neto and Yolo.  Neto thinks back on how worked with  Martín  at the restaurant and of the house they rented. The ICE officer gives Neto his cell phone back and tells him there is nothing for him here so he can go back to his own country.  Neto takes one last look and follows his children onto the place. The twins try to smile. Yolo looks traumatized. Neto cries.

Susana and Pancho are dancing around the apartment when Grecia comes in  with some of Susana's stuff.  Grecia cannot stay because she has some therapy appointments at the hospital.  Susana asks her to please take care of her brother Eugenio, please. Of course, she will. Pancho asks how things are going at the school.  Grecia says things are fine now but would be better if they could discover who was behind the attacks.  Grecia leaves and suddenly Pancho and Susana are alone.  Susana doesn't want the kids catching them almost like they did last time. Pancho has a surprise for her. Does she have a lighter? Well, he does. He does a magic trick and gives her a beautiful red welcome flower. They kiss.

All of the kids clean up after the video shoot. Ari tells Temo now they have to edit it very well and then schedule an event so the most people possible can see . Temo is worried about it causing a lot of negative reactions. Ari says that is the point to show it to as many people as they can to promote diversity. The "united kids"  do their "united" cheer.

At the door, Imelda tells Polita to enjoy little Arqui while she can because her son will end up living with them.  Polita says that will depend on what the law says. Imelda boasts that they have a new lawyer and there is no way Polita can win especially when the judge finds out about what is gong on at her house,  Polita counters that nobody would want to take her child away from her and send it to live with a grandmother who does nothing but feed discrimination. Dani and Blanca come to see what the arguing is about. Polita says that Imelda is threatening  to take her Arqui away from her. Blanca cannot believe what Imelda wants to do and tells her that she has gone too far this time. It is a crime. Imelda asks Blanca if she is going to join the liberals  now. Dani says it is not being "liberal". It is having compassion.  Dani says it is terrible and says it is as if she would want to take her children away from her. Imelda disagrees. This is completely different. Nothing justifies taking children away from their mother. Imelda plays the victim one more time asking if everyone is going to go against her in the building.Blanca is not taking that.  She tells Imelda that she doesn't look at what is happening.  Blanca still remembers Imelda's actions after "Juan Pablo" (Robert) got lost and how that affected her. Dani adds how Imelda wouldn't allow them to celebrate her birthday because that was the day that Juan Pablo went missing.  Imelda brushes if off saying she didn't know that Ana had taken Juan Pablo and she just did what any grandmother would have done.  Dani thinks a grandmother would have been  loving and not encouraged dissent. Imelda complains that they always think that she is the bad one.  Blanca says all they want Imelda to do is to actually think about what she is doing.  Imelda blames them.  They are the ones who are wrong.  They care nothing for values or custom. Dani tells her the world has changed and the only values are human values.  Imelda has had enough.  She tells them to move so she can get back into the apartment.  She slams the door shut. Polita apologizes to them for dragging them into her problems. Dani and Blanca believe that family supports one another when they need it. They love Polita and she loves them, too.

Blanca and Dani go to church and pray at the altar of Our Lady of Guadalupe for help to be strong for their families.  Later at the church, Blanca asks Dani if her father Eugenio is well.  Dani looks nervous.  Blanca says she was gone so long, she didn't know how Eugenio would adapt to being alone.  He seems strange and nervous to her.  Dani says he has been anxious and sad but given all they have been through it would be normal. Blanca doesn't look convinced.  Dani says the good thing is that Blanca is back. Blanca agrees and tells Dani she will be glued to her day and night. Dani thanks her.

A depressed Nonno goes into Gabriel's room at his house. Everything in the house reminds him of Gabriel.  He tells Guido it is not right that they continue living there. They need to find a place of their own.  Guido says it is a good place to feel that the presence of his cugino (cousin) Gabriel near.  They could stay until Dani comes back. Nonno agrees. Nonno asks  Guido if they have any  more information on the employees from the restaurant in Miami.  Guido says he found out that one of his trusted employees had been deported to Mexico.  Nonno finds out it was the new manager Neto Rey.

At a healthy vegetable filled supper with Pancho and Susana, Sebas and Julio  having to share a room is the major topic of  discussion. Axel says Sebas could always go live with him. Susana says no. Julio manages to get a whoopee cushion on Sebas' chair and Sebas sits on it. Julio smirks. Sebas didn't find it funny and tells him to be ready for pay back.   Pancho asks Julio what kind of welcome  this is. He tells Julio to apologize. Julio doesn't want to. Axel asks if everyday will be like  this. Sebas asks Susana if she isn't going to say anything Julio. Bedlam breaks out.

Polita talks to he lawyer about the possibility of Imelda taking little Arqui away from her. The lawyer says it is complicated.  He says even though custody is usually awarded to the mother, if the father can prove  that the mother has not been a good mother, the father could win custody.  Ari and Polita get upset.  Ari begs the lawyer to do what ever is necessary for his mother to keep Arqui.

MEXICO CITY  It is night time in Mexico City and Neto and his children are wandering the streets as he tries to think of what to do next.  He had a contact number but nobody is answering. Yolo wants to know  where they are going. Neto doesn't know. Santi asks him since he came from Oaxaca, if he doesn't  have some family in Oaxaca. Neto says he has no family there as far as he knows but maybe it would be nice to go back to his roots.  Yolo cannot believe they would go to "Oaxaca". There is nothing in Oaxaca. Neto explains it is where his heart is, their roots. It was the land of his mother Yolotl.

Eugenio has an evening appointment with Grecia. Tonight they are going to exercise his memory in another way. She wants to talk about his youth. Would it bother him if she asked him some questions? He says as long as it stays just between them. He compares her to a priest in a confessional.  She agrees. Where did he go on vacation?  His mother took them to the beach once when they were little kids. What did they do? They listened to "Kalimán" (a popular Mexican super hero starting with a radio series in 1963 and continuing with comic books, movies, etc.) He played with Tulio. He was Kalimán and Tulio was his sidekick Solín. He listened to "Los rebeldes de Roc" (The Rock Rebels), etc.  Did he have a favorite song? Yes, it was called "Aconséjame, mamá" (Advise Me, Mother). Eugenio explains that his mother was always around. How was his mother with her sons?  Eugenio explains that she was really hard on them. If they were bad, she would cut their hair.  Did his mother give him advice about his feelings or his first loves? Eugenio says that she did. Who was his first love? Eugenio smiles.  His first love was a girl called Yolotl. She was so very beautiful.

Crazy weather up here. We got all the way up to -15 today. It was sunny, though. We are going down close to -27 tonight and may make it back up to 0 tomorrow afternoon. Then there is the chance of snow. It could all be washed away by rain and temps up to mid 50's on Monday.

Anyway, another packed episode tonight. I always enjoy seeing how one culture views another as in the portrayal of ICE agents and Neto's deportation in this episode and the last. It looks like the deceased Yolotl is going to play a pivotal role in the story. I aways enjoy the homey scenes with Blanca. I enjoyed even more how Dani and Blanca double teamed and angered Imelda.

Más mañana.

Thank you Jarifa. Again, I LOVED your title. I hope you are able to stay warm and that you have a nice fire going in your fireplace. I can't imagine being in that kind of cold!

Anyway, this thing with ICE and Neto is so unbelievable. And then they leave on a private plane without any bags? The handcuffing of the kids was the worst, I know that does not happen. But I guess this is the way Mexico views our deportation process and thinks this is the way we all feel.

I loved Blanca and Dani knitting together, that was very sweet.

Jarifa, thank you for another great recap that covered everything.

Wow, the ICE scenes are very rough. I know that families don't get deported practically overnight, but I do not know how well ICE agents or border patrol agents treat people. I certainly hope it is better than shown in this show, at least in general. But from the news we know there are some abuses, even deaths in custody. I hate to think how people in Mexico feel about these scenes.

On a happier note, I was very pleased to hear that Eugenio was a fan of Kalimán. I only came across the Kalimán comic book a few years ago in a Hispanic bodega. Interesting, but a bit of a disappointment too. Very, very dated, and nowhere near as hip as the comic I regularly read back in the 1970's when I did a semester in Mexico, "Kendor, el hombre del Tíbet". No doubt Kendor was inspired by Kalimán.

So Eugenio's first love was a beautiful girl named Yolotl. Gee, I wonder... no, no, it couldn't be.

:-)

Jarifa, just wonderful. What a fascinating, all encompassing recap.

Last night was depressing to me but your summary cheered me up and reminded me that not all is bad, not all is lost.

Jarifa and Cynthia, I also enjoyed Blanca and Dani knitting and their unified push back of Imelda. Blanca had that serious frown - you know she means business. And yet, they treated Imelda firmly bur respectfully. Not that she deserved it, but...

The deportation was gut churning. “The twins try to smile. Yolo looks traumatized. Neto cries” was the perfect, sad description.

Cynthia, the handcuffs made me cry.

“An ICE officer tells him they have secured four seats on a private plane for Neto and his children”. Wow! And here I thought a musty old bus was the transportation of choice. I better go dust off my beanie.

“Her three grandchildren are going to be the most loved in the world”. I’ve no doubt! Loved Blanca dispensing advice including “Talking to God always works”. Yes. It does.

“Guido smiles”. We frown. So, does Guido really think Dani will move back there? Not if Blanca has anything to say about it.

“Diana is gong to give him some advice. As principal, he is going to have to become more proactive like putting cameras in the halls and classrooms”. Hmmm, is the best offense a good defense?  Somethin’ is shaky here.

I enjoyed the video (Osario Jr. is becoming a favorite of mine) and the red rose. These brief bits of sunshine were badly needed last night.

“Imelda tells Polita to enjoy little Arqui while she can because her son will end up living with them”. I don’t think so Imelda. You are the devil and Arqui will not be subjected to your evil. Is there any way we can get ICE to deport her?? Blech.

Neto’s “It was the land of his mother Yolotl” and Eugenio’s “first love was a girl called. Hmmm. andy, your " Gee, I wonder... no, no, it couldn't be" said it best!

I liked Neto's flashback scenes. Gabe Soto has a knack for looking so hopeful and earnest - I am thoroughly enjoying his character.

I know we can't discuss previews so I will simply say my spirits were lifted by something I saw.

Jarifa, you've made my day, yet again. This episode gave us lemons, you gave us sweet lemonade. Thank you.

Diana

Cynthia, I also enjoy scenes where people are knitting, crocheting, sewing clothes even embroidering. It is good seeing people creating clothing and household items and embellishing them by hand.

Andy, I had no knowledge of Kalimán and was also surprised by his “dated “ look even for the sixties. He looked like he was a carryover from the forties.

Diana, ITA Emiliano Osorio is a very talented teenager. I always have liked the kid. Yes, if we could only get ICE to deport Imelda to parts unknown. A wonderful fantasy that would be. It seems she has always controlled her sons by being the owner of everything: the building and the business. It seems that Tulio was the only one who escaped her influence for a while when he was with that felon aka kidnapper Auntie Ana.

Thank you for your recap, Jarifa. And ... stay warm during this polar vortex! ⛄️⛄️⛄️
We woke up to 17°F this morning, it has been cold all week. This weekend we will warm up and have highs in the mid- to high 60s on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. Crazy, right? Caray! Caray! Roller coaster weather!!!

The domestic Blanca scenes are always a soothing balm to my soul. In our modern, busy lives, it is so calming to see them doing something that takes time -like handwork- and has survived the ages.

I will not have time to watch this episode today and am really grateful for the recap and Patio comments. Thank you, everyone!

Thank you Jarifa for the extensive recap.

I too was put off with the depiction of the deportation on many levels. Not sure what the producers/director wanted to convey. The private jet puzzled me. Does ICE really use such aircraft? The handcuffs were way over the top especially on Yolo. Surely the Mexican audience didn't buy this depiction if only because of the private jet.

Many good moments with Blanca and Danni as well as Ari, Temo and the production gang.

Of course, Yolotl was Eugenio's first love - hum... mas familia?

Jarifa: Wake me up when Karma hits Guido BIGLY.

When will the Protagonists come back to this Show ?

Thanks so much Jarifa. Chicago and Minnesota are really frigid. We're cold here in Ohio and I'm certainly not taking any long walks in the park, but we only go a bit below zero at night. And yes, we too are promised warmer temps by the weekend. In the meantime, the city is going all out to get people off the streets and into warm buildings both day and night.

Certainly appreciated the cultural information about Kalimán and also learning that lucky Andy Banda got a semester in Mexico in the 70's. We are all drawn to these telenovelas by different paths, but certainly the majority have had some previous stays in Central or South America. Not me alas. But trying to learn Spanish now as a way of staving off dementia, which afflicted my mom and now is afflicting my older sister.

Looking forward to more Neto and less Imelda. Por favor!!!!!

doris, glad that the recap was useful for you. I cannot wait until tonights's episode.

JudyB, ITA about more Neto and less Imelda.

In thinking it over a bit, wouldn't it be an ironic, rather cruel twist of fate if Neto is indeed Eugenio's son??

All those lost years without Robert...and now to discover another son (speculation not spoiler) as he is in the throes of dementia.

But still, I'm for anything that makes Eugenio smile and that will stave his progression...

Judy, sending huge hugs your way...

Diana

Thanks Diana, sending huge hugs right back, and WARM ones!

Thanks, Jarifa. Great job.

Eugenio might have an unknown son? Muy interesante.

I love the scenes of Susana, Pancho, and the kids all crowded together. Susana sure has changed from her "master" days. Julio and Sebas actually are very similar, both strong-headed and confident.

Diana, yes that would be quite ironic if Neto turns out to be Eugenio's long lost son that he never knew.

Oh yes and I did love the unity between Blanca and Dani coming to Polita's side. Imelda is just plain cruel. So demanding and controlling!

Jarifa..thank you. I wasn't home and couldn't watch this episode. My daughter and I had a Poldark marathon. I hope that you are warm. I cannot believe the temperatures that you are experiencing. I am struggling with our nighttime single digits.I

I am very curious about Neto' s storyline.

Ot..judyb, I am starting to feel that quick and unexpected is kinder than suffering for weeks, months, years. ...but it is shocking and difficult for the loved ones left behind.

Quick and unexpected is devastating for those left behind. No one wants their loved ones to suffer for weeks, months or years, but at least then you are grateful that they are no longer miserable and in pain, or no longer left to the care of people in nursing homes whose "care" is not always caring. Catch -22. In any case, we grieve. And miss them. Always.

Glad you could share a Poldark Marathon with your daughter, Susanlynn. I'm sure Carlos would have loved to join you. He was a Poldark fan too, wasn't he?

Susanlynn, a Poldark marathon sounds like great fun, especially when you could do it with your daughter. : ) I have solved the low temps by staying inside since I could. It will be good to be out and about tomorrow and for the tempst o be bearable.

Ot...judyb...yes, Carlos recommended the original Poldark miniseries that was done many years ago, but I never got the chance to see it. Quite a few people on the Outlander forum (thelitforum.com)'are fans of the Poldark book series.
