Previously: Lucía told Candela to pack her things and leave. Vale
asked Juls if she had sex with Sergio. LCJ went to see Mateo to talk to him
about Eva, he thinks Eva was being coerced into the money laundering business.
Mateo gave him a shocker when he told LCJ that Eva was also doing the
horizontal mambo with Alacrán.
LCJ (León/Chino/Jacobo) doesn’t believe it, but Mateo assures him
that he saw it with his own eyes. LCJ wants to know what Mateo heard, so Mateo
tells him that Eva told Alacrán that if he died, she wanted to die too because
she loves him. LCJ thinks Mateo must be mistaken. Mateo wishes he was mistaken,
his whole life has been a lie…his marriage…and now he doesn’t even know if the
child Eva is having is his. LCJ wants Mateo to talk to her so she can explain,
but Mateo knows she will continue lying. He had already asked her about the
money laundering and all she did was lie to his face. Mateo can’t trust her,
what he has to do is go to the newspaper and publish his report….if they won’t
do it, he’ll go to the competition. LCJ heatedly tells Mateo to calm down, the
baby might be his and they could be blackmailing Eva. Mateo retorts, “Oh, yeah!
They put a gun to her head so that she could be rolling around with that
criminal! That’s what happened! Enough! I have to bring her down, that’s what I
need to do!” LCJ yells that what he needs to do is not act on impulse. Mateo
gets his laptop and starts to leave, but LCJ blocks his way.
At the Carvajal house, Eva is on the phone with Palomares
inquiring if Mateo was given an assignment, but he wasn’t. After she ends the
call, Silvina tries to reassure Eva that everything will be fine. As Silvina
leaves, Guille approaches. Eva tells him that she is not well because Mateo
didn’t come home and she hasn’t heard from him. She has no idea where he is.
Guille promises that all will be well. Of course, no matter what, “Tranquila,
everything will be fine.”
At Mateo’s house, Mateo argues that LCJ is just a chauffeur and a
sicario and is trying to tell him what to do about his wife. LCJ tells him to
just calm down and think things through. Mateo, however, has nothing to think
about, he is not going to allow Eva and that criminal to continue stealing from
the company. After LCJ tells him that he is not going to let him leave, Mateo
pushes him hard, but LCJ comes back only to be struck by Mateo’s right hook.
LCJ slowly walks back to Mateo and tells him, “Do you know why I’m not going to
let you move from here? Because the owner of that company is me, because Eva’s
father is me. My name is León Carvajal.” Mateo laughs. LCJ continues, “Calm
down because everyone reacts the same way. Do you know what transmigration of
souls means? When the body dies and the soul transmigrates to another body. I
could explain it to you, but it would take a couple of hours and we don’t have
much time, give me just 10 minutes.”
At the Carvajal house, Candela and Lucía are in the bedroom.
Candela tells Lucía that she has no intention of leaving. Lucía wonders what
part of ‘I don’t want you in my life’ Candela doesn’t understand. Candela
counters that the one who is not understanding is Lucía, she is there to stay.
If Lucía wants her to leave, she can call her security and have her kicked out.
(Sounds like an excellent idea to all of us.) Lucía assures her that she can do
just that, but Candela wonders what people would say when they find out that
the widow of Mexico mistreats her poor, old mother...maybe Candela will become
famous. Lucía is sure that all Candela wants is money, so she is going to give
Candela a blank check so that she can get out of her house and her life. (When
her skank ass clears the front gate, stop payment on it.)
In Vale’s bedroom, Juls explains that having sex with Sergio was
not a planned event. She left her house and had nowhere to stay so Sergio made
the offer. They started to drink mescal…and it just happened. Juls continues
that she was out of sorts and confused, she didn’t know if she wanted to be
with a man or not. When Juls reminds Vale that they were no longer together,
Vale agrees that she should be able to do whatever she wants and then asks if
she liked it. Juls replies that she didn’t, it was nowhere close to what she
felt with Vale.
At Beltrino’s house, Alicia is busy at the computer when Beltrino
mentions that he missed her in bed. After he asks what she is doing, Alicia
explains that she is doing some research on everything he told her. She
explains what she has found out so far—there is very little on transmigration
and those who have been found are frauds. When Beltrino reminds her that he is
living it, Alicia wonders how she will tell Javier. Beltrino doesn’t want her
to tell him, it’ll only push Javier away from him. Alicia wonders if Beltrino
isn’t afraid that she will pull away from him, Beltrino remains silent, but
pats her gently on the arm. He then tells her to look up Camilo on the
computer. After Alicia finds Camilo, Beltrino suggests that she talk to him, he
might be able to help her.
In his house, Camilo is reading his notes about what he has found
out…everything seems to be significant pieces of a puzzle. He writes about the
butterfly mark and how butterflies are the only creature that go through a
tremendous transformation when they emerge from their cocoon as another
creature. The ancients thought this transformation was similar to the passing
of an earthly body to a spiritual body. That is why the butterfly is a symbol
of rebirth. In applying this to transmigration, one can conclude that this
phenomenon occurs in selected individuals to illustrate the potential of the
transformation of a soul.
At Alacrán’s hideout, the goons worry that Alacrán’s fever hasn’t
gone down. Just then, Don Terecio calls, so Gancho gets closer to Alacrán and
puts on the speaker. Don T has heard that the cops dragged off several of the
men. Alacrán explains that someone tipped off the cops and they came down on
them hard. Don T assumes that El Chino had something to do with it and he is
the one who shot Alacrán. When Alacrán confirms it, Don T chides him for being so
incompetent…Don T may as well have hired El Chino as his second hand since El
Chino always outdoes Alacrán and always gets away. When Alacrán reminds Don T
that El Chino betrayed him and that he has been loyal to him, Don T tells him
that loyalty is good, but what makes him powerful is being effective. Don T
hopes that this woman who is laundering money for him is not sucking out all of
Alacrán’s effectiveness and messing up the job. Don T has eyes everywhere and
if they mess up, they will pay!
Outside the Carvajal house, Lucía calls LCJ, but she gets his
voicemail, so she leaves a message asking where he is since she hasn’t heard
from him. She has been thinking and has come to a decision. She needs to talk
to him, it’s urgent.
Eva goes to see Alacrán. She has talked to the doctor who said
that if his fever doesn’t go down, they will have to take him to a clinic.
Alacrán refuses to move from there…the clinic will have to come to him. When
Eva tells him that that won’t happen, Alacrán asks if she wants him to drown in
his own blood. Want a second opinion Alac?
At the Carvajal study, Johny and Candela have a conversation.
Johny wonders why she has to be fighting with Lucía all the time…that is not
what she came for. She came to reconnect with Lucía. Candela knows that Lucía
hates her and wonders what she should do. Johny suggests that she should get
close to Lucía through a more humanitarian side. Candela needs to use that
connection between mother and child that never breaks. She and Lucía need to
meet each other once more. Candela should tell Lucía that she has cancer and
that she is going to die…that is why she came, because she could not leave in
peace without making amends with her daughter. Candela blurts out that she is
very healthy, but then gets it and ask if she shouldn’t have told Lucía that
from the start, she doesn’t think Lucía will believe her. Johny insists that
Lucía will believe her if she says that she is just now trying to accept this
and that she could not die without asking her daughter to forgive her for all
the harm she has done to her. Candela claps and cackles as she tells Johny that
he is such a bastard (canalla)!
Lucía is still outside when Silvina approaches and wants to talk
to her. She is very worried about her house since Jacobo’s wife and daughter
are staying there…and Jacobo is a sicario. Lucía reminds Silvina that they
really aren’t sure about that yet. After Silvina insists that it is Jacobo’s
wife and daughter who are living there, she asks Lucía to talk to Vale because she
doesn’t want those women in her house anymore. Lucía prefers to go talk to
Lupita and Juls herself. (Maybe just send out a process server?)
At Silvina’s house, Pancho and Lupita are having something to eat
when Beltrino calls her from a treehouse. Lupita doesn’t want to answer, but
when Pancho insists that she answer because Beltrino will only persist, Lupita
answers. Beltrino is not too happy with her for taking so long to answer, so
Lupita asks him not to be so impatient, she needs time to understand that his
soul is in another body. When she tells him that it scares her, Beltrino
questions why she should be scared…it’s not like he’s a monster. After Beltrino
insists that he is her husband, Lupita hangs up on him. Such gratitude, Loop.
Guille and Renata go visit the Castillos. Guille is grateful that
they dropped the charges against him, he is very regretful. Luisa responds that
the one he should be grateful to is her husband because if it were up to her,
he would have stayed in jail. Mr. Castillo then surprises Guille by telling him
that he always knew he was one of the assailants. Luisa adds that her husband
just wanted him to be honest and confess, and Mr. Castillo questions why Guille
never did. Tell him the truth Guille, “Because I'm just a little chicken shit.”
At the Carvajal grounds, Vale, Juls, and Sergio have returned from
the funeral. They comment about the number of people who attended and that
Lucho was always the life of the party. What bothers Vale most is seeing the
family suffering, they took it very hard. Juls notes that Lucho’s father gave a
very powerful speech, it’s obvious that he is not going to rest until he finds
Lucho’s murderers. Sergio cries that the worst thing is that he and Lucho were
always fighting…and they were like brothers. Silvina then comes and offers to
make Sergio something very special to eat so he can relax. As he and Silvina
leave, Vale tells him to try to rest. Juls then tells Vale that she has
something to tell her now that they are alone.
At the Castillo’s, Guille admits that he was a coward, he was
scared and didn’t want them to know the truth. He felt guilty about what
happened, but he wanted to help them without them finding out. Renata adds that
that is why they pretended to be part of a foundation. She assures them that
Guille went through a hard time…he couldn’t take the guilt. After Renata
comments that they are very good people and are very appreciative of the
friendship they had with them, Guille asks why they didn’t accept the money.
Mrs. Castillo replies that they didn’t want to appear as people who can be
bought, they are honest people. Guille insists that it is the least they
deserve after what he did, and Renata adds that now that Guille is free, they
have no reason to feel that they are being bought. After Guille asks that they
please accept the money, Mrs. Castillo replies that they will think about it.
At the Carvajal patio, Juls tells Vale that when Jacobo rescued
her, he told her something astonishing…that he had her father’s body, but the
one who has her father’s soul is Beltrán, the one who helped her mother when
she was in the hospital and paid the hospital bill. Vale doesn’t understand how
Beltrán can be Juls’s father and neither can Juls. After Vale asks if she
believes them, Juls explains that at first she thought Jacobo was trying to
fool her, but when she talked to Beltrán, he had the same look as her
father…and the same energy. Vale understands, she assumes that Jacobo is not a
sicario after all. Ding ding ding ding
At the company, Palomares approaches Mateo who is working as fast
as he can on his report. After Palomares tells him that his wife is frantically
looking for him, he suggests that Mateo call her. Mateo continues to type and
tells Palomares to leave him alone. Palomares thinks that whatever is happening
is a problem between Eva and Mateo, what he cares about is that Mateo do his
job and that he does it well. Mateo remarks that he might just give Palomares
the best report he has ever given in his life, so he shouldn’t be concerned.
Alicia goes to visit Cami
at his house. Alicia introduces herself and tells Cami that she is Beltrino’s
wife, though she isn’t sure she is his wife because he says he is a man who is
trapped in her husband’s body. Cami is familiar with the case, so Alicia hopes
that Cami can help her understand what is going on because she feels like she
is going crazy…and she doesn’t want to go completely insane.
At the Carvajal terrace,
Juls and Vale continue talking. Juls appreciates everything Vale did, she saved
their lives. Vale acknowledges that she may have saved their lives, but she
should have never let Lucho go. Juls thinks that after everything that has happened,
they are more united than ever. She knows that they are not together anymore,
but what they have is very strong. Vale has doubts, so many things have
happened and it’s been very arduous…she doesn’t know what to say to Juls. After
Juls tells her that she will be there for Vale in whatever she needs, Vale
thinks she needs to be alone...and she needs time. Juls understands but doesn’t
think they have to end their friendship or stop seeing each other. Vale is
confused about Juls plan to leave, so Juls adds that she doesn’t know what is
going to happen now that her father appeared.
At Silvina’s house,
Pancho leaves to go to his job (yes, he still has a job!). Once alone, Lupita
notices a black butterfly on the curtain and is startled when Beltrino comes up
behind her…and is drinking.
At
Cami’s house, Cami explains to Alicia that Beltrino’s is just one
case, he has others. After he gives a quick review of the
transmigrants he has met, Alicia thinks it’s too much for her to
understand. Cami agrees that it is difficult to understand that there
actually is life after death. When Alicia wonders if her real husband
is dead, Cami suggests that he may be in another body. Alicia
surmises that on any day, some stranger can come to her door and tell
her that he has her husband’s soul. Cami then comments that
Beltrino’s case is different because he has found his body in
Cami’s friend. Alicia remarks that this is very difficult to
understand this, so Cami points out that if this is difficult for
her, she can just imagine how difficult it is for Beltrino. Alicia is
horrified that she is living with a stranger…she is sleeping with a
stranger…and more than that, he is a sicario. Now she wonders why
Beltrán…where is the reasoning. Cami doesn’t know, the only one
who knows is Beltrino and that is why he needs her support.
At
Silvina’s house, Beltrino takes the last swig from his flask. When
Lupita asks how he got in, Beltrino reminds her that he could pick
locks before he could talk. Lupita doesn’t like anyone coming in
uninvited and Beltrino growls that he doesn’t like being hung up
on. Lupita doesn’t like the way Beltrino acts. He excuses it
because he doesn’t know what is happening or what will happen. When
Lupita tells him that she and her daughter are better off without
him, Beltrino loses it and grabs her and wonders if she is saying
that because of Pancho. He then looks at her body and tells her that
she is still good. Lupita tells him to leave and tries to run inside,
but Beltrino follows her and grabs her pinning her against the patio
wall. She is not going to run him off, he tries to kiss her, so
Lupita pushes him away and gets away again. Beltrino follows her
inside. Death Chick.....Do Something, this is getting kind of iffy.
At
the Carvajal house, Lucía drops a signed blank check in front of
Candela so that she can leave and get out of Lucía life. Candela
wonders if that is what Lucía thinks of her. Lucía remarks that she
is a bad, abusive mother. When Lucía asks what it is that she should
think, Candela replies that things have changed. Lucía wonders if
Candela has been working on changing all these years and is now a
better person…she doesn’t believe her. Candela admits that she
would like to live in luxury, but what she really wants is to have
her daughter…she needed to see her again…too ask for forgiveness
before it’s too late. Candela puts on a good act as she
regurgitates exactly what Johny told her to say.
Eva is with Alacrán trying to get him to eat. As she sits beside
him and caresses his face, Gancho takes a picture and sends it to Mateo who is
still working on his report about this case where the investigator turns out to
be part of the investigation.
At the Carvajal house, Lucía thinks (knows) Candela is lying. When
Candela tells her that the doctors don’t give her much hope, so Lucía suggests
she get a second opinion. Candela responds that it wouldn’t do any good because
the cancer is in the last stage. Ever since she found out about her illness,
she hasn’t been able to stop thinking of Lucía. Candela needs Lucía’s
forgiveness…and she needs her daughter. As Candela pushes back the check toward
Lucía, she tells Lucía that she need not say anything, she just came to see
Lucía…and to seek forgiveness. (OK, yeah, it's been nice, now GET OUT.)
At the company, (Groupo Carvajal) Montilla is interviewing
an employee when Johny calls over his “#1 fan.” Montilla chuckles and tells
Johny that he is there investigating Susana’s case and looking at drafts of
articles. Johny inquires if they have found out what substance killed Susana.
Montilla responds that the only thing they’ve been able to find out there at
the company is the gossip that is being passed through the halls. Once inside
Johny’s office, Montilla shares that on the day that Susana died, Susana
Freites had a very heated discussion with him. Johny thinks that “heated
discussions” should be a qualification for a CEO of the company because he has
intense discussions every day with his employees…it’s part of his job to have
discussion, but that doesn’t mean that he is a murderer. Montilla feigns
surprise that Johny would use the term “murderer” and asks if Johny thinks that
Susana was murdered. Johny doesn’t think anything, what he is sure of is that
in all these years that he has been working at the company, there have been
many employee deaths…and those are not his responsibility. Again, Montilla
wonders who told Johny that this was his responsibility, but now that Johny
mentions it, there is something that Montilla thinks should be his
responsibility. They found out about the articles Susana was writing. When
Johny points out that that was her job, Montilla indicates that this was a job
that Johny assigned to her…they were articles to promote the campaign of a
candidate for the presidency. Johny smirks and responds that Montilla is
touching upon a topic that does not concern him…it could even be illegal.
Montilla doesn’t back down and suggests to Johny that if he wishes, they can do
this legally, they can send him a subpoena so he can go to the station and give
his statement in a legal form as a suspect in a murder case. Johny counters
that Montilla isn’t hurting him because he has opened the doors of the company
to Montilla, he has never denied Montilla any information and this is not going
to be the exception. If Montilla needs information on Susana, he can go right
ahead and proceed. After Johny manages a strained thank you, Montilla
apologizes for all the inconvenience he has caused, but that the nature of
public service, it’s unappreciated. Montilla starts to leave, but turns around
and tells Johny not to worry because they are very close to finding Susana’s
murderer because they know for sure that on the day she was killed, she never
left her house. The murderer was so stupid that he took the poison there to
her…and he’s so close to catching him. As he exits, Montilla tells Johny not to
leave town. (Johny remembers WalMart has Depends on special until next week.)
Eva is leaving Alacrán’s hideout and thanks the goon for taking
care of him. Once she gets in her car, the goon assumes that she irritates
Gancho, but what irritates Gancho is that Alacrán could die. As Eva drives off,
Mateo quickly follows her and cuts her off. Eva wonders what he is doing there,
but Mateo demands to know what she is doing there.
Eva: I got lost…
Mat: Oh yeah, I suppose you were going to the hospital to see you
friend, right?
Eva: Yes…
Mat: No! You come here to see El Alacrán…
