Amar A Muerte, 2/15/19, Episode 72: They Can't Handle The Truth Or In Need Of A Few Good Believers

Parte 1~~

While Guillermo thinks back over and over again to his careless adventure at the liquor store, Dr. Camilo Guerra ponders his sleepless night and the mysterious, mystical events of the day before.  He and his housekeeper worry that members of La Sierra Cartel will return there in their search for El Chino.

El Alacran is planning on doing just that and says to Gancho, "--The old doctor doesn't have any idea of what's waiting for him!"

Lupita comments to Panchito that she's wondering where her poor daughter slept last night.  Could something have happened to her.  Panch tells Lupi not to worry, that the girl is old enough to take care of herself now.  (Viewerville thinks that should anybody attempt anything with Juliana, that nasty, rude and thankless bitch, it's them that need to be careful!)  Perla calls to inform Lupi that Jules slept there last night and is working there with her.  Panchito says let her alone for a while but Lupi will go to check on Jules without him.

Alicia is still having difficulty believing the tale Beltran, aka El Chino Valdez, has told her.  He recalls to her the different doctors, fortune tellers, shamans and witchdoctors he's gone to trying to learn how and why he was brought back from the dead and put into her husbands dead body.  All his strange disappearances, he admits, have been due to meeting these people and his looking for answers.

Valentina reaches out to Jules via text.

León, aka Jacobo, and Cam discuss the supposed "grave robbing" of the night before.  Jake admits digging up the grave but insists the body was not in the coffin to begin with.  Somebody must be walking around in his body somewhere!

More than likely, it's poor Beltran Camacho walking around in a daze somewhere nearby, thinks Leo.
The police arrive just then to take Cam in for questioning regarding his allowing El Chino Valdez to room in his house.  And, just around the corner, Al and Gancho lay in wait till the coppers have left the premises.

At the Carvajal manse, everyone is in the breakfast area when Val walks in.  She gets the news from Eva that her daddy's grave was robbed and the body missing.  Lucia says Montilla arrived early that morning with the bad news.  They believe somebody will ask for a ransom to get it and whatever valuables back.  Worst of all, the press already has wind of this.  More crazy bad publicity awaits the family.

Toño has been captured and is thrown into the same cell as Guillermo.  Toño won't take responsibility and blames his involvement because of Guille's need to maintain contact with the old liquor store owner.

Lucia is on the phone telling Johny the news and wonders if this will help distract them from pursuing Leon's murder.  Johny's solution: let's have sex.  She unceremoniously hangs up on him as he describes all the "nice" things he'd like to do while "spoiling" her.

Val and Lucho sit in the living room as she discusses her woes.  Jules walks in and sees Val leaning on Lucho's shoulder and storms out of the house.  Val races after her.

Barbara admits to Jake that she's been nothing more all these years than a faker reading Tarot cards to people--a professional con--until meeting Belchin.  Since that she's been made aware that there are supernatural mysteries and spirits all around them.

Alicia wants solid proof of what Belchin is telling her.  He agrees to bring her to meet the man that's now walking around in his, El Chino's body.

Eva is on the phone with Al.  He's pissed that Cam wasn't at the house to get answers from when he "stopped in".  Eva warns him that Cam is part of her family and Al better keep his hands off the guy.

Eva gets the news from the doctor that she's pregnant.  She's stunned and immediately wonders as she flashes back to her sexual encounters with both Al and Matteo, just who the heck is the baby's real father?

Guille learns from Captain Mendez that they've been charged with three separate crimes, and that the minimum time for the least of them is twenty-five years. Guille wants his lawyer.  Mendez tells him to get comfortable in that cell because neither his lawyer nor all his millions will get him out of this jam.

Cam tells Montilla that although the man in the picture is Chino Valdez and matches the looks of the man called Jacobo Reyes, he is not Chino Valdez.  When he explains about transmigration and that Jake came back from the dead in Valdez's body,   Montilla says Cam will also go to prison if he's been found to have helped hide Valdez in his house.  Also, he's scheduling an appointment with a psychiatrist for him.  In the meantime, tell his friend Jacobo--or Macario Valdez--to turn himself in.

End parte 1~~

Parte 2~~

Lupita is at Perla's restaurant when Jules shows up.  She snaps at Lupi for even bothering to show herself there.  Lupi begs her to come home.   Jules rudely tells her to go live her life and she'll gladly now live her own.  She's not coming back, period.  Lupe tells her to stop with the temper tantrums.  "--Stop being so impulsive--just like this with Valentina."  Jules snaps back it wasn't an impulse it was falling in love.  Lupi asks does she really know what love is?  Has she ever loved? Has she ever tried being with a boy? Has she ever had relations with a man?  "--A NORMAL relationship!  A man and a woman.  N.O.R.M.A.L.!"-- Has she liked girls from childhood?  Jules has to stop and think about that.  She admits she doesn't know.  (Well, if she'd met an alpha--even a beta--male instead of being thrown in with a pajama boy like Sergio, things could very well have been different.)  Jules admits she doesn't know if she's really gay or not.  "--So how did you let yourself get mixed up with a girl like Valentina?"  (Finally!  Somebody on the A-Team was allowed to give the opposing point of view.  Perhaps Jules got carried away with the exploratory committee...)  Jules spits back that she didn't get 'mixed up'!  She fell in love! (Ok.  Shades of Alice Cooper: I'm Eighteen! '..Baby's brain and an old man's heart...don't always know what I'm talkin' about...Feels like I'm living' in the middle of doubt...cause I'm eighteen!')

Cam takes a call from Leo, aka Jake, and says to dump the cell phone he's using and this number because the police will be tracking it now.  And, by the way, he told Montilla the truth, but he didn't believe him so anyway, Jake needs to know that Guille is in jail. "--What? Why????"

Val texts Jules back to try explaining if she'll give her a call.

At Grupo Carvajal, Lucia--still looking like she wore her dressing gown to work--and JC are to have a chat.  He compliments her on keeping the press away from Guille's grim circumstances when focusing so heavily on León's grave desecration.  She bemoans sarcastically that they're surrounded by scandals.  He ventures again into uncertain waters.  "--Good reason to accept my proposal and marry me.  We'll get away from Grupo Carvajal little by little..." and just leave it behind.  She side steps this and asks if he has any knowledge of why someone would take Leo's body like that.  He says nope, but Montilla says this is quite common in the D.F. and soon they'll probably get a ransom call.  But, he adds, what really bugs him right now is that Matteo thinks J.C. could have had something to do with Susana's death!  Lucia replies that she knows J.C. and it wouldn't do for him to go nuts over this.  They've got enough on their plate scandal-wise as it is.  He leaves but with a pinched ass look on his face.  She's definitely not the naive, emotionally abused and easily manipulated young girl he'd early on taken advantage of.  Curses!

In another office, Mayela crashes through Eva's closed door to ask about Guille.  Eva eventually is sweet talked into confiding to May that she's pregnant.  DoorMat walks in a bit later and May lets the news out as she leaves.  Mat is jumping for joy.  Eva's disgusted with the entire seen.  (So, is the big "A" in her future--and I don't mean El Alacran.)  FF>> FF>>

Speaking of Al, he now tells the gang that they'll only be taking his orders from now on, starting with constant surveillance of Grupo Carvajal and the Carvajal manse until El Chino shows himself.

Back at Perla's, Lupi tries speaking to Jules again to explain where she came from "it" wasn't considered "normal" and if she continues with Val then she's renouncing that option to have a normal relationship and family forever.  "--You think after the family I grew up in that I'd ever want to have myself family?  Just get out!  Go on! Leave!"

Alicia tells Octavio and Cristina about her discussion with Beltran.  They all agree that the accident has left her hubby with a severe personality disorder.  She doesn't know just how much longer she can live with somebody like that.

Back at Barbs, Belchin has come with groceries.  Barb shows him a picture of who Jake really was in the last lifetime--a famous millionaire!  Texans don't pay attention to these things, complains Belchin.  "I always wanted to be a millionaire, though.  How many millions you have?"  "--A lot..."  He grouses that yeah, he wanted to be a millionaire and was given this impoverished schoolteacher's lanky form instead and Leo gets to go around in his body.   León complains that somebody else has gotten hold of his body as it wasn't in the grave when they went digging. How unfair!  Chino knows at least where HIS body is, but Leo was left with zilch!  Just an empty coffin!  "--A lot of good the spirits are who're supposed to be on our side helping," agrees Belchin as La Muerte looks on, smiling.

In their cell, Toño and Guille are griping again to each other.  Toño tells Guille his millions will set him free, but he's got nothing and he was the one that shot that dude.

Out front in the reception area of the jail, sits Renata.  Finally Capt. Mendez arrives.  She tries giving him a bag full of homemade food and necessities for Guillermo but it's refused.  Barrato and Eva watch and listen from further back in the hall.  He's only obeying the law.  "--The law!  You know how many times the law is broken for bribes [mordidas]?  For once why not break it for something decent, for crying out loud!  For something humane!"  Barrato comments that Guille's lucky to have such a gal looking out for him.  Eva sneers.  The idea is to get baby brother out on bail ASAP.

At Perla's, Sergio shows up looking for Jules with news about Costa Rica.  He invites her for a stroll to discuss it all.  Perla is happy to let her go with Sergio.  Jules accepts.

Eva gets into her car and is kidnapped at gunpoint by Al.  She's acting strange with him and he's not at all happy about it.

In her office, Lucia tells Requena that Cardenas has sold his shares back to her.  This guy says he's gotten an email suggesting he shouldn't.  She tells him that it's probably from Eva whose ready to sabotage anything Lucia does with Grupo.  He says that remains to be seen and investigated.  Go right ahead and think it over, she says in such a serene tone you'd think Lucia would fall out of her chair and start snoring.  Requena says he'll give her his answer tomorrow.  She returns to her emails.  She gets one supposedly written by León:  " They stole my body.  Are you frightened?  Much worse was the knifing that Johny Corona and you did me in with the day of our wedding!!"

JC walks in and Lucia shows him the email.  "--it's got to be the same person who has been harassing us from the start.  "--Of course it is, and how much more do they know about them and what they've done?" "--But they don't have conclusive evidence or they'd have gone to the authorities by now."  Yes, and I keep repeating the very same mistakes: choosing men who murder!"  (I guess that's a "no" then, JC.)  Johny, flabbergasted, leaves her office.  She returns to the computer to ponder.

Comments:
I am still not understanding why Montilla would threaten Camilo over Jacobo. El Chino is not wanted in Mexico for any crime and the US released him as he has already been tried and sentenced, and his sentence was completed. He wasn't just charged for the Judge, but on many counts, that's why he was executed. Aside from questioning for various actions like the Armenta showdown, Mexico/Montilla has no charges against El Chino.

Exactly, Strangefire, Jacobo was not hiding. He is now, but from Alacran. Seems Johnny's venom has gotten to Montilla, though he will not acknowledge it.

Strangefire, welcome! ITA regarding Chino. Why do the writers ignore the American half of things? It makes better conflict but the fact is, when you survive your death setence you're let go, y punto. That's the American side of history via hangings. I don't believe anybody ever survived the electric chair, but precedent I was led to believe was based on surviving a hanging. Feel free to correct me.

We have those guys on The Big Bang Theory working on explaining what El Chino is wanted for, but they are stymied too. No, RGV not wanted THAT way, we get that, Blue Eyes, yada, yada, yada........................

:-)

Tellin' it like it is Jardinera:

'Lucia is on the phone telling Johny the news and wonders if this will help distract them from pursuing Leon's murder. Johny's solution: let's have sex. She unceremoniously hangs up on him as he describes all the "nice" things he'd like to do while "spoiling" her.'

I'm enjoying Lucia's total boredom with Johny at this point. She has no time for him. Period.

Also like Barbara's refreshing analysis of her previous life: "I earned my living as a total fraud. I TOLD PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANTED TO HEAR.

There are a lot of people who earn their living that way, but few ever acknowledge it. Enjoying Barbara almost as much as I enjoy Belchino.

Looking forward to part II. Is anybody else like me, totally chagrined when the little skeleton appears and I realize the episode is at an end. Still completely hooked on this story.

Welcome, Strangefire! glad you joined in! The whole patio agrees with you, I'm sure.

Hehehe, Kirby, you know me too well. That can be good, but not so good :-)

JudyB, yes! I'm totally chagrined with you..I always think, "What?! It's over already?"

More tomorrow...

Gracias, Jardinera. I'll be out this afternoon at the movies (55th Anniversary of My Fair Lady) so I'll probably catch up later.

Somebody must have botched the post-electrocution exam. I wonder how many times that happened in the past. Electrocution has a very low failure rate (1.92% from 1890 to 2010) so that exam should have been more thorough. I really hate the idea that he could get off scot free.

I truly fear for Camilo's life at this point. He doesn't deserve to die but I don't think these writers will spare him on those grounds.

And W T F ? Do these Carvajal people live in a shopping mall? Anybody and everybody just wanders in and out at will amid all this heightened security?

Lucho just congeals out of the mist to comfort Vale, then Juls just walks in? How do these people even go to the bathroom without interruptions. "Oh Hi. Um..while you are here, could you hand me a fresh roll of Charmin from in the vanity? I'm right in the middle and this one is empty. Yeah, thanks, gimme a second here while I finish the paper work. So...what's new?"

Montilla, Lucho, Sergio, Renata, JOHNY, everybody just walks in.

And Eva wonders who the Daddy is? Let's see...............

Mateo one quick utility Hop vs Alacran every day for months. In the bed, on the floor, on the hood of the car, in the car, in the kitchen, on the sofa, in the shower, in the yard, with rabbit watching, with guns, without guns, with lingerie on, with lingerie off, you name it, Alacran's rabbit thing makes more sense all the time.

Mateo resembles Daniel (mmtmf), he's prob shooting blanks anyway.

My oh my, whose could it be, witch?

Part 2 is up.
Yes, JudyB. I chagrin also when the skeleton opens and closes her arms. So soon? And, numerous props to the artist who painted that skeleton! T'ain't easy. -- I also have enjoyed the comic sparring between Jake and Belchin. These two actors have played so well off each other. I usually have to go back over the scene a couple times to catch it all, though, I admit. Even La Muerte had to chuckle.

Kirby: "Mateo's probably shooting blanks, anyway." I was hoping, now that you mention it, that El Al has nothing but blanks. Cosmic justice and all. Reverse on the reverse.

Urban: I hope the writers at least let Cam finish that second book before they off him.....

Thanks for the translation of "mordida" Jardinera. That one flew right past me, I was so busy being impressing with Renata's devotion and ability to change that prissy little officer's hard heart. She's far more than weak-willed Guille deserves, but that's who she wants so I'm on her side.

I'm sure, no matter what, that I am going to enjoy each and every episode of this until it ends. Lemon Studio and the actors are doing a great job. The only annoyance, for me, is the tuba riff they play every time Belchino does or says something funny. I mean, we get it! you don't have to hit us over the head with the musical cue.

Thank to, Jardinera.

I have enjoyed the comments, too. the

Kirby, I always appreciate your comments and the smiles they give me. #bunnies

Well, waiting for a wintery mix to start falling. I hope I will not have trouble getting to my friend's funeral tomorrow at 9. #ihatewinter

Some who have survived the electric chair

Kirby

I'd hate to be the one to keep all those windows clean of finger prints.

Good morning, Patio! Thank you, Jardinera, great recap of a great episode!

I do fear for Camilo; he was lucky I be hauled off for questioning. Hoping that luck continues, especially since he is in Death Chicks sight too.

Eva is gonna have quite a bit of a dilemma deciding what to do...will that be part of her anvil?

I just love to see Lucia and Johny squirm when they get those messages. I hope at least one of them ends up in a wheelcahir at a Looney bin counting imaginary butterflies.

Yes, yes, yes that is one of the more enjoyable non-Keila parts of this show, when Johny and/or Lucia are panicking squirming.

Lucia is already sort of shutting him down, I am looking forward to when he gets in her chipmunk face and gives her one of his trademark warnings, that something very unfortunate might hoppen to her if she messes with him.

Eva? I keep thinking of something like the Exorcist movie. As soon as it is born, it pulls off it's sunglasses, jumps out of the midwife's arms and tries to strangle Eva.

Jar--I wanted to wait and read both partes together. Rippin' good storytellin'. Thank you for the recap.

JudyBm Jar & RGV--Like I said earlier, this hour goes by faster than any other hour of the day for me (including the hour with Victoria). I mitigate the velocity by cranking up the DVR and watching the whole thing again, without commercials. (I miss a lot of 11 o'clock news that way.)

Kirby--"Do these Carvajal people live in a shopping mall? Anybody and everybody just wanders in and out at will amid all this heightened security?" Fabricio is just not very good at his job. He should have been fired a long time ago. But point well taken.

Since you've all mentioned it, watching Johny squirm has been especially satisfying. So far, he's stayed under the radar, but I think Montilla is onto him, or at least considers him in the same way we do, an annoying gnat to be batted away. Sooner or later he will get squashed.

After the message JC and LB got, besides raising the hair on the back of their necks, I wonder how they will cope. Lucia is the one believing the sender knows everything, but she hasn't sat down to mind-map the possible suspects. They've exhausted all the living ones, but each one of them can't know some of the details.

It wouldn't take much for Jacobo to talk to her and fill her in with more details only Leon knows, for her to believe he's Leon (Remember the Origami birds, Luci? Who else besides Silvi knew about that?). But then what? Is she just forgiven because she loves him? Does he love her and willing to forgive and forget? (How can you forget being shivved and shoved into another guy's body?) Maybe her way of showing her love and ultimately being forgiven is to help LCJ bring Johny down, with herself included.

Ultimately that doesn't solve Death Chick's mandate that he clean up the dust he left behind--namely "abandoned" kids while spends his time wooing Lucia for revenge. Maybe the WHOLE thing is tied to Belchie and LCJ working together to clean up two "Mexican" cartels featured in the show. Bringing Johny down is tangential to her purpose, but she's ok with it.

There must be an LCJ-related reason why Eva's pregnancy is brought into the story at this late date. Why make us worry about who's the daddy, when none of us really care. We just want to see her get her anvil. Ooops, guess you can't do that with an innocent child que no tiene la culpa de nada on the way.

Oh the baby lives, but he kills Eva trying to crawl back in. :-)

Ouch!

Good one, Kirby!
