Amar A Muerte, 2/22/19, Episode 76: Goons And Gálans To The Rescue

Parte 1~~

So, via Lucia's directive, the news gets out. Guillermo's stint in jail gets publicized nationwide with a sympathetic slant  (natch):  "--The young heir to the Carvajal news empire hoping to fashion his own road to success fell victim to a youthful and spirited horseplay which turned into a tragic accident.  As one can see (and of course, the liquor store owner and his wife just happen to be in the audience), the young man was not aware of what was about to occur and once he saw what his friend intended, he tried to avoid the gun play but the bullet went astray and tragedy struck.  Now all of Mexico is on the edge of their seat wondering what his fate will be."  Mrs. Liquorstore Owner angrily calls the news broadcast manipulative--and she ain't wrong.  Mr. Liquorstore Owner is thinking things over and seems to have a different twist on it all.

A bit later in the day, Valentina races into Montilla's office asking him to rescue Juliana from the same men who once kidnapped her mother.  He says he'll try but ain't promisin' nuthin'.  She races back out in a snitfit.

Bruj@ Barb, meanwhile, calls Beltran, aka Belchin', to let him know that Jacobo has returned and is waiting for him to show.  As he races through the house to leave, Alicia arrives to inform him that she's found another transmigrated person with the same butterfly mark on her neck.  She was the real Beltran's student, and mentioned this aloud during one of his lectures on transmigration theory.  "That's it!"  Belchin finally realizes the great connection.

Meanwhile, Jake makes a call to Camilo to see what's up with Guille and the settlement.  Cam's upset with things in general, says they cannot continue this way, and then he mentions Lucia came by and was in a bad way.  Jake figure's he'll be free soon (of what?) once he helps Belchin' rescue his daughter and will make plans to get back to Lucia.  "What plans for crying out loud? You're wanted by the police, by a drug cartel and Beltran is an outright criminal himself!  And now you're talking about the future???"  Jake adds by the by that he wants Cam to care for Guille as if he were his own.

Back at Belchin and Alicia's, she agrees to take hubby to meet the new trannie.  She explains how she listened to one of the talks the real Beltran gave about transmigration.  She wants to believe Chino and she wants to be in on the meeting with this past opera singer.  No problem.  He gives Alicia a meaningful and somber hug.

At Grupo Carvajal, Val now informs Lucia about Juls's kidnapping.  "--Nobody is going to do a thing!  Please publicize it?"  Of course!  Lead story!  Why not?

El Alacran continues to threaten Juls.

At the manse, Mateo continues writing his report and drinking a lot.  Eva walks in and finds he's in a grumpy mood.

At Barb's, Belchin decides to tell Jake about Alicia's discovery of the former opera singer.  The connection is that the real Beltran was a believer in transmigration and Chino was a devoted believer in La Santa Muerte.  Jacón says he had to die and come back to believe in it!  There's a follow up of where Chino figures he'll see her, La Santa Flaca (I think?).  Who knows, Chino answers, maybe in the hereafter.  Depends on how this turns out....and whether you survive.

At the safehouse, Lupita is hysterical over Juls's kidnapping.  She is convinced she alone needs to or can manage to rescue her daughter from La Sierra.  She skips out on Panchito and takes a cab there.

Belchin' and Jake arrive in the back area near La Sierra's hideout.  Belchin' pulls out his sited long gun and points it at Jake.  "--Sorry, dude, but you're the bait.  Hand over your phone.  Do it quick cuz I got a nervous trigger finger."

Back at the manse again, Eva and Mat argue about his researching the money laundering story. He hands her the information he printed out of the laundering purchases Grupo Carval recently bought, none of which were recorded in any of the official reports.  He reminds her he's got copies and plenty of backups of all the stuff. She gripes at him.  He gripes back that he researches a serious crime like this and all she can do is gripe that he refused to listen to her [commands to leave it all alone].  "Stop protecting whoever you're protecting!!" Eva swears there's nobody she has to protect and promises to look the reports over and to begin a proper investigation.  However, she emphasizes, nothing should be published because it would taint the entire organization.  "--Who do you think is behind this?"  "--You tell me."  Eva is quick to put the finger on Johny and Lucia.  With this information they'll be rid of those two and all the harm they've been causing the family.  She races off.  They'll have to talk about Baby and their future some other day.....

Val meets Lucho outside the manse grounds as she returns home.  He was there to invite her to eat.  She's too upset and he offers to use his geek skills to track Juls' phone.  Great idea, she says.  They get to it and eventually find the address.  Val calls Montilla to give him the information.  She gets a call that Lupi has run off to save the day so she and Lucho decide to drive there as well to see if they can be of any help --or perhaps just to gawk.  Who knows?  Seems stupid and dangerous to go anywhere near there.  Duh.  Val's a pretty naive and high strung eighteen  year-old, not to mention darned spoiled.

Lucia, finally alone in her office, remembers Jake's last words: his offer still stands and eventually she will understand what's what with the wife and kid.  She remembers Cam's words of wisdom as well.  She and Jake should have a long talk, like a couple of adults.  She dials Jake.  The phone rings and Chino hands it over to him.  He can't talk.  "--I'm in the middle of something but I will call once it's over--."  Chino grabs the phone out of his hand.  Click.

DoorMat watches secretly behind curtains as his wife systematically destroys the copies of the reports he handed her and calls "someone" on the phone.   Of course, that someone is Al, but he's too busy to stop and meet for a chat. "-- It will have to wait!" Click.

While Guille and Toño are waiting to get T to see the doctor, Renata gets an unexpected call from the attorney (we assume).  (She can now stop feeling guilty about not changing the bedsheets to keep inhaling Guille's comforting remnants of aftershave.)

Lupi gets out of the cab on a nearby street and walks through the bushes behind where she can apparently watch anything that happens at the hideout.

Parte 2

Belchin preps the trade by having Jake, aka León, call Al and chat him up.   Leo is worried he's going to be fish fodder by the time this whole thing is over and dreading the inevitable. Belchin' now coaches him on what to say and how to say it with feeling--to emPHAsize the seriousness of the occasion.

Back at Grupo C., Johny waltzes in and tries to be all Rhett Butler with Lucia.  She tells him off and he complains that she never used to fight him off--she used to love his charms.  Now she acts like she despises him.  She avoids him and when she does talk to him she uses such a pompous tone with him.  And...after all he's done for her.  "--What, am I to be your lifelong slave?"  "--No, but don't forget that I have stained my hands with blood for you."   "--No, Johny, don't go confuse things; don't blame me for your revoltingly loathsome ways of resolving your problems."  "--Seems you do forget somethings that it behooves me to constantly remind you of: your whole persona, that chair, your car, you owe it all to me!  And if I killed León it was all for you and don't you forget it!"  "--And have you stopped to consider that perhaps León is still alive?"  He tells her she's being foolish now.  She insists he think about all the strange things that have been going on recently.   "--Jacobo is hiding something and I am certain it has something to do with León!"

The meet is set.  Belchin', gun at Leo's back, orders him to start walking.   Leo's fully aware that in this instance he's literally swimming with the sharks and he's the chum.  Belchin' directs.  "--Make it real.  Don't look directly at them.  Now lower your shoulders and let out that animal inside you."  Leo looks around tells Belchin' the area isn't really secure enough and he's all out in the open.  Belchin' tells him he doesn't give a rat's patoot.  "--Yeah, but you understand it's your body that'll get plugged full of holes, right?" "--Just walk.  Walk!  I've got you covered."  León is not all that convinced, but gives it all up to the fates and walks ahead.  Al and his posse come around the bend of the road at that point with Juls stumbling a haf step ahead.  All guns are either on Leo or Juls.

Al demands his money and his USB.  Leo tells him he spent it all on tequila, whores and high priced hotels.  If he wants the USB "--that will have to wait for another meet.  Now let my daughter go!"  Al laughs and threatens to kill her right then and there because according to Al it's got to be now or never.  Viewerville holds it's breath as Al waits for a response, Lupi determines her next actions, and El Chino secures his aim.

Outside the city jail, Guille's lawyer tells Ren that the Castillo family has decided not to press charges.  Guille is freed.   Toñi must still stay behind and wait for his daddy's lawyer to deal with his case.

Back in the burbs,  León is playing for time.  Al wants his USB, period, or he'll first kill his daughter and then he'll kill him!  He throws Juls to her knees to make his point.  Just then loopy Lupi races out from the brush, hands in the air, and yells at them to please release her daughter.

Once again at Grupo, JC has stopped threatening and is now resorting to psychological warfare.  "--It is so easy to manipulate you.  That has always been your weak point."  "--And yours has been your pride.  You think you know me so well, that you know my every thought but no, Johny you don't.  And, I am master of my own destiny."  Again, he changes tack.  He smiles and suggests that his love for her is what counts most.  Therefore, he has gotten a true gift for her.  He goes to the door and motions for someone outside to come in.  It is none other than her mother, dressed in her floozie finest and hoping for forgiveness.  Memories of her appauling and abusive adolescence come rushing back to Lucia.

Al is shocked to learn that Lupi is alive and bleating.  He sends Gancho after her to finish her off once and for all.  Lupi runs back towards Val and Lucho screaming for her life.  Lucho puts himself in between and asks Gancho to calm down, they're only women afterall.  Gancho shoots Lucho in the heart and the head.  He takes aim at Lupi but Montilla's troopers appear at the top of the hill with sirens blaring.  Gancho races back towards Al and the others instead.  Leo suddenly says he's got the USB and Juls gets up and races off just then while people are stunned by the cops appearing.  Just as Juls crosses over to Leo, there's a shot and Al is hit in the gut thanks to Chino who took advantage of the moment and hit his mark.  León and Juls race into the brush and out of harm's way as the cops move in on Al and the gang.

Back in Lucia's office, JC feigns a good natured attempt at having tried cheering her up by bringing her mother to her.  With a shit-eating grin the size of the whole of the D.F. he says, "--I thought you'd like to get in touch with your roots again."  She spits back at him that she didn't need to see her mother again to remember the hell she came from. "--It's never forgotten!"

Montilla tries to get Val and Lupi to go with his men back to the station and away from danger.  Lupi refuses to leave without her daughter.  He screams back that they haven't a clue as to where she is right now and he doesn't need everyone there dead today.  Finally she gives up and joins Val.  Lucho and his lost valor are covered with a sheet.  (Viewerville wonders what's in store for this dead young hunky male who hated losing to a lesbian.  Visions of The Birdcage come to mind.)  Al and the gang find a nasty place in an abandoned/unfinished house nearby.  He's bleeding badly and in a lot of pain.

Back at the manse,  JC and Candela walk in and Candy wants to ask for forgiveness.  Lucia isn't having any.  Reinventing herself and pulling herself up out of the sludge cost her too much, not to mention the memories of all those filthy men in her bedroom.  Well, Candy says, "--my mother did the same to me and I did what I knew with you.  At least you escaped.  I still am back there, stuck in it. "  Lucia says she chose to stay in that slime when she didn't really have to.  Well, mama still wants a pass and a pardon.  Johny says it's time to stop blaming and make nice.  (Mr. Manipulator does it again.)

And, speaking of familial re-encounters, León and Juls have made it to safety.  She wants her mother. He's her father so--?  León says "--Look, there's no time for explanations.  This is your father!" Belchin' races up and gives Juls a giant hug.

Lupita dons cap and prepares to save her daughter.......Oh god...
This woman is annoying!

Loopi is still with us only because Death Chick can't find a fresh Armadillo to put all that grey matter into. :-)

Just a minor thing, but Vale got the call telling her Lupita went to the scene and then Lucho tracks HER (Loopy's) cell, not Juls'.
So sick of Lupe, and Lucho, and EVA. Ugh. Thank you to all the recappers for all of your hard work!

Thanks so much Jardinera. Got a kick out of this:

"Al is shocked to learn that Lupi is alive and bleating."

You DO have a way with words.

I see Lucho went the way of the "inconvenient spouse", in this case "novio". And as a rock solid Beltrino fan girl, I loved his heartfelt hug of Alicia and even more, of Juliana.

Telenovelas scriptwriters seem to love Contrast Scenes so I enjoyed how those deep hugs played off against the faux reconciliation attempt between Lucia and her mother.

Johny was at his finest, which is to say his worst, last night as he tried twisting the knife with Lucia. Now on to Eva's guilty disclosures. Can't wait till Monday!

Wishing everyone a good weekend, especially our hard-working recapper. Can't imagine trying to do this without closed captions.

Hopefully, the grammatical and typos are fixed now. This episodio had some truly funny scenes and lines during the buildup to and even during the Big Meet. I enjoyed the way the actors played off each other. The timing was great. I couldn't write all of that into this so, my apologies. Judy, I did notice the contrast of the two errant parent reunions. Johny knew exactly how to get back at Lucia--it's a chess game alright. Cam has warned Lucia. Let's see if she took any of that to heart.
------

Strangefire, thanks for clarifying that error. Lupi is a Luuzer, ITA.

Thank You Jardinera, I suppose old nutty Loopi actually served some useful purpose in spite of herself. And not that I hunt, but deer and other game hunters are known for precisely placed head shots at hundreds of YARDS, using consumer rifles. That thing Belt had looked to be from outer space, he couldn't cleanly bring Alacran down? Send BillyBob next time, or Jethro.

OK, so Johny drags in Lucia's Mom, to rub salt into the wound. He has threatened Lucia, and made it clear he is NOT her friend. Then why on God's Green Earth are FloozieMom and Johny still birddogging Lucia after work at her house? She has security. Lock them out. If they try to come in anyway, shoot them. That is what security does. Security....root word, secure.

At least Mat has sense enough to not put all his cards on the table, and even thought to peep/listen in on Eva as she tore up the documents and called Alacran. I am on pins and needles every time he is near her for fear he will weaken and suddenly blurt out everything to Eva, and allow her to cover her tracks.

Kirby: "fear he will weaken and suddenly blurt out everything to Eva, and allow her to cover her tracks" I still think he will let it fly and she may have a last go at saving herself but she may go down with Al.

I want to know if Lucho will end up singing at a transvestite bar and if Al will end up as a nun in some strict convent since we know the telenovela gods have got to have him die from that wound if there's to be any justice. (JMO)

Jardinera: I hope Matteo made millions of copies.... sending some to the TV News Stations.

Kirby: Lupita is an IDIOT. Why can't she just DIE ? I'm sick & tired of her nagging.

Judy: I hope Death Chick makes an appearance on Monday Night.

Loved having such an exciting episode to re-live on a now-sunny Sunday afternoon. Thank you for taking all those bullets for us. It was confusing until you straightened out who had a bead on whom.

All the comments so far have zeroed in on the best of the best and all the explanations. Nothing more to add to the philosophical or psychical aspects.

So, Belchin just "happened" to have some sort of assault weapon conveniently in the back of his old jeep Cherokee. He must have gone to a flee market to buy it. I did feel sorry for him, because his glasses kept getting in the way.

It was a bit jarring, though, to see Mme Candy in full 'ho regalia in Luci's office and then more modestly dressed and her hair not quite as bleached in her house. Did Johny take her shopping and to the beauty parlor before breaching the Carvajal Manse security? Can Johny get any worse? After this demonstration of "love," Lucia will probably want Jacobo back, sicario, wifey, daughter or not.

Loved the after-lives of Lucho and later on, surely Al.

JaJa--"flee" market. Spell check didn't catch that one. But it sort of fits.

Loved, loved, loved Beltran coaching Jacobo on what to say over the phone to Alacran! It was hilarious. I bet those two actors had a ball filming that scene! Didn't like Lucho, but come on, writers! Poor kid didn't deserve to die like that. They could have had Montilla show up a couple of seconds earlier! Valentine's guilt is going to fly off the charts, since he was there for HER!

They couldn't have gotten rid of moody juliana instead? Tired of seeing her sulking face all the time. Or even lupita? She's worthless too. Lucho was way more interesting than those two idiots combined.

Don't care about the chipmunk's mother storyline at all, nor do i feel any sympathy for her past suffering either. Still waiting for her huge anvil, if it ever hits at this point. Seems like the writers are working on getting her a freebie. Unless jacobo really is setting up the tramp.

If Alacran dies, does Eva walk scotfree? She can still spin a tale and have mateo fall for it.

Great recap Jardinera.

I like how the comedy in this novela only presents itself a little bit at a time.
Beltran and Jacobo phoning El Alacrán was so cute.

Please writers, don't knock off Mateo.

So what's the purpose of bringing Lucía's mother on board this late in the game? She's just as obnoxious as Johny.

By the way, Lupita is as unattractive here as she was in LQLVMR. At the beginning, I even thought she would be the death chick in the credits where butterflies galore spring out from her arms! The woman has a skeleton face, IMO.

Looking forward to Monday's program!!

Will Lucia forgive Candela? Will Candela give up the bad lifestyle if forgiven?

Great work, Jardinera. My favorite: It is none other than her mother, dressed in her floozie finest and hoping for forgiveness.

I was wondering what took so long, since we had not been told what happened to Candela after Lucia got away. Despite my issues with Lucia, she doesn't deserve this. No woman who shoves her daughter into prostitution deserves forgiveness.

Alacran could be the next transmigrante, but I don't want a sequel to this. Lucho didn't deserve to die, as his sins were not enough to merit that. Not to mention the shit Valentina is likely to get from his parents.

I also don't want Mateo to die, either.

Candela and Johnny are worst persons here.

Good Morning, Patio! I'm late to the party, but now here. Thank you, Jardinera, for such a fine recap filled with your so many of your personal gems.

So they bring in a new character, floozie Candela, during the last capitulos. Being that JOhny brought her, I highly doubt that she is sincere about wanting to be forgiven; I'm sure he paid her a nice penny to do whatever he hasp planned. UA, "No woman who shoves her daughter into prostitution deserves forgiveness." ITA!!

I agree that Loopi and Juls are quite tiresome and annoying. Can't they just send them off to Costa Rica...like yesterday?

Beltrino continues to steal the show. It must very challenging for the actor to be be the oh-so-loving father to Javier one moment and then the next be this gruff, mean sicario who is trying to save his daughter. It's like playing a split personality. Great acting skills!

Regarding the rifle, the first time we saw Beltrino with a rifle was in San Antonio. Being that he is a "famous" shootist, El Chino must have had an arsenal hidden away. Maybe he brought it back with him when Santos crossed him back into Mexico...Barbara was sleeping on top of them LOL

To continue--I think Barbara is doing a fantastic job, too. The reformed fake fortune-teller into Medium with a liking for icy blue eyes.

If Alacran does get his anvil soon, he might have just enough time to spill the beans on EvilEva. She needs to be in line for her own anvil. I need these people to deal what they have sown. Please ... A big PSA on paying for your crimes .

I think mama was brought in to make us remember Lucia's bad childhood and feel sorry for her and want her to have a happy ending. . I think that she and jacobo are both going to transmigrate into young lovers ' bodies and sail off into the sunset.

Sunny and very windy here. My cable has gone out twice, and I have lots of small branches to pick him in the front and back yards tomorrow. Another wintry mix is predicted here on Wednesday. Ugh uff meh

RGV Chick: Why do I get this weird feeling we're NOT going to have a happy ending based on what Psychopath Johnny is cooking up ?

Just had a flashback to the Jacobo confrontation with El Alacrán (cause I rewatched it). In truth LCJ, Lupe and Vale would probably be dead if it hadn’t been for Lucho finding Lupe’s location and Vale’s calling it in to Montilla. It was Montilla’s arrival that disrupted everything, scattering El Al’s goons and giving Belltie a clear shot to Al himself. He probably won’t die just yet. Can’t wait until tonight.

My mistake on Candy--she didn't change her outfit when she showed up at the Carvajal manse with Johny. She just covered the leopard print with a modest little black shrug. That's probably how she got past Fabricio and Silvina.

"I think mama was brought in to make us remember Lucia's bad childhood and feel sorry for her and want her to have a happy ending. . I think that she and jacobo are both going to transmigrate into young lovers ' bodies and sail off into the sunset."

Nice ending ❤Susanlynn ❤

I am feeling sorry for Luci.
