Mi marido tiene más familia Wednesday 2/13/19 Capítulo 107 A Tale of Three Dinners--OR--Temo Delivers Yolo's Comeuppance

Imelda and Crisanta sit and compare notes on Massimo. Imelda doesn't know how she could have been so blind. Crisanta says he was always so mysterious. Imelda calls him a liar. Crisanta calls him shameless.   Imelda calls him an Italian criminal. After they have shared yet another man, Imelda suggests that they just should be friends. Crisanta cannot see why. Imelda calls it all a tragedy. They will never be the same. "Or allies" adds Crisanta.  Crisanta sees Guido and calls him the accomplice. The women go after him.

Guido asks Nonno what his two novias are doing together. They are angry. What happened?  Nonno says they gave him a "cold water bath."  Guido corrects him saying that it was more like a "cold mezcal bath." Nonno admits he deserved it. He knew this day would arrive sooner or later.  Guido reminds him that you get burned playing with fire. Nonno agrees, sits and cries.

All of the kids tell Temo the prank is all ready. All of them are excited. Temo states that Yolo has no idea about what is going to happen.

Neto tells Grecia he felt like he had to return to Oaxaca and to this building for some reason. Eugenio not only knew his mother but was in love with her. She was his first love. He has to go as does she.

Blanca and Eugenio have been arguing. Blanca tells Eugenio she doesn't want to fight any more especially now when is when they should be united. She just wants him to understand how she feels. Dani comes out and complains about the shouting. They are going to wake the babies. Linda follows. Blanca is more  than happy to tell her daughters what is going on.  Their father had another great love some Yolo. He corrects her and says her name was Yolotl.  She tells him it is all the same. Eugenio explains Yolotl was a woman from his pst who left town and was never heard from again.   Blanca is angry that she never heard about her since she was somebody important for Eugenio. Dani doesn't understand fighting over something so long ago. Eugenio says it was many many many years ago. Blanca mocks him and shushes him.

As Susana arrives home, she calls Axel to tell she needs to see him first thing at work tomorrow. They need to talk seriously about work.  She goes into her house and Pancho appears in his best yellow suit. He has set up a candlelight dinner for Susana. She is impressed.  He starts some classical music. He models his new suit accessorized with a red tie and kerchief. He welcomes her to a private bachelor/bachelorette party all alone just for the two of them.

Yolo  has come down and is waiting for Ari at the apartment door.  The kids tell her to wait for them to tell her when she can come in.

Guido is happy that the beautiful and smart Linda has accepted his dinner invitation. She says it looks very delicious. She needs his help with a girl who she works with at the foundation.  Of course, he will help her. She suggests she set the table so they can talk. Guido takes out the antibiotic capsule and thinks back at Axel asking if he could slip it to Linda somehow.

The kids are now in the hall with Yolo.  She says she is ready and is all smiles. Finally,  she can come in. She sees "Ari" in his basketball uniform turned away from her.  Julio is recording everything on his phone. She says she is ready. "Ari" turns around and it is Temo with a wig.  Temo says he is ready to be against her.  Julio makes sure he gets a closeup of the shocked and smoldering Yolo.

Imelda thinks back at what Nonno told her and wonders how she could have believed him.  As Imelda prays for a loyal man, there is a knock at her door.  It is Eugenio. He is there to find out the truth about Yolotl.  He says she knows everything that happened and about everything she did to keep Yolotl away from him and his brothers.  Imelda wonders where all this came from.  He says it was Neto and that when Yolotl left Oaxaca without a trace she was pregnant. Imelda says nothing.

Temo tells her that she is not going to meddle in his relationship with Ari. They now have her on photos and videos. She wonders why he is so insecure about Ari. Temo says he is not insecure. She wants to know then why he staged all this. Temo only wanted to make things  clear. He and Ari are a couple whether she likes it or not. He knows that she kissed his novio to be annoying.  She calls him Tomi twice and a seething Temo corrects her. Yolo insists that if he were not so insecure he wouldn't be worried about a girl like her. As she turns to leave, Temo tells her that maybe if she had a life of her own she wouldn't be sticking her nose into everyone else's.  Yolo turns back around. Lupita tells her she will not be messing with her brother or Ari.  Julio is still recording the whole interchange to post on the internet.  Lupita says that is so  when Yolo gets to school everyone will know what a pain she really is and a bully on top of it all. Yolo looks upset.

Eugenio tells Imelda that he needs the truth. He has found out that Neto's mother's name was Yolotl.  Imelda asks why it would be the same Yolotl. He asks her how many Yolotl Rey's does she know. Imelda tells him the only woman that he should be concerned about is Blanca the love of his life. Neto asks her if Yolotl was pregnant when she left. Imelda has a vision rom the past: a girl following her across the plaza in front of the church calling after her and speaking to her in Spanish and Nahuatl. The girl was telling her that she was pregnant and needed to talk to her sons.  Imelda told her to leave her sons in peace. She did enough damage already to her family. Imelda looked the girl up and down and told her to stay away from her family. Yolotl kept shouting that she was pregnant and her sons needed to know. Yolotl fell to her knees as Imelda kept walking leaving her behind crying on the pavement.  Imelda lies and tells him that when Yolotl left she said she didn't say anything about being pregnant.  Imelda adds that if the same Yolotl is Neto's mother, Neto's  father could be anybody.

Yolo chases Julio around trying to get her hands on his cell phone. Temo shields the younger children and warns her not to get into it with the kids. They were all united and at peace until she arrived in the building. He tells her she can get out and go away.  Yolo pledges to make their lives impossible.  Temo says fine by him. Julio is still recording. Lupita says the video will go viral and that will be good so people will be wary of her.  Yolo lunges again to get the phone.  They all protect Julio as they count down together to post the video in the internet. When it is posted, they all laugh. Yolo calls them fools and threatens  that they will pay her back. Frida is worried they went too far.  Sebas declares a knock out. Temo thanks them all.

At Susana's, Pancho and Susana have a lovely dinner. Although they may be living under separate roofs, he wants her to know they are together more than ever. There is champagne. Pancho says is is their own private bachelor/bachelorette party because the wedding is only days away. Susana doesn't know how private it is going to be when Crisanta and Grecia arrive. He already took care of that and it will be a while before they will be back home. He cannot wait for her to be his wife and to introduce her as Mrs. Córcega de López. They toast to their wedding and their life together as husband and wife.

Guido talks to Axel and says he did as he asked as he looks at the antibiotic capsule. Axel says it should work without any problems. Guido says that is good and that that will be their secret. Axel says he still plans on telling Linda the truth. Guido says it is good for him to be honest with her. It could happen to anyone. He thanks Guido. He owes him.

Linda cones back from using the washroom and they sit down to eat.  Guido says he just got a call from his cousin Clarisa who told him something serious. He will Linda   but only if she promises to keep it a secret.  He doesn't want Linda to think he is a traitor. Clarisa has chlamydia and she told him she got it from Axel.  Linda thinks back on the call from Clarisa. Guido says Axel is under treatment but it surprised him so much.  Suddenly Linda has lost her appetite and has to leave.  Guido doesn't want her to think badly of him. She doesn't and assures him that they will see each other another day. After she is gone, Guido sits down and is clearly satisfied with the results of his meddling.

Susana and Pancho discuss more about the  the upcoming wedding. It isn't that Susana doesn't like his yellow suit but she was hoping he would choose something a bit more formal and elegant for the wedding. He agrees and lets her know that he has an appointment for his vasectomy.  They end up kissing.

Imelda advises Eugenio to let the past go. She turns the topic to what happened with Massimo and how she cheated on her with Crisanta her worst enemy. He was just another old man playing with her feelings. Eugenio is upset because Massimo assured him he would never hurt Imelda's feelings. Eugenio says Massimo will have to pay for what he did. Imelda smiles.

Andi tells Santi about some attack that happened at school. He and Santi decide they will have to investigate.  Yolo comes in all upset. She goes online and there is the video that Julio posted with the title: #Lady Acosadora (Lady Stalker).  She tells her brothers how she was set up and now the video is on YouTube.  In defense of their sister,  the twins say the kids will all find out who the Rey twins are! Yolo nods.

Ari asks Temo why he did it. Temo says somebody had to put Yolo in her place.  Ari sees it as just more proof that Temo doesn't trust him or them.  Temo asks that Ari not fight with him because that is exactly what Yolo wants. Ari is angry with him and the kids. It is just ridiculous. He disappears into his own apartment.

Linda goes to see Axel at the hospital. He goes to approach her and she tells him not to.  She asks if it is true. He asks what?  Clarisa said that she (Linda)  had to talk to him and she knows what he has. He admits he has chlamydia. Someone gave it to him and he most likely gave it to her.

Dani is with the babies and Blanca. Blanca explains about her father never mentioning Yolotl when she must have been important to him.

Linda won't even sit next to Axel. He apologizes but that isn't enough for Linda  She reminds him that they broke it off because he wanted to see other people.  Did he start seeing other people before he told her he wanted an open relationship?  He says no. Linda is so disappointed in him for not taking care of himself or her. He says she is totally justified in feeling as she does.  He says it is curable. She tells him it was totally preventable. He says she should get checked out by a doctor. She will on her own.  She wants nothing from him and he better not come around wanting to see her again.

Eugenio thinks back of meeting Neto and what he told him.  Neto comes home still sad seeing his children living in their present situation.

Linda checks in with Dani, the babies and Hermoso.  Dani asks how dinner was with Guido. linda says okay. Linda is just tired nothing else.  Dani says she can always trust her if she ever needs to talk.

Massimo tells Guido he has been left all alone. He thinks back on Imelda and Crisanta pouring bottle after bottle of mezcal all over him. He thinks back on himself as a fool. Guido does not agree and reminds him that Nonno always has him. Nonno has decided that he doesn't want to live in this  place anymore. He tells Guido to find them a new place to live.  Nonno wants a new house, a pretty house  with no memories.  Money is no concern. Guido comes to life. He will find them the best house.

Eugenio and Blanca are in bed. He asks her if she wants to talk.  She asks why? He has alwasys kept something  hidden from her.

Hugo is in bed. Diana asks what is up. He says she finally got her job back just like she wanted.  She says he can be back to being the PE teacher. He says that is not the point. The principal job make him feel really important.  Now the power in the relationship has gone back to her but that is okay by him because she does deserve it more. He congratulates her as she looks sad and guilty.

Susana looks at and caresses he wedding dress as Pancho looks at his wedding suit.  We see neither article of clothing.

Dani is with her crying babies. They are finally fed and put to sleep Andi wakes up Neto to tell him he fell asleep sitting up. He cares about his father. Andi will tell Neto  a story. It is about Neto the father who is the neta (the real thing) who never gives up.  The story  has a happy ending. It will be their happy ending.

The next day, Neto needs to go to work at the distillery. He tells his children to stay out of trouble while he is gone. As soon as he leaves, the twins tell Yolo they have a plan to get back at Temo and the kids for wha they did to her. It is time for operation revenge. Yolo tells them that the building has a basement. The twins are on their way  to the basement and Yolo can stay up in the apartment so nobody will suspect her being involved.  Technically she won't be to blame. Yolo is happy.

Polita's lawyer brings her a summons to appear at a custody hearing for little Arqui. Polita tells Ari about Imelda wanting to boot them out of the building and to get custody of little Arqui. Polita will attend the hearing. Ari cannot believe his own grandmother is doing this to them but again he remembers what she did to Blanca and the family when Juan Pablo went missing years ago. Now that Polita has another job selling the nutrition juice drink and Ari has two jobs, Ari and Polita cannot see there being a legal reason to take Arqui away unless it is because Imelda and Audi are just close minded and judgmental.

Eugenio apologizes to Grecia for what happened at the house yesterday. She understands that Blanca was bound to find out about Yolotl sooner or later.  He cannot get Neto Rey out of his mind. Neto is 40 and his mother was Yolotl Rey. Eugenio just has a feeling that Neto could be his son.

I so enjoyed Yolo's comeuppance and Temo as nasty as he was. Julio sure enjoyed taking that video.

More later.

Excellent title Jarifa. The recap? Beyond...

“Blanca mocks him and shushes him”, “Guido comes to life” and “the neta (the real thing)” were among many favorites.

“Imelda adds that if the same Yolotl is Neto's mother, Neto's father could be anybody”. Just dreadful. We know what Imelda was like but still, her cruelly dismissing Yolotl had me cringing nevertheless. Even though Yolotl did say “sons”, I am betting (hoping) Eugenio is Neto’s father.

“Julio makes sure he gets a closeup of the shocked and smoldering Yolo”. Julio was at his impish, smarmy smiling best last night. Revenge on his brother whom he loves. Honestly? I was hoping for something that would have us laughing, and this wasn’t quite it. “She wonders why he is so insecure about Ari”. Well that truth nail was hit on the head, wasn’t it? A prank borne of insecurity and loathing didn’t have the foundation to be successful. I sensed right away Ari was not going to be happy.

I suspect the twins have something better/worse in store for poor Temo. I hate that Temo's face mirrors every ounce of the agony and resentfulness he is feeling internally.

“It isn't that Susana doesn't like his yellow suit but she was hoping he would choose something a bit more formal and elegant for the wedding”. Susana is so sweet. I would have told Pancho flat out he was not wearing that school bus yellow suit to the wedding. No way. No how. :)

“Now the power in the relationship has gone back to her…” Well Hugo, you are right, even knowing half the story. And here I thought Imelda was controlling. She has nothing on Diana.

I find it hard to believe that Eugenio never mentioned Yolotl to Blanca. And while it's too late now to reverse the initial shock, they should have a serious conversation. While she might cool down over a long ago romance, learning Neto is Eugenio's son is going to make a far more hurtful sting.

Jarifa, you would make the sun shine on the cloudiest day. Thank you!

Diana

Thanks, Diana! Yes, child actors are truly outstanding. “Julio was at his impish, smarmy smiling best . . .” “ . . .Temo’s face mirrors every ounce of the anger and resentment he is feeling internally.” At least, no matter the motivation, Yolo has been put on notice. I liked that. I so hope she gets negative attention at school. The revenge devised by Andi and Santi should be interesting.

Thank you for your recap, Jatifa. Great title, too!

Pancho looked like Big Bird in that suit. 🐥. Even his hair was styled in a duck tail look. Hubby walked thru the room, saw the suit, and declared it obnoxious.. There was also enough food on the table to feed an army.. Qué???

Young Imelda looks nothing(!!!) like Old Bat Imelda. Liar, liar, pants on fire!

Yolotl "doing" two brothers at the same time is just ... ew.

The whole Temo/Yolo situation is raising good points about bullying.

Linda has to take some responsibility for the consequences of Axel not using protection. "No glove, no love."

Little Arqi playing with the abacus was so cute. He might be a math genius.

Sorry, I typed "Jarifa" and aotocorrect insists on Jatifa. Caray! 😜

Jarifa: Guido better get his anvil sooner or later.

I agree, Steve! Guido is bad news.

You had me laughing doris. Did either Pancho or Susana have even a bite???? What a waste.

And yes, although Yolotl seemed to be "seeing" both bros at once, neither seems to be in the slightest bit angry with the other, do they? Kind of looking for a bit more history here.

Jarifa, honestly, I did not feel the slightest bid badly for Yolo. I felt for Temo who I suspected was hurting himself far more than he realized. He and Ari need to break up. At least for now. Interesting also that Temo calls Diego and am glad the two are friends. Diego showing good sportsmanship and a kind heart. Temo is going to be emotionally destroyed if things continue because Ari doesn't want any of the drama.

Diana

“Dr” Axel..... this plot line sickens me...Mommy boy....

Steve, I think I can hear his anvil being forged somewhere out there. Since he is such a nasty villain, it will probably take some time to forge just the right one.

doris, I never heard "No glove, no love". That is good one! As for Temo's prank, that was a public service beyond an announcement. Everyone in the story should be thanking him. I wonder why nobody else has been willing to take Yolo on. Bullies only understand strength that matches or exceeds their own.

Anon, this novela is loaded with "mommy boys": Eugenio, Tulio, Audifaz, Hugo and Axel. I am including Eugenio because he joined Imelda and blamed Blanca all of those years for losing Juan Pablo and did nothing to help Dani when Imelda basically punished her for being born by ignoring her birthday, etc.

Diana, ITA that Temo has some growing up to do. I love ArisTemo.

Jarifa - that phrase comes from one of my "inner teenager's" favorite movie "Booty Call." 😉

Jarifa, I loved “A tale of 3 dinners” title. So fitting! I was up and busy when I had the show on and making a pot of my Mexican chicken soup. When Crisanta called Mássimo “shameless”, she used the words, “sin verguenza”. I remember my mother using those same words when describing a man who cheated on his wife or flirted with another woman. I loved seeing the two women sit there together actually agreeing with one another.

Oh and Jarifa, you are so right about this show being filled with “mommy’s boys.” Imelda is a control freak and wants to be in control of her all her adult son’s lives and they allow it!

Did anyone notice how the “young Imelda” looked a lot like our teenaged Yolo?

Doris, ITA about “Yolotl "doing" two brothers at the same time is just ... ew.” And I think that little Arqui is probably a lot smarter than his father. I’m sure he is a math genius.

"Did anyone notice how the “young Imelda” looked a lot like our teenaged Yolo?"

Nopis. I did not. What an astute observation Cynthia! Do you think it was the actress? I really wish they would replay that scene. Probably not. We will get to see endless replays of Axel and all other dreck we don't care about. :)

Diana

Great title Jarifa and another well-crafted, kind-hearted recap. Like Diana, I was absolutely horrified by Pancho's banana-yellow outfit which he evidently found quite elegant. I suspect there are going to be many moments in their future when she has to use tact and discretion to get her point across about his fashion choices. Still can't picture these two together.

And oh my... Imelda! I had the impression that her cruelty had started in this "Más Familia" version, but clearly now her venom and unkindness goes back decades. What an unpleasant character.

I did enjoy hearing the expression "lo que no fue en tu año no te hace daño" except that clearly it did hurt Blanca to have had that vital information withheld. If Eugenio has told her about it when they were dating, it would have been different. However I'm sure that will be resolved soon as are all kerfuffles in this story.

And now I have a new English phrase, "No glove, no love". Doubt if I will have an occasion to use it though!

Thanks Jarifa. And boy! wish I had some of that soup Cynthia. Sounds delicious. After 50 years of cooking non-stop, I am so sick of the dishes that I make.

Diana - no I did not notice the resemblance between Yolo and young Imelda. Good observation! Perhaps they used the Yolo actress with hair and makeup to age her a bit? Now I wish I had not deleted this from my DVR after watching,so I could look closer.

Jarifa, thanks for another wonderful recap.

About Pancho's "school bus yellow" or "banana-yellow " suit, I actually liked it, sort of... But not to wear to a wedding, unless the wedding was of two clowns taking place at the circus.

Wardrobe must have had fun making that suit.

Susana must be madly, madly in love; there is no other explanation.

And I think it looked like Linda still has feelings for Axel, despite everything. I'm not sure that romance is finished. Axel? Axel? There must be something in the water, or the mezcal, in Oaxaca.

andy

Diana and doris, you prompted me to go to the DVR. It looks like they used some other young, very good-looking woman to play young Imelda. Very good-looking and every bit as heartless as the older Imelda. She just coldly told young, crying, desperate, pregnant Yolotl to be gone, stay away from her son(s). And walked away.

Cold, cold, cold.

andy

I think Imelda is a lot like my grandmother who died in 1960, I was too young to remember her. Anyway, she was from Mexico and I’ve heard so many stories about her. From some members of the family, she was a saint who did everything for her family. To others, she was someone who could make your life miserable if she didn’t like you or if you weren’t “right” for one of her children. She meddled a lot in her children’s lives when they reached adulthood. I know with one uncle, she absolutely HATED the woman he married. She didn’t like her looks and didn’t like her hair. She interfered so much that they divorced. I know this is going to sound really racist, but she being light skinned would reject any potential marriage mates for her children who were “too dark skinned”. She didn’t want anyone in the family to marry what they used to call back then “Indians” now called indigenous people or native American. In her eyes, they were low class, too low class for her. (And she and my grandfather were POOR!) But the thing was, they didn’t want the gene pool to be shared with anyone indigenous. I see that Imelda’s rejection of Yolotl is pretty much the same thing. And she didn’t care of Yolotl was carrying her grandchild, to her, it was a contaminated gene pool being shared. It was very mean and cruel. And she would shun her children for going against her wishes.

Cynthia, you are so right about Imelda's rejection of Yolotl being rooted in classist and racist views. I think they did a nice job of portraying that. Thank you for sharing some of your own family history. It does't matter where you are. These social/racial pecking orders just seem to appear. "Blackish" this season had a very good episode on "colorism."

Andy and JudyB, if Pancho is not wearing the yellow suit, I wonder what he will be wearing to the wedding. I wonder what kind of meaning "elegant" has for him. Hmmmm.. . Just hoping he makes a better choice but can Susana count on it? Maybe she should have specified a color like black, grey or navy blue.

Cynthia, thanks for your "Tales of the Grandmother". We all have some family stories, unfortunately. I often think of Rodney King's "Can't we all just get along?" It seems we can't, sadly.

Jarifa, Susana is not controlling like Imelda or Diana, but Pancho would actually benefit from a little of that. I'm repeating myself, but it must be very blind love with Susana. Still, I've heard it said that women often don't mind overhearing "What does she see in him?" But can never stand to hear "What does he see in her?"

:-)

:-)

andy

Andy, yes it must be “very blind love” and you can repeat it all the times you want.. 😊 The funny part for me is that I have seen similar couples in real life. While I am shaking my head in amazement, they are still married.

Andy - thank you for checking your DVR!

Cynthia - your grandmother's thinking reflects who she was and the societal values of her time, but in no way does it reflect on you, at all. It is what it is.

In my adult English conversation classes, maybe ten years ago, we had a university educated woman from Mexico. Her hubby was here on assignment with an international corporation. She told us the local county school (or might have been the teacher) had this woman's children indicate they were "black" on forms because "they were not white." This, in my opinion, was wrong because they had zero African ancestry. The kids were confused, the mother was upset and I could not believe they were forced to put an incorrect answer on school forms. I hope the school system has since changed their forms to include more diverse backgrounds.
