MaameAdwoa, I'm sorry we haven't recapped Betty en NY. There just hasn't been a lot of interest on Caray for this novela. Here in the US, the basic plot of Betty has been shown three times. We will be back with recaps when La Reina del Sur 2 begins in April.
Whew! I'm glad tonight's episode is over. Having seen the original version of La Reina del Sur, I knew what was coming. I didn't want to say anything ahead of time, since the policy on CarayCaray is not to discuss any sort of spoilers, and I suspect there are people who are watching this abridged version in preparation for Reina 2 and haven't seen the original. Anyway, I was NOT looking forward to tonight's episode. IIRC, this is the last really awful thing that happens.
I gotta say, though I'm not enjoying the violence, I AM enjoying watching this abridged version. True, I don't think it's nearly as good as the original. It's too rushed, the pacing is all wrong, the characters and relationships don't grow in this speeded up version, but still... Someone coming to Reina for the first time may not feel the magic of the original, but s/he will have a good idea of what happened.
I had hoped that there would be more discussion of this version of Reina, both by people who have seen the original and by people for whom the abridged version is their introduction. Anyone have any thoughts? Things you like? Things you don't like? Things that puzzle you?
