Mi marido tiene más familia Wednesday 4/10/19 Capítulo 144 The Verdicts Are In

Frida is having a rummage sale outside of the apartment building. The Rey twins come along and apologize for what they did at the "Flower of Oaxaca".   She will forgive them if they buy a lemonade from her. They do and then announce that they are ready to fight for her heart.   Frida can pick the winner. Yolo comes by and tells the twins that her therapy is helping her out a lot but still is going to need a few more sessions.   Yolo  tells Frida she will also be bringing some of her stuff to sell since she was the one who took the money . She promises to return the money with interest.

Ari  is thinking back on Polita trying to give them "the talk" and suggests to Temo that maybe they could get some more information from a professional at school that would serve them well. Temo agrees.

Back outside, Yolo wants to sell her cellphone because it has too many sad memories. The twins think it is a bad idea because having a phone is indispensable nowadays. Yolo wants to have more time to spend with her family and people she loves. She clears and resets the phone readying it for sale.  A boy walks up  and asks how much the phone is. He notices Yolo and she him. The boys drink more lemonade and their stomachs start hurting.

At Blanca's, Julieta asks Blanca how Eugenio is doing.  Blanca tries to explain that he has good days, bad days, and even worse days.  Today he forgot how to make bread but he did remember their wedding.  For that very reason, Blanca wants  to have her vow renewal ASAP before he forgets who she is for good.  Julieta hugs her and makes a pact with Blanca.  She will make it her duty to arrange the vow renewal so it is the best ceremony possible.  Blanca doesn't understand the "duty" part. Julieta explains that if Blanca and Eugenio had never married then Robert never would have been born and she would have never met the love of her life. Robert is her husband and the father of her three children and she also has gained his family that she loves with all of her heart.  She owes Blanca and Eugenio a lot. Julieta declares herself the official planner or  the "godmother of love".  Blanca understanding Julieta as she does, knows she doesn't have another choice. Julieta will organize the best vow renewal in all of Oaxaca.

Back outside, the boy introduces himself to Yolo and his name is Nico(lás). She asks if he is sure he wants to buy the phone because it is pink.  He doesn't care.  It is a good price and perfect.  He pays her and as he starts to walk away he mentions that it probably doesn't have a guarantee if it doesn't work he supposes he will have nobody to complain to.  He then  turns around a second time to tell Yolo how pretty she is.   He leaves for good and Yolo is left smiling as Frida serves the twins  more lemonade.

In court,  Luigi is explaining that he has been Guido's associate for a long time. As such, he can affirm that Guido is guilty of all of the crimes  of which he has  been accused: changing Massimo Mussi's incorporation documents and changing the DNA test results of Eugenio Córcega and Ernesto Rey. He was Guido's copilot dressed as a clown when he tried to run over Ari Córcega and his friends. Guido romanced Yolo Rey to take revenge on her father Ernesto Rey.because his grandfather favored Ernesto over him. He knows  that Guido  poisoned Gabriel so he would end up with all of the Mussi fortune. And that is not all.  Guido also tried to kill Dani's triplets before they were born by trying to provoke a spontaneous abortion. At that point,  Dani jumps up and has to be held back. Luigi knows he has been guilty in his silence but the only murderer in the courtroom is Guido Mussi. Luigi even suspects that Guido poisoned his own parents. Nonno is more than shocked.

When Robert and the kids arrive at Blanca's, Julieta informs him of her plans for the vow renewal. She will need his help. Robert is all in thinking that this event may help motivate his father.  Julieta says she wants it to be unforgettable for that very reason.   Robert agrees to do all he can though he won't have much time since he has some good news:  he has just been named the hospital director.  Their celebration is cut short when they hear Eugenio shouting for help.

In the bakery, a jealous Audifaz is yelling at Polita as she works. He knows that his mother is okay with her going out with that lawyer guy but he isn't.  He is really too young for her. She squirts him in the face with  the water bottle she has been using on the tables.  She reminds him that she is no longer his wife that he thinks he can control and treat like a fool.  He tries to talk more kindly saying that he doesn't want to control her; that he loves her.  Polita sees it as his usual: all words and no deeds.  She informs him that "Life is measured by deeds not days." Audi is quiet not knowing what to say. Polita says she learned that in her high school classes. Polita is happy  with Eduardo and asks Audi to leave her in peace. She gives him another squirt in the face for good measure. Audi shrinks back and tries to cover his face.

The time has come for the judge to render his verdict. He finds Guido Mussi  guilty of murder, attempted murder, falsification of documents and fraud. He is sentences to 85 years in jail. Guido is led away in tears as Luigi smirks.

Robert and Blanca run into the bedroom to see Eugenio on his bed with his blanket over his head.  He makes it clear he wants to be left just as he is. He doesn't want anyone trying to get him out of there.

Julieta is still curious about Dave wanting surgery on his scar.  She asks if somebody bothered him in Africa about it. Dave says no. The truth of the matter is that he doesn't feel good when he sees himself in the mirror. He doesn't like what he sees. He wants to look normal like the other kids. Julieta tries to explain how we all are normal with everyone having differences. His appearance doesn't make him who he is. Dave says it isn't that but if his dad can operate on him and make him better looking he will feel happy.  Julieta reminds him that we have to feel good on the inside. She also makes him aware that there is a possibility that his father will not be able to remove the scar completely.

Back in his bedroom, Eugenio tells Robert that he wants to stay in his bed where he cannot hurt anyone by forgetting things.  Robert goes to try to pull him up. Eugenio fights Robert insisting that  Robert cannot make him do anything. He wants to stay asleep. Blanca tells him enough. She goes on to tell Eugenio that she can understand his desperation but they want to spend all of the time they can with him as long as he is lucid be that years or months.  Eugenio is aware of the illness taking over more and more of his mind. Blanca says that is all the more the reason not to waste the time he has left by staying in bed.   Blanca  begs him to get up and live. Robert decides to leave them alone and excuses  himself to go pack things to take to Cata's house.  He tells his mother to call him if necessary. Eugenio agrees that Robert needs to be at his wife's side at . . . Catalina's house.

Now that the trial is over, Dani debriefs with Carlos outside.  It is still hard for her to believe that such a young man could be responsible for causing such evil.  Carlos thinks the most difficult part is  now over for her.   She agrees in part but at least he will get the punishment he deserves. Dani is anxious to get home to the triplets. Carlos asks if she would like him to walk her home. She thanks him but wants to go on her own because she has some thinking to do.  Anyway,  they are going in opposite directions. He leaves, walks on, pauses and glances back. She stops and glances back. She turns around and thanks him for everything. Carlos sadly nods. Suddenly, they are walking back towards each other. Dani thanks Carlos for his support and for putting up with her sadness and always being there for her,  sending her texts in the morning and asking about the triplets. . .  the whole process would have been worse without him. Carlos tells her that she doesn't know how she has made him feel telling him that.  He thanks her for letting him be by her side and involving him in the most important part of her life: her children.  He thanks her for everything she has added to his life. He is truly much happier since he has met Dani Córcega.  Dani steps closer.  She needs to get back to her "treasures." Carlos asks if there is a way he could hug her. She nods. They hug each other  and cry.

Nonno has stopped by the jail to see Guido. Guido asks what he wants. Nonno asks if what Luigi said was true.  What did happen to his parents? Did Guido have something to do with his parents' death?

Susana and Pancho come home from the trial.  Susana cannot imagine how terrible it would be to have to pass one's life in a cell.  Pancho is more interested in  how things went with Julieta.  Susana admits that things were difficult but that Julieta has agreed to compete with him for the vice presidency position.  She is determined to get her job back. Susana honestly understands how Julieta feels because she fought very hard for that position in the first place. Pancho assumes that she will be pulling for Julieta. Susana refuses to be drawn in because it is impossible for her to be impartial and she doesn't want this affecting their marriage.  The executive board will  decide.  Susana also brings up that in the last several months with all that has been their plate, their "romantic partnership" has suffered.   She wants him to use some of his creativity to find a solution.  Pancho suggests a second honeymoon night right there in Oaxaca considering that the first one wasn't all that good.   He  yells for Crisanta.

Cata welcomes the Coopers with herbs and asks them to step into the light. Julieta thanks her mother but informs her that they will not be staying long. Julieta tells Hugo she is sorry that he and Diana separated. Tavo comes out and welcomes Robert and Julieta back.  Tavo knows it must be strange seeing him there but that he and Cata have decided to live together.  Julieta remarks "more family". Robert has to agree but still looks surprised.

Pancho has a favor to ask Crisanta: just watch the kids for the night because he and Susana are leaving and will not be back to sleep.  Crisanta knows what is going on and tells him not to worry.  Susana asks if they are going today. Pancho says yes they are.

Back at the prison, Nonno has to tell Guido that he alone with his unforgivable actions has turned his life into a hell. Nonno wants the truth. Did Guido kill his son? Guido says he didn't kill his parents on purpose even though his father and mother wanted him to die. Everyday his parents suffered because he couldn't breathe well; he wasn't good enough to be their son.  One day,  he started thinking about fulfilling their wish.  He really planned  it out. He got the poison but it was for himself to escape his own suffering.  He wanted his parents to be happy for once.  He imagined himself in heaven looking down and seeing them smile for the first time.  It ended up being all his mother's fault. She mixed up the drinks he had prepared and took his pitcher instead of hers and his father's. His parents drank together in their room while he was drinking his  in his room thinking the poison would take him away from it all. He had no idea that they had taken the poison and were going ton die.  Nonno looks at him with a mixture of anger and disgust.  Guido adds that if he had poisoned himself, Dani, Yolo and Nonno would not be suffering today. Nonno turns and leaves with out another word.

At home, Yolo has prepared a big supper for the family to celebrate them all. Grecia knocks at the door. Yolo greets her with a kiss.

At a restaurant, Robert and Julieta are waiting for Ari and Temo.  Robert is nervous. He doesn't know how to act.  Julieta says to be  cool and go with the flow. Just treat Ari normally and casually as usual. She doesn't know Temo very well either but from the first time she saw them together, it was obvious he was crazy about Ari. The boys arrive a little late in matching white shirts.

Pancho and Susana's second honeymoon is well  underway.  He has a hotel suite all set up with food and drink so that the can relax away from the pressures of the world. Susana agrees.

Linda talks with Axel and tells him how her grandmother caught her working with Crisanta.  She almost killed her. She had to tell Imelda that they weren't together. Axel is not happy that she told her that after the big step they decided to take in their relationship. He thinks the time has come to go and tell the Córcega's about what is going on with them. What about tomorrow? Linda agrees.

Back at dinner, Yolo tells everyone that she wants to change and that change is shown through action. She accepts that Neto and Grecia love each other.  Grecia has proven herself being there for her father in the good times and bad.  She is celebrating their relationship. They toast to it.

Eugenio and Blanca are in bed. She asks if he would like to marry her again after 40 years together.

At the restaurant,  Ari shows Julieta and Robert his ring and tells them that he and Temo have decided to get married and they want the Oppa's to be their godparents. A group of men are watching them and listening from another table. Julieta asks them if they are not a little young to be thinking about getting married. Robert is all smiley. The next thing, the manager comes over and asks them to leave.

Blanca gets the answer she wants. Of course Eugenio would want to marry her again! The real question is for her. Does she want to continue on with a man losing his memories?  Blanca answers that of course she does. Blanca explains how Julieta will plan their vow renewal  and how she thanked them for giving her Robert and more family. Eugenio  smiles.

Back at dinner, Julieta asks the manager why they are being run out of the restaurant. The manager says it is for the "comfort of the other customers".  The restaurant has a special kind of customer: VIP customers;  customers who eat there frequently. Robert asks how their presence is affecting the comfort of others.  The manager says there is no problem with him or his wife. They can stay. Julieta laughs out loud. Robert says everyone in their party is staying.  It turns out that some of the customers are not pleased with their "gay" companions. Julieta sees it all as ridiculous.

At Neto's, he tells Yolo how much this all means to him.  Yolo wants to be close to them all. They toast again:  the adults  with wine and the kids with juice.

Back at the restaurant, Robert informs the manager that all restaurants have a policy against discrimination so that any customer is to be welcomed and served without any concern for their race, religion or sexual orientation.  Julieta wants to know which one of the patrons was "complaining." A man from the other  table gets up and says it was his party and that it is not only them that are uncomfortable.  Nobody should have to put up with homosexuals.

At the hotel, Pancho is pouring the champagne. Susana is chuckling and Pancho is cackling. Pancho insists that  this is  what they needed: a good dose of laughter.  Susana tells him that he making her laugh changed her life. They toast and kiss.

Dani is back home with the triplets looking  at Gabriel's photo. She then sits in the kitchen with her tea. Carlos sits at a café with his food thinking about the hug he shared with Dani.  They are both sad.

At the restaurant, the man tells Robert that he doesn't know how he as a "man" can put up with these "liberal" scenes.  Robert explains that being a "man"  is being able to respect and care for others.   So, he can support the love between two men or between anyone.  Julieta suggests if  they are so uncomfortable, why not just pay their bill and leave.  Robert announces that his party is not leaving. The man takes Julieta's suggestion and asks for the check.

Imelda pays Dani some company in the kitchen. She asks Dani if she is lonely. Imelda knows what it is like to be alone in the world  with three children to support.  Dani admits that now the trial is over, she has a great emptiness and she still misses Gabriel so much.  Imelda says she can cry in her grandmother's arms and Dani does. Carlos is tempted to contact Dani but then decides not to.

Back at the prison, Guido starts to throw a tantrum in his cell when  he gets his food. He declares it disgusting and throws his plate on the floor.  He and Nonno think back to  when he was a child. Nonno asked him why he was still awake. Guido told Nonno how he had saved him and made him feel alive again. Nonno said he would always be there to support him. Guido asked even if he were bad. Nonno told him he wasn't  guilty for  what happened to his parents. Guido nodded and they hugged. In the present, Nonno is eating supper looking at a photo of his son and daughter in law. He remembers Guido telling him about wanting to kill himself at the jail.  Guido thinks of the same thing he told Nonno.

Susana and Pancho are kissing and playing with grapes. It is time for romance.

Back at the restaurant, Julieta says with everything they went through they should at least get a free meal. They all agree.  Julieta asks what their nickname "Tahi" means. They explain it means: Te amo hasta el infinito (I love you to infinity)and that they got the idea from the "Oppa's".   Julieta is curious how the boys handle situations just like they encountered in the restaurant.  It isn't just for her but she is thinking about Dave who is concerned about being different from everyone because of his scars.  Ari and Temo admit to be no experts. The word is full of hatred. Temo says being in situations just like this one proves that you have to know who you are in order to defend yourself. Ari says if anyone messed with Temo, he would bust their face.  Julieta smiles. Temo reminds them all it is important to be non-violent.   Robert is very proud of them.  Temo adds that everyone is different and Ari goes on to add that those differences make us perfect.  Julieta agrees and hopes that Dave will understand that  you have to celebrate the differences. They are the only things that make us unique.

Back in the kitchen, Imelda tells Dani that she hopes she will go to sleep with a clearer mind and soul tonight. They say goodnight. Dani gets a message from Carlos. He needs to talk to her; see her. Dani says it is so late. He knows that but he is texting from outside of her door. When she opens the door, he is all smiles but she looks worried. He has a bouquet of calla  lilies. Carlos explains that he was thinking about her all afternoon and couldn't help buying the flowers. She sort of smiles. He was wondering if he should talk to her or not or to take action or not.  He finally decided to come over because life is short. He is there to tell her that he still loves her even more than before. Dani looks confused. He steps forward to kiss her.

Another satisfying episode with the plots just percolating along.. I am glad Luigi got the truth out about Guidoin court and Guido got a good long sentence.

More mañana!

Jarifa, thanks for another great recap of a really busy episode.

Holy pan de frijol! Just a day ago Lynne said "Guido is having the fastest murder/attempted murder trial in history." And yet "The Verdicts Are In."

Nobody even needed to get a change of clothes, or lunch for that matter. Wow!

Yolo and that guy exchanged looks, and all of a sudden I stopped worrying that Yolo would spend the rest of her life pining away for Guido. Now I'll be able to sleep tonight.

andy

Andy, “Holy pan de frijol” is another keeper. So glad you will be able to sleep tonight. 🙂

I also enjoyed Polita with her multipurpose squirt bottle getting Audi in the face not once but twice!!!

Jarifa: Does Mexico have the death penalty ?

I'm glad Nonno FINALLY saw the real Guido for who he really is: twisted sociopath.

Andy: Looking forward to seeing Dani & Carlos together plus the triplets. Wouldn't be shocked if Dani has more kids.

Jarifa, thanks for the recap of this swift justice.

Andy, your comments gave me a giggle.Yolo is going and pretty. She will move on as will Dani who seems to have met a guy who is not scared away by triplets.

Sunny again here but only about 45 right now. It is supposed to go up to 58.

Thank you for your recap, Jarifa.

"The boys drink more lemonade and their stomachs start hurting.". Let's hope there is no poison in that lemonade.

Audifaz continues to be his mother's son. Ugh.....

ArisTemo talk ping marriage is really pushing it. They're still in high school. Caray! I am so over this pair and their story.

How is it that Luigi is it an accessory to Guido's crimes and on trial, too? Ah, telenovelaland!

Meant to say ... how is it that Luigi is NOT an accessory..... I need caffeine....

Doris: Luigi will get prison time too.

A sweet and savory summary Jarifa. You brought everything to light and life so beautifully.

You convey expressions and emotions so well - "She sort of smiles" perfectly captured Dani's reaction to Carlos.

Favorite moment was Polita “…squirts him in the face with the water bottle she has been using on the tables. She reminds him that she is no longer his wife that he thinks he can control and treat like a fool”. About time...Audi being his mother's son was spot on doris.

There were so many memorable, sweet moments last night, weren’t there? A possible new love interest for Yolo, Yolo welcoming Grecia into their home, Robert’s arched eyebrows and bemused expression at seeing Tavo at Cat's home and the very sexy way Carlos moved in for a kiss. Will Dani kiss him or will she retreat?

I was shocked Guido didn’t intend to kill his parents. When he was “assaulted” by paint by the kids prank, he seemed to indicate everything he did was purposeful. I have to say that the actor playing Nonno’s acting was mesmerizing.

"Blanca understanding Julieta as she does, knows she doesn't have another choice" shows how far their relationship has come and how deep their bond has grown.

andy, yes, I agree that Yolo may have the void in her heart filled soon.

Susanlynn, yes Carlos isn't afraid of commitment or 3 tots!

Still, Eugenio suffers...

Jarifa, thank you. Still home sick but think I will be able to go back tomorrow. Delighted to read your amazing recap.

Diana

Ot...Diana, hope that you feel better soon. Rest and heal.

Well, sun is gone, and it is damp and overcast now. Not good for the spirits. Okay, lots to do today.

Thank you Jarifa! Great job once again on your detailed recap!

I loved how you covered Polita squirting Audi in the face with that water bottle. The entire scene was so funny! I was laughing at Audi. I wonder if the actors burst out laughing after that scene.

Poor Dani. But I hope she realizes she truly is blessed to have someone who loves her like Carlos. Not too many guys want to take on a ready made family like that.

Doris, I hear you over this ArisTemo plot. These are teens who haven't even graduated from high school yet. And they are talking marriage? Why do they keep pushing this?

I love seeing the change in Yolo and her acceptance of Grecia. That was the high point of the show for me.

Jarifa, thanks again for doing these great recaps, and ITA that Polita and her spray bottle were a highlight. It made me laugh out loud. I noticed that Audifaz told Polita that he loved her. Too late, guy.

Steve, yeah, I think it would be more than nice to see Dani and Carlos get together before the end of the show.

I was distressed by the scene in the restaurant where those men objected to the presence of Ari/Temo, it was just wrong. But I am so tired of Ari/Temo and of Ari's crying. I feel we have been hit over the head repeatedly and unnecessarily with the 'accept guys like Ari & Temo' PSA.

Diana, I'm with you about Guido's intending to kill himself rather than his parents. I'm not sure it's true and I really, really do wish we could know what Guido's childhood was like, not just his version of things.
And it's good to hear you are feeling somewhat better.

andy

Andy, so glad Yolo met the new boy so you were able to sleep soundly! Too funny.

Loved Polita squirting Audifaz -- twice!

I am probably in the minority here, but I feel sorry for Guido. I don't excuse his evil deeds by any means. But it does seem that his parents were really cruel to him, and I believed him about intending to poison himself rather than his parents. After all, why would he lie about it now? I don't see how a lie would benefit him, he'll be in prison for the rest of his life either way. Of course, it is Guido's version of the story. The actor who plays that part is just so good, he has been able to show different sides of Guido -- extreme evil, yet also some humanity.

Doris and Andy, I agree with the both of you.....Enough of Ari and Temo. Too young, to be thinking of marriage. Oh boys, you still have so much to experience in life..........Had enough of crybaby controlling Temo.....

Steve, No, Mexico does not have the death penalty.

Susanlynn, what a strike of luck for Dani to conveniently meet a “guy who is not scared away by triplets.”

doris, those Rey twins just kept drinking that lemonade. LOL I hope our days of poisoning are far behind us with Guido in jail and Diana out of town.

Steve, ITA. I cannot see how Luigi wouldn’t get prison time for going along for the ride with Guido one too many time in spite of showing up and testifying.

Diana, glad to hear you are feeling a bit better today. As for Guido and his parents, I am not convinced that he didn’t kill them and just sings a different tune when it is useful. I guess we will never know. I sure agree with you about Patricio Castillo’s (Mássimo’s) acting. The last thing I saw him in was La candidata where he masterfully played a nasty mafioso.

Cynthia, it has been very enjoyable seeing Polita come into her own. She was so freewheeling with that spray bottle. Her character has come a long way.

Andy, good point: if only we knew the truth about Guido’s childhood from an independent point of view.

Lynne, I also have felt sorry for Guido from time to time after he fell in love with Yolo. Who knows how he might have turned out if he were not in someway broken by who knows what: psychological mistreatment at the hands of his parents? or was he just born that way? Either way, by the time he realized what life had to offer, it was too late.

Thanks, everyone, for stopping by the patio to comment this p.m.!

Finally had time to watch this and check in with the patio. First of all, thanks Jarifa for another sparkling recap. About Guido, I'd like to believe his side but someone who could cheerfully murder a father-to-be and three babies does not sound like a potential suicide...more like a parent-killer to me.

Agree that the scene with Ari and Temo in the restaurant was very painful but that particular PSA has run its course. We get it!

Had to laugh at Yolo's semi-instant transformation into a wise-middle-aged woman ready to accept Dad's new gal and family unity. Not believable. But nice. Maybe the arrival of Nico helped that.

Diana, hope another day of rest (I hope!) and a good night's sleep will restore you. Just seems wrong to be sick when the weather is turning nice and Spring is beginning to flower. Not fair!

Was running around with an 18-month old all morning. Great fun but exhausting. There's a reason why 79-year-old woman aren't fertile! Mother Nature knows what she's about!

Thank goodness for your recap, Jarifa! Since I teach Wednesday nights, otherwise I would have no idea what had happened--though I did hunt up online the scene where Yolo meets Nico--had to see what he looks like--handsome in an almost too pretty way--but more age-appropriate for Yolo and presumably sane. Patricio Castillo has been on La Rosa de Guadalupe as a man who thinks he's Alonso Quijano/Don Quijote. He was very good at that too!

JudyB, a new love interest can do a lot for agirl.

SpanProf, thanks for the info on Patricio Castillo with the Quijote twist. I will have to look for that.
