Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Miercoles 4/3/19, Episode 16: Discussion Page

Sonia was still determined to believe Rafael guilty. Ricardo and Adrián went back to the office to prepare for court. Roberto told them about Julio's confession and they told him that they had the real name of Rafael's seducer but not her current address. Roberto suggested that they prepare for court while Manuel and Juan looked for Mónica. Ricardo stopped by Alejandra's office to tell her they would go to dine after he prepared what he needed for court the next day.

Roberto and Juan visited Rafael in the jail to find out more about Mónica. He told her that she had talked about getting a special medication but he could not recall the name of it. In the meantime Ricardo and Adrián discussed their defense strategy. They needed to present Rafael as Mónica's victim. They had text messages that could be interpreted this way but needed a motive, finally concluding that a mother is capable of doing anything for her child and a besotted man is capable of committing murder for her. What they needed but didn't have was the time to find her.

Rafael talked about finally dating her and feeling better. She had first revealed to him she was married the first time they had vo-di-oh-doh-dohed. There were marks on her body that looked like evidence of violence and she said that her husband did it. He had resolved then that he would stay with her. They always met at the same hotel, which he identified. The frequency increased after a while and she claimed she told her husband that she was going to the gym. She arrived once with a black eye (which looked more like she faked it with eye shadow), saying that her husband almost killed her and he would kill him if he caught them together. She said that the only way to get away from him would be to disappear. She then fled. A few days later he obtained a pistol, waited in the parking garage, and killed him. He tried calling her but she did not answer. He had killed for her but couldn't deal with the guilt, so he had turned himself in.

Sofia arrived at her mother's house to find the kitchen filled with smoke and unattended. Camila had been lying down and had forgotten she had a pot on the stove. She asked Sofia about work, etc., and Sofia told her she would do the cooking herself.

Ricardo and Alejandra went out to dinner at last. After all that had happened he wanted nothing more than to win her love. That life is short and he didn't want to live without her. Besos!

Alonso told Jaime about El Gato turning up dead. He showed him the photo Quiróz had given them and Jaime said he never saw his captors but would recognize their voices.

Sofia told her mother about what had been going on with her colleagues and how despite their tragedies they were continuing the fight. “Just like you,” Camila said. “I think I have a lot in common with them,” she said. But does she mean Ricardo or Javier?

Juan ate at home with Fernanda and Susanna and told them about Julio. Susanna was floored at everything about this. She thanked God for having a good son, kissed Juan good night and went to bed early. Fernanda asked him about his new case and he said it was very sad, so he'd rather not talk about it. They settled on the couch and he said he was always very calm in her company.

El Ciego and two of his goons pulled up in what looked like a vacant lot with a fair amount of junk in it. He said they would need to be careful because of El Gato. He sent one guy to do something while he talked with El Chivo. He got him to admit having killed El Gato, then asked him “Who gave you the order? Did I tell you to kill him?” “No; I did it to protect you.” El Ciego made him kneel in front of him and aimed. El Chivo begged him not to kill him.

Ricardo took Alejandra home and it was clear that he wants to pick up where they left off. Mas besos.

El Ciego played his usual mind games with El Chivo before telling him he would get another chance. He was shaking in his shorts the whole time and replied in a subservient manner as he got to his feet. El Ciego talked about moving more merchandise and mentioned El Gringo. He then looked at El Chivo's face for evidence of fear.

Juan fell asleep against Fernanda, so she stopped talking and stretched him out on the couch to make him comfortable. Then she kisssed him and quietly went home.

The following morning Paula noticed how happy Alejandra was. They had coffee and she asked her to look at the contract about the loan. There was something she didn't like about it so she told Paula to tell Alicia she wanted to talk to her husband about this. If anything went wrong Paula would be at risk of losing her house and other things. She left for the office and Paula looked back at the file.

Roberto introduced Manuel to Juan as his assistant in the investigation about Mónica. They went to the last address they had for her. They approached a neighbor, with Juan pretending to have been an old classmate of Mónica's. The neighbor said that Mónica was very nice and had helped her with her accounting. Juan told her that this was why he was looking for her. His cell phone had been stolen and he couldn't remember her number. The woman told him that she had moved away two years previously because her son was very ill and she had a lot of bills to pay. She didn't have her phone number. They continued on talking with other neighbors.

Sr. Aguirre's ex and her lawyer came to the Vega offices and they met Gustavo and his client in the conference room. Gustavo told them that he was simply seeking her cooperation in the matter of the visitation schedule. Her lawyer said that the child is studying for exams at the moment and can't see her father, who protested that he had always helped her study. His ex showed herself to be a real piece of work by saying that he showed no interest in her activities. He answered that she had kept their daughter from him and she yelled back that the judge had put her in charge of the child. This caused Gustavo to yell at her, then catch himself to say that her ex had complied with his obligations and she had to return the favor. She tried to scold Gustavo for yelling at her when she was in charge of taking care of and raising her daughter. She refused to get into a fight about this. Gustavo told her that she had violated a court order and that would have consequences. Her response was to taunt her ex by asking “Has it ever occurred to you that your daughter doesn't want to see you?”

Roberto had to face Sonia in court over Rafael's case. He started by explaining that his client had turned himself in. He then picked up his investigative files to present. Sonia nastily stated that they had a confessed killer and there was no need for investigation. The judge demanded that Sonia take her seat, and then allowed Roberto to continue. He described the situation and Ricardo began the explanation of the imposture and Mónica Almazán's possible motive for the crime. Sonia described going to the address with the warrant and finding out that the woman didn't live there. Like that should close the case.

Sr Aguirre said that this is not true because his daughter missed him. Gustavo proposed a visit with a psychologist to determine what influence her mother had on her. She refused, insisting that her daughter did not want to see her ex. Gustavo stood up, saying that children have the right to healthy relationships with their parents and that she was not to prevent his client from seeing his child. The woman stood up and screeched that the judge gave her full custody and shouted at her ex “If you don't understand that that's your problem!” Gustavo said that they would see her in court. Her lawyer stood up and said in a reasonable tone that they should settle it between them and avoid going to court. Gustavo apologised to him, saying that if his client wanted to damage her daughter emotionally by using her to annoy her ex, he would do what was necessary to stop it. The other lawyer asked to speak to his client and have a second meeting. Gustavo said that he sees that she won't change her mind and that this is a waste of his time. “We'll see you in court.” He opened the door and they walked out. The ex-wife gave him a nasty look as she left.

Juan and Manuel found a neighbor who had helped Mónica move although he could not remember the address. However, he said he would help.

Adrián spoke about finding Mónica Almazán in order to get the details of the crime, of which she had been the mastermind. Sonia protested this on the grounds that the accused's story is too elaborate. The judge pointed out that there had been no witnesses. All Adrián and his colleagues were looking for was more time for the investigation. Sonia pointed out that the doctor's widow was in the courtroom and justice needed to be done. The judge adjourned court until she had made a decision.

Thank you for the page and mini-cap, which is certainly enough. Your writing is awesome.

Lol - Sofia's dinghy mama. Perfect casting of Erika Buenfil. They really look like mother and daughter.

Televisa is good at that. It shows in their past productions as well.

More later.

UA: Nice to see Erika Buenfil.

Thanks, UA! Looking forward to watching this later on today.

Tonight's might be late because I will be going to the opera.

How many of you watching 10PM novelas do it later On Demand or via recording?

If I can stay up, I do, but it's pretty late for me. Mostly I watch the recording the next day.

I record it, but record the Eastern Time showing (I'm in California), then watch it around 7:00on Pacific Time and fast-forward through the commercials. Lol

I always watch it the next day Urban. For one, I'm no night owl, nor do I like to watch (or read) disturbing or violent content before going to sleep. So recording these shows works for me and I usually watch midday, the next day, when I'm having lunch. Two birds with one stone.

Enjoy the opera!

And thanks for the synopsis. I had to admit the story of the forgotten food burning on the stove hit a nerve. My rule, for several years now, is NEVER LEAVE THE KITCHEN WHEN COOKING. By the time I sniff something burning (while busy doing something upstairs) I've thoroughly ruined a pot, not to mention the atmosphere! Had to laugh at Buenfil's character casually laughing that off. I find any hint of forgetfulness terrifying since my mom DID become senile in her mid-seventies. However, so far, it is just my older sister who is suffering dementia. A sad development indeed.

Thanks AGAIN for the recap, UA! Have fun at the opera. I have to watch the recording of this show the following afternoon, or even evening, on some days.

If I'd told my mom of a murder, kidnapping and imminent danger at my place of employment, she would not have continued to shovel food into her face. What an odd non-response from Sofia's mother.

When Sofia told her mom that Roberto is lindo, but Javier "es algo especial", was she being sarcastic? Or does she see the sheep in wolf's clothing that I think is the real Javier?

I look forward to the day Jaime recognizes El Ciego's voice. I hope it's when he's with Carlos and they can then put 2 + 2 together. This is one of the more tantalizing plotlines I'm anxious to see unfold.

R la O

Since Figaro insists upon being on my lap at random times this recap will not be ready until tomorrow morning. It's also likely to be shorter than usual.

STAY AWAY FROM JAVIER, POP-EYES. R la O and I are already sitting at his table, and there is no chair for you.

Ah Figaro...I have a Kizzie on my lap as I type this. There is no stopping them when they decide to SIT and you're IT. She also manages to get cat hair all over my keyboard. If it weren't for the unconditional love.... (and I've actually developed asthma due to my cat allergies...but...she's family so she stays and I wheeze.)

At our house you can get waited on hand and foot by claiming that you're cat furniture and can't move.

Getting back to our story...

Do Paula and her friends remind you of The Golden Girls? I see it this way:

Paula = Dorothea
Lourdes = Blanche
Alicia = Rose

Haha, Blue! That's right! We dubs Javier. We are sincere when we say he's special.

Thanks, Urban.

Oh no, do I have a fight on my hands for Javier?

Not sure what Roberto is trying to do for Rafael. Get him less time in the slammer cause he was dupe? Rafael knew he was committing murder, regardless of whether this guy beat his wife, and he deserves time behind bars.

Good recap Urban. Thanks much.

Javiar is not to bright. He let this woman talk him into murder. And the fact that he is remorseful about it do
Not flush the toilet. He committed a hanus crime. In some states he'd get the death penalty. I hope they catch her. While she may love her son, well
The woman is not remorseful at all.And
She is to happy about that life ins policy pay off. I'm assuming that's what she was talkin about on the phone
To that man. I hope they catch her and
I hope her son gets the help he needs.

Happy for rick & Ali. Hope it last.

The jury is still out on Sofia. Her ma
Was a pleasant surprise

That case Gus has may not be a good idea. That ex wife is a real bitch. I hope she's not talkin against the dad to his daughter, that would be so nasty of her. Ok it's on. Thanks Urban.
Have fun at the opera.

Niecie, you can sit at our table. As long as you don't wear one of those leather skirts, coz that's no fair.

Blue Lass, loved the "cat furniture" comment. That is indeed how it works and the only time I can get a little waiting on. Almost worth the resulting asthma since alas, I am highly allergic to our little gal!

Yes; I often accuse Figaro and Carmen of thinking of me as a barkolounger.

Thursday night's recap is now up. Enjoy.
