Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Viernes 4/19/19, Episode 28: Everything’s Coming up Roses for Ale

Part 1 of several yet to come - The full story of Violeta, Andrés and Sol
* Adrián and Victoria are with Violeta at the prison, where she and her mother are languishing on account of their arrest for supposedly stealing Violeta's husband, Andrés' car. Vicky relates how Andrés tricked her and blames herself for trusting him. Adrián quickly steps in and says she isn’t to blame. Vicky tells Violeta that when she went to pick him up that morning, after he’d agreed to modify his statement, she was told by the maid that he and the little girl had left on a vacation. Vicky assures Vi that Sol was ok and happy the day before. Vi reacts immediately. Andrés must have been planning this for a long time. The two of them had been planning a trip to Disneyland for Sol’s vacation for months. She even knows the name of the hotel they were going to stay in, in Anaheim.

* Andy insisted on going ahead of Vi and Vi would follow in a couple of days. He must have done this in order to be able to take the child out of the country without Violet’s permission. Vicky says she will call the hotel and raise an Amber Alert for Sol. Vi just doesn’t understand why Andy would have done something like this. Vicky says they intend to find out, find him and get Vi’s daughter back. Vi says she doesn’t care what happens to Andy, as long as her daughter is ok.
* When Adrián and Vicky get back to the office, she calls the hotel but no one by that name is registered, nor has a reservation. Vicky is frustrated and angry. Adrián volunteers to check airlines and passenger lists. They swear to get to the bottom of this, as they look intently at each other. Apparently, Adrián has covered one of Vick’s hands with his, just as Bobby walks in on what was probably going to be a little hand-porn. Adrián pulls away looking guilty of the gesture, meaning more than just concern for Vick. Bobby is there to remind Vick of the Associates meeting. She had forgotten.
* Later in the episode, the scene switches to Austin, TX, which doesn’t sound at all like Anaheim, CA. Andrés and Sol have reached a very fancy house. Some blonde lady greets them from the 2d story balcony. Andrés tells Sol this is now Sol’s house. She wants to know what about Mami? Papi says they’ll talk about Mami later.
* Andrés greets the lady with an embrace and not a hug. The lady picks Sol up and carries her in the house. She’s introduced to Sol as Megan. Megan gives Sol a blonde doll. Sol asks her Papi why he kissed the lady. He explains that she’s his friend. Sol wants to know what about Mami? Megan gives Andrés time to "talk" (ahem) to Sol.
*Out on the patio, Papi spins an awful tale, one that 6-year-olds would believe, coming from an adult they trust and is a father-figure. He says he and Mami have been having a lot of problems lately. Mami stopped loving them and left them. Sol, bless her heart, retorts that it isn't true, Mami loves her. Papi says maybe so, but she's not coming back and they won't see her again. Sol wants her Mami. Papi says it was her decision to leave them. Of course, he will always love her and will never leave her. Sol insists she wants her Mami. Papi suggests that Megan could be a new Mami for her.

Part 2 of several yet to come – How Alejandra spent her day
* Ale starts her day at the office with a new client bunch of red flowers carefully crafted into an arrangement bigger than a world globe in a wealthy English gentleman’s library. The note accompanying it says it’s from Ricardo, who quickly enters to see her reaction. She’s overwhelmingly pleased and thanks him. There are no longer two persons in the room, there are three. Your court reporter could not concentrate on the conversation because of the flowers. In essence, Ric praises Ale to the stars and back, wants her to be happy and she’s also a damn fine lawyer.
* As Ale is wrapping up for the night, Alonso comes in and sternly asks her to meet him in his office to discuss a matter. The floral arrangement is admired. Ale arrives at the meeting to be surprised that the firm’s associates are all there. They are quite serious as they talk to her about her work. Ale looks nervous, but it doesn’t last long. Alonso announces she is being selected to be a new associate, should she accept. Of course she does, it’s an honor. Hugs and handshakes all around. They decide to celebrate the next day, after she signs the papers to make her official. Bobby will make all the arrangements.
* OMG—Ale and Ric get back to their already well-appointed apartment to more red floral arrangements (help—they are suffocating your court reporter). One is a life-sized grizzly bear and the other is some sort of obelisk. Ale takes pictures. The table is laid for 4. Paula and Jaime arrive to continue the celebration and share in their happiness and Ale’s new position at Vega. Dinner was great, even though they all have uneaten salads on their plates. It was probably the conversation that made it great.

Part 3 of several yet to come – How Carlos spent his day
* Inside what looks like a fancy warehouse in a questionable district, with overhead wires in view, turns out to be Carlos and Alan’s new offices. No more prestigious high-in-the-sky modern glass tower. At least this one seems to have plenty of parking for clients.
* Nancy sashays into Carlos’ office. She’s wearing the same alluring uniform as is her trademark, only today she’s busting out in burgundy. [ed. note: Will we ever see those boobies in bed with Carlos? Talk about ménage a trois.] She has a suggestion to enhance the list of invitees to his their grand reception. She proposes inviting members of the department of the judiciary, the prosecutors, the public defenders and all the staff. These are the folks who would be very helpful to them in the future. Carlos says he likes the way she looks, thinks.
* When she takes the list to Alan, he objects. He doesn’t know any of these people. She has to explain her reasoning. These are the folks that control the investigations. It’s to their advantage to make them feel like “insiders.” He reminds her that since he is now an associate, she must discuss things with him ahead of time. Nancy can barely hide her disgust as she walks out.
* Alan tries to challenge Carlos’ decision enlarging the reception. He was under the impression it was to be exclusive, ok, maybe judges, but the entire staff? Carlos tells him Nancy has the right idea. He reminds Alan that though on paper he’s an associate, it doesn’t change the way things really are (as in Carlos is large and in charge). Alan warns Carlos about Nancy. She’s beginning to learn things she shouldn’t be meddling in. Carlos is sure he can control her. Alan reminds him that Nancy is there to work for them, not the other way around. Carlos gives us a pensive look after Alan leaves.

Part 4 of 5 – Other bits and pieces of the day
* Juan has taken Fer to a nice restaurant. He wants her to get used to places like this. He says she can choose the next one. She’s just happy to be with him. Juan takes a deep breath and shyly introduces a suggestive new topic—how about a return trip to Cuernavaca? It had been so special. Fer agrees. Juan wants to take her shopping, maybe to get a bathing suit. She thinks he ought to be saving his money. He insists he has more than enough now. Fer tells him she’s happy to be with him (suds, rinse, repeat, oh, and a kiss to end the evening).
* Sofia arrives home to find her mother quite distraught about something. Camila tells her she thinks the maid is stealing from them. She recounts the money exchanged when she sent Lupita to the market. It turns out Cami is not very good at math. Problem solved before it could get out of hand.
* El Ciego is with his best goons tossing back a few. (Sorry, but I neglected to identify which one was which, so until I figure out who is El Cuervo and who is El Chivo, I’ll call them Individual 1 and Individual 2.) OK, so, Individual 1 was positive someone was following him. El Ciego is upset they don’t know anything about El Gringo’s condition. They hear a noise outside and draw their arsenal of weapons to investigate. Someone has slipped a photo under the door of El Ciego himself, coming out of Lic. Ibarra’s house. Now he knows someone is keeping track of his movements and he’s sure El Gringo is behind it. He wants his two Individuals to find them and kill them. If they can’t do it, El Ciego, in his best interpretation of fury, says he’ll do it himself. A little later and little calmer, El Ciego says they have to go about this very carefully. That doesn’t mean neglecting their primary business of moving the merchandise. El Ciego tells El Cuervo he’s in charge of finding and killing all of El Gringo’s guys. With his back to us, El Cuervo says, yess, boss. The sleeveless guy in plaid, must be El Cuervo because he turns to El Ciego and tells him he’ll run them down and then—bang, bang, bang. El Ciego seems much more relaxed now and calls for his car.

Part 5 - All about the next day
* Roberto is getting ready for an early day at the office. Nick didn’t hear him come in last night. He offers to make himself scarce, find an apartment of his own, if he wants to bring Vicky home. Bobby won’t hear of it, besides with Vick it’s not happening. Nick persuades Bobby to stay and have coffee and donuts, like when he was a school boy.
* Alan brings in the almost poster-sized invitations to show Carlos, who is pleased with the results. Later he will deliver them personally. Alan tries to dissuade him from taking them to Vega. Carlos says it’s the perfect excuse to see Ale and show her all she could have had as his associate.
* At the morning staff meeting, Alonso announces Ale’s elevation to associate. Claps all around. Ale signs her papers. Everyone agrees she merits it. More clapping. Then the ever-enthusiastic Juan jumps up to give her a very awkward, yet sincere hug. Ale gives Alonso a hug in gratitude.
* El Ciego is up early, ready to visit El Licenciado (Ibarra, of course). He hands El Cuervo some dinero with which to pay off some random guy of El Gringo’s to turn the tables on him and spill the frijoles on how their operation is run. He gets a call that they are ready for him. He walks out into the sunshine to find his white SUV waiting for him. He tells El Cuervo not to fail him. When he’s done his job, he’s to let El Ciego know and he’ll come for him.
* The newly minted couple and the newly minted un-coupled reach Ale’s office. The flowers dominate the room. Bobby would like to continue the celebration after the meal with the others is finished. Vicky demurs. She’d rather it end at the restaurant, since Bobby will want things to end the next morning. Ric saves the day and insists they just want to get together to relax and have a good time. Ale agrees. She also wants it to be just with them to celebrate. Bobby agrees then adds that they have to do this once a week, now that she is an associate. Ale doesn’t remember a clause like that in her contract. Bobby says he hasn’t submitted it for a vote yet, but he plans to. Vicky seems to be enjoying the repartee. The guys leave. Ale chides Vicky that she shouldn’t be like that with Bobby. Vic states she has no other options.
* Carlos arrives at Vega with his posters to impress the Vega folks. Before he can state his business he gets a phone call he doesn’t answer. He shows Carmen the glossy, glassine-covered invitations, which she’ll gladly distribute. It’ll just take Carlos a minute to stop by and greet Alonso. Before he can start his round(s), he gets another phone call he doesn’t answer. Now who could that be on the other end? Ha! It’s El Ciego. He tells El Chivo (Individual 1 now identified) to locate Ibarra, wherever it takes him and before El Gringo’s people can find him.
* Vic is still in Ale’s office, filling her in on the administration of the firm. She’s sure Ale will pick it up quickly. She gets up to leave, just as Carlos arrives, having overheard something about a celebration. He wants to know what it is. Vic says right out that Ale is their new associate. Carlos is momentarily speechless and will have to go off message. He tells her how happy he is for her. Vic stays there, putting in her two cents. Carlos manages to inform them about initiating his firm’s new offices. He also mentions that he had invited Ale to become his associate, but she didn’t accept. He’s still happy for her. He gets ANOTHER phone call from you-know-who, which he declines to answer. Ale reaches out to give Carlos a farewell hug, which he takes advantage of to embrace her tenderly—while Vic watches. He makes sure she sees him wipe away the tears as he leaves and oh, so sadly, congratulates her again. Ale and Vic look at each other—with Ale looking as if she’s thinking, “Good riddance to well, not so bad rubbish but rubbish that just won’t stay in the land-fill. The wind keeps blowing it back.”
* Ric barges into Bobby’s office. He needs some help with something he’s planning for their staff meal. It’s a surprise. He wants to ask Ale to marry him and shows Bobby the ring he has for her.

Comments:
That rotten-hearted soul will never earn my sympathy. Andres put his wife in prison on a trumped up charge, kidnapped his child, disappeared, all to avoid divorce proceedings. In a divorce, the mother usually gets custody. He has designated himself as the better parent and is off to live with someone else. Did he ever have a job? Was it only Violeta that earned an income? They had a pretty nice house and at least one maid. There's more to Andres' story to learn. Sure hope Vick and Addy find him and drag his sorry behind back to justice in Mexico. G'nite folks. See you all sometime tomorrow.

Thanks, Anita. I wasn't clear on all the details but now I am on the depths of Andres' vileness.

When I was a kid, a friend's dad wouldn't let her housewife mom (who kept impeccable care of the house) back in the home, installed his girlfriend there, and told his kids to call her "momma." This went on for awhile -- the scandal of the neighborhood -- until the wife somehow returned and the girlfriend exited. Eventually the couple divorced. Years later at the wife's funeral, the husband seemed contrite.

Back to our story, what a massive ego Andres has to shut out and lock up Violeta just because he wants to move on with a new woman and life. I can't figure out the family's money situation. Surely he's going to try to sell or rent out the home in Mexico. Maybe that's how Vicky will nab him.

Gracias, Anita. Talk about a wolf in sheep's clothing, this guy is the lowest of the low.

I started wondering what their money situation was yesterday. We know that Violeta works, but what does Andres do? If he were mooching off Violeta I doubt he would be able to pull this off. Is he on vacation? Living off an inheritance? Who bought that nice house? Victoria should be able to make taco filling out of this guy when she gets him into court. Unless this is going to be a case that gets lost.

Quite an episode Anita. Thank you. I just assumed the guy was in some business that required extensive travel in the States and that was where he met this lady and got something going with her. But yes, quite a cruel touch to tell his daughter that Mommy didn't love them anymore and left. And the imprisonment. But hey, a lot of fellas just kill the first wife and then move on. Amazing how selfish humans can be, is it not?

Whoa, and total overkill with the Ricardo Roses and Alejandra. All I could think of was the mess those roses were going to be in a few days and the fun of wrestling them out into the trash.

Thanks Court Reporter. This custody case will only further cement Victoria's belief that men are no damn good.

Roses in the shape of a teddy bear? I agree that is excessive.

So Roberto is finally experiencing jealousy. He deserves to. I'm still trying to figure out if Adrian is a player because if Roberto and Victoria become an actual couple eventually who else is going to rack up notches on the bedpost?

Urban

I thought it was notches on your belt loop, I like bedpost much better!!!

This was a "piss me off" episode. What
The hell does Andres think he is doin?
It's bad enough he has Screwed over his wife and mom inlaw.
Is this skinny blond in on this very
Bad plan? What a sorry piece of cow
Sh*t andres is. How could he do this to his child. How could he do this to his Child's mother? And lie? I really
Hope Vicky wipes the floor up with him
And his skinny momma wannabe. I can't
Stand him.
You're right JudyB, this has sealed it
For vicky. But all men are not jerks.
And robby did not cheat on her. I really want her to get that jerk.

Why didn't he just give her a bunch of
Beautiful roses in some vases, instead
Of a giant bearshaped rose bush? And that rock is nice, I hope she gets to wear it.

Thanks Anita.

Awesome recap, Anita! You went far beyond lo necesario. Many thanks!!
Totally agree about the excessive amount of flowers.
What happened to tasteful?

I think Bobby is disgusting. He shows his "love" for Victoria by sleeping with anyone he can find. He is insatiable. Vic is wise to be leery of him. The same for his pathetic father. STD'S ALL AROUND???

All the best to all,

Floridia

Thanks, Anita. My fave: [ed. note: Will we ever see those boobies in bed with Carlos? Talk about ménage a trois.] - lol

I'm still thinking Nancy is up to something besides bedding Carlos and becoming an associate.

What about Gustavo? In the board meeting, he seemed genuinely happy for Ale, but why in the heck haven't they made him an associate before?

Yep, I too spent too much time studying those ridiculous monstrosities of red roses. I suppose this was product place by the Mexican Rose Council. So one was a teddy bear? I think the one in the new apartment was an "A." Ric sure knows how to waste good money.

I do admire Bobby's dad's joy for living, but honestly those two young women must've had cash dangled before them. How in heck would he feel if Astrid paid for boy toys? Anyway, both Bobby and Vicky could use a good shrink. I'm willing to bet that in addition to be cheated on twice, Vicky is a product of having a lousy father. I wish the writers would give us a peek at her family.

Niecie--
I examined the red floral arrangements VERY carefully--for scientific purposes (and the fact that I was doing the recap). The arrangement in Ale's office is NOT made of roses. They looked more like spray-painted daisies, or some such fully open, flat, petaled flower. It might even have been a fake.

How could you have missed the teddy bear? It was there sitting on something. The other one was obelisk-shaped on the table. That's the one Ale took a picture of.

In any case--a waste of money for both Ricardo AND Televisa (unless we can consider them a product placement, as you said, and came for free). To me it was just overkill. (Sorry but I'm just not liking Ricardo any more than in some of his previous incarnations--his voice is flat and unexpressive and lacks sex appeal--but that's just my opinion.)

Anita, I fully admit those flowers frightened me. You took one for the team examining them so closely.

I like Ric the professional lawyer and Ric the foil to Carlos. Ric the lover and Ric the father, meh. I can't blame DZ enirely because the writers write like his preteens are kindergartners and his love talk to Ale is strictly out of the TN 101 manual, nothing fresh to see here. I did like DZ in Sortilegio as a villain, Mentir para vivir as an annoying galan, and La doble vida de Estela Carrillo where her looked pretty handsome in a beard.

Niecie--I take it back about DZ. You were dipping way back to Sortilegio. He played the perfect villain. And I also got some vibes in his role of LDVDEC with the beard.
I like guys with a neatly clipped *BEARD* and not the 5 o'clock shadow so many sport these days and I can only associate with a certain U.S. President, RMN.

Good one, "...his love talk to Ale is strictly out of the TN 101 manual," and the writers AND directors are to blame. Maybe after "101" roles, DZ's delivery is pretty rote.

Don't guys know that ALL WOMEN DO NOT LIKE RED ROSES, OR NO ROSES AT ALL? They are so overdone it's pathetic. I like a more imaginative beau!!
