Ep 36: Part 1 Coming Home Isn’t Easy
After Su tells Vanesa that Beto is married to Marina, Vanesa wonders if they will now be leaving the ranch, but Su assures her that they are not. When Vaneso points out that Beto is no longer an Ocaranza, Su retorts that he is still legally an Ocaranza…and that is all that matters. Vanesa brings up Marina, but Su is hoping that Marina won’t return since Dami said that Doc Mask is capable of anything. She’s hoping they will get lucky.
Marina has the blade and holds it like it is her only hope. She tries to stab Doc when he approaches, but he grabs her and tells her that he gave up everything when he saved her from the fire; all his hopes and dreams went up in flames. When he tells her that he loves her, Marina tells him he doesn’t know what it is to love someone. Doc continues that the day of the fire changed his life…his love turned into an obsession—she can only reproach him for loving her too much. She doesn’t know what it is like to hide from the world so they won’t see your face because it only provokes repulsion and fear. The only thing that kept him going was her. Marina understands he has suffered, but she is blind and she isn’t going around blaming out hers for her condition. Doc cries that she is a good person and asks her to forgive him…he doesn’t want to lose her.
Don L is drinking straight out of the decanter as he thinks back on that night when the baby was born. They had come back only because of a plague in the orchards…and then he was told that several of the babies Dami had delivered had died. Don L then insists that his son is an Ocaranza—blood of his blood—he doesn’t care who says otherwise.
Beto yells at Doc to open the door. Doc warns Marina to be quiet or he will kill Beto. Doc goes out and Beto comes in yelling for Mari. Doc tells him she isn’t there. Beto grabs him and as he twists his arm asks where Mari is. Doc gets loose so Beto socks him good and kicks him as he curses him. When Beto breaks down the door, Marina cries and asks Beto to take her away. Beto threatens Doc that he will report him for kidnapping—he had Mari locked up. Doc hisses that no one knows Marina better than he does…and there is something formidable that unites them. After he tells Marina to tell Beto what that is, Marina cries and Beto carries her out. As they leave, Doc says that Marina will return to him and he will be there with open arms.
Horti tells Yola about everything that happened...she could hear all the yelling. Baldo and Tori arrive so Yola tells them where Don L took Marina, but Beto has already gone for her.
Beto is outside with Marina and tells her he will give her something to calm down. Marina cries as she tells Beto that she thought Doc loved her as a father. Beto admits that Doc had told him about his feelings. He regrets not having told her, but he didn’t want her to feel bad. When Beto asks what happened while she was with Doc, Mari pleads that he not ask her. Beto tells her that he is taking her back to the ranch, but Marina cries and asks him not to take her back since his father is there. Beto assures her that things have changed; he will explain when they get there.
Pru is huddled in her bed; she can’t lose Marina again. Angsty tells her to have faith. Pru hopes Beto brings her back to the ranch…she needs to see Marina.
Baldo is with Dami and takes her outside to get some air. Dami hopes Marina returns and is well. Baldo doesn’t understand why Don L would take her to Doc’s place. When he wonders why Angsty won’t tell the truth, Dami tells him that she already did. Baldo thinks that Don L needs to recognize Marina as his daughter and treat her accordingly, but Dami knows that Don L is not one to admit his mistakes or ask for forgiveness. Dami then tells Baldo that Don L ran off Mago for helping them.
Ep 36: Part 2 Coming Home Isn’t Easy
Su and Don L talk about getting a DNA test. Don L is sure that it will be confirmed that the blind girl is nothing to him. When Su brings up the marriage, Don L won’t accept anything until he sees proof. Su then tells Don L how Vanesa has suffered…she is inconsolable and wants to leave the ranch. Don L won’t allow it; he will talk to Vanesa. He then asks Su to look into the availability of a lab that conducts DNA tests. Su gladly will do that (and probably find a way to alter the results!)
Yola wonders if all the problems were because Don L found out that Marina and Beto are married. Mago and Lino are surprised to hear that…and don’t think that will sway Don L.
Horti runs out and tells Dami that Beto is on his way back with Marina.
Don L tells Vanesa that Marina and Beto have no future. When he belittles Marina, Vanesa reminds him that he is talking about his daughter, but Don L is not going to listen to a couple of gossips; he is going to get a DNA test. After Vanesa tells him she wants to leave the ranch, Don L tells her to be patient and trust him; she is like his daughter. Vanesa then asks what he will do if the results show that Marina is his daughter, so Don L responds that he would rather be dead than give all his fortune to the blind girl…he’ll give to Vanesa…ALL of it! Vanesa smiles.
Beto enters with a shaking Marina. Pru goes to her and hugs her tightly thanking God that she is alright.
Vanesa is happy to hear that Don L will be so generous. After Don L leaves, Vanesa wonders what Su is up to since they talked about the DNA tests. She worries because when Don L confirms that Marina is his daughter, everything will change. After Su responds that it will all depend on the results of the test, Vanesa looks at her suspiciously.
Pru senses that Marina is trembling; so she releases her to Dami. When Beto tells them that he is going to report Doc for kidnapping, Marina tells him he can’t because then he would be turning his father in too. Beto insists that they have to pay for what they did to her. Dami then asks Marina if she is okay, but Marina only cries. Dami then sits her down and tells her that it is time she knows the truth. Pru sits by Marina and tells her they can’t keep quiet anymore…she is her mother…she is the one who brought her into the world.
Doc is drinking as he is thinking that he is going to get Marina back.
Erasmo sees Zackrat arrive and tells him that he is probably back because the boss is back. Zackrat then tells him about Don L running off Mago; he will now be the foreman.
Marina is not understanding so Dami and Angsty recount what happened when she was born. Marina is still not understanding anything that she is being told; so Angsty then explains how she asked Dami to keep the secret when she found out; and Beto confirms that he is not an Ocaranza..she is the legitimate Ocaranza. Marina cries as Dami holds her.
Su tells Don L that Marina is back and with the other ladies; she assumes that Marina is being told about being his daughter. Don L thinks that Marina made up the whole thing. As Su tells him not to do anything against Marina until they get the DNA results, she tries to get him to relax by pulling on his hair and trying to get his neck to pop (viewerville hopes she uses a little too much force!) Don L thinks Pru will defend Marina, but Su reminds him that their friends and the whole world knows that Beto is his heir.
Ep 36: Part 3 Coming Home Isn’t Easy
Marina cries that this is too much and she is still not understanding. Dami consoles her and tells her that it’ll do her good to talk to Pru. Marina tells Pru that she has believed she was someone else all her life…everything was a lie. Pru explains that Don L had always insisted on having a son…and this was her last opportunity to give him what he desired so much. If Pru had known that Mari was alive, she would have raised her. There wasn’t a day that went by that Pru didn’t thought about and prayed for her baby girl. When Pru asks Marina to stay there; Marina is afraid that Don L will run her off again, so Pru swears that he won’t do anything to her and if he does something Pru will go away with her. Marina tells her she will ask her mother because Dami will always be her mother. After Pru understands, Marina remarks that she would like to call her “mother” but she can’t right now. Marina then suggests that they stay with Mago; so Pru tells her that Mago will no longer be living there. Marina blames herself, but Pru assures her that Pru is the one who caused everything. When Marina worries about causing her more problems, Pru assures her that she will never let anyone hurt her or those whom she loves.
Someone bangs on Doc’s door—it’s Baldo who barges in, lunges at Doc and tells him he had better not have done anything to Marina. Doc laughs and tells him that if it hadn’t been for Beto, Marina would still be there. He then tells Baldo that there are things about a woman that a man never forgets. Baldo knows what that means and yells that he couldn’t have done that, but Doc overpowers him and throws him around like a ragdoll. Doc is the one who loves Marina most in the world. Baldo yells that that is only an unhealthy passion. Doc then grabs Baldo and pushes him out.
Beto is off by himself thinking about everything when Angsty comes to check on him. Angsty knows that this was totally unexpected, but she did what she thought was best for the family. Beto understands why she did it…he is not reproaching her, but the one who she didn’t think of was Marina. Angsty reminds him that she thought Mari was dead, but Beto retorts that she wasn’t dead…he took her place and received everything that Marina should have had. Beto thinks he is the reason Marina went through so much hardship…he feels like an imposter.
HAPPY MONDAY GUYS.
I only saw the last 15 minutes of todays episode, but I was happy to know that beto got to her before any
Thing vomit worthy happened to her.
But what did happen was bad enough.
I wonder if Don lousey is really so
Upset because of the idea of a poor
Blind girl is his bio daughter or he
Just realized he brutalized his kid
Threw her to a psycho obsessed nut.
I won't know till I read a recap. Or a discussion comment. Anybody got
Some input, I'll appreciate it.
Thank you Rgv Chick
I found it interesting that Su was basically telling Don L to be patient until they do the DNA test, BUT obviously they both think that the results will show that Marina isn’t his daughter. Su and Don L seem perfect for each other. Pru needs to divorce him.
Sad that Beto feels guilty that he got everything from Pru and Don L when Marina should always have. Despite Don L wanting a son, he doesn’t seem to support Beto at all. Beto doesn’t need that as an example of a father. Maybe Beto will find a lot solace in the fact that he at least knows his real parents names now.
If Doc really assaulted Marina, that would truly suck.
Up with the fake DNA TEST then he can present the untampered one. But they may not do that cuz these tn people love drama-ing up everything. Lol.
So Vanessa is willing to be a moneybag
For moma, cuz it sure dont have nothin
To do with loving beto. She's still hung up on lino. Airhead, can't think for herself.
I'm glad pru knows. Now she and dami'll have To fight for their daughter. Her daddy is a jackass. And he got the devil sittin on his shoulder(su). And
She is using Every Thing that's messy
About this to her advantage. She has
Dollar signs for eyes. And as hands on
Abusive as she is it will probly cost
Her, her life. I really think her love
For Money means more to her than her
Daughter. And Vanessa is kinda stupid.
She smiled when dL says he'll give her
Everything. To bad she dont smile like
That when she thinks of beto.
Beto, stuck between a dumbass and a...
Stay tuned.
Thanks for recapping this difficult
Episode Ms Chick.
Rgv Chickie, thank you. Your recaps are as good, or better, than watching the show.
Wow, an other "interesting" episode!
Beto must have taken lessons at some point. He took on Doc Mask even better than he did with Lino.
These guys sure do drink a lot, Don Louse puts away more in an afternoon than I do in a year or three.
Hey, I like this idea! Susana the mad chiropractor does away with Don Louse, Vanesa gets his fortune, marries Lino, and lives the good life. Then she throws her mother under the bus. Marina's blindness is cured, Beto is inspired to specialize in ophthalmology and becomes world famous; Marina also goes to medical school and becomes, what else, an ophthalmologist, and the two of them set out to cure all the blind people in Mexico.
Hmmm, I'm beginning to see why my Telenovela Prediction Percentage, or TPP, is 0%. Oh well, more fun to read Rgv Chickie's recaps anyway.
andy
Thank you for your recap, Rgv Chick!
I had to laugh at Don L chugging from the decanter. Why bother with a glass? Just go straight to the source and save a step. The actor is having fun with this role.
I got so disgusted with Doc Nut Job that I had to FFWD-> thru the rest of that scene.
How did Marina NOT get cut by that Exacto Knife?!? That was too close for comfort around her face and neck.
Su conveniently knows of a lab that can do the DNA test? The Viewerville conveniently knows the results will be rigged. Check off another box on my Telenovela Bingo Card.✔️
Nina - I think Louse's problem is that Marina is 1) female, 2) blind, 3) poor. Having a son was so important to him when Pru was pregnant, he is so misogynistic macho man, that he will not accept anything else.
Ep 20: Flor Sees a Ghost!
Flor is screaming for help as red car jerk is on top of her and trying to have his way. Outside, Val is on the street and preparing to go in when an old man points up. Val assumes the man is telling him that Flor is upstairs; so Val rushes in (through the wall) and sees the jerk on top of Flor. He lunges at Jerk, but goes right through him. As Flor continues to cry out, Teo comes in and pulls the jerk off of Flor. Jerk overpowers Teo, punches him and kicks him while he is down.
Marga tells Father Elpi that he can start bearing his soul. When Father starts by admitting that he fell in love with a married woman, Marga is annoyed that he is going to start with the same old story. Father insists that they talk about it now since they have been avoiding it, but Marga doesn’t want to hear it and leaves.
Xochitl asks Mariana for her father. When Mariana explains that he will no longer live there, Xochitl blames her for running him off…she forced him to leave. Mariana tries to explain…she didn’t plan this; things changed and now she and her father are doing what they have been wanting to do. Xochitl doesn’t want to listen and leaves.
Val urges Teo to get up as Jerk is still trying to have his way with Flor; so Teo gets up mad as a bull and goes after Jerk. As Val tells him how to hit Jerk, Teo punches Jerk several times and knocks him down. Flor looks for something to defend herself; so she grabs a skillet and hits Jerk on the head. Val is still doing his boxing moves happy that he guided Teo until he sees Flor hugging Teo.
Marga calls someone to complain that Father Elpi is not allowing her to restore some of the art in the church. She assures the person that she won’t let down Judge Hidalgo and thanks him for his support.
The dance students are at Carmen’s academy complaining that their parents forced them to come back to the class. They decide to walk out, but Carmen arrives and welcomes them back to HER academy…the only one in this town whose name she can’t pronounce. When the students ask who will teach them and Carmen responds that the best dance teacher will instruct them, they assume it’s Flor, but Carmen clarifies that she will be the one to instruct them. The students groan in disappointment. Carmen puts on some dance music, but the students frown and put on the type of music they want to dance to. After much urging, Carmen starts to dance to their music, but ends up collapsing. The students try performing CPR, but they are unsuccessful
Marga goes back to church. Father already received the call telling him to allow her to do her work. Marga still wants to hear his confession. Father finds it difficult to talk about the past because it is very painful. She was married with two daughters…his conscious wouldn’t allow him to destroy a family; so he entered the seminary. He had to leave so she could remain with her family…like it needed to be. When he remarks that it was the right thing to do, Marga wonders who it was right for because it sunk her into a world of pain, confusion and insecurity; she felt abandoned and used. Father knows he can’t erase the pain he caused her, but he has suffered very much too. He had to leave before doing something they wouldn’t be able to turn back from. Marge then stands and recalls (flashback) how she told her husband that he changed after their daughters were born and how he reproached her for having an affair. When Narciso, her husband asked if Aure was his son, she responded, “No.” Narciso then left. (Flashback over) Father Elpi then tells Marga that it is her turn to confess. Marga talks about how she felt about Father Elpi…she was so in love. She waited for him on that certain day, but he never showed up…he abandoned her at the worst time. Just then, Aure runs in…he needs to talk to Father Elpi alone; so Marga leaves.
Ep 20, Part 2: Flor Sees a Ghost!
Flor thanks Teo for rescuing her. As Val points out that she should thank him too, Flor tells Teo that he is like her guardian angel; he always arrives at the right moment. Val insists that he is the one who is her guardian angel. When Teo suggests that they go look for some rooms, Val stresses that it had better be two rooms.
At the church, Aure has told Father about his affair. When Father asks him if there is something he can do to make things right, Aure tells him that Marian is furious. He worries about his daughter who is taking it hard. Father urges him to find a way to make things right, but Aure knows that it is impossible since Mariana won’t listen to him. When he pleads with Father to talk to Mariana, Father agrees.
At the dance studio, the students are crying as the paramedics state that there is nothing they could do. The paramedics then tell the students that they need to leave.
Father and Aure are with Mariana. After Father tells her that Aure is willing to take responsibility, Mariana reminds Father that the bible states that a person who commits adultery doesn’t sin just against the wife, but also his family. Aurs hangs his head low with guilt. Father reminds Mariana that sins should be forgiven when one repents, but Mariana argues that she did forgive…several times. Now she is tired of forgiving and won’t forgive anymore. She then thanks Father for his visit, but Father insists that love should be fought for until the last second. Mariana agrees and adds that the last second has already passed. Father won’t give up and tells Mariana that they need couple’s therapy…and he will be the one to provide it. Aure smiles.
Flor enters the hotel room. Val is on the bed telling Teo that he can now leave. After Teo asks Flor is she is alright, Flor admits that she isn’t. Val is now behind Teo as Teo closes the door and goes to sit beside Flor on the bed. Flor feels so much anger….not just at the situation, but at herself for having gotten in the car with Jerk. She can’t believe the jerk would want something in return for giving her a ride…she doesn’t understand how people can be that way. Teo comforts her as she thinks about what could have happened to her if he hadn’t arrived. When Flor wonders what’s wrong with men, Teo points out that not all men are bad. As she lays her head on Teo’s shoulder, Val reenters and is upset at how Teo is holding Flor. Flor thinks that everything she does goes wrong; bad luck seems to follow her. Teo assures her that, together, they will be rid of her bad luck. As Teo kisses Flor, Val leaves; he doesn’t want to see this. When Teo tells Flor that he has dreamed of kissing her all his life, Flor responds that she isn’t ready. Teo understands; he just wants to be with her without expecting anything in return.
Mariana agrees to only one therapy session, but she has no intention of taking Aure back. Later, Mariana looks for Xochitl, but Xochitl is gone! She goes outside looking for her daughter. She then calls Aure asking where he took Xochitl. Meanwhile, Xochitl calls Diego and asks if she can stay with them since she is on her way to the city. She asks Diego not to tell anyone she is going there.
Mariana, Aure and Chile are now talking with Rose and Marga. When Chile comments that it is not unusual for a child to run away when parents separate, Marga realizes why Aure wanted to talk to Father Elpi earlier. She then tells them that it doesn’t matter; the important thing is to find Xochitl. They all going out asking if anyone has seen Xochitl.
Val goes back into the room only to see Teo and Flor kissing again. He yells at them to stop and orders Teo to let her go. Val wishes he could break all the glass in the room and even tear down the room, but it is futile. Teo and Flor lay on the bed kissing as Val watches in disgust.
Ep 20, Part 3: Flor Sees a Ghost!
Mariana blames Aure for Xochitl leaving. Rose thinks Xochitl is following in Flor’s footsteps. As they all yell at each other, Nestór, the cop, stands and yells at them that they need to remain calm.
At the hotel, Teo and Flor lay in bed facing each other unable to believe that they are with each other. Flor feels bad because of Oriana, but Teo assures her that Oriana is fine. He was thinking of the day he gave Flor the ring and wonders what would have happened if she had said yes. They laugh as they think it may have ended in arguments. Teo thinks that this is a good start to have her fall in love with him. After a while, Flor gets up from the bed thinking about whether she should stay away from Teo. As Val urges her to leave, Flor quickly goes back to laying down close to Teo. Val is beside himself and lays down on the edge of the bed.
Mariana calls Elsa to ask if they have heard from Xochitl. Elsa hasn’t heard from her, but will ask Diego.
Nestór takes Carmen’s body to the funeral home. Chile tells him not to be leaving her there; what is he supposed to do with it? Tere tells him he needs to prepare the body for the burial and give Chile some of Carmen’s clothes so he can dress her. When Chile asks Tere what happened to Carmen, Tere reminds him that she was one of three that fell into the grave during Val’s funeral. Legend has it that whoever falls into a grave shall die…she wonders who will be next.
Aure is still out looking for Xochitl. A bus driver tells him that she got on a bus to Mexico City. Chile then calls him to tell him that he needs his help in preparing a body, but Aure is busy looking for his daughter.
The Next Morning—
Flor and Teo talk. Teo thinks it was the best night of his life, but Flor doesn’t want to give him any false hopes. They end up kissing again…as Val watches and reminds Teo that Flor is a respectable widow. Later, Flor tells Teo that he can’t go with her; she’ll only bring him down. Teo insists that he will go with her wherever she decides to go; he can get a job anywhere. He thinks that a true love is something you work for on a daily basis…he is willing to go wherever she wants and asks her to let him love her.
Aure calls Mariana and tells her he found a lead and is going to the city. Later, Mariana catches up to Aure at the bus station. As she cries, Aure assures her that they will find Xochitl; they already know where she is headed. They will look all over for her. Mariana cries as she thinks about the bad things that could happen to Xochitl, so Aure assures her again that they will find her; they need to figure out where Xochitl would go. He hugs Mariana tightly as she cries, but Mariana pushes him away and tells him she doesn’t want him making anything of their hug. She then remembers to call Flor in case Xochitl calls her.
Flor is very pensive as Val reminds her that he is the love of her life. Flor then turns to Teo and tells him that she doesn’t know how to respond to him; so Teo assures her that he is not wanting to be a substitute for anyone nor is he rushing her. He loves her and is convinced that she is the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with. For Flor, the night was very comforting; she felt a peace that she had been searching for. Just then the phone rings. Mariana tells her about Xochitl; so Flor tells her she will meet her back in town. Flor then tells Teo that they need to go back. When Teo asks if she will give him an opportunity, Flor responds that, if she could give a fraud an opportunity, then she should definitely give him one...she knows what kind of man Teo is. Flor has a headache, so she goes to the bathroom to look for some aspirin. When she can’t find any, she asks Teo if he found some. As she looks up at the bathroom mirror, she sees VAL!! She quickly turns around and, as she looks straight at him, she calls out, “Valentin?”
Flor sees a ghost indeed Rgv Chick!
I envisioned every scene perfectly thanks to your excellent descriptions, not only of the situations but the characters themselves. Just outstanding!
"Marga talks about how she felt about Father Elpi…she was so in love. She waited for him on that certain day, but he never showed up…he abandoned her at the worst time" was exquisitely crafted and we understood her passion. And her heartbreak.
“Xochitl blames her for running him off…she forced him to leave”. Usually, most blame one or the other, isn’t it? While this scenario rings sadly true, often, children rally to the “remaining” parent and have cruel contempt for the departing parent. I speak from personal experience. Sigh.
So the priest is Aure’s father. I have a bit of difficulty seeing Marga not only as a young woman madly in love but one who was passionate about Chile! She seems so…cold and lifeless.
I’d say Carmen I hardly knew you, but that wouldn’t be true. I didn’t know you at all – not being able to conjure up your image.
“Teo assures her that he is not wanting to be a substitute for anyone nor is he rushing her. He loves her and is convinced that she is the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with”. Teo is true and I think it might have been a smooth path for these two except for “…she looks up at the bathroom mirror, she sees VAL!!” Yikes.
“Teo and Flor lay on the bed kissing as Val watches in disgust”. Awkward!
Rgv Chick, another marvelous outing. Thank you, thank you!
Diana
RGV Chick: FINALLY Beto came to the rescue for Marina. I'm assuming she finally got clothes on considering Creepy Doc had stripped her naked last week & held her prisoner.
Thank s Nina, TF, Andy, Doris and Steve.
TF, I agree that Su and Don L are anticipating that the DNA tests will show that Marina is not his daughter. So WRONG!! but, as like Doris, I fear that Su will try to alter the results somehow just to make sure that Don L thinks that Marina is not his daughter.I als agree ttha Pru needs to kick Don L to the hard...one good kick will do it!
Nina, I can also see those dollar signs in Sudoodoo's eyes. The woman wil go to anyl lengths to get the Ocaranza money. I'm wondering if she might try to get Vanesa to make a move on Don L to make sure they get the money.
Andy, I laughed at the site of Sudoodoo's chiropractic techniques. I was SO hopeoing that she'd break his neck...but that would be too soon right? I like your ending...keeping my fingers crossed.
Doris, I had to laugh at the chugging of the liquor too. Odd that mean ol' LousyAss is the one who is making us laugh. I still shake my head and smile when I think of him whistling as he drove Marina to Doc's house.
Steve, yes, Marina was clothed. I'm sure Doc finally gave her the clothes since he was planning to split town with her right away.
Diana, thank you for your thoughts.
"“Xochitl blames her for running him off…she forced him to leave”. Usually, most blame one or the other, isn’t it? While this scenario rings sadly true, often, children rally to the “remaining” parent and have cruel contempt for the departing parent. I speak from personal experience. Sigh." This was definitely true to life. I never experienced it and I am so sorry you did. I can't say I was lucky because the reason I didn't experience it was because my father died when I was just a baby and my mother never remarried.
Val was definitely feeling awkward and upset about Teo and Flor kissing. Flor sure is moving on fast so I really don't blame Val. How long has it been since he died? Just a few days, I would think.
Carmen was a thin, uptight woman how wore her hair in a bun. You didn't miss much, but it was odd how she just collapsed right after finally "letting lose" as she danced.
Thanks, RGV. Haven't seen either episode yet. Just wanted you to know I'm still in the land of the living. It's finally drying out here in the Mid-Atlantic. They promised sun but it keeps hiding. Off to run errands.
MIRADA
Thank goodness Marina was rescued before we had to live through Doc Mask forcing her to the airport or a bus or a car, juarever and Beto having to follow to the Greek Islands to find her.
Poor thing. She's convinced Doc Mask had his way with her.
Su shouldn't care how the DNA results come out. She'd be better off if Marina was declared the biological daughter because then Vanesa inherits. (Ya, Andy, I agree, she would marry Lino in a heartbeat if SHE had a lot of money. Not so sure Lino would go for it, though.) If Beto is the bio-child (which would entail altering the results), it's iffy that Beto would turn to Vanesa for comfort if something fatal happens to Marina. I'm sure that is on Sudoodoo's mind, though--something irreversible.
FLOR
Can't wait to see the snuggles in bed with Val watching. Now, with Flor being able to "see" Val it will be fun for us--and embarrassing for Flor to think she has an observer for her most intimate moments.
Rgv Chick, I'm so sorry you lost your father so very, very young. That must have been just terrible for you and your mother. If I were a betting woman I would imagine she was a wonderful, strong intelligent woman. The acorn doesn't fall far...:)
And of course you are right about Flor moving fast. It's only been a hot minute since Val died, right? I will cut her a bit of slack because she thinks Val done her wrong...the snuggling I can understand - the kissing, well...But yes, her "thinking she has an observer for her most intimate moments" would throw cold water on just about anyone!
Diana
Hi TF!!!
So nice to see your post. I've only "seen" you a bit on and off since La Malquerida days.
Hmmm. I couldn't help but notice Osvaldo de León is also in Mirada. Pure coincidence... He is one huge reason I'm sorry I can't watch this. I still think he and Africa Zavala were one of the most romantic couples. Ever!

Ep 37: Part 1 Bloodlines and Blood Ties
In town, Baldo runs into Ramona who tells him that she no longer works for Doc because he is leaving with Marina. Baldo tells her how Beto went for Marina; so Doc isnot going to get his way. He then tells Ramona that if she sees Dc to tell him not to get near Marina because she has many who will protect her.
Angsty tells Beto that his mother adores him and his father cherishes him. Beto responds that they thought he was their son…he now needs to give up everything. Angst tells him not to get ahead of himself, but Beto tells her that Marina deserves what he has; she is the one who should have a career. Angsty assures him that she will have a career because he will help her. Marina also has the love that every woman wants; if things had been different, they would have never met. Angsty begs him not to make her feel worse than she already does. Beto knows that she did everything for Pru, but he can’t forget that he is not Luis Albert Ocaranza. When he asks for his bio parent’s last name, Angsty doesn’t remember, but knows that they are buried at the cemetery. Beto regards himself the son of humble farmers and thinks about his mother who is not his mother. When Angsty tells him how Pru loved him from the second she put him in her arms, Beto is shocked that his mother knew.
Vanesa thinks about Don L telling her he will give her everything. She smiles as she thinks what she could do with all the money.
Angsty admits that Pru knew that her daughter had died and that destiny was giving her a chance to be a mother…Pru loves him with all her heart as does Angsty. She hugs him as she tells him that she loves him too.
Marina asks Dami what they should do. Dami thinks they should stay until Don L acknowledges that she is his daughter. When Marina notes that he hasn’t even come to apologize for having taken her to Doc’s house. Dami assures her that he won’t ever do that.
Erasmo finds out that Mag et al are leaving the ranch and asks Lino how things happened. Mago is the best foremen in the region and all the workers are proud to work under him. Erasmo then gets an idea. He riles up the other workers and asks them if they are going to allow Lino and Mago to leave. They shouldn’t allow it to happen. Lino reminds them that the Boss rules, but Erasmo retorts that the boss can’t treat them like that…they will support Mago and Lino.
Dami questions Marina about what happened when she was at Doc’s house, but Marina doesn’t want to think about it. When Dami urges her to tell her what happened, Marina begs her not to ask.
Baldo goes to talk to Marina who is in the kitchen. Baldo tells her that he just came from Doc’s who told him some awful things…he wants her to assure him that Doc didn’t hurt her. Marina sobs that Doc violated her. She is very ashamed and won’t be able to be herself again. She then tells Baldo how Doc drugged her; she woke up and realized what happened She pleaded with Doc to let her go, but he had her locked in. Marina continues to tell him everything Doc told her about being obsessed with her and that she was now his. Baldo emphasizes that nothing justifies what Doc did. Marina just wishes that this horrible nightmare could end.
Ep 37: Part 2 Bloodlines and Family Ties
Beto talks to Don L who tells him that he will be asking for a DNA test for him and Marina. Don L wants things to continue as they have always been regardless of the outcome; Beto will continue being his son and he wants no one to find out what is happening. When Beto argues that Marina has a right to everything that should be hers, Don L insists that it will be proven that she is not his daughter. Don L wants Beto to continue living there. Beto then wonders if Don L thinks that he can forgive him for all he did to Marina knowing that she was the woman he loved. Beto will never forgive him; and Don L will never forgive that he went against him. Beto offers to go along with Don L’s plan to continue being known as his son as long as he gives Marina what is rightfully hers; if he doesn’t agree then there is no deal. After Don L agrees, Beto tells him that he also needs to ask Marina for forgiveness. Don L points out that he is not one to ask for forgiveness; so Beto insists that if he doesn’t do it; he will tell the world that he is not his son.
Horti runs to Pru and tells her that the workers are asking to talk to Don L. Pru goes to inform Don L. When Don L leaves, Pru explains to Beto that the workers don’t want Mago to leave. Beto is surprised that Don L ran off Mago.
Outside, Don L shouts as he asks what they want. Erasmo tells him that if Mago leaves, they all leave. When Don L tells them that Mago betrayed him, Erasmo still insists that they will all leave if Mago leaves. As Don L tells them to go ahead and leave, Pru comes out and speaks up for the men who make the ranch what it is. If they don’t want someone to leave, then Don L should listen. Don L tells them that no one tells him what to do, so Erasmo reminds him how long Mago has worked there and has been loyal to him. Don L tells them that they will talk in the morning. Afterwards, Pru tells Beto what the men said. When Beto tells her that “that man” won’t budge, Pru reminds him that he is talking about his father. Beto then tells her that Don L wants him to continue as his son, but that only means that he won’t give Marina what is rightfully hers. Pru thinks all this will be resolved when they get the DNA results. Pru then asks him to stay there with Marina. Beto warns that Don L better not do anything against Marina because there are no longer any blood ties that will keep him from going against Don L.
Marina is still with Baldo and tells him how she tried to reason with Doc, but he wouldn’t listen. Doc is filled with resentment and rage because of how he got disfigured when he saved her. Baldo reminds her that she is not at fault. Marina cries as she asks what she should do; she feels dirty and unworthy of having Beto touch her…she can’t let him touch her…what will she do? As Baldo gives her a consoling hug, Beto approaches and asks if something is wrong. Baldo replies that Marina was just telling him about all the news and got emotional. Beto reassures Marina that all the changes will only bring good. He is going to give up his name and everything that goes with it…he doesn’t need it. Marina doesn’t think he should give everything up; she isn’t interested in their last name or their money. Beto then tells her that Pru wants them to stay there until they get the test results…that will help Don L accept the truth. Marina cries that she doesn’t feel comfortable and doesn’t want to be there.
Erasmo goes to tell Mago and family what they did. Mago doesn’t think they should have done that since they have families to support. Erasmo then tells them how Pru supported them and Don L agreed to thinks about it. After Erasmo leaves, Yola runs after him and gives him a kiss…she appreciates what he did. Erasmo points out that they love her father very much and he loves her too. Yola tells him that no matter what happens, she appreciates him. After she gives him another kiss and leaves, Erasmo thinks that she does love him after all.
Ep 37: Part 3 Bloodlines and Family Ties
Pru chides Don L for being the way he is with the workers and everyone else. When he wonders why she has gotten so assertive, Pru responds that now she is not just fighting for herself, but for her daughter too. Don L laughs and insists that the blind one is not his daughter. When Pru insists that Beto, Marina, and Dami will stay there, Don L raises his hand to strike her, but Su enters and calls out his name. She then tells them that she found a lab in town and they have an appointment for the next morning.
Doc is drinking his sorrows away when Don L calls and asks why he didn’t take the blind girl far away. After Doc counters that he should have told him that Beto was going to return quickly, Don L tells him that Marina went back to the ranch with Dami who asserts that Marina is his daughter…blood of his blood. Don L wants to find away to end the marriage; so Doc tells him not to worry; Marina will be the one to end the marriage.
Pru goes to tell Marina and Dami about the appointment for the test. After Pru leaves, Beto enters to tell Marina about the appointment. Dami then leaves them alone, so Beto tells Marina that he knows she is probably feeling many emotions, but he has noticed that she is not treating him the way she usually does. After Marina tells him that she is just tired, Beto opts to let her rest and tries to give her a kiss, but Marina avoids him. Beto then tells her he loves her and gently kisses her on the cheek. After he leaves, Marina lays down and cries.
Pru goes to her bedroom where Don L is looking for his pjs. She is not looking forward to seeing Don L eat his words. Don L only wants to forget this horrible day.
Angsty enters to see Marina and ask her to forgive her, but Marina doesn’t think she has anything to forgive her. Angsy tells her that she is a good person and happiness will only follow. Marina coldly asks her to leave her so she can rest.
Su tells Vanesa that now that Pru is defending the blind girl, her stuttering has disappeared. They just need to wait for the DNA results and go look for the marriage certificate at the court. When she reminds Vanesa that she will get all the fortune if Marina turns out to be the daughter, Vanesa points out that, if that happens, she won’t have to marry a millionaire. Su hopes she won’t be stupid enough to marry some alley cat.
Pru goes to the kitchen for some warm milk. She asks Horti to treat Marina as if she were her daughter…because Marina is her daughter. Horti’s eyes widen.
Tori tells Baldo he doesn’t understand…as he tries to figure out who Marina’s parents are. When Baldo tells him that Marina is an Ocaranza and that no one will rob her of her happiness…not even that disgrace of a man, Tori thinks he is talking about the devil; so Baldo tells him that this devil lives in town. Tori cries because he doesn’t want there to be another devil.
Marina lays in bed recalling her nightmare with Doc. When she recalls that Doc insisted that she tell Beto that she was in his bed, Marina cries as she wonders what she should do.
The Next Morning—
Beto sees Vanesa in the kitchen. She reproaches him for not telling her that he was married. Beto reminds her that he tried to tell her to get on with his life. They then talks about the DNA results as Marina approaches. Vanesa congratulates her on the marriage and wishes her luck with the test. After she leaves, Beto tries to hug Marina but she moves away. He thinks she is only nervous about the exam. After he goes to tell Pru that they are leaving, Marina breathes deeply.
Rgv Chickie, thanks for another great recap.
Erasmo gets Brownie points with Yola! At least someone is getting somewhere.
Don Louse is a bit ridiculous, swaggering around with that long crop or fuete or whatever it is.
But, "Su tells Vanesa that now that Pru is defending the blind girl, her stuttering has disappeared." Oh, good grief, has she been stuttering? So much for my ability to multi-task and watch the TN while doing something else on the computer. I never noticed any stuttering. Maybe I can only recognize stuttering in English? :-)
andy
Thank you for another great recap, Rgv Chick, and great title!
Yessss!!! Pru has grown a spine and is standing up to the Louse! (new hair look). I loved it when she went out and spoke up for the farm hands.
Poor Marina and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Seriously, she is entitled to a major meltdown. It is all just too much to take in all at once. Bless her heart. The worst being that Doc rufied her and then made her think he raped her. Scumbag.
Pru totally won me over when she did that little sneer thing with her upper lip during the convo with Louse (and Su) about the DNA test.
I am so not looking forward to Su falsifying the DNA test results, and we know she will. It's in the Telenovela Rules. But then, she might leave them alone in hopes the Louse will give it all to Vane. Though it seems like Pru would have some say in all that. Gah....must see TV.
Ep 21: Part 1 Decisions, Decisions!
Flor sees Val and walks toward him, but Val vanishes as he tries to say something. Flor then walks out of the bathroom in a daze. After Teo gives her the aspirin, he goes for a glass of water while Flor walks around the room looking stunned.
Itza is with Chile at the funeral home. She is helping him prepare Carmen for burial, Chile is beside himself because he has no clue as to how to prepare a body for burial; so Itza explains that he will have to open up the body and take out everything so he can embalm it. He needs to remove all the liquids and organs…kinda like gutting a turkey. Chile argues that he doesn’t know how to do that and as Itza gets more specific with what he needs to do, she hears a thud—Chile fainted!
Teo and Flor walk to the truck, Teo offers to check Flor to see if she is alright, but Flor thinks that what she needs is psychotherapy. When Teo asks why she thinks that, Flor explains that after their night together she started thinking about Val. Val, who is on top of the truck, swoops down to the window and tells Flor that that is the least she could do. When she says that it probably sounds absurd, Val swoops down again and tells her that it’s not absurd…he is right there. Flor thinks that it is just the power of suggestion. Teo assures her that she didn’t do anything that should make her feel guilty or that should make her think of Val. Val swoops down once more and chides Teo for telling Flor that she should not be thinking about him. Flor knows she shouldn’t feel guilty for a man who hurt her so much.
Octi is busy doing some paperwork when Paris comes to him to ask if he liked her routine. She also insists that she doesn’t just want to be the star of the casino, she wants to be HIS star.
Flor asks Teo to stop the truck. She thinks she should report the red car jerk…men like him shouldn’t get away with what they do. Teo agrees to accompany her.
Itza manages to wake Chile up. He tells her that he caught him offguard when she told him about removing the body’s organs. Itza then tells him that he also has to fill the body with something or it’ll be too hollow. Chile hopes that she will help him, but Itza can only help him with make-up and hairstyling. Chile starts to faint again.
Val is sitting between Flor and Teo in the truck when he suddenly hears Chile cry out to him. Val then finds himself beamed to Chile’s funeral home. And complains because he won’t be able to find Flor. Chile calls out to Valdeghost, but there is no answer. Val is having a fit because Chile called to him after such a long time of not thinking about him. When Val kicks a cart, the cart moves so Chile yells out in fear as he swings at the air with his scalpel.
Oscarella is announcing that Xochitl is still missing and asking the community to call if they see her. Meanwhile, Rose is insisting that Mica tell her where Teo is; so Mica tells him that he went to look for Flor.
Octi is begging Sami to give him another chance. When Sami reminds him that he removed her as the star of the show; Octi offers to have her share the spotlight with Paris. As he hugs her, Sami agrees, but she needs to take a shower first.
Flor calls Rose to ask about Xochitl who avoids talking about Xochitl since she’d rather ask how Flor is and who she is with. When Flor tells her she is with Teo and offers to let her talk to him, Rose refuses and tells her that they should just hurry up and get back so they can help in the search for Xochitl. Rose hangs up on Flor; so Flor tells Teo that Rose sounded strange and wonders if there is something he needs to tell her. Teo admits that he tried going out with Rose after Flor left, but it didn’t work out; and he made it clear to Rose that they could only be friends. He then tells her about Rose being Oscar’s girlfriend. Flor is shocked.
Ep 21: Part 2 Decisions, Decisions!
Valdeghost is with Lady Delegate when they hear a siren. Lady Ghost tells him that his time is almost up. When Valdeghost asks to stay longer, Lady Del tell him that he will be allowed to stay if he goes back and corrects all the wrong he did to Val. Valdeghost complains so Lady Del tells him that she can push the red button on the phone and send him to the vice-president of inconclusive cases…better known as the one waaay down there. Valdeghost wonders how it is down there; so Lady Del explains that each case is different…some spend their entire time listening to a screeching that sounds like nails on a chalkboard. She reminds him that he only has few hours to do what he is told…or she will press the button.
Octi gets tired of waiting for Sami; so he goes looking for her in the bathroom, but Sami is long gone…out the window.
Sami talks to Paris’s not-so-good friend and asks for her help. The NSG friend agrees because she has always idolized Sami. When she suggests that she leave Octi, Sami refuses to do so because she has invested too much time in the casino and she isn’t going to let a husband robber take everything from her.
Paris goes to Octi who was summoned by Octi. When he tells her a little problem, she thinks it’s Sami, but when Octi smirks and tells her it’s another type of problem, Paris understands and pushes Octi onto the bed.
Lola, a dance student, wonders where she will learn to dance. She tells her aunt (one of the HTT ladies) that she wants to go to the city to study. The aunt tells her that she is ungrateful since she has taken care of her since her parents died; the aunt is not going to give her any of the money her parents left her to go spend it on useless lessons. Lola tells her that she can keep the money; she is leaving that same day.
Valedghost finds Val and tells him that he only has a few hours before he has to leave earth…he doesn’t know if he is go up or down. Val wonders what he is going to do since Valdeghost is the only one he can talk to. Valdeghost tells him to follow him. They go to Chile and Valdeghost tells him that Val is with him. He needs to teach them how to communicate with each other.
Lola tells Lalo, the other student, that she needs to find a job because she can’t live with her aunt anymore. Lalo would offer her a place to stay, but she knows how Fanny is (DK who Fanny is…sister??). When Lalo wonders if she is going to go work at the casino, Lola thinks about it.
Valdghost is trying to get Chile to hear Val. He sits them with their backs to each other and tells Chile that he first needs to forgive Val. When Chile remarks that he is very angry at Val, Val tells Valdeghost to remind Chile that they were going to be friends forever. Val asks Valdeghost to remind Chile how they ran away from the orphanage, but when they realized that they had forgotten their canary, Fifi, they had to go back for it. Valdeghost reminds Chile about Fifi and as Val talks and gives more details, Chile hears him. Chile jumps up excited to hear Val and calls out to him. Val tells him he is right in front of him and Chile can still hear him. Val then tells Chile about Flor and Teo. Chile can’t believe it, but when Val convinces him, Chile thinks that if Val wants war with Teo, they need to come up with a plan. Val wants Chile to help him change Flor attitude toward him; she needs to have good feelings about him again. Chile offers to call Flor, but doesn’t think she will answer since she hates him.
Ep 21: Part 3 Decisions, Decisions!
Teo and Flor are still on their way back. When Teo gets down to go buy some drinks, Flor recalls the instances when odd things happened and she felt Val’s presence. After Chile tells Val that Flor is not answering, Val tells Chile that they need to find a way to keep Flor away fromTEo; and they also need to do something about Octi who is threatening Flor. Chile agrees to help Val if he helps him put the body in the casket.
Marga reproaches Father Elpi for not telling her that Aure and Mariana were separating. Father reminds her that this was between Aure and Mariana and he can’t be revealing anything to her. Father was only trying to help her family. When Father Elpi tells her to finish saying what she was going to confess to him before Aure interrupted, Marga has to leave.
Chile is working on Carmen when Nestór arrives with a man and a couple of the HTT ladies. They need Carmen’s body so they can take it to Father Elpi so he can bless it. They are hoping that will end the curse of the grave…they don’t want to be next to die. Chile gives them some very complicated process (that he is making up) to explain why some of Carmen’s body parts may not be where they should be.
Aure and Mariana have arrived in the city and trying to get a taxi. Mariana wonders how they will find their daughter since the city is huge. Meanwhile, Elsa is walking along when the school calls to tell her Diego isn’t in school. Elsa is surprised since she left Diego at the door of the school.
Teo stops the truck in the middle of the road since they are close to getting to town. He wants to make sure that Flor is okay with returning to town. He also wants to assure her that he will be there for her as a friend or her lifelong partner.
Valdeghost recalls Lady Del telling him that his time is almost up; so he confesses to Val that he has been lying to him all along; he is also responsible for Val not winning the lottery a year ago (a year ago? Time must have flown!). Val asks where the ticket is, but Valdeghost tells him he can’t get it back. Valdeghost is sorry for everything he did. As they argue, Chile stands up and tells them to look to see who returned.
Diego and Xochitl are in town wondering where to go. Diego wants to go back to his house since his mother is not there right now, but Xochitl is afraid his mother will arrive unexpectedly and catch them.
Nestor and some HTT ladies watch as Flor and Teo arrive. Flor looks around and tells Teo that they are all watching and probably criticizing her since she left a widow and has come back with him. She thinks that Nestór is there waiting to arrest her…but Flor doesn’t care and neither does Teo. As they walk hand in hand, Val is having a fit; he wants to appear to Teo and scare him to death (literally). Valdeghost stops him and tells him he is just going to make a fool of himself. He adds that it took him almost a year to figure out why he was there. Val can do it…he can avoid a life of living in limbo full of suffering and anguish. They each have a specified time to spend there; if Val doesn’t resolve his problems, he might end up going to hell. Valdeghost knows that it hurts Val to know that Flor will forget him, but Val needs to let go of Flor and let her continue on with her life. If he truly lets her go now, Val can go with him now to paradise. If he doesn’t do it, then Val will stay there more time…Valdeghost doesn’t know how long Val will have to stay. He then reiterates that it’s up to Val if he wants to go to paradise or to hell for an eternity.
Valdeghost tris to convince Val to resolve his problems quickly because their time on earth is limited. He tells Val that he will need to let Flor go; it’s up to him if he wants to go to paradise or hell. Val is jittery as he wonders what he should do.
Rgv Chick, you are an amazing storyteller. Among your many gifts is precisely conveying the gamut of emotions each character is feeling, making us actually experiencel what they are.
“Flor calls Rose to ask about Xochitl who avoids talking about Xochitl since she’d rather ask how Flor is and who she is with”. Pure gold.
“Chile yells out in fear as he swings at the air with his scalpel and “Chile gives them some very complicated process (that he is making up) to explain why some of Carmen’s body parts may not be where they should be” had me laughing away. “NSG friend” – we’ve all had one or two of those, haven’t we?
“Val asks Valdeghost to remind Chile how they ran away from the orphanage, but when they realized that they had forgotten their canary, Fifi, they had to go back for it”. I love these sweet glimpses into the past of these two unlikely but beyond bonded brothers.
“the vice-president of inconclusive cases…better known as the one waaay down there”. Harsh. Very harsh.
“Paris…insists that she doesn’t just want to be the star of the casino, she wants to be HIS star”. Subtlety eludes her.
Now knowing that a year has passed, Flor certainly has the right to go on with her life. In real life, I’ve known several widowers to remarry in that amount of time, leaving the first wife’s family struggling with their loved one being replaced so quickly.
“Val is jittery as he wonders what he should do”. As he should be!
Rgv Chick, thank you so very much...
Diana
Oh my, have been out of the loop. Have watched bits and pieces of Mirada and bits and pieces of la Reina, but...like Doris...am dreading the inevitable DNA switch 'n bait that Wicked Su will pull. And Marina pushing Beto away because she thinks she has been dishonored and unworthy of him. Sigh.
Well, back to laundry and some cooking. Enough kvetching over "just-a-story".
But thanks Rgv Chick, have you multiplied yourself? Or are you simply superhuman?
...and, she drinks goat milk and eats goat cheese (in 5 ways). Oh and she sprinkles rose petals all over the house.
Judy, doris and Anita, you have me laughing...
And of course you are ALL right. Rgv Chick is a wondrous one of a kind!
Diana
Thank you ever and ever so much. You are keeping this alive for me, even though I'm wavering--Jorge Salinas is a BIG pull, even if it is a ridiculous comedy, starting right out of the gates. I recognized Raul Coronado from VEA as the vengeful boyfriend. Marjorie is presented as a "nice" girl, so let's see where this goes.
So, Val can now "talk" to Chile. It sort of reminds me of the TV show, Topper (which I watched in reruns years later).
RGV-I'm ashamed I didn't read your comment as carefully as I should have. Losing a parent at any age is difficult--even as an older adult. What you experienced cannot be described, ever--never to have known the love of a father at all. Your mother, I hope, filled that emptiness for you. You charted your own path and for that we are all grateful that you are willing to share your 'self' with us.
Well, it's nice to start the day on the patio with a good laugh. Thanks, everyone, but , no, I'm not superhuman LOL. I'm enjoying these 2 TNs and I just like to spread the joy...and I do eat LOTS of dark chocolate :-)
FLOR
Diana, how I wish you could actually some of these scenes; they are hilarious. I had never seen Chile or Val in any other TN, but they do make a great comedy team along with all the other actors in this TN. Whoever did the casting outdid themselves!
"Now knowing that a year has passed, Flor certainly has the right to go on with her life." I was really surprised to hear Val say that a year had already passed; I'm still trying to figure out how so much time has passed since Val died. I'm befuddled! But I do agree with you that if a year has actually passed, then it's not unusual for Flor to move on.
Anita, I completely forgot about "Un Poquito Tuyo." I hope you have time to watch both TNs.
MIRADA
JudyB, Marina really needs to think things through and stop believing every word Doc told her; I was hoping Baldo would hint about the possibility that Doc didn't have his way with her.
Anita, Thank you for your kind words. My mom was a pillar of strength and filled the shoes of "dad" quite well. Though I don't remember my father at all, I have good memories of him through mt my mother's stories about him.
Ep 38: Part 1 The Truth Hurts Those Who Hurt
Mago gives Don L all the accounting books. When he tells Don L that he’s leaving, Don L asks if he organized the workers to come speak up for him; so Mago tells him he didn’t. When Don L tells him he is going to send all of them to hell, Mago reminds him that they are hardworkers. Don L then allows Mago to stay and reminds him to tell Lino to continue with his project. He adds that there will be changes, but he will tell him about them later,
Ramona returns to Doc; she can’t leave him alone. Doc tells her that if she returned to WORK, he has no problem.
Pru hopes that Don L accepts Mari once they have the results. When Pru wonders if Don L thinks that she is the mother, but he is not the father, she takes offense. Don L then tells her that he allowed Mago to stay; she thanks him because it’ll be good for the workers as well as Don L.
Mago tells Yola and Lino that they are staying; they hug and shout with joy.
At the lab, Pru goes in first and Beto goes in with her. Don L sits beside Marina (where is Dami and Angsty?!) and waves his hand in front of her to make sure she doesn’t see anything. He then tells her that she surprised him with the news that she had married Beto. Marina chides him for taking her to a man who is full of hate and resentment….she went through hell while she was there. When Don L doesn’t think Doc could have done anything to her, Marina tells him to be quiet. She tells him that she is there for Pru; and she doesn’t want one drop of his blood running through her veins. Meanwhile, blood is withdrawn from Pru and Beto. Afterwards, Don L and Marina have heir blood drawn. The nurse then tells Mari that she looks pale and gives her a some type of shot to strengthen her blood.
Su and Vanesa go to the town city hall to pick up the marriage certificate. The clerk tells them it’s not ready, but the couple has to come pick up the certificate or give them a signed consent.
Beto and Marina walk outside. Beto asks Marina if “that man” apologized, but Marina only shrugs and responds that he did it in his own way. Beto then tells Marina that he is going to tell Don L to give her the place she deserves. When Marina expresses that she doesn’t want to stay at the ranch, Beto tells her they will be staying in town. He then gives her the news about his job. Afterwards, Beto tells her he wants to go see his parent’s graves and wants her to go with him, but Mari wants to go to church. As he leaves, she tells him, “Good-bye, my love.” At church, she prays for courage to demand justice.
Horti tells Yola about Marina being Pru’s and Don L’s daughter. Angsty is there and gives a her a look that should have left her on the floor gasping for dear life.
Marina goes to the police station to report Doc Mask for rape. The detective is a jerk and very insensitive; he even implies that she may have provoked the assault. When Marina asks if he doesn’t believe her, the detective tells her she will have to undergo a medical and psychological exam. Marina agrees as long as justice is served.
Yola runs to Lino and Mago to tell them the news about Marina. They tease her and think she is on something, so Yola goes to town to look for Marina.
Marina is in with the also insensitive doctor who tells her to undress completely and get on the bed. As he guides her he touches her, so Marina panics and leaves.
Ep 38: Part 2 The Truth Hurts Those Who Hurt
Beto is at the cemetery looking at his parent’s graves. When he states that his last name is Gonzalez Hernandez, Baldo tells him that he will always be an Ocaranza to everyone, but Beto argues that the last name belongs to Marina…he is going to give up the Ocaranza name. Tori, who has been listening, asks if that can be done. Tori doesn’t even remember his own last name, so Baldo tells him it’s “Guzmán.” Tori laughs as he keeps repeating his full name. Beto then asks Tori some questions so he can figure out what kind of doctor he should take him to. Tori tells him that he has nightmares. Beto then asks him if his condition happened after the gunshot, but Tori doesn’t remember. Baldo tells Beto that Tori was as normal as they are. Beto then asks Tori if he still gets headaches; and Tori tells him he only has nightmares now…horrible nightmares. As he tells Beto about the nightmares, Tori cries and gets incoherent. After Beto tells Baldo that it would be best to take Tori for some studies, Baldo worries about the cost; so Beto tells him he got a job in the city and he may be able to get some discounts. Tori finally calms down. When Beto mentions that he is waiting for Marina, Baldo offers to go look for her.
Mago goes to Dami and asks about Marina; so Dami tells him it is true. It was Angsty’s idea when they thought Marina was born dead. Dami now worries that she is going to lose Marina.
Su tells Don L that she confirmed the marriage, but the certificate wasn’t ready and can only be released to the couple. Don L will get those documents, but he first wants to wait for the results of the tests. As Su massages his neck, Don L tells her that he got to talk to that “little girl” (changed from the “blind one”!) and she dared to reproach him for running her off his land. She even told him that she experienced atrocities at Doc’s place. Su thinks Marina is just playing the victim. When Don L comments that Marina already won over Pru, Su remarks that when Pru finds out the truth…she will have to come begging him on her knees for forgiveness. She laments that Don L is married to a woman who doesn’t deserve him. Horti then comes in and tells Don L that Zackrat is waiting to talk to him.
Zackrat enters; and Su leaves, When Zackrat comments that Don L was pushed into keeping Mago on, Don L chides him and tells him Mago will be paying for what he did…and he will tell Zackrat how.
Marina cries in church because she couldn’t go through with it. Meanwhile, Beto tells Tori that Marina is taking too long and is going to look for her. Marina goes outside as Baldo comes running to her. He was worried because Beto told him she was alone. As Marina tells him about her visit to the police station, Yola approaches and asks her what happened.
Lino is with Vanesa out by a tree. He comments that he has already found out about Marina…she must have been surprised to find out that Beto is not an Ocaranza. He makes fun of her because she left the son of a farmer to go marry the son of another farmer. Vanesa gets pissed and tells him to go ahead and make fun of her; she is used to it since she gets it from everyone. He doesn’t know what she is going through being that her mother is forcing her to do things against her will. As she yells that she wishes she wouldn’t have those feelings for him, he grabs her and she yells that she loves him. Lino assures her that he loves her too; he hasn’t been able to forget her and he thinks of her day and night wishing that he could kiss and hug her again.
Marina confides in Yola; so Yola convinces her to go back to the police station. Yola will go with her to make sure she is okay.
Mago is thanking the men and telling them to get to work when Zackrat shows up and tells the men to go work in a certain area. When Mago tells Zackrat that he is the only one who gives orders, Zackrat tells him that Don L just named him foreman.
Ep 38: Part 3 The Truth Hurts Those Who Hurt
Vanesa tells Lino that her mother will never allow her to be with him. When Lino points out that she is old enough to make her own decisions; Vanesa explains that her mother needs her to marry someone with money. Lino thinks they should keep seeing each other, but Vanesa tells him they can’t and runs off. Lino yells at her that he is going to kidnap her.
Yola is fierce as she tells the detective that Marina has a right to be interviewed and checked by females. If he doesn’t provide that, she will go to his superiors. After the detective agrees, Marina thinks Yola will make a great lawyer.
Su tells Vanesa that Mago is going to remain at the ranch and warns Su that if Lino comes around looking for her, that could change. Vanesa assures her that she hasn’t seen Lino. Su then suggests that Vanesa go talk to Don L who is feeling down with all the problems he has. When Vanesa complains, Su orders her to go so that she can be sure to get his fortune.
Vanesa goes to Don L to ask if Su has told him what they found out about Beto’s marriage. When Don L confirms that Su told him and looks disconcerted, Vanesa tells him how she would do anything to keep him from going through this.
Baldo is outside waiting as Mari and Yola leave the police station. After Yola tells Baldo that they are going to call in Doc for his statement, Baldo tells Marina that Beto is at the cemetery waiting for her. Yola wonders if Marina is going to tell Beto, but Mari is afraid Beto will want to seek justice on his own.
Lino arrives at the orchards and asks his father why Zackrat is giving orders. When Mago tells him that Zackrat is the new foreman, Lino wants to go do something about that, but Mago tells him that they should wait; Zackrat is sure to make a mistake soon in giving orders.
Yola assures Mari and hopes that Beto won’ t take the news badly. After Baldo urges her to tell Beto, Beto then sees them and Mari tells him she had something important to do. Baldo and Yola then leave them alone to talk.
Ramona asks Doc where he is going. Doc tells her he doesn’t have to be telling her anything; he just has business to take care of.
Beto has a gift for Marina—a new cane. After Mari thanks him, Beto remarks that she has been acting odd since the day before. Marina is very nervous as she tells him that the doc abused her and she doesn’t even remember how it happened. Beto takes off—he is going to kill Doc. Beto catches up to Doc in town and gives him some very well deserved punches.
Baldo tells Yola about how Doc has always been in love with Marina. He and Dami just found out recently and tried to keep Mari away from him. Baldo asks Yola not to tell anyone. Before Baldo leaves, Yola wants to talk to him…about what Dami feels for her father.
Mari catches up to Beto and tries to stop him, but Beto keeps punching Doc all over and then in the face knocking his mask off (while viewerville cheers him on) until Doc collapses to the ground. Marina cries as Beto puts his arm around her and leads her away.
Thank you, Rgv Chick, for your recap!
Beto coming up with a new folding white cane in 24 hours (or less!) for Marina was impressive! Either their local WalMart/CVS/Walgreens/Meta Mart stocks them, or he has Amazon Prime same-day delivery.
In the meantime, Marina wandering around town and the lab office without anything was a big bizarre and unrealistic. Thank goodness she did NOT encounter Doc Mask/Nut Job.
I hated how the detective and that horrible doctor treated Miranda when she tried to report the rape. Argh!!! and unfortunately, that scene was very realistic. Thank heavens for Yola, who saved the day and made them do. it. right. I have set up a Yola table on the Patio and everyone is invited to join me there.
Thank goodness Marina told Beto what Doc MNJ did not her and did not drag out THAT secret for a dozen or more episodes. Enough already with secrets!
Beto beating up Doc Nut Job was very satisfying, even though it was cringe-worthy.
Zackrat messing up in his new position should be satisfying, too.
Ep 22: Part 1 No Time to Waste
Valdeghost presses Val to make a decision—paradise or hell? Onlookers watch as Chile (who looks like he is talking to himself) tells Val that he misses him very much, but he doesn’t want him going to hell. When Chile notices that everyone is looking at him, he grabs his phone and pretends to be using it. Val decides to stay.
Mariana blames Aure for everything that is happening. When he acknowledges it, Mariana admits that it’s her fault too for staying with him during so many years of disappointment. Elsa then calls her. Meanwhile Diego and Xochtil sit at the park talking about divorced parents. He then tells her that had it been him, he would have stayed home and tried to fix everything.
Chile thanks Valdeghost for everything he has done for him. Val thanks Valdeghost too and asks if he can stay awhile. Valdeghost would like to stay, but he has nothing to stay for anymore. After he leaves, Chile continues to talk to Val and tells him he really hated Valdeghost. When Val walks away, Chile continues to talk until he realizes that Val is no longer there
Teo and Flor go see Marga. After they talk about what to do to try to help find Xotchitl, Marga asks Teo and Flor if they are together now. When Flor tells her that they are going to give it a try, Marga is relieved that she is finally coming to her senses.
Val walks in circles around Chile as he reminds Chile about how they used to kill lizards in the orphanage…Teo is going to get something worse than that. He then tells Chile that he needs to find a way to communicate with Flor. When Chile asks how, Val tells him he will have to help, but Chile thinks Flor will not want to talk to him. He understands Val’s pride was hurt, but Val needs to think about how Valdeghost told him that he needed to resolve his problems so he can go to paradise. When Val insists that his paradise is with Flor, Chile wonders where that leaves him.
Out in the town, Rose listens as the HTT ladies say that they are glad that Carmen is dead…if she knew Flor was back, she’d get another heart attack. They comment how Marga will also have a heart attack when she finds out that Flor arrived holding hands with Teo.
Diego and Xochtil arrive at Diego’s home and are greeted by their parents who are very happy and relieved to see them. Xochitl apologizes and tells them she loves them very much.
Marga is surprised that Flor regrets Carmen’s death. After Flor assures her that she does hope Carmen is resting in peace, she tells Marga that looking for Xochitl was not the only reason she returned; Flor wishes that they could salvage their relationship. She knows that they have always butted heads, but she does love her. Marga hugs her and tells her she loves her very much too.
Teo tells Flor that he has talked to his father so he can ask the judge to committ to help in finding Xochitl. Rose comes in pretending to be very excited that they are back…she knows they are together now. Just then, Marga comes in to tell them that Xochitl has been found.
HTT lady tells Lola that she can’t leave. Lol retorts that she can’t live with her (aunt); she can’t stand her anymore. When the aunt tells her that she doesn’t want her following in Flor’s steps. Lola ignores her and walks away.
Flor wants to go speak to Octi…she needs to close that chapter in her life. When she tells Teo that it’s something she needs to do alone, Teo insists on going with her to the casino and promises not to say one word.
Ep 22: Part 2 No Time to Waste
After Val and Chile find out that Xochitl has been found, Val tells Chile to follow him. Despite trying to use every excuse he can think of to avoid doing whatever it is Val has planned, Val urges him to follow him. Chile can’t see where Val is so Val keeps calling out to him so he can follow his voice.
Mari asks Xochitl why she ran away. Xochitl thought they weren’t going to care about her anymore. Mariana assures her that they are a family regardless of who lives where, but Xochitl still thinks that is not true. Mariana then tells her that they are not separating after all.
Lola goes to Octi to try to get a job. She assures him she was at the top of the class and mentions some of the dances she can do. Octi is impressed with her, but doesn’t want to hire her…he knows she is the niece of one of the town’s top gossips. Lola assures him that she is going to dance no matter who says what; so Octi gives her a chance to prove herself. Lola hopes to become the star of the show. Before she leaves, Lola asks him if he knows of a place where she can sleep since she has nowhere to go.
Mari explains to Aure that they will not be a couple; she only told Xochitl that they would be together because Xochitl is sad and suffering. Until they find a way to resolve the situation, they will continue telling Xochitl that they are staying together.
Octi takes Lola to one of the ladies and tells her to train Lola in everything that goes on in the casino. Just then Teo and Flor walk in; Flor wants to propose a deal that will benefit them both. Octi tells her that if she is going to dance she can stay, but if not, she knows where the door is. When Flor insists that she wants to propose a reasonable solution, Octi agrees to talk to her and follows her to his office as he looks back and sneers at Teo.
Teo is walking around the casino when Tito sees and greets him. He wonders why Teo is accompanying Flor. Teo assumes he is really asking if he is “with” Flor. In the office, Flor proposes that she can pay Octi in monthly payments. She suggests that selling her house will not benefit him; he would get more out of it if she paid him back with interest. Octi will agree to her proposal if she gives dance classes to his girls, especially Sami; and she can live in her house as long as she pays rent. Flor questions why she should pay rent if she is going to be paying him back. Octi tells her that she either accepts his conditions or she can leave. When they walk out of his office, they both shake hands on the agreement they came to. After she leaves, Tito wonders if Flor is going do her sensual dances; Octi is annoyed and tells him he’d better get to work. As they walk outside, Teos offers to pay off Flor’s debts, but Flor will never permit that. It would not be good for their relationship. Val sees them talking and complains that Teo never leaves Flor alone. He then tells Chile that he is going to prepare him so he can talk to Flor for him, but first Val wants to work on a prank he thought of.
Teo arrives home in a hurry since he has to go to Carmen’s funeral. Oscar wonders why he is so insistent on winning over Flor. Teo tells him that he is not going to give up…they are going to see where things go. Oscar warns him not to get his hopes up since things could turn out worse. Teo knows that Oscar is only warning him out of love and concern, but Teo has to fight for what he loves and wants.
Flor talks to Rose about Teo. When Flor asks if she is seeing Oscar, Rose says, “ah-huh” (yes). Flor explains that she has always seen Teo as a friend, but something happened that is changing the way she looks at him. Rose reminds her that she just became a widow (huh? So it hasn’t been a year?), but Flor argues that she is only wanting to give herself a chance; she needs peace and that is something Teo can offer her.
Aure and Mariana are on a bus with Xochitl who is fast asleep. Mariana tells Aure that she wants him to tell her everything about Paris…and she wants details!
Ep 22: Part 3 No Time to Waste
Chile asks Val if he is sure he wants to pull this prank. Val assures him he does and will tell Chile some details about Flor so he can talk to her with more ease. As Val gives details, Chile spray paints Teo’s truck. Later, he tells Val that he could learn to like painting graffiti. As they walk, Lady Delegate’s voice is heard to call out Val’s name. As Val looks around and wonders who is calling him, he suddenly gets pulled away until he lands in Lady Del’s office. As Lady Del walks toward him, Val wonders what he is doing there…he asks if he is in hell. Lady Del assures him that he is not in hell, but he may be headed that way since he has a really big file…he was obviously not a saint when alive. Lady Del then introduces herself as Carlota, the celestial delegate. She points out that he refused a very good offer and chose to stay on earth…she was very surprised. When she mentions that he is losing certain privileges, Val wonders what those could be; so Carlota explains that he may not figure out what his mission is and won’t be able to cross over…and his time is limited. Val is dismayed that he has a mission that he has no clue about and, on top of that, they are limiting his time. Carlota tells him that if he has a problem with it, he can discuss it with the complaint department who is on vacation…for eternity. After she wishes him luck, she disappears and he is literally dropped back into Chile’s funeral home. After he assures Chile that he is fine, he tells him that there may be missions in life, but a man has to do what he has to do. Chile thinks Val was smoking something. Val knows that he made some mistakes and deserves to be punished, but he is not leaving there without a fight.
Teo sees his truck and wonders what is wrong with the people in town. When Flor reads some of the graffiti which includes the word “flower,” Flor knows who did it, she has no doubt.
At the funeral home, Chile is trying to clean the paint off of his hand when Teo and Flor walk in. Flor chides him for spraying Teo’s truck, but Chile denies it; so they ask to his hands. As they argue, Val keeps telling Chile to tell Flor that he is there and that he wants to talk to her.
Octi takes Lola to Flor’s house and tells her that she will be living there. When Lola points out that it’s Flor’s house, Octi clarifies that it is his house and he rents it to Flor for a modest amount. When Lola insists that she thought it belonged to Flor and Val, Octi tells her she will benefit greatly by staying in that house; though she will have to pay a small rent. When he sees that Lola still feels uncomfortable; Octi tells her that staying there is the condition he is setting if she wants to work for him…she can take it or leave it.
Aure and Mariana are at a bus station waiting for their next stop. Xochitl wants them to take selfies, so Aure and Mariana agree. As they take selfies, Xochitl insists on a selfie with them kissing; so they oblige.
Chile admits it was him who spray painted the truck. He then asks Teo to step out so he can talk to Flor alone. Flor wants Teo to stay, but after Chile insists, Teo leaves. Once alone, Chile tells Flor that it wasn’t his idea; it was Val’s idea. When Flor frowns, Chile adds that Val is there and he wants to talk to her. Flor is perturbed and tells Chile that what he is doing is not fair; he shouldn’t play with her that way. Val then stands beside her and asks her to believe Chile…he is there. When Chile tells Flor that Val moved from where he was before, Flor looks at him in disbelief.
Rgv Chickie, thanks for another great one. If not superhuman you must at least be one extremely organized and productive lady.
Yola is turning out to be quite a treasure, there should be more like her to keep the world on track.
I have to wonder about the nurse or technician's giving Marina an injection. After all, this is a telenovela. :-)
Tenías Que Ser Tú
For anybody interested, the lovely, ghostly ("Forgive me for not being dead") Amanda got her money back, but I think she has lost out in love. Still, she looks great in white. :-)
andy
I hope that beto thinks ahead &
Find a way to have the test done
Somewhere else while sudoodoo &
Louseyass get sneaky at that lab
She found. You know she probly will pay the lab tec to fix the
test. But I hope they don't but
They will. I'll be surprise if they Don't.
THANK you MS CHICK.
Oh my, another stomach twister. Like Doris, I found the detective/smarmy doc scene unbearably painful to watch. Back when I lived and worked near Philadelphia, in the 70's, there was a city judge who dismissed a violent rape case of a young girl by saying "She'll get over it."
We definitely need to set up a Yola table. Maybe she could become a mentor to Vanessa and teach her how to have a little integrity. And maybe teach her some skills too, other than messing with her cellphone and smooching Lino.
I think if these cruel storylines continue (la Reina soy Yo, I'm looking at you) I'm going to have to stick to Saturday morning cartoons to keep my Spanish going. The older I get, the more these painful storylines upset me.
But not you, Rgv Chick...you are my hero for all you do for CarayCaray day after day. Thank you a gazillion times.
MIRADA
Doris, "Marina wandering around town and the lab office without anything was a big bizarre and unrealistic." I thought so too! Even when she is in a panic, the girl is supposed to get around...that is really stretching it. The least they could have done is give her a guide dog since the beginning of the show.
I'll join the Yola table!
Andy, I too wondered about the nurse giving Marina that second injection. The way she approached Marina and the dramatic music made it seem like she was up to no good.
Nina, my question is: would Su have had enough time and money to have someone mess with the results?
Judyb< how horrible that such injustices occur still today. I was hoping that Yola would go ahead and report that doctor and detective...it's still not too late. Having Yola as a mentor would be great for Vanesa!
Tenías Que Ser Tú
Andy, I watch parts of this on an almost daily basis, I saw where Amanda was watching Jenni and Marbella counting the money in the kitchen. Was she successful in grabbing it then?
Louseyass gonna get his?
He's changed from "the blind one" to "Little girl".
She actually had the nerve to get mad
At him for throwing her off "his"land.
It's her land to jackass.
That beat down reminded me of the one
Dr.Russ matthews gave Willis frame on "Another World" over 40 years ago. My brother was in the military hospital and he & the other soldiers saw that on tv.
Now if sudoodoo is thinkin pru don't deserve Don L, why don't she make a play for him, and free pru. And stop pushin vanny up to marrying for money.
Is there even a remote possibility the writers are thinkin about that? No?
Marina don't remember anything so why is she so sure something happened?
This is goin south for that marriage.
Every Time he trys to kiss her she draws up. Not good.
Thanks Ms Chick.
