• 10-11PM—La Reina del Sur 2

The sequel to the highly acclaimed novela La Reina del Sur has so far been amazingly good! If you missed any of the episodes thus far, you can find them on Telemundo's web site. Also, on Saturdays between 9-11PM, Telemundo airs a 2-hour abridged version of that week's episodes.

**A new telenovela, Un Poquito Tuyo, will begin in the 8PM time slot starting this Monday, May 13. It stars Jorge Salinas and Marjorie de Sousa.  Here's a brief synopsis from Wikipedia:

"Antonio Solano is an extremely successful family father who comes from a humble family, so he strives to give his family everything he could not have in his youth. In his eagerness that his family does not lack anything, Antonio is generous and his children Eduardo, Javier, and Viviana become good for nothing, they do nothing but spend the money in superficial things, while his wife Catalina only worries about staying beautiful with surgeries. On the day of his birthday, Antonio realizes what he has caused when none of his loved ones remembers to congratulate him, and to top it off they only appear to ask for more and more. That's when Antonio explodes and decides to put a limit. From now on each of them will have to work to earn a living. His life falls apart with the arrival of Julieta from whom he will no longer be able to separate."

Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation.  Since discussions of all the Telemundo novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for.

By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes reference to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation!

I'll put up a recap later.

LA REINA DEL SUR 2 – Lunes – Parte 1 de 2

I notice something in the previews that I must have missed before. In the flashback of Lupo during the battle in Lebanon, we see him cut some young man’s throat. Not sure if the victim was one of the “enemy” or part of his own army.

Poor, poor little Sofía. She is remembering all the things she overheard Batman say and the awful, spiteful truths the strega said to her. Sobbing, she begins wiping off the mural.

Cayetana is dining alone when her servant Charo asks if she misses the girls. The other strega snarls that she won’t lift a finger to help her granddaughters. Pepe comes in and is asked what he’s doing there at this hour. Well, he has been captured by the gypsies. Cayetana is as hard as ever with them, even telling his mother that she craps on him and his other dead ones, but they lock her and Charo in a room. Before that the gypsy (mother of Juanito) tells Cayetana that the house is now hers. They start to steal her clothes and jewelry. [I can’t remember the name of Juan’s mother.]

At the hotel Rocío gripes about the clothes she was given. ¡No me mola nada! (These don’t do a thing for me.) Seeing that Paloma is brooding, she reminds her about what they heard Teresa and Flores say: that their father betrayed Teresa for money. Paloma says she was wrong about Teresa; she’s only tried to help them. While Rocío showers, Paloma sneaks out.

Oleg and Teresa talk. He says that Francesco impressed him with the rescue of the girls. Teresa is well dressed and with makeup on. She tells Oleg that she’s going to have dinner with Francesco porque quiero despejar algunas dudas. (Clear up some doubts.) She also tells Oleg that she’s taking his doubts into consideration; she trusts Oleg’s instincts.

Carmen and her daughter are about to eat dinner when Epifanio shows up. He demonstrates some fake paternal feelings and tells her she turned out pretty; she looks like him! After some tense conversation, Epifanio pulls out the divorce papers.

Genoveva comes to see her brother and pounds on the door. This is odd. Alejandro calls the person he’s cooking for mí amor and doesn’t want his sister to see that person. Beba is worried about what the blonde TV person is going to say. [Sorry, terrible with names today!] She wants assurances that Epi is free of those charges made by Teresa Mendoza. He takes this opportunity to urge her not to make an announcement of their relationship; she needs to have patience.

Carmen tears up the divorce paper. “Why didn’t you ever ask for a divorce until now? Because you knew I’d take you back.” He tells her that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. She tells him she’s used to his sleeping with anything that has a pulse. But, if he becomes president, she’ll be the First Lady. And she'll look the other way while he sleeps with anyone he likes. He laughs in her face. He compares being First Lady to a new car and describes all the features you’d want in a new car. And, who would want una carcacha vieja (an old jalopy) like her. He gets menacing. He tells her he’ll give her a week to sign. She will sign the good way or …. After he leaves, she begins to cry.

LA REINA DEL SUR 2 – Lunes – Parte 2 de 2

Paloma goes into a store, takes a couple of items to the clerk, knocks something over. When he goes behind the counter to look, she steals something.

Teresa comes into some beautiful building. Francesco meets her. She tells him she’s no longer María, and introduces herself as Teresa Mendoza. And we get the cliché of the private dinner arranged by the romantic swain. He tells her it’s Arab food like the 1001 Nights. He’s brought some good tequila. But he says he doesn’t drink.

Sofía is doing something, but I’m not sure what it is. She uses the lighter to light a candle.

Teresa tells Francesco she doesn’t trust people who don’t drink. She thinks they’re afraid to let go, to talk. She tells him she only agreed to this dinner because she wanted to look him in the eye and have him tell her what he’s hiding from her. She asks him if he knew Teo Aljarafe. He says not. Then she asks him if he knows Cayetana Aljarafe. At this we see a flashback of Cayetana congratulating Lupo for having located Teresa. She gives him some big stacks of money, and he gives her a file. Francesco tells Teresa he doesn't know Cayetana Aljarafe.

Francesco: “What I read in your gaze…” Teresa: a ver si atines. (Let’s see if you guess right.) Francesco: “You agreed to this dinner because you think I had something to do with kidnapping your daughter.” Teresa: le atinaste (You got it!)

Paloma comes back to the hotel room and is chewed out by Rocío. It turns out what she stole was a pregnancy test; she’s having a gypsy baby! She’s desperate. Her sister leans in close and tells her she’s not having the baby.

At Cayetana’s estate we see the gypsies bring Juanito somewhere in a rather small coffin. There’s lots of torches and wailing. I believe Cayetana said it was the bull ring.

Teresa and Francesco drink some more. He’s getting drunk. He finally tells her he’s an orphan.

It appears that Cayetana may have had a heart attack, but the gypsy on guard won’t let Charo call an ambulance.

It appears Carmen really still is afraid of Sofía, despite what she said last episode. She does some incantations on the door of Sofía’s room. Then she tells Batman that if Lupo doesn’t come soon ella va a pelarse (take off). Sofía has her ear to the door listening to what they say. Then she gets out a plastic bag and starts doing whatever she’s planning. I have no idea.

Lupo tries to find out when Teresa is leaving for Mexico, but she’s evasive.

OK, editorial comment by novelera. Teresa saw the word Lupo in the mural Sofía showed her and immediately gets it right. Lupo kidnapped her daughter. She tells Oleg that lupo is Italian for lobo (wolf). So she thinks the person who kidnapped her daughter is named Lupo. So she is a bit suspicious of him, but it seemed to take her a long time to be suspicious of an Italian.

reina-sur2

Thanks so much, novelera, for this excellent recap that even included some helpful Spanish. I especially appreciated ¡No me mola nada!

At one point, Paloma tells Rocio that she's feeling sorry for their grandmother. I thought, oh no, not again. But to my surprise, that somehow segued into Paloma's saying that Teresa was the only one who helped them, and that she (Paloma) had been wrong about her grandmother and about Rocio.

I may be mistaken, but I think it was Carmen who said to Epifanio "You can't teach an old dog, new tricks." She said it as she was proposing her counter-offer: "since one can't teach an old dog new tricks, you (Epifanio) can still sleep around with as many women as you want/can, but in public, I'm your legitimate wife, and if you become president, I'm the First Lady." But wow, Epifanio's response (the car metaphor) was pretty cruel. I fear Carmen doesn't have what it takes to battle Epifanio successfully.

When Alejandro was so emphatic about Veva's not seeing who was with him, I wondered whether it might have been Marietta Lancaster, the news journalist who announced that on her next program, she'd tell all she and her team had uncovered about Epifanio Vargas [if she lives that long]. It seems unlikely that Alejandro would be involved with her, given his position with Epifanio, but perhaps he's trying to work some kind of deal to keep Marietta from telling all? I dunno. It's hard to imagine why else why he would have been so emphatic about Veva's not discovering who was with him.

It will be interesting to see what Sofia's up to. Like you, I was mystified.

Reina Sur 2

Thank you so much, novelera. Good comment about “Lupo” and Teresa taking a long while to be suspicious of him as “Francesco .”

Juanita, I do wonder who Alejandro had hidden from Veva at his place. That would be something if it were Marietta.

I felt sorry for Carmen but it is time for her to take the $$ and call it a day.

The gypsy wake and wailing for Juan the rapist in Cayetana’s bullring was a sight. Sort of symbolic with them invading Cayetana’s house and also invading her family with Paloma’s pregnancy. I just hope Paloma and Rocío can keep the pregnancy quiet while in Spain. It would be a breath of novela fresh air if Paloma were to get an abortion ASAP somewhere along the way and not have the gypsy baby become a point of contention between Paloma and Juan the rapist’s family. I probably shouldn’t hold my breath on that one.

Francesco is up to his neck working behind the scenes against Teresa even with the gypsies. That was a surprise. He seems to have infiltrated Teresa’s enemy list at every turn and has actively participated in putting her and Sofía in jeopardy. I I hope Teresa's suspicions haven’t been calmed too much by a kiss experienced through too much tequila. So, Francesco is supposedly going back to Italy.

I was happy to see that Morgana was still leery of Sofía.

Could Cayetana be dead? That would clearly be an “eye for an eye” type of restitution besides the gypsies taking her physical wealth as some sort of blood money compensation.

Should be a good one tonight.

At long last we see Jorge Salinas again (even if we have to endure Marjorie de Souza)!

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep. 1, Pt I (written from memory)

Antonio wakes up from a nightmare which ended with him presenting some deeelicious-looking tropical drinks to his ungrateful family who present a cacaphony of demands that cause him to jump off the side of his yacht. He's barely opened his eyes when his almost-adult children come barging in with demands for money for their superficial wants. Shortly thereafter he gets the Feliz Compleanos robocall from work. When he gets to the office his secretary wishes him a happy birthday and gives him a gift. He is upset that his family has forgotten his birthday. When he gets home later Philemon -- the family dog -- comes up to him by the pool and drops a dog biscuit in front of him. Antonio petted the dog and thanked him and began thinking about his family.

He went inside in case his family was waiting to surprise him but the maid told him that nobody was home. In case they were hiding he looked in the other rooms and found nobody. Not long afterward they all came home with shopping bags and other requests for more dinero.

While all this is going on Julieta got a serenade from Elvis, her fiance (Raul Coronado, who should be playing JS's son someday). Her wedding was the next day. However, the next morning her younger sister received a video on her cell showing him in orgy mode with other women and Julieta decided to ditch him before getting to the altar. Their father drove them to the church and she gave Elvis what for in front of the other guests, finishing with throwing the bouquet at him.

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep. 1, Pt II (written from memory)

Antonio got fed up with his greedy family and told them that the bank of Antonio Solano is closed. They will all have to start working to earn their own money to pay for their fripperies. They all went into shock as he left the house, saying that he couldn't possibly mean any of this.

Julieta ran into a bicyclist delivery guy who was delivering a bunch of helium balloons that get away from him. She took off only to almost get run over by Antonio, who stopped to help her up. She was so upset as she tried to talk that he suggested they find a quiet place. She had no idea that Elvis was after her with a posse of his equally jerkwad best buds and there had been an argument between her father and his mother, the latter of whom tried to prevent the priest from canceling the wedding. Someone brought up the movie about a bride who ran off to be with another guy and that set Elvis off.

Julieta and Antonio get to his weekend place and have coffee. She told him what happened and he said that a bachelor party is no big deal. She told him that what she saw in the video exceeded the usual. Elvis and his posse caught up with them and there was the beginning of an altercation. However, Julieta took Antonio's hand and planted a serious kiss on him. The hussy.

Un Poquito Toyo comments

Good opening episode and a good start to the story. Elvis' mother seems like something of a helicopter parent and he seems to be her favorite child; interesting that Madonna (whom Antonio's son is falling for) is her daughter.

Good call on Julieta's part to not marry this jerk, but dragging Antonio into this the way she did is cowardly on her part. Not to mention opening herself up to the same misogynistic crap about women being fickle.

Antonio's family are a bunch of leeches, including the suegra who may be responsible for her daughter being the way she is. Catalina doesn't realize that her husband needs more than for her to stay beautiful. His kids are immature brats.

I hope Antonio has a best friend to vent to in future episodes.

Don't know what to make yet of Antonio's sister and BIL, whom I had failed to mention.

Reina 2

another wonderful recap novelera!

interesting dance that Oleg and Tesa do around there platonic love.

I see they were drinking Kate's own brand of tequila, "Honor".

Teresa is pretty sharp but did she discover anything new, other than he was an orphan to go with her mother being an alcoholic and never knowing her dad.

how long can the town's gypsies inhabit an old ladies mansion before anyone finds out, if Cayetana dies will the girls then get the millions Teo stole from Teresa?

yep, Sofia's on a mission, we'll have to wait to see what, at least the cat got away, I think Batman said even if she escapes, they have a deal with the police who will bring her back.

Paloma surprised me how crafty she was getting the pregnancy test.

hmm, so when Epi comes to see Carmen, Jimena is out and Alex is entertaining, he was with a girl earlier that he also wouldn't reveal to Epi.

Reina del sur 2
I’d like to do some recaps but I can only do certain Fri nights. I’ve been lurking here since the season started and want to help out!
Let me know if this Friday helps!

Un poquito tuyo

Thanks, Urban. “equally jerkwad best buds” was wonderfully descriptive. You always do have a way with words. 😊

It was great seeing Jorge Salinas again. Time has been kind to him but they should have left him some grey hair.

I felt sorry for Antonio coming home and there being the big NADA for his bday. I loved how he told his family it was not “las mañanitas but las tardecitas”. Clearly about time the good for nothings start paying their way.

Julieta has a lot to learn about love. She could have started by avoiding a guy named “Elvis”. It was great seeing her turning Elvis down in ffront of them all and taking off on foot, bike and then in Antonio’s SUV.

With Julieta stuck on the fence scene and the kiss at the end of the episode, it looks like there will be some physical comedy in this one too which is always a good sign.

I hope I have enough time to keep up with this novela (because it looks cute enough) but that remains to be seen. 👁

poquito

Thanks, Urban, for putting up a recap of the first episode. I am tempted, but I don't think I have time to watch this one. La Reina del Sur is my priority, and I'm trying vainly to catch up on Sin tu Mirada. I started Mirada, liked it, and began to fall behind on it with Reina and Warriors basketball keeping me glued to the sofa. I have a couple weeks of Mirada on the DVR and still hope to catch up.

Again, it's nice to have someone who usually posts on Univisión visit us here at Telemundo Central.

reina-sur2

Blockhead, I'd be thrilled if you recapped this Friday. I often do a Friday recap, but I'd love to have someone else do one. We could really use some help with recaps for this terrific sequel. I know lots of people are watching.

Reina del sur 2
I’m in!

Un Poquito Tuyo comments

I waited for so long for a new novela with Jorge Salinas I had to come here to comment on it. We'll see how long I can last when Marjorie de Sousa is his co-star. I can't stand the little-girl voice she has and we have yet to see if she ends up with a wardrobe consisting primarily of Slutwear.

BTW, please collect screen grabs of Slutwear from other series for a future article on that subject. We are long overdue!

reina-sur2, poquito

Thanks VERY much, blockhead, for offering to do this Friday's recap and perhaps some other Fridays when you can. Lots of folks are watching, but not many of us are recapping. Your help is most welcome and needed.

And thanks, too, to Urban for the great recap to start off Un poquito tuyo. I was delighted when I saw that it would star Jorge Salinas, but then I realized that it would be running alongside La reina del sur2. To my surprise, that novela is proving to be a worthy sequel to Reina1, and so I'm afraid I'll have to give Poquito a pass. I dunno. On Telemundo, it seems it's either drought or flood. Sigh.

I hope this doesn't qualify as gossip, and maybe it's been discussed elsewhere. But I'm wondering if Jorge Salinas appearing in a Telemundo novela is part of that mass layoff or whatever they call it of older actors at Televisa.

reina-sur2, poquito

I will do a recap of tonight's episode of Reina2. As always, it will be posted quite late.

novelera, I was wondering the same thing about Jorge Salinas' appearance in a Telemundo novela. However, I just did a very quick search and found articles saying that he had ended his contract with Televisa or let it run out (the articles were en español and my brain was in english).

Un Poquito Tuyo comment

I suspect that JS got fed up with having been done out of the happy ending originally intended for his character in PyP. When that happened in La Esposa Virgen it came as a shock to the entire cast (according to the interview with Sergio Sendel) and he was not pleased. The casting department at Televisa should have recognized the risk of casting Fernando Colunga as Eladio. Had they cast Sendel instead, the series would have headed in its original direction.

And where has Sendel been lately?

Reina

I would have put money on Alejandro being gay. Didn't even consider the other reporter, who is not long for this world if she's sleeping with this guy.

Cayetana needs a cell phone. Not that he cop friend would be much help, but the gypsies (hello, steroetyping!) taking over her house is a bit much. Given her personality, wouldn't she take any opportunity to kill them all without a second thought? They may be messing with the wrong strega.

Renia,

Forgot to thank everyone for the great recaps! I'm going out of town the rest of the week, which I can only do because of these recaps. Without them, I'd have to cancel all vacations.

La Reina del Sur2 - Martes - Parte 1 de 2

General Chaib has the DNA results for Teresa.

Meanwhile, Sofia is remembering tales that her mother told her about witches, wizards, and other such entities.

Paloma tells Rocio that she's pregnant with Juan's baby. She claims she loved Juan. Teresa arrives, and Paloma tells her she's pregnant and that Rocio wants to kill it. Rocio says that Paloma shouldn't be a mother at such a young age, and a fugitive to boot. She should have children once she has found someone who loves her. Teresa tells the girls that when she was young and a virgin, she was gang raped. Years later, she was raped by the guy who killed her novio, Güero. "If I had become pregnant by him, I wouldn't have hesitated to have an abortion. No question." Fast forward years to Teo. She again became pregnant, and again thought about having an abortion, but she didn't, and she's very glad. She was in a different stage of her life, and she wanted to be a mother. "Sofia is the best thing that ever happened to me." She tells Paloma that she shouldn't let anyone else tell her what to do with her body. It's her decision, and no matter what she decides, Teresa will support her

Epifanio arrives very late to the TV station where Veva is about to have him on her show. He tells her that he isn't going to appear on the program. Veva asks what he's hiding. He tells her that if he were to go on the program, "people will have in their minds all the lies Marietta told, and they'll think what we're doing is just for show. Our love deserves respect." Veva suspects Alejandro told him to say this, and that their relationship will always come second. This time, it's Marietta, next time, the campaign, then who knows what. She's furious and fed up.

Chaib gives Teresa the DNA results: a 99.9% match between Rocio and Sofia. Teresa smiles and says, " I can't wait to see Cayetana's face when this sudaca tells her that Sofia is her granddaughter." Chaib has driven her to the Aljarafe bull ring. Teresa leaves him and, unseen, comes upon the group of gypsies yelling "Justice for Juanito." She makes her way to the house, finds it locked.

Lupo calls Morgana. He asks how Sofia is and tells Morgana he'll be there in about 15 minutes. Morgana goes to wake Sofia and finds that what she thought was a sleeping child is just some carefully placed pillows. She then goes downstairs, where she's confronted with a very scary fluorescent display of various beasts and a small devil who jumps out at her and screams, "I denounce your lies and curse your name." Morgana freaks out, runs up the stairs and out of the house, into the path of an oncoming bus. Oops. Bye bye, Morgana. Sofia sees what has happened and is upset. "I didn't kill her! I didn't kill her!" she tells herself. She's so upset that she doesn't hear Viewerville cheering.

Finding Cayetana's doors locked, Teresa climbs a wall and finds another way in. Cayetana is in bed and not feeling well. Teresa bursts in. Cayetana first thinks she's hallucinating but Teresa assures her she's there and has news. She shows her the DNA test. Cayetana claims it's a fraud. Teresa persists. Because of Cayetana, Sofia was kidnapped. Let's make a deal. Teresa will get rid of the gypsies, and Cayetana will leave Teresa and Sofia in peace.

Lupo drives to the house where Sofia was being held. He comes upon the crowd surrounding the body of Morgana. He runs into the house, calling Sofia's name.
Finding Sofia gone, he yells for Batman, who is tired and has a hangover (crudo). He tells Batman that Morgana is dead and Sofia has disappeared. Lupo is going to try to find her. Batman wants to come with him, but Lupo tells him to stay there. "Pray I find her, or I'll kill you."

La Reina del Sur2 - Martes - Parte 2 de 2

Teresa calls Chaib and asks how long it would take the commandos who saved her from the Galicians to get to Cayetana's. He tells her they're just minutes away.away. She informs him that a group of people have kidnapped her daughter's grandmother.

Sofia is running but doesn't know where to go. She stops a man and asks him to use his cell phone to call her mother. He agrees until he finds out that it's an international call to Italy. He then decides that she's a thief (ladrona) who just wants to steal his phone. She hears sirens and runs off.

Teresa, Chaib, and a bunch of commandos confront the gypsies at the bull ring. She tells them that that they're outnumbered and she urges them to leave in order to avoid una matanza (a bloodbath, massacre). Juanito's mother is having none of this. Teresa addresses the crowd and says she knows they're good, peaceful people, "but you, señora, brought a rapist into the world." The furious mother demands justice. Teresa asks Chaib how much firepower the commandos have. He tells her, and she quickly calculates that it would take only 1.66 seconds to kill the entire crowd. Chaib then turns to Drago, and says, "You seem like a reasonable person. It's best that you leave immediately, for your own good." Juanito's mother continues to scream, and Drago orders his men to get her out of here. [Yup. Leave it to the reasonable men. Sigh.]

Back in Mexico City, the police question Batman, handcuff him, and take him in for questioning. He wants to call his boss, but apparently they don't let him.

Epifanio goes to see Padre Anselmo, since Carmen listens to him. But the priest tells Epifanio Carmen is obeying the commandments and that marriage is for life. Moreover, if Epifanio becomes president, he should set a good example as a devout family man.

Sofia on the run sees police cars. She remembers hearing a discussion where Lupo said that the police were on their side, and if Sofia ran away, the police would quickly return her to them. She then spots Lupo in a car, and she keeps moving. However, Lupo catches sight of her in his rear view mirror and jumps out of the car in pursuit. Sofia loses her shoes but keeps running, barefoot.

Back at Cayetana's, Teresa tells Cayetana that she's kept her end of the deal, getting rid of the gypsies. Now Cayetana needs to keep her end: leave Teresa and Sofia in peace. Cayetana asks what Teresa is going to do with Paloma and Rocio. Teresa replies that she's going to get them out of the country, since the police are after them in Spain and they have no one to help them. Teresa also advises Cayetana to swallow her pride and at least say goodbye to them. Paloma has something important to tell her. Before she leaves, Teresa asks Cayetana whether she knows Francesco Belmondo. Cayetana says no. [Liar, liar, pants on fire.]

The episode ends with several minutes of Lupo chasing Sofia, up and down stairs, over rooftops, and in a subway station. Sofia dashes into a subway car, and the door closes just as Lupo arrives. They stare at each other through the window as the train pulls out of the station. After the train has moved, we see Sofia with a look on her face that seems a mixture of relief and distress.

Juanita, thanks. “Liar liar, pants on fire” is so true. There is no hope for Cayetana. She and Juan’s mother are more a like than different.

Yes, Sofía was remembering witchy tales her mother told her. A little trivia: Teresa was reading to her from “La Celestina” (A gem from Spanish literature by Fernando Rojas, 1499). The main character La Celestina is a witch (among other things/also most famous witch of Spanish lit). Teresa reads the “most important part” which is La Celestina’s conjuring spell: “Yo, Celestina, tu más conocida clientela, te conjuro por la virtud y fuerza de estas bermejas letras.” which Sofía delightfully repeated. It was a nice touch leading to Sofía’s disguise and escape.

The chase scene with Lupo going after Sofía over the rooftops was reminiscent of Season 1 Episode 1 where Teresa was being chased by El Pote over the rooftops even down to the one big jump they both had to risk taking.

I cannot imagine the utter panic Sofía finds herself in alone on the streets.

Teresa gave La Paloma (and the audience) good advice about her own control over her life and body. I declare it a PSA!

Could Batman’s arrest be his death sentence?

Yes the previous post was for LA REINA 2

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep 2 Part I

Elvis freaked when Antonio kissed Julieta, however chastely. She yelled at Elvis that she couldn't marry him when her heart belonged to another. Elvis tried to rush them but his bros restrained him.

Julieta's sister – Elena – told their father (Francisco) that something serious happened while Elvis' mother called Fonsi and told him to bring Elvis home toute suite. She then confronted Francisco.

Lety (Antonio's sister) and her husband Mateo got into it with Catalina, which got none of them anywhere. Javier said they wouldn't get anywhere fighting about this and Eduardo said they should just have dinner and wait for Dad to get home.

Antonio and Julieta fought about what she did; he was justifiably annoyed. Elvis began shooting a gun into the air and Antonio took out his cell and called the police.

Gregoria (Elvis' Momzilla) and Francisco continued their very public argument re Julieta's morals. She demanded that the priest excommunicate her for adultery. The priest looked at her like she was crazy while Francisco clutched his chest. Elena became concerned.

Elvis continued to shoot while Julieta continued to panic She and Antonio fell on the floor. The police arrived; Elvis and his bros hightailed it out of there.

Antonio's family continued to argue. Catalina wanted to call the police. A delivery guy came with theh food but none of the Solano credit cards worked. Mateo paid with his, which went through.

Julieta did not want to press charges when the police arrived. She said that the guys were drunk. The police still wanted her to make a statement, then they left. Antonio was angry with Julieta and she went on about Elvis not hurting a mosquito. He calmed down and said he admired her ability to forgive. She started crying and then leaned into him.

Francisco said he didn't need a doctor and Gregoria threatened to sic a lawyer on Julieta if anything happened to her little boy. Who was on his way back with Fonsi and Beto.

Antonio and Julieta calmed down and she apologized for ruining his birthday. He told her it had already been ruined because his family forgot it and because they treat him like an ATM. He was goin to deal with that. She told him that at least he had it in him to start over. He tried to ignore his ringing cell but finally answered. Catalina said they were worried about him. He told her he was alright and that they needed to talk. He then ended the call. The land line rang; Julieta answered and it was Elena. She must have told Julieta about their father because she said she would be right there.

Antonio's family talked about what they would do when he got home; Catalina said she would handle this herself. Lety announced that they were leaving and taking the food they paid for with them. Mateo rounded up their two kids (who are much younger than Antonio's) and they left.

Antonio drove Julieta home and they talked about whether destiny brought them together so that they could make better choices and the right changes. She was sure his kids would turn around [but are we?]. He got out of the car to open the door on her side without knowing that Elvis and his buds were watching from across the street. They could not hear the perfectly innocent conversation which ended with Julieta kissing Antonio before going inside. They got out of the car and went after Antonio, who didn't hesitate to tell Elvis off.

Julieta went inside and told Francisco about the video. He was not impressed.

Elvis threatened Antonio again as his bros grabbed him.

Madonna called Elena, looking for Elvis. Elena told her that Julieta had just come home. Momzilla Gregoria got angry with Madonna for contacting the enemy.

Julieta told her father everything and he apologized, saying he would respect her decision. Dogs were barking outside and Julieta went out to investigate. She found Antonio there, stripped to his underwear by Elvis and his jerkwad bros. He asked if she could get him some clothes. [Fortunately, the jerks didn't also steal his car.]

Antonio's kids tried baking a cake, but were clearly out of their element.

Julieta got Antonio some clothes and made some coffee. Elena thanked him for helping her sister and they brought out a cake with a candle and sang Las Mañanitas. They told him to make a wish.

Elvis got home. Gregoria tossed Beto out and allowed Fonsi to stay (he's her nephew). She tried to tell Elvis that he could have any girl in the nabe but he said he only wanted Julieta. She needed a drink and he had one anyway.

Antonio saw that Julieta and Elena had come from a happy family that knew how to work out their issues. He could feel the happiness in the house and said that this was true success. He thanked them all and left.

Javier texted Madonna and asked about the wedding. She told him it didn't happen. They arranged to meet the next day.

Julieta looked at the orgy video on Elena's phone. Elena took it back, concerned for her. Julieta said she was alright and that she got even with Elvis. She told her about kissing Antonio in front of him and what that felt like as in ay, Dios Mio. Elena hugged her.

Antonio arrived home to the too-little-too-late birthday party. They asked where he had been and he answered “The real world.” Catalina asked about the clothes and he answered that they all should consider dressing more mode$tly. They thought he was joking. He said he wasn't. The credit cards will remain cancelled. He had made mistakes as a husband and a father. That was now over and they would all talk in the morning.

That night he dreamt of the nagging for money. That imagery was blurred. Beyond it Julieta was clear and luring him out of it. He work up to the nagging Catalina.

Gregoria gave Julieta some grief when they passed each other on the street that morning.

After they got dressed Catalina proposed that she have a clothing boutique because she had such good taste. Antonio was to buy it for her in a fashionable neighborhood and pay its bills until it made some dinero. He countered with a location near bodegas and that she start stocking it with all the duplicates from her closet. She freaked and tried to rationalize that she dressed as she did for the sake of his image. He finally suggested that he would resign his position at the bank, which really caused her to panic.

Elvis confronted Julieta and she told him off. She showed him the video and he shut his trap.

Over breakfast Antonio told his entire family that they were all going to work. Javier said he was a minor and Viviana thought that this was a punishment for forgetting her father's birthday. Antonio told them all that they were not worth for what they have but who they are....

Elvis claimed he didn't remember what happened and Julieta didn't buy it. He whined like a child.

After the others left Catalina and Lupita (her mother) talked about this. Lupita thought Antonio had another woman; Catalina did not agree.

Elvis and Francisco had a confrontation; Francisco backed his daughter. Elena tambien. Elvis told Gregoria, who said that Julieta was the loser.

Fonsi struck out with a local girl.

Javier went to the student protest Madonna was leading and cheered her on. It was awkward for her.

Antonio returned Francisco's clothes, but Elvis and his bros were watching again [Don't these idiots have jobs? I guess not] This time they stopped him again.

Javier and Madonna talked about her cause. She saw their class difference and then another guy appeared whom she clearly liked.

Antonio went home but Elvis followed him. He accused Antonio of being Julieta's lover... right in front of Catalina.

UN POQUITO:

Watched the first epi and found it quite charming. It reminds me in overall tone of AMORCITO CORAZON, which was also quite a romp.

It never ceases to amaze me how well these TN actors transition from drama to comedy.

reina-sur2

Thank you, Juanita.
"She's so upset that she doesn't hear Viewerville cheering." Hear, hear! What a creative escape! Strega didn't know what hit her. Florescent paint, scary painting, hissing cat jumping on her, chanting monster screaming at her. Real horror house.

Thank you, Jarifa, for the trivia.

We have several wins in this episode. Sofía escapes. Paloma and Rocío bond more with Teresa. Teresa liberates Cayetana. Will Cayetana soften somewhat towards Teresa?

Sadly, for plot reasons, it is not yet time for Sofía to be free, so I expect some loses in the next episodes.

Reina 2

wow, what a show, thanks so much for the recap Juanita!

loved Sofia's painting, she didn't wipe away the old but painted a white skull over it with florescent serpents coming out of it's eyes.

and her own makeup with the white foam coming out of her mouth, yikes.

and then the cat, also with fluorescent paint, jumping in, ha!

interesting that Chaib has his commandos always minutes away.

ah Batman with a hangover, could it be any worse.

I was thinking that maybe Cayetana doesn't know Francesco by that name, looks like it may be Rocio down the road that outs him, didn't he tell Teresa he was going to Italy.

reina-sur2

Wonderful recap, Juanita! I especially liked "she didn't even hear Viewerville cheering". Sad at seeing Morgana hit by a large bus? Nah!

Jarifa, I also thought that Sofía running across some rooftops was a callback to Episode 1 of Reina Uno.

Lucio, I also suspect Sofía will inevitably be recaptured. There's no other way to bring forward the plot of Teresa infiltrating Zurdo Villa's cartel. I'm kind of surprised they've spent so much time in Europe. It also occurred to me that it's not safe for Sofía running the streets of a big city. She has no money and could become a victim.

I also enjoyed the demonstration of Teresa's wonderful facility with numbers. She quickly calculated how fast the gypsies would die. Earlier on she memorized two phone numbers immediately. [Was that Lupo or Willy?]

I was very glad that Teresa outed Juanito for the scum he was. It didn't change his mother's mind, but I suspect the rest of the group may have been less intent on "Justice for Juanito" upon hearing what he'd done.

Batman is not exactly the sharpest narco in the drawer, is he?

I hope Sofía's anguish over Morgana's death doesn't haunt her for long. She never intended anything but escape. And anyone who torments a child the way she did doesn't deserve much remorse.

Un Poquito Tuyo

what a treat Urban Anthropologist, for the wonderful recaps, they really help to get oriented with names and all.

I'm curious where you are watching this as the Telemundo version appears to be much shorter, the end of your Ep2 part1 was about where the first episode ended, hmm.

Un poquito tuyo

Thanks, Urban. An Elvis AND a Fonsi? Too funny.

BlueLass, it IS amazing how talented and versatile these actors are. “Romp” is totally applicable here.

I just saw the 2nd episode and so far so good.

Un Poquito Tuyo comment

Jorge Salinas has always been able to do comedy; it was Fernando Colunga who couldn't, at least not in a series.

BTW, Gregoria's other son's name is Elton. Good grief.

Jarifa, I think I'll try to stick with it. I need the laughs.

UA, believe it or not, I've ONLY seen Colunga do comedy -- PORQUE EL AMOR MANDA. It was the first or second comedy I recapped (before that I always thought they talked to fast.)

Colunga was particularly good with novelas de epoca, which nobody is doing many of anymore.

reina-sur2

Great comments, Jarifa! Yes, as unlikely as it may seem, Cayetana and Juanito's mother do share a number of traits in common, stubbornness (pigheadedness?) being perhaps #1.

And MANY thanks for the information about "La Celestina"! It's clear that Teresa's reading to her from that work made a big impression on Sofia and helped her devise her most recent way of dealing with Morgana.

I too was reminded of the amazing chase scene in the opening episode of Reina1.

I normally wince at Telemundo's well-meaning PSAs, but last night's was fine. I was also pleased that Teresa said that if she had become pregnant from the second rape, she would definitely have had an abortion. That's somewhat further than most telenovelas have gone in presenting abortion as an acceptable decision.

reina-sur2

Thanks very much, Lucio, deb, and novelera, for your excellent comments. I'm sorry I'm so late in responding.

Lucio, I think you're right about the plot timing being wrong for Sofia to have gotten away for good. Alas.

deb, interesting point about Cayetana's possibly knowing Francesco under a different name. As you say, if that's the case (or even if it isn't), Rocio may be the one to out him.

novelera, good point about Sofia having to remain apart from Teresa for the plot re Zurdo Villa to continue. And I too was glad that Teresa said publicly what she did about Juanito's despicable treatment of Paloma. I think you're right about that having lessened some of the crowd's support for Juanito's mother's revenge.

poquito

Many thanks, Urban, for another excellent recap of Un Poquito Tuyo. I'm still wrestling with whether I have time to watch this one as well as Reina2.

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep 3 Part I

Elvis tried to mess things up further for Antonio by accusing him of being Lorena's lover and mentioning the kiss that was actually very innocent. Catalina took the bait and told him he will pay. Antonio told the jerks to get lost or he will call the police. He took out his cell phone. Elvis went on “You stole my gatita” and Antonio told him “I stole nothing. She ditched you because of your threesome at your bachelor party.” Elvis got back into threatening mode again so his bros had to make him leave with them.

Madonna introduced her two suitors – the other guy is Tomás – and Javier got his hand crushed a bit. Madonna was annoyed at Tomás' jealousy. She tried telling him that Javier was just a friend. Javier made an exit and she left with Tomás.

Francisco had to deal with Gregoria at her place of business (a jewelry store) to pick up his watch. She became insulting again when he told her that it was Elvis whose offense was against Julieta. This woman clearly believes what she wants to believe. He picked up his watch and left.

Elena teased Julieta about Antonio. [We find out she was the girl Fonsi tried to pick up; I need new glasses.]

Catalina refused to believe anything Antonio said about the incident.

Lety and her boys were at the breakfast table with Mateo serving them. She talked about her brother putting his wife in her place. He asked her why she doesn't go back to work and she said she didn't want to have a nanny raise their children [who look like miniature nerds]. She then told Mateo to sit down and eat with them. When he went to put the apron back in the kitchen she told the boys she would take them to their piano lesson.

Beto [name incorrectly assigned yesterday] came to see Viviana, who whined about being punished by being made to work. He told her that this was not a punishment but a milestone in life. She was hoping to become a fashion model and her father expected her to work! He tried to explain how he waited tables and helped his mother in the house to contribute to the family and she pulled the Social Class card on him, followed by walking out on the conversation. [Beto, you deserve better.]

Javier called Madonna. During the conversation he told her he was looking for a job. She was in her mother's store and asked her if she still needed help. She said yes and Madonna told him to come over.

Catalina whined to Lupita about all this, sounding like a child. Lupita tried to get her to calm down and not be hot-headed because that made for bad decisions. Catalina was sure that the money issue was so that Antonio would have money to spend on la mugrosa.

Javier arrived at the shop and Madonna sort-of introduced him to her mother. She put him to work cleaning the glass display cases. Elton teased his sister about having the hots for him.

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep 3 Part II

Eduardo and Beto were talking at Beto's job and they met a gringo named Johnny Green who was looking to rent a room. He's a photographer. Some exchanges in ingles.

Catalina and Lupita followed Antonio, who went to see Julieta in the hope that she could explain the situation to Catalina, who lost her mind at seeing such a mosca muerta. She was annoyed that they could not hear what was being said, but said that this floozy would be sorry.

Gregoria wasn't entirely satisfied with Javier's work and Madonna said to give him a chance. She finally agreed to because he was her friend and told Javier she would pay him diez y ciento pesos per week [Is she serious?]. He hugged her, which annoyed her a little and flirted with Madonna before he left.

Elvis went into the shop where Elena worked and demanded the video. She told him off. His cell rang and it was Julieta who wanted to see him.

Viviana went to Beto's job and apologized to him, saying she was just annoyed with her father and took it out on him. He pointed to her brother and she went to his table. He introduced her to Johnny and she flirted with him.

Elvis and Julieta argued about the situation. She reminded him that they had been together ten years and he had been her first boyfriend so how could he accuse her of anything like this? She insisted that they go to see Antonio's wife to explain all this. [She has no idea how impossible this will be.]

Fonsi went to see Elena about the video because he wanted to help Elvis. Elena did not comply with whatever he asked. Francisco arrived and told him to split.

Eduardo and Vivi brought Johnny home and introduced him to their dad. Eduardo said he would rent out his room to Johnny, who was planning to stay in Mexico for a while. Antonio didn't have time to react to this because Catalina and her attitude came home. Johnny was all compliments which seemed to impress Lupita but not Catalina. Antonio said they had to talk about Eduardo's deal, and Vivi suggested they go upstairs. She left with Johnny before Javier came home to announce his job. Catalina was not happy about this and blamed Antonio for everything. The boys asked Lupita what was up but she said nothing.

Catalina began chewing Antonio out over everything, accusing him of having bought the house she followed him to, compounding this with insults involving Julieta and Johnny. Further, the car ran out of gas and she couldn't buy any because he had canceled her credit cards and she and her mother had to walk or surrender her watch to pay for gas. He told her she could have called him but she considered that too humiliating. She ordered him out of their bedroom.

Madonna, Tomás, and Elton were watching TV when Elton told Tomás about Javier working in the shop. Tomás reacted like the insecure jealous fool that he is and Madonna rolled her eyes.

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep 3 Part III

Beto came over and talked to Vivi. She had friend-zoned him when he clearly wanted something else. She had him put sunblock on her back. He tried to tell her how he felt about her but Jonny appeared in his swimwear. Beto said he had to study and left. Vivi continued to flirt with Johnny. She explained she wanted to be a blogger/vlogger/influencer. None of the 2,000 photos on her Instagram were professional. He told her he wasn't really that kind of photographer; his thing was documentaries. Antonio came out and saw them talking. He took Vivi aside to talk to her about working, which she tried to wiggle out of again. He told her that he hoped she would realize that this was for her own good. After he went back into the house the twit did a vid in which she announced renting out rooms in the mansion. She then went back to the pool.

Lupita told Catalina that she had made a tactical error; that Antonio was not the enemy in this war.

Elvis showed that he will believe what he wants to when he ranted to his buds. He needed 50,000 pesos ($2,630 US) to fix the situation. His bros were flummoxed.

Antonio started to lecture Eduardo on his actions, saying he needed to give permission to rent out the room. He asked what Eduardo charged and Eduardo took out $1200 US dollars from his wallet. Antonio seemed impressed as he took the money and gave Eduardo back $50 for his personal expenses, saying the rest was for household expenses. He left the boys alone and in shock.

Madonna told Javier on the phone that she had a disagreement with Tomás. They talked about the next day's demonstration.

The next morning Erick brought Antonio's breakfast to his study, where Antonio had slept on the couch that night. He mentioned the gardener and Antonio said he was going to cancel his services. Erick said “It's the economy, isn't it?” then left. Lupita came in and told Antonio she was going to go into showbiz and sing various types of songs. He listened, then said “No reggaeton, but I love bolero.” She grinned.

Antonio went into his kids' rooms to wake them up. Javier had to clean the windows while Eduardo did the floors. Vivi had to straighten things out.

Catalina had gone out and woke up Lety to enlist her on her side of this war.

Javier met Madonna in the park where she was making signs. She told him they had to watch out for the police. She got all of their attention and said that this was a peaceful demonstration. Then she noticed that one of them had a molotov cocktail.

Catalina and Lety went to Julieta's shop and Catalina confronted her, complete with insults.

Reina del Sur 2 Wednesday Part 1

Since I had some time this a.m. . . .

Oleg meets with an international group of associates who have collected information on El Zurdo Villa for him.

At the same time, Siso El Gallego gets a call from El Zurdo confirming a delivery time and place. Siso is outside of Spain right now. He tells El Zurdo he will have his money tomorrow. El Zurdo toasts to a photo of Teresa.

Sofía is still running scared all over Mexico City. She is momentarily spooked, when she imagines seeing Magda.

Cayetana is having a moment realizing she has three granddaughters when her maid Charo tells her the doctor has arrived. Charo will give her something else to put on before she consults with him.

Teresa talks to Paloma and Rocío. Paloma feels responsible for everything. Teresa tells her not to because that is just how life is. She encourages the girls to see Cayetana because she is not well and it could be the last time they see her once they leave Spain.

Alejandro is busy controlling the Marietta Lancaster situation when his father calls him. He goes to see him.

It is morning at Carmens’s, and her granddaughter Jimena has come home for a change of clothes. She is clearly out of control supposedly having been out all night “studying” with a “girlfriend.” She tells Carmen and her mother she will do what she wants.Carmen tells her daughter she is not going to give Epifanio a divorce. Her daughter doesn’t understand. Their marriage has been over for like ten years. Her father doesn’t love her. Carmen makes it clear it has nothing to do with love it is about getting her due; what is owed her for putting up with him. She knows he will give in. Jimena tells her he probably has another woman on the side that he wants for his First Lady.

Epifanio goes to see the family priest. No, he is not there to confess. He just wants his blessing and for him not to go filling his “ex-wife’s” head with garbage about becoming First Lady. Epifanio gets a phone call from Francesco informing him that Sofía has escaped. He assures Epifanio that Teresa knows nothing about it yet. Epifanio calls a meeting with him and Alejandro at three.

Antonio (Ed Yáñez) the governor of Sinaloa meets with his daughter Veva over breakfast. He is not happy with her being Epifanio’s girlfriend. She was the first to interview Epifanio behind bars and believes in Epifanio’s innocence and Teresa’s guilt in putting him there. Antonio is also upset about the effects on his political career. He also blames Veva for making Alejandro Epifanio’s “boot licker.” Alejandro shows up, over heats the last comment and insists he is not an imbecile.

Teresa still is trying to talk the granddaughters to go see Cayetana. No, Teresa didn’t tell her that Paloma was pregnant. No, Teresa doesn’t think that Cayetana would dare call the police on them if they go to visit her.

Antonio explains how disappointed he is that his son who is so intelligent and qualified has turned into such a lackey for Epifanio. Alejandro argues that Epifanio will be the next president of Mexico. Antonio counters that Alejandro is the one who should be the next president of Mexico. Alejandro says they are not the same. Antonio agrees because he was never the flunkey for someone corrupt.

Reina del Sur Wednesday Part 2

Epifanio arrives at his office and is upset Alejandro is not there. He calls Alejandro and interrupts the conversation with Antonio. Antonio is not happy. Epifanio wants to see Alejandro in 15 min. Epifanio, Lupo and Alejandro meet. Epifanio says nothing is worth anything if they don’t have Sofía. How could she escape? Lupo reminds him he always said that Morgana was not the right person for the job and how she was mistreating Sofía. Lupo explains how Sofía must have scared Morgana who ran out into the street and got run over. Alejandro suggests they think about where Sofía might have gone. Epifanio tells Lupo to call Teresa to see if she has heard from Sofía. Teresa doesn’t answer. Alejandro says no news is good news and they need to think about where Sofía might have gotten off the subway. He guesses it was at the next stop. He wants men to circle the general area. He believes she is somewhere there.

Sofía is in Alameda Park with some folkloric dancers and fits right in. She is then back on the run. She washes up in a fountain.

Oleg has the Zurdo Villa information for Teresa that he got from people who owed him: drug traffickers who deal with Mexicans. It seems that Zurdo Villa is more powerful and dangerous than they thought making Teresa’s mission even harder. Teresa declares it is time to get to Mexico ASAP. Oleg has info for her on where she can find her Melilla friends and Conejo’s address.

At Conejo’s place, her young lover is leaving her for good. He doesn’t want to live with two policeman outside of his door among other things.

Teresa easily recruits two of her old associates Sheila and ????, now working as waiters at a beach bar, to join her on her mission. They quit on the spot. There is talk about a Soraya and Lalo who ended up in Australia. It seems Lalo was getting a tongue transplant and Sheila jokes about a boyfriend kissing you with somebody else’s tongue. Teresa says they will be leaving for Mexico soon but first Teresa has to take care of a friend who is in a tough spot because of Teresa’s enemies. She has a plan to rescue her. Will they help her? Yes!

Charo talks to Cayetana about prescriptions and hospital tests to rule out heart problems. Rocío and Paloma arrive. Cayetana accuses them of coming to kill her after getting together with Teresa. They tell that they wanted to see how she was doing. Well, she doesn’t want to see them. It is a little too late. She blames Paloma for the whole mess by running away with Juan. As Charo leads the girls out, Insoector Flores shows up. What to do? Cayetana suggests that they hide because that is what fugitives from the law do. Charo hides the girls.

Cayetana greets inspector Flores and guesses sarcastically that he is there to tell her that Teresa has escaped again. He assures her that Teresa is still in Spain. He wants to know if she has seen her granddaughters who are fugitives and in the company of Teresa. He wants to search her house.Cayetana assures him that they know this is no longer their home. She also cannot believe that the woman he has been looking for for ten years has joined up with her granddaughters. She tells him to take a vacation. It would do him good. She tells Charo to accompany him to the door.

A pizza delivery man arrives at Conejo’s. The police check it to make sure it is legit. Siso and the Gallegos are watching. Hmmm . . . Conejo didn’t order a pizza but the fact that it has Mexican peppers on it piques her interest. She lies about the order and accepts it.

Cayetana makes it clear that she never wants to see her granddaughters again especially after finding out they are now friends with their father’s murderer. This is the last time she has helped them. As far as she is concerned, from now on she is dead to them.

Conejo opens the pizza box and discovers a note from Teresa telling her that she has a plan to help her escape. Teresa has included instructions.

Reina del Sur Wednesday Part 3

Cayetana lovingly looks at Teo’s photo and tells him he has a daughter.

Sofía continues wandering.

Cayetana tells him Teresa robbed him of the chance to see her grow up. Her name is Sofía Aljarafe.

Sofía stops and watches a boy juggling in the street.

Cayetana doesn’t want to die and leave Sofía alone to be raised by a murderer. As she puts on some lipstick, she tells Teresa to get ready because this has just begun.

Sofía smiles as she continues to watch the juggler.

FIN

O/T I forgot all about the character limit 😫 in these postings but soon rediscovered it this morning laboring on my tablet. As a matter of fact, I realized the only thing I had recapped here on the Telemundo side of the blog was the ever delightful but doomed “La fan”. It started in prime time; was moved to earlier in the evening; next was a move to afternoons and at around 50 episodes or so it was cancelled even as they were running commercials for its second season. Go figure!

Reina-Sur2, Poquito

Just dropped in for a bit. Y’all are doing fantastically well! Comments and recaps are noteworthy; and I see we have a recapper in the making YAAAY!!! (Dancing a jig :-) Welcome, Blockhead!!

Reina 2

loved your recap Jarifa, you have a nice style!

Cayetana is always on the verge of showing some emotion for her grandaughters, but never does, hmm, what is she planning, getting Sofia?

and we see her closet is empty, the gypsies took all, and Flores doesn't have a clue about any of that. (I always thought the best gypsy solution would have been to call Flores and have him round them up)

funny, she sees his bruised face, "let me guess, she got away again".

interesting that the priest listened to Epi's phone call.

I didn't recognize big Ed.

I keep hoping that when Batman gets his phone back he tips Teresa even though I don't think she can get there in time.

reina-sur2

Thanks SO much, Jarifa. Loved your recap. Sadly, I have to get ready to go to work, so I can't say much.

I have a suspicion, not a spoiler for sure. I thought Siso was hanging out at Conejo's place to again try to kill Teresa. But, given his talk with Zurdo over the phone about delivering the "pasta" I wonder if Zurdo now knows that Teresa is alive. And that the plan is to capture her and bring her to Zurdo. After Zurdo hangs up, he, as you said, toasts Teresa's photo on his desk.

reina-sur2

Wow! Thanks VERY much, Jarifa, for this wonderful recap! I think you captured everything important. Yeah, the wordcount aspect of the Telemundo y Más pages is often a PITA. It has caught me up any number of times. I now write my recaps first in my UltraEdit text editor, which has a wordcount feature. Alas, the feature sometimes differs markedly from that of Caray's wordcount nazi. :-)

I had forgotten about Villa's fascination with Teresa. His toasting her photo reminded me. Yecch!

Carmen's granddaughter, Jimena, is no dummy. She catches on to what Epifanio is up to (he already has a first lady in the wings). Is it possible that Jimena is the student who questioned Veva about Epifanio after class some episodes ago?

I was startled when Epifanio threatened Padre Anselmo that if he didn't stop encouraging Carmen's wish to be First Lady, etc., he (Padre A) "would suffer the same fate as Jesus Christ." I was interested to see that the priest overheard Epifanio's end of the phone conversation he had about Sofia, including "she escaped" and "she [Morgana] died?" I can imagine what the padre must be thinking.

I had no idea until I read your recap that Veva and Alejandro's father, Antonio, is played by Eduardo Yáñez. I thought he looked somewhat familiar, but....

I found the conversation between Alejandro and his father interesting. Antonio urges him to get married and start having children. Alejandro replies that he's not like his father. I began to wonder whether Alejandro will turn out to be gay.

Gay or straight, Alejandro is smart. In his meeting with Epifanio and Lupo, Alejandro figures out where Sofia is likely to be. And he seems to be right.

I too thought "Sheila and ????." I finally looked over the cast listing and decided that ???? is Ahmed (pronounced Achmed, I think), the guy from the bar in Reina1. I didn't remember that he and Sheila were together. I was also a bit surprised when their current boss appears. He bore a resemblance to Dris Larbi from Reina1. I know he's not Dris, since Dris was killed, but....

I LOVED the scene between Cayetana and Flores! She's one strong, gutsy woman. And apparently we shouldn't write her off too quickly because of her health. Her granddaughters' alliance with Teresa has given Cayetana a new reason to live--to prevent Teresa from raising them. As you say, she puts on her lipstick and announces that she's back.

So Sofia is amused by/interested in the boy juggling the balls. Perhaps she sees him as a potential companion, or at least someone who knows the area, is self-sufficient (he gets money from passing cars), and isn't trying to trap her.

Thanks for the kind comments.

deb, it was good seeing Ed Yáñez again. The last time I saw him was in 2015 in "Amores con Trampa" and also in the movie "Ladrones". It sure seems like Cayetana has set her sights on Sofía. All the more reason for Teresa to get to Mexico ASAP.

novelera, yes, Zurdo was and it looks like is still very attracted to Teresa.

Juanita, Yes it is a PITA! Unless I can compose and save in Blogger, I usually just compose and publish directly into the comment section on my ipad. I don't copy and paste well. Thanks for the info on Epifanio threatening Anselmo's life. I do not do well with character names so I all have to add Ahmed to my ever growing list list. Thanks for looking that up.

Maybe Sofía will become a street performer. It would be a welcome departure from her expected recapture.

reina-sur2

Jarifa, we saw Big Ed as a villain in Falsa Identidad, the novela before Betty. I did recognize him, although it was not easy. Normally his hair is not pasted to his skull with a half cup of "product". And, IIRC, he now has a large moustache, which he did not have in Falsa Identidad. He doesn't seem exactly corrupt like some politicians we've seen (at least not yet), just controlling about his children. And he's 100% correct about Epifanio Vargas. So it was Beba who got her brother Alejandro into Epi's web. His motivation is hard to gauge. I suppose it's money.

I also suspect he's gay. He called the hidden dinner guest (or perhaps already a roommate) mi amor. Considering the crowd he's running with and his controlling father, he'd need to be waaaay in the closet.

It was great to see Sheila and Ahmed again. I believe Ahmed was the bartender who replaced the one Teresa outed to Dris for skimming money off the top at Yamila.

Un Poquito
Just sending a BIG thank you to Urban for "organizing" all the characters in a very detailed recaplet. I'm going to enjoy this tn a lot, though it means giving up on Dona Flor and not watching Uni's Reina Soy Yo. I noted that this is only 52 episodes. Maybe I can help out once in awhile, later on.

I'll have to go back and watch again to see who Erick is, because I don't recall seeing this scene. Don't tell me Telemundo is slicing and dicing already.

Un poquito tuyo

Thanks, Urban, for all of the detail. I liked your use of “friend zone” as a verb. Yes, Vivi is a “twit”.

Very funny: the kids trying to figure out how to make a buck.

Not funny: the whole Elvis revenge plot. Yawn!

Anita, 52 episodes? That is good to know.

Reina del Sur 2

Thanks, novelera for the info on Ahmed. Interesting theory on Alejandro.

Un Poquito Tuyo

According to the Wikipedia page it's 54 episodes and may still be counting. No end date listed; ep 54 aired on Monday.

The actor playing Johnny speaks both languages perfectly. The one playing Beto was in EHDLS. Marjorie de Sousa is not aging well.

Vivi is still a twit. Eric is the butler. The actor was mostly at Azteca TV.

reina-sur2

I'll put up a recap tonight.
