More basketball! I'll do a short recap tonight, though.

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep 6 Part I

Antonio helped Julieta with her burdens, but was spotted by Fonsi, who ran off to rat them out.

Elvis came to Elena to find out if she knew who was stalking him. She claimed to know nothing. They went inside.

Catalina could not comprehend that Erick and Rosita were resigning. She was sure they couldn't survive without them. Lupita had always thought they were happy there. He told her that they would not change their minds and came to her for their severance pay. Both Catalina and Lupita were confused as to what to do; Catalina was afraid that the whole neighborhood would think they were ruined.

When they got into the shop Antonio noticed that Julieta designed clothes. He looked at the drawings on the wall and said “You have talent; you should have your own brand.” She reminded him that this took money. He told her he'd like to help her do this. He wrote down Laura's contact information and suggested Julieta contact her for help in getting credit for a loan. She thanked him but was afraid to because she didn't want any more trouble with Catalina. Antonio said not to worry about that. She asked him about how his plan was going. He said “Well. My kids hate me, my wife wants to kill me, and my mother-in-law wants me to walk the green line, but everything is okay.” He just hopes that this will turn them into worthy people. He looked at her, became a little uneasy, and excused himself because he had a lot of things to do. He kissed her on the cheek and left, forgetting his pen.

Elvis showed the message thread to Elena. She told him this was a great opportunity to forget Julieta, but he said that that would be “the never of the nevers.” He was still stuck on her and wanted Elena's help. Elena told him to forget Julieta because this can't happen. He pulled the maturity card [Laugh] on her, saying she had never been in love. She recommended that Elvis try behaving indifferently to Julieta. Fonsi came into get him.

Vivi and Eduardo went to Beto's cafe to see about getting jobs there. Beto expressed doubt that they were really willing to learn. Eduardo reminded him that he always follows through and Vivi whined like a child, saying they can't go home without having found work because their father would throw them out of the house. [Do men really like this stupid little girl crap?] He handed them applications and said to bring them back in an hour. He told Vivi he wanted to talk to her. He had tried to talk about his feelings but she went on about friends shouldn't fall in love. This bothered him but he became determined to squash those feelings. He told her then not to come to him with her problems. She was hurt by this.

Javier was talking with classmates about the final exams – which he usually aced. His cell rang and he showed the screen to his buds. It was Madonna, who was having problems with Tomás. He like the idea, as he considered the path free. She said this was serious as her mother knew about the argument with Tomás. She wanted to fire him but stopped upon hearing he was helping his parents. They were cut off and he got the recorded message that he could not complete the call due to lack of payment.

Another love/hate encounter between Francisco and Gregoria in which she called him a decrepit old man. He said “The more you say that the more I like it.” [Madre Dios; he could do so much better!]

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep 6 Part II

Elton was doing his feng shui ritual in the shop and Elvis told him what Elena advised. Elton told him that X% of coupleswho break up and reunite still break up, so his recommendation was that he forget about Julieta and look for someone else. Elvis said he wouldn't but let him in on his latest “conquest”. He showed him the messages on his phone and Elton said “I know who this is!” Which turned out to be “someone who works in a store.” Another message came in. Elvis got too excited about this. Elena sent another message and got caught by Julieta, who grabbed the phone. She didn't read it as Elena took it back, saying she was texting a friend.

Catalina went down to the kitchen and found Azucena cooking, dressed in chef's whites (She majors in gastronomy), When Azucena addressed her as “Mami” she objected but her attitude changed when Azucena told her she had bought all the ingredients she was using and when she lifted the lid on the pot and Catalina smelled the food. She asked if Azucena wouldn't mind cooking every day for the family and Azucena accepted. Violeta and Johnny each came in and called her “Mami” which annoyed her further. She said that nobody was to call her that, everyone was responsible for his own laundry, and she wanted the kitchen spotless at all times. Johnny smelled the food and expressed his appreciation. Azucena was grateful.

Catalina found her nephews jumping on the couch and told them to stop. Lety then made them stop and told them to go out to the car with their dad. They got off the couch and Lety asked Catalina if she could borrow some money and “please don't tell Antonio.” Catalina laughed sarcastically and told her that Antonio had cancelled all their accounts so she couldn't. Also that he had resigned his position at the bank. Lety said they couldn't pay their rent so could they move in with them and Catalina put her foot down on that one. She told them they needed to give up their indulgences and work. Lety said “Well, what about yours?” and Catalina wasn't having it. Lety gathered the children and left.

Julieta and Elena talked. Elena was sure that Antonio and she were destined for each other.

Javier was cleaning display cases when Gregoria arrived and said he had to be out in half an hour before Madonna got home. She claimed he wasn't doing a good job because everything was still full of dust. She speculated that he had never cleaned anything before. He told her not to worry; everything would be transparent. Madonna arrived and Gregoria demanded she come to her office to discuss inventory. Javier stopped her long enough to pay her an elaborate compliment and to tell her to remember that her “fiance” threatened to kill him.

Beto told the siblings they needed photos and handed them aprons. Vivi was petulant as usual.

Antonio went back to the bank to return the company car that he had been driving. He spoke briefly with his replacement who wished him luck.

Catalina was actually vacuuming! With a little help from Lupita. However, after going over th couch she shut off the machine, sat down, and complained about having to do this and it was all Antonio's fault. Lupita said he did this to teach a lesson and tried to get her daughter off her rump. Catalina threatened to divorce Antonio but Lupita told her that would be insane.

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep 6 Part III

Vivi served her first customers who turned out to be students from the same school. She said she was working there to help out a friend. They both wanted to send back their food to have it made fresh and this started a fight that Beto had to break up. He took Vivi to the back room and allowed Eduardo to handle the customers. Vivi whined about how they were trying to humiliate her and he gave her the Reality 101 of being a waitress. If she couldn't serve customers or respect him as her boss she would be out the door. She asked “Are you firing me?” He told her “No, not yet, but if you don't give up this diva attitude I will.” She told him he didn't have to wait; she took off her apron and quit on the spot.

Javier tried to talk to Madonna, but they couldn't do so at the shop. She went into the office and his phone rang. When he answered he was told that his phone line was being canceled from his father's account. He said “You can't do that! My dad is Antonio Solano” just as Tomás walked in. He was in uniform. Madonna came in and Tomás demanded to know why Javier had introduced himself as Javier Perez instead. He demanded to see his identification. He started to take it out but Madonna stopped him and said she would not allow Tomás to abuse his authority. She asked Javier why he did this and he answered that his father was important and it would make his own life easier. Tomás didn't like this and said “You're hiding something and I'm going to find you out.” He walked out.

Vivi sent home and sulked in her room. Johnny knocked on her door and she said she wanted to be alone. She slightly exaggerated the previous events without telling a real lie but he told her that she just had a bad day and things would get better. Then he kissed her and climbed onto the bed for more.

Eduardo ended a phone call and had a conversation with Beto, who explained what happened. He added that nothing had ever happened between him and Vivi who had wondered whether he was gay. Eduardo told him he would not give him trouble and jokingly called him “boss.”

Vivi called a halt to the making out, telling Johnny that this wasn't right. She was looking for more as in Dating. Like going out to eat, going to the movies, etc. He understood that Dating happens before Sex, which she was not then looking for. She wasn't looking for a one-night stand. He seemed to get it and told her she was “complicated.” He left her room.

Catalina was putting out garbage when Gabriel came back with her car. He handed her the keys and told her that he did this at her husband's request because he was returning the company car. He left in the black car just as Antonio came back in a smaller blue car. Catalina misinterpreted this and was shocked when he told her that this car will be for his work, as he intended to be a taxi driver. She didn't like this one bit and said so in several different ways. He told her that this was decent work and he enjoyed driving. She went on about how would this pay for their children's expenses, etc. He told her that everything he is doing is part of a plan. All she cared about at that moment was that she was now married not to a successful man but to a lowly cab driver.

Julieta and Elena talked as Julieta worked on the dress on her mannequin. She explained that Antonio said he would help her launch her brand. Elena was still determined to see a future for the two of them. She then found Antonio's pen, which she spotted as an expensive one. Francisco entered and delivered another reminder that Antonio is from another world and married. Elena handed him some papers and he left the room. Elena said that the presence of the pen was a sign that he would call.

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep 6 Part IV

Catalina went on another near-rant about Antonio's plan, as in now that they have no servants and he expects her to clean the house and work, what was next? Being homeless? Selling gorditas and quesadillas on the street? “Everything has its limits.” He told her he wasn't asking anything unnatural. There are people with family busiensses who work together. She then asked whether he expected her to be like “that one.” He told her not to disparage people like Julieta and what does she want? She told him that that was not her place. She said she realized that nobody knows what they have until they lose it.

Francisco sent Gregoria a text; the image was that of himself when Elvis' age. She was more amused than she wanted to admit when Madonna noticed the change in her attitude. Madonna teased her and she told her that since her father died she's had eyes for no other man. Madonna said nothing but grinned as if thinking “Mama, you are so full of it.”

Catalina vented to Lupita who told her that men are like tequila: fun at first then they give you headaches. Vivi appeared and cried that men are horrible. She's so fed up she's thinking about becoming a nun. Catalina went “What?” in a manner of genuine bewilderment.

Madonna apologized to Javier for Tomás' behavior and he replied that guys don't like competition. He tried to kiss her and she stopped him. She said that Tomás was her novio and she loved him. Besides, she didn't like liars. That's one thing she can't forgive. She left the room.

Catalina and Lupita asked Vivi what happened with the gringo and she told them they had... an argument. She avoided the truth that would have bothered them more and devolved into Whiny Child mode [I have the feeling that this will happen in every episode until almost the end of the story] and started balling her eyes out. Before Catalina could get more annoyed with her Eduardo came home and talked about Dad having bought a cheap car, etc. Vivi got even more upset at the prospect of classmates finding out that her dad was a cab driver. Eduardo started laughing and Vivi started crying like a stupid child. Catalina said nothing, but was fed up; Lupita tried to calm Vivi down.

Tomás dined with Madonna's family for the purpose of asking their permission to marry her.She dropped her fork while Elvis and Gregoria looked at him very seriously.

Violeta prepared to take a shower only to find Eduardo at the door. She kissed him and pulled him into the room.

Julieta fought with herself for a minute or two then texted Antonio, who was just getting into bed. His phone signaled a message and Catalina grabbed it before he could see it.

LA REINA DEL SUR – LUNES – Parte 1 de 2

Yikes, the basketball game went into overtime. But the Warriors won! Yay!

Siso and Zurdo talk. Apparenty I was wrong about Siso telling Zurdo he was getting the pasta meaning Teresa. But he drops her name in passing. Zurdo is thrilled to hear Teresa is no longer in hiding.

Teresa sees the fluorescent paintings in the place where they had Sofía until she got away. She sees Lupo, but STILL doesn’t get the Italian connection. Batman tells her that the F.B. on the mural is his name: Facundo plus Batman. But Batman still doesn’t tell Teresa about Lupo.

Oleg offers Batman big bucks if he’ll join them, but it doesn’t work. He says that, if he betrays Epifanio, he’s a dead man. I enjoy the way Batman talks and his word choices!

Epifanio and Alejandro figure out from the videos that Sofía is hiding in the tunnel.

In the streets of D.F. Lupo sees Sofía. He gets out of his car to try to catch her, but Mercedes and her rotten “employee” get Sofía and Simón into her car. She promises them a better corner in D.F. Lupo follows them in his car.

In D.C. some guy makes a real key from the cell phone copy Jonathan made. However, the guy tells him it’s not a door key, rather a safe deposit box key.

Manuela’s mother has come home from the hospital in a wheelchair. Sergio is delighted to see his grandmother.

Paloma is griping about being in Mexico, but Rocío reminds her of what would have happened to them in Spain. Willy arrives with Raimundo (Ray), Güero Dávila’s nephew. It appears the Spanish girls like him a lot.

Teresa spots Lupo in D.F., and follows him.

Epifanio kind of admires Sofía, a chip off the old block. He calls her La Reina del Metro!

LA REINA DEL SUR – LUNES – Parte 2 de 2

Mercedes takes the kids inside her house, while Lupo watches. Inside Simón tells Sofía about the street corner in Polanco [a neighborhood in D.F.?] that they’ll get and how much money they’ll make.

Mercedes brings in some white clothes for Sofía to change into. Uh oh! When Sofía goes into a room to change, Simón reminds the hyena that she said the dirtier they were the better. I now hate Mercedes more than Morgana.

Teresa approaches Lupo outside the house, not knowing her daughter is inside. She asks him why he’s already in Mexico. He makes up a good lie.

Charo tells Cayetana that she needs to learn to forgive. The resentment and hatred could kill her.

Teresa and Oleg bribe someone to show them the same subway videos of Sofía. They also realize she’s in the tunnel.

The next scene is ghastly. One Hector arrives. When Sofía asks where Simón has gone [he was hustled out of there by Mercedes and told to get back to work], she says he’s gone to change clothes. When Hector asks about Simón Mercedes says that he’s a bit skinny, but maybe he’d like to take a look later. Hector pays 200,000 pesos [10,470 dollars, according to the internet] for Sofía.

While the pervert tries to seduce her, Sofía hears in her mind what her mother told her about “stranger danger”. When he leans in to kiss her, she bites him in the neck and then bashes him with something off the coffee table. She runs up the stairs and we see her peering out an open window, while Mercedes gets out a key to open the door. [I see some convenient vines on the side of the house.]

La Reina 2

novelera, Yay! Your team won. How exciting for it to have gone to overtime! Thank you for your most excellent recap. Yes, Polanco is a “very nice” neighborhood in Mexico City. It was so effective when Sofía was remembering her mother’s “stranger danger” warnings as you so aptly described it.

Deb, you called it about the human trafficking. The pervert was bleeding heavily. Could Sofía have injured his carotid artery? Here is hoping Sofía did some lethal damage. Teresa taught her well.

I cannot wait until Teresa finds out that that rat Francesco has been lying to her all this time.

I am glad you, novelera, remembered that was Manuela’s mother in the wheel chair. I had forgotten all about her.

My customary RANT: It has been particularly annoying with all of the four letter words bleeped one more time because there are so many of them and I would say especially here they are integral to the characters and ambience of the novela because that is how the novela “a work of art” was created in the first place. I know the yada yada yada reasoning for why they do it, but it is still annoying because it causes me the viewer to expend more energy as my brain has to fill the bleeps all in. LOL? Here is hoping some day the original uncensored versions of novelas are made available to those who are not easily offended like me.

On we go!

Reina del sur 2 RECAPPER signing up!

novelera and Juanita, you can add me to your recapping team. I can take Wednesdays.

reina-sur2

Many thanks, novelera, for this great recap, with extra points given for doing it in addition to watching the overtime game. Congrats on the Warriors' win!

Siso not only mentions Teresa to Zurdo, he also goes on at some length about how intent he is on killing her. I wonder how Zurdo feels about this, since he seems totally enamored with her.

Batman tells Teresa that FB means Facundo Batman, but after she and Oleg leave, he wonders how Sofia knew that his middle name was Facundo. So the story Batman told Teresa was a lie. My guess from the start was that FB stands for Francesco Belmondo, and the fact that Batman lied about it makes me think I may be right. (I was also impressed and somewhat surprised that Batman could come up with such an explanation on the spur of the moment.)

Teresa tells Batman that the offer she and Oleg made him (to come to her side) remains on the table, and if Batman finds Sofia before Teresa does and gives Sofia to her, Teresa will get rid of Epifanio for him. I'm wondering whether this may turn out to be what happens. Certainly, if they move Sofia to Sinaloa, as Batman suggests to Epifanio and Alejandro, he'd be able to let Teresa know her new whereabouts. Whether he'll do so is another matter. As he made clear, betrayal is punished by death.

Thanks for "La Reina del Metro." In my stupor last night, I totally missed this.

Yes, deb nailed Mercedes' interest in the children, and I think your "Uh oh" when Mercedes wants Sofia to change into a white dress suggests that you caught on before I did. But from the minute that "Señor Hector" arrives, I too guessed who/what he was. Yuck! But, like you, I was happy to see that Sofia had learned well Teresa's "stranger danger" warnings.

reina-sur2

Jarifa, I'm delighted that you've decided to do the Wednesday recaps (as you've been doing so well on an ad hoc basis)! That's great news! ¡Muchísimas gracias!

And I definitely second your RANT about all the bleeping. It's especially a problem for me because my Spanish isn't all that good, and bleeping so many words makes it more difficult for me to follow the meaning of the sentence. I guess I understand bleeping at the 8 pm time slot, but impressionable children shouldn't be watching a 10 pm novella. However, I fear that nothing we can say or do will make Telemundo change its policy. [Bleep bleep bleep bleep!!]

reina-sur2

Jarifa, a million thanks for taking Wednesday. That's my Spanish class night and I could never do Wednesdays.

Also, ITA about the bleeped curse words. I read lips pretty well and I always know what is bleeped. But it ruins the rhythm of the speech.

I did NOT get FB being for Francesco Belmondo. I totally bought Batman's story, but then I was watching in a hurry.

I noticed the title of the episode. Hija de tigre, pintada, a female take on the dicho - hijo de tigre, pintado literally the cub of the tiger is striped or a chip off the old block.

La Reina Sur 2

Juanita, great take on the Francesco Belmondo. I hadn’t thought of that but it makes perfect sense. Sofía gave Teresa all of the info she needs in that mural. Did Teresa take a photo of it? I hope she did because it may spur her on to think more about what is there.

I wonder if they will bleep this when it is shown in Spanish speaking countries. After what I see and hear on network TV all evening long, I resent the powers that be trying to protect my sensitive ears. I wonder if our ears here are more sensitive than other ears around the world . . . Too funny!

If Sofía manages to get away, where does she go without getting caught by somebody? There would be three groups looking for her.

La Reina Sur 2

novelera, thanks for pointing out the title. I never noticed that.

La Reina Sur 2

I am counting Teresa as one of those groups due to the fact that Sofía is currently angry with her.

Reina 2

I marvel at your recaps novelera, so simple and complete!

"Polanco is often called the "Beverly Hills of Mexico City", being the city's densest concentration of luxury shopping" ...wiki

I wonder if Batman knows Francesco by that name, and if his middle name is really Facundo, did he say it was like hitman in italian or something, but he managed to get Teresa off the subject.

yep, Batman knows the score, betrayal gets you hanging from a bridge.

Francesco did a good job of not jumping out of his skin when Teresa shows up behind him, and brings him up to date, seeing Sofia's painting and all, ut oh, he wants to help in the search, Oleg and Teresa leave, but we don't see him going anywhere.

so both Epi and Teresa know about the subway tunnel, maybe Teresa can grab Simon.

interesting scene where Sofia looks at pics of Rocio and Paloma on a tablet.

Reina 2

I believe the bleeeping is required by the FCC on broadcast tv, but doesn't apply on cable, satellite, or internet.

reina-sur2

Deb, does this mean I could watch the episode again on Telemundo's site and hear all the wonderful cursing?

Reina 2

novelera- I think they just edit it once for all platforms, maybe they could rewrite the script and say things like darn and shucks.

I see the Telemundo site now offers the choice of english or spanish CC's.

ah, Batman brought up that when Teresa deals with Zurdo Villa, he will be the go between with Epi, and able to help her.

reina-sur2

novelera, thanks very much for Hija de tigre, pintada. I saw that was the episode's title, but I assumed it meant something like daughter of the painted tiger and didn't think more about it, even though "painted tiger" didn't make much sense to me. (Come to think of it, though, weren't there painted tigers in Sofia's second mural?) Anyway, I didn't know the expression hijo de tigre, pintado meaning a chip off the old block. I'm happy to know this one, and it definitely fits the episode and Sofia's character in general.

deb, I too wondered whether Batman knew Francesco by that name. My assumption about FB referring to Francesco Belmondo is partly because of the letters and partly because Batman wonders to himself how Sofia knew his middle name was Facundo. That told me that what he'd said to Teresa and Oleg was a lie. Then again, he did say that Sofia said Facundo was like facondo in Italian, which she said (according to Batman) means con man. It's unlikely that Batman would know this without Sofia's having told him. But it also seems unlikely that she'd refer to Batman in the mural by his middle and last initials. So I'm a little unsure about the significance of FB--there are arguments for and against all the theories we've advanced. Then again, perhaps the writers got confused.

As for the bleeps, I get TV from Comcast cable. If bleeping is not required on cable, I'm not sure why Comcast would use it. Then again, if Telemundo is availaable on broadcast TV, perhaps Telemundo makes available just the one (bleeped) version for use everywhere. ??

Reina 2

Juanita, I'm pretty sure FB was for Francesco Belmondo, Sofia had identified Batman by putting in the batkids, and whether he knew that name or not, he wanted to lead Teresa away from Lupo, and later he surely didn't want them to bring Sofia back there, to many reasons here for getting a hot cigar in the palm of his hand, and now Teresa has told Francesco that she saw the painting in the safe house.

La Reina del Sur 2

Juanita, I just checked it out and Season 1 wasn’t bleeped on Netflix but the offensive words were not put spelled out in the subtitles. That is where I saw Season 1 so that is probably one reason I have been so aware and annoyed by the bleeps here. Of course they could have done the show without any offensive words in the first place.

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep 7 Part I

Catalina grabbed Antonio's phone to see the opening of Julieta's post where she addressed Antonio as “Romeo.” She asked about this and he challenged her to answer it if she was suspicious. She got annoyed enough to get up and leave the bed. He quickly blocked her number.

Eduardo was in the shower with Violeta. He suggested they have a hot night, since Azucena was at a seminar at the uni. She seemed on board with that.

Tomás announced that he wanted to marry Madonna. Everyone stared at him. Gregoria wanted to know what the rush was and the boys wanted to make sure there hadn't been any consequences of any hanky-panky. Madonna didn't want to get married yet; she still had her career to think about. Tomás' excuse was that any major decision took time. She told him that if he really loved her he would respect her decision.

Julieta chewed Elena out for suggesting that she contact Antonio. She wasn't sure that his wife had seen the message because he had blocked her number. She felt humiliated.

Javier went to his parents' bedroom and told his dad that he laughed at the prospect of him becoming a cab driver. He thought it quite original and unlike his sibs he supported it. Antonio said they would keep this to themselves. He then asked whether he knew how to get himself unblocked on the cell phone and Javier said there was no way.

Catalina had taken her cell phone with her when she left the bedroom. She called her doctor to make an appointment, saying she desperately had to see him. She called him “baby” and not the cradle kind. Lupita entered at the tail end of this and asked whom she was talking to. She didn't buy the answer, saying that she didn't talk like a patient. [A big ¡Aha! This sounds like she's stepping out on Antonio.] Catalina said she was hoping for a free consultation because she has no money to pay for one. She scolded her mum and walked out.

Eduardo and Violeta were getting their freak on when Azucena came home. She called out and Violeta yelled through the two doors that she was exfoliating. Azucena didn't want to eat alone and brought enough for the two of them. Eduardo whispered a suggestion and Violeta said “Why don't you go downstairs to the kitchen and I'll meet you there in 10?” Azucena said something about the recipe, Eduardo wanted to continue what he and Violeta were doing, and she put him off. Azucena then said “See you downstairs.” She left the bedroom and it looked like Violeta and Eduardo continued where they had left off.

The following morning Antonio was getting ready for work and still having to tell Catalina that this was not the end of the world. He was doing this for the good of his children and their marriage. Catalina commented that they should have made these decisions together and he conceded that. However, she had been part of the problem. She said she was perfectly satisfied with the life they had and now she felt deceived. Her children were traumatized by now realizing that their father had made himself into a nobody.

Beto came to Eduardo for a lift to school and Eduardo told him he wasn't going back. He didn't get to explain because Antonio came out of the house. He wasn't pleased at the idea of Eduardo not finishing college and asked him what he planned to do with his life. Eduardo said he would drive a cab, just like him! When Beto indicated he didn't understand Eduardo told him in a manner that made it sound like a big joke. He was shocked when Beto said that this was a great idea and a thing of genius. Beto shook Antonio's hand. Eduardo said he had to have breakfast because he was hungry and went inside. Beto followed him. Antonio laughed quietly.

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep 7 Part II

Vivi was in bed and refusing to go to school out of shame. She told Catalina it was all Dad's fault. She is sure that everyone there is making fun of her. Catalina told her that she was a Nice Girl, well-brought up [???] and she shouldhold her head up high.

Elvis sat in a cafe with Elton and got a message from Elena. He started looking around, noticed that there was a girl with a cell phone at a table near the window. Elton began getting nervous about this and suggested he talk to the police. Elvis didn't want to do that. He said Elena would help him get Julieta back. Julieta walked in just in time to hear that.

Javier was sweeping in front of the store and telling Madonna he had no classes the next day so he could put in extra hours. He flirted with Madonna who held him at (almost) arm's length only to have Tomás show up in uniform to bug him again about encroaching on his turf.

Julieta asked Elvis why he was nervous. He denied being nervous but she said she knew him well enough to know when something was wrong. He continued to deny it just as he got a new message. Elton told Julieta what was up.

Beto talked to Vivi who said she was afraid. She asked if he would give her a second chance. He said he would. She was happy with this although it is still obvious that he would like to be more than best friends with her. Johnny came down ready to swim and there was a little tension. He told Beto that as an American he doesn't do jealousy “That's for you guys, Latinos. You know, passion...” [He will get his face smashed in eventually over comments like this, I'm sure]. Beto started to disabuse him of this and simply told them that they were celebrating Vivi feeling better and coming back to work the next day. Beto left and Vivi told Johnny she didn't appreciate him interrupting them.

Eduardo seems to love playing with fire, especially in the kitchen when he flirted with Azucena while she was cooking. She gave him a taste of what she was working on and Violeta came in with a laundry basket. The vibe was uneasy.

Elena denied to Julieta that she was trying to get them back together.

Elvis and Elton were in the office of their mother's store and talked about this. Elton doesn't do well with chicks and Elvis said it's because they don't feel the same with him. Gregoria came in and Elton made a comment about her kissing Francisco, which set Elvis off. Elton finally said it was a joke. Elvis was really charged the wrong way. Gregoria got a text from Francisco at that moment and had to hide it from the boys.

It's confirmed: Catalina is boinking the doctor [and he is a looker].

Antonio went to Julieta's store and was greeted by Elena. He was there to explain the last night's mishap. He took her cell number, toldher itwas his first day driving a cab. He gave her a kiss on the cheek as he left.

His first fare was a whole mariachi band who were already late to their gig. Somehow they all fit in and they began singing as Antonio pulled out.

Johnny got out of the pool and tried talking with Vivi, who explained that her father would hit the ceiling if anything happened between them. He told her he had a theory about her father, that he is bankrupt and didn't want to tell his family. Vivi denied it, saying that her father is very successful and that this is a midlife crisis. She then walked away. [And what is Johnny doing to make money or is he some rich kid who can afford to hang out all day by the pool?]

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep 7 Part III

Francisco overheard part of his daughters' conversation and told Julieta that she shouldn't jump back in so soon.

Tomás has taken to following Javier around. He took photos.

Gregoria sold something to a cute couple and congratulated them [Must have been an engagement ring]. After they left she commented about them to Madonna who told her she did not want to get married yet. Gregoria scoffed at her comments about wanting a career first and Gregoria made comments about Javier being a nobody. Her cell signaled a message and she sneaked a peak at the message from Francisco.

Elton went to see Elena, saying he wanted to buy a dress for his mother. She told him that she doesn't sell things to women who think they're queen of the world, but she would see. When she went to fetch something Elton looked around and saw the book cover that Elvis' stalker used as a profile shot. He called her on it when she came back with a red dress.

Julieta went to help at an orphanage (or whatever). She talked with the headmistress who thanked her for her time and donations. She told her she should have children and Julieta said she would like to but now is not the time. The usual you'll-meet-the-right-man conversation, and Julieta talked about Antonio. The headmistress said she should find someone because she was beautiful, smart, etc.

Elena admitted to it. Elton took the book and was going to out her to Elvis but she persuaded him not to, saying she did this only to make him feel better. He promised not to tell Elvis and she kissed him multiple times on the cheek, which he seemed to like. A lot.

Catalina arrived at home to hear her mother complain about the dust that is affecting her lungs and voice. Lupita then asked what took, so long and Catalina had her story worked out about a thorough exam because of all her surgeries. She also claimed to take a walk in the park afterward, which Lupita said wasn't like her. Catalina ranted about how she needed to relax considering what was going on and how she is now married to a man who brought himself down in the world.

Eltin sold a watch as Elvis came back After something incoherent he ratted Elena out. Elvis became angry, saying he's going to make sure she knows not to mess with him. Elton said something about not wanting their families to be at war [WTF does he think has been going on?]. Elvis stormed out.

Elena, Julieta, and their dad were talking about Julieta's donations and how maternal she is. Francisco wants to be an abuelo. Julieta sensed that something was wrong but Elena wouldn't talk. Julieta's cell signaled a message and she went out. She said it was a lottery vendor.

Javier got home and the refrigerator was as empty as one just delivered brand new. Not even a can of sardines! Eduardo needed gas for his car and Vivi discovered that she had hit her data limit on her cell phone. Catalina was a bit fed up but told them all that they were going to work and prove Antonio wrong about them.

Antonio told Julieta he enjoyed his first day as a cabbie. He had not bothered to check his phone or anything. He felt like he was in touch with people again. He suggested they celebrate.

Francisco met Gregoria at the park bench. She was determined “to settle things.”

Tomás went into the shop to show the video to Madonna that Javier isn't poor.

Elvis confronted Elena.

Antonio brought Julieta home and he was in a good mood. Not like when driving with Catalina, who was always back-seat driving and nagging. They agreed to be best friends.

I'll do a recap of tonight's episode.

reina-sur2
La Reina del Sur 2- Martes - Parte 1 de 3

Sofia climbs out of the window in Mercedes' house and drops to the ground. She has hurt her leg and flees, limping. Meanwhile, Lupo drives up, gives his car key to someone, and tries to pick the lock on what looks like the garage to Mercedes' house. Sofia runs into him, sees it's Lupo, and crying, hugs him. She asks him to help her, that a man tried to touch her and she cut him in the neck with a credit card, as her mother had taught her to do. Mercedes comes out and sees the two of them. Lupo pulls a gun on her and asks, "Are you the woman who sold my daughter?" Mercedes tells him that children tell lies. Just then, the bleeding Hector arrives, asking Mercedes where she found that zorrita (little slut). "Is that my daughter you're talking about?" asks Lupo. He grabs Hector, tells him he doesn't deserve to live, and shoots him in his side. Lupo then tells Sofia to close her eyes, and he points his gun at Mercedes. She pleads with him not to kill her, and then she says, "The girl is running away." Lupo turns, sees she's telling the truth, tells her this is her lucky day, and goes off in pursuit of Sofia.

Oleg and Teresa are in the subway tunnels looking for where Sofia could hide. They find one space large enough, though it has high voltage wires nearby. Teresa finds a shoe that looks to be her daughter's size.

Oleg and Teresa then come upon Alejandro. Oleg warns him that Sofia better turn up safe and sound, or all hell with rain down on Epifanio, Alejandro, and everyone else involved. Teresa tells him that she knows he's hiding something very dark. She also says that if she finds Sofia first, Epifanio can kiss his presidential aspirations goodbye.

I don't remember where Conejo and the others are staying in Mexico City, but they're all sitting around. Conejo and Willy quiz each other about their lives. Spouses? Children? Conejo tells him she never had children, but she did have a husband. "He and his mother decided to die on the same day." Willy then tells her "I watched my son die. I killed him myself." Willy explains that he was on a mission and didn't know that his son was a drug trafficker. They raided a place and a guy whose face was covered pointed a gun at Willy. "It was him."
That confession prompts Conejo to admit "I killed my husband. But not by accident. Also his mother."

At the TV studio, someone brings Marietta a photo of Teresa Mendoza taken just a few hours earlier at a private airport in Mexico City. Marietta wants to include it in her program, but she also wants to find out what Teresa is doing in Mexico.

Sofia runs down the stairs of the subway station where Teresa and Oleg are. Teresa catches sight of her and runs after her. Sofia runs out of the station with Teresa and Oleg trying to catch up to her. There's a large political demonstration taking place right outside the station. Sofia runs in among the demonstrators, making it hard for anyone to see her. Oleg tells Teresa that it's futile, they'd be wiser to hang around the station, Sofia is likely to return. Teresa is determined to continue searching now. She pulls out a gun and fires it into the air. That makes the crowd scatter but Sofia remains unseen. Oleg warns Teresa that she shouldn't do anything that might make the police arrest her, "you're no good to her in prison."

Back at the house where Conejo et al are staying, we learn that Willy's mother was from Sinaloa. Not sure whether that will turn out to be important. Also, Paloma is clearly attracted to Ray, and perhaps he to her. However, when she gets up from the couch where she'd been sitting, she collapses on the floor. Conejo observes that this is not unusual with pregnancy. Ray looks stunned.

La Reina del Sur 2- Martes - Parte 2 de 3

Teresa says to Oleg that if el Güero hadn't betrayed Epifanio, Epifanio wouldn't have killed Güero, "and none of this would be happening to my daughter."Oleg points out that if Güero hadn't died, "you wouldn't be the woman you are today, and you wouldn't have your daughter. And we'd never have met."

Batman tells Epifanio that they've found a house in Culiacan where they can keep Sofia. "First we have to find her," replies Epifanio. Batman leaves as Alejandro arrives. But just as Alejandro and Epifanio start to discuss matters, Veva comes to talk to Epifanio. Someone has told her that Teresa Mendoza is in Mexico. Marietta has photos that she's going to use in her program about Epifanio. Alejandro leaves, but soon returns and tells Veva she has to leave immediately. There are many journalists outside. She leaves to take a pill for a headache. Alejandro tells Epifanio that he made that story up to get Veva out before Carmen comes in. She's insisting on talking to Epifanio and says she won't leave until she does.

Epifanio tells his men to let Carmen come in. She tells him that she talked to Father Anselmo, who is very scared because Epifanio threatened him. Epifanio's behavior toward the priest convinces Carmen to never give Epifanio a divorce. She asks him, "Have you no respect for ecclesiastical authority?" To which Epifanio replies, "I wipe my ass with that ecclesiastical authority." He starts berating Carmen. Suddenly, Veva appears, saying "That's no way to speak to a fellow journalist." Carmen says she's not a journalist, but she is a great fan of Veva's program. Moreover, her granddaughter is one of Veva's students, and she thinks Veva is one of the best faculty members. Carmen then introduces herself: "I'm Carmen Vargas, wife of Epifanio Vargas." Oops."Did you say you were once married to Epifanio?" asks Veva. Carmen replies, not "was married," I "am married." Epifanio tries to deny what Carmen is saying. Veva tells Carmen, "Your husband is a liar." She then asks Epifanio, "When were you plannng to tell me you're a married man? The day before the wedding? Or were you never planning to marry me?" Veva then storms out. Alejandro tries to calm her down, but she's also furious with Alejandro for not telling her about Epifanio.

Jonathan appears at the First Mutual Bank and says he'd like to open a security box. They ask him for identification and he provides ID for someone named Perez. That seems fine, so the bank official takes him to the room with the safe deposit boxes and leaves, saying he'll be back in 5 minutes. Apparently, Jonathan has brought someone's key and ID solely in order to gain access to the room with the safe deposit boxes. As soon as the bank official leaves, Jonathan starts trying to find the box that will open with the key he copied. After several unsuccessful attempts, he finds the box, opens it, and takes out what looks like a flash drive with KIRA printed on it. He copies the contents of the drive and puts it back just before the bank official returns.

Alejandro returns to talk to Epifanio. Epifanio is concerned about Father Anselmo. He has to be dealt with. Alejandro suggests letting Lupo handle it. Epifanio likes the idea and tells Alejandro that he doesn't want to hear anything about it until the priest is food for worms.

Reina del sur 2
I won’t be able to do a recap this Friday but I can do May 31.

reina-sur2
La Reina del Sur 2- Martes - Parte 3 de 3

Teresa comes to the house where Conejo and the others are staying. She greets Ray especially warmly. She tells him his uncle was her first love, a great love, and the most important. But then for some reason she goes on to name and talk about each of the other men she has loved: Santiago, Teo ("who betrayed me but gave me my daughter"), and Oleg, "who has a small name but a huge heart." She hasn't noticed that Oleg has just entered the room. [This scene rings very false to me. It seems highly unlikely and inappropriate that Teresa would follow up her statement to Ray about how much she loved Güero and how important he was to her with a recital about the others.]

Conejo and the others leave the room. Willy and Teresa are the only ones left. Willy says he wanted to know how Teresa's daughter was. Teresa tells him she doesn't trust him. He tells her, "I got you out of Moscow. I brought Cayetana's granddaughters to Mexico. What else to I have to do to be trusted?" Teresa replies that he's DEA, and she doesn't trust the DEA.

Sofia and Simón are together. Sofia warns Simón not to trust Mercedes, that she's evil, that she sold Sofia to an evil man and wants to sell Simón, too. Before she can say more, Lupo appears, grabs Sofia, and carries the screaming girl to a truck. He locks her in it. Simón tries to stop him, but he's clearly no match for Lupo. Lupo then gets into the truck and drives off, unaware that Simón is holding on to the back of the truck.

[I'm not sure why, but this part didn't get posted last night.]

reina-sur2

What a terrific and detailed recap, Juanita! Thanks so much.

I thought I might have seen a tiny spark between Willy and Conejo. I know he's decades older than she likes them, but still...

So Lupo finding Sofía was a glass half empty kind of thing. He saved her from being recaptured by Mercedes and Hector, but he ultimately puts her in the back of a truck.

I thought Lupo shot Hector in the genitals. The actor did a great job expressing his sustained fury at both the child molester and the woman who profits from that.

So a bit OT, why doesn't Willy ever tell Manuela, or if he did I missed it, that Patty O'Farrell killed her sister? She drove off a cliff after finding out she was a DEA plant. Teresa had nothing to do with it.

Sheila was the one who got us Willy's backstory. She was astonished someone who spoke like Willy;i.e. a native Spanish speaker, could be in the DEA.

I'm kind of surprised Epifanio and Alejandro are so intent on bumping off Padre Anselmo. The more logical hit would be Carmen herself.

I always knew Sofía would be recaptured. If Teresa gets hold of her this early, then there's no Zurdo-Teresa plot line. I feel like that's going to be a major one. But it makes me sad to see that valiant little girl back in the same situation.

Reina 2

thanks so much Juanita, a very nice recap!

I hadn't realized Sofia slashed Hector's throat with the credit card till she said so, wow, deadly move, but I too think Lupo shot him in the privates.

Francesco is an interesting actor playing his different roles to different people, but he seems to have layered on his good side, falling for Teresa and Sofia, and what a dilemma, he can't let Sofia go free of she will out him to Teresa.

and didn't he tell Cayetana that he wasn't a hit man, and now he will be given the job of getting rid of the priest (I too am not sure why Epi wants this done, why not make Carmen disappear)

Conejo is living up to her name, delighted with Ray and flirting with Willy.

did anyone catch what Batman said about the house in Culiacán, something about the redlight district, Teresa's old neighborhood ??

clever home Simon had, the adults couldn't get in there.

yep, Sofia told Simon that Mercedes was the devil, they had to leave and never go back, I'm glad that Simon is tagging along.

Reina Del Sur 2

Thanks, Novelera. The recap was excellent.

I was sorry to see Teresa be captured again but there were few options at this point. How long can Simón hold on? Maybe they will keep him around to keep Teresa entertained?

novelera, I was wondering the same thing about Anselmo’s fate unless Epifanio wants to make a power play and point out to Carmen that she has NO control over anything: an example of his sadistic streak. Carmen’s own death might be too easy for a Carmen who won’t shut up and disappear. If Lupo shot Héctor in the genitals, it was a well placed and thoughtful shot.

reina-sur2

Many thanks, novelera, deb, and Jarifa, for your valuable comments. I know that Lupo pointed his gun first at Hector's side and then at his family jewels, but I decided that if he had been shot in the, um, jewels, he would have been screaming louder and wouldn't have been able to get up. So although I too would rather think that's where Lupo shot him, I went with his side. I'd love to be wrong here! :-)

As for why Padre Anselmo, I think that in addition to what Jarifa says about a power play, there's also the fact that shooting Carmen would probably bring out that she was married to Epifanio, and there might be more investigation of Epifanio, not what he'd want in the midst of a presidential campaign.

I think that what some of us thought about Carmen's granddaughter (Jimena?) will turn out to be true, namely, that she was the student who asked Veva after class why, since she's done such a great job covering (and uncovering) the other candidates, she has said so little about Epifanio.

deb, I didn't catch all that was said about the house in Culiacan, but I think they said it was near someplace called the Red Lantern, though I'm not sure.

As I was poking around just now trying to find mention of the name of Carmen's granddaughter, I saw that Jonathan is listed as Jonathan Peres, which I guess means that he may have used his own key and ID to get into the bank's safe deposit room. Also, Mercedes' name is listed as Mercedes Vargas! Is it possible she's related to Epifanio? I realize that Vargas isn't all that uncommon a name, but still, why give her that name unless there's a connection?

POQUITO
UA--Thank you for all the double duty you've been doing.

Boy in only one sentence you sure said a lot--"It's confirmed: Catalina is boinking the doctor [and he is a looker]."

So, she's not a goody two-shoes who would NEVER cheat on Antonio. Just you wait, Cata, just you wait. Antonio will have nothing to feel guilty about with respect to his feelings for Julieta (even if not acted upon until later), once this news somehow gets out. No wonder UA originally described her as someone who spent a lot of Antonio's money on plastic surgery to keep herself looking young!!!

I think Raul Coronado has found his proper niche in acting. He makes a terrific Elvis.

Too bad I kind of like Tomas for Madonna. A pat on the back for his so far unsuccessful attempts to unmask Javier, who so deserved to be. And who is SHE to talk, her mother OWNS and operates a JEWELRY store, for heaven's sakes.

I'm really enjoying UN POQUITO, and wish others were here chiming in.

Poquito

We knew Catalina wouldn't be a GTS once we saw how high-maintenance she is. Her accusations come from her own actions, like those of most narcissists.

I think Tomas is a controller. That he is constantly stalking Javier and interrogating Madonna on whom she's been with or where she's been is a very bad omen for what she can expect later. She has already accused him of abuse of authority, so that does not bode well for him professionally as well as personally. She needs to lose him and have a career.

I don't recall anything having been said about Gregoria's husband, but I suspect he ran out on her. I don't think Madonna should settle for her mother's kind of life.

POQUITO
Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that Tomas is right for Madonna. It's just that he at least, isn't starting out with a false resume and constantly having to modify it the way Javier is. But that's what tns are all about.

reina-sur2

Jarifa, that fine recap was Juanita's, not mine.

Simón is so delightful that I don't think we've seen the last of him. Plus it would be awful if he had to go back to Mercedes' operation, especially since she said something about, IIRC, fattening him up a little so he'd be more acceptable to child molesters. Although, I thought they went for one sex or the other, so Hector's delight at seeing Sofía made me wonder if he'd go for Simón. Perhaps she was referring to other guys like him who go for boys. [This whole thing makes me shudder.]

TELEMUNDO:

Novelera: I'm just waiting for "ESDLC" to come back.

Reina del Sur 2
I love Carmencita! She got some really good jabs in AND had the last word on her way out. I must have missed when they threatened the padrecito, I know Epifanio went to get his blessing and then Padre overhead Epifanio yelling on the phone about Sofia escaping.
Such a tense scene when Lupo re-kidnapped Sofia. I don’t want Simon to get hurt!

Reina del Sur 2

Thanks, novelera, for the info on who wrote what. 😊

blockhead, I hope that Simon doesn’t get lost in the shuffle and that he ends up in a better situation by the end of the novela. Here is hoping he doesn’t turn out to be expendable. He is such a cute little kid.

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep 8 – Quick and Dirty

Elvis confronted Elena, accusing her of making fun of him. Julieta realized what was up but told Elena this was childish.

Tomas said that Javier was making fun of Madonna by pretending not to be a frivolous rich kid. They argued.

Same argument between Francisco and Gregoria.

Catalina and the others told Antonio that the bills were piling up. He admitted he was making them dive into things and suggested a solution: A major garage sale. This did not go over well. Viviana decided to leave home. She ran to Beto.

Elvis looked down on Elena while she still mooned over him.

Eduardo reluctantly cleaned out his closet. Lots of sports equipment, including skis.

Madonna called Javier to meet her in the park the next day, probably to wash him out of her hair.

Catalina tried to get Antonio to stop Vivi. He said she'd be crawling back in 24 hours. Lety and Mateo owe three months' rent (not one) and all their credit cards have been cancelled. Antonio paid the outstanding school tuition fees for his nephews, but nothing else.

Azucena and Violeta talked about leaving because of the family conflicts. Azucena spotted a hickey on Violeta's neck.

Johnny came back from photographing Xochomilco (so he does do some work). There is jealousy between the two female students over Eduardo.

Beto's mother jumped to conclusions about Beto and Vivi, but let her stay. Beto is banished to the couch while Vivi gets his room. Beto texted Antonio to tell him Vivi was with him.

Elvis and his besties went on the prowl.

Lety and Mateo argued about his lack of ambition and her need to look rich.

Catalina went with Lety to shop for groceries in a cheaper market. Food fight ensued in the tomato aisle when a man pinched Catalina on the cuolo. She vented to her lover boy later. She got home to the garage sale sign. She told a friend they were doing this for charity, but Johnny's megaphone contradicted this. Erick and Rocio came to buy a few things. Catalina was mortified.

Vivi was not happy at work. She was rude to Antonio when he called her.

Madonna confronted Javier over his deception. Elena told Elvis she loved him. [Good luck with that.]

Julieta gave Antonio a good luck charm for his car. He had to run home where he had a fight with Catalina, who decided to throw him out of the house.

La Reina del Sur 2 Wednesday 5/22 capítulo 22 Parte 1

In Washington, D.C., Jonathan is opening the file he copied from the safe deposit box USB drive. As he is opening the file, the owner of the file who is Manuela is being notified that access is being granted to the file is her cell phone. She grabs the safe deposit box key and asks Sergio if he took the key from the house or left any strangers in. He knows nothing about anything. When Jonathan opens the file it turns out to be a collection of photos of Teresa.

Francesco and his kidnapping truck arrive outside of the kidnapping house where Teresa was held. Simón jumps off the back and hides as Simón goes inside the truck and ties up Sofía and tapes her mouth shut so she cannot make trouble as he is going to go inside and look for her cat Tozzi. He wants her to see he isn’t all that bad. In the meantime, Simón grabs a rock and tries to break the lock.

Francesco enters the house and runs into Batman. He wonders why he isn’t out looking for Sofía. Batman thinks somebody should be at the house in case Sofía comes back. Francesco tells him that Teresa was in the house and saw the drawing and wonders if Batman had something to do with it. Batman says it wasn’t him. He knows the price that traitors pay. Francesco goes looking for the cat he says that he wants to use to help catch Sofía. The cat is not cooperative as he tries to capture it.

Teresa arrives. Batman tells her that he warned her not to come there as Francesco listens in while hiding from her. She asks if he thought about the proposal she made him. He’ll talk to her about it but not there. He tries to get her to leave with him saying that they cannot risk Epifanio or Alejandro coming in and finding them. She wants to talk about Alejandro who she blames for kidnapping her daughter.

As Simón exchanges his rock for a metal bar and gets back to work on the lock, Sofía tries to free herself inside the truck.

Batman says he and Teresa are not friends and he is no snitch. Teresa notices where Batman keeps glancing and goes to see what he is looking at. Francesco manages to hide above the doorway. After Batman dares to touch Teresa to turn her around, her bodyguard appears. Batman warns her again of the danger in coming there. Teresa tells him about having seen Sofía in the subway. Teresa has people looking all over for her daughter.“Colorín colorado, el secuestro ha acabado”. Epifanio won’t be president and Batman will be like a burro without reins. She just wants to find her daughter and go back to Italy. She tells Batman he smells like death being at Epifanio’s side. Batman says he will think about her offer but since his kids were not lost in the subway but were killed along with his wife nothing really matters to him any more. He is not afraid of death but hasn’t had the guts to shoot himself but maybe one day he will wake up brave enough to do it. Teresa offers her condolences but her daughter is alive and she will set all of Mexico ablaze to find her.

Thank you Urban. I really appreciate your clearly written enjoyable recaps. I am enjoying this more than I thought I would. Jorge is really good with the comedy. There are a lot of characters but I am beginning to get them sorted out.

La Reina del Sur 2 Wednesday 5/22 Parte 2

Teresa sees a missing cat poster and sees it as a lucky sign since Sofía had a cat in Italy.

As Simón tries to open the truck a group of people form trying to find out what he is doing. As Francesco tries to get back to the truck, Simón holds the group back threatening them with the crow bar. He tries to explain his friend is being held captive and it would be best for them to call the police. Unfortunately, Francesco arrives and in spite of Simón telling the crowd about Francesco being a pervert and Sofía inside the truck being taken by human traffickers, Francesco has no problem with driving away. Simón jumps on the back of the truck again.

Francesco drives the truck to an isolated yard and manages to trap poor Simón like a rat in a trap in the truck as he is untying Sofía to try to escape. Sofía explains to Simón that Fernando is not a sexual abuser but is her kidnapper. He brought her form Italy to Mexico. The truck is moving again but soon stops in a garage. In a bit, Francesco brings the kids some pizza and takes a photo of Sofía.

Jonathan informs Willy about the file being encrypted, it being a DEA operations file and about the photos of Teresa and Sofía. They need one of their guys to decrypt the whole file. Willy has somebody in mind for the job and tells Jonathan to send him the file encrypted as it is. Teresa arrives on the scene with no news of Sofía. Willy tells Teresa he is about to retire and would like to help find Sofía by going to work for her. She still doesn’t trust him 100% and she needs loyalty above all else. She asks what is it that he is not telling her. He says Epifanio isn’t going to leave her alone even if she finds Sofía. He wants her to destroy Zurdo Villa. Willy has all of the info she needs and could be her best ally.

In Culiacán, Zurdo tells Faustino that Teresa is nack. He found out from Siso Pernas. Zurdo wants Faustino to go bring Teresa to him. Zurdo tells a reluctant Faustino to just contact her and he will take care of the rest. Faustino warns Zurdo that if Teresa is back there must be some reason for her being back.

La Reina del Sur 2 Wednesday 5/22 Parte 3

Epifanio is upset that Genoveva is not answering his calls. Alejandro tells him to give it a rest already. His sister needs some space and time. Epifanio could not care less. Epifanio gets a call from Lupo and doesn’t feel like answering it.

Carmen tells Father Anselmo all about Epifanio and Genoveva and how she is the daughter of the governor of Sinaloa. Father Anselmo’s advice to Carmen is to tell the press everything she knows about her husband and when he is totally broken by the scandal, he will come back to her. She can be his salvation, Carmen likes that idea and decides that she will tell everybody the truth about Epifanio.

At the safe house, Paloma and Rocío spy on Ray in the shower and get caught by Willy and then Ray. Willy tells him he is just like his uncle El Güero who drove all of the girls crazy. Willie tells him about he encrypted file he needs opened.

Back at the truck, Francesco has a wad of cash for Simón to stay clear of Mercedes and to leave town and start fresh somewhere. He warns him not to go back to his place in the subway because if the people looking for Sofía were to find him, it could get real ugly for him. Simón and Sofía sadly say goodbye to each other.

Teresa is tormenting herself listening to the phone call from Sofía over one more time. Oleg tries to make her understand that she didn’t lie to Sofía but was trying to protect her little girl from the truth. Teresa can’t get beyond the truth being that she killed Sofía’s father. Oleg tells her all of the guys are ready. Teresa tells him Willy wants to work with them but she is not so sure. Oleg mentions again that he trusts Willy more than Francesco. Epifanio calls and wants to see her but not at his house. It seems everyone knows she is back. She wants to know how everyone knows. Who mows? He will send her the location of their meeting. Oleg decides he will go with her to the meeting.

Francesco talks with Sofía about how she is feeling and she tells him about killing Morgana so she is now a killer just like her mother. As a matter of fact she knows all about her mother after researching her in the internet. Francesco tries to convince her that not all is true on on the internet and that she needs to talk to her mother but Sofía is not buying it. Their conversation is interrupted by a call from Teresa. Francesco asks Terrsa if they have found Sofía and remarks that Epifanio may have good news about her daughter. He tells her to be careful with Epifanio and asks if she needs any help. After talking to Epifanio she is going to meet with the guys that are going to help her find her daughter. She asks if he would like to join them. (Oleg gives her a much deserved stink eye.) Sorry but Francesco has a work dinner tonight and cannot make it. Tomorrow morning he will call her good and early and go with her wherever she needs to go. She can count on him! (Oleg gives her another stink eye). After the conversation, Francesco consoles a very upset Sofía who feels like she is all alone in the world. Francesco promises her that nothing bad will happen to her because he is there. She hugs him and thanks him for saving her and having such a big heart.

Back at the safe house, Ray is working on opening the file for Willy. He manages to open the military level encrypted file and all of these photos of Teresa and Sofía come up again. As Ray tries to access more information beyond the photos, there is a problem . . . the file starts to self destruct and is gone in an instant. Manuela looks at the open file on her laptop, breathes a sight of relief and smiles. She draws a big X over a photo of Teresa and it disappears.

La Reina 2

At this time, I am wondering what Francesco’s story is. Anyway, more later.

reina-sur2

Thanks VERY much, Jarifa, for this superb recap. You captured it all!

I was somewhat worried when Francesco overheard the conversation between Batman and Teresa, especially when she asks him whether he's thought more about the offer she made him. He does a pretty skillful job of responding, but I suspect Francesco's suspicions were aroused. Then again, who knows where Francesco's sympathies really lie. Like you, I wonder what his backstory is.

I was moved by the farewell scene between Simón and Sofia, especially when he tells her that meeting her was the happiest thing that ever happened to him. They swear to be "friends forever." I hope we'll see more of him.

I loved your saying that when Teresa invites Francesco to join the others in helping to find Sofia, "Oleg gives her a much deserved stink eye." Perfect. It was interesting that when Oleg tells Teresa that he trusts Willy more than he trusts Francesco, he adds that he's protecting Teresa like a sister. Hmmm....

Reina 2

wow, love your recaps Jarifa!

yep the girls are peeking at Ray, later Paloma says to Rocio, I didn't think he was your type, and what type would that be, you know vampires, bad boys, Rocio comes back with, like Juan.

Love Simon.

wow, Lupo got an earful when Teresa arrived at the safe house, but he left over the roof without confronting Batman, will he turn him out or use him, Lupo is so smart.

Stockholm syndrome, is what Oleg mentioned earlier as Sofia's attraction to her capturers.

is the long trip for Sofia to Culiacan, Jarifa, you mentioned Zurdo was there, I didn't know that, interesting, and I love listening to Faustino talk.

I don't think Teresa was tormenting her self with Sofia's video, more that she was trying to get into Sofia's head for a response, she knows Sofia, and that she will not except any explanation.

Fantastic recap, Jarifa! Such a pleasure to read this morning.

Hiding from Teresa, Lupo looked like a bat, instead of Batman. I'm going with Lupo instead of Francesco to save keystrokes!

Yes, Lupo's actions are a mystery. The photo he took of Sofía was with a newspaper in front of her, likely with that day's date on it. A classic kidnapping proof of life and/or still having the victim. He STILL hasn't told Epifanio he's recaptured her. And he's obviously fond of her.

It occurred to me he could be planning to give (sell) her to Cayetana instead, but what would be the point of the newspaper in the picture. Plus they've shown no further interaction between Cayetana and Lupo. And, we probably must assume, he has no idea she wants the child.

IIRC Teresa said that, if Sofía experienced any harm, she would burn down all of Mexico.

Padre Anselmo sigue cavando su propia tumba (keeps on digging his own grave).

Gracias, Mely. I've only been waiting four years for Jorge Salinas to have a new series. I wish it were a drama instead but I will settle for this. It does have a good cast, though. Raul Coronado is excellent as this jerk, Elvis.

La Reina 2

Thanks, all, for stopping by! It is a busy day today. Should be another good one tonight.
