I can't do a recap tonight; tomorrow should be OK

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep 9 – Quick and Dirty Part I

Catalina brought out a suitcase and told Antonio he could come back later for the rest of his things. She told him he had some nerve trying to make their children work when they are going to school and treating them like delinquents. She told him to bring them back to normal or leave. He told her it was his house, too and she said she wanted a divorce.

Elvis continued to tell Elena he was not interested, especially since she is the younger sister of the woman he wanted to marry. [Sounds reasonable enough] She persisted, asking for one last chance.

Javier compounded the lie to Madonna by saying that his mother worked in (their) house. That she hasd worked there a long time and thus he was like one of the family. He apologized to her, gave her a flower, and said goodbye. She stopped him walking away and said she liked him.

Catalina insisted that she and Antonio were no longer on the same page and now demanded alimony in keeping with the standard of living she had become accustomed to. She threatened to talk to a lawyer. He told her that this project would benefit their family and she would see that in the future.

Francisco complimented Julieta on her work, saying she had her mother's talent. She has dreamed of a bigger business and was thinking of registering her brand as a beginning. Elena came through, saying she was going to the gym to take advantage of a promotion and that she would help out later.

Javier shouted his love for Madonna to the entire park, which embarassed the hell out of her. She said she dug him, too, but hates lies.

A couple of Vivi's classmates asked about the rumors of her family's financial problems. She said that gossip is unimportant but did not say much else. Johnny showed up shooting photos of her and tried to get her to come home. He had talked to Beto, which interested her. But she interests him and the feeling looked more mutual than she knew.

Eduardo reported the income from the garage sale to Antonio, who expressed pride in the result. He gave him some of the money, then asked him to talk to Vivi. He agreed.

Vivi told Johnny he was moving too fast. He tried to justify it by saying it by saying love was wild and crazy. He then did something similar to what Javier did and asked her to be his girlfriend. She said Yes and they kissed. [Here is something Antonio and Catalina will likely agree about.]

Madonna told Julieta she was sorry about what happened with her and Elvis and embarassed that her mother was in feud mode. Julieta was sure that Gregoria would get over it. She confided that she was in love with someone other than Tomás.

Elena met Elvis, who still considers Julieta to be his novia. He blamed Elena for the breakup. She virtually begged for a second chance which he did not grant. [She needs a lesson about dignity.]

Lupita ended a phone conversation with a lawyer and told Catalina to forget about divorce. She would get her rightful percentage of.... a cab driver's salary. Catalina said she was sick of Antonio and his madnesses. Lupita left the room and Catalina called Mauricio Riva Palacio (the hot doc) saying she had to see him.

Vivi finally had a good workday, but she wrecked it for Beto by telling him that she and Johnny were an item.

Catalina was cutting up onions and hating every second of it. Antonio came home and talked about delicious aromas, which did nothing for her. He handed her the envelope of money and reminded her that when they were first married they had nothing except a small apartment and each other but they were happy. She argued that to progress is normal.

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep 9 – Quick and Dirty Part II

Eduardo called Vivi to try to convince her to come home. She refused. She knew nothing about the garage sale and Eduardo ended the call when she asked whether they had sold any of her stuff.

Antonio agreed, but did not approve of how materialistic their children had become. Catalina ignored this and said that he would have to agree with her new rules. He's banished from her bed.

Elena came home looking sad and said she was going to bed. Francisco realized that it was a matter of the heart.

Antonio gave out some of the money from the garage sale and sat down to eat. Javier commented on how much less food there was and Catalina complained about the food budget allotment. Vivi came in, accusing the rest of the family of selling her stuff without her consent. He gave her some money and told her not to be disrespectful. She went upstairs. Antonio told her to come back, Catalina followed her, and the boys asked about whether they were going to divorce.

Elvis discussed Elena with Elton, who said he would be lucky to have the same suegro. Elvis pointed out why that wouldn't be so great and Gregoria showed up, having overheard at least some of this. She didn't want to hear any of their names mentioned. Elton tried another lie, which annoyed Elvis. A bunch of red gladiolas was delivered. She lied, saying it was from a client who bought something expensive. Elvis looked like he doubted that.

Julieta tried to get Elena to talk. No go.

Javier and Eduardo went up to Vivi's room; she was still stubborn about all this. The boys warned her that their parents might divorce and she didn't care. Antonio came up to talk to her only to hear she never wants to see him again. Catalina came in and blamed Antonio for Vivi leaving and before anyone else could answer these charges Lety, Mateo, and their kids arrived with suitcases.

Johnny came back and advised Vivi to come back home. He did not succeed but she is certainly not angry with him.

Antonio told Lety she and her family could move into the servants' quarters. She didn't like this,so Catalina told her that they could go sleep in the park.

Gregoria told Francisco that she threw his flowers in the trash and threatened him with a restraining order. She got insulting, but he was just amused. And no, she didn't throw the flowers away.

Elvis went out clubbing with his bros but wasn't having a good time.

Johnny actually suggested that he and Vivi live together. She was incredulous. Beto arrived and Johnny took his leave. Weird vibes all around. Beto kept his cool.

Tomás met Madonna in the park to tell him off about Javier. She then broke up with him, which he would not accept at first. He finally walked away.

Catalina whined to Mauricio and he said they could talk later abut a solution.

Antonio talked to Julieta and they agreed to meet the next day.

Gregoria was not pleased that Madonna broke up with Tomás or the reason she thought she did. Madonna texted Javier to meet the next day.

Two attractive girls came on to Elvis on the dance floor. A third one appeared.

Eduardo came on to Azucena and was caught by Lupita.

Madonna and Javier met in the park. Love poems were read, leading to besos.

Antonio and Julieta metand drove away in his cab with Francisco yelling her name as they pulled out.

Part 1 of 2

I don't have time to write a real recap, but here are some of the things that happened in tonight's (Thursday's) episode.

Cayetana is totally obsessed with her dead son. She sees him in her mind playing the piano, and he talks to her. She caresses the piano.

Epifanio shows Teresa a photo of Sofia. In the photo is a newspaper with today's date. Teresa wants to know where Sofia is. Epifanio tells her that Sofia is well, and Teresa should be happy that Epifanio found her first, because if Teresa had found her, Sofia would have spit in her face. Teresa says sooner or later, Sofia will understand. Don't be so sure, replies Epifanio, especially since you killed her father.

Lupo tells Sofia that she'll have a long trip tomorrow. She asks where they're going, but he won't tell her. She's unhappy that she doesn't have the cat, Tozzi, with her. She'd like Lupo to go back and get her. Lupo tells her the cat doesn't even belong to her. Lupo gets a call. Sofia sees that the person who called is Cayetana Aljarafe.

Cayetana meets with her lawyer. He tells her that he has submitted to the court the papers for her to get custody of Sofia. Now they have to wait until the court accepts her argument, and then Teresa will have a chance to reply. The lawyer says this could be a problem, because they have no address for Teresa. Cayetana says she'll find one. After the lawyer leaves, Cayetana tells Charo that she feels much better, the lawyer has restored her hopes.

Sofia asks Lupo whether he knows her grandmother, Cayetana Aljarafe. Batman arrives and the conversation ends. Lupo and Batman then talk privately. Lupo accuses Batman of working for Teresa, he overheard the conversation between Batman and Teresa. Batman says Teresa would love it if he'd work for her, but he won't do that. Lupo warns Batman that if he slips up and reveals his identity to Teresa, he (Lupo) will kill him.

Oleg has accompanied Teresa to her meeting with Epifanio. Teresa tells him she wants to be by herself in order to think. Oleg isn't happy but agrees to leave. He'll go back to where they're staying and stay awake waiting for her.

Alejandro reports to Epifanio that Lupo doesn't want to handle the Padre Anselmo problem. However, he (Alejandro) has thought of another way to deal with it. "Don't tell me," says Epifanio. "Just take care of it and I'll read about it in the newspaper tomorrow." Epifanio also tells Alejandro, "I'd make Teresa Mendoza my campaign manager if I didn't want her dead." Epi then leaves. Alejandro gets a call from someone telling him that they have an issue that must be resolved immediately.

Teresa wanders around by herself, remembering Sofia's angry call informing Teresa that she knows who Teresa really is and that she killed her father. Lupo appears, and Teresa thanks him for coming to see her. Lupo tells her she needs a hug.

Back in Mexico City, Jimena tells her mother, Veva, that she's going to study with a friend. Her grandmother, Carmen, comes down the stairs dressed in a pink suit. Jimena asks whether she has a date. Carmen says she has a very important appointment. Jimena is about to leave. She tells Carmen that she has to study with a friend for an exam in Professor Alcana's course. Carmen blurts out, "She's a zorra (slut, whore). She's your grandfather's lover. Tell her that you're the granddaughter of her lover's wife, who sends her regards."

Part 2 of 2

Teresa tells Lupo that Sofia knows everything about her past, including Teresa's having killed Sofia's father. Lupo tells her that her past won't change his opinion of her. Moreover, "I'm not one to judge you or ask for explanations." They talk more about Sofia. Lupo says she's smart and stubborn and reminds him of his daugher. He hopes someday the two of them will meet.
Teresa apologizes for not asking about Lupo. He says there's not much to tell. His mother abandoned him, and he lived in a series of orphanages until he was 16.

Batman and Sofia eat. Batman leaves and tells her to go upstairs and get ready for bed. As soon as he is gone, Sofia retrieves Lupo's phone, which she had spotted earlier. She then goes upstairs, locks the door, and calls Cayetana (whose call to Lupo is on the phone's screen). She calls her abuela and tells her she knew nothing about her until she learned about her from the Internet. Sofia mentions "Lupo" and "Francesco Belmondo," but Cayetana says she doesn't know anyone by those names. Sofia asks whether it's true that her mother did something bad to her father. Yes, replies Cayetana, she killed him when she was pregnant with you and threw his body into the sea to rot until someone found it. Cayetana tells Sophia "I then hired a private detective, who found you." "That's why I was kidnapped," says Sophia. Cayetana expresses immense regret for that and says she's doing everything she can to have Sofia come live with her in Spain. "You're not alone. You are Sofia Aljarafe. Your father was Teo Aljarafe and your grandmother is Cayetana Aljarafe. We're a family. You will be here by my side." Batman yells up to Sofia, and so she ends the call. Cayetana tells Charo that she's feeling much happier. "Sofia will bury her mother." Charo asks whether what she feels is revenge or does she feel warmly toward Sofia. Cayetana says, "Let's say I'm killing two birds with one stone" (Mato dos pájaros de un tiro).

Teresa thanks Lupo for listening to her. Lupo tells her life is better when he's with her. Teresa tells him that there's something mysterious about him that is attractive to her. They say a lot more, but someone else will have to supply that. I'm running out of steam.

Carmen appears on Marietta's program and introduces herself as Carmen Martinez, the wife of presidential candidate Epifanio Vargas.

Teresa and Lupo do the deed, accompanied by some forceful operatic music.

La Reina 2

Thanks, Juanita, this sure looks like a real recap to me and a very fine one at that! I have yet to watch this. I am sure I will have something to say when I do. : )

La Reina 2

I have to give Telemundo a world of credit for making La Reina 2 as available as it is. They show it twice (here at nine and midnight) and last night’s episode was already on my Comcast OnDemand at 5:30 a.m. when I got up. (Univision could take a lesson from them on timely episode posting OnDemand.) Then there have been the weekend “movies”. Nice!

La Reina 2

The first scenes at Cayetana’s house were beautifully imagined and photographed.

Hmmmm . . . Teresa and Francesco get all involved in a “parachute jump” metaphor and he says he doesn’t want to be her “jump”, the “emptiness” or parachute. He just wants to be the adrenaline that gets her heart beating faster to remind her they are still alive so she can be his parachute and save him before he crashes to the ground. Okay . . . I still want Francesco’s whole story besides the orphan tale.

I have to say I did enjoy Carmen beating Epifanio to the punch so to say . . . on national tv.

La Reina 2

Novelera, Blockhead, Juanita, Jarifa, thanks for terrific recaps. I'm lagging behind, but please know the recaps are indispensable for keeping up with all the twists and turns and folks' motivations.

Loved seeing Sofia transferring her flag waving skills to earn money on the street. Pleasantly surprised to see Eduardo Yañez has a role in this TN. Frustrated that Teresa has do spidey senses regarding Lupo. Still hoping Batman finds redemption. Still getting a kick out of Epifanio’s hubris and narcissism. Cayetana means Sofia no good, but I can’t help but think grandma will be charmed by her enchanting granddaughter when they connect and her heart may soften toward her (of course, that would make grandma want to kill Teresa even more).

Niecie, great to see you on the patio!

reina-sur2

Juanita, you're the best! Thanks so much for the, yes, RECAP!

Also enjoy hearing from Niecie. LRDS brings the Uni folks for a visit.

Lupo has a daughter? I don't remember that. When he was telling Teresa a bit about his life I kept expecting him to go on to the part where he's in the military.

I was cringing on the sofa when Cayetana cruelly amplified how Teresa killed Teo to Sofía. The woman is toxic. Charo knows her well. I also wonder if she wants Sofía only to hurt Teresa and could care less about the child. She also refused to pick up the phone thinking the granddaughter was either Paloma or Rocío. I simply can't fathom cutting off completely a granddaughter. I adore mine!

As others here have said, Batman is a pleasure in every scene he's in. Sofía is definitely comfortable with him, realizing he's not going to hurt her. His comments about the palillos (chopsticks) were definite comic relief.

I am disappointed in the writers for having Teresa and Lupo get it on. It feels like Teo 2.0 to me. Another man she's sleeping with betrays her. But there was so much sexual tension between them that I suppose it was inevitable.

So, I suppose another part of making Lupo a partly good/partly bad character was his refusal to kill a priest.

I'll be interested to see how Epifanio wiggles out of the dilemma of having a wife he never acknowledged in his pubic life show up on a talk show. He still needs to be a somewhat viable candidate for his plot to work of having Teresa get rid of Zurdo Villa, who is financing the other candidate for president.

Many thanks to Jarifa, Niecie in MD, and novelera for your comments.

Jarifa, thanks very much for adding the "parachute" conversation between Teresa and FB (even shorter to write than "Lupo"). I was very tired last night and just wanted to finish up and get to bed. And yes, I guess it did turn out to be a recap, though I was trying my best at the start to make it just a list. Sigh.

Niecie, great point about the danger of Cayetana coming to truly care about Sofia. I think it's quite possible that she might, and/but as you point out, that will make her even more determined (if that's possible) to kill Teresa.

novelera, FB's mention of a daughter was news to me, too. Apparently there's a LOT we don't yet know about him. And I too was cringing when Cayetana laid it on thick about Teresa's treatment of Teo, including the lie about her being after his money. I wonder whether Cayetana believes that. My guess is that she's simply saying whatever will alienate Sofia most from her mother. However, Cayetana is so obsessed with Teo that she may even believe Teresa killed him for his money rather than because he betrayed her bigtime. As for Epifanio, I can't wait until we see what happens tonight. It sure seemed in Thursday's episode that Carmen has doomed his presidential hopes, but as you point out, somehow he's got to wriggle out of Carmen's testimony in order for the Zurdo Villa plot to advance.

La Reina 2

terrific recap Juanita! you really brought out a lot of depth in the story.

and the story does have a lot of depth, the short scenes are intense.

Lupo, who sweet talks both Sofia and Teresa, has given her photo and the story that she knows all on Teresa to Epi and will probably be driving Sofia to he new jail house in Culiacan in the morning, all the while playing innocent to Teresa, wow, Teo2, (ah novelera, we agree).

and Oleg will be waiting up for his Tesa.

and Teresa submits to Epi, she will also be leaving for Sinaloa in the morning, Batman assigned to assist, how clever of him to put Sofia in the same place, his not caring whether he lives or dies may actually be keeping him alive, but I think he has adopted Sofia, as a reason to live.

hmm, Epi has now met Oleg, but he doesn't know the rest of the crew, I wonder if they all will go with Teresa, including the girls, and Willy doesn't seem to be going away.

Cayetana sure is a bitter old hag, her flashbacks are bright and colorful, her current scenes are dark, I wonder if/how Sofia will meet her sisters, and if Simon will follow, he's probably out side in a rented car with a booster seat.

La Reina 2

great comments all!

I was surprised with Carmen's interview, I thought she agreed with the priest to tell all about Epi, for his redemption in order to bring him back to the church, so to speak, apparently the Padre likes his money, and lives very well according to Jimena.

but Carmen seems to be only going with that she is his lawful wife.

deb, love your comment about Simón. I can picture him!

reina-sur2

deb, wonderful comments. I love not only how insightful they are but how delightfully worded. This time, like Jarifa, I was especially taken with your remark about Simón. In fact, when I read it, I burst out laughing.

I suspect that the rest of Teresa's team will follow her to Sinaloa. IIRC, Willy said that his mother was from Sinaloa. I wonder whether she's still alive and still living there. Her house might provide a good place for the team to stay. I think Willy is very strongly motivated to help Teresa bring down Epifanio (again). For one thing, Epifanio was responsible for el Güero's death, and el Güero was secretly working for Willy. Moreover, I think Willy, like just about every other man who encounters Teresa, is enamored of her. Also, the cast of characters who make up Teresa's team are simply too much fun to have the writers abandon them at this point. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if two others from the season 1 team, Alberto and Dr. Ramos, make an appearance at some point.

reina-sur2

I'll put up a recap tonight.

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep 10 – Quick and Dirty Part I

Elena heard her father's voice calling Julieta and tried to get him to calm down.

Javier tried to get Madonna to promise to make it forever and she said it wasn't time for that.

Lupita confronted Eduardo and Azucena and Azucena said she would leave. Lupita scolded both of them and said to forget their attraction. Eduardo took the blame and persuaded Azucena to stay.

Catalina met Mauricio at a café and immediately began venting, finally telling him that she no longer slept with Antonio. He said he would marry her and take care of her if she divorced Antonio so she wouldn't have to worry about alimony. Catalina was surprised, as Mauricio is also married. He gave her his lawyer's business card. She looked apprehensive.

Eduardo tried to explain his actions to Lupita but she wasn't fooled. He promised this would not happen again.

Antonio drove Julieta to the airport. Francisco tried to call her but she did not answer. Elena tried to convince him that nothing improper was going on and that Antonio was helping her launch her fashion line.

Julieta saw a poster with the Eiffel Tower and talked about wanting to go to France. Antonio began talking about how romantic Paris is. He got a little carried away and almost kissed her. They caught themselves in time, promising each other this would not happen.

Elvis woke up saying Julieta's name.... with the three chicas from the night before in his bed. They all wanted to know who Julieta was. He was shocked and had no memory of how they got there.

Vivi was doing better at work, but was still not interested in reconciling with her father. Eduardo arrived late with an excuse.

Antonio helped Julieta carry in the shipment she picked up. Francisco was not happy to see him and would not listen to any explanation.

Javier and Madonna went to the movies to see a version of Romeo and Juliet [possibly the Zefferelli version]. Tomás' message came in and spoiled the mood.

Elvis was walking when he saw two of the chicas from the night before. He took out his cell and pretended to talk to someone. They flirted with him anyway only to provoke the jealousy of Elena, who saw this.

Francisco and Julieta had the same conversation they always hav about his disapproval of her associating with Antonio.

Elvis blamed Fonsi for getting him into this situation. He was prepared to give him money to leave town. Elena came over to see what was going on. Fonsi escaped leaving Elena to interrogate Elvis about his foursome.

Un Poquito Tuyo, Ep 10 – Quick and Dirty Part II

Antonio thought about Julieta while driving back. Catalina called to tell him to leave the house if he didn't want her to end up in prison.

Javier and Madonna left the movie theatre and went their separate ways so Tomás wouldn't see them together. Turns out they cut class to go to the movies.

Catalina called Erick to get him to come over to do their laundry but didn't have the dinero to pay. She called Mauricio to borrow some but he said he wasn't financing her life with Antonio. To get anything from him she would need to get a divorce.

Antonio went to the cafe to see Vivi. She started to cry but otherwise no progress. Johnny arrived and offered to take her “home.”

Catalina still pretended that the garage sale was for charity when talking to Pepa over the phone. More of the same for a while.

Elvis showed up at Julieta's shop wanting to talk to her. When they sat down in a cafe [different one] he told her about the foursome as a pre-emptive strike against gossip. She wasn't interested. She told him she was in love with someone else. He got annoyed and left.

Mateo suggested to Lety that they move in with his mother. She categorically refused. She seemed to have an idea. She had him call his boss. He did... and got fired.

Eduardo texted one of the girls to make time. Beto was not pleased with his behavior.

Francisco went into Gregoria's store on the pretext of buying her a gift. He did get Elton to admit she liked gladiolas.

Lety came to Catalina for help because of Mateo losing his job. She refused.

Tomás went to see Gregoria to offer help to get rid of Javier. Madonna arrived in time to hear this. Tomás left and Madonna told her mother off.

Eduardo drove Violeta to campus and asked her to be his girlfriend... just as Azucena texted him. He lied, saying it was Beto. Later he made the same pitch to Azucena. [He must have seen that silly Tony Curtis movie from the 60s.]

Antonio came home and Mateo tried to tell him he was fired for being late to work because his wife was ill. Antonio wasn't fooled and told him to put his big boy pants on. He then got a call about Javier not having been in school. He called Javier and told him to come home at once. Javier lied to Gregoria, telling her his mother had an accident at home.

Elvis went onto a rooftop to throw himself off. His bros went up after him. Fonsi took out his cell.

Javier walked home and then saw that Tomás was following him.

Julieta texted Antonio, apologizing for her father's behavior. Catalina came in with a document she found in his car, demanding an explanation.

LA REINA DEL SUR 2 – VIERNES – Parte 1 de 3

Ciudad de México

Epifanio is leaning on Genoveva’s doorbell and we see him with a bouquet of pink roses. He calls her “Bebita, mi amor” and says he has to explain. Surely she won’t leave him out in the hallway like a stray dog. Cold as ice, she opens up. Veva: “I thought I could spot a liar, but you…” Her phone rings. It’s her producer. Look of shock on her face. She runs into a room with a television, Epifanio at her heels, and sees Carmen with Marietta Lancaster.

Carmen is in the middle of blathering on about her beautiful wedding, the best ever seen in Culiacán. Marietta gently asks her why the marriage was kept secret all these years. Carmen says that her husband likes to keep his private life private. [!!}

The young campaign apparatchik, coming unglued, races into Alejandro’s office asking him if he knew about Carmen.

Back to the interview. Carmen goes on to rave about Vargas’ family values. Eyes glowing, she says her husband will change the country, inspire the youth of Mexico.

We see Padre Anselmo, watching the interview and gulping down red wine. It appears he’s given her the script because he says the words right along with Carmen, lots of them featuring religion and the sacrament of marriage. Someone comes into the priest’s study and shoots him in the head.

Apparently Teresa and Francesco have had such hot sex that they don’t seem to notice that they’re lying on a stone platform near a Mayan pyramid having their post-coital chat. In the close-ups we can see that FB’s stylish stubble is a bit too thick to be attractive (at least to me).

Teresa tells FB that he knows way more about her than she does about him. We see that 1,000 yard Italian stare. Then he says that he wants to take her to Sinaloa. She tells him that’s crazy. Sinaloa is a war zone and not a place for European tourists. [She has NO clue what she’s dealing with here.]

She finally agrees to let him take her, but says he has to disappear when they get there and stay disappeared until she completes the task at hand. She tells him there’s eyes everywhere in Sinaloa, and someone might try to dar en la madre (get at her by killing someone she cares about).

At the television studio Marietta asks Carmen about the rumors of Epifanio having a lover. Carmen insists this is the work of political rivals and swears that Epifanio, in all the years of their marriage, has never fallen into temptation. [There is a mass pausing of televisions in Viewerville as we try not to lose our dinners.]

LA REINA DEL SUR 2 – VIERNES – Parte 2 de 3

At Vargas Campaign Headquarters Alejandro completely loses it. He trashes his office, screams at the campaign flunky and then roars at the whole staff to get back to work.

Bebita stares at Epifanio as his Pinocchio nose grows before her very eyes. He says that Carmen is just some woman obsessed with him; he’ll sue her. He finally realizes she’s done when she says she won’t even vote for him in the election. He slinks out.

Teresa tells Lupo that life has kicked her heart so many times that she finds it hard to believe a romance won’t turn out chueco (screwed up). She finally says that her priority is getting her daughter back; after that, they’ll see.

Málaga

We see Cayetana, all spruced up, leaving. Charo is worried about her not eating enough. The phone rings. It’s Rocío calling from Mexico. But Charo tells Cayetana it’s her sister. Both girls talk to Charo, and Paloma tells her that she’s pregnant by Juanito.

Then we see that Cayetana didn’t buy Charo’s lie about who was on the phone. She’s on the extension and tells Paloma that she’s mixed her (Cayetana’s) blood with that gentuza (riff-raff, low lives). Rocío comes on the line; she’s tougher than her sister. But Cayetana tells her they won’t get to talk with Charo again. After hanging up, she slaps the loyal Charo across the face. [I sincerely hopes this ends up biting her in the hindquarters.]

Carmen comes home exultant. She’s telling her daughter, Virginia, about her triumph. Then Virginia points out the mass of reporters and TV vans outside her house. Just then Epifanio arrives and pushes through the mob.

Teresa comes home. Oleg knows what’s going on. He’s stone faced. He maintains that he doesn’t trust Francesco Belmondo. He goes on to say he’s been proven right in the past. Teresa tries to mollify him, telling him how much she values him, that he’s like a brother to her. But the real blow to Oleg is when she tells him FB is driving her to Culiacán.

Carmen tells Epifanio that, yes, she thoroughly enjoyed her time on television. He tells her he hopes her 15 minutes of fame will console her. He shouts that their marriage was only a business deal between her father and him. [Well, there are two children as a result of this “business deal”.] He goes on to say that ese changarro está cerrado. [This store is now closed.] He tells her she should be kissing his feet. He got her out of the house. She was a virgin, after all. He’s given her a lot.

Carmen makes a long, interesting analogy. She reminds him how he loved her mole. Her mother taught her to make it. It takes a long time and requires 22 ingredients. The key to this is patience. She says that her patience will result in her being First Lady of Mexico. Epifanio tells her that she has yet to see the worst of him. He says part of the dicho…cuando te toca ni aunque te quites…. [When it’s your fate, you can’t avoid it. This is a bit ominous.]

LA REINA DEL SUR 2 – VIERNES – Parte 3 de 3

At the D.F. safe house Sheila still thinks she’s in South America. Conejo teases her about the mistake and says Sheila should try reading a book. Sheila responds that she has “emotional intelligence”. Teresa comes home and, apparently, they take one look at her and can see what she’s been doing. There's a nice girlfriend vibe here, and I'm happy Teresa has these friends.

We see Lupo driving somewhere in the rain and then jumping over a wall.

Carmen has come to confession and then discovers that the priest on the other side of the booth (Padre Anselmo) is dead.

Alejandro calls his sister, Genoveva, and wants to have breakfast with her. But she says she has a class that morning. And then she’s going to Culiacán [!] to see her father (the Governor).

While Alejandro is speaking to his sister, the person who killed Padre Anselmo comes in and hands him the gun, wrapped in a napkin. This is a very slight person…a woman?

Sofía wakes up in the warehouse to find Tozzi in bed with her. [So this is what the leap over the wall by Lupo was about.]

Lupo gives Batman instructions. Batman is to drive Sofía to Culiacán, but to pick other places besides gas stations for a bathroom break for her. Batman thought he was flying and Lupo bringing the girl. But Lupo, very coldly, says he has to control what Teresa and her allies are doing. Batman, astute as always, thinks Lupo is falling for Teresa.

Jimina, Carmen’s granddaughter is completing a test in her journalism class. When she hands it in she tells Genoveva her name is Vargas and makes a cutting comment about her teacher having interviewed Vargas while she was his lover. She mentions a lack of journalistic objectivity.

Carmen arrives once more at Epifanios’s big house. When he doesn’t want to let her in, she tells him she’ll tell the press throng there that he’s involved with the death of Padre Anselmo.

I never tire of your wonderful recaps novelera, and it was a gripping story.

"nothing here" was the tattoo on Lupo's chest, his heart was ripped out he says, but we don't hear the story, only his look of despair and the need for Teresa to love him.

love the Mayan setting, it was rumored they filmed in Belize.

yes, Oleg loves Teresa, but he is a by-the-book guy, there is a house full of people that are putting their lives on the line, and Tesa is wobbling.

while hunting down the tattoo, I re saw the Padre hitman scene, yes novelera, leggings, and where was Jimena?

novelera, I always love your recaps, which I've described as wonderful, excellent, superb, terrific, etc. But this one is even better!! It was complete, clear, interesting, with a bit of snark, and some very useful Spanish (I especially appreciated dar en la madre). ¡Muchísimas gracias!

I was a bit confused by Padre Anselmo's death. As you say, he seems to have been killed in his study as he's watching Carmen say her lines on TV. But Carmen discovers his body the next morning in the confessional. It seems highly unlikely that the murderer would have risked discovery by transporting the corpse to the confessional. ???

I can't remember when Teresa seemed as clueless as she is right now.

Epifanio and Carmen both had growing Pinocchio noses in this episode. I find myself imagining them battling each other using their noses as swords.

Thank you, novelera. I loved your recap. “There is a mass pausing of televisions in Viewerville . . .” had me smiling.

Yes, the place to be is Culiacán. It will be interesting to see them all on the Governor’s turf. I wonder if he is as squeaky clean as he professes to be. . .

“. . . . there is a house full of people putting their lives on the line and Tesa is wobbling.” deb, you put it perfectly. I am finding Teresa annoying for the first time ever. She is being delivered to Culiacán like a stupid turkey on a platter. Sorry, but I couldn’t resist. I hope nobody on her crew ends up dead because of her trusting Francesco. They must call him Lupo for a reason.

Juanita, I do not think that the transporter of Padre Anselmo was necessarily the murderer and probably would have shot anyone who would have had the misfortune of seeing them. It sure looks like a woman shot Anselmo. Thanks for the funny image of Epi and Carmen!

The “nothing here” tattoo on Francesco has me even more eager to find out about him and how he came to work for Epifanio and company.

Paloma has proven to be not too smart again: letting Cayetana know she is pregnant with Juan’s child???

So many nasty players. Anyway, at least Tozzi is back. 😆

POQUITO
UA--Have to thank you for the blow-by-blow action in Un Poquito. I apologize for not putting up a comment to let you know how much I appreciate your efforts. I AM watching, with pleasure.

It's puzzling that I don't remember all the scenes you describe. I KNOW I'm not falling asleep. The only conclusion I can come to is that the US broadcasts have a lot more commercial breaks and longer ones than in Mexico. I think Telemundo is cutting out scenes before they broadcast, whereas when they are available elsewhere, you get the whole thing. Thank you again. Putting the deleted scenes back in makes sense out of some of the subsequent scenes.

Thanks, all. I had a jarring thought this morning. And, deb, I appreciate the Belize information. After a night's sleep, I was thinking: Yep, those look like Mayan ruins and it looks humid and full of greenery. But they are still supposed to be in Mexico City. If there are ruins within driving distance, they'd be Aztec, not Mayan.

Reina 2

I've heard that Kate's problems with the Mexican government have been resolved, but during the filming she couldn't go there, and any scenes of her there used a double.

Poquito

BTW, that is a superb makeup and hair job on the actor playing Mauricio, who was the murdered father in PASL at the beginning of the current season.

POQUITO
There were two murdered fathers at the beginning of PASLII. Are you referring to the abusive American, Phillip? I didn't know him from any earlier tns. The other one was Sergio, who played Violeta's boyfriend in Un Refugio and I recognized him.

Poquito

The one murdered by his son. See episode 4.

There are definitely many scenes cut from the televised version, based on UA's detailed recaps...probably one of the reasons the action seems so madcap. I just hope they never cut anything with Elvis and Elton -- they're my two favorite characters, and when they're together I can't stop giggling. Those actors have great timing.

Also I feel like I'm a whole episode ahead...in Friday's episode here, Eduardo got arrested for drunk driving, the college girls found out he's playing them both and decided to get even, Vivi went to Cabo with Johnny for the weekend, and there was a hilarious dinner at Madona's house with Lupita and Erick pretending to be Javi's parents. Oh, and Elvis fell off the roof onto the big pillow that the firemen had placed to catch him.

POQUITO
Blue--You are so right. I've seen all the action you described. IIRC, Vivi made Johnny sleep on the couch and nothing happened--until it almost happened and she packed up and went home EARLY.

I'm glad to see Azu and Violeta collaborate to get back at him, rather than getting angry with each other, which may be more tn traditional.

Glad you mentioned the dinner at Madona's. Now I remember how the three guests had to keep covering for each other's mis-statements. Wish now I could go back and watch it again.

Reina 2

Thanks, Novelera. Terrific recap.

Poor Carmen. Her triumph didn't last long.

I resent Teresa putting Teo in the same category with Guero and Santiago, who both loved her. Teo was an opportunist from Day 1. By comparison, Lupo at least has extenuating reasons I think for his actions.
