Ep 69: Part 1 The Battle Begins OR Eagle Eyes Set on the Bunny
At the dress shop, Encarny is still trying on clothes. Marina doesn’t know about fashion, but she thinks Encarny looks just fab (eye roll…)
Beto complains to Eric that Dr. Rick got Lucreepy to work with Tori---that was something he was going to do. When he wonders why Dr. Rick is doing so much for Marina, Eric suggests that Dr Rick wants more than a professional relationship with Mari (doesn’t take a rocket scientist, Beto!)
Encarny shares that she has Marina to thank for wanting to live it up again…for many years she felt like the walking dead. She next wants a new ‘do and treats Mari to a new ‘do too! The bird’s nests and hairy wires are removed and voila! We have a new and improved Marina…new etapa!
Eric wants Beto to find out about the girl he met. From the description, Beto figures out it’s Yola and doesn’t want to give Yola’s number to Eric since Beto is not Yola’s favorite person.
At the house of sardines, Pru is visiting. Lino tells her that he will tell Don L whatever Pru tells him. Pru thinks Don L will eventually get tired and stop having her followed. Pru confides that she told Beto that she has been seeing Mari. They talk about Beto’s new girlfriend. Angy thought he was so dedicated to his job, but Lino points out that Beto has had his share of girlfriends.
Don Mask, who is following Mari, notices Marina’s now luuk and likes it. He wonders who the woman is that Mari is with.
Tori is in the hospital and tells Mari that she looks very pretty. He slipped away from Baldo to come see her. After Mari introduces Tori to Encarny, Dr B shows up and compliments Encarny on her new luuk…and he likes Mari’s new ‘do too.
Lucreepy notices that Beto the IceBerg is somewhat distant and cold (what else is new?). She wonders if he is upset that she took on Tori’s case, but Beto tells her that she can treat whoever she wants to treat.
Dr Rick tells Tori that the psych has agreed to see him and suggests that Tori go make an appointment; so Mari takes him. Once alone, Encarny asks Dr Rick if he is going to tell Mari that Lucreepy is Beto’s gf. Dr Rick thinks that is Beto’s problem.
Mari takes Tori to Lucreepy who asks to see Tori alone. After Marina leaves, Tori stares at her eyebrows and refuses to cooperate. He wants to leave and makes faces at her.
Don L watches as Pru and Angy leave Mari’s place. When he goes in, Ms. Toolbelt stops him so he asks what this place is. She tells him it’s a vecindad where families live.
Beto confronts Dr. RIck about telling Mari that he has a girlfriend, but Doc Rick retorts that he didn’t Marina anything…but if he had, what of it? Put up your dukes, grrrr! They continue to argue. Beto wants to know what he wants with HIS woman; so Dr. Rick admits that he is hopelessly in love with Marina. Dr Rick tries to tell Beto how he tried to get Marina to face her feelings…he hired her so that she could pay him for her treatment. Beto thinks Dr Rick is just experimenting with them. When he asks what Dr. Rick will do if Marina gets back with him, Dr. Rick replies that he will forget about her…but he is going to do everything possible to win over Marina. If Beto wants Marina, he will have to fight for her.
Tori rushes out of Lucreepy’s office. When Mari explains that Tori sometimes gets agitated, Lucreepy understands and hopes to continue working with Tori…and get to know Marina better…over some coffee perhaps.
Back in Marina’s work area, Tori insists that he is hungry. When Dr. Rick comes out, Tori notices his angry face, but Dr. Rick quickly changes the subject and asks how things went with the psych; Tori did NOT like her. Dr. Rick then suggests that Marina take Tori home and tells Tori that they can look for someone else to treat him.
Ep 69: Part 2 The Battle Begins OR Eagle Eyes Set on the Bunny
Beto runs to Eric and tells him about his run-in with Dr. Rick. Beto points out that he gave up so much for Marina, but Eirc reminds him that Doc Mask intervened and everything changed. After Eric reminds Beto that he has a girlfriend, he adds that Beto needs to make a decision—he either gives up his new squeeze and fights for Marina or he stays away from her.
At night, Encarny chides Dr. Rick for arguing with Beto at the hospital. Encarny doesn’t know how this battle will play out, but Dr. Rick needs to keep in mind that Marina needs tranquility.
Chooch and Don Louse have had their roll in the blood red sheets (no showing of skin…sorry, Andy!). They discuss Pru and what she might be up to. Chooch tells Don L that he needs to confirm his suspicions.
At the house of sardines, the M troop is having dinner. Tori comments that he didn’t like the doctor who looked like a fierce eagle waiting to catch a rabbit with her claws. Marina defends Lucreepy and reminds Tori that she is seeing him free of charge. Lino then asks Mari if she has made a decision; so she tells them she is keeping her job…and she made it a point to speak to Beto formally to made it clear that they would only have a professional relationship. Marina then announces that Rafy’s godparents will be Yola and Lino.
Iceberg and Lucreepy arrive to her home after having dinner. Lucreepy suggests that they have the house all to themselves, but Iceberg has to go study for a test and he needs to get some rest because he has a headache. Lucreepy the Snake slyly brings up that she met Dr. Rick’s receptionist who seems so sweet that she invited her to coffee. Beto falls in her little trap and tells her he doesn’t like the idea because Marina is the woman he was married to. After he tells her how much he admired Marina and how she changed his way of looking at things. Lucreepy wonders if she has something to worry about; so Beto assures her that she doesn’t; what he had with Marina has ended.
Lino tells Marina about having to take Vanesa to the church. Marina knows it’ll be difficult…just as difficult as having to work near Beto.
Marina tells Yola about all the requirements for baptizing Rafy.
Doc Mask barks at someone over the phone. He thinks the offer for his house is too low and tells the person not to call him unless he has a good offer.
Don Louse is at the vecindad and stops a young kid who comes out. He pays the kid to get him a list of the names of all the people living at the vecindad.
Pru and Marina talk on the phone about the baptism, Vanesa and Beto working at the hospital. Marina agrees to let Pru pay the baptism costs. They both worry that Vanesa is getting married so soon; and both Marina and Beto have agreed that they will live their own lives.
Days pass—
The wedding day arrives. Chooch complains that the dress looks raunchy, but Pru thinks Vanesa looks beautiful. Once alone, Angy tells Vani that she still has time to change her mind about the wedding. Meanwhile, HildeRigs admires her son whom she thinks is very handsome. Hilda likes Vanesa so she will grant Vanesa’s wish and allow the honeymoon to Honolulu. Back with Vanesa, Angy doesn’t want to go to the wedding because she doesn’t want to witness what Vanesa is about to do.
Mari accompanies Encarny on her new adventure. She was denied the license to drive; so Encarny wants to learn how to ride a bike. She has invited Dr. Rick to entertain Mari while she looks into taking her first lesson.
Lino waits by the limo when he sees Vanesa walk out. Their eyes lock and time freezes as the violins play.
Thank you, Rgv Chickie! There was a lot going on in this episode and I believe you got it all. I know for sure that you got things I totally missed. I (hope) I'm getting better, but I still need my water wings, aka recaps.
I loved "At the house of sardines..." It is definitely that. But they get along... mostly. The little tension that there is is fun for us watchers.
Vanesa is all dressed up and beautiful, ready to walk down the aisle or whatever she is to do at the ceremony. I couldn't see if she was wearing running shoes though.
And waiting to take her to the ceremony is none other than Lino. And they just look at each other very emotionally. Longingly? Well, they're both all dressed up...
TGIT, maybe there's some hope that we will see something decisive before the weekend. Fingers crossed.
andy
Vane looked very beautiful in her wedding dress, and I think it would be nice to see her as a runaway bride.
Also looking very beautiful in her wedding dress was Claudia Martín at about 38 minutes into the show in a cover for TVyNovelas magazine. She married some bozo producer who was wearing a suit that made me wonder if there is something in Mexican water that makes people crazy. It must be love because she married him anyway.

Ep 53: Part 1 Teo Spies
Teo thinks he has no choice, but to follow Flor on her trip. Mica suggests that he offer to go with Flor and, depending on Flor’s response, Teo will know if his suspicions are true. She also warns Teo to be very careful because if Flor finds out that he thinks she is someone and she really isn’t, Teo will be in deep doodoo.
Flor goes to visit Marga and tells her about her trip to Mexico City. Flor also encourages Marga to pursue her interest in art.
Oscar tells Teo that he wants to start up his program as Celeste again so he can talk about inclusion and try to educate people. Teo thinks it’s a good idea and encourages Oscar to go ahead with his plans.
Rose is setting up for her fashion show. Jovita watches from her bakery and tells Vicente that it irks her that things are going so well for Rose. Vicente tries to tell her to turn that page and let people love as they want, but Jovita refuses let the town become another Sodom. When Jovita comments that she is going to show Rose who is more empowered, Vicente doesn’t want to hear about it, but Jovita tells Vicente that he is either with her or against her…and they need to make sure that Rose’s fashion show has a few mishaps.
Nestor complains to his partner that he is now a mere cop…all thanks to that doctor.
Flor gets home and sees Gris who is very nervous about the audition…so nervous that she gets nauseated. Teo arrives and asks to talk to Flor alone. He wants to give her some money just in case there is an emergency. He then offers to go with her, but, tough Flor thinks it’s very sweet of him, she thinks Teo should stay to spend time with his father since Flor will be too busy to tend to Teo.
Chile watches a video about the pitfalls of being with an older woman. Val comes in to tell him that he will be leaving for a couple of days, but he won’t give Chile details because Chile will give him one of his drawn-out sermons and try to talk him out of doing what he intends to do.
Margo goes to the church and tells Ati that Flor convinced her to pursue her dreams. Since Ait offered to show her some new techniques for restoring paintings, she decided to take him up on it. Just then Ati gets a cal from the bishop and Marga overhears him talking about Elpi’s transfer. Later, Marga confronts Elpi and asks him if history is going to repeat it…is he going away? Elpi replies that he received his transfer orders, but he hasn’t decided if he is leaving town or leaving the priesthood.
Elpi goes to tell Aure about his transfer orders. When he adds that he is troubled about the decision he has to make, Aure suggests that Elpi do what he always advises Aure—pray about it and meditate until he gets God’s answer.
Ati goes to visit Mariana and invites her to go out with him since he is going to be taking some photos of the town. She agrees.
Ep 53: Part 2 Teo Spies
After Elpi prays about what he should do, he goes to tell Aure his decision…he is leaving the priesthood because he wants to spend time with Aure and Xochitl. Aure is pleased, but if Epi changes his mind, he will support Elpi. Just then, Aure gets a call from the school to let him know that Xochitl is in trouble. Meanwhile, Mariana I shaving a good ol’ time with Ati and they have their first kiss.
In Mexico City, Gris and Lalo are in t heir hotel room and Lalo wants to make love, but Gris gets nauseated and runs to the restroom (uh-oh!). Later, Lalo enters the room with a bag. Gris thinks it’s medication for her stomach, but Lalo hands her a pregnancy test.
Flor is also in her own hotel room about to take a shower when Val pops in with his big smile and sexy eyes. After Flor covers herself and tells Val that there will be no fooling around…she can’t. Meanwhile, Teo tiptoes to Flor’s door and tries to listen but al he can hear is the shower; so he gets a busboy to help him find out if there is someone else in Flor’s room. After the busboy makes up an excuse and Flor lets him in, he checks around and sees no one else; so he goes out and tells Teo that only Flor is in the room. Back inside, Val has an earnest talk with Flor. He has tried to stay away from her but he can’t; he has tried to accept that Teo is her husband, but he can’t…he just wants to be with her and love her. When Flor keeps insisting that she can’t be with him despite the fact that she still loves him, Val wonders when he became a problem. There is a knock on the door—it’s Lalo who tells Flor that Gris is pregnant. Flor goes to see Gris who is distraught and worries about her audition. Flor tells her that she can audition, but needs to be careful; and Gris will need to tell the judges about her pregnancy. Meanwhile, Teo calls Mica to give her a status report—there is no one else in Flor’s life. Teo feels bad and doesn’t recognize himself.
Mariana gets home and check her phone. When she sees al the missed calls, she calls Aure who tells her that Xochitl was caught stealing.
For goes back to her room where Val waits for her. He gets very close to her and asks her to follow her feelings during the days that they will be there. When Flor smiles, Val knows he got his answer and is happy about it.
Lalo and Gris have a long talk. Gris doesn’t want to give up her dream and thinks of not having the baby. Meanwhile, Flor calls Teo who is down in the men’s bathroom. She tells him about Gris; she wants Teo to check her as soon as they get back into town.
Thank you for your recap!
Was Toribio reading our comments about HIDING THE BUNNY RABBIT? I had to rewind to be sure I heard that right. I also wonder if he can “see” something about her, an aura, his guardian angel, or STTE, where his sense about Lucreepy is a prophesy of sorts. Or maybe just a red herring. Time will tell.
New hair style for Marina!!! New etapa, indeed! Girl is moving on from Beto. The look on his face when she passed him in that hall was priceless.
I liked Encarnacion’s hair *before* the gravity-defying new hairdo. This new one makes her look matronly, IMHO. I’ll get used to it.
Edson’s purple suit w/flocked velvet jacket for the wedding was interesting. That is not a look we see around here.
Vane is a beautiful bride. That final scene with Lino was a killer. Great music, very well done overall.
Hoop skirt for the dress….haven’t seen those since Amor Real. Will she be a Runaway Bride? Fingers crossed!
Tori’s temper tantrum when he was hungry caught me off guard. I did not realize, until that scene, that he has the mentality of a three year old. Whoever caused that brain damage needs to be found out.
~ OT ~
Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons were wonderful, last night. The man is 85 years old and he still has his voice and can still hit the falsetto parts. If he is coming to your area definitely go, if you can. Great concert! I want to go again.
Thanks Doris and Andy!
Andy, Vanessa did look beautiful. I couldn't understand why Chooch was complaining so much; she is such a Debbie-downer! OT- I caught site of Claudia Martin in one of the commercials but she was in a red gown...don't think that was her wedding, right? LOL
Doris, I thought of you and laughed when Marina got her new 'do and when Tori mentioned the rabbit. I honestly didn't think Marina would get her new'do so quickly; and about Encarny's hair--had it been dyed red, I would have called her Bozo the Clown :-) Oh and thanks for letting us know about your concert. I was wondering about that last night too. So glad you enjoyed it!
Rgv Chick - I was afraid Marina just pulling her hair back into that ponytail might have been her new look. With this new look, doctors will be falling at her feet, right?
And ITA about Bozo hair. Did you notice it had changed to a classic ducktail in the back, during her convo with Doc Bazán, at his house? Eek.
Where is Nina??? She has not posted yet. I’m having withdrawals... 😊
Rgv Chick, another fabulous double header! Again, and again. History repeating itself quite nicely.
“The Battle Begins OR Eagle Eyes Set on the Bunny” and” she thinks Encarny looks just fab (eye roll…) were great.
Not watching but love checking in on the recaps.
Diana
ITA that Encarny's new doo is not really an improvement. It's not terrible, she's not as bad as Margaret Thatcher was, but she looked better before. But it's a new look for her and overall that's not a bad thing. She can try different new things.
It is curious that Tori reacted as he did to Doc Rapunzel. She is certainly manipulative and wants what she wants, but I didn't see a bad person there.
But right now everything else pales in comparison with Lino and beautiful Vanesa in her beautiful wedding gown. She loves Lino, sure, and Big Ed is a bit of a jerk, sure, but how many women would give up being the center of the universe, a beautiful bride in a beautiful dress in a beautiful ceremony that's all about her?
With the groom, guests, and waitstaff in supporting roles, of course.
I seriously don't want to miss this.
:-)
andy
Most excellent Rgv Chick.
“When Flor keeps insisting that she can’t be with him despite the fact that she still loves him, Val wonders when he became a problem” Really?? If Val really loved Flor, he would take comfort in the fact she could be happy with Teo rather than spending her days mourning him. Continuing to haunt Flor, forcing her to remember everything about him that she loved is cruel. He should be letting her resume her life and live happily ever after. I’m rather glad I’m not seeing any of his scenes.
“…they need to make sure that Rose’s fashion show has a few mishaps”. Oh dear, I must be a terrible person as I am enthusiastically shaking my head yes! She is..unbearable.
For some reason “Chile watches a video about the pitfalls of being with an older woman” made me smile and just struck me as ridiculously amusing.
Finally, “Xochitl is in trouble”. Xochitl IS trouble. Ack.
Thank you for another insightful, detailed summary – you are the best!
Diana
"...she's not as bad as Margaret Thatcher was, but she looked better before"' "Doc Rapunzel" and finally "ITA about Bozo hair. Did you notice it had changed to a classic ducktail in the back, during her convo with Doc Bazán, at his house? Eek" make me really sorry I'm not watching andy and doris. You both crack me up.
Diana
doris, I saw Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons in 1971 and they were great then. Happy to see they are still going strong all these years later...
Diana
Diana, it's nice to see you here; it's a real shame (especially for us) that you are not watching Mirada.
And I hope we hear from Nina today.
andy
Diana - I wish you were watching Mirada on the Patio with us.
Is susanlynn watching anything right now? I miss seeing her posting.
I wish I were watching this too. It sounds like a hot mess meaning it sounds like a lot of fun!
doris, Susanlynn is watching Reina. We are a faithful few and honestly, I'm sorry more folks aren't watching - it's really good. But I understand that everyone's time is limited and people won't switch from what they are watching to see something else. Unless it's really bad...Sueno de nightmare??? I was so infuriated that even after suffering through almost every episode, refused to watch the finale. Blech.
Diana
Andy - yes, Lino was a bit cold, but she sold herself for money. He just told the truth. Great acting. Their pain was well done.
Ay, Vane, what have you gotten yourself into? Run!
Doris, yeah, I guess she and her mother sold her for the money. Meh.
But I doubt this is the end of the story for Lino and Vanesa. What follows could be interesting. After all, Big Ed wants some Little Eds, and maybe a couple of Little Edies, too. But the Little Eds first. Male heir thing, you know.
And Vanesa would choose Hawaii! Hard to run home from there.
Incidentally, it seems Big Ed and I agree on at least a couple of things: Vane is really cute, and beaches are just some sand and water. I don't know about Big Ed, but I always assume the water is full of jellyfish and sharks. At least.
:-)

Ep 70: Part 1 The Farce of a Wedding
Lino continues to look at whom should have been his bride. He gulps and she flutters her eyelids. When she wonders what he is doing there, he replies that he is taking her to the church…it was Don L who told him to take her. There is much traffic and she doesn’t want to be late to her ceremony. Lino slowly escorts her to the car as he tells her that he isn’t doing this for his pleasure; he is only fulfilling his responsibility as a chauffeur.
Encarny rides her bike and almost falls. Mari watches her and Rick as he goes to help her; meanwhile, she is being watched by Doc Mask. As they talk, Rick asks Mari not to refer him as “Dr”. Doc Mask comments that they have become friends…and it better only be friends.
Vanesa gets hysterical and tells Lino to stop the car. She gets out crying and starts to run but Lino stops her. After she asks Lino to take her far away. Lino tells her that she made a commitment and he needs to take her to church. She cries that it is he whom she loves. Lino insists that he has to take her to the church…she sold herself so they need to get going. He hopes that everyone thinks her tears are that of joy. Vanesa returns to the car as she cries…not caring that her dress is getting dirty as her train drags on the street.
At the park, Encarny finishes her lesson and wants to go home to tend to her bruises, She invites Mari to have lunch, but Mari needs to get home. Doc Mask assumes that the woman is Rick’s mom and Mari has become their friend.
At the church, Lino opens the door for Vanesa and tells her that her guests are waiting. Chooch comes out running and asks why she is late. She pulls Vanesa out of the car and tells her that her make-up is all messed up. Don L comes out so Lino tells him there was a lot of traffic. Don L then proudly takes Vanesa inside. After Chooch makes some snide remark about Lino not having anymore hopes for her daughter, Lino tells her that she should be glad he didn’t steal Vanesa away.
We don’t get to witness the wedding ceremony. Lino drives the happy couple to their reception as Big Chains is all over Vanesa like an octopus. Lino watches as Big Chains tries to kiss Vanessa whose dress he’d like to rip off.
Chole (Ms. Tools) invites Mago for a walk so he can get to know the neighborhood. Dami thinks Mago should stay off his leg, but Mago agrees to a short walk. After they leave, Dami comments that Chole must be desperate for a boyfriend. Baldo thinks she must have been alone for quite some time…and she isn’t that too bad on the eyes.
At the reception, Vanesa’s friends laugh at the cake. Lucreepy comments that Vanesa looked somewhat distracted. Beto thinks Vanesa would like everything to be over…this wedding is odd and shouldn’t have happened the way it did. Beto is there only because he felt obligated. Pru and Don L comment that Vanesa might be happy…eventually. Lino approaches Don L and asks if he can leave, but Don L insists that he has to take the couple to the airport. Pru follows Lino to ask about his father; meanwhile, Chooch comments to Don L how Pru and Lino are talking so intently…she plants the seed that Lino might be Pru’s lover. Don L doesn’t thinks so but if it’s true, the devil will appear to them.
Hilda gets everyone’s attention with a loud whistle; she leads everyone in a cheer for the novios while Chooch wants to hide under the table and is disgusted at the sight of the couple’s kiss. Lino watches from a distance…his eyes filled with tears. The reception continues with congrats for the couple and Hilda walking around making sure everyone is having a good time. Vanesa gulps down her champagne before the toast. Eric is with Beto and Lucreepy insisting that Beto give him Yola’s number, but Beto refuses. Later, Eric gets into Beto’s phone to figure out Yola’s number. Hilda shares with Beto and friends that she is treating the novios to a honeymoon in Honolulu…her big boy will be very happy.
Ep 70: Part 2 The Farce of a Wedding
At the park, Chole chats with Mago about life in the country. She then brings up Baldo. Meanwhile, Baldo and Dami are walking around too. Baldo thinks that Dami just wants to spy on Mago. They approach Chole and Mago; and Mago is relieved and hopes that Baldo can entertain Chole since his leg is hurting. Dami quickly takes Mago home so she can put some ointment on his knee. Chole takes note and makes sure Baldo does too.
Mari arrives home and thanks Rick and Encarny for the good time. Before they leave, Mari invites them to Rafy’s baptism.
Chole turns the knife on Baldo as she comments how Dami dotes on Mago. After Baldo shares about the history between Mago and Dami, Chole thinks Dami loves Mago and Mago reciprocates those feelings. Baldo refuses to hear anymore and leaves.
At the reception, Hilda leads the cumbia dance line. When she gets to the novios, Vanesa takes over the lead and actually manages some smiles.
Dami tends to an ailing Mago when Lino arrives and tells them that they should have seen the novio; he might be rich, but he still has “naco” (trashiness) written all over. When he mentions Beto and his girlfriend, Dami tells him to hush because Mari is in the next room with the baby.
Don L gets his list from the kid he paid…and sees Lino’s name. He is sure now that he found Pru’s lover.
At the hospital, Lucreepy and Mari are at the cafeteria. After Mari apologizes for Tori’s behavior, Lucreepy comments how much she likes Mari…they should be friends. She doesn’t have many friends, but she has a wonderful boyfriend; maybe Mari knows him…his name is Alberto Ocarranza. Mari gets the impactada look. After Lucreepy continues about how good looking her BF is, Mari admits that she does know him. Luceepy thinks that they should all go out to lunch…maybe Mari has a BF? Mari responds that there is no BF for her and needs to get back to work. After she leaves, Lucreepy is satisfied…in case Mari had any hopes of getting Beto back (snake!)
Don L calls Lino and tells him that he no longer has to follow Pru. After he thanks Lino, Don L tells him to take the day off…he can dedicate himself to caring for his father or just have a good time.
In Honolulu, Edson welcomes his pretty little bride to paradise. He speaks in English as he shows Vanesa the view. He complains about the hor d’oeurves…he would have preferred a nice bowl of soup. Big Ed wants her to come to bed with him, but Vanesa is tired. Big Ed reminds her that he has satisfied her every whim and didn’t complain when she insisted on coming here instead of Cozumel; now it’s her turn to please him. Vanesa wants to go have something to eat but Ed is also hungry but for something else.
Don L calls home and tells Pru to take the day and have fun. He is going to be so busy he won’t even be able to take her calls. Chooch has been listening and thinks that now that Lino and Pru have the day off, they will spend it together. Don L hopes the day doesn’t end in tragedy…he doesn’t know if he will be able to control himself
Lucreepy twists everything as she tells Beto that Mari asked her if they were novios…she only told her the truth. When she asks if Beto has talked to her, Beto confides about Mari wanting to quit since he was working there. Lucreepy now knows why Beto wanted to quit and wonders if he would have really given up his job. Beto points out that this is Mari’s opportunity to get ahead and he didn’t want her to lose that; he hopes Lucreepy won’t have a problem with Marina working there. Lucreepy assures him that there won’t be any problems with her if Mari works there…if he assures her that there is nothing between him and Mari.
Mari confides in Rick about her encounter with Lucreepy. He tells her that he already knew, but didn’t know how to tell her. Rick can find another psych for Tori, but Mari thinks that Lucreepy has no fault in this. She doesn’t think Beto has told her anything about her (WRONG!! Plus the snake found out on her own.)
The Purple paisley ?suit?....There is tacky, then there is shit even a transvestite hooker would not wear. You wont even see something like that in the trailer camp at the circus. WOW too bad they took the tags off, I wonder if that is something Hilfiger (GoFigure)came up with.
Remember when we all hated snooty little Vanessa?
That red dress sure made Prudencia look....ed at.
And what makes Beto soooo sought after? He is nothing to look at.
Well, maybe I just answered my own question, he works at the HOSPITAL: He HAS an education and does Not have an STD.
I really dislike telenovela characters who start out seemingly normal/on the good side but eventually become the villain. That’s likely where Lucreepy is headed. If she and Beto eventually break up, she’ll probably lose her marbles.
I feel bad for Vane and Lino. As much as it killed him to do so he had to do his job. I would love to see him punch Ed in the face or something. I doubt Ed would give Vane the divorce so how can she get out of the marriage?
I don’t even wanna know what Doc Mask could have up his sleeve.
Yall I was so tired after work yesterday, I didn't want to look at nothing.
Doris the recap totally was fun and amaaaazing.
Why is momarigs ok-ing the honey
Moon in Hawaii? Is she payin for it?
Where does beto get off saying he gave up so much? What did he give up? He was not even man enough to stand by his woman when she needed him. And he just
Agreed waaay to soon with his ass of a father. After he found out that that pompous jerk gave her to a man that abused her. Now look I get that the shock of finding out that you're not who you thought you were, or that the love of your life is your sister/wife. So what did he give up exactly? Seems to me he ran away with his crooked tail between his crooked legs. Right

I didnt see this episode today, but I
Did read the recap, I'll watch it on
Demand tomorrow. Yall know they teased
Us with the run-away-bride. They may
Have figured that was done to death &
And decided to skip it.
I'm this has nothing to do with this show, but why is everything about Bar-
B-A this time of year? I'm surprised
HilDeRigs didn't want bar-b-Q at the
Reception.
I really want to see the episode when pru finds out about donnyboo & mooch
That should be the slap heard around the world.
Hi Kirby, good to read you again.
And thank you Ms Chick.
Rgv Chickie, thank you very much. It's always a pleasure to read your recaps.
I'm still thinking over Lino's actions. He was too firm, too cold. He could at least have asked Vanesa what she wanted to do when she asked him to "take her far away." Whether she could stand up to her mother, to live in near poverty, to work for a living, to lose her society friends. Probably not, but he closed the door to the possibility.
Holy Guacamole, that was a very, um, cute red dress.
Don Louse is continuing with his lousy ways. I'm reviewing my TN vocabulary, is "sácate" much the same as "lárgate"?
It could be interesting if he bursts in on Prudy and Lino... and Margo and Damiana and Marina and his grandson...
If he does he better hope doña Toolbelt is not there with a very heavy tool close to hand :-)
Gee, these TN Mexicans are very tolerant and non-judgmental. Doc Mask, now wearing a new mask made from part of a compression stocking with eye holes, etc., a hoodie and his red shoes trails Marina all day and sits around muttering strange and violent ideas to himself. And nobody bats an eye.
Nina, nice to see you back. CDMX police said we had to wait 72 hours before filing a missing persons report. That makes sense, we all get a little busy sometimes.
andy
Thank you for another great recap, Rgv Chick! Perfect title.
As I watched Lino and Vanessa interact in this episode, I totally understood where Lino was coming from.
1. He needs this job. (He needs any job, and they haven't been easy to find)
2. He was doing his job. Earning his paycheck.
3. Vanessa needs to empower herself, grow a spine, and make her own decisions instead of waiting around for someone (Lino) to rescue her from her bad decisions like marrying Edson. And yes, that is HER decision because she did not say NO. She has choices.
4. --> Running away with Lino would not solve anything. Lino knows this. He would be out of a job, she would want her old life and friends back because she’s not ready to live life on Lino’s economic and social scale.
5. Vanessa needs to suffer the logical consequences of her decision to marry Edson.
6. I do not feel sorry for Vanessa. (Well, maybe 1% sorry for her because of her mother.) She has lied to Edson by way of her willingness to marry him. (she doesn't even like him!) She has led him on, which is wrong. Dishonest. It does not matter how naco the guy is. He will be way PO'd when he realizes that,
7. Vane has created her own Circle of Hell and will have to hit rock bottom before she stands up for herself. She could always have gotten a job to support herself, so I do not feel very sorry for her. She has a domineering abusive witch of a mother, so she will have to reach a point where she is ready to change herself.)
8. Let’s hope Edson does not get angry and hit her. When he tossed her on that bed, the red flags went up.
Vaya! That Lucreepy is a bad one. Tori saw her evilness. No woman would do what she did if she did not feel insecure in her relationship and threatened by Beto's past with Marina.
Andy - ” Holy Guacamole, that was a very, um, cute red dress.” I was thinking more along the lines of “Holy Cleavage, Batman!” What was the wardrobe dept. thinking? She was one turn from a wardrobe malfunction. No fast dancing for Pru at that reception.
Nina – Good to see you here again, on the Patio, with your sassy comments. :-) And ITA with you, Beto is a coward.
Thanks, everyone for stopping by and putting into writing what I would like to have said.
TF, Lucreeps is definitely heading to the dark side. If sh eever finds out tha Doc mask is responsible for Beto and Marina's break-up, I'm sure she'll use him too...and vice versa.
Kirby, yeah, purple paisley suit, but no purple rain?? at least not yet :-)
Nina, I laughed all throughout your comment...no one tells it like it is as you do!
Andy, I especially liked this "Doc Mask, now wearing a new mask made from part of a compression stocking with eye holes, etc., a hoodie and his red shoes trails Marina all day and sits around muttering strange and violent ideas to himself. And nobody bats an eye.
" My thoughts exactly!
DOris, I could copy your whole list. One of the things that has irked me about the Lino/Vanesa match is that they are so mismatched. When he is willing to give in, she isn't; when she is willing to give in, he isn't...and back and forth we go! Frustrating as heck!
Wowser, Doris!
Doris, I'm a little harder on Lino than you are, and a little softer on Vanesa. But your numbered list is very impressive and fairly convincing. Still, I don't think it had to be this way. :-)
(Rgv Chickie, yes! "When he is willing to give in, she isn't; when she is willing to give in, he isn't...and back and forth we go! Frustrating as heck!" Exactly right!)
Re tossing Vane on the bed, I'm hoping that Edson was just being a bit macho with Vanesa to make a point, just as Louse did with Chucha recently. I can't say I approve (in fact, I don't) but some women actually like that sort of thing, and not just in TNs. (Don't ask me how I know that.)
“Holy Cleavage, Batman!” Oh, yes, indeed.
I don't understand what is so terrible about Doc Rapunzel. She is definitely no saint, but is she worse than Eric who breaks into Beto's cell phone to get Yola's number? Maybe Toribio can see something in her eyes that I don't (yet?) see, but then he sees the Devil everywhere.
She was pretty good with Doc Mask. And any woman who can coolly talk to. and offer help to. a nut job who is wearing a compression stocking mask to conceal his face and uses an assumed name, just can't be all bad. :-)
Very much a fun TN. If someone had told me a few years ago that at some point I would be a bit impatient over weekends waiting for Monday to roll around, I would have laughed my fool head off.
andy
TF: "Rapunzel is not terrible....yet. ... Any attempt Beto makes to get Marina back, Lu is gonna be there to thwart it."
If she thwarts him that's fine with me, I'd rather not see Beto regain Marina. I think a much better choice for her would be Doc Ricky.
Beto can have Rapunzel, and if she's more thorns than roses, that also is fine with me. He's a bit of a prickly pear himself.
:-)

Nina, you are so right about neither of them moving on. I've been thinking the same thing. Won't the Telenovela Rules will have them together by the end? If so, hopefully they will have worked out all their problems.
As usual, the secondary plot characters, in this case Vane and Lino, are a way more interesting storyline than the main protagonists.
Another fine effort RGV. Thank you!

Ep 54: Part 1 To Confess or Not to Confess…That is the Question
Mariana gets to Marga’s house and Aure tells her that Xochitl was caught stealing from a student; the director is sure it was Xochitl and wondered if something was going on at home.
Celeste is on the air telling her listeners that she loves talking to them and asks them to send her their questions. Jovita hears Celeste and turns off her radio.
Aure and Mariana talk to Xochitl who denies stealing anything. She puts on her little innocent act with each of her parents to see which one will say they believe her, but Aure and Mariana stand firm and tell her that what she did was wrong and she will be punished. Xochitl wants to be with Diego because Diego will believe her. When Mariana responds ta Diego’s trip will have to be canceled as part of her punishment, Xochitl insists that she wants to see Diego just like Mariana sees Ati.
Marga goes to talk to Celeste about her concerns. Celestes assumes it’s about Chile, so Marga admits it is. She is worried about the age difference and what will happen in a few years when Chile might want children and she won’t be able to give them to him.
Marga and Chile have a candlelit dinner. They are going to watch a movie Chile likes. When he tells her what it’s about, Marga isn’t too thrilled to see it, but then pretends to be excited.
In Mexico City, Flor returns to her room which is decorated for a night of romance—candles lit around the room, rose petals on the bed and wherever there are candles. Val hugs Flor and tells her all the things they can do together, but when Flor tells him that they need to talk, Val knows that it’ll be something he won’t like.
Teo is back in his office talking to Mica. He feels bad about what he did, but Mica thinks that, based on how Flor was behaving, Teo had every right to be suspicious and try to get to the truth. Teo is still shocked that he spied on Flor—it’s not him; he knows how he is and the values he has…the man who spied on Flor is not him.
Flor and Val sit on the bed as they talk. Flor has already thought about it. She is in love with a ghost…it’s more that insane. She loves Val and she spent the best days of her life with him, but she is married to Teo and she will remain with Teo. When she tells Val that her decision is final, Val’s eyes fill with tears and he fades away.
Lalo looks at Gris as she sleeps. When he looks at her paperwork for the audition, he sees that she did not report that she is pregnant. The next day, Gris talks to her family on the phone and tells them that she is going to join the company to represent her country…they will be very proud of her. Lalo complains to Flor that Gris didn’t even consider his opinion. Flor points out that Gris is not a child anymore and has a right to decide for herself. Lalo thinks they should make a joint decision; he wonders why Gris doesn’t care what he thinks.
Ep 54: Part 2 To Confess or Not to Confess…That is the Question
Val returns to Chile’s funeral home since his trip didn’t go as he planned. When Chile notices that Val is in a bad mood, he tells Val that he doesn’t feel like putting up with his little dramas…when Val gets like that “le cae pesado” ( he gets too heavy) like a pregnant whale, or a pig….or an iguana…whatever…
Flor gets back to town and goes to talk to Mariana before she sees Teo. She can’t go on with the guilt and wants to tell Teo the truth—everything. Mariana doesn’t think Flor should tell Teo anything since Flor has already decided to put a halt to Val. Flor doesn’t think that will erase everything she did, but Mariana insists that Flor really shouldn’t feel guilty since Val isn’t really there…he is dead; what Flor did was to close the chapter with Val. Mariana advises that Flor shouldn’t torture Teo with the truth…and Teo won’t believe her anyway; he will think she is crazy.
Marga looks for info on treatments to stay young on the internet. When Xochitl interrupts, she quickly closes the laptop and invites Xochitl for ice cream.
Flor goes home to find Teo there. He missed her very much and she missed him too. They both have something to tell the other; so Teo goes first. When he tells her about spying on her, Flor remains calm and understands. Teo is surprised at her understanding and showers her with compliments about what a wonderful person she is. When he asks what she wanted to tell him, Flor can’t bring herself to tell him the truth so she tells him she just wanted to apologize; her actions made Teo act the way he did. As they hug, Val watches sadly. Later, Flor is in her bedroom when Val appears and chides her for not telling Teo the truth. Val is not going to give up; he is there because Flor wants him to be there…but now she is killing him all over again; and though he is dead, it hurts him. When Flor tells her that she isn’t having it easy since she has to decide between a ghost and her husband, Val reminds her that the ghost is her husband too…who loves her and who knows that she loves him. Flor reminds him that she has made a decision and asks him to respect that…she wants to be happy and she can’t be happy if he is always following her and confusing her.
Lola returns to Tito’s house in tears. The man turned out to be a con and he cheated her out of her money. Lola and some others had to asks strangers for money so they could return home. Lola doesn’t want to stay in town because everyone will make fun of her, but Tito and Itza convince her to ignore what people say and stay with them for as long as she wants. Lola then tells Tito that she doesn’t know how to repay him; she doesn’t know what she did to deserve him.
Rose is excited as she tells Tere that the CKLASS reps will be attending their fashion show. When Ati approaches and comments about how good everything looks, Tere asks him to be their photographer. Later, Rose and Tere are in Rose’s shop talking about a prize that they might win. As they leave the shop, Rose locks up. Later, Jovita and her minions, Vicente and Nestor, jimmy the door and going inside. They take all of Rose’s merchandise and hide it in another building.
Teo is in his office telling Mica that he feels so much better. Mica thinks he did the right thing and likes seeing him happy.
Ep 54: Part 3 To Confess or Not to Confess…That is the Question
Flor sees Marga out in the town and asks to talk to her about something important. Once at Marga’s house, Flor asks Marga if she ever confessed to her father that she had been unfaithful with Elpi. Marga assumes that Flor has something very serious that she needs to say to Teo and doesn’t know how to do it. After Flor nods, Marga advises her that if whatever she has to say is that serious, then she should be careful how she says it because there are confessions that can be fatal. Flor questions “fatal” so Marga thinks it’s time that she tell Flor the truth. Narciso ( Flor’s father) found out about her affair and that Aure was not his son on the day he died. That day, before Narciso went to see Flor dance, Marga held him back and told him everything. Narciso became very upset and took off in his car. Narciso didn’t have the accident because he was rushing to see Flor dance, he crashed because he found out about Marga’s betrayal. Flor listens in disbelief and disgust as Marga apologizes for making Flor feel so guilty for all those years. When Flor asks why she made her believe it was her fault that her father died, Marga doesn’t know…maybe she wanted to feel less guilty. Marga was very angry; she had lost Narciso and she had lost Elpi…she was alone and she didn’t want laughter or dancing. Marga was very angry with everyone and with herself. Later, she regretted what she did, but she had already made Flor part of her pain. Flor asks Marga if she knows how many times she went to church to ask for forgiveness because she felt guilty every time she danced. When Marga asks Flor to forgive her, Flor responds that she doesn’t have to forgive her…Marga has to forgive herself. Marga then gives Flor some advice—Marga turned away from God because she was very angry and embarrassed; Flor should seek God and get close to Him so that He can give her strength to continue in her marriage.
Flor goes to the church and asks to talk to Elpi...under the sacrament of confession; she needs his help.
Marga talks to someone about a treatment to look young. The sales person tells her all the benefits, but Marga wants to know the consequences. As any bogus salesman, the man offers her a 50% discount and makes outlandish guarantees.
The episode ends with Rose going into her shop…her completely EMPTY shop.
Rgv Chickie, I don't watch Flor but sometimes I look over your recaps of it and I wish I did watch. But watching two TNs at one time is enough to wear me out. I have no idea how you can watch and, especially, recap so much. You are definitely a real trouper, and you seem to be everywhere on Caray.
Take care, I hope you don't burn out.
andy
Doris and Nina, I think this TN is playing with having a traditional, fairly predictable TN story, and then doing some things differently. Many of us were very surprised when Marina and Beto got married so early in the story. Weren't they supposed to suffer all sorts of problems that would keep them apart until much later... and then have a big blowout wedding? That didn't happen, and there are quite a few other things that have not followed the usual rule book.
I am hoping, although it's probably a lost cause, that they continue with this pattern and do not have Marina and Beto wind up together in the end. But the fact that Baby Rafe is Beto's makes it even harder to believe she could get over him and go with my choice, Doc Ricky.
But we live in (moderate) hope.
Mely, "I am betting that Hilda will have no inclination to support Chooch" You have a point there. Chooch and the lovely Vanesa have a long history with los Ocaranza, but not with Big Ed's family. Big Ed only married Vanesa, and Hilda is no softie, nor a spendthrift.
:-)
andy
Andy - I agree with you about the writers. I honestly don't care who Marina ends up with, but that baby needs a good daddy no matter who it is, bio- or step-. So I'm good with everyone's favorites.
I'll bet Mama BigRigs refuses to fund Chooch's lifestyle. Because, really, why should she? Ed's mom does not look like someone prone to giving handouts. Maybe Big Mama works in the family biz (Is Edson's dad deceased?) and would say that Chu should get a job. And rightfully so. Vane might not get an allowance, but Ed might just say he will pay his wife's bills. It would be great to see this plan backfire in Susanna's face.
And this is IF the Vane/Edson marriage survives long enough. Who knows what the writers have up their sleeves?!? Must see TV!
I think we are somewhere around the halfway mark for this? Just a couple more months of angst, adultery, evil and jealousy?
MIRADA
I see that Rapunzel has been triggering many comments. I agree with TF, Rapunzel is not terrible...yet, but Andy, I do think she is definitely worse than Eric...she's a snake in the grass...devious and cunning awaiting for the right moment to strike. She is very intelligent and manipulates situations to her benefit.
Nina, re: Vanesa- " that ship has sailed and She Missed it." She sure did...as well as the horse, the bus and the train any thing else Lino might have used. I'm trying to think back if there was a white horse. Is there still a possibility that Lino can come riding up and rescue the fair princess? Will he want to?
Mama BigRigs support Chooch the Mooch?? ...not a chance! Doris, yes, Mama BR does have a hand in the business. When they had their first lunch date, Mama was late because she was tending to business; and Mr Chains did comment that, if it hadn't been for Mama, the business would not have been as successful as it is; so Mama seems to be a roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-to-it kinda gal...no mooching off of her!
Andy, I never answered your question--Yes, "sacate' has the same meaning' as "largate" (in the context that Don L used it).
Andy, thanks for commenting. I am really enjoying this TN. I haven't seen many TNs that are comedies, but this is the best one (IMO). Chile is hilarious as are so many of the other characters; they all really work well together. I wish I could include a good description of all the facial expressions and other nonverbals, but it would be too time-consuming and I don't think I could do justice to all the humor this TN has to offer. Aslo, Univision chose a really bad time slot for this TN; in my area it airs right at lunchtime; so I'm either making lunch or having lunch and it's hard to give it my full attention.
