Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Lunes 6/24/19 Episode 69: Family Crises

Scenes combined where it made sense to do so.

Roberto and Nicolás were having breakfast when Roberto told his father that all he wanted was the whole truth. “If you don't tell me the truth I won't understand what happened.”

Juan was looking at his cell phone photo of Fernanda when Manuel came in to enquire about whether Juan had approached her. He admitted he hadn't so Manuel asked him what he was waiting for. Juan said he was right and asked him how it was going with Lorena. Manuel said he had to wait, go out with her a few times first, etc. They wished each other luck and Manuel left to get things done.

Nicolás advised Roberto to trust how he was brought up and to not have illusions about what he will find out. He said that since Lucia had the courage to look for him he hoped that she had it in her to tell him the whole truth about the end of their marriage. And that Roberto would be able to tell the difference between lies and truths.

Marcela was reading a novel to Camila, decided it was too sad, then took something else out. Camila seemed to have ffallen asleep on the couch. Sofia arrived home and Marcela brought her up to date on her condition. She thought the medications were too strong and the doctor adjusted them. Camila asked Sofia about her case.

Ricardo went to Alonso's office and they discussed the case and Sofia's situation. Alonso said they had to help her because this situation is very difficult. They talked about the case they were all working on and Alonso went on to say that one should not give up a passion for life during times of crisis. They must help people they love. He gave Paula and Jaime as the example. He told Ricardo he needed help from someone who loves him. [Sofia might jump at this one.]

Juan picked up his cell, put it down, then picked it up again. He called Fernanda, who was irritated and told him to leave her alone. She insisted she wasn't like Tatiana and he should leave her alone and be happy with Tatiana. She then hung up on him.

El Chivo came back to El Ciego without further information about La Bestia's past activities. El Ciego picked up his pistol and waved it around; El Chivo left.

Gustavo acquired a new client, a woman named Sara whose marriage was on the rocks. Her husband abandoned her and their son. She had moved in with her mother, who took care of her son while she worked two jobs to support them and herself. The previous day she had come home from work to discover that her mother had fallen and broken her leg. She had been taken to the hospital and the child was left alone. She went to the hospital to find her estranged husband there who took this as a pretext to take the boy with him. He had not paid any money toward the boy's support during his absence.

Alan was reading the news stories about the investigation into Téllez' death. When Carlos entered his office he minimized the window on his computer. Carlos asked about records of donations to the foundation. Alan said he was almost finished with the report and Carlos said he would be back later for it. He did ask if anything was wrong and Alan said no. But he did go back to the news site when Carlos walked out.

Sonia went to Quiróz' office to get information on the investigation into Téllez' death. He told her that it was reported by a female neighbor at about 11:19 that night. She had heard or seen nothing before seeing the body. All they had was the forensic report. Sonia was sure that this was not an accident.

Sara explained to Gustavo that her husband walked out almost three months previously. No money was given to her for their son's care. She worked two jobs for a total of 11 hours per day and feared that she wouldn't be able to pay Gustavo's fee. She was willing to do whatever it took to get her son back. Gustavo explained that her husband had a legal and moral obligation to provide support for everything that her son needed. The judge will obligate him to pay, including for childcare that her mother could not provide at this time. He husband had walked out prior to the divorce petition and he will have to pay.

Sonia noted the multiple fractures and contusions and said she didn't believe this was from a single impact. Quiróz agreed. Sonia had suspicions as to who could have caused the second blow but did not identify the person yet. She needed more information, including Téllez' personal effects. Quiróz said he would cooperate and let her know when he had something.

Nancy and Herrera had drinks at the bar when she was asking about Michelle. He said that the only information there was on her so far was the registration of her business. This sounded suspicious to Nancy, who continued to flirt with her pet cop.He said he would let her know when he found something out. She gave him an almost-kiss before leaving. This time he looked at her with scrutiny.

Alan gave the report to Carlos, who scanned it and found no flaws [for the moment]. Alan asked about the art gallery visit and Carlos told him that he purchased four paintings, one of which was for the office. Alan pressed him for more info and Carlos said he bought one as a gift for a (female) friend. Alan tried to get him to say more, but Carlos played this close to the vest.

Manuel found Lorena researching the local cartels. He was disappointed when she declined his offer of help. He asked her out but she said she had too much work. She apologised for being short with him. He left the library.

Victoria visited Ricardo and he told her about the case and invited her to read the documents. He asked how she was and she said she was worried about Roberto. She told him about Lucia and asked him to talk to Roberto. He said not to worry, he would.

Nancy called Javier, who scolded her for calling his cell phone. She said she had information for him and he emphasized “not over the phone.” They agreed to meet at the same place at 9PM, but she was not to call him again. She looked at her phone in frustration and said “How pathetic!”

Ricardo went to Roberto's office to talk to him about Lucia. He said it was nothing serious, that she just wanted to get to know him. He wasn't so sure. Ricardo asked if he wanted to talk and Roberto seemed willing.

Gustavo went into Alonso's office to discuss his new case. He described Sara's situation, adding that her mother was 82 years old and her son was 6 and that she worked all day to support both while her husband provided nothing. He said he was going to fight to get the man to pay what is right. Gustavo watched him, saying “That is the Gustavo I always knew.”

Nancy went into Carlos' office torpedoes first and tried to get him to talk about the art gallery event. He said it went very well but provided no details. She told him she was meeting Javier about the dead body. He said, “Good, keep me informed” but was paying more attention to the papers on his desk. [By now Nancy must be worried about the waning power of her onve-deadly weapons.]

Alonso asked Gustavo if he needed Ricardo's help on the case; Gustavo said no, but if one of the juniors wanted some experience... so Alonso sent for Lorena, who was her usual eager self.

Sofia told Camila about the case as she had always done in the past. Camila didn't understand it as she had not in the past, but was happy to hear that the case was successful.

Lorena read from the civil code that principle custody of a child is automatically lost if the parent seeking it abandons the child for more than three months without justifiable cause. Since it was a rented apartment and the husband had provided nothing during his absence this should be sufficient to persuade the court. They discussed what could happen when they petition for Sara, such as an accusation that she was incapable of caring for the child. Gustavo pointed out that many people don't know that child support includes everything needed to provide proper care for a child. Lorena offered to write the divorce papers. Ricardo arrived just before she left and Gustavo told him to close the door. He told him that they were very close to identifying the criminals that have been attacking the firm.

Javier and Nancy danced around their info negotiations [meaning there is no new info for us]. No progress, really.

El Cuervo came to El Ciego to report lots of movement in La Bestia's earthly residence and every delivery is arriving along the same route. They armed themselves and left the garage.

After dinner Sofia was clearing the dishes and Camila asked what time it was. Sofia said it was just past ten and Camila said she had to go to work. Sofia tried to explain that she had not worked in a long time and tried to stop her. Camila went on about a client meeting and said she had to tell “your father.” She began calling him. Sofia said her father had been dead for five years. Camila became nearly hysterical. Sofia looked like she was panicking.

Juan had no appetite and Susanna asked why. He told her what happened. She was sure that things would work out in time. He told her about the phone conversation and said that if Fer insisted he not call her again he won't.

Carlos talked to Michelle. He was hoping to be invited to her new apartment. Her facial expression seemed to indicate she was not pleased with this. She suggested they breakfast together in the morning. They ended the call. She had been looking online for information and landed on the news story about his arrrest.

Same conversation about the case for Ricardo and Gustavo.

Sofia called Camila's doctor about Camila's medications. Camila was still looking for Sergio, her husband. Sofia got her to take a pill. Camila asked about Sergio and Sofia told her he was alright. They sat on the couch. Sofia certainly was not alright.

Thanks UA!

It’s really heartbreaking to see what Sofia is going through with her mom. I’m guessing this is what is going to bring Sofia and Ric closer together.

Okay I must’ve missed something but what is going on between Javier and Nancy?!

It seems like the tragedy has made Gus a new person. He is very dedicated to his work and to seeking justice.

It doesn’t seem like anything Juan does will change Fer’s mind.

Thanks, Urban. My fave: Nancy went into Carlos' office torpedoes first and tried to get him to talk about the art gallery event. He said it went very well but provided no details. She told him she was meeting Javier about the dead body. He said, “Good, keep me informed” but was paying more attention to the papers on his desk. [By now Nancy must be worried about the waning power of her once-deadly weapons.]

Yes, Nancy needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

I had such high hopes for Javier, but the writers have given his character little screen time. I can't even remember if he's been in court arguing a case since PASL 2 began.

Anybody else wonder if the secret that Nicolás is holding onto is that Roberto is not his bio-kid? Maybe Lucia cheated. That's the only think of that could throw him.

Javier and Nancy are both investigating El Gringo. She approached him hoping to ultimately find out how close he was getting to finding out about the connexion between El Ciego and Carlos. Javier's paranoia is working in his favor and he has not fallen for her femme fatale tricks.

I have to say that Mar Zamora is doing an excellent job with this character.

Fernanda is out of Juan's life. Here's hoping he will go to the equivalent of bar association meetings and meet someone he can connect with.

Niecie, that didn't occur to me but considering that paternity has been something of a theme through the series that wouldn't surprise me at all. If that is the case I hope that Roberto doesn't go on a quest to find his sperm donor. That kind of thing rarely turns out well.

Thanks Urban. This Episode was kind of uneventful with a sad ending. When you don't know what to expect with this disease it can be devastating. Sofia looked like her world was coming to an
End. And it kinda was, at least the one she knew when mom wasn't slowly
Leaving her. Ok onward.

I don't much care about Alan. He's a
Train wreck, plane crash and a hanging
Waiting to happen.
Carlos.....is just trouble. Now he is
Seeming to be contemplating Michelle.
That's dangerous, but as usually his
Eyes are closed. And He's walkin into
A snake den. How depressing.

Poor jaun. Why wont he speek up. What's Wrong with these people? And he
Needs to tell tacky tati he's not into her. At all.I know it's not that easy.
If it were we wouldn't have a good tn
To watch. And we wouldn't have people to pick at on the patio. Or write about. In all this heat. 100°yesterday
Came pretty close today.

So why won't dad tell robby what broke
Up ma n pa? Neither one of those old folks are takin. Robby you're a lawyer
Start snooping.Find the devorce papers
Hire a private dick n get the answers you crave. Cuz them old folks ain't talkin. I don't know if I trust ma shes kinda sneaky. I agree Niecie, that would Be the straw that breaks the camal's back. And robby's heart. That or he has a sibling,Without nicks DNA.

Thank you Urban, you made The episode better.

Roberto may be afraid to know what it is.

Carlos is reaping what he had sown.

Juan still has much to learn.
