Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Miercoles 6/19/19 Episode 67: Risk with No Reward

Scenes combined where it made sense to do so.

Mexico City: Carlos demanded the truth from Alan, who became defensive. He was certain that Alan stopped by his apartment to deceive him. Alan stayed on the defensive, saying that he came so they wouldn't end up arguing as they were then. That the cancer of their family was pride. Carlos got fed up and walked out of Alan's office.
Los Cabos: Ricardo and Sofia walked around the area near the hotel to see which businesses might have cameras that would catch views of the clinic entrance.

Mexico City: Susanna and Fernanda met for coffee They missed each other, but Fernanda was sure she was out of Juan's life para siempre and Juan had moved on with Tatiana. Susanna told her [and herself] that Juan and Tatiana were just friends. Fernanda didn't quite believe that. She was certain that Juan preferred Tatiana. She asked Susanna to not bring his name up in future conversations. Susanna didn't want to upset her but could not believe that Juan could prefer someone like Tatiana. Fernanda then said she wished him well and took her leave. Susanna was very disappointed.

Michelle visited Carlos to invite him to an art gallery exhibition because she liked his taste in art [The painting in his office or his etchings?] to help her pick out some artwork for her new digs. Tomorrow night, and he was only to pleased to accommodate her.

Later, Carlos' secretary asked to book him an appointment with a new client the following afternoon and he told her he would be at an art gallery picking out a new painting for the office. He told her the name of the gallery so she could note it in the firm's calendar. When she went back to her desk he opened the safe in his office and noticed that a substantial sum was missing. He charged into Alan's office demanding to know where the money was. Alan took it out of his credenza and handed it to him, claiming to have been counting money that was being funnelled into the Foundation. Carlos shouted that he was never to do this again without telling him. Alan said that their employees didn't know about this money and he took it after they had left for the day. Carlos thought for a second, then slammed it down on Alan's desk and told him to return it to the safe that night. As he walked out he said “This is the last time.” Alan returned the money to the drawer and almost collapsed into his chair.

Javier was looking for the connexion between El Gringo, La Bestia, and the Dorantes. He received a call on his cell and a download [Can someone identify it for us? Thanks; my screen isn't big enough.]

Victoria discovered that the Massachusetts bar exam could be taken online* and decided she would do it. Adrian expressed confidence in her... and interest of another kind.

Javier met Nancy at a restaurant where she handed him her information about La Bestia and what he was up to. He thanked her, got up, and said he had to get back to work. That if there was a payoff in this information he would contact her. She was surprised he wanted to escape her presence, but showed no reaction. She seemed to think there was still time to catch him in her web.

Whether this was in the same bar/different rooms or in two different locations, Roberto and Nicolas talked about the issues raised by Lucia's appearance. Nicolas told his audience that he always protected his son, never spoke ill of Lucia, and got on well with him while Roberto told his that he was concerned about how this was going to affect his relationship with his father, whom he believed now had been lying to him. Nicolas said he felt that fatherhood is a lifetime responsibility and that the truth would hurt him too much. Roberto's audience echoed previous advice.

The next morning father and son did not breakfast together. Roberto said they would talk later.

Alonso and Lourdes had their morning coffee by the pool. She updated him on Paula, who was improving thanks to Jaime. He looked at the newspaper and Téllez' picture was on the front page with the news story. He scanned the story and said that the injuries described didn't sound accidental and that he had always been getting involved with the wrong kind of people.

Los Cabos: Fabián entered the courtroom, saw that Ricardo and Sofia were not yet there. He called Ricardo, who said they were on their way. Lorenza came in and he thanked her for coming. She didn't want to talk to him. She only came to make sure he didn't throw her out into the street. The court clerk entered and asked where his lawyers were. They arrived in that instant and explained to their client that they needed to make revisions but were ready.

Ricardo opened by describing the sexual encounter between his client and Ms Morales, in which she had fellated him and caught the genetic material in a condom. She then used this for insemination without his knowledge or consent. They were going to prove that this was premeditated by Ana Morales. Ana Morales' lawyer commented that the opposition needed some very strong evidence and then presented the DNA test proving that his client's child was consanguinous with Fabián Torres. Further, that they were seeking child support and more, as his client was now unemployed.

The judge asked if Ricardo had anything to say about this and he said that no matter the consent involved in the sex act his client did not consent to have his genetic emission used for an insemination. Ana's lawyer challenged him to prove this and Ricardo asked to question the doctor. He took the stand and was sworn in. Sofia opened by asking whether he knew the defendant. He said no and she reminded him he was under oath. He became evasive, saying that many patients are in his clinic, which didn't mean he knew them. She said, “Yes; so you've met. What sort of clinic is it?” He answered that it was a clinic for assisted reproduction and to her next question that she had come in seeking information, nothing more.

She asked where he was the night of the incident and he said that he had left the clinic early and went home. She asked whether he ever opened the clinic to attend exclusively to one patient and he said No. She reminded him again that he was under oath and he said he was telling the truth. Sofia then presented copies of a security video. She handed an envelope to the judge and the other copy to the court clerk, who put it in the computer to show it on the screen. It showed Dr Pineda opening the locked door to let Ana into the clinic. Sofia explained that it came from a store across the street and was recorded on the night of the encounter with her client. Sofia then asked Pineda why he opened the clinic for Ms Morales. He said that this doesn't prove anything. Sofia asked how long sperm can live inside a condom and he said that with the appropriate handling a little more than an hour. She asked whether Ana Morales knew that. He claimed not to know. Sofia read out what Fabián had told them, that Ana left the hotel room before he did.

Ricardo got up and asked how many such clinics were in the city. The judge had to prompt him to answer that there were only two. Sofia said “Did you know that yours was the one much closer to the hotel?” He started to say something but Sofia pointed out that the time stamp on the video was within the window of opportunity. “Did you enter the clinic at that hour to do the insemination?” Ana Morales' lawyer got up, saying that this was a supposition and that this case was about the consanguinity of his client's child to Fabián Torres. Sofia agreed, but said that this malpractice on Dr Pineda's part merited an additional investigation. She turned to Pineda and said that this will have consequences. She demanded to know if he had done the insemination. He looked at his former patient and Sofia told him “Ms Morales doesn't have the answer. Answer. It would be better if you told the truth.” He finally answered “Yes, but I thought it wouldn't work.” Ricardo got up and asked “Why did you do it?”

Because she offered me a lot of money to do it.”

Everyone looked at Ana Morales, who looked downward, shaking her head.

Mexico City: Susanna and Juan ate and she asked him whether he had been working late. He said he had work, but he wasn't at the office. She told him that she had seen Fernanda, who was very sad. That Fernanda thought he had a thing going on with Tatiana. Juan denied this. He had a good time with Tatiana but she was only a friend. “I love Fer, but she doesn't love me.” He didn't really want to talk about this so he got up from the table, saying he had to go. He took his jacket and briefcase and left.

Los Cabos: Pineda said that he had told Ms Morales that this had little chance of success, but she offered him a lot of money to do the procedure. She said that the “father” was the owner of the Hotel Paradiso, and didn't think about any consequences. Ricardo handed a document to the judge and said that this was a violation of the general health code. To perform an insemination the donor had to be informed and consenting. Sofia stated that the doctor's action was malpractice because there was no consent form signed by her client, who would never have consented to this. The opposition tried to blame Dr Pineda, whose objection was irrelevant as well as annoying. Ana Morales' lawyer went back to the fact that there was a child with Fabián Torres' DNA and that he was obligated to provide $upport. Sofia pointed out there was a federal law against using genetic material for illicit means. This was prohibited. The illicit end was the process and the deception of the biological father. This was instigated by Ana Morales and aided by Dr Pineda, who performed the procedure. Her client's legal status therefore was not as a father but an anonymous donor because he never agreed to this. Under Article 330 of the law the financial responsibility for the child is that of the recipient, not the donor. The doctor therefore was responsible and his clinic should be investigated for other possibilities of genetic manipulation.

Pineda objected, saying he wanted a lawyer. The judge told him he would have his day and recommended that he not leave the state or his situation would be more serious. The judge said he was ready to give a decision. He first asked Ana Morales if she had anything to say. She said that her son was all she had and she didn't want any more problems. The judge asked if she understood the seriousness of her actions and she nodded and sat down. The judge then informed Fabián that he was satisfied that he had not consented to this and was free of any responsibility. He was free at any future time to recognize the child as his or not, as he wished. The doctor was to be arrested and his clinic investigated. He was cuffed and led out of the courtroom. He gave Ana a dirty look and she bowed her head in shame. Lorenza did not exactly run out of the courtroom.

Mexico City: Nancy slinked into Carlos' office, saying he seemed in an odd mood. Without looking up from the file he was holding he said he had a lot of work to do involving El Ciego. He sat down and she tried coming on to him, suggesting a tryst at his place that night. He told her Not Tonight, I Have a Headache Event to Attend. Perhaps another time. He stepped out and she looked like she knew something was rotten in DF.

Gustavo visited Javier's office to get a progress report, but Javier said he only had a lead but no proof. He talked about La Bestia and that he worked for El Gringo but wasn't sure that this was related to what had been happening. [At least Gustavo didn't lose his cool.]

Los Cabos: On the way out of court Lorenza said she wanted more time to think about a divorce. Fabián thanked his lawyers, who noted that there will be a major investigation involving the court system and that penalties for this kind of malpractice were six years in prison and loss of the medical license. Fabián said that was the least that Pineda deserved. All he wanted to do at that point was to get his family back together. Ricardo said to give it time.

Ricardo suggested to Sofia that since they had the afternoon free they should look around and enjoy the place. She said she would change before.

Mexico City: Lucia called Roberto, suggesting they get together for dinner near his office. He agreed. However, he wasn't his usual jaunty self.

Carmen noticed that Juan was not his usual upbeat self. He vented about Fernanda.

Gustavo lost his cool when Lorena offered to help him in the investigation of the drug cartels. He would not allow her to risk her own life but he was willing to risk his because he had nothing to lose.

Carlos brought the paper into Alan's office, saying that this happened the same night Téllez wanted to see him. He asked whether he had anything to do with this.

*There are practice versions of the bar exam online. Could not find out whether one could take the real deal online in that state.

URBAN, I really enjoyed reading this recap.

I really liked the court case that Ricardo and Sofia presented. They
Really had their stuff together. Right down to the last detail. This was the best case I've seen on this tn. They work well together.

Now Fabian has won his case against
Scam moma. But there is a child that
Was made from that scam. Now he is under no obligation to her or lil jr
But there is a lil Jr. And Fabian did cheat, and lil jr was made from that cheat. Even tho lil jr's humble
Beginnings started in a used condem
He still Fabian Jr.,I think he needs should step up. And teach lil junior
Not to do what Fabian Sr did. Now
Lorenza, should she or shouldn't she
Stay with Fabian. Well that's another tn.

Carlos probly knows deep down that cousin Alan is the killer of tellez.
And He's thinkin "My cousin is not
Only lousy at lawyering he's also murderer too.
All in the family Carlos.

If jaun Wants fer back he needs tell her. But she is the one that broke it off. They need time.

Roberto, mom n dad. Good luck robby.
Good luck with the online exam Vicky.

Thanks again Urban.

Thanks, Urban. I'm all caught up just in time for tonight's episode.

Well, Ric and Sofia convinced me. I was thinking Mr Duped would need to pay child support, but their non-consenting sperm donor defense works for me. But that poor kid. What an awful, tacky, loathsome mother he's saddled with.

Love Javier paying Nancy's assets no mind. And I don't think he's gay.

Alan is dumb but Carlos is cocky and underestimates him. I wouldn't put it pass Alan to set up Carlos again, this time for Tellez' murder. What was that hug all about?

Did they show this episode tonight and last night? Cuz Ivread the recap for last night and its the episode for to
Night. Did I miss something?

Actually, PASL 2 got bumped for sports Wednesday night and this episode didn't air on broadcast TV until Thursday.

OOPs.

Ms Scam, Condom taker, didn’t receive any punishment? Curious about that. Sofia and Ricardo exploring the beach city juntos. Alejandra who?

Fabian was ignorant of the whole scheme. His punishment was the threat of divorce and the anxiety that has brought him. We don't know if he had ever previously cheated on Lorenza. My guess is that if he had she never found out or they would have been Splitsville long before this.

In Season 1 there was a case of a guy who knocked up a girlfriend and attempted to avoid acknowledging the child or paying child support. His family owned a business and after DNA proof was presented they were made to pay the piper. What is different here is that Ana had a premeditated plan to extort money out of Fabian complete with a backup plan involving Dr Pineda in case no intercourse took place. The doctor's greed was such that he violated both the law and medical ethics for however much dinero she offered or already paid him. Her family will now have to support the child.

She should be condemned to clean toilets in office buildings after working hours.

Early on in this case Lorenza said that if paternity was disproven she wanted to countersue for defamation. She should sue anyway; this could still end her marriage. CPS should be all over Ana Morales for using a child to blackmail a man who had no idea that this was the motive she had for seducing him. Both Lorenza and Fabian have a concern about negative publicity, so this case is likely to end right here.

Yeah we won't see them again. That's why I said rather they stay together or raise Fabian jr or not is another tn.
