Greetings, Caraymates!
Welcome to page 1 of Primetime TNs/Series which are not being covered by recappers. Highlights, summaries, or details of scenes/episodes are encouraged (this would be a good time to practice your skills in recapping :-). As of now, Diana is providing mini-caps for LRSY and Jarifa is providing them for SPFAT, but if some brave souls would like to contribute some highlights or a mini-recap, I’m sure it would be very appreciated. TNs/series covered by this page are:
  • 8-9PM   – La Reina Soy Yo : Ep. 22-24
  • 9-10PM – Silvia Pinal: Frente a Ti: Ep. 11-13
As with other discussion pages for more than one TN, PLEASE identify the TN you are commenting on to avoid confusion and so readers can easily find the conversations they are looking for. (You can shorten the title to one word, i.e., “Silvia”)
Discussion pages will be posted on Mondays and Thursdays by 9PM.

Comments:
My PC decided it needs an overhaul so I can post any recaps for today and possibly tomorrow :-( but EHFAR (everything happens for a reason so maybe i’m supposed to take an extra day or two of rest from recapping. I’ve been reading all the comments and have enjoyed everyone of them.

SILVIA

Jarifa, thank you so much for the recap! I missed Friday’s episode, but I knew I could count on you to provide all the important details.

Have a wonderful Monday!

I feel for you RGV, it never happens except when most inconvenient. My sincerest commiseration.

RgvChick, technology sometimes is just a pain. Hope you are up and running soon.

Hi, Chickie. Like so many things....it is what it is. Thanks for all you do. I appreciate it. Sending you and your PC good vibes on a day filled with rain and depressing gray skies here. Uff. Looking forward to some distraction tonight with Reina soy and Sylvia.

REINA

Just got home and saw this. I will put something up - can't say if it will just be highlights or more.

Sorry about your computer - they suck.

Rgv Chick, you've been doing triple duty for months now.

Objects In the Mirror May Be Further Away Than They Appear

Juanjo’s sister sits as he does an internet search for Yameli. He is clearly uncomfortable which doesn’t escape her sharp eye. You’re nervous she comments. He mentions that Yameli is familiar to both he and Wendy.

Elsewhere, striving for sweet dreams, Yameli has a vision where her parents and grandmother actually “see” her as she appears now. They are delighted and tell her she is a princess and they love her. As the warm wish quickly fades, there is a flashback where she is holding her child. The past and present collide and she is devastated. Day dawns as her doorbell rings. She steels herself and arises. It’s Ben, who also looks like he might have had a nightmare or two himself. He has a bag. Is he bearing gifts? On the patio, they have a stiff and stilted conversation regarding Erick and Monchis. Yameli tells him about Vanesa’s accident but he is unmoved. Cold. A truce is arrived at with an offer of and acceptance of coffee.

Vanesa has her cervical collar on as she greets her family. Charly is still preaching the happy family mantra with little enthusiasm from either Diana or Vanesa. Charly leaves for the studio.

Coffee talk without much talk. What was in the bag? A phone. Back to business. Ben wants to use Erick to get Monchis and this will help.

Charly and Diana argue about Vanesa. He drives out in the hot red car. I can’t help but notice their very odd, ineffective security in the form of what looks exactly like a parking lot gate.

Yameli – Juanjo’s a bit obsessed. He calls his interviewer friend with the man bun and they later meet with another man. Juanjo is fixated - trying to ferret out information where ever he can. I think they are questioning her street cred – especially some photo shots which are (I would imagine) totally fake.

Yameli visits her familiy’s graves and laments she is alone and breaks down. She then stares with resolve and angrily mentions Charly, Monchis and her baby. She has gained strength and determination from her visit.

Silvana’s parents are at her bedside. Yameli calls Octavio (again) and tells him to negotiate for a lot of money. Yameli runs into Erick. She sees his face as he stumbles on making up some excuse. She leads him away.

Octavio and Charly meet while Axel sits in. He makes his demands and Charly looks very worried. Good.

Yameli is trying to get Erick to talk. Yameli sternly tells Erick to be very careful that Monchis is dangerous. Ummm, I think he knows that.

Erick visits Vanesa and both she and Diana notice the bruises but Diana seems less concerned. She makes sure Vanesa has her cell and tells them to be careful. She searches Vanesa’s room and finds the pills. Vanesa and Erick pinky swear and meet up with Yameli. Couldn’t quite make out what he told her – he is Monchi’s son. Ahh, the phone. She gives it to Erick – no surprise. He kisses her and she feels something stir (maternal instinct?) as she puts her hand to her cheek.

Vanesa visits Sivana in the hospital. What are you doing her Octavio asks. Her mother tries to intervene but he won’t have it. Get out he yells. Erick runs into her and asks her what’s wrong. She is in tears as she relates the story. Erick tells her she is a wonderful person despite her protestations. Yameli watches as he comforts her. Charly calls as he and Axel swill liquor. She agrees to meet him looking like she’d rather do anything but. She semi-eye rolls as she watches them.

Diana fills Charly in. It’s bad she asserts. Charly looks genuinely concerned.

The Hardy boys are still trying to figure things out. You like her Juanjo’s friend says. He does remind Juanjo he has Wendy, a good woman. Juanjo says he knows that. I’m not so certain. His call to Yameli gets a voice mail. She calls him back. I have to see you Juanjo says – it’s important. Meanwhile, almost wifey calls and he makes excuses. Ahh, she guesses it’s Yameli. I love you he says as he hangs up. It looks like he doesn’t know if he believes it himself.

SILVIA #11 Monday 6/10/19

The name of this chapter was “Gustavo Altatriste, la ruptura” (Gustavo Altatriste, the break-up) and that is what almost the whole chapter was about.

Silvia has a baby girl Viridiana in 1963. Her aunt Merilú is living with her to help out. Silvia also hires Josefina a nanny from Spain.

Silvia reminds the viewer of what 1964 was like with the opening of the Museum of Modern Art and that of Anthropology and History in Chapultepec Park , the construction of the Twin Towers in New York with the Beatles being heard all over.

Buñuel ends up being Viridiana’s godfather in spite of being a self-declared atheist.

Gus decides he would like to try his hand at being a director now that he was successful at being a producer. Silvia doesn’t take him seriously and this becomes a major bone of contention between them that goes on for years. He feels disrespected and when Silvia finally gives in, he refuses. Later as he tries again to get her involved, she makes it clear that she is in no way going to risk her career at the hands of an unknown director.

At the same time, Gus is away from the home more and more in the evenings and comes in late. Silvia suspects he is with another woman or other women. As the episode goes on, it is apparent that Silvia knows that her husband is a womanizer. She warns an actress who she suspects of being one of his conquests of that very fact.

At one point, she consults with a native healer and tries to use a concoction of herbs in the bath tub with a spell to make things better with Gus. He walks in and sees it all and thinks it smells bad not knowing what it really is.

At a grand costume party, Gus disappears to be by himself. When Silvia tracks him down he tells her he is sick of all of the people. He wants to get away from everyone and it is inferred that that includes her. It seems that the show biz life just isn’t for him. He complains she is ever home. She complains he is never home. The romance is gone.

Livia looks now to be a teenager and Viridiana looks to be a few years old at the end of the episode

Silvia goes to film In Brazil for a couple of months and when she comes home, Gus has moved out taking Viridiana with him as well as Josefina the nanny. Josefina earlier told Gus how Silvia would go and close herself up in her closet to talk on the phone to all sort of people, even a man from Brazil. Silvia retrieves her daughter from Gus. She makes it clear that he will be talking to her lawyers not to her. Gus complains and says that he needed some air. Silvia counters with that she needs some air, too.

They show that Silvia made another movie with Buñuel: ”Simón del desierto” and “La soldadera.” in this time period.

Fin

It seemed that several years went by in this sad episode. Buñuel made me laugh at the baptism insisting that he was an atheist and refusing to give what would have been lip service to the Catholic jargon.

Seems that next Tuesday Silvia will end with 17/21 episodes. So we can say Univision used scissors.

SILVIA

Alexander, Thanks for the info. Happily, it hasn’t been sliced and diced so far.

SILVIA

"Silvia reminds the viewer of what 1964 was like with the opening of the Museum of Modern Art and that of Anthropology and History in Chapultepec Park , the construction of the Twin Towers in New York with the Beatles being heard all over".

Set in silver. Thank you for recounting Silvia's whirlwind life for us in such grand style.

"Silvia doesn’t take him seriously and this becomes a major bone of contention between them that goes on for years". Ahh, communication is difficult enough under the best of circumstances. It's sometimes challenging enough for couples to live together, let alone work together. Egos collide and battle.

Thank you Jarifa - this was great.

Diana

"SILVIA":

Jarifa: It sure looks like this will end with 17 to 21 episodes due to Univision cutting scenes, etc.,

reina-soy

Thank you, Diana.

Yamelí was in the cemetery of the barrio when she ran into Eric, who is living with Serg in the barrio. Eric was surprised to see her there, but Yamelí quickly changed the subject. She saw bruises on his face and did not believe his made up story. She asked him if it was Monchis and he didn't deny it. Eric told her that's he and his mother were going to move out of Monchis' house.

Vanesa asked Eric why he came with Lari. Eric revealed that she is the producer of his music and asked Vane not to tell anybody.

"He kisses her and she feels something stir (maternal instinct?) as she puts her hand to her cheek." - that is exactly what it looked like.

Juanjo discovered that all the photos on Lari's web site were fake. All the people on these photos, when asked about Lari Andrade, had never heard of her. It is obvious that Lari is lying. Adding to that all the Yamelí's slip ups and Wendy's suspicions - it is clear that something is murky here. I wonder how Yamelí is going to get out of this one.

"REINA":

Lucio: Just as I've said it before: Yameli's undercover will be blown!

REINA

So many great lines in your recap Diana, and I still can't believe you don't know Spanish. It seems like you are picking it up by osmosis.

"The past and present collide and she is devastated." Great way to describe that scene.

And this was spot on: Charley..."still preaching the Happy family mantra."

But my favorite was this:

"The Hardy boys are still trying to figure things out."

Certainly feeling sorry for the young people in this--Erick and Vanessa. They are being hurt physically and emotionally by the self-centeredness and obsessions of the adults in their lives.

Thanks for stepping in to help out Rgv Chick. You're a doll. But when are you ever going to catch up on your sleep amiga?

REINA

Thank you Lucio and Judy.

Lucio, I appreciate your advising us of crucial details including Erick telling Vanesa about his music, hence his connection to Yameli and that he and his mother were moving out. About time!

Yes, a few calls were made confirming Juanjo's suspicions. I don't know how she is going to get out of this, but I just think it's too early for that particular truth to come out.

Judy, thank you so much! And you are so right in that Erick and Vanesa are bearing the brunt of their parents (and others) mistakes.

I so enjoy recapping -it is always a pleasure and privilege.

Diana

SILVIA

Yikes, Jarifa, this was a painful episode. It's one thing to watch a marriage unravel in a telenovela (it's just a story, just a story); quite another to witness these sad developments when you know they really happened. And what a little sneak that nanny seemed to be. Ditto for the curvaceous niece of Silvia's actor friend (since deceased). I loved how Silvia let her know she was just going to be one of many. Indeed. I read somewhere that Gus, out and about as he was, fathered 20 children. So lots of little Guses flourishing in Mexico.

In spite of the sadness, the bathtub episode was a hoot. Love anything involving brujas and herbs. Being in love...and losing love...makes you crazy. And desperate. One of the pluses of growing older is you view all that as...yeah, whatever. Live your life old son.

Anyway, knowing Silvia, she will find a new romance to pour balm on the wounds.

Thanks Jarifa. Crisp and informative.

SILVIA

Diana, “Egos collide and battle” was a true description of this episode. It would be hell for me to have to work with a romantic partner.

JudyB, I, too, never tire of “brujas and herbs”. Yup, “Being in love...and losing love...makes you crazy.”

Can’t wait to see Silvia’s adventures tonight.

SILVIA

"It would be hell for me to have to work with a romantic partner". Oh Jarifa, my mind is numb at the thought. There is indeed way too much togetherness for most of us.

Space. Space. Space.

SILVIA

Diana, you always make me smile. “Space. Space. Space.” can be a magical elixir!

REINA

JudyB. "So many great lines in your recap Diana, and I still can't believe you don't know Spanish. It seems like you are picking it up by osmosis." Diana is one amazing lady, isn't she.

Love, Lies and Longing

Yameli welcomes Juanjo looking none too happy as she tries to read his stern countenance. He confronts her and tells her he knows she isn’t who she says she is. She hedges, making excuses but he isn’t buying it.

Axel visits papi and then Charly leaves for Yameli’s. As he arrives, he is greeted by several adoring fans. They take selfies and he signs one’s skin with pen. I gather that signature will not be permanent. Upstairs, Juanjo is waiting and when he arrives, Charly looks like he’s been beyotch slapped as though Yameli has been caught cheating on him! Juanjo leaves and Charly immediately tries a lip lock. Yameli backs off – this isn’t the time she demurs. She kisses him on the mouth and sends him off, wiping his slimy spit off with her hand. Charly encounters Juanjo on the way out and gives him a rather triumphant “I have the upper hand” look. Delusional.

Serge is introduced to Vanesa and she is rather aloof. Erick starts an impromptu concert and everyone is moving and grooving. The cement on Vanesa’s face cracks a bit.

Yameli confides in Juanjo and they hug. Tightly. There are interspersed black and white flashbacks to them sharing hugs and trust many years ago. Yameli spins her truth. She tells him about her years in incarceration, how impossible they were. She tells of her friend, her savior, Fanny and how Monchis exacted his revenge. Wendy and Charly must be told nothing.

Juanjo returns home and Wendy wants to know if he was with Yameli. Yes, he avers and Charly. He tries to reassure her (yet again) to which she reacts with tears, seeking solace in the bottom of a wine glass.

Erick arrives home to a worried Lidia thinking Monchis has struck again. He reassures her and they formulate their great escape plans.

Ben is NOT happy that Yameli confided in Juanjo.

There is a series of scenes where emotional thoughts, longing and turmoil are transparently clear. Yameli and Juanjo share the screen, simultaneously thinking of each other. Elsewhere, both Diana and Vanesa feign sleep as Charly enters their respective rooms. Diana in bed as Charly takes a blanket and leaves. Yameli relieves her tension with some serious yoga (not a pint of Ben and Jerry’s in sight).

The hardest scene to watch was Wendy trying to initiate something/anything, kissing Juanjo who lets her down as gently as possible. The hurt on her face radiates pain.

Vanesa is having crow for breakfast as Charly produces her pill box.

Apparently Charly has a fleet of cars available. Selecting an SUV from the pack, he is startled by Antonio (who apparently has ESP knowing which car Charly would choose) popping up from the back seat telling him to call Monchis. They converse about money. Anything of importance that might have been said paled in comparison to what our eyes were forced to watch. Monchis had several women with him, one giving a back rub. The second, cutting up his food and feeding him. Nauseating. Charly orders Antonio to leave. Be careful he spits out.

Erick and Lidia prepare to leave as Lidia ruminates the years she spent there but is obviously ready to leave it all behind.

Ben is tracking Erick as he and Lidia hail a cab. Unfortunately, one of Monchis henchmen watches and sees them leaving. He follows them on his motorcycle, likewise noted and followed by one of Ben’s men. Police set up a barrier and let them through but the henchie is foiled and turns off although now in Ben’s team’s sights.

Yameli dodges another Charly kiss, this time, saved by Axel. Yameli calls Juanjo - she must see him.

Axel and Charly at Luxor as Axel is trying unsuccessfully to eat. Charly relays his suspicions about Yameli and Juanjo and asks Axel to follow Yameli. Axel catches up to her in the parking lot and offers her a ride but she says no. They have a battle of their respective remote controls and Yameli smiles as she reiterates she has her own car. He runs to his cart to follow her…the game of cat and mice begins.

Diana

REINA

I wish I could have translated the critical Yameli/Juanjo conversations. I tried to be careful and only include just what I thought I heard without adding anything extra.

Thank you in advance for adding what I missed.

Diana

REINA-SOY

Diana, I don't know how you manage to do it, but you got the gist of the conversations and your recounting of the scenes is phenomenal.

Yameli did try to make excuses when Juanjo confronted her, but when he threatened to go tell Charly about the fake photos, Yameli stopped him. At first she only confided that she was a DEA agent who is working undercover to catch Monchis. Juanjo bought it and was going to leave it at that, but his disappointment and frustration in being mistaken about who he thought she was and the thought of Juanjo making himself believe that she was his long-time friend in an attempt to ease his pain was getting to Yameli. After Juanjo suggested that they stop working with Erick and that he wanted to stop working at Luxor because she brought up so many ideas and feelings in him, Yameli couldn't hold back and confessed who she really was.

Later, when they were walking outside, Yameli told Juanjo that she wanted to make Monchis pay for all he did to her. Juanjo told her that she was never a vengeful person...and that was the essence of her being. Yameli countered that she spent 17 years of her life in prison and Monchis had taken everything from her; she had nothing left unlike Juanjo who returned to Mexico, is now getting married and has an incredible life.

It seems Juanjo turned somewhat resentful after he had time to reflect on what Yameli told him because when she called him the next day to tell him that they needed to work with Erick, Juanjo snapped at her when he told her that he thought she wouldn't want to continue with Erick since it wasn't part of her "plan." It was only after Yameli assured him that she did care about Erick and was still very interested in making Erick the best reggaeton singer that Juanjo agreed to call Erick.

Charly is up to something. After Axel interrupted his "almost kiss" with Yameli, Charly later approached Yameli and told her that they needed to end their "special" relationship since he needed to concentrate on his family. That was a complete 180! Then he had Axel follow her because he suspects there is something going on between Juanjo and Yameli...he didn't buy the fact that they were working in her apartment.

"The hardest scene to watch was Wendy trying to initiate something/anything, kissing Juanjo who lets her down as gently as possible. The hurt on her face radiates pain." ITA, though Wendy is not one of my favorite characters, she is going to have her bubble burst...a bubble that she is blowing up on her own because it should be obvious to her that Juanjo is just going through the expected motions of being a groom-to-be.

More tomorrow!

SILVIA #12 Tuesday 6/11/19

This is a short one tonight. : )

Silvia informs the viewer that the decade of the 60’s was marked by the “Cold War, the space race and the fight for civil rights.” Hippies were everywhere. Women were getting used to wearing pants.

Gus and Silvia’s marriage is on the rocks. He apologizes again for his extracurricular activities and wants to try again. Silvia wants a
divorce and gets one.

Livia has grown up to be a sexually active, alcohol drinking, cigarette smoking teenager who likes to blame her mother for never being there. Silvia admits to not being the best mother or the best example but reminds Livia that she has the life she does because her mother has been able to support her through her work, They argue on and off through out the episode and reconcile, too. Silvia tries to empower her daughter by reminding her that her body is her own and to never forget that. All Livia wants to do is marry Mike. Silvia is not in favor of it but in the end she says she will let her daughter have her reception at the house. Livia is 17.

In addition to her movies, Emilio wants Silvia to get involved in a variety show with interviews, comedy and music; something that had not been seen on TV before. They want to get the teenage heart throb “Felipe Román” (a pseudonym because the real person is still alive and decided not to be associated with the production) on the show but he is too expensive. At a party Silvia meets Felipe. They have a few drinks and he is into doing the show for free. He remembers the first time he saw Silvia in “La historia de un abrigo de mink” and his parents teased him that Silvia was his “novia”. When he is over at Silvia’s house working with her, Livia sees them flirting and tells her other that she knows what is going on and that Silvia way too old for Felipe. Felipe is 12 years younger than Silvia. The age difference doesn’t bother Felipe. He wants a real woman like Silvia. Romance is in the air. Soon Silvia’s show has turned into the “Silvia and Felipe Show”. Silvia’s clothes are not fitting and it turns out she is pregnant. Silvia is not necessarily happy knowing how hard it was being a parent to her two other children, Felipe is all excited. He wants a family and sees this as the perfect opportunity to get married.

What a trip hearing all of that 60’s music! Livia seemed like a typical teenager having all of the answers just like her mother Silvia did 17 years earlier. So how long will Felipe last? He is husband #3.

REINA

Oh Rgv Chick, thank you for recounting the all important information!

"Juanjo told her that she was never a vengeful person...and that was the essence of her being". Beautifully expressed.

I did think Yameli told Juanjo her plan but not necessarily exactly who she was. I was at least right in that regard. Then, I thought she had but he still seemed cool. The above explains it - she is who he thought she was but with a much harder exterior shell. It all makes sense now. And while living happily is the best revenge, I know that I could not erase her painful past either. So it wasn't the joyful reunion we might have expected but rather bittersweet.

And the fact Charly wanted to end their "special relationship" and have Yameli and Juanjo tailed shows he isn't a total idiot. I would imagine all those years spent with Monchis has his radar on alert. I wonder if the seed that they might be conspiring against him has germinated yet?

I imagine Wendy is being portrayed as not too terribly likeable as we know she won't end up with Juanjo (unfortunately I think the Jack ship has sailed). Still, it was hurt to watch. Indifference can be a very cruel cut.

Rgv Chick, thank you so much!

Diana

SILVIA

Thank you for the excellent synopsis Jarifa.

"Silvia tries to empower her daughter by reminding her that her body is her own". She was a woman who understood who and what she was, never relinquishing control. Important, invaluable advice to her daughter.

Still, it must have been hard growing up in Silvia's shadow. Having a mother who is headstrong, throwing caution to the wind constantly, doing everything a young daughter might want to emulate must certainly have been difficult.

Still, we know Silvia loves her children.

I doubt Felipe will last much longer. Call it a hunch! :)

Thank you so much Jarifa! This was grand.

Diana

Diana, you are a natural born writer. You should be doing this full-time. To start with, great title:
Love, lies, and longing

Pretty much encapsulates the story and all the characters. I have a lot of sympathy for Wendy. It's not her fault she fell in love with a man whose heart belongs to another. She had no way of knowing. And when we feel our dreams slipping away, we tried to hold on all the tighter. And our worst self emerges.

Other than the title, my favorite lines were "seeking solace in a wine glass"

"Serge is introduced to Vanesa and she is rather aloof. Erick starts an impromptu concert and everyone is moving and grooving. The cement on Vanesa’s face cracks a bit."

"Yameli relieves her stress with some serious yoga (not a pint of Ben & Jerry's in sight)

And your quip about Vanessa having "crow for breakfast"

Really perfect. As was Yameli's beautiful yoga poses. Enjoyed watching those healthy, flexible moves.

Haven't seen all of this but your recap was outstanding. Who needs Spanish? Thanks.

Sorry, that was REINA above.

And now SILVIA

Ay yi yi, painful episode. Another divorce, an angry teenager, accusations of poor mothering and now a new, seemingly inappropriate romance and marriage...and pregnancy. Well, at least Sylvia will not look back on her life and say What a bore!

Thanks Jarifa.

Diana, I agree how difficult it must have been for her children to grow up in the Silvia's shadow. I felt sorry for Livia when Silvia decided to hook up with a teenage heart throb so much younger than she. “Call it a hunch!” made me laugh.

JudyB, “¡Ay, ay, ay!” is right and Silvia keeps right on plowing ahead. If you ever take a look at the breadth and amount of Silvia’s work in Radio, TV, Cinema and Stage, it is mind boggling.

Cannot wait to see what awaits us tonight.

That was for SILVIA.

REINA

Judy, thank you so very much. I am truly appreciative of your support and kind words.

As usual, you've given me food for thought, today about Wendy: "It's not her fault she fell in love with a man whose heart belongs to another. She had no way of knowing. And when we feel our dreams slipping away, we tried to hold on all the tighter. And our worst self emerges".

What an impact your words had - you are totally spot on (as usual). They speak for themselves, especially when our hearts know the truth yet our self respect diminishes while our misplaced determination to hang on grows...

Thank you!

Diana

Busy day today , but I had to stop by the patio to express my thanks for the recaps. Everyone here rocks, especially our faithful, dedicated, talented, hard-working recappers....hugs and kisses to you all. I do appreciate having your words to distract me these days.

Diana, your recaps are so clever, informative, and fun to read. Michelle is doing a great job and....super flexible.

Jarifa....thank you. Sylvia certainly lived life on her own terms. I loved the footage of Mexico's version of the swinging 60s.

So...what would your life look like if it was put on the tv screen like Sylvia's? Who would like to play you?

Judyb= our resident wise woman. You always give us something to think about.

SILVIA

Susanlynn, I like your questions. I will have to think about who I would like to play me.

REINA and A BIT OF SYLVIA

Susanlynn, your words put a smile on my face - thank you so much. If I lightened the day a bit for anyone, then I am happy.

Your question about putting my life on TV is almost as challenging as who would play me. I am going to give this question some serious thought.

Diana

SILVIA

Jarifa, thanks for the stellar cliff notes. Painful episode indeed, JudyB!

Diana, "it must have been hard growing up in Silvia's shadow. Having a mother who is headstrong, throwing caution to the wind constantly, doing everything a young daughter might want to emulate must certainly have been difficult." I cannot imagine how difficult it must have been for Livia; she not only had to grow up in Silvia's shadow, but it seems she always came in second after Silvia's career.

REINA

JudyB, " I have a lot of sympathy for Wendy. It's not her fault she fell in love with a man whose heart belongs to another. She had no way of knowing. And when we feel our dreams slipping away, we tried to hold on all the tighter. And our worst self emerges." nPowerful words, and oh how so true!

REINA

Wendy knew all this time since their adolescence that Juanjo was in love with Yameli. She just moved in for the prey when they discovered she died in prison. She gets what she deserves, though Juanjo is at fault too for agreeing to settle with her in the first place. He was never truly happy with her. It still doesn't stop Wendy from calling off the wedding.

SILVIA

Is definitely not a role model for her daughter in the maternal department. Bringing in so many men over time into the house with the two underage daughters? And she wonders why Livia is being rebellious? Silvia has a thing for getting into relationships that obviously won't work. Her problem is she enjoys the attention she gets from men. She enjoys getting attention from everyone, really. Most likely the real reason she puts her daughters second. Or third actually. Because she has no time to mother, but has all the time in the world for her "romantic" liaisons, apparently.

"REINA":

Anon: I just flat out do NOT trust or even stand Wendy. That girl is one wicked BITCH.

REINA-SOY
Ep 24: Part 1 Innocence Lost, Only Resentment and Revenge Remain

Erick takes Lidia to their new apartment which he found on the internet; he promises that as long as she is with him, she will lack nothing. When he senses that Lidia is worried, Lidia admits that she worries that Charly will be looking for her and won’t be able to find her. Erick warns her that they can’t tell Charly anything. Lidia then offers to sell some of her jewelry to help with the costs; so Erick agrees if it will make her feel better.

Axel watches Yameli as she enters Juanjo’s studio. Later, he calls Charly and leaves a message that he thinks Charly is right about Lari having something going with Juanjo since she had told him that she was going home.

The psychiatrist gets tired of waiting for Charly and tells Vanesa and Diana that they need to start. Just then, Charly saunters in with a big smile. Vanesa and Diana cringe as he kisses them.

At the studio, Yameli finds Juanjo sitting and looking downhearted. When he asks her why she never responded to his letters, Yameli replies that she thought she was going to spend the rest of her life in prison; and she wanted to forget everything…she wanted to forget him, her great friend. Juanjo then wonders why she is set on destroying Monchis. When he insists that she is not a vengeful person, Yameli tells him that she is no longer the happy, innocent young girl he knew. She is not only there to capture Monchis, she is also there to make Charly pay for all he did to her…because Charly was the one who put the drugs in her bag…and they threatened to kill her grandmother if she talked. Yameli then tells Juanjo how she witnessed Charly holding up the hospital and shooting people. Her worst mistake was falling in love with Chalry; he used her in the worst way. She then confides that she had a baby while in prison; her grandmother was going to take care of it, but it died with her grandmother during the fire. Juanjo tries to hug her, but Yameli pushes him away; she doesn’t want his pity. She is going to be strong; and she is going to make Charly know the loneliness that she feels. She is going to take him from his family, his fame and his work. Once Charly has nothing, she will tell him who she is.

At the psychiatrist’s office, Charly remarks that they are there because of Vanesa, but Vanessa argues that they are there because of Chary who is selfish and has a problem with alcohol. She feels very disappointed…her parents are a lie. They pretend t be a happy family to appease the media, but that is a lie. Vanesa thinks that if it weren’t for her, her parents wouldn’t even talk to each other.

At the studio, Juanjo tries to advise Yameli to forget about Charly and to be happy because that us the best revenge, but Yameli can’t be happy because they have taken everything from her. She is disappointed that Juanjo doesn’t understand her. When Juanjo suggests that she let the law make Charly pay for what he did, Yameli points out that she has no evidence to prove what she has told Juanjo. If she doesn’t make Charly pay, then he will never pay. Erick then comes in.

At the psych’s office. The psych suggests that Charly and famly spend time together as a family.

Juanjo plays Erick’s tape and they make some adjustments. After Yameli makes some suggestions for changes in the lyrics, they all agree that the song will hit gold.

Charly listens to Axel’s message. Diana then suggests that they all go out to dinner; and Charly eventually agrees.

Ep 24: Part 2 Innocence Lost, Only Resentment and Revenge Remain

Erick tapes his revised song while Yamli and Juanjo listen and enjoy it. Afterwards, Yameli suggests that they make the video ASAP, but Juanjo wonders why Yameli is so rushed. Once alone, Yameli explains that they need to release the record before Chalry releases Chris’s song. Juanjo doesn’t like the idea because she is using info that Charly gave her against him. After Yameli asks if Juanjo thinks she is out of line, Juanjo argues that he only wants his old friend back—the one who thinks positively and can write a song on a whim…not this woman filled with resentment. Yameli then responds that this woman is full of resentments because of so many other things that she didn’t tell him because Erick arrived, She goes on to tell Juanjo that she believes Charly, along with Monchis, was the one who sent her to be killed. Juanjo still thinks that Yameli is not going to find peace through revenge, so Yameli continues that Monchis killed her parents.

Erick tells Lidia that they will be making the video for his song the next day. Afterwards, he tells her that he is no longer looking for his bio parents…it only brought him problems...and his only mother is standing right in front of him.

Charly and family are having dinner at home when Diana gets a call from Alberto, but she doesn’t answer so he leaves a message that Vanessa’s photos will be out the next day.

Wendy and Juanjo meet with the priest, but Juanjo’s mind is elsewhere…and Wendy knows it.

Monchis has Chente at gunpoint because he let Lidia and Erick get away from him. When Chente suggests that Monchis contact Charly to ask for Lidia, Monchis lowers the gun since Chente had a good idea.

Charly and family enjoy some quality time in the pool. When Monchis calls, Charly ignores him.

Next Day—

Juanjo and Yameli have auditions for dancers to include in Erick’s videos.

Diana talks to Alberto on the phone and tells him that what they are dong is not right. As Vanessa listens from behind a wall, Diana continues that needs him very much, but she can’t see him because Vanesa is not well…if it weren’t for Vanessa she wouldn’t be with Charly anymore…being with Charly is torture. Meanwhile, Axel and Chris look at Vanessa’s sensual photos when Chalry comes in and sees them. He has a fit and storms out.

Erick’s video is made in the barrio will all the dancers movin’ and grooving.’

Charly calls Diana and demands that she give him the contact info for the modeling agency, but Diana refuses. Charly doesn’t care because he can get it himself. On his way out, Cris approaches to ask about the release of his single, but Charly has no time for Cris and tells Axel to get his car.

Charly returns Monchis’ call. When Monchis demands that Charly find out what is going on with his mother and Erick, Charly barks back that Monchis needs to resolve his own problems… he has had enough. Monchis doesn’t take it very well and orders Chente to find his family. Chente quickly gets up and takes Skull with him.

Juanjo and Yameli are still in the barrio with Erick. After Serg leaves, Erick asks what is going on with them because he’s no dummy. Yameli replies that they have come to a decision; she can no longer work with them.

SILVIA #13/#14 Wednesday 6/12/19

Well, it is slice and dice time so they can finish this up on next Tuesday.

Here are the highlights from tonight’s slice and dice double header:

Silvia marries Felipe amid the cries and cheers of his teenage fans. Silvia has another baby girl.

Silvia and Felipe have a successful TV variety show.

She and Felipe build a house in Acapulco.

Silvia is pregnant in no time again. Livia is pregnant at the same time. Silvia’s baby is a boy this time. Livia has a girl.

Felipe feels a need to get back to his musical career which he seems to have let go.

Their TV show lasts four years.

Silvia notices that Felipe has changed with time and not for the good. He is interested in other things. He wants to reconnect with his public. Silvia knows that his public hates her. They think of her as an old lady.

Silvia thinks she must have done something wrong and plans to work on her marriage. She decides to surprise Felipe at work just to find him making out with some young thing. He insists it was the president of his fan club with a sad family story and he was just consoling her. Silvia doesn’t buy it.

She breaks her friendship with her best friend Sonia when Sonia tries to tell her the truth about her cheating husband.

Silvia tells the viewer that she realizes she was isolating herself and allowing Felipe to make everything her fault. Those were not signs of a good marriage.

Felipe even starts to interfere with Silvia’s work. He is jealous of everyone and everything. He is drinking to excess.

Felipe starts cheating on Silvia in her own house when she is away at work with a friend of hers. He threatens the maid with firing her is she tells on him. The maid does tell Merilú what is going on and she tells Silvia.

Silvia tells the viewer that the same happened with Gus. Her self esteem was also worn down. Felipe made her feel guilty for working.

Felipe starts making jealous scenes at Silvia’s work.

Silvia is determined to make this marriage work.

Felipe has started to physically abuse Silvia. We see him grab her by her hair and slap her.

"REINA":

RGV Chick: Sounds like Yameli's revenge plan is still going ahead. She doesn't care who it hurts even if it means Erick becomes collateral damage.

"SILVIA":

Jarifa: I cringed watching Silvia being viciously abused by Felipe. It was stomach churning.

REINA

Rgv Chick, what an excellent job you did with all of last night’s pivotal events! And you put the cherry on this delicious concoction with “Innocence Lost, Only Resentment and Revenge Remain” which was indeed picture perfect.

Sensational, start to finish.
“Erick takes Lidia to their new apartment which he found on the internet; he promises that as long as she is with him, she will lack nothing”. God bless practically penniless Erick. Such pure intentions. What was frightening to me was that Erick and Lidia did not only not move to another county - but not even a different zip code! They know what monster Monchis is capable of. Do they think a ride across town will protect them?

“Vanesa and Diana cringe as he kisses them”. Charly is as alone as Yameli is in his own way. She has no one to love her and he has no one who wants to love him.

I have no real feelings about Chris one way or the other but he is another innocent bystander in this as Yameli wants to railroad any chance of his success in order to get Erick’s music out first.

And Juanjo, staring into space during the visit with the priest, while Wendy turned her head, all too well knowing what he was thinking was hard to watch.

“Juanjo argues that he only wants his old friend back—the one who thinks positively and can write a song on a whim…not this woman filled with resentment”. To me, part of the TN magic is the strong, unbreakable love and trust that binds couples together. Juanjo is looking into a mirrored past, utilizing selective memory and remembering a kindness that has now been ripped out of Yameli’s soul through no fault of her own “Juanjo still thinks that Yameli is not going to find peace through revenge, so Yameli continues that Monchis killed her parents”. Hope diminishes…

I am curious as to how and if Yameli and Juanjo will end up together. Now, it seems unlikely and utterly improbably. While in TN “speak” that means it will probably happen, we, the audience must be behind the coupling. Frankly, I can’t say I am, at least not now.

I am relieved not to be in the path of either Monchis or Charly. Even Monchis henchies are frightened of him, and with good reason. He is the devil incarnate. Charly seems relatively cowardly but we are seeing a flicker of determination in him wanting to deal with anyone hurting Vanesa. I would book a ticket to anywhere if I were Alberto.

Incredible Rgv Chick. Thank you!

Diana

reina-soy

Thank you, Rgv Chick.

I am glad Yamelí revealed herself to Juanjo. Yes, it was prompted by his suspicions, but in the end she could have left it at DEA agent. However, seeing Juanjo's disappointment and afraid to lose him was too much for her. Now Juanjo is learning what happened to his old friend. "Innocence Lost, Only Resentment and Revenge Remain" - perfect description Rgv Chick.

SILVIA

Jarifa, thank you for noting the highs and lows of this troublesome episode - and doing it oh so well.

I did not see all of this and mercifully missed the scene where Felipe hit Silvia.

"Silvia thinks she must have done something wrong and plans to work on her marriage". Why do we as women generally feel everything that goes awry is our fault? Here is a successful woman, an entrepreneur ahead of her time and yet, she feels the blame is hers. Her men have resented her accomplishments and frankly were jealous of her success. She has not chosen wisely and has not learned from her mistakes.

This series has been engrossing, powerfully acted and thought provoking. The acting - superior. I will be sad to see it end although I am away next week and will miss the finale.

Thanks again Jarifa!

Diana

SILVIA

Diana, thanks. These combo episodes seem to end up being more just a series of events devoid of any supporting action. : ( I am liking this so much more than I thought I would have and think 21 episodes should have been just perfect. As for the era of SILVIA, it wasn’t easy back in those days where there was a lot more pressure on women to get married to be more fully accepted in society. Silvia mentioned that last night or in the episode before. I remember the term “old maid” when I was a kid and realizing “married” was the desired state for women. Being single was viewed as something “less.” Sorry you will miss the finale.

REINA SOY

Thank you so much , Chickie, for that excellent , detailed recap. It seems to me that Yami has never been as attracted to Juanjo as he has always been to her.Yamiseems to still regard Juanjo as only a beloved friend. Right now , she is focused on revenge, not romance . Maybe Juanjo 's love will remain unrequited and Jack will be the one Yami ends up with.

Charley sitting on the arm of the sofa at the psychiatrist's's office ???How old does he think he is in his leggings and artsy shirts ? What a portrait of a spoiled maNchild.I

SYLVIA

Thank you thank you , Jarifa. SYLVIA 's string of fractured love affairs and marriages makes me appreciate my beloved hub and our happy marriage even more than I already did.

only in the 60s and rainy today .

REINA-SOY

Thank you, Diana and Lucio!

Diana, "Charly is as alone as Yameli is in his own way. She has no one to love her and he has no one who wants to love him." Well stated. unfortunately Charly refuses to see or admit just how lonely he is or how miserably his values are messed up. Yameli has someone who is willing to love her, but she has built this iron wall around her with only one objective--to destroy those who wronged her. So Steve, yes, Yameli continues with her plan. I'm not sure Juanjo will be strong enough or patient enough to help tear down that wall. He is stuck in the past and if he doesn't get past that he will lose Yameli forever, but you, Diana, said it best, "Juanjo is looking into a mirrored past, utilizing selective memory and remembering a kindness that has now been ripped out of Yameli’s soul through no fault of her own."

Lucio, I do sense that a bit of the Yameli Juanjo remembers is yearning to peak out and grab onto the one person she knows she can trust...thus the revelation as to who she really was. I just hope that Juanjo treads carefully because if he pushes too hard, Yameli will run.

Wendy really needs to take a good hard look at her future. She knows Juanjo is not with her on the marriage, so why torture him as well as herself. So far she doesn't seem to be the vindictive, conniving snake that usually emerges when there is a threat of losing her man. I hope she bows out quietly and finds someone who will love her the way she deserves to be loved.

Sorry I posted twice. I was trying to multitask...a bad habit of mine.

SILVIA

Jarifa, thank you for the recap! I missed the episode last night and probably will miss the remaining ones. I'm so glad you are recapping this; at least I'll know how the story ends.

In a way. I'm glad I didn't see the episode last night. I agree with Diana, "Her men have resented her accomplishments and frankly were jealous of her success. She has not chosen wisely and has not learned from her mistakes." And what's makes it worse is that this is a true story; if was "just a TN" I think I could tolerate all the ugliness.

Thanks again, Jarifa, you are a gem of a recapper!

No problem, Susanlynn, I took care of it for you. BTW, You were truly blessed to find the love of your life and to have such a happy marriage. I think of you often and you are still in my prayers.

SILVIA

Susanlynn, Silvia sure seems to attract the wrong sort of guy over and over again. 🤔

RgvChick, the fact that this is a true story does make it more sobering. These last few episodes should be fascinating showing how Silvia continues on to still be active in the industry today.

REINA

Rgv Chick, you write the best titles. I always struggle with that. Still a bit annoyed that both Juanjo and Jack feel free to preach when and how Yameli should forgive and forget. Manage your own lives boys! Juanjo especially has some untended business.

SILVIA

Wow. Depressing is right. We can't say "just a story, just a story" when things go sour. But I was happy to see that Silvia and her first-born daughter are now compatible, and both with newborns. Lord knows Silvia not only finds romance quickly but is fertile as the Nile.

It's a shame that Univision is slicing and dicing the episodes because Carla Estrada and Monica Miguel do tremendous work and I hate seeing it badly edited. But they didn't ask me! Thanks Jarifa.

Does anyone know anything about "Love Eterna?" I saw a promo for it last night.

JudyB, this one was only 21 episodes long to begin with. Go figure!
