"El secreto de Selena" was one of the upcoming shows they threw out tonight.

La Reina del Sur2 - Capítulo 39 - Parte 1 de 2
Cayetana remembers singing in French while Teo accompanied her on the piano. She tells him that she's going to Mexico to get Sofia. This will be her revenge on Teresa for killing him.
In Palermo, Teresa is walking with Chaib. Apparently he has organized a meeting with the Italians, and everything is all set. Zurdo apologizes to Teresa for being such a jerk the night before. She tells him there's nothing to forgive. Francesco (from now on FLEM) is watching all this from afar.
In Culiacán, Jimena calls Ray. He answers by saying her name. She's surprised he knows who's calling, because she never gave him her phone number. He tells her he's been thinking of her and would like to see her again. They talk about love at second sight. She says how about tonight. He has to work, but suggests the next evening, at the bar El Submarino. She's delighted.
Zurdo notices that Teresa seems nervous. She admits that she is, since she's been away from the business for a while. He tells her it's like riding a bicycle, once you know how, you don't lose the skill.
Teresa's crew are going to be watching her every move, thanks to modern technology. Oleg tells Ray to make sure that everything is in order.
Teresa and Zurdo arrive, followed by the others in the crew. The cars are swept for bombs before being permitted to enter the grounds of a huge estate belonging to Don Rossellini, who greets Teresa warmly. She introduces Zurdo and Sanchez Godoy.
FLEM calls Alejandro and reports that Teresa is about to negotiate with the Italians. Ale tells him to keep his eyes on Teresa at all times. Nothing must happen to her. [Which of course is Viewerville's signal that something will.]
Danilo hears Alejandro's part of the conversation. He asks who Lupo is, and who is Teresa. Alejandro doesn't answer his questions but tells him that this is connected to the campaign.
Ray activates the camera. Teresa enters the room where the negotiations will take place. About a dozen men from a number of different countries are already seated around a table. She explains to Zurdo (and Viewerville) who some of the people are. She asks the men whether it's OK for her to speak in Italian. One of them asks for English, so she proceeds in English. She tells them that "we're here to propose the best deal of a lifetime." She explains who her associates are, what they do and bring to the table. "We want to join with you to build the biggest organization in the world." Agreement is quickly reached.
Conejo watches and notes that one guy wearing a white Turkish head covering is not happy about a woman leading the group. Oleg says he doesn't know who the guy is. He tells Ray to ID him. Ray starts up his database, which apparently is huge and takes a while.
Don Rossellini says that in his 65 years of life, he never thought he'd see a woman at the head of such an organization. But times are changing, and we need to change with the times. The camera shifts momentarily to the unsmiling Turkish guy.
La Reina del Sur2 - Capítulo 39 - Parte 2 de 2
Now that the negotiations are completed, Chaib is about to leave. Teresa thanks him profusely. It's clear that he's crazy about her. He kisses her and leaves.
A lavish outdoor party begins, complete with music, dancers in folk costumes, lots of food and drink, etc. Zurdo asks Teresa about the mystery man in the Turkish white hat. Teresa goes over to him to find out who he is. She says that nothing she said seemed to please him. He tells her that he'd like to talk with her about a project. She says that she doesn't even know who he is, where he's from, what he does. He tells her that he'd like to talk to her discreetly, away from the crowd. She indicates to Anton that he shouldn't follow her [Teresa, are you brain dead?]. As the Turk and she walk, he tells her his name is Jamal Alkalam, he's Turkish, and though they've never met before, she has met his son, Tarek Alkalam. "You remember him, don't you?" Several guys appear out of nowhere, grab Teresa, and put her in a large van, and they drive off.
FLEM has been watching all this. He immediately gets into his car and starts to follow the van.
Ray finally gets a hit from the database. Oleg looks aghast. "No, that's not possible!" [OK folks, at this point I have to confess that I'm quite confused about the Turk. Since he accuses Teresa of having killed his son ten years ago, and since Teo Aljarafe has the same initials as Tarek Alkalam, I wondered whether somehow Teo could have been the guy's son. But that seems too far fetched. Later, there's some talk of Tarek's having sent some boy's finger to Teresa, and I remembered that some bad guys, who I think may have been Turks, had captured Fatima's son Mohammed in Reina1, cut off his finger, and sent it to the boy's mother, Teresa's close friend Fatima. And then Oleg says "They're going to kill her, like they killed Fatima and her son." He also says that "I had the Turk's son killed in order to save Teresa." So I guess the writers have dredged up that plot element from Reina1 and made this Turkish guy try to take revenge for the death of his good-for-nothing, cruel, murderous son. The Turk tells Teresa that once she dies, his wife will speak to him again (she hasn't spoken to him since their son died) and the son will enter Paradise [no comment].
Things aren't looking good. Two women come into the room where an unconscious Teresa lies on the floor. They remove all her jewelry, including the necklace that acted as a transmitter. Oleg and the others are therefore not able to continue to monitor what's happening. Oleg tells Ray to review all the feed that they have, since they may have missed something. Sure enough, Paloma (I think) spots another person in the video feed: FLEM, watching with binoculars. And now he's continuing to follow the van. When it stops, he stops further back and again watches with his binoculars. It looks as if he may do more than just watch. But it looks as if we'll have to wait until Thursday to find out. On Wednesday, all three novelas are being preempted by fútbol.
Oops, just to clarify, there will be no novelas on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week, because of fútbol.
Another oops: in part 1, I said "Teresa and Zurdo arrive, followed by the others in the crew." I think that's wrong. The only people allied with Teresa who came to Don Rossellini's were Zurdo, Sanchez Godoy, Chaib, Anton (her bodyguard), and one of Zurdo's men (Lencho?). The rest of the crew (Oleg, Conejo, Ray, etc.) were back at "headquarters," where they were monitoring what was going on.
I might also note that just as Teresa had a momentary lapse in sanity that made it possible for her to go off with the Turkish stranger without Anton, so Anton had a lapse that resulted in his leaving his cell phone on a table as he was having fun at the party. Thus, when Oleg tried frantically to call Anton to alert him to what was happening, Anton did not immediately answer the call. I'm not sure how two normally careful and savvy people were affected almost simultaneously with brain rot. And, as you can probably tell from the recap, some of it got to me, too. :-)
Ack! Thanks for the heads up. Luckily I’m behind by several days so maybe it won’t hurt so much!
Not related to anything, just want to say I’m going to refer to The White House as the Mexican version of Los Pinos from now on. Ha
thanks so much Juanita, that was a tough story to recap, a new plot with little details!
I suppose Paloma is going to flip when she hears of Ray's date.
and Sofia is plotting.
I thought they were going to fake the business end for Zurdo, but these were real people, the heavy hitters of the world, and Teresa made a real proposal, once she saves Sofia what will she do then, "sorry guys, just kidding".
interesting that Sheila broke the news of Teresa's kidnapping, at Teresa's first meeting with Zurdo, she told Anton not to talk so they won't hear his accent, I guess that still applies.
I was waiting for Lupo to pop the bad guys with a giant sniper rifle, nope, then chase them in his fancy red sports car, nope, he carjacked one, but now what will he do, it looked like the Turk had a small army, I was waiting for Oleg to call him.
hmm, I think Oleg made it clear, that Francesco shouldn't be knowing about Teresa's business dealings.
Thanks so very much, Juanita, for the excellent recap! That was way more than a short recap.
Cayetana sounds like Édith Piaf when she sings in French. I’m pretty sure she has zero interest in giving Sofía affection, and the child would grow up like Paloma and Rocío – getting all their affection from Charo. It’s all about revenge.
Ray is an idiot. Why in the world would he invite Jimena to El Submarino? Not only has he been making out with Paloma (unclear if there has been actual sex), he urged her not to have an abortion which could be interpreted as being a father to the kid. I’m pretty sure Paloma has been working at the bar.
I’m mad at the writers for their apparent ignorance of classic Italian cinema. How dare they name a narco Roberto Rossellini, the name of the creator of neo-realism in Italian films and influencer of a whole generation of European filmmakers? I especially remember Roma, Cittá Aperta with Anna Magnani.
Juanita, I also needed the detail of the cut off finger to remember the awful fate of Fátima and Mohamed.
Of course Teresa is safer than I am during my commute on the California freeways. It’s hard for my heart rate to go up with the threats of beheading when I know there’s so much more of the novela still to be shown. And, didn’t Oleg mention something about immolation? So, burning and then beheading?
I can’t figure out how Lupo/Francesco is going to justify his mad skills in the rescue attempt that is sure to take place. Even Oleg said that their hopes rested on Francesco.
Deb, you and I are on the same page; i.e., confused about how Teresa is going to exit from this “world domination” group after she messes Zurdo up. I suppose she could presumably go through with the whole drug operation and then steal everything from Zurdo. But they are going to want ongoing deals, and Teresa doesn’t have Willy to get her into witness protection any more.
Juanita, thanks for keeping us on track with the marvy recap and remembering the Turk related plot line from season one. That really helps this all make sense. “Teresa, are you brain dead?” sums up this episode perfectly. All in all, Teresa doesn’t seem as sharp as she should be this season. Maybe her character is out of “mental shape” after all these years in Italy. I probably have said this before.
I agree with the comments everyone has already made.
Nope, Ray is not too smart. He should have been GONE after his dalliance with Paloma.
novelera, ah, the cinema of Rossellini! Édith Piaf! It was nice to be reminded of them.
deb, you are right that Sofía never stops plotting.
blockhead, I agree about novela withdrawal. It can be hard to find a good one and especially one as good as this.
I hope Danilo doesn’t decide to play detective. Poor guy doesn’t know who he fell in love with.
They should put Zurdo in charge of getting Teresa back. He is more ruthless than FLEM and probably is more on par with the Turks since Oleg is not there.
Thanks, everyone, for your great comments! Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. Yesterday was taken up with root canal in the morning, sleeping in the afternoon, and enduring a rather disappointing opera in the evening. And then, to make matters worse, there was no Reina episode to record and watch when I got back. Sigh. Blockhead, your "serious novela withdrawl" describes well what I'm feeling now. I don't want to think about how I'll feel when this novela ends!
deb and novelera, add me to the list of people wondering how Teresa is going to extract herself from all this once she gets Sofia back. I loved your "sorry guys, just kidding," deb.
And yes, novelera, Ray is definitely an idiot, and an insensitive one to boot, for planning to bring Jimena to El Submarino. Also, I too found it bizarre that the narco boss is named Roberto Rossellini. I wondered whether there was another side to the great Italian film director Rossellini that I hadn't heard about, so I asked my friend Google. Nope.
Jarifa, yes, Teresa seems to be less sharp now than she was in Reina1. And yes, you may have said it before, but I fear you and the rest of us may have more opportunities to say it again before this novela ends. :-(
Man, is this a great show or what?!
Thanks for the great recap, Juanita. And thanks to everyone for the helpful comments. I didn't see the first season of Reina del Sur so I really appreciate getting the backstory on the Turkish guy and all that.
Add me to the list of people who cannot believe that Teresa would walk out of sight of the partygoers, sans bodyguard, with a man she doesn't know and who she can be sure is a major criminal!
Back in Mexico, is Ray just being a clueless jerk, or is he actually up to something clever and useful? (I don't know what it would be.)
I hope Danilo doesn't find out too much about what Alejandro is up to and make Alejandro think about killing him. We all worried about him on that rooftop and in the helicopter a few episodes back. If Danilo finds out too much, I wonder what Ale will do?
Futbol, futbol. I missed the first 15 or so episodes of LRDS2 so I think I'll take this opportunity to find them online and start watching them.
Lynne
Thanks a bunch, Juanita.
Finally, I'm thinking FLEM can make up for the harm he's done. If he can get Teresa out of this mess, he deserves a happy ever after.
I too thought the bigwigs were fake, not really cartel heads. What was Chaib thinking?
"Operación pacífico"
"telemundo's new and ambitious superseries is about to begin recording in Colombia."
Majida Issa (Diabla from SSSHP) together with Mark Tacher (Alejandro in LRDS2) will be the main characters.
Johanna Fadul (Diabla's daughter in SSSHP) will also be in this one.
"inspired by the true story of federal agent Amalia Ortega"
"will tell the story of Amalia Ortega (Majida Issa), a prominent and brilliant federal agent of the secret investigation unit of the National Police, who has the mission and the personal objective of capturing 'El Guapo', "to achieve this, Amalia must infiltrate not only the drug trafficking networks, but also the networks of corruption at the highest levels of power in her country, playing out her own life and that of her family."

I'll do a recap tonight and try to remember to repeat this when the second page of the week comes up.
