LA REINA DEL SUR 2 – JUEVES – Parte 1 de 2

First a rant. What’s up with Telemundo running the previous novela past the hour? Today it was 7 minutes of Betty before Reina began. I believe it was 2 or 3 minutes another time. If I miss the end of an episode because my DVR can keep time and Telemundo can’t, I’m gonna be LIVID!

OK. One other thing. After the last episode that we saw, a commenter said that Chaib had set up the whole thing in Italy. And that all those men around the table were just scamming Zurdo. Was that ever said explicitly? If so, it went right by me.

Tonight the first thing we see is Tarek’s mother Umat with some beads. Muslims have beads like Catholics? Jamal comes in and tells his wife that they have the Mexican.

Teresa wakes up from the injection with a metal collar around her neck. She’s chained to a pillar. There’s a mirror in the room and she sees that she has on a vest with explosives. She starts struggling to try to free herself, gasping with fear.

Lupo is approaching Jamal’s property. He creates a weapon by tying a rope around a big rock. He bashes one guy and then wraps the rope around another’s neck.

At the villa of Rossellini, Anton speaks! He tells Zurdo and Faustino that Jamal, the father of Tarek has Teresa. Faustino says that Teresa has minutes to live and they speed off.

Lupo kills 3 or 4 more guys, shooting some of them. [And no one inside hears this?]

Oleg calls Lupo asking what the Mexican crew can do to help him.

Umat comes in to tell Teresa that the Koran gives her the right to kill because she is the one harmed by her son’s death. Teresa says she’s read the Koran and there is forgiveness in it. Umat says that what Teresa did made her mute. [Neither Umat nor Jamal seem to extend Teresa the same right; their son killed her loved ones. Using their vision of the Koran, Teresa had the right to kill Tarek. ]

Jamal gives Umat the detonator. Teresa begs for her life, saying she has to save her daughter.

Somehow that necklace is in the room with Teresa, and the gang in Mexico can see her. She thanks them, tells them she loves them, and begs them to save Sofía. And for Oleg to make Sofía disappear forever. And she tells them to turn off the system so they won’t have to watch her die.

Lupo gets in. She begs him again and again to leave. He’s struggling to get the vest off her.

Apparently Oleg could track Lupo, and Anton has led Zurdo, Faustino, and the rest to the Turk’s hideout. Faustino looks at all the guards there and calls them un ramillete de gonorreas (bunch of …you get the rest).

LA REINA DEL SUR 2 – JUEVES – Parte 2 de 2

Umat pushes the detonator. Inside we see that there’s 3 minutes until the bomb goes off.

[Has anyone ever seen a movie or a TV show with one of those timers with LED numbers going backwards where it DOESN’T go way below 20 seconds before the miracle rescue?]

Lupo shows off his mad skills. He shoots off what holds the metal collar, freeing Teresa. They run out and the bomb explodes. Her friends in Mexico think she’s blown up because the screen goes black.

Zurdo is ready to go kill an army of Turks. Jamal and Umat get on prayer rugs.

Before the two even get out of the house, Teresa is asking Lupo how he could have done what he did, getting past all those guards. Lupo calls Zurdo and tells him it’s time.

Umat wants Teresa’s remains spread all over because she believes this would prevent Teresa from going to heaven. Just then Zurdo, Faustino, Lencho, and Anton make their move. Somehow Zurdo and Faustino grab Jamal and Umat and point guns at their heads. Teresa comes into the open and Jamal and Umat are aghast. Teresa tells them it wasn’t written. Jamal orders his men to fire, but somehow our Mexican and Colombian heroes kill all the Turks while some baroque music plays.

Zurdo gets Jamal and Umat on their knees and tells Jamal that even the genie in the lamp can’t save him from this. Teresa tries to get them to make peace in exchange for their lives, but Zurdo blows their brains out.

Teresa is furious. She says that Zurdo didn’t respect her as an associate. Zurdo then turns on Lupo, telling him he’s more cabrón que bonito. He’s obviously jealous, but he’s suspicious that Lupo could have done all that. Faustino calls him The Terminator. Teresa also wonders how he could have done all that. Lupo replies that he was in the Italian army, in Afghanistan. Two years in hell prepares you for lots of things. When Zurdo rants some more, Lupo simply says he followed Teresa to make sure nothing happened to her.

Epifanio Vargas shows up to ream out Carmen for her visit to Bebita’s wedding dress fitting. After some threats, he’s on his way out, but sees Willy Rangel’s business card there. He comes back in to rant some more. Carmen tells him Willy is dead. And Virginia explains that when they tried to call Willy, a man answered saying he was dead.

Danilo and Alejandro are in bed. Danilo’s asleep. Apparently Vargas has come to tell him Willy is dead. Ale insists he had nothing to do with it. [And his nose doesn’t even grow.]

Carmen calls Jonathan about Epifanio’s visit. Jonathan is watching Manuela through binoculars. He sees Erick Sheldon and a couple of bodyguards approach. Jonathan muses to himself that she hasn’t left the DEA and is on a secret mission for his boss.

Cayetana is cleaning all Rocío’s vampire posters. She doesn’t want Sofía to see this stuff when she brings her home from Mexico. The phone rings. It’s Zurdo’s ex calling about the message Renata said she found in a bottle. Cayetana calls her Sudaca, says someone got her phone number from an employee’s agenda (Lupo told her this.).

Teresa bids farewell to Lupo. She begs him that, if anything happens to her, he should find Oleg and join with him to find Sofía.

Thanks so much, novelera, for this wonderful recap! I found it very puzzling that Oleg et al. were once again able to see and hear what was going on. Your explanation that the necklace was somehow placed in the room where Teresa was chained helped explain how that was possible. I guess the Turks were going to destroy not only Teresa but also everything that belonged to her. Did we ever see that the jewelry was in the room?

Good question about what Chaib did or didn't do. I think the original plan was that the people were just to pretend to go along with Teresa's plan for an immense empire. However, somewhere along the way, I had the feeling it had morphed into something real. A fake plan would make more sense, but would all those high-powered narcos go along with pretending just to please Chaib? I dunno.

I liked your point that if the Koran gives Jamal and Utum the right to kill Teresa, then it would also give Teresa the right to kill them since their son killed people very dear to her.

I thought it was foolish of Teresa to beg for her life because her daughter needs her, given the fact that Jamal and Utum see her as responsible for killing their son. I felt that her pleading because of her daughter would only serve to enrage them more.

I loved Sanchez Godoy. We know the world is nuts when he's the sane one! He was fed up with Zurdo's "my war was bigger than your war," and though I didn't catch his words, his gestures seemed to suggest that he was likening that to "my you-know-what is bigger than your you-know-what."

To be honest, though I normally opt for peaceful resolutions, I was glad that Zurdo killed Jamal and Utum. My feeling was that no matter what they might promise, they would eventually continue to pursue Teresa.

I was surprised that Charo was afraid to answer the phone, but then I saw Rocio's really eerie skull-shaped phone. I bet Sofia would love it! Too bad Cayetana threw it away.

BTW, I may not have been paying sufficient attention, but I didn't notice that Betty in NY ran 7 minutes over. I wonder whether that was true only for the East Coast showing. ??

Thanks, Juanita. The recap was fantastic. I always enjoy your commentary.

I get the East Coast transmission and after a few minutes of Betty, decided to watch something else. A seven minute delay is long. I wonder what caused the backup.

Too funny: I have never heard “gonorrea” used quite in the way Zurdo uses it. I simply love the colorful language.

Juanita, I agree with you that the plan seems to have morphed into something real. As a matter of practicality, I think there would be far too many people to trust to keep the secret if they were running a scam at that level. I also think that Zurdo did the right thing shooting Jamal and Ulum. Zurdo did Teresa a favor and saved her from herself as well as two enemies. Yes, with Zurdo and FLEM together there are one too many roosters in that barnyard. (Trying to conserve the feeling if the scene) : ) At least Godoy could diffuse the situation.

Alejandro was petting Danilo’s head like he was a dog. Give me a break!

deb, thanks for all of the info on upcoming shows and the gran final date.

How I hope Zurdo’s Ex tells him all about the note that Renata found.

Uh oh! Teresa calls FLEM “increíble, casi de mentiras”. Oh well, this could all end with a “happily ever after”, I guess.

CORRECTION: THANKS TO NOVELERA!

I can do a recap of tonight’s episode but it will not be up until tomorrow afternoon some time.

TELEMUNDO

Hi, All! Dropped in for a quick visit. deb, I'll try to put something up on the proximas (Coming Soon...) page this week-end regrading Preso No. 1. If you don't mind. I'll use what you wrote.

Keep on commenting, everyone! Have a wonderful day and a great week-end!

TELEMUNDO

Oops I'm not regrading Preso No. 1 LOL that should be "regarding"

reina-sur2

Juanita, yes, they showed the necklace on a chair or something, the one with the big stone in it, when Teresa was chained up. That was the one Teresa was wearing during the big meeting at the villa. Oleg and the others were able to watch the other attendees, and Oleg was immediately suspicious of Jamal.

The generic muslim women made a point of taking off Teresa's jewelry after she was unconscious, in a sort of ritualistic manner. I was surprised to see the necklace in the same room, expecting they planned to sell her jewelry. But I'm sure the writers had the jewelry be about to be blown up for dramatic effect, so Teresa could bid farewell to her gang.

Reina 2

wow, wonderful recap Novelera!

I watched the west coast feed and it was all normal, maybe the futbol game ran over on the east coast time?

so when Lupo shows up, saying he followed her, Teresa jumped to the conclusion that he was jealous, of course his military expertise got her thinking later.

there seems to be some confusions from the earlier show,

when the Muslim girls came in and took off Teresa's jewelry they were placed on a table in the room and the necklace ended up propped up against something.

and Jamal explained to Teresa that the Koran's justification of what he was doing didn't work for her because Fatima and her son were not her blood relatives.

Lupo's gun had a silencer on it is how everyone didn't hear, interesting that he shot everyone he knocked out as well, very efficient.

and yes, Anton Speaks!, and even talked russian to Oleg on the phone.

yes Zurdo wanted to walk right in and kill everyone, it was Faustino that was pulling back on his reins, because they were instructed to wait for the call from the italiano.

Jamal, if we remember was an active working part of the group that Teresa was dealing with and as such would have been a major liability if he had lived.

I think a key part of the show was when Francesco and Teresa were hopeless seconds before the bomb exploded, expressing their love, and she said to him that just before death a person's eyes never lie.

Rgv Chick

yes, feel free to use anything I post.

you may want to go back to the sources I quoted. The Gran Final date for LRDS2 is based on the Telemundo announcement of the start of Preso no1 on the following day in the same time slot, which is now in the promo.

on the back story of Preso no1 since I don't speak spanish I was confused by the word "su" as to exactly who each went looking for, maybe you could clarify that.

reina-sur2

A couple of things. Yes, I record the East Coast feed from DirecTV, which begins at 7:00 here in Califas. This gets me recapping at a more civilized hour! Apparently the West Coast feed doesn't have this spill-over from Betty happening lately.

I'm re-thinking my remark in my recap about Alejandro having lied to Epifanio about what happened to Willy Rangel. The gist of Epi's late night visit, wherein Ale was terrified he'd somehow know that Danilo was in his bed, was concern about a DEA agent having been killed during his presidential campaign.

Ale probably was telling the truth. He arranged the killing of the priest by Manuela to get Carmen out of the picture. And he arranged with Manuela to get rid of Edgar, Danilo's pesky cousin.

But the hit on Willy by Manuela was arranged by Erick Sheldon because Willy just couldn't stop going after Vargas. We still don't know why Sheldon seems to want Vargas to win, but I now doubt that Alejandro had anything to do with that.

La Reina 2

ah yes novelera,

confusing, and as I recall it, Sheldon did tell Manuela to take care of Willy, but afterward Agent Kira reported to Agent Ale, mission accomplished, where he tacked on the side job of Edgar.

reina-sur2

Thanks, deb, for your magnificent memory. So Ale WAS lying to Epifanio!

Reina-sur-2

Thanks, Novelera. Terrific. Loved Zurdo's gonorrhea line. I didn't miss it because of you.

I too felt Zurdo was right. Teresa wanted peace with this couple, but she'd have to worry about them coming at her through her daughter if they had lived.

Carmen cracked me up. She grabbed a knife in a rage against Epifanio, then she seemed startled about it and put it down.

I'm finally on Team Lupo, but really Teresa should be more curious about him now.

Deb, thanks for the info on El Dragon. I will have to check it out. The Japanese angle pulls me in.

TELEMUNDO

Thanks, deb. I'll check out the source you quoted. BTW, there is a description of "El Ultimo Dragon" on the "Coming Soon page :-)

LA REINA DEL SUR # 41 Friday 6/21/19 Part 1

Back on the island. Lupo is lighting the candles on Sofía’s birthday cake as they both sing Happy Birthday in Italian. Sofía’s birthday wish is that everything Lupo told her about her mother turns out to be true. After Sofía blows about the candles.Lupo says her wish is now true because everything he told her was true to begin with. Sofía smiles with joy. Lupo leaves for another gift. It is a uniform like the one she wore in her flag waving performance squad. She asks if her mom bought it.He says no but she should imagine that she bought it for her because her mom is thinking about her and wishing her a happy birthday. Sofía smiles.Lupo has also included the flag that she won with in the championship with this year. He wraps her in it and says there is one condition. She has to show him how to wave of course it like she does. She will.

At the Submarino, Teresa has told the team the tale of what happened. Conejo says not even the Count of Monte Cristo went through all that (shout out to Season 1 and Pati O’farrell) . Sheila thinks that out of it all the best story is Teresa’s love story with the Italian. Teresa brings back the focus to them having gotten the job done with El Zurdo having fallen hook, line and sinker. They have to get on with the plan so she can get her daughter back ASAP. Ray excuses himself to go check out something he saw on the surveillance cameras.

REINA Part 2

Oleg tells Teresa it was an honor when Teresa thought she was at her end and she asked him to look after her daughter. Teresa gives him a teary smile and tells him she has blind faith in him. He smiles and asks about the Italian. Teresa says there is no comparison. She doesn’t really know anything about him; that he was in the military. Oleg agrees but says she has to give him credit for saving her life. A beaten down Teresa answers asking if this anguish she is going through is life. Oleg tries to convince her that today her daughter is thinking about her more than ever.Tersa recounts how each year she would take her daughter back to the place where she decided to be born, down to the sea where her birth changed her forever. Sobbing Teresa is desperate not knowing where she is. Oleg doesn't want her to keep torturing herself because the worst is over. She has El Zurdo where she wants him and he isn’t going to suspect a thing. She will be reunited with her daughter soon.

Lupo and Sofía have a frosting fight while eating the cake. He tends to her arm. Soon she is outside performing with her flag in her uniform. Sofí wants to know if Lupo is in love with her mother. He tries to wheedle out of answering that question. He finally answers saying he doesn’t know but whenever he is with her he wishes time would stop so he could spend more time with her. Sofía smiles and proclaims he is in love with her. He asks what she would know of love. She blames her feminine intuition. She adds that it will all end when her mother finds out that he kidnapped her daughter and betrayed her.

In Mexico City at campaign headquarters, Danilo is assuring Epifanio that the press has been chosen carefully to give him and Vevita the best possible coverage. Epifanio wants to know where Alejandro is. Danilo says they have located him and there is nothing to worry about.. Vevita appears on the scene to visit Epifanio. The wedding is tomorrow. In the meantime, Danilo calls Alejandro. There is no answer. He leaves a message asking where he is. Epifanio won’t stop asking about him and the wedding is tomorrow. He needs to call.

Back in Washington D.C., Alejandro is meeting with Sheldon over a game of chess. Sheldon is not happy. Epifanio is only at 35% in the polls to win the presidency. . By this point, they expected Epifanio to be the clear winner in the polls. He reminds da Alejandro that is why they have him working for them in Mexico. It is his job to make sure that Epifanio wins. Alejandro is confident that Epifanio will win. There is still plenty of time.Sheldon reminds him that the president is not pleased and impatient. Alejandro assures him he knows what is at stake including his own life. Alejandro declares “check mate.”. Sheldon co granulated him on his game and tells him not to forget what he told him. Jonathan observes Alejandro leaving Sheldon’s office in an official vehicle.

At the Submarino, Ray has met up with Ximena and tries to explain that he works behind the scenes at the club in a sort of administrative position. She likes the club and could see herself getting into frequenting the place. She notices that an Arab is working there in Culicán and finds that odd. She asks Ray about him. Ray ignores her questions and toasts to the prettiest girl to have come into the place. That stops the questions.

REINA Part 3

Paloma comes down into the control room and greets Teresa and Rocío. She is looking for Ray. Rocío points him out in the club with a pretty girl on one of the surveillance feeds. He has been with her ever since she came in. Paloma is visibly upset. Sheila tells her she has been around the block and so she can tell that Ray has the hots for the girl (ese huevo quiere sal) . Paloma says Ray isn’t her boyfriend and he can do what he pleases just like she could hook up with any jerk even being pregnant. Rocío takes Paloma out into the club to find out who the girl is. Sheila calls Batman to schedule a get together.

On the island, Lupo and Sofía are sitting on the pier. She tells him that her mother will cut his throat when she finds out what he kidnapped her. He agrees that “Explanation Day” will arrive. Sofía sarcastically asks how he is going to explain that he forgot to tell her about kidnapping her daughter. Will she be grateful that he took care of her? Lupo agrees that he doesn’t deserve to be forgiven by her mother. She mentions her mother’s Spanish boyfriend Pedro. Sofía asks what are they making her mom do so she Sofía can be freed. Lupo thinks it is better she not know. Sofía asks If it has something to do with the mafia her mother was once involved in, or the candidate who came by, or is it somebody who just wants to hurt her mother ????? There is silence but Sofía presses the issue. Who is behind her kidnapping. All Lupo can tell her is that soon she will be back with her mom. Sofía says he knows she doesn’t want to go back to her. He tells her to get used to the idea and she will have to forgive her mother. Sofía doesn’t see how she can forgive her after she killed her father. Lupo explains that everything has an explanation. He knows why her mother did it but it is not his place to tell her. Sofía has a surprise for Lupo but they need the drone to see it from the sky.

Back in Washington D.C., Sheldon and Alejandro meet with the president of the USA. Jonathan pulls up outside of Manuela’s house. He tries calling Alejandro but there is no answer. Jonathan quickly finds out from a real estate agent that the house is on the market. Nobody lives there anymore. The agent thinks the owner left the country.

Things are going swimmingly at the Submarino. Rocío and Paloma join Ray and Ximena. Rocío asks that Ray introduce her and Paloma to his friend. Ray says Ximena was the girl that helped him out with Paloma’s university credits being recognized. Paloma thanks her. Rocío asks what brings Ximena to Culicán. Ximena gives her whole story (without names of corse) about her teacher sleeping with her father, them getting married, etc. With that whole mess, she needed a change. Rocío makes a pointed comment that at least her grandfather was doing the right thing by his girlfriend and not being some cheating Don Juan. She asks Ray for his agreement. By Ray’s expression, it is clear that the message has not been lost on Ray.

Oleg talks to Teresa about going to rest for a while. Teresa is so upset about her daughter, sleep is an impossibility. He offers her one more tequila.

Rocío decides to make things a bit more interesting by announcing to Ximena that Ray and Paloma are novios. Paloma says they aren’t. She never said they were. Rocío reiterates that Paloma said they had kissed. Ray denies they are novios. Rocío adds they have an open relationship so they won’t be getting married any time soon very unlike like her grandfather. It lo9s like Ximena has received the message loud and clear. Paloma gets up and leaves. Rocío follows her. Paloma stops dead in her tracks as she sees something. Rocío stops and stares, too. They cannot believe what they are seeing. It is Cayetana and Charo. Rocío wonders how she knew they were there. Paloma confesses she gave her the address.

REINA Part 4

Cayetana cannot believe what she is seeing. Her granddaughters came all the way to Mexico to become whores. Teresa is right there in between the girls to welcome Cayetana to the Submarino.

Ximena is still seat with Ray. She thinks she recognizes a woman.

Teresa tells Cayetana that if she wants tequila they have the best in all of Mexico. Cayetana didn't cross an ocean to drink in this hell hole of a bar. Teresa tells her to make it quick then so she can leave. Cayetana now thinks that Teresa is also into trafficking women besides trafficking drugs. She asks if Teresa is thinking of bringing up her own daughter in a place like this. Teresa says Cayetana can scream all she wants in her own house but here she needs to show some respect before they grab her by the hair and throw her out. Cayetana makes it clear she isn't going until they discuss Sofía. Teresa says Sofía is none of her concern. Cayetana disagrees. Teresa came to Spain to do the DNA test and to try to make Cayetana feel sorry for her and to get her to forgive her for killing her son. Well, Teresa dug her own grave. She calls Teresa a murderer. Oleg tries to get them to quiet down but soon the whole crew is there to support Teresa. Sheila and Conejo jump right into the fray and soon a physical confrontation is launched after more insults from Cayetana. She calls Conejo a "hyena face" in the midst of it all. Sheila has a broken bottle in her hand and a bodyguard has his gun out when Oleg and some others prevent any real damage from being
done.

With an unfaltering smirk, Teresa tells Cayetana that if she wants to leave there alive she better tell what the hell she wants and then go to hell herself before she has to send her. (it was much more vulgar and entertaining in Spanish). Not to be undone, Cayetana raises her little fists and proclaims she is ready to physical take on any of Teresa's people who get in her face. Teresa says that is not happening but does remind Cayetana how she "welcomed" her to her home when she set a bull on her. She could do the same to Cayetana here because the place is full of beasts and Cayetana would suffer a far different fate. Cayetana gets into it with Rocío and Paloma. Oleg tells Teresa and Cayetana to take it to the office. Sheila gets the party started again.

On the island, Lupo and Sofía have the drone flying to her surprise. Sofía has spelled out a message on the lawn that can be seen from the air. It is in English and says :NOTHING HERE BUT SOFIA. She and Lupo laugh. He tells her she is in his heart and hugs her.

In the office, Cayetana has presented Teresa with legal papers. She has won custody of Sofía and Teresa has ten days to appeal the decision in a superior court. Cayetana tells her not to bother because who would grant custody to a drug dealer and a murderer still being pursued by the Spanish judicial system? Teresa admits to being those things but they cannot take her daughter away because she is her mother. Cayetana tells her to read the court papers. Also, what part of "My daughter has been kidnapped" does Cayetana not understand? She has no idea where she is. Cayetana is sure that Sofía will show up and then she will just take charge of her so she does not grow up among whores and drug dealers. Teresa sees this as revenge ure and simple. She rips up the papers and throws them in Cayetana's face. Teresa makes it clear that if Cayetana does anything to mess up her plans to get Sofía back, she will make her suffer like a pig in the slaughterhouse. Does Cayetana get that? Cayetana counters with that if anything happens to her, her lawyer will know who did it. Teresa will be prosecuted and Sofía will end up in the foster system and she will never see her again.

REINA Part 5

Teresa continues. She does not give a damn about what any court system says. She lives for her daughter. If sh eis gone, she will have no reason to live but she sureas hell will have a reason to KILL.

it seems that Ray is having a hard time with Ximena. She is not impressed with what she heard from Rocío and Paloma. She is out of there until he gets things sorted out.

Rocío and Paloma give Charo a hard time about giving Cayetana the address but end up reconciled. hey assure her they are not whores. Charo is not too sure about how they are dressed.

Sheila and Silvia joke about Ray all alone. Sheila teases Conejo about liking the young ones. Oleg comes by and Conejo says she is worried abut teresa being up in the office so long. Oleg says Teresa knows how to defend herself. Sheila is still worried because Cayetana has a bad reputation in Málaga. Oleg is on the way.

Teresa is in Cayetana's face blaming her for the whole situation setting "her dogs" after her in Italy. If it hadn't ben for al of that she would be celebrating her daughter's birthday. All Cayetana can say is now Teresa's hell is like hers. She now knows how it feels when your child is taken away. Teresa says there is a difference because her son was a dog, a crummy human being, a criminal. Cayetana has two granddaughters but is only concerned with twisting the knife in Teresa's wound. Cayetana tells her she has no idea what matters to her. Does she think she enjoys seeing her granddaughters turn into whores like her? Teresa grabs a knife and holds it to her throat. Cayetana is not afraid. You cannot kill the same person twice. Oleg walks in and tells teresa it isnot worth it as she pulls back away from Cayetana. He asks Cayetana to leave. Cayetana warns her when Sofía appears she will be back for her. She should not have to live as Teresa does always on the run and pursued by justice. Cayetana leaves. T

Teresa tells Oleg about the court order. He says all court orders can be appealed. They are closer than ever to getting Sofía back. Sofía is worried that Cayetana might contact the Spanish embassy and the effect that would have on everything. Everything would come to light and ruin the deal with Epifanio and Zurdo would find out he was set up; everything could be going to hell. Oleg says they have to think. Teresa has never felt so close to losing a war before. Teresa starts to doubt herself as a mother and wonders if maybe it would be better for Sofía not to be with her. Maybe she would have a better life away from her.

On the way out, Rocío and Paloma try to tell Cayetana that they are not whores. Cayetana will not listen.

Alejandro and Sheldon end their meeting with the president. The president wants to make sure Alejandro gets everything he needs. Sheldon tells Alejandro h is one of the few Mexicans the president respects. He tells Alejandro not to disappoint them. Alejandro reminds him if he has the keys to the oval office it is because the president knows he is teh only one who can accomplish this mission. Sheldon says everyone knows it. His plane is waiting at Andrews to take him to Mexico. He wishes him God's speed.

Oops, I'm so sorry, Jarifa. I guess both novelera and I jumped the gun, perhaps influenced in part by what novelera had experienced with Telemundo scheduling the night before. I've now removed my comment. I'll put back an amended one soon. In fact, I might as well just include it now.

I loved your wonderfully vivid and detailed recap, Jarifa, including some Spanish that had gone right by me last night as I watched the episode. Thanks VERY much!

One question: I often have trouble with faces, and I've had a particularly hard time distinguishing between Jonathan and Sergio. I thought it was Sergio who drove up and asked about the house that was for sale. Both his clothing and his hairstyle looked much more like Sergio to me than Jonathan. Am I mistaken?

I also found it somewhat amusing that when Jonathan/Sergio makes a phone call, he gets a recording (in English) that says, "The subscriber you have dialed is not in service. Please try your call again later." The subscriber is not in service? And if the number is not in service, why should he try the call again later? [These are rhetorical questions: I assume that the "English" announcement is probably a bad translation from the Spanish. I have lots of experience making bad translations from the Spanish. :-) ]

So the "mission" that Sheldon and Alejandro are pursuing has the blessing of the president of the USA, and was perhaps even his idea. [no comment]

Yep, I didn't realize a Part 4 was coming, Jarifa. Terrific recap!! You got it all and with great details. I zapped my inferior summation of what came after Cayetana appeared at El Sumarino.

I know he's bad to the bone, but I still enjoy Humberto Zurita's performance as Epifanio Vargas. So often he throws out these profane remarks that crack me up. He was telling Danilo he didn't want any of those journalists who are like dogs sniffing each others' butts!

I am just stunned by the scene at the White House. Was that really its exterior. Must have been some kind of CGI as I doubt they'd get permission to film there. And what possible reason would President Whoever, not wearing a red tie, have for wanting Epifanio Vargas to be President?

So Alejandro is an agent of the US? Didn't Manuela say something to that effect a few episodes ago? And Fake President treated him as such. The plot definitely thickens.

Cayetana surely can't survive Reina2. She's the nastiest human on the planet. Teresa rightly told her, and she didn't exactly deny it, that she doesn't have much interest in Sofía as a person, just a way to hurt Teresa.

Juanita, no problem. You all just don’t know me very well. : ) If I ever cannot do/ complete a recap, I will let you guys know via the blog or an email. Sometimes I choose to work slowly. It was a great afternoon cooking and recapping!

It could very well have been Sergio. I have had a difficult time identifying those two from the start. I was wondering myself when I saw the jacket but just went with Jonathan since he was recently around. Maybe somebody else can help sort out who is who.

As for the cellphone message, I have heard that same message with the word “number”. I think it was a sloppy translation on their part. It was translated to “número” in subtitles. Then again, I never have understand a “number” being out of service just because somebody isn’t picking up or allowing a voice mail to be left. It is one of those things I have heard hundreds of times in novelas when people are in close proximity not even out in the middle of nowhere. Go figure.

Wow! It seems that I saw Teresa at her best and worst all in one episode: Greeting Cayetana and Post Cayetana.

I loved the language in this one, as you can tell. It was so descriptive.

I liked that Teresa’s and FLEM’s face injuries had not magically disappeared.

I liked FLEM trying to get Teresa back on her mom’s side. That was sweet.

This one is so much fun.

More later.

REINA 2

I have written too much today. Correction: Get SOFÍA back on her mother’s side.

novelera, I just told Juanita no problem. You just don’t know me very well. : ) . If I ever cannot finish a recap or cannot do one, I will let you guys know via the blog or email.

Yes, I agree that Humberto Zurita is doing an excellent job. He is perfectly slimy as he should be The dog butt sniffing comment was a good one. Just one more example of the great writing in this one.

Why would a president here want Epifanio as the president there? Good question, novelera.

ITA about Cayetana. Too bad Zurdo wasn’t around to shoot first and ask questions later.

More mañana for real this time.

Thank you, Jarifa.

"Ray excuses himself to go check out something he saw on the surveillance cameras." - Yep, Ximena.

"Ximena is still seating with Ray. She thinks she recognizes a woman." - She was referring to Teresa. I was expecting some kind of revelation and connection made, but no, near miss. Postponed for later. Ximena even asked Ray who that woman was, the owner of the bar, his boss. Ray was mumbling. Ximena had had enough and left.

NOTHING HERE BUT SOFIA - she was referring to the tattoo "nothing here" he has on his chest where the heart is. Earlier in Mexico City, when Sofía saw the tattoo, she said she did not believe it. So, now, Lupo said she was right. Sofía 1, Lupo 0, also continuing their score keeping from before.
Yes, Jarifa, the scenes of FLEM and Sofía were sweet. What a cute couple. He did a lot to repair the mother-daughter relationship.

Novelera: I noticed that the building where POTUS met Alejandro had inscription "Memorial Continental Hall" - it is the national headquarters of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

It was definitely Jonathan disguised as Sergio's buddy, probably looking for Sergio. But, apparently, Manuela got Sergio sent somewhere.

Lucio, thank you! That "nothing here but Sofía" went right by me. I couldn't understand Lupo being OK with her putting something on the beach that could lead to her discovery. He was, of course, completely touched by her recognizing his fondness for her. And Sofía 1 Lupo 0 makes perfect sense.

reina-sur2

Lucio, thanks so much for your extremely interesting and helpful comments. I totally missed the "Memorial Continental Hall" inscription, and I had forgotten about Lupo's "nothing here" tattoo. That's the key piece, as you point out.

And thanks too for clearing up the Jonathan/Sergio confusion. Yes, Jonathan looked very much as he had whenever he met with Sergio, which was probably why I always had difficulty knowing who was who.

La Reina 2

wow, Jarifa, loved your recap, and how it drifted out in parts, great masterpieces take time to write... and to savor.

I definitely think it was Jonathan, and that it was Sergio he was calling (out-of-service) before he got to find the house empty.

yep, nothing good is going to come to Cayetana, but could they hurry it up though, can we write an anonymous letter to Zurdo, a little barefoot stroll on broken glass maybe? yep, that would work, a third party terrorizing her where she would have to look to Teresa for help.

so glad Lupo put Sofia's conclusion that her mother was in on the kidnap behind her.

pigs in a slaughterhouse for Cayetana, don't suppose Teresa was having flashbacks to hanging over the meat grinder with Siso smiling on.

I believe Teresa is still wanted in Mexico, so If Caytana spills to the authorities, with the address of the bar, plus the story of Sofia's kidnapping as to why she is in Mexico, that pretty much pulls the rug out from everything.

El Submarino was referred to in the english caps once as a stripjoint, Cayetana referred to it as a whorehouse and with Shelia and Conejo working the floors it may well be, and I noticed Rocia and Paloma dolled up for the part before going in, so lets move to where Ray invites Jimena there, what? and she likes the atmosphere, what?

and Jimena may click on who Teresa is, hmm, who would that benefit, Carmen? (I want to see Carmen and Cayetana collide)

thanks Lucio for "is the national headquarters of the Daughters of the American Revolution." ha!

Thanks, all, for adding so much. That is what makes watching this with a group so great.

Lucio, thanks for clarifying the Jonathan situation and identifying the national headquarters of the DAR as well as the reference to the tattoo. Yep, Ray couldn’t get out to Ximena fast enough.

deb, thanks! This is just so much fun to recap so when I have time I enjoy dealing in details. I also have wondered about the real identity of the Submarino and remember it being referred to as a “strip joint” in the subtitles but don’t trust them for much in English or Spanish. I don’t think Oleg/Teresa would get into prostitution or stripping since those could lead to a whole set of concerns they probably don’t want to deal with. In my opinion, the Submarino is just a bar with sexy women selling drinks. I have a feeling any bar would look like a strip joint to straight-laced Cayetana.

Well, I am out of here to try and beat the storms.

Reina-sur-2

Thanks, Jarifa.

Now that Sofia sees Lupo as a father figure and realizes her mom isn't in on her kidnapping, will she continue trying to escape? Am I the only one who's worried she'll fall behind in schooling while she's sequestered?

I don't think there's any prostitution going on at submarimo. By strip joint standards it's very conservative and the women are modestly dressed. If anyone's turning tricks, she's doing it on her own.

I'm fearing fo Danilo. Hears overhearing too much and will put 2 and 2 together.

The conspiracy at the white house sounds like real former black ops operations. But why Epifanio?

Good Morning everyone. Hoping everyone is staying safe from the storms in Houston.

Jarifa: I noticed "Esclava Blanca" is airing on Estrella TV.

Niecie, I agree with your concern for Danilo. I think everyone is expendable for Alejandro except for Alejandro.

Steve, I think this is proving to be a pretty bad summer all over.

Thank you, Jarifa, for the very detailed and wonderful recap! So much happens so fast in this TN!

Novelera, I also wondered why Lupo didn't seem concerned about Sophia's writing "Nothing here but Sophia" on the ground, visible from the air. Even though he is moved by the sentiment, it's possible that someone flying over the island will spot the writing. Maybe he's not thinking clearly about it or he would take it down.

Lynne

Great to se you on the patio, Lynne. Thanks! You are so right about the risk Lupo runs in leaving Sofía’s message intact.

Waaahhh!
