DREAMS DIE HARD - Part 1
Throughout our lives, we live for and are fueled by our dreams. This is particularly true for love – lost love, unrequited love and the desire for nirvana - a fiery all-consuming, mutual love.
Juanjo pines for and dreams of what might have been with Yameli. Despite searing pain, part of Yameli still aches for a love that was treacherous beyond understanding. Wendy yearns that her burning love be reciprocated, despite knowing the love of Juanjo’s life is another. Diana is devastatingly hopeful that a delusional love lost will be inflamed yet again. Yet, treachery rears its ugly head. And waits…
Yameli is introduced to Charly’s lawyer Caro, she of the stolen hot kisses and much more. Yameli recalls the pictures and struggles to smile. Diana and her attorney arrive. Being acquainted with Caro (certainly not to the degree Charly is), Diana greets her. Turning on all of his charm, Charly has supportive, kind words for his soon to be ex, telling her you are the mother of my daughter, etc. Charly’s smarmy look is obvious - at least to us. Yameli makes a call to Restrepo and has the incriminating photos sent to Diana as the negotiations get underway. Buzz, uh oh. Diana ignores the message. Restrepo resends and Diana continues to ignore the buzzing. The house in Miami, Luxor, are all being divided rather cheerfully. Yameli is watching frantically as the documents are signed by Charly as Diana, with pen poised, is told by the receptionist she needs to answer her phone – it’s important. Diana does and sees the pictures. She gets up and leaves. She calls Restrepo who confirms. Yameli stalks her victim and sits as Diana has an emotional breakdown. It’s not your fault Yameli tells her- it’s that imbecile. Diana charges back into the meeting, obviously having changed her mind as to how the spoils will be divided. Diana later slaps Charly as he goes after her. The house is in my name she tells him.
Later, Caro and Charly try to figure out what went wrong. Caro has the nerve to give him a kiss as she slithers out of the room. Ack.

DREAMS DIE HARD - Part 2
Later, Caro and Charly try to figure out what went wrong. Caro has the nerve to give him a kiss as she slithers out of the room. Ack.
In a happier venue, Irma is singing as Erick looked smitten and Juanjo smiles gently, both enjoying the performance. Joyous, enthusiastic kudos from both men. Juanjo plays the recording back and Irma is happy. Juanjo wants Vibes to represent her. Irma needs to check with her mother of which Juanjo is supportive. Erick and Irma have an earnest discussion, not quite in agreement, ending in kisses.
Diana is pouring her heart out to Vanesa. Your father has another woman. Are you sure Vanesa asks? Yes my love Diana responds. Diana cries yet again for someone who deserves no tears as Vanesa looks somewhat supportive but offers no hug.
Meanwhile, Diana’s pseudo friend Yameil goes to talk to Charly. He is dismissive. I’m going to see Vanesa he tells her. She offers to go with, he declines.
Charly arrives, kisses his daughter and pushes Diana, telling her she won’t get Luxor. Lidia intervenes on Diana’s behalf. Vanessa has her usual blank expression but at least is not appearing to support her father. He pleads his case. Charly urges Vanesa to remain calm (at Lidia’s urging).
Yameli is meeting with Juanjo and his not so better half. Something was said here but I did not understand it. Wendy reaches for his hand in support as Yameli leaves.
Diana’s attorney is giving her advice. She wants her pound of flesh.
Irma takes leave of Serge and Erick. Serge recognizes his friend’s attraction. They talk about Charly vs. Juanjo. Irma also recognizes a crush – Serge on Vanesa.
Serge is giving himself a breath test as Vane walks in. They shake hands, Serge visibly nervous and Van cool as a cucumber. Ummm, chocolates. Just what every aspiring model wants! Yet, the smile Vanesa bestows is sweet. They discuss her ex novio and converse naturally.
Meanwhile, Erick takes the blindfold off Irma’s eyes. He has arranged a lovely dinner (private too!). Erick signals and the singing serenade begins ad she stands and joins him. Kissing ensues. They then barge into Erick’s apartment and Lidia is summoned. The four take off as Lidia helps herself to a chocolate.
These guys got game. The fun is ruined by a livid Ruco, lurking in the shadows.
Diana continues to torture herself by looking at pictures of her and Charly. She deletes the album as she binge eats.
Charly has obviously recovered from any upset at the divorce signing. Rebounding admirably, Charly, who never learns his lesson, leads Caro to his apartment once again. He is being tailed by both Restrepo AND Yameli (separately). Oh my – high tech tonight. A drone is employed as Charly undresses Caro on the rooftop. Restrepo is getting an eyeful.
Yameli texts Juanjo.
Diana
Diana, I just luuurve your introduction...inspired and eloquent. And the rest of the recap is just as wonderful. It still amazes me how much you glean from the character's actions and expressions. Bravo, amiga!
When Yameli was with Wendy and Juanjo, they were discussing the pictures of the financial reports Yameli found. Wendy noted that some of the costs were inflated and suggested to Yameli that she confront Charly about it...in a subtle way. So Yameli is going to feign ignorance and ask Chalry to explain the reports to her. What left me on edge was the last scene where Yameli texted Juanjo and asked if he was still at the office because she wanted to go over. Juanjo texted back to come on over and then he got that smile that said he was a little to happy that he would be seeing her (without Wendy around).
I felt so sorry for Diana; her bubble's burst was more like an explosion. I'm glad she is planning to make Charly's life miserable and prolong the divorce as long as she can. She told the attorney to ignore all of Caro's calls and that she would not agree to anything Caro proposed. She is going to try Charly's patience and drive him crazy. I hope she succeeds.
Eric and Irma are a breath of fresh air; and I really like Serg. He's an entrepreneur in the making. That cart with the caps he was pushing with his bike was a nice touch....a nice guy who is trying to make an honest living. What else could Vanessa hope for?
So what is it with the white pants?? Now Erick is wearing them too!
Thanks again, Diana, for this little gold nugget of a recap you graced us with.
Good night and sleep well.
Yameli is pursuing Charly's ruination as hard as she can, but those nostalgic past memories sneak in sometimes. Interesting that she claimed no knowledge of Restropo. Is this the first time we've had a drone spying on an unfaithful spouse?
Irma has some genuine talent. Since we don't have enough complications, maybe her mother will advise her to go with Luxor instead of Juanjo's studio. Then she and Erick could have a shakeup of their newly cemented novios relationship.
Prunella4caps, welcome to our little patio! I do hope you return and share your thoughts :-)
La Paloma, so nice to “see” you here! I don’t know about anyone else, but I had never seen a drone in TN before. Technology is catching up to our TNs.
Lost on the cutting room floor last night. Please insert close to the end:
As Yameli watches Charly and Caro emerge from the car, beaming and laughing, old wounds are reopened, fresh and painful. Yameli's heart is in her face as her eyes brim with tears...
Diana
Thank you for filling in so many important details Rgv Chick! As always, I truly appreciate your support and very kind words.
While I did not understand the discussion of the financials, I did see Juanjo's happy expression when Yameli texted him: "he got that smile that said he was a little to happy that he would be seeing her (without Wendy around)" was perfect and said it all.
I suspected Di was going to give nothing and want it all but wasn't sure. Thank you for verifying she's not giving an inch. That said, I did find it a bit strange that Charly was able to regroup so quickly. Guess he's always up for a roll in the hay or a rooftop tryst :)
La Paloma, nice to see you back! A spy drone is a new one to me and very creative. And yes, it seems the door is open for competition for Irma. Her mother, being closer to Charly's age, may assume he is still the bigger star than Erick. An assumption of pure speculation as we haven't seen her yet.
I see a deleted comment so not sure who that is from.
Thank you all for your kind words.
Diana
I love it when a recapper writes a beautiful prologue. At that point, it's no longer a recap. It's literature. So I'm going to highlight this once again:
"Throughout our lives, we live for and are fueled by our dreams.
And waits…"
This above is also a perfect resumé of the over-arching theme of this story. More than the music, the reggaeton, the drugs, the details of the industry, it is about the human heart and soul. Themes that are the same from age to age, century to century.
But just like Paloma, I also enjoy the snark:
Diana and her attorney arrive. Being acquainted with Caro (certainly not to the degree Charly is), Diana greets her.
Rebounding admirably, Charly, who never learns his lesson, leads Caro to his apartment once again. He is being tailed by both Restrepo AND Yameli (separately). Oh my
No, Charly never learns his lesson. And so far, he hasn't had to. He keeps rebounding and women keep falling into his hands. Along with money and fame. Well, his eventual downfall will be all the more interesting.
As always, Diana, you amaze me with what you can glean, and how you are able to write it up after a long hard day of work and a grueling commute. With thanks and admiration, querida amiga....
I appreciate checking in here on the patio. You are all a comforting , stable part of my day. Thank you for the diversion .
Judy, your kind words are treasured more than you know. Coming from a writer of your stature, I am truly humbled.
"More than the music, the reggaeton, the drugs, the details of the industry, it is about the human heart and soul. Themes that are the same from age to age, century to century" was achingly lovely.
Thank you amiga. You always uplift and make us feel valued. What a wonderful gift to bestow.
Diana
Susanlynn, it sounds as though you have quite the crowd! I am glad you are surrounded by your loved ones...and being the animal lover that I am, a golden retriever in the mix sounds like so much fun!!
I am sorry to see that you are not feeling your best. Understandable after losing your wonderful husband. I hope your family's love and the camaraderie and affection from the patio uplift and cheer you.
Diana
Ay yi yi, Susanlynn...I am really concerned about your weight loss. For someone as petite as you are, that is a huge amount. Grief is draining and hollows us out, emotionally and physically, but I will pray that eventually you will feel enough peace to regain that lost weight and vitality. I know you had the most incredible husband and a loss like that is unfathomable. But just know that we love you and are lifting you up in our thoughts and our prayers.
Diana, "As Yameli watches Charly and Caro emerge from the car, beaming and laughing, old wounds are reopened, fresh and painful. Yameli's heart is in her face as her eyes brim with tears..." Another exceptional description of such a poignant scene. Yameli had to see to believe despite the photos. It seems that our young protag likes to torture herself...probably trying to rip that love that plagues her out of her heart and soul, but she turns to the one person she knows can give her the love she knows...and Juanjo will eventually give in to his feelings...it's TN law :-)
JudyB, your comment is equally as exceptional. What an honor it is to be amongst such meritorious writers. I truly savor each word you and Diana write. Diana has already pointed out one ny favorites, but it's worth restating--"More than the music, the reggaeton, the drugs, the details of the industry, it is about the human heart and soul. Themes that are the same from age to age, century to century" Clearly outstanding.
Susanlynn. I too am concerned about your weight loss. Please take care and eat lots of hopeos that we are sending you. You are always in my thoughts and prayers.
Oh Rgv - "It seems that our young protag likes to torture herself...probably trying to rip that love that plagues her out of her heart and soul, but she turns to the one person she knows can give her the love she knows...and Juanjo will eventually give in to his feelings...it's TN law :-)" stated with heart and truth.
The honor of being on this patio is gratifying.
I know the inevitable must be accepted. And yet...how can all the hurt and anguish be overcome to make this couple one?? Yameli would in the end use Juanjo although that would not be her intention. Juanjo would forsake his vows to be with Yameli. To seek solace with another to cauterize emotional wounds or to fulfill a lifelong fantasy of love is wrong in every sense.
Diana
Diana, "Yameli would in the end use Juanjo although that would not be her intention." Unfortunately, that has been her pattern--using people without intent of harm; yet everyone she becomes involved with is harmed in some way or another. Vengeance has its price; and Yameli isn't seeing, or wanting to see, it.
Ep 47: Part 1 Sparks That Fly Sometimes Burn
Yameli goes to see Juanjo at the studio. After she tells him that Charly is with the lawyer, she rants about how she doesn’t know how Diana could tolerate someone like Charly who jumps from woman to woman. After Juanjo comments that he thinks Wendy is right…Yameli is in love with Charly, Yameli assures him that she only feels hate…it makes her sick to think that she allowed Charly to kiss her and touch her…and for what…everything she did was worthless. Yameli can’t believe Juanjo could think that she could fall in love with Charly after everything he did to her. Juanjo looks at her longingly and tells her, “Do you really want to know what I feel?” Yameli senses what’s coming and doesn’t want to hear it, but Juanjo caresses her face and tells her that she is the Yameli he fell in love with…that he is in love with and drives him crazy…the woman he always wanted to have. Yameli tells him to stop, but Juanjo wants to continue and tries to kiss her, but Yameli pulls back and reminds Juanjo that he has Wendy. Juanjo knows he has Wendy, but he regrets having married her; he doesn’t love her and he will fix things. Distressed, Yameli walks away.
Erick, Irma, Serg, and Vane are at a club. When Vanessa goes to the restroom, Ruko grabs her and chides her for not answering his calls. Vanessa thought he would get the message that she doesn’t want to talk to him, but Ruko doesn’t know what else to do. When she tells him to calm down, he replies that he will only calm down if she goes back to his house. Meanwhile, Serg worries that Vanessa is taking too long so Irma goes to look for her. As Ruko is grabbing Vanessa, Irma intervenes and pushes him away telling him to leave. Ruko leaves, but only after telling Vanessa that she’ll be remembering who he is…she is his. Irma tries to get Vanessa to report Ruko, but Vanessa refuses and thinks she just needs to ignore Ruko. After Irma insists, Vanessa promises to think about it. Irma assures Vanessa that she is not alone; she will be there for her for whatever she needs. Before returning to the table, Vanessa asks Irma not to tell Erick about Ruko. Later Erick is asked to go up and sing. As he sings “Amor Impossibe”, Juanjo is at his studio with his heart shattered and Yameli is in her apartment trying to make sense of everything that is happening. Juanjo looks at the old photo of Yameli, Charly and him…and he tears it up as he cries.
Juanjo is at home with Wendy who is asking if Yameli told him anything about talking to Charly. Juanjo hasn’t talked to Yameli about that and is so distracted that he cuts his finger. Meanwhile, Yameli is home writing a song about mistakes of the past and how “their story” has not ended. She feels things that her soul had never dreamed of….it is a road that, because of her blindness, she has rejected. Wendy goes to tend to Juanjo’s cut. Once done, she tells him that he works too much, but that will change since she will be starting to work with him 100% of the time at Surround Vibes. Juanjo appreciates the offer, but he thinks she should start gradually. Wendy, however, insists that he needs help...and who better to help him than her.
At the club, Serg and Vanessa are dancing. After he asks her out to the theater and to go bowling, Serg tries to hold her arm, but Vanessa pulls back in pain. Serg sees the bruises on her arm; so Vanessa admits that Ruko was there at the club, but Irma helped her. When she asks Serg not to tell Erick, he promises, but only if she promises to call him if she needs his help.
Ep 47: Part 2 Sparks That Fly Sometimes Burn
Charly is in bed with only the bed sheet to cover his luscious body (oops! did I say that?) when he notices that Caro is already dressed. This is not the type of relationship to be spooning and Charly is in the process of getting a divorce…the last thing Charly should want is a relationship. After he asks when they will see each other again, Caro shrugs and leaves. Charly lays back down and gets his phone to call Yameli, but changes his mind.
Erick and Vanessa are home talking. Erick tells Vanessa that Serg has been his friend a long time; he asks her not to hurt him. Vanessa assures him that she only likes Serg as a friend and Serg knows it. After they discuss plans for the next day, Vanessa hesitates as she tells Erick that she loves him.
El Buho is broadcasting his show. He mentions that competition between the two brothers. As Charly is listening, he calls Irma to ask her to go audition for him…right now. After she agrees to go, Charly asks her not to mention it to Erick…he doesn’t want misunderstandings or gossip. Though Irma doesn’t feel comfortable with it, she agrees not to tell Erick.
Restrepo sends the most current pictures to Yameli and asks if he should send them to Diana. She replies, “Not yet,” as she plots her next move.
Wendy and Juanjo are having breakfast when Wendy brings up starting to work at Juanjo’s studio; she has a lot of ideas about how to develop some platforms and wants Juanjo to go with her to take a look at them, but Juanjo has a meeting and suggests that they meet for lunch…afterwards Wendy can work on the platforms from home. After Wendy comments on how excited she is to start working with Juanjo and that they will make a good team, Juanjo agrees…but neither looks convinced.
Serg arrives at Lidia’s house with a bouquet of flowers. He stutters with shyness and tells Lidia that he hopes the flowers brighten up her house. After Vanessa comes out, they repeatedly and nervously tell Lidia that they are going off to Vanessa’s casting.
Yameli is leaving her building when she sees Charly waiting for her. He has come to take her to work. After Yameli agrees, she asks how he slept after such a stressful day. Charly replies that he slept quite well…and he even got to talk to Vanesa who is acting more mature and will be staying with his mother for a few days. Charly asks Yameli if she was able to find out about the guy who called Diana, but Yameli shakes her head and only knows that he does not work at Luxor. Yameli suggests that the man might be someone new Diana is seeing, but Charly laughs and tells her that not even Diana’s mother can stand Diana…and he thinks Diana is still stuck on him…that’s why she won’t give him a divorce
Erick is at to Surround Vibes waiting for Juanjo. He has some ideas and would like to record them; so he goes in and starts to sing a new song he is working on.
Vanessa and Serga are at Ruko’s house to pick up her things. Ruko is there and insists that they talk and that she give him another chance. They go upstairs and continue arguing. Vanessa tells Ruko that she forgives him, but that doesn’t mean she’ll be getting back with him. Vanessa quickly gets her things and goes downstairs. Ruko follows her and when he tries to grab her, Serg gets an object and hits Ruko sending him to the floor. Serg kicks him, but Ruko strikes back and starts punching Serg repeatedly; so Vanessa pushes Ruko making him fall and quickly helps Serg up and they run out.
Ep 47: Part 3 Sparks That Fly Sometimes Burn
Juanjo is with El Buho who notes that he is upset…so upset that he looks like he wants to cry. After El Buho assures Juanjo that he can confide in him, Juanjo knows that he can and invites him for a drink.
At Lidias house, Vanessa is tending to Serg’s cuts and bruises. Vanessa is very sorry for what happened and can’t believe Ruko could have hit Serg, but Serg tells her that her would do it a thousand times for her. He worries about what would have happened if Vane had gone by herself, but Vane doesn’t think Ruko would have hit her. Serg, however, knows Ruko is trash and warns her to be careful with him. As he leaves, Ruko calls Vanessa, but she ignores it.
Wendy is at the studio when she finds the picture Juanjo tore up. She looks agitated as she throws the pieces back on the floor.
Juanjo has confided his dilemma to El Buho who can’t believe he married Wendy while being in love with someone else. Juanjo explains that he had a love in the past that was over. He started his relationship with Wendy and wanted to do right by her, but then his past love returned and all the feelings returned….he doesn’t know what to do. Wendy is a great woman who deserves the best; she is a good wife and he adores her, but he doesn’t love her. The other woman drives him crazy and fascinates him. El Buho advises that he distance himself from the other woman; he is already married and should work on his marriage. Juanjo needs to forget the other woman…and he can’t forget her, they need to drink a few beers to help him forget.
Yameli and Charly are still in his vehicle. After Yameli comments how she likes that Charly goes to pick her up and does nice things for her, Charly wonders what is going on with Yameli since she is sometimes loving toward him, but then other times, she ignores him and pushes him away. Yameli explains that she likes the idea of “them” but they also have a business relationship and, right now, she needs to talk to him about business…in his office. Once in the office, Yameli bring s up some of the amounts, but Charly quickly cuts her off because he doesn’t understand about those things…all he cares about is music. Yameli suggests that he start caring about the numbers because they are inflated. Charly quickly blames Diana since she is in charge of those things…but he’ll take care of it. He goes to the phone pretending to call Diana, but when Yameli leaves, he hangs up the phone...and worries.
“Sparks That Fly Sometimes Burn” – inspired.
“Juanjo caresses her face and tells her that she is the Yameli he fell in love with…that he is in love with and drives him crazy…the woman he always wanted to have”. Pure, beautiful magic Rgv Chick.
“He stutters with shyness” is yet another pearl. Raining superlatives on this outstanding recap.
“Juanjo knows he has Wendy, but he regrets having married her; he doesn’t love her and he will fix things”. He marched into marriage with full knowledge and yet did not change course. Instead of discarding his wild, unrealistic feelings for Yameli, it will be his dutiful, loving wife that he discards. Still, he neither knows nor cares that Yameli does not love him. Her ardor for Charly has barely cooled despite his continuing treachery. “She feels things that her soul had never dreamed of….it is a road that, because of her blindness, she has rejected” comes a bit late. Yameli. Juanjo is throwing a life preserver to your drowning being.
“Juanjo is at his studio with his heart shattered”. As is Yameli’s. And yet – Charly’s still beats without conscience.
El Buho gives sage advice. Unheeded, but Sage.
“…she will be starting to work with him 100% of the time at Surround Vibes”. Yes, smothering Juanjo is exactly what he needs now Wendy. Sigh.
Van “assures him that she only likes Serg as a friend and Serg knows it”. Nope, I don’t think he does. Ruko is mad and Serg is no match for him.
Irma going to Charly’s without telling Erick??
Is there no loyalty?
Outstanding Rgv Chick. Thank you!!!
Diana
Boy oh boy, You are the queen of titles my friend. Diana call it "inspired" but all your titles are inspired. Tell you what...give me your cellphone. When I'm writing the Mirada recaps, I'm going to text you and ask you for a title. Seriously!
And of course you knew NudyB would love THIS line:
Charly is in bed with only the bed sheet to cover his luscious body (oops! did I say that?) when he notices that Caro is already dressed.
Okay, honestly, Charly's sweet bod and sweet dance moves may be the best part of this telenovela for me. And the actor's lusciousness makes his ability to have women falling at his feet, in spite of crass treatment, perfectly believable. How else to explain Yameli's continuing infatuation in spite of her perfectly justified hate. Or Diana's.
Great casting and great recaps. Thanks so much Rgv Chick. I'll look forward to watching this at lunchtime. Need to get out and walk before out Ohio weather becomes insufferable.
Judy: Juanjo appears to be stuck with Wendy for awhile if this Telenovela remains popular enough in the ratings.
RGV Chick: Yameli needs to be careful.
I guess we all knew how the whole Ruko\Van thing would turn out . Likewise, Juanjo\Wendy and Charly\any other human being . Lots of toxic people in this show. Sometimes avoiding toxic people can be a full-time job.
Overcast here today. a quiet day .
Thank you, Diana,JudyB and Susanlynn!
Diana, "Instead of discarding his wild, unrealistic feelings for Yameli, it will be his dutiful, loving wife that he discards. Still, he neither knows nor cares that Yameli does not love him. Her ardor for Charly has barely cooled despite his continuing treachery." Now THAT is insightful AND inspired! Wendy is not one of my favorite characters, but she deserves some honesty from Juanjo...either love her or leave her, dude! Staying in a marriage only because it is" your duty" will only bring tears, frustration and anger.
NudyB, I had you in mind when I wrote that line :-) I twisted and turned my head trying to get a look under the sheet, but still couldn't get a good look RATS!! The man ha sso many tats, I was wondering where else he might have one LOL
Susanlynn, there are definitely quite a few toxic characters in this TN, but there are a few which bring some relief--Erick and Serg being among them. Anytime they come on, I feel a release of tension and anticipate a smile or two. Erick's smile is contagious amd Serg's naturalness and honesty are refreshing.
Steve, I'm just wondering if Yameli even cares to be careful, She has only one goal and doesn't seem to see anything else...not even her own demise as the caring person she used to be.
You are spot on with what Juanjo needs to do Rgv Chick: "...either love her or leave her, dude! Staying in a marriage only because it is" your duty" will only bring tears, frustration and anger". Amen.
Can anyone recall a situation where the galan divorces his spouse to be/marry someone else?? I think that is prohibited on page 92 of the TN Rules Handbook, but I'm not sure. I don't see her meeting anyone else so am uncomfortable as to how this will turn out.
I was also appreciative of Charly's "looks" last night Rgv Chick and Judy. And of course, I was a bit of a contortionist myself, (purely for accuracy of course) trying to see what Charly was sporting. I saw a pair of what I think were briefs. Sigh. Man is hawt.
Ruko is not. Right Susanlynn? Ack.
Lucio, where are you??
Diana
Thank you, Diana and Rgv Chick for the recaps. Always a joy to read.
I think this is a change for Yamelí to even consider Juanjo's declaration of love. Before, with Jack, she dismissed it right away. Having accomplished half of her mission, Monchis, and recovering Juanjo's friendship may have softened her a bit.
Food for thought for Irma: even Charly's own brother Eric is recommending her to go with Juanjo and not Charly as her manager.
Lucio, excellent point in that Yameli is "softening" (perfect word).
Unfortunately, Irma did not read your savvy advice about signing with Juanjo vs. Charly. Sigh.
Cannot wait to read your recap tomorrow Rgv Chick.
Diana
Ep 48: Part 1 This Little Piggy Went to (the Crime) Market
Erick calls Irma to invite her to the theater, but she is too far away (at Luxor) and too busy. He notes that she sounds strange, but blows it off.
Charly comments to Axel that he doesn’t think Yami will press the issue about the financial discrepancies. Axel tries to tell Charly about this concerns regarding Yameli, but Charly dismisses everything…Yami is supposed to know about everything that happens there and what happened at the concert had an explanation. Just then, Irma enters...and Axel is blown away by “the Hurricane.” Charly takes her to the studio for her audition when Yami walks in quite surprised to see Irma. After Irma sings a portion of her song, Charly is very impressed. Yami tries to dissuade Charly from signing Irma on by telling him that Irma has already talked to Juanjo, but Charly knows that Irma wouldn’t be there if she had signed with Juanjo. After he calls over Irma and tells her that he wants to sign her on, Yami makes a quick exit; Irma notices and also excuses herself.
At Juanjo’s bar, Wendy brings up the torn photos. Juanjo explains that he was having a fit of anger because of Charly and tore the photos. As they talk, Yami calls Juanjo and tells him that Irma is there and Charly wants to sign her on. After she tells him to call Irma, Irma makes herself known and asks what Yami is telling Juanjo about her. Yami plays it cool and explains that she just doesn’t want to be stealing anyone from someone else. Irma counters that she is not being stolen because she hasn’t signed with Juanjo. Irma explains that what she is interested in most is the money; she needs to go with whoever makes the best offer. When Yami tries to convince her to go to Juanjo for a counter offer…it is the ethical thing to do, Irma wonders how Yami can talk about ethics since she is working for Luxor, but leaking info to a competitor. As they continue their discussion, Charly comes in for Irma. He quickly asks her to his office and gives her the contract. Irma is elated with the offer and signs!! Yami watches with a forced smile as Irma assures Charly that she wants to work with him and doesn’t want to disappoint him. Yami rolls her eyes as Charly tries to impress Irma by telling her that she reminds him of him when he was younger when he had a group…but he was more talented than they were. Irma leaves without a copy of her contract since Charly has to send it to his lawyers. After she leaves, Charly wants to celebrate with Yami, but he gets a call from Toño who tells him that Don Edgar is summoning them NOW…and it’s not a request, it’s an order.
Outside, Toño is waiting for Charly who gets into his own car. After they both head out, Restrepo follows.
At Surround Vibes, Juanjo shows Wendy her work station. Yami enters and tells Juanjo that Irma signed with Charly. When she chides him for not having pressured Irma more, Juanjo retorts that that he is not one to pressure people; if someone signs with him, it’s because they want to…not because he pressures them into it. After Yami tells them that she hasn’t talked to Charly about the finance reports, Wendy wonders if Yami is upset about it, but Yami reiterates that they lost a great talent… and Irma overheard her talking to Juanjo. After Yami walks off still upset, Wendy notes how Yami’s attitude was odd; Juanjo justifies that losing Irma was a big loss.
Ep 48: Part 2 This Little Piggy Went to (the Crime) Market
Charly and Toño arrive at Don Edgar’s warehouse. As they are patted down, Restrepo parks a ways off and takes pictures. Don Edgar, sporting a red jacket, tiger shirt and a golden bike chain…and his huge buckle, greets Charly with very good news. The deal went down smoothly and he has Charly’s cut. When he asks Charly what he will do with the money, Charly replies that he will invest it. Don Buckle suggests that he invest part of it in one of his businesses so that he can triple his money. Charly first turns it down, but when Don Buckle tells him that he needs to tighten his pants and that he doesn’t like working with wusses, Charly changes his mind and leaves one of the cases of money behind. As he leaves, Martin, one of Don Buckle’s henchies asks how long he will be dealing with the pretty boy. Don Buckle responds that he needs to fatten the pig before ripping the piñata.
Charly and Toño leave the warehouse. Toño is not happy that Charly made a decision without discussing it with him first, but Charly only did what was best for everyone. As Charly hands Toño his cut, Restrepo goes “click, click, cick” capturing the illicit moment. Toño warns Charly that they shouldn’t trust Don Buckle who only looks out for himself; they can’t consider him a friend.
Restrepo shows Yameli the photos he took. After Yameli recognizes Toño, Restrepo asks if he should show the photos to Diana, but Yameli tells him ‘no’ and reminds him that he can’t show Diana anything without her approval.
Irma has told Erick that she signed with Charly since he made her a good offer. When she sees that he is disappointed, she reminds him that they had already agreed that their careers would be separate from their personal relationship. Erick feels bad because he had assured Juanjo that she would be signing with him, but he knows it was his mistake. Irma puts on her big smile and hopes Erick is happy for her because it’s a very special day for her…aside from the day she met him. Erick teases her that she is already manipulating him and assures her that he is happy for her. They seal it with a little fishy kiss.
Juanjo watches Wendy as she asks for some copies of some documents. He then trudges over to tell her that he is going to “La Pecera,” his bar, to see how things are going. Wendy notes his long face and asks if all is well; so Juanjo assures her everything is fine. After he leaves, Wendy calls her mother to give her an update. Things are sometimes good….other times not so good; she senses that Juanjo is not being completely honest with her. Mam’s solution -> have a baby!! When Wendy comments that they haven’t even discussed having a child, Mom assures her that having a baby is the best thing that can happen to them…it will unite them.
Ep 48: Part 3 This Little Piggy Went to (the Crime) Market
Juanjo is at La Pecera when Yameli arrives; she needs a friend…and a hug. Juanjo tries to apologize for what he did the night before, but Yami is not there to discuss that; she needs a drink. When Yami tells Juanjo that Charly is still involved in illegal affairs, Juanjo is not surprised because Charly had always been involved with his uncle…and he likes money, power and fame; the more he has, the better for him. Juanjo suggests that if Yami has some evidence , she should turn Chalry in, but Yami doesn’t think Charly would get very much time in prison. If Charly is involved with a big fish; then she can call Rizo and have him investigate…and put Charly in jail for the rest of his life. Juanjo sees that Yami is very upset; so she shows him Toño’s photo and tells him that Toño killed her parents…so Charly is working with the man who murdered her parents. Juanjo again insists that Yami turn in both Charly and Toño, but Yami remarks that he is not understanding. She tries to leave, but Juanjo asks her to wait; they need to discuss what happened between them. Yami first denies that anything happened, but then admits that she is feeling something for him, but it isn’t right; he has Wendy…and she has her issues with Charly. Juanjo knows that he hasn’t done things in the best way. He should have gone to look for her and told her how he felt a long time ago; it was his mistake, but he can’t keep quiet any longer and pretend that nothing is going on. He finishes with, “I am in love with you…I love you.” As she cries, Yami whispers that she doesn’t deserve to feel this way; she has her thing with Charly…and Juanjo and Wendy don’t deserve this either. They need to do what is right; and they shouldn’t talk about this again. Juanjo acknowledges that Yami still has many things to resolve with Charly; and he has to resolve things with Wendy…he needs to find the best way to do things, but nothing will change the way he feels about Yami. Yami reiterates that this is wrong…and they should never talk about this again. After she takes a last swig and gives him a hug. Yami leaves.
Diana, Charly and their attorneys are meeting once more. Diana insists that she will not give up her portion of Luxor; and Charly insists hat Luxor is his life…Diana only wants the money because she doesn’t know how to do anything else. After some more bashing, Caro asks Diana what it is that she wants. So Diana responds that she wants to be a producer. After Charly cackles, Diana’s attorney reminds Charly that Diana has worked in this business as long as Charly has and she knows the business well; there is no reason why she shouldn’t be able to be a producer. Diana adds that she wants to work with artists just as she worked with Charly to make him what he is…without her, he is nothing. After the attorney suggests that Luxor be divided into 2 production companies so each one can produce their own music, Diana adds that if Charly doesn’t agree, there will be no further negotiation…they can sell Luxor and divide up the money.
Erick and Vanessa are in her bedroom discussing Irma’s decision to sign with Charly. Erick would rather not discuss it, but Vanessa sees that he is disappointed and suggests that he write a song about it.
Charly is at his place and calls Yami. He leaves a message that he needs her and wants to see her. Meanwhile, Yami is rereading the letters that Juanjo had sent her. She smiles, but when she hears Charly’s message, she rolls her eyes and frowns. She continues to read the letter where Juanjo told her that he started going out with Wendy since he couldn’t wait for her forever…and she recalls Juanjo’s recent admission of his true feelings.
Ep 48: Part 4 This Little Piggy Went to (the Crime) Market
At Juanjo’s place, Wendy throws her little bomb and brings up having a baby…since she doesn’t want to be an old mom. Juanjo wonders what her hurry is…they are both still very young. When he tells her that now is not the time, Wendy becomes upset and sarcastically comments that he is too busy, he has too much work…blah, blah blah…
Next Day—
Irma admits to Erick that Charly asked her not to tell him about signing with him…so if Charly mentions anything Erick should pretend he knows nothing about it. After he agrees, she invites him to play basketball with her and her friends.
Lidia calls out to Erick to wake up. Vanessa comes in to the kitchen and tells her that he is long gone. After they comment that Erick has been acting different after he met Irma, Vanessa goes out to buy some tortillas. She spots Ruko, and starts to run away, but he catches up to her and pins her to the wall. He threatens that if she continues to see that dummy (Serg), he won’t be responsible for what happens to him…if something does happen to Serg, it’ll be Vanessa’s fault.
Charly tells Axel that with the money he got from Don Buckle, they will buy new equipment for the studio. Axel questions him since their equipment is almost new, so Charly explains that they need to “mask” the money so they can clean it . Axel warns Charly that Diana may notice, but Chary assures him that Diana won’t notice a thing. Charly then tells Axel to go to Mora for the budget sheets and then take them to Diana for her signature…they need to use that money to promote Irma.
Yameli meets with Restrepo and tells him to send Diana the photos of Charly at the warehouse…Diana needs to know that Charly is into some illegal stuff.
Axel takes the budget sheets to Diana for her signature. After she takes a quick look at them and comments that they did well, she signs them; and despite getting the photos of Charly, she hands them over to Axel. After he leaves, she makes a call asking someone (Yami??) to go to her office.
Rgv Chick, once again, you’ve set the bar higher. This was extraordinary. Another incredible title.
Favorite line was “Axel is blown away by “the Hurricane.” I was thinking of the Corleone “thunderbolt” but yours was far superior. “little fishy kiss” and “ Don Buckle” were but a few favorites.
“Irma explains that what she is interested in most is the money”. Refreshing honesty.
“Irma wonders how Yami can talk about ethics since she is working for Luxor, but leaking info to a competitor”. Bright. And Intuitive. Yet, after going after what she wants and her street savvy observation of what went down with Yameli, she brought no one to look out for her or her interests. Where was the famous “mama” she kept talking about? And not demanding a copy of what she signed was a freshman mistake.
Happy Diana has drawn a line in the sand about Luxor. Yet, Diana, she of beauty and brains, signs papers without reading every word? When brilliant people behave badly.
“Don Edgar, sporting a red jacket, tiger shirt and a golden bike chain…and his huge buckle” depicted the wonderful actor’s woeful appearance perfectly. I wanted to reach into the TV and yank that hair piece resembling a dead animal right off his head! I thought Axel had the biggest jewelry but Don Edgar has the edge.
“Don Buckle responds that he needs to fatten the pig before ripping the piñata” was a sobering window into the future.
“Yami reiterates that this is wrong…and they should never talk about this again”. If I were a betting woman…So, now that the truth is out, what are Juanjo and Yameli going to do with it? Will Yameli crush her budding feelings for Juanjo? Will she finally eradicate Charly from her heart? Will Juanjo end things with Wendy or continue to crush her spirit a bit each day? And of course, the baby card is played. Juanjo, man up and get out.
I’m in awe and so appreciative of the careful, thoughtful process you give to each and every recap. Thank you!
Diana
Ah, Rgv Chick, I used to call Jarifa the Titlemeister, but I think that honor has been passed on to you. This Little Piggy...is awesome. And the thought that Don Buckle is fattening up Charley for the kill is pretty scary. Charley's self-regard is so huge, he's not seeing the pitfalls all around him.
Loved "little fishy kisses". Those two are cute together, but Irma seems too sophisticated and experienced for our wee babe Erick. Not sure this romance is going to end well. Or that any of them will.
Diana is no paloma blanca, but I hate how our Charley disses her. But then anyone who isn't Charley is basically clueless according to him.
Had to laugh when I saw Ruco lurking in a hoodie and red tennis shoes. The exact same look as Doc Mask! The wardrobe department must be sharing.
Thanks Rgv Chick. Always a good read and always an amazing title.
Thank you, Rgv Chick.
"Yami reiterates that this is wrong…and they should never talk about this again. After she takes a last swig and gives him a hug." This was a warm hug. Contradicting the words before it. And Yamelí rereading Juanjo's letters is only feeding her "budding feelings" as Diana said.
Wendy's mother's advice is always about hanging on to Juanjo at any cost which is never good advice. Clinging to someone who doesn't return your love only leads to heartache and unhappininess.
It sure seems to me that Yami and Juanjo are going to end up together because she finally is noticing what a good guy he is and how much he has always loved her. Unfortunately, when she was young, she chose the bad boy. Her life would probab!y turned out very differently if she had fallen in love with the good guy. ..but then... No dramatic telenovela.
So, Yameli wants to preserve her conscience by steering clear of Juanjo romantically (although her actions are somewhat in conflict as you noted Lucio). In this case, she is trying to respect boundaries and the sanctity of marriage.
Conversely, there was no hesitation in insinuating herself in Charly and Diana's marriage. Granted, she considers Charly fair game, but the truth is that he is also married and yet, she pressed on. Was his proven track record of infidelity and what he did to her sufficient justification to harm Diana? Does she think Diana will consider her just another conquest? Hardly as Diana actually believes Diana is her friend. She has betrayed Diana. Granted, not to the extent she herself was betrayed by Charly, but wrong nevertheless.
It was hard to watch her tears when she saw the pictures of Tono. Now that is someone who should be targeted...
Susanlynn, excellent comment about Yami's hands being "relatively clean" if Don does away with Charly. I do think Yameli has a conscience but not sure how she can escape those who simply got in the way.
Diana
Thank you, Diana, JudyB, Lucio and Susanlynn. Seems like we're surfing on the same wave...length about the characters.
Diana, re: Irma - "going after what she wants and her street savvy observation of what went down with Yameli, she brought no one to look out for her or her interests. Where was the famous “mama”... I liked Irma from the start, but now I'm starting to see a different side of her; so up on the fence I go. She seems very sweet, but she has already lied quite a few times to Erick; the line she used about "talking to mama" was just an excuse to hold off signing with Juanjo until she got a better offer; and now she is manipulating sweet, innocent Erick. He is so worried about Serg getting hurt when he should be looking out for himself. I do hope I'm wrong, but quien sabe. JudyB, "Irma seems too sophisticated and experienced for our wee babe Erick. Not sure this romance is going to end well." I fear the same thing (sigh).
I thought for sure, Diana was going to hold off on giving Axel the signed budget sheets after seeing the photos of Chalry with Tono. I'm starting to believe that Lucio's theory is going to be right; Charly is setting her up as a fall guy(gal).
JudyB, "Had to laugh when I saw Ruco lurking in a hoodie and red tennis shoes. The exact same look as Doc Mask! " I thought and laughed about the same thing!! In fact I also thought of Doc Mask's red tennis shoes when Erick had his concert and was sporting red tennis shoes. Geez! Red tennis shoes must be a TN fad LOL
Susanlynn, "Wendy's mother's advice is always about hanging on to Juanjo at any cost which is never good advice. Clinging to someone who doesn't return your love only leads to heartache and unhappiness. " AMEN to that!
Diana, you pose some very good questions about Yameli. She is so determined to avenge the destruction of her family that she is blind to what she is doing to others who have no fault in past events. I have no idea how this story will end or how Yameli could find happiness after all the harm and pain she will be responsible for.
RgvChick, I'm on the fence with you. Honestly, I see Irma more with Axel than Erick. Axel has done some shady thing but nothing that is unforgiveable (unless I'm wrong). Irma is going to look out for number 1. Herself. Yes, she did make a conscious decision not to tell Erick about signing with Charly and her reasons were suspect. I'm even starting to wonder if "mana" has any clue what's going on and/or if she is even alive! Was she just a convenient excuse?
I'm not seeing any fairy tales here. And I'm sorry as I always like at least one healthy dose in every TN. I just don't see that happening here. Especially now that Serge seems in real danger. I really hope I'm wrong.
Diana
OK, Anon...
Speculation only. I don't think Charly will survive. I'm still thinking Monchis might be alive and if he doesn't get him - Don Belt will.
Having him survive would be too "messy" once it's revealed Erick is his son. I predict a heart wrenching deathbed apology to Erick.
Charly won't end up alone and penniless because in spite of everything Erick wouldn't let that happen. I would prefer that but...
I hope he doesn't bring Axel (or anyone else) down with him.
Diana
I keep thinking about other endings in which the wicked met their ends. In La Malquerida, the pimp was Stilletoed to death by his girls. In another telenovela, the female baddie was eaten by coyotes.
