DAYTIME TNs (#2): Sin Tu Mirada y Mas - Week of July 29, 2019
- 3-4PM
– Sin Tu Mirada: Ep. 94-95 (Últimas Semanas!)
MIRADA
"Lawyer recommends a DNA test." Isn't it too late for shennanigans? I'm sure Beto will follow every drip drop of saliva all the way through the process. It will only work to Doc Mask's advantage to have LuCrazie slither in while Beto excuses himself to go to the bathroom. But the Doc is on the outs with her right now.
If Lucrazie finds out that a DNA test is needed, she alone knows that the Poor Doc couldn't get his necessary equipment to function properly, so he's NOT the baby-daddy. However, it is to HER advantage, to get Marina out of her hair to try to alter the results in favor of the Doc. Of course, Doc knows, too, he couldn't perform and he knows Lucrazie knows. Ah, what a tangled web we weave...
Last thing--BOTH men have to cooperate with the DNA and Marina has to agree to have the test done on Rafa. She still has her doubts, not knowing Doc Mask never raped her. I hope she's giving it a lot of thought of who she wants to have proven he's the baby-daddy. Let's see who backs out, refuses or plays foul.
I'm pinning my fears that Lucrazie will be the one to play foul. BUT, Doc Mask can't afford to have her unmask him--patient-doctor privilege be damned.
Only 45 minutes to go, folks.
MIRADA
Diana--I so love being able to read your words of wisdom as this story winds down. Here's one that gave me a laugh, "This seems like a dreadful episode Judy yet you made cream out of curd," ONLY because I read "cream out of crud." This was a pretty cruddy episode.
Why does vane continue to take the abuse, physical abuse from her mom? I
Would love to see a Knock down drag out fight. Not that I like see parents
And children physically beat the crap outta each other, but enough of this
Woman(I Use The term woman loosely)and
Her abuse of her grown up daughter, and
She scooting back begging her bitch of
A moma to forgive her? They need to change this sonerio now. Mooch need to
Get her wide butt out and get a job. I
Wonder how her husband died, or if he is even dead. He could be hiding. It could happen.
And this is why no blood test early on
Cuz we would have missed all these exciting Dramatic stuff that's coming
now. Yall know whats coming, the ol "I
Will Switch the blood test" plot. And
It will work for a while, we hate the mask even more, we'll root for beto even more to save his lady love from
The mask-a-nator. And we get to watch
Da lousey make an even bigger fool of himself.
Lino gets to sing. Another song.yaaah!
Yola is better with Erick. Erazmo is trying to hard. He's perfect for our humble Little anita.
Marina has nothing at all on common with Ricky. He doesn't smile. He and
Dami maybe related? His mom is so chipper, and he's more like damiana. If he's happy you cant tell. The man
Does not smile. And marina aint foolin no body with that "we are Novios"! And
When she says it to beto he looks like
Hes about to got to the bathroom.
We gonna have so much fun with this in The next few episodes.
Oh JudyB your recaps bring out the fun
In these silly peoples troubles. Other
Wise we'd be cryin. Thank you love.
Part 1
Man, I'm a little out of breath here. The reveals were coming fast and furious, evil plans were being hatched and dispatched; and we got another Hilda episode in full plumage--hair rollers, dangling blue earrings (who sleeps in earrings like that?) purple sparkly robe with abundant black ostrich feathers on collar and wrist, plus a booze bottle inserted firmly in mouth when not imprecating wee Vanessa. Just. Wow.
The episode opens at the big house with Luis throwing his considerable weight around. He orders Angustias out [Sacate!] so he can kvetch to Prudencia about Doc Sotero getting back into the mix. After all, he thought he was dead. Pru confides that he's been shadowing Marina and knows that she's now with Ricardo Bazán. WHY AM I THE LAST TO KNOW! roars Luis and off he goes to call Beto and roil more waters.
Beto though is still at the vecindad, dealing with a hostile, worried Ricardo, a snotty Damiana and a wide-eyed Marina. He just wants to keep Doc Sotero from hurting her any further, so surely a DNA test proving his paternity is the answer. Nope, they don't think it's necessary.
I just want to shake them, don't you!? Dumb and dumber.
So we'll let up on the pedal a little and visit Fernando and Erick. The latter is coming up short on his job search, but he and Dad end up closer together as both share their mistakes and regrets in life. Erick knows he blew a chance at a great gal by playing cock of the walk at the hospital [el Karma cobre factura] and Dad admits he's in love with a married woman. Further discussion clarifies that he really did love Erick's mom, but couldn't prevent her death. Now, having re-met Prudencia at the fiesta, his long ago feelings for her were reawakened. But for now they're just friends. Erick pretty much says Go for it Dad! She's miserable in her marriage.
Well! Musical chairs, here we go again.
Luis is trying to call Sotero, the charred one [el chamuscado] but comes up empty. Then Chucha calls, weeping and wailing and you've got to come over! I need you!
Elsewhere, the Spider Queen, complete with sinister dark glasses awaits Doc Sotero in a restaurant. He reminds Lucreepycriminal he doesn't like being a puppet and that she owes him a Big Favor for trying to lure him into a risky surgery for her own benefit. So he outlines his plan for a fake DNA test thanks to her professional contacts. Works for him and works for her. Marina will be out of her way as a romantic rival.
I feel sick. Don't you? (It's just a story; just a story)
And Beto is now called to a bar where our hothouse orchid Vanessa is well and truly soused, and fearing arrest and prison. He suggests the alcohol is muddying her thinking. But he's about to learn more as they talk.
Thought about getting a drink myself, when the ads came on. But I stayed strong.
Part 2
Chooch Mooch, looking very staged, is wailing piteously as Luis arrives at the Love Shack. And hands Luis a doleful line about a long term investment of her husband's money coming up short. A fraud! But it would take too long to fight it in court. Now she's bankrupt and was depending on Vanessa's inheritance. But the irresponsible ninny has refused it and burned her bridges with Hilda. Now poor Chucha is ruined! Penniless. Dependent on you my love! Tell me darling that I can count on you!!!
At the bar, Vanessa is giving a slightly different account of events to Beto. Mom and I, we both blew Dad's money. That's why, when we were at the ranch, I pressured you to marry me post haste. And it's why I spurned Lino. No money. But working for Hilda, I finally began to feel some self-respect. I felt useful. I felt loved. But for that reason, I couldn't accept the inheritance. It wasn't fair.
Beto listens. And reassures her she did the right thing by coming clean. And not to worry. His mom Prudencia loves her too. She can come back to their house! He gives her a particularly warm smile and I'm definitely on Team Beto. (Sorry Andy.)
We wind up this segment with a couple of little scenes. Lino is meeting the music guy with the recording studio but lamenting the fact that he has no money to rent it. When Lino leaves for a moment, Waldo reassures the fella that they have all the money they need from a rich gal who's in love with our lyricist. NOT! She's broke and homeless now Waldo. (but it's just a story, just a story)
Vanessa arrives at the big house and Angustias bustles around preparing her room.
Luis roars back in to say he wants a DNA test STAT to protect HIS grandson. Pru tells him she already suggested it but, Ricardo's lawyer has everything under control.
(She does not. But it's just a story. Just a story.) Time to think about the magical cleaning powers of Clorox.
Part 3
Back at the vecindad. Knock knock knock at the door. It's Doc Sotero's lawyer presenting a lawsuit and demanding that Marina present herself to the court to confirm that she's received notice. Details will come later. But Doc Sotero wants to see and live with his son.
Zounds! This is terrible news. Ricardo cancels all his appointments and will go with dear, dumb Marina to court to straighten all this out. And call the lawyer! You know, the one who said "No worries. We'll wait to hear from these folks before taking any action."
Okay. Here comes Hilda. I'm tempted to go through the whole wonderful description of her outfit again, but you remember, right? So let's focus on Beto who thinks he can persuade our wounded, enraged Mama Bear to spare Vanessa any jail time. "I'll never forgive her, I'm gonna dump her in jail and keep her there." (slurp slurp from the bottle, earrings trembling in outrage)
Beto is even presumptuous enough to tell her Big Ed didn't really love wee Vanessa. He just bought her and used her.
Mom begs to differ. He adored her! He showered her with gifts and attention!
Alright. Maybe I'm not on Team Beto. Who does he think he is? But he's trying to protect our hothouse flower and who knows? maybe Hilda's heart will soften a bit. We'll wait and see.
Back to the big house. Prudencia wants to know if Vanessa is going to go back to work. -No. Angustias steps in and sez It's time to tell Prudencia the truth.
Oh boy. Here we go.
Part 4
Prudencia doesn't like the whole sordid story she's hearing from our Vane. -But you lied to everybody, including the police! -Well, Vane didn't want to be accused of killing her despised husband.
It's all just too much for Prudencia and she leaves the room. Angustias reassures Vane that she'll talk to her. No need for Vanessa to be back on the mean, cold streets again. Not yet anyway.
Oh boy...more Hilda. With Susana. The Battle of the Titans. But Hilda wins easily. If you dare to fight me for one single penny, I'll make sure your daughter ends up in prison! And throws the baggage out!
More brief scenes. Angustias advocates for Vane, reminding Pru that Susana pushed and pushed her daughter to marry for money. And always led her a hellish life. Vanessa now needs you more than ever, Angustias reminds her.
And Muñoz is interrogating Claudia. But in a gentle way as befits his new, peaceful persona. Did she have anything to do with the pharmacy robbery? No! Well, does she have anything against his son Erick? Why gosh no!(guilty look) Fernando knows about the scene in the bar but doesn't call her on it. But you can be sure she's rethinking things. She leaves. He sighs. More to follow. Perhaps.
Sotero and his fishy lawyer are back in the apartment hatching various crappy plans to gain custody of dear little Rafa. Ramona calls to tell Doc Mask about Ricardo canceling all appointments. So the know he and Marina are at the Juzgado (court). With an evil chuckle, Doc Ugly says "Well now, I think it's time for me to just stop by there myself.
If he had a mustache, he'd be twirling it right now.
Final Part
And it's a dilly. Luis finds out that there was no fraud involved in the disappearance of Susita's money. She just spent it all. But he refuses to believe it at first.
Meanwhile, Dumb Marina and Worried Ricardo are meeting with Dumb Lawyer. Golly gee whiz, no I don't have any DNA proof of parentage but I'm sure Alberto Ocaranza is the father, chirps Marina. Oh well then...
Evil Doc arrives with an "Hola Bonita" and various sneers and veiled threats. Lady lawyer tells them not to get in a fight here in the corridor. Save it for the judge.
We zip back to the vecindad where Erasmo is trying to gain points with Margarito by serving him broth. Where's Yola? Well, evidently she was being supportive of dear, dumb Marina after she learned of Doc Sotero's lawsuit.
Back to the Big House and the Big Reveal. Prudencia tells a stunned Luis that Vanessa knew they were dead broke when they came to stay with them at the ranch. In fact dead broke when she went up to Canada to seduce Beto while he was getting his degree. And furthermore, there was no robbery at the apartment. That was just another story to get them moved into the big house.
Cara impactada de Luis. What fun!
Tomorrow Anita, my most favorite person in the whole wide world, will be giving me a TGIF by taking over recapping duties for the night. I'll be out having dinner and a BIG DRINK. (but it's just a story; just a story)
Chime in now Patio.
Thank you for another stellar recap, Judy, and a perfect title. I really don’t know how you do it. In the famous words of Wayne and Garth (Wayne’s World), “we’re not worthy!” You have more than earned tomorrow off. Enjoy!!!
”Zounds!”
Ooooh, now there’s a word I have not read in …. decades! I love it.
Oh my, Vanessa is on a roll! And Chu’s lies to Luis about her finances have been revealed!
"Cara impactada de Luis. What fun!"
Fun, indeed! It was great.
” And this is why no blood test early on
Cuz we would have missed all these exciting Dramatic stuff that's coming
now.”
Exactly, Nina! It’s like it is one of the Telenovela Rules. ;-)
” so surely a DNA test proving his paternity is the answer. Nope, they don't think it's necessary.
I just want to shake them, don't you!? Dumb and dumber.”
Isn’t that the truth!?! Sooner or later, our idiot heroina Marina is going to have to do a DNA test. Punto. This makes me wonder (please no spoilers until it’s all over!!!) how paternity in the original version got sorted out pre-DNA tests)
”Golly gee whiz, no I don't have any DNA proof of parentage but I'm sure Alberto Ocaranza is the father, chirps Marina. Oh well then...”
I have had it up to “here” with Marina refusing the DNA test. At this point, let Doc Nut Job take the baby away. (I need to see if “kidnapping” is on my Bingo card…..)
Poor Hilda. She looked like a walking Mardi Gras parade in that getup. I’m hoping she will work thru her grief, forgive, and offer Vane a position with the company. (I know …. dream on.) It would be difficult, very difficult, to be told a child you adore was a jerk if he had never shown that side of his personality to you the mother.
New CrockPot Theory™ --- Erick will learn just how hard it is to get a job out there in the real world, and re-dedicate himself to that medical career.
…we got another Hilda episode in full plumage--hair rollers, dangling blue earrings Gotta luv her! She hides nothing and is true to herself. I’m hoping that her heart softens eventually. Vanessa surely needs a break and they both need each other.
Beto though is still at the vecindad, dealing with a hostile, worried Ricardo, a snotty Damiana and a wide-eyed Marina. Did y’all catch those little smiles Marina gave Beto when he was offering to help. She still has the hots for him! Sorry, Andy…a slight hope of a reconciliation after Beto proves himself worthy still flickers. If he doesn’t prove himself…I’m gluing myself to the Team Nobody table.
I feel sick. Don't you? Yup, sick as a dog…give me some tequila…Lucrazy and El Mask working together again…BARF!
It’s about time the truth came out about all of Chooch’s lies…can’t wait till the Louse kicks he to the curb…would love to see her beggin’ in the streets and sleeping among her relatives…the rats.
more Hilda. With Susana. The Battle of the Titans. Oh I’d hate to write down how I could misspell “Titans” LOL Chooch has met her match…and is being slammed…LUV. IT.
Evil Doc arrives with an "Hola Bonita" and various sneers and veiled threats. Lady lawyer tells them not to get in a fight here in the corridor. Save it for the judge. Where. Was. Lino??? Ughhh! The Abominable Masked Monster was so annoying and obnoxious…just hateful!
Oooh, Anita…can’t wait for your recap tomorrow! I know it’ll be sensational!
Thank you, JudyB, glad you're getting a much needed break. Could you tell that I was waiting for Part 5 again? :-)
Doris--Of course you're worthy! But thanks. Really. And I like your Crockpot theory about Erick re-dedicating himself to medicine. I mean, he MUST have learned something...no? And it's got to pay better than bartending. After all, he may have to put Yola through law school.
Rgv Chick--Right you are! Marina's eyes were shining and her lips were smiling and no wonder Ricardo looked worried. The ground is shaking under his little, devoted feet.
So Beto better come through in a big way. 'Cause it's no fun to be on Team Nobody.
And you're right. Fabulous Anita is going to knock your socks off tomorrow, Patio. I'm lucky and you're luckier.
Loved every word, JudyB!
Wow, I’ve just realized I’m really dumb haha apparently I forgot about Doc Mask’s problem downstairs. Did he discover the problem back when he had Marina imprisoned in his house? I missed a lot of episodes around the time in the plot that Luis helped him and when the DNA tests on Luis, Pru, Beto and Marina were done and when Beto and Marina broke up etc.
So it’s obvious who the father is but also Doc Mask and Lu are aware of his problem so that’s a perfect setup for a fake paternity test. I had a feeling that was gonna happen anyway even when I forgot about the ED lol
Hilda is quite the character. A bit comical to see her in a robe, with curlers in her hair and drinking straight from the bottle. Whatever Beto said was obviously not going to make her back down.
I wonder if Luis’ opinion of Chucha will change now that he knows she lied to him. A confrontation is likely. Obviously Pru already said she was gonna talk to her too. Vanessa unfortunately had to go along with everything but she wasn’t the mastermind.
Stellar, stellar "[Sacate!] and "[el Karma cobre factura]" Judy.
"our hothouse orchid Vanessa is well and truly soused", "various crappy plans" and "various sneers and veiled threats" were among many favorites.
"a doleful line". Another fantastic word that gets far too little usage. I'm impressed.
Isn't "I just want to shake them, don't you!?" in the TN handbook? I suggest T shirts for all.
"Thought about getting a drink myself, when the ads came on. But I stayed strong" and "Time to think about the magical cleaning powers of Clorox" made me belly laugh.
doris, thanks for the Wayne's World nod. Totally agree with your comment. Actually, I think the show isn't worthy (not watching it), but the recaps and comments are priceless.
Rgv Chick, I am with you on eagerly awaiting Anita's recap. I know we are in for a treat!
Judy, enjoy yourself and have a wonderful evening tomorrow.
Thank you for giving us so much to enjoy and savor.
Diana
WHOOPS! ANITA WILL BE RECAPPING ON FRIDAY THE 9th. NOT TOMORROW. AND SHE'S ALSO KINDLY OFFERED TO RECAP FOR ME ON THE 5TH.
So I'll be in the scribe's chair tomorrow night but it will be late. I'm still going to go out to dinner and who knows? I might be as soused as Hilda or Vanessa when I get home to finally write the recap, but I'll do my best. LOL
Hi TF--love your "problem downstairs". Very discreet. I missed a lot of episodes around that time also. I don't like to watch when things get truly ugly. And at the time, our dedicated Rgv Chick was doing the recaps.
Like you, I'm looking forward to a really down and dirty confrontation between Luis and Susana. But as our shrewd Doris pointed out, our Chooch Mooch has him by the short hairs. So he may have to keep funding that Love Shack and her credit card.
Diana--Ay yi yi, amiga mia. When things get really intense, I actually look forward to the ads. Even the Clorox ones. And the action and atmosphere were truly intense this afternoon. Thank goodness we have such a great Patio. Makes the pain all worth it. Must add that one of my favorite ads is all the guys looking horrified when they miss seeing a fabulous soccer goal on TV. Their facial expressions are hilarious. They should all be fully employed actors. Thanks for always dropping by to encourage us and share in the misery.
JudyB, thank you for this excellent presentation of today's story. I was out today so I couldn't watch it, but I recorded it. According to my DVR the recording is length zero bytes, zero seconds. Oh, no!
Oh, yes, no recording. Our local Univision station changed channel number today, though I can't see a difference. Anyway, I reset everything and should get a recording of the 2 AM showing. Here's hoping. And it's another chance to compare reading the recap first, then watching, with the reverse. This is one I don't want to miss.
In any event I'm looking forward to seeing Hilda acting out. I hope she and Vane can make up somehow, they are so good for each other.
Enjoy your dinner out and don't worry about putting up the recap. We will have all weekend to savor it whenever it's put up.
more tomorrow
OT
Is it possible that Clorox has more uses than WD40?
andy
Andy--I'm glad you'll have a chance to study the 2 am showing of this episode. Your darling Lucrecia had a truly nasty smile when she was plotting with Doc Sotero to deep-six Marina. Truly truly nasty. Observe. And think, my friend. Think.
Regardless, you will enjoy Hilda's star turn. Sort of a combo of Come Back Little Sheba and Joan Crawford, plus a touch of Hillbilly with Money. The wardrobe people and the actress must be having an absolute ball with this one.
Anyway glad we can all laugh together at this nonsense. We’ve got a Blue Ribbon Patio going here.
Judy: I had a sneaking suspicion LuCrazy & Creepy Doc were in cahoots.
Their special diets:
Creepy Doc wants Marina again ? Let's hope he doesn't lock her up in that cabin if he grabs her
LuCrazy obsessed with Beto.
"Regardless, you will enjoy Hilda's star turn. Sort of a combo of Come Back Little Sheba and Joan Crawford, plus a touch of Hillbilly with Money. The wardrobe people and the actress must be having an absolute ball with this one."
And don't forget the hair curlers! Including the ones falling out of the back of her head! And the big red satin eye mask up on her forehead. Wardrobe are having so much fun with her,,as are we.
Steve--Your "special diets" quip is interesting.
Doris--Ah yes, how could I leave out the multiple and multi-colored hair rollers (I guess it would be no problem to sleep with dangling earrings if you could sleep with THOSE) and the velveteen face mask.
Just further confirms my suspicion that cast and crew are having a blast and that's why we're enjoying the show so much. People are loving their work on this one and it shows.
Boy, you had me going for awhile, preparing the Patio for a "knock your socks off" recap from Anita tonight. Thanks, but this is summertime and it's barefeet and sandals weather. Your intrepid reporter just dishes out the facts, ma'ams and sirs.
Louis is in more trouble than just getting ratted out by SustheMooch. He's now falsified TWO sets of documents regarding Rafa's birth parents. I sure hope some green-shaded clerk at the court can detect it. Marina not having Rafa's birth certificate before they left the hospital reminds me that....it's just a story, it's just a story. Oh, I remember, she bolted early, still, they could have found her. Hospitals don't just take care of new mothers without some paperwork.
TF--Not sure when Doc Mask realized his special plumbing didn't work correctly, but WE got to see him sitting on the side of the bed, with Marina still knocked out chemically, and saying that he just couldn't. What we weren't sure of THEN, was he apologizing in some way for not wanting to harm her or that he was sorry he couldn't go through with the act.
Next we found out that upon an exam, Marina had not been physically sexually abused--i.e. no penetration. Even though she still has no memory of what actually happened, she's worried that Doc Spitted and Charred could be telling the truth. She insists that whatever happened was NOT consensual. So it's there that we get the he said it was and she said it wasn't that he will use in court.
Until he got Lucrazycriminal to go along with his new plot, he was not certain of his position, other than just brazenly behave as if it were true. We must not forget that she has a whole slew of supporters, and ones that knew Luis had dumped her on the Doc, hoping it was the last he would ever see of her and ones who knew of her assault and rescue. Ramona is the Doc's only loyal person and she swears she saw sex going on. (Can anyone remember who rescued her?)
Oh, rats! I did not get to see Thursday's episode. I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing and, instead of killing power to the TV so the sound wouldn't come up and make me think someone was having a party in my living room at 2 AM, I killed power to the DVR.
Why do I still think I can do three things at once when I can barely manage one? :-(
I really did want to see this episode especially, but at least I have Judy's recap. :-)
andy
ANITA - if memory serves me right (ha!) I think Beto rescued Marina from Doc Nut Job's clutches when Luis told him where she was.
TF is correct... I found it: http://caraycaray.blogspot.com/2019/05/daytime-tns-1-dona-flor-sin-tu-mirada-y_13.html
(Um, yeah, I need to get a life. LOL)
I FEEL MY HEART START TO TREMBLING, WHENEVER YOU'RE AROUND
Part 1
The tide has turned, folks. I really thought Beto was a goner and Ricardo was a winner, but that last scene in the café-- Wowza. If you're on Team Beto, you're shaking' the pom poms right now. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Lots of turgid water under the bridge to explore before we get to that point.
We open with naive Erick thinking he can talk his way into being a restaurant chef without having attended culinary school. Hey, he can cook delicious food [para chuparse los dedos} he assures the sceptical interviewer. And finds the only post up for offer is as a waiter or a dishwasher. Welcome to reality, young Dr. Muñoz. Will he take humble pie and work his way up? Or go back to bartending? Guess we'll have to wait until Monday to find out.
At the hospital, Ricardo is scrambling around making sure that Rita can fill in for Marina for a while. He's also putting Mama Enriqueta in the know about the worst possible consequences of Sotero's lawsuit (custody of Rafa)and revealing his own insecurity. He's going to be sure and accompany Marina to that meeting with Beto. No way is she going there alone! Mama calls him out on his jealousy but to no avail.
Someone else who wants to be in on that meeting--Boa Constrictor Lucreepy who's stroking and winding herself around Beto in a vain attempt to include herself in the DNA confab. After all, she loves him...madly, madly, and wants to be supportive! Cuddle cuddle. And as a woman, she also wants to be supportive to good friend Marina. It makes so much sense! I need to be there. Beto doesn't think so and after an ominous "Let's give it some time to see if I'm really the man for you--I have a lot of baggage" he unpeels her grasping fingers inch by inch and makes his escape. Whew! That was close.
We get a very brief scene of Fernando calling Prudencia to tell her how well his last visit with Erick went and a plea for another coffee date. She seems to put him off, pleading lots of family problems at the moment (ya think?) but ends up meeting him briefly later. Start the musical chairs set up. I see big changes coming.
I FEEL MY HEART START TO TREMBLING, WHENEVER YOU'RE AROUND
Feeling confused? Actually, we didn't open with Erick's job seeking conversation. (Yes, I truly enjoyed my Prosecco tonight and I'm feeling no pain.) So let's re-boot. My opening paragraph still stands:
The tide has turned, folks. I really thought Beto was a goner and Ricardo was a winner, but that last scene in the café-- Wowza. If you're on Team Beto, you're shaking' the pom poms right now. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Lots of turgid water under the bridge to explore before we get to that point.
We actually open with Marg groaning and bemoaning the absence of his would-be physical therapist Erick. Yola is not a good substitute. And besides he knows she still loves him, even though she snaps that if she thinks about the guy it's because Dad keeps mentioning him!
Luis is roiling mad and is vowing that for Chooch "te vas a cargar el payaso" The most discreet translation I can come up with is there is going to be a S..t Storm brewing in the Love Shack.
Beto arrives in a weird blue jacket with a purple boutonniere (but he's wearing it in the credits when he's with Marina so maybe this means something) and is ready to berate Susana when she arrives at the big house in a self-righteous lather. How dare you hit and abuse your daughter!? Don't you dare ever touch her again!
Chooch is all boo-hoo and I was undone by the shock and humiliation and woe is me but it's not cutting any ice--not with Beto. Not with Prudencia. She tries to plead that all she wanted was Vanessa's happiness and she believed little Vane was truly in love. Nope. All you wanted was your own happiness, snarls Beto. Okay. Our galan is looking better all the time. Defender of womanhood right and left.
Poor Chooch has been de-fanged. All she can do is pound Vanessa's bed, not Vanessa. No fun at all! And has to listen to daughter say "No more. No more of this farce. I lost the love of my life because of you. So go! And she does.
I FEEL MY HEART START TO TREMBLING, WHENEVER YOU'RE AROUND
Part 3
So if you're really trying to read this in consecutive order, you should now zip back to "Part 1" which is really "Part 2". Or you can say what the hell, and just go with the flow like I am.
This section starts with the artsy fartsy camera shot through glass of the Love Shack. I used to think it was to spare us the horror of Luis and Chooch en flagrante but this time he's just got her by the jaw and is tossing her around like a rag doll; while he berates her for all her lies. He knows now there was no bank fraud. She just blew all her husband's money like the "gorrone" {mooch} that she was. Always quick on her feet, Chooch, in addition to pleading true love and all that, now reboots and says actually her husband blew all the money on high living and low women. And she was too ashamed to let it be known. So she's been faking all this time trying to maintain appearances. But honestly, she's pure as the driven snow and loves him with all her heart and soul. And gee whiz, I was going to pay you back some of that money when Vanessa got her inheritance.
Nope. You'd played with fire and now you're going to reap the hellish consequences. More jaw gripping and shaking.
He's selling the apartment, the furniture and taking back the credit card. Not the credit card! She's got one month to get herself organized. Crocodile tears flow copiously. To no avail.
There were other little scenes, but none quite as soul satisfying as that one. Pru actually does have coffee with Fernando and he fills in some more details on Erick's dream of starting a gastro pub (it's a millennial thing)and for the first time seeing his son truly happy. And Lucreepy is still trying to hang on to Beto who's shaking her off like a flea. Team Beto is really starting to look good.
I FEEL MY HEART START TO TREMBLING, WHENEVER YOU'RE AROUND
Part 4
Well, are you singing with me yet? Are you going "Oooooh baby, when I...." Okay. Maybe that wasn't your song. But it was one of mine. Back to our story:
Ricardo is making a pest of himself, wanting to come along with Marina when she meets with Alberto. She tries to fend him off like Beto did with Lucreepy but it doesn't work.
But we've got another meeting coming up. This one unplanned. Lino is at the big house waiting for a phone number he needs. Vanessa appears at the top of the steps. Stunning in a white sweater, dark slacks and that hair. Too bad there are no shampoo commercials in this one.
Anyway, there's the LOOK. You know the one. The one that says I'm dying to fall into your arms and ravage you with kisses, right here, right now. And maybe more! But they manage to have a very civilized, coherent conversation instead (guess neither one had any Prosecco)where she quietly explains how she learned the importance of work, responsibility and feeling useful. And how money is only good if you have earned it yourself.
And furthermore, it's no substitute for what is really important--LOVE!
Know anyone who can give me a job? she adds. I've been bounced out of Hilda's life and the office, so I'm looking for something.
Well that something turns out to be a good-bye kiss for starters. Which begins on the cheek, but somehow ends up almost brushing the lips. He pulls back. But looks...well, like the earth is trembling under his feet. He's out of there, but you know Vanessa is right back firmly ensconced in his heart and his mind. In fact she never left.
What about our other two erstwhile lovers? each dragging along behind them a shadow stalker. Ricardo is waiting outside the room as he promised to do (but not before laying a "I'm marking my territory" kiss on Marina) and Lucrecia has crept into the café as well, in stealth mode dark glasses. But you can't miss that hair! And Ricardo doesn't. He knows she's there scouting the territory.
Marina, at last, is explaining to Beto why she was so sure why her baby was his. It wasn't just a "corazonada" [hunch, strong feeling]. It was because the doctor who examined her found no indication of violence or semen. So she feels confident that Doc Sotero didn't rape her.
I FEEL MY HEART START TO TREMBLING, WHENEVER YOU'RE AROUND
Final Part
Beto asks the very reasonable question: WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME THIS BEFORE? Of course he does it more nicely than that. In fact he's being very gentle and shedding a regretful tear or two while he's at it. Definitely gaining traction with yours truly (or is it the Prosecco talking?) Nah. I felt this way before dinner also.
So here's Marina's reasoning. You doubted me. I needed your unconditional support. I thought our love was invincible. When I saw that it wasn't, I was so terribly disillusioned.
Beto weeps a bit more, regretting all the time they lost, all the tender moments they could have had as a family.
But..what if the baby IS Doc Sotero's? "I know I'll love little Rafa no matter whose he is," answers Marina firmly. "But I'll die if he takes him away from me."
So will we Marina! So will we!
Beto weeps some more, begging forgiveness for his rage and his pride. He needed time to process the horrid happenings of the past, but if he could have matured more quickly, then they would have been able to stay together.
Marina points out though that there would have always been the shadow of Doctor Sotero between them.
Well, it won't happen. He won't get Rafa. And he hugs her. A big hug. And gets hugged back. And somehow through all this, he stopped being Doctor Ocaranza and became her Alberto once again.
Are those wedding bells I hear in the background?
The writers throw in some other little interludes. Angustias confabbing with Vanessa about the near lip lock and vowing that if God wants Vane and Lino to be together, they will be. So there!
And Lino's back in the vecindad talking about Vanessa's changes to Erasmo. Who helpfully reminds him that he's already got a girlfriend--Anita!
Back to the Main Event. Beto wants to hustle the baby off to the hospital right now and get the DNA sorted out. Marina says they have to consult her lawyer. Evidently only data from certain labs is legally accepted.
Oh well. The meeting ends with Alberto reminding her that she will always be the love of his life. But he won't try and push aside Ricardo.
Wanna bet?
And there we end. But I've got a game proposal for the weekend. Since the musical chairs are beginning, if you had to characterize someone as a drink, what would it be?
For instance: Luis would be a Dark n Stormy. Fernando--Almond milk.
Vanessa would be a light wine cooler. Anita--Diet Pepsi
Chucha--Thunderbird Wine. Hilda -Tequila. no other choice
Have fun with it. I'm off for a cup of strong coffee!
Judy - I love the title of your recap and will be singing it in my head this weekend. I wore out my TAPESTRY album. Thank you for your snarktastic recap!!!
My favs:
- “Boa Constrictor Lucreepy” --- yesss! She looked like Velcro.
- “And Lucreepy is still trying to hang on to Beto who's shaking her off like a flea.”
- “The most discreet translation I can come up with is there is going to be a S..t Storm brewing in the Love Shack.” LOL!
- “Poor Chooch has been de-fanged. All she can do is pound Vanessa's bed, not Vanessa.“
That was mostly because Angustias was there….for that very purpose.
- “It wasn't just a "corazonada" [hunch, strong feeling].” (THANK YOU for that translation, Judy)
And I definitely am on board with Hilda = Tequila.
It was very gratifying to see Chucha busted by Luis. Once the dust settles, she will likely think to blackmail him.
But seriously, Patio, I think PruLu are over, stick a fork in them, done, Elvis has left the building done, when she finds out about his adultery with Chu.
And how nice to see Beto & Marina actually talking, like adults. THERE's a concept!!! And about time, since we probably have four more weeks to go.
I think this has 112 episodes? And this is #95. Ultimas Semanas are around the corner.
Hmmmmm . . . I wonder what will replace it?
While Fernando doesn't look to be near as exciting as our fiery Luis, whether in bed or out of it, maybe at this point Prudencia is just looking for a good companion and a good night's sleep. Could work.
MIRADA
Judy, I agree about Fernando. He seems nice, honest, straightforward, and not the narcissistic megalomaniac that Luis has turned out to be. I'm starting a Fernando table on The Patio. :-)
And we will be serving up unsweetened vanilla almond milk at the Fernando table. Unless you come up with something different, Doris.
I might be off in a corner sneaking in sips of a Dark n Stormy, but maybe not.
MIRADA
Excellent title Judy! Carole King’s lyrics are as good and powerful as ever aren't they? I'm singing along with you and doris.
"[para chuparse los dedos", "Will he take humble pie and work his way up?" and "
"te vas a cargar el payaso" were fantastic. What a fun ride this was.
My favorite was "The most discreet translation I can come up with is there is going to be a S..t Storm brewing in the Love Shack". "self-righteous lather" and "gorrone" {mooch}" also made me smile.
"What about our other two erstwhile lovers? each dragging along behind them a shadow stalker" was great.
"He seems nice, honest, straightforward, and not the narcissistic megalomaniac that Luis has turned out to be". Doris I don't know who Fernando is but you made me chuckle with this.
I'm familiar with few characters except for Doc Sotero. I think your Dark n Stormy might be a great one for him. Another might be Purple Dank (something I just learned of as one of the most dangerous drinks).
Obvious you are all having so much fun. Thanks for letting me hang around the patio.
Judy, everything you craft is pure pleasure. You are a marvel...gracias!
Diana
Loved this episode! Thanks JudyB!
I was tearing up a little bit watching Marina and Beto’s conversation. My heart may have broken at the end when Beto said that Marina would always be the love of his life. I didn’t think of this conversation as a goodbye or even a complete apology but it needed to be had. I bet Lucreepy thought she arrived to spy on M and B unnoticed.
Lu didn’t seem too discouraged by Beto’s “it’s not you, it’s me” argument. But obviously that’s not surprising. She and Doc Mask are already setting up their plans. Things could get ugly. Ric on the other hand should man up a little and accept the potential reality. Marina may be his girlfriend but he is not the father of her child and it benefits everyone that Beto is the father and not Doc Mask. He could potentially be a father figure but Marina is not really holding anything against Beto anymore and I’m sure she would change her mind and truly want Beto in Rafa’s life no matter what happens. They are on a first name basis again haha
I didn’t like Erasmo’s use of the word “dueña” referring to Anita and Lino’s relationship with her. A lot of times in telenovelas the phrase “dueño/a de mi corazón” is used but obviously that phrase does not apply to Lino and Anita...at least on Lino’s end. But it was nice to see Vanessa and Lino have a calm, civil conversation. The spark between them is definitely still there.
Chucha may have to come up with a new plan, but what will it be? She obviously can’t control Vanessa anymore and find another rich guy and play matchmaker. Vanessa is not stupid anymore. I kinda think it’d be totally weird for Chucha to find a man for herself that isn’t Luis...idk lol I’d be surprised if she does.
Dark n Stormy ingredients are lovely. Strong dark rum, ginger beer (NOT ginger ale) and a dash of lime. Carlos and Sylvia Sharkbait used to rhapsodize about Dark n Stormies. I don't think I'd want to let Doc Sotero have that one. Maybe some adulterated grain alcohol from the Dominican Republic for our evil doc.
I looked up Purple Dank but it seemed to be some form of "weed", not a drink. But you may have other sources. Anyway, interesting suggestion my friend. You're traveling in wild and woolly circles out east!
TF...Hopefully Ricardo can see the wisdom of bringing Beto back into the mix. But right now I do understand his insecurity and jealousy--even if I am on Team Beto. Ricardo has been nothing but a perfect gentleman and trusted friend so far. But I think the waters are about to get choppy for our good doc.
As for Chooch, ah sweet indeed to imagine her scrambling for another source of income. Not sure she has a lot of options right now. Unless Doris is right, and she can try to leverage the affair as a threat to Luis' marriage. Which obviously he wants to maintain. So far, Chooch has always had a Plan B. So who knows?
JudyB, thank you! A great recap and a great title from great lyrics and spot on for this episode.
OK, things are not looking good for Ricky, but I'm not budging. Once again I'll admit that Ricky is not a knockout galán. He should get the hair out of his eyes, go to the gym or at least walk around the block once in a while, and buy clothes a size up from what he wears now (nobody is interested in his pipe stem arms anyway).
The real problem is Beto. Marina laid it out for him, "You doubted me. I needed your unconditional support. I thought our love was invincible. When I saw that it wasn't, I was so terribly disillusioned." Talk is cheap but when it came crunch time Beto just didn't man up.
I think Marina should forgive him. Nobody is perfect, she isn't either. Forgive him but move on.
I'm still happy with "The Ice Queen from Hell", Nina's delightfully incongruous moniker for my Lucrecia. She's still great fun, especially with those dark glasses, the perfect disguise for her. :-)
Vanesa was wonderfully framed at the top of the stairs, and dressed to make eyes pop. I want good things for Vane, I just don't know what they might be, but I would definitely like to see her and Hilda reconcile.
Judy! Tsk, tsk! I was talking earlier tonight to a couple just in from the Dominican Republic, here to visit friends and relations and they told me that back in the R.D. people are upset about all the bad press. Their take on it is that older, moneyed tourists stay at luxury resorts there and despite the fact that they are older and usually on a number of prescription meds they engage in, um, risky behavior and imbibe large quantities of alcoholic beverages.
I got an earful. :-)
andy
Andy, Andy, Andy...Boy I love your Buff Up Plan for Ricardo. I'm imagining his head now on top of Dwayne Johnson's body. What a treat that would be! (Back in a moment after some further fantasizing.)
And while I can't argue with your judgment on Beto, I'm going to have to stick with our very flawed, imperfect, messed up galan.
Marina was in love with a dream. Those perfect guys don't exist. Now she needs to move on. But move on to actually loving the imperfect and perhaps still immature fellow that Alberto probably is. He will disappoint her again at some point. She will probably annoy the hell out of him at another. But carry on. You've got a little guy to raise.
And thanks for reminding me of "Nina's delightfully incongruous moniker" for Lucrecia. I'm going to argue that it contains a profound spiritual truth. Lucrecia's heart is so stone-cold that even in the fires of hell, she would not melt. However I am hoping that she's like the Wicked Witch of the East and if you pour a bucket of water on her, she'll would indeed melt away into a sad little puddle.
And we will all pray that the Tourism Industry in the Dominican Republic rebounds and that the foolish adults on vacation start behaving with a little more wisdom. Always a good idea.
As for Lucreepy, has she never watched Reina de Corazones? All you need to hide your identity, especially when everyone is looking for you is a baseball cap? Well, she would have to tie her hair up in a bun, then the baseball cap wouldn't fit right. She needs to look perfect, in and out of a lab coat.
"As for Lucreepy, has she never watched Reina de Corazones?"
-- Lu might not get Telemundo in her cable TV package.
Wow Anita. Good memory. Doris and Mely are the visual consultants, but you’re our historian. Another important missed step in the sad tale of Beto and Marina’s relationship. As for the cap idea, hah! Can’t expect Rapunzel to cover up that glorious hair.
And by the way, thanks for nailing Hilda’s resemblance to Christine Baranski. So right. And that actress was simply fabulous in the quirky Christmas movie The Ref.
Doris—we get Telemundo but I never check out the shows. And if it weren’t for my husband I wouldn’t even know about Univision. He knew I was beavering away trying to teach myself Spanish and clued me in.
Who mentioned Christine Baranski hair on Hilda? I totally agree. I'm a Baranski fan, anyway, and am somewhat envious of her hair.
I'm quite late to this party, but I'm here...finally. JudyB, It doesn't matter what order you put the scenes in; you write with such clarity and detail that it is easy to follow. Obviously, the Prosecco had no effect on your snarkasm.
First of all, love, love, LOVE the title...one of my favorite songs to sing along to...by myself of course :-)
Doris and Diana have already pointed out my favorites, so DITTO to those; thanks Doris and Diana!
I don't have much to add since everyone has already covered just about everything I wants to say. the only thing would be to add or give suggestions to your "drink" list
Lucreepy -> Red Viper (Cocktail)
Doc Mask -> Infected Brain Cocktail or how about just plain Prune Juice
RGV Chick,...Love the suggestion of Red Viper! Going to look up the ingredients now. And I catch your drift...how about just a big PURGE for the monstrous doc.
Just perusing my stock, I've come up with:
Damiana - Whiskey SOUR
Baldo - Sloe Gin Fizz. Kept his feelings suppressed for too long, should be called Sloe Gin Fizzle.
Toribio - Grasshopper (w/Crème de Menthe, Crème de Cacao & heavy cream) Always jumping around
Lino - Autumn Punch (w/Calvados, honey, lemon juice, cardamom, cinnamon, allspice, cloves and lots of cranberry juice) Sweet, but packs a WALLOP
Doc Mask - Mojito Diablo
Margarito - Margarita
Eric - Harvey Wallbanger, never seen a guy hit so many walls with Yola and keeps coming back for more
Marina - Chambord Kiss (w/Bailey's Irish Cream), can't get much sweeter than this
Susana - Bloodbath (w/Chambord, Cabernet Sauvignon and splash of Cranberry juice)
Lucreepy - Some kind of healthy GREEN, UNSWEET smoothie, to which she adds lots of vodka, as long as no one notices, since she's so perfect, AND, if we throw a bucket of water on her, she will melt
Beto - Gatorade, he's either on a sugar high or hitting the low before needing another shot
Rick - Side Car, he thinks he's it for Marina, but he's really on the side
Prudencia - Brandy Alexander, if they made a Brandy Fernando, that would have been perfect. As it is, it's as bland as Fernando's Almond milk, with a little kick to it.
I like JudyB's selections for:
"Luis would be a Dark n Stormy
Fernando--Almond milk.
Vanessa would be a light wine cooler
Anita--Diet Pepsi (how apt since that is what I drink on a hot day)
Chucha--Thunderbird Wine
Hilda -Tequila. no other choice"
RGV Chick, I like Red Viper, too. Sumooch can have more than one label.
Doc Mask - Prune juice. It does make one want to go and is shriveled up on the surface, but prunes are the good guys. We need something really evil for him.
1 1/2 cups honey
3/4 cup lemon juice
6 whole cardamom seeds
3 3 inch cinnamon sticks
1 tsp whole allspice
2 tsp whole clove
1 1/2 quart cranberry juice
5 cup apple cider
5 cup apricot nectar
3 quart ginger ale
ice crushed
Calvados to taste
Combine first 6 ingredients in a saucepan; bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 10-15 min. Strain and discard spices. Chill. Combine chilled mixture with remaining juices and ginger ale. Serve over crushed ice. Yield: 7-1/2 quarts. (NOTE: This needs some adjusting to work with the Calvados, but the cardamom got me.)
Recap is very telling. Like vane
Let all the jewels outta the bag
Moma moochie is officially a big

Luis, "nobody tells me anything"
Well if he was a proper father to His daughter instead of a jerk One to her and beto, people would talk to him all the time.
No body wants to talk to a butt
Head.
Ok thems my thoughts on this one
Now I'll read the Fridays episode later.
Thank you JudyB you keep wowing us with your steller hilarious recapping skills.
Oh wow, you are very creative Anita, but it doesn't surprise me that you would come up with a perfect list to add to JudyB's. I agree that it must have taken quite a bit of thought and time to come up with a those superbly matched drinks. I had my afternoon entertainment, thanks!
Nina, "Moma moochie is officially a big
Ol moocher. And pru now knows her so-called bff is a big fat Ol liar." You just made me think of a new meaning for BFF == BIG FAT FARCE :-)
Anita...those cocktail recipes sound divine. You might turn me into a drinker yet. But then, alas I would sleep all the time.
Rgv Chick...Yes, Big Fat Farce, or Big Fat Faker or Big Fat Fibber Big Fat Freak and I'd better stop there...who knew there were so many good "f" words? Too bad we can't spell "philanderer" with an "f" instead.
However you spin it, Luis and Susana are about to be found out!
PS Hope little Star is continuing to make progress. And no more big dogs!
Alexa, put Prosecco on my shopping list!
I am late to the patio having just caught Thursday and Friday
We were all waiting for Luis reacting to the unmasking of Chucha. I think he is unlikely to change his mind. He, the Great Betrayer, doesn’t like.betrayal. Who knew?
Yola holding Rafie talking to Marina. Everyone seems to cuddle the baby except it’s mom!
Final coupling is shaping up. The writers are making the second choices less attractive.
Claudia is a fine actress
Even Beto impressed me today!
Mely
"So she has some where to land when she takes off from dL international airport."
This is hilarious!
RgvChick - what has happened to Star? Is this one of your goats? 🙏🏻 I saw a comment or two in the prime time patio and tried to look back, but couldn't find info.
Good morning Ms. Mely. Glad you stopped by. Not the same when you and our Ms. Nina are among the missing.
You made a good point about Marina and her baby. Ever since the little fella was born, he seems to have mostly been in the care of others, Damiana (Whiskey Sour), Anita (Diet Pepsi), Yola (Morena de Fuego) and even Margarito (cerveza or tequila)! Well, they say "it takes a village" and I guess there should be some upside to sharing living space with a gazillion other people. The maternal bonding was certainly cut short when she went in for eye surgery a few hours (practically!) after having given birth. (It's just a story, just a story)
As for Prosecco, honestly! I'm such a wimpy drinker. My friend and I split a wee tiny bottle of the stuff so neither one of us gets more than an ounce and a half. You would think after that, I could have discerned that Page 3 of my notes was not Page 1, but no, merrily on we go!
Doris, I'll let Rgv Chick give you the details, but Star is her little dog. Who was attacked by a big dog. She fought back but there were wounds incurred that necessitated a couple of trips to the vet. It's a rough world out there.
She was attacked by a much bigger dog last week and a small chunk of her hip (almost an inch in diameter) was ripped off in addition to some punctures and a long scratch that required several stitches. She is doing much better now, but she has a small drainage tube where they patched the chunk that was taken; hopefully it will be removed this coming Wednesday...and the stitches will be removed the following Wednesday.
One of the things I love about Caray is the virtual family who comes together to provide support in times of need and distress regardless of the circumstances. A BIG virtual (((HUG))) to everyone. Thank you all for always being there.
But y'all read like y'all been really
Downin the tequilas. And other delish refreshing drinks.
I love that beto and marina are on speaking terms against. And that she knows she is the love of his life and not the thing lookin doctor lucreepy. She Looks like "thing" from the adams family. With all that hair. I doth not
Like that woman. She evil. She's cold
Blooded. Cold hearted. And she knows beto is not in her future unless she does something devious & down right nasty.
And so She shall. Cuz she evil. This won't end well for her.
Andy where did you hear that about the
Pipe stems arms? I had to laugh when I
Read that. It reminded me of those stick people. Ricky is a very nice stick person, he's just not marina's stick person.
The mooch has been outed. Finally, but
When a snake is backed into a corner it comes out fangs sharp and ready to attack. Louy better watch out.
I want m & b together. Period. More storms on the way before that happens.
JudyB you have a very unique way of telling a story. Or retelling. You are
So fun to read. You bring these silly
People to life in ways the screen writers don't. You should write for them. No don't do that. You're ours, all ours. Lol. Thank you my dear. Thanks for givin us something to smile
About in spite this dark sadness all
Around us.
The patio, we can do it here. Lol.
Sorry your dog was attacked Ms Chick, did the other owner of the big dog apologize? Offer To pay the vet bill?
Glad she's St I alive, sometimes those big dogs kill the little ones. Baddog.
Such a sweet comment Nina. Thank you.
"We do need to find something to smile about in spite of the dark sadness all around us." Well said.
And I agree, Andy's comment about pipestem arms was hilarious.
Chucha is bound to come back worse than ever as you noted. Luis doesn't have any idea yet, who he tangled with!
Remember that today, Anita will be doing the recap. So check on the new page. She has a dentist appointment and wants to watch the episode twice before plunging in, so it will probably be later, like my Prosecco Recaps! LOL
Glad we have this warm and friendly patio to visit when the darkness seems all around.
