“Juntos el corazón nunca se equivoca”

Yay! for something a little lighter than the narco novela binge have been on as of late. LOL This is a spin-off of the “Mi marido tiene (más) familia” series that follows the adventures of Temo and Ari in Mexico City as they start their university education. The title is based on Ari’s favorite saying: “Your heart never makes a mistake.” (Juntos/together: referring to him and Temo) It definitely has a YA (young adult) vibe. Also, it has only 26 episodes which is a definite plus. Tomorrow I will put up a list of characters and more info. I will also do a recap of tomorrow’s premiere episode but do not know if I will be recapping or commenting on a regular basis until I see a few episodes and also if anyone else is interested in watching or recapping.

¡Hasta mañana!

JUNTOS ET CORAZON

Jarifa, it's hard for me to resist anything "Mi familia" related...I have such fond memories.

I did see that a few of our favorites from the show will be in the cast. If this is only 26 episodes perhaps there is a good chance Dragon will air when this ends.

So kind of you to put up a recap. I'll be recapping Reina tomorrow so will likely only be able to watch with half an eye but your summaries are so sensational they speak for themselves.

Thank you!

Diana

OOPSIE!! I posted this page wa-a-a-y too early, but I'll keep it up since we already have comments. Jarifa, looking forward to your recaps. I won't be able to watch this when it airs, but I'll record it to see how it goes.

El Dragon will air on September 30, according to an interview Sebastian Rulli gave on HOY.

DRAGON

Oooh, thank you so much, Alexander; we've been waiting for the actual date!

Ep 67: Part 1 Innocence Comes with a Price

Irma goes into the recording room and tells Charly that she just broke up with Erick who doesn’t understand her work. Charly assumes that Erick is jealous and comments that Erick is very is very immature. Irma wants to continue working on her song, but Charly has other plans… he tells her to take 5 and brings a couple of drinks for them. After Charly urges her to drink, Irma opts to leave..

Wendy and Juanjo are at the doctor’s office. After the doctor assures Wendy that she is fine and she is experiencing the normal effects of a pregnancy, Juanjo suggests that some tests be run to make sure that everything will be okay with the baby, but the doctor reveals that Wendy has already had all the necessary tests… ever since she first mentioned that they were planning for a baby. When the doctor leaves, Juanjo wonders how long Wendy has been planning to get pregnant…without his knowledge. Wendy takes offense and points out that it doesn’t matter…she is pregnant and if Juanjo doesn’t want to be a part of it, she can take care of herself and he can disappear from their lives. Juanjo remarks that he doesn’t do things like that.

At the prison, Lusma approaches Yameli and converses with her about her own wish to sing, but she went down the wrong path. Lusma then warns Yameli to watch her back…someone has already paid for her “welcome.”

Sergio goes to see Vanessa and urges her to listen to him. Erick told him that Charly forbade her from seeing Erick. Vanessa thinks Erick must hate her, but Serg assures her that Erick adores her; he is just waiting for her anger to subside. Vanessa isn’t angry; she just has a lot of mixed feelings. Serg then explains that Erick is just trying to make sense of a complicated situation…and Erick needs her. Later, Vanessa goes to see Erick who wonders why she is there since Charly forbade her from talking to him. After Vanessa comments that she doesn’t want him and Charly to fight because of her, Erick assures her that his problem with Charly has nothing to do with her. Vanessa then asks why Erick defends Lareli; so Erick replies that he just looks at Lareli and knows that she is innocent. Vanessa argues that Lareli is a stranger, but Erick retorts that he knows Lareli well. They argue about Lareli’s innocence until Erick mentions that Lareli has said that it was Toño who shot Diana. He adds that Toño worked for Monchis and that Charly knew him. Erick just wants Vanessa to give Lareli the benefit of the doubt…and to think about things calmly.

Wendy and her mother are at a club listening to a duo, Kapla and Miky. After they finish, Wendy talks them into signing on with Surround Vibes. We’ll FFW…they agree.

Ep 67: Part 2 Innocence Comes with a Price

Next Morning—

Charly sees that Vanessa is up early; so she explains that she has an audition. Charly still has a problem with her modeling, but he will support her and will go with her if she is offered a contract. Vanessa then asks why he slept with Lareli; so Charly explains that Yameli took advantage of him since he was very hurt due to the divorce. When Vanessa asks if Charly truly believes that Lareli killed her mother, Charly reminds Vanessa that he saw Lareli with the gun in her hand. Charly knows that Vanessa liked Lareli very much, but she needs to understand that they never really know a person (just like no one really knows him?)

Up on a rooftop, Detective Bowtie walks as Olmedo approaches and tells him that they have found the former accountant and he is leaving for San Antonio in a couple of days. Bowtie thinks that should give them time to get an arrest warrant. As they walk, a sergeant hands Bowtie the forensic ballistics report. After they look at it, Bowtie tells Olmedo to call in the media…he wants to report the findings before anyone else leaks the information.

At the prison, Vanesa goes to see Yameli…as a favor for Erick. Yameli assures Vanessa that she didn’t kill Diana. After she reminds Vanessa that Diana was her friend, Vanessa wonders why, then, she slept with her father. Yameli responds that it was an error that she will have to pay for the rest of her life. She then reminds Vanessa that her parents were separated and that Charly was unfaithful to Diana many times and their relationship was over. When Vanessa asks Yameli to look her in the eyes and tell her the truth, Yameli looks straight at her and without flinching assures Vanessa that she did not kill her mother. Vanessa wonders where that leaves everything that her father has told her; so Yameli explains that Charly saw her with the gun in her hand and that is true. She then describes what happened that night…and adds that Toño put the gun in her hands to frame her.

Detective Bowtie has his press conference. As he announces the results of the forensics ballistics report, Charly, Juanjo and everyone else listen and have different reactions when Bowtie announces that the results show that Lareli did not take the shot and did not murder Diana. Charly shows much concern while Juanjo, Erick and Serg shout out with joy. After Olmeda explains the findings, Bowtie names Toño as the murderer. Charly quickly calls Toño and points out that Lareli will soon be free and might have evidence against him. After Toño asks if he has the money, Toño assures him that that broad will not get out of prison alive.
Eric, Serg and Lidia discuss Yameli’s innocence. They also discuss that it was Toño who murdered Diana. Lidia looks concerned; she recalls how Toño was so loyal to Monchis and feels sorry for him because he had always been in trouble ever since he was a child.

At the prison, Jack and the attorney meet with Yameli who can’t believe she will be getting out of prison. Jack wishes she could get out right away so he can take her away with him, but he also wants to help Yami bring down Charly. Jack wants to talk to Charly and try to rile him so that he might say something they can use, but Ya,i prefers that Jack stay away from Charly who is very dangerous. Jack, however, doesn’t care…Yameli should know how he feels about her. Yami smiles in appreciation.

Ep 67: Part 3 Innocence Comes with a Price

Vane arrives at Charly’s office and asks if he has heard the news that Lari is innocent. When Charly comments that the Mexican cops are no good, Vanessa snaps back questioning why he can’t accept that Lari is innocent. Charly argues that he saw Lareli with the gun in her hands; he has his reasons for believing that she killed Diana. When Vanessa brings up Toño suggesting that Toño put the gun in Lareli’s hand and questions why Toño would want to kill her mother, Charly feigns ignorance, but admits knowing Toño. Vanessa thinks he should tell the cops what he knows about Toño, but Charly refuses…he has had too much trouble disassociating himself from Monchis. When Vanessa insists on why Toño would want to kill her mother, Charly purports that maybe Toño was jealous of him since Monchis favored him…and he took revenge by killing Diana.

Toño meets with some bad dude and gives him half the money to do away with Yameli. He will give him the other half when La Buitre completes the job.

At the prison yard, Lusma approaches Yameli and warns her to be extra careful that day because Yameli is not supposed to leave the prison alive. After she motions toward La Buitre and her two bad gals, Liz approaches and joins the conversation. Yami asks if they can get her a fork; so Liz goes off to try to get one.

Zaria interviews Juanjo who confirms that someone manipulated the crime scene to make Yameli look guilty; he assures her that it was not a crime of passion. Juanjo then explains the campaign, #thetruthaboutlariandrade; it is a campaign by those who still believe in justice….he wonders how long they will have to wait before Lareli is released from prison. Once they finish, Zaria suggests that she interview everyone who supports Lareli, including Erick who has just arrived. Erick quickly agrees, but Juanjo doesn’t think it’s a good idea since Erick has already had some problems with his family because of his support for Lareli. When Juanjo suggests that it would be better to pressure the media, Zaria agrees, but assures Erick that she will interview him later. Afterwards, Erick practices his new song as Yameli is at the prison yard receiving the fork she asked for and Zaria works on her next report. All of a sudden, at the prison, an alarm goes off and Yameli watches as the guards walk by holding up Lusma who has been severely beaten.

Charly is in a very bad mood and takes it out on his faithful dog, Axel. Axel knows Charly has it in for Lareli since she betrayed him, but if Lareli didn’t do anything wrong then she shouldn’t be in the can. Charly then puts on his best performance and suggests that Toño went in to kill him, and since he wasn’t there, Toño killed Diana. Toño wanted revenge since he thought the Charly had betrayed Monchis.

Ep 67: Part 4 Innocence Comes with a Price

Juanjo and Erick are among a group who has gathered at the prison demanding Yameli’s release. As Juanjo is interviewed and speaks for Yameli, Wendy and Gloria watch from Wendy’s house. Gloria comments that “that woman” has Juanjo under a spell…he should be thereat home with Wendy. Wendy cries that she can’t take it anymore; so she calls Juanjo and tells him that she is in pain…and her mother is not there. Juanjo quickly rushes home (misson accomplished!). Once he leaves, Erick tells Zaria that she should interview him now, but Zaria promised Juanjo that she would not involve him. After Erick insists since he can make his own decisions and suggests that they go to his home where it will be more personal, Zaria agrees.

At Wendy’s house, Wendy feels bad about what she did, but she didn’t know what else to do. Gloria assures her that the only one who should feel guilty is Juanjo.

At the prison, Yameli prepares the fork to defend herself. As she does, she recalls how she was taught to defend herself when she first went to prison (by another Braid Girl). After the guard comes and tells her and Liz to go inside, Yameli sees Lusma who tells her that the ones who are going to tr to kill Yameli were the ones who beat her. As they all walk together, one of the guards grabs Yameli and takes her away. In the laundry room, La Buitre and the two bad gals prepare for their attack with a long knife. The guard and Yameli enter an isolated area; Yameli is to help the inmates…despite the fact that no one else is there. The guard leaves and Yameli walks forward…and is confronted by La Buitre and La Flaca.

Stay tuned for “the fight”…tomorrow…

it is episode 65 not 67

REINA-SOY

Rgv Chick, this is an award-winning short story. Done masterfully, you captured all the excitement and the highs and lows to perfection. Indeed, there were many. Through your words, one can actually feel the emotions, running the gamut from love to hate. The title conveyed it all. Just superb.

"Charly is in a very bad mood and takes it out on his faithful dog, Axel" was my favorite line which is very sadly, always true.

I would like to cut and paste your entire recap but I've used but a few of your excellent observations in my comments.

And Jack. Watching that sweet, concerned, worried expression, it was impossible to even try to listen to what he was saying. Thank you for doing that for us! "Jack, however, doesn’t care…Yameli should know how he feels about her. Yami smiles in appreciation". Yameli, is it really sinking in?? Jack wishes she could get out right away so he can take her away with him". Oh my. Run, do not walk into his waiting arms Yameli. Your hope and salvation is right before you.

Ricardo moved rather quickly to set the record straight. And with expedience. The split scene showing Charly vs. Juanjo's reactions was well done.

So Gloria is now a talent scout? I had to smile.

"At Wendy’s house, Wendy feels bad about what she did, but she didn’t know what else to do. Gloria assures her that the only one who should feel guilty is Juanjo". I have to be honest, as much as I don't want to, I have to agree with mama bear here. How would one feel if it were their daughter? And while Wendy should not have called Juanjo to come, I can't exactly fault her. She wants her husband and the father of her child home. She'll have to do worse before I condemn her.

Vanesa is exhibiting growth as a character. Deep inside, she knows her father has a dark side, although she certainly loves him. I give her credit for visiting Yameli in jail.

It appears Lidia's wheels, initially stalled in gear and now starting to move. "Lidia looks concerned; she recalls how Toño was so loyal to Monchis and feels sorry for him because he had always been in trouble ever since he was a child". There may have been a scintilla of pity in her words, but is there a tiny seed of doubt now planted? If not suspecting that Charly is involved right this second, there will be a painful, raw awakening soon.

It was hard to watch how Lusma was assaulted. As Judy noted the other day, these women are scary.

Rgv Chick, we are beyond fortunate to have you! Every recap is exciting and really, a joy to read. Your time and effort show in every single word. Gracias amiga!

REINA-SOY

I also wanted to mention that Irma has made a choice to stand by her decision. Charly's already coming on to her and plying her with liquor. She's not stupid and knows she will have her hands full keeping his lecherous hands off her.

I know she signed a contract but I'm sure Juanjo could have hired someone to help her break it. I do think she cares about Erick, but she wants and will have more. We don't know the backstory - her mother is dead and her father is an alcoholic but we don't know how and if he mistreated her. I hope she doesn't rue her mistake.

Diana

Good morning Rgv Chick and thanks so much for another riveting recap of a very tense story.

Great title and many people are paying the price for proof of Yameli's innocence--inluding poor, battered Lusma.

I always love the brief scenes of Detective Bowtie on the rooftops, surveying the city and clarifying his thinking. It's like Hercule Poirot smoothing his wee mustache or sipping a cup of hot chocolate. Just the normal work method of a crack detective who's going to solve the case by golly! And soon since it's "ultimas semanas".

The crowd protest scenes always crack me up. Granted these are extras, probably unpaid, but couldn't they be a little more creative in how they wave their hands in the air? I notice one gal in the front of the crowd who evidently was tired, so she more or less just wiggled her finger a little bit. It always looks so wooden. And staged.

And speaking of wooden, Juanjo did show some sweet animation when hearing the good news about the baby's development. But most of the time, the actor seems to be half asleep (and with his mouth half open) so it's hard to root for him as the pareja of beautiful, dynamic Yameli. Alas, even Jack was looking gray and tired yesterday in their prison visit scenes. Maybe it's time to bring back Rizzo for our gal!

Loved these two observations:

Charly knows that Vanessa liked Lareli very much, but she needs to understand that they never really know a person (just like no one really knows him?)

and

Charly is in a very bad mood and takes it out on his faithful dog, Axel.

Perfect description of their relationship. And I am sooo ready for Axel to turn tail and take a big, vicious bite out of Charly!

Thanks as always, Rgv Chick. This is a top-notch production and the recaps are even more top-notch. Mil gracias.

"REINA":

RGV Chick: Enjoyed the recap. Sounds like the Body Count will increase massively before the Gran Final.

Charly is determined to want Yameli DEAD by any means necessary.

REINA-SOY

"And speaking of wooden, Juanjo did show some sweet animation when hearing the good news about the baby's development. But most of the time, the actor seems to be half asleep (and with his mouth half open) so it's hard to root for him as the pareja of beautiful, dynamic Yameli". Oh Judy, that encapsulated this duo to perfection.

And yes, in my drinking in all of Jack, I noticed he did look tired. I'm sure from worry. Juanjo did't look at all tired did he? Ack.

Diana

Chickie...wow ..just wow. I so appreciated the recap because I only watch and have to deduct what is happening through the visuals, and I could not wait to get up this morning and find out what was ssud. I want you to know that I am grateful to you and Diana for recapping because this show and your wonderful, well written recaps have been providing me with a much needed distraction .

Thankfully we did not see Lusma getting beaten up, but seeing the results was awful enough. I am upset just thinking about what is ahead for Yami.

Judyb...yes, I also noticed that Jack was looking "gray and tired" last night.

I know that Wendy got a bad deal, but she was wrong to just decide on her own (well, with her mom) to have a baby . Couples should make this big decision together for the sake of the child and their relationship. One person carries the baby , but both are the parents and responsible for that child .

Oh, Charly, what a tangled web we weave when first, last, and always we practice to deceive. You are bailing as fast as you can , but your ship is going to eventually sink. The sooner , the better. And Axel, despierta , por favor !!!!!

And yes, mom Gloria, now thinks she is also part of Juanjo's biz. Mother in law from hell.

Good Morning, Patio!

Thank you, Anon !:13, Diana, JudyB, Steve and Susanlynn. You all make my day go so much better.

Anon 1:13, it seems that I exceeded my quota for oopsies yesterday. The recap above is indeed for Episode 65, thanks for pointing that out.

Diana, I think Yameli knows very well how sweet, tired-looking (I noticed too) Jack feels about her. I hope that all her smiles don't bring up Jack's hopes too much because she may just burst that bubble once again...but then I have some strong shoulders he can use :-)

I still have a hard time feeling sorry for Wendy. I agree that Juanjo is somewhat of a jerk, but Wendy is being manipulative and stubborn. The ONLY reason she got pregnant was to keep Juanjo in line, not because she actually wanted a baby. She gets upset when Juanjo insinuates this because she knows it's true. Her suggestions that she will raise the baby on her own and he can leave are just more manipulation; she knows Juanjo will not turn his back on the baby.

Diana, "It appears Lidia's wheels, initially stalled in gear and now starting to move... There may have been a scintilla of pity in her words, but is there a tiny seed of doubt now planted? If not suspecting that Charly is involved right this second, there will be a painful, raw awakening soon. I think you are spot on. She looked very concerned and pensive; I'm sure that deep down, she knows that the truth will be something she won;t like.

JudyB, "I always love the brief scenes of Detective Bowtie on the rooftops, surveying the city and clarifying his thinking." Me too! He's turning out to be one clever detective. Charly doesn't have a chance! While the forensic ballistic report was timely and very revealing, I don't understand how they can assume where Yameli was when she presumably shot Diana...am I overthinking?/ Probably...I'll put on my beanie :-) About Juanjo, "But most of the time, the actor seems to be half asleep (and with his mouth half open) so it's hard to root for him as the pareja of beautiful, dynamic Yameli." You got him pegged, PERFECT!!

Steve, yes, Charly certainly wants Yami dead; I'm sure he is in for a disappointment.

Susanly, I am expecting to see Yameli kick some as tonight. How nice it would be if Liz and Lusma showed up to help her.

reina-soy

Thank you, Rgv Chick.

I liked Vanesa this episode. She wasn't too insistent refusing to talk to Serg. When Serg brought up Eric, she felt some guilt about the separation. She reconnected with Eric, Serg, and even Yamelí. And she did it before Yamelí was cleared.

Wendy keeps following the plan. Get pregnant - check. Manipulate Juanjo using pregnancy - in progress.

JUNTOS, EL CORAZÓN NO SE EQUIVOCA

Diana, I wasn’t planning on watching this but since I am so “narco’d out” with novelas, as I said, the familiarity of the comforting MMTF franchise is so appealing. I think you and I were the biggest MMTF fans. Here is hoping it continues in the same vein.

Rgv Chick, glad to hear you will be giving this a looksee.

Jarifa, I may give this a look because there are so many familiar faces. However, isn't Susana Gonzales going to be in it ?

Susanlynn, happy to hear you may give this a look. No, there is no Susana González this time.

JUNTOS, EL CORAZÓN NO SE EQUIVOCA

The story starts after the end of the last chapter of MMTMF when Ari and Temo move from Oaxaca to Mexico City to start their university studies.

"OLD" CHARACTERS FROM MMTMF:

Aristóteles Córcega (Emilio Osorio)--17 year old interested in music and Polita's son

Arquímides--Ari's little brother

Polita (Gabriela Platas)--Ari's mother divorced from Ari's father

Eduardo Rey (Santiago Zenteno)--Polita's boyfriend and a lawyer

Cuautémoc (Temo) López (Joaquín Bondoni)--17 year old interested in politics and Pancho's son

Pancho López (Arath de la Torre)--Temo's father(a successful businessman who came from nothing)

Julio and Lupita--Temo's younger brother and sister

Imelda Córcega (Silvia Pinal)--Ari's grandmother

Dani (Laura Vignatti)--Ari's cousin

"NEW" CHARACTERS:

Ubaldo Ortega (Sergio Sendel)-- Diego's father, Soledad's husband and a politician in Mexico City

Diego--Temo's friend and Soledad's/Ubaldo's son

Soledad Elizalde (Laura Flores)--Ubaldo's wife/ Diego's mother and an artist in her own right

Dora (Helena Rojo) and Nora (Nuria Bages)--Ubaldo's older sisters who work at a pharmacy

Olegario Cervantes--Elsa's husband and Carlota's father

Elsa (Leticia Calderón)--Olegario's wife, Carlota's mother, instructor at the university and head of Ubaldo's campaign

Carlota (Ale Müller)--Elsa's and Oleg's daughter. Ari's, Temo's, and Diego's roommate.

Andrés--Oleg's and Elsa's dead son

Mateo--Ari's classmate and workmate

Thiago--a young popular musician

I hope this helps everyone with keeping all of the characters straight. I better print it up for myself because I am NEVER good with character's names.

Sergio Sendel's presence always piques my interest . . . last time I think I "saw" him was in the cartoon "Un gallo con muchos huevos". I am also interested in seeing Helena Rojo.

A recap will be up later tonight.

Jarifa, the first time I ever saw Helena was as Matilde's dreadful mother in Amor Real. She is terrific in everything she does. I am glad that not all the great old actors have disappeared from Univision.

I have only seen Sergio Sendel as Cell phone throwing villains. I wonder if he will be a villain in this show.

I wonder if a different actress will take over Susana's role or if the writers Have written the character out somehow.

JUNTOS

Susanlynn, I didn’t see the “Susana” character listed at all. The first time I saw Helena Rojo was in my first telenovela: “Por Ella soy Eva”. I really liked her.

JUNTOS

Jarifa, thank you so much for the character listing! I cannot wait to see Sergio
"phone throwing" Sendel and I've mentioned before I just adore Laura Flores. I could watch Laura Vignatti non-stop...

I didn't watch the earlier versions with Pancho López (pre-MF) but I believe he has lost several wives along the way, so they will likely explain Susana's absence somehow.

I first saw Helene in Cuidado con el Angel with Maite Perroni and the lost but missed William Levy.

Rgv Chick, I understand your feelings about Wendy. I'm guardedly optimistic but I expect I will be disappointed as she grows more desperate.

"But most of the time, the actor seems to be half asleep (and with his mouth half open) so it's hard to root for him as the pareja of beautiful, dynamic Yameli." We both loved Judy's line - and yes, perfectly stated.

Almost time! I better drink a quick cup of coffee...

Death is Defied. Again. Part 1

Imagine a girl, whose young life is full of promise. Nurtured with love and fed with kindness, the world seems infinitely hopeful. Gifted with the love of music and graced with the ability to write and sing, the world is her oyster. Yet, destiny has other plans. An irritant arises, sand that will scratch the pearl that is her heart and soul. Charly.

Consumed with ambition and devoid of scruples, he temps Yameli with the promise of mutual love. He schemes, steals and sabotages. She is wrongly incarcerated, alone in her grief as her family has been savagely murdered. Her one happiness, her son, is taken from her and declared dead. Devastated but not destroyed, she merely exists. When she narrowly escapes being murdered, the root of revenge spreads and she assumes a new identity. She sheds all of her beliefs and morals as well as her dignity as her plans progress. Her road to retribution is aided by her guardian angel (Jack). She unexpectedly and joyously finds her son and reconnects with a newly awakened love. Alas, cruel cunning is merciless and she finds herself falsely incarcerated once again. Exonerated but not freed, her life is in grave danger once again…

The lamb is led to the lion den. As Yameli walks down the hall La Buitre and La Flaca stand and stare menacingly. Yameli brandishes her homemade weapon like a sword as La Buitre tells her to calm down. But foul play is afoot as Yameli is slammed from behind with a huge board. With three against one, the tide quickly turns and she is mercilessly beaten and stabbed. Eyes wide open, she lies on the floor bleeding….

Juanjo runs home concerned. He gently insists Wendy go to the hospital and she agrees as he puts a protective arm around her. She smiles.

Zaria begins to interview Erick. She asks about Lari as he ponders his response. He espouses her virtues and musical ability saying she is charming and beautiful. He mentions Diana. Do you want to send a message to Lari Zaria asks? Yes, he does and speaks kindly and positively. Lidia arrives and snippily inquires as to why Zaria is there. Lidia verbally attacks Zaria saying she interfered in her son’s marriage. Strangely, she is silent on the sins of her son. Zaria expresses her rather contemptuous opinion of Charly. That is too much and Lidia orders them to leave. Lidia cannot believe Erick had Zaria there - are you crazy Lidia asks Erick as she stalks away angrily.

Charly’s bought and paid for DJ Mike meet and drink.

Yameli has a nightmare Tono comes in and shoots her. As she struggles to awaken, she shakes with emotion.

At this point, I must interject. Is Yameli still in the prison hospital??? Has she had surgery? Has anyone been told? It doesn’t appear that even Contreras is aware. What is wrong with this picture?

Wendy and Juanjo discuss that they will be good parents although not a traditional family. Wendy stifles tears, bravely smiles and leaves. Sorry, but the truth is I feel badly.

Princess, aka cool Caro arrives. Charly talks her into defending Mora. She makes a perfectly timed appearance at Contreras’ office, just as he was being pushed to talk.

No rest for the wicked as Vanesa calls Charly. He assures her he is all right, just busy. Both Van and Lidia are momentarily relieved although Lidia pushes a bit further and Van confesses she found the gun. Lidia doesn’t seem particularly alarmed. Another call – from Caro. How did it go with Mora? OK she says but it will cost you. Charly looks at his online bank account and looks reluctant to part with what remains.

Finally, the news catches up with life. Or near death.

It appears details are sketchy but it is being reported Yameli was attacked but is alive. After hearing from Erick, Juanjo races to her side.

Axel visits Charly and gives him the news. Is she dead? No, she’s alive Axel asserts. Charly is wild eyed as he struggles to digest this latest news. He calls Tono who I believe is willing to bring Charly with him. Straight to the gates of hell.

REINA-SOY

Greetings Caraymates.

I (wrongly) suspected the emphasis would be on Yameli tonight which is why I focused on her in the prologue (which I always write in advance). I apologize for the length of the prologue but I thought it all needed to be said. I never seem to be able to say in 5 words what I end up saying in 15.

I thought that Yameli's attempted murder was somewhat glossed over. We never saw her being found, nor her surgery or prognosis. She was gruesomely shanked and must have been writhing in pain, but by the time we saw her, she was simply looking uncomfortable. I didn't miss the gory but this tragedy did not receive the time it deserved. Only my opinion.

I hope all have a good night and I look forward to hearing what all of you think.

Diana

JUNTOS EL CORAZÓN NO SE EQUIVOCA CAPÍTULO 1 Tuesday 8/13/19 Part 1

Well, well, well, this was a slice and dice of the first two episodes with a reordering of some scenes. I will try to include the memorable omissions.

The capítulo starts out with adults and young people talking about what it is to be a parent and what it is to be a child growing up and moving on. Polita tries to rouse a sleepy Ari out of bed to get ready for his trip. Is he ready to live on his own? Pancho has a tender scene with Temo as they realize how much they will miss each other. Both of the boys have mixed emotions about leaving home. They then cut out a farewell dinner at a restaurant in Oaxaca with Dani bringing Ari and Temo a set of “Tuppers” of their own to take leftovers with them on the trip. Temo’s brother and sister Julio and Lupita are also there besides Polita and Papancho and little Arqui. They also cut out Pancho and Polita traveling to Mexico City with Ari and Temo and all of the little kids in La Burra (Pancho’s truck)They go singing along with another Burra song. Later, they also have a supper at Ari and Temo’s apartment after driving the 464 kilometers to Mexico City. Pancho buys them a ton of food.

The next scene cuts away to Elsa’s home where she is having a memorial service for her son Andrés two years after his death. His portrait and ashes are on display. Elsa is estranged from both her husband Olegario and her daughter Carlota. Neither live in the same house with Elsa. Elsa wonders why her mother waited two years to have this event. Is she doing it to assuage her guilt? Elsa insists she didn’t make Andrés. . . Carlota reminds her that her brother committed suicide.

At the tennis court, Ubaldo and Diego talk about Diego being out of the house. Diego thinks the move will work for him. Ubaldo reassures him about his marriage to his mother. They are going through a rough patch but all marriages have their ups and downs.

Dora watches her brother Ubaldo’s rally on tv. She is sure he will be the next mayor of Mexico City. Nora is there with Soledad, too. The sisters know that Soledad and Ubaldo are having marital problems. Ubaldo arrives. They need to get ready to go. Dora is so proud of her brother. Diego arrives next.Ubaldo tells them they are what keeps him going. They arrive at Elsa’s service. Soledad brings her a handmade piece of sculpture. All of the women hold hands as Soledad thinks that her greatest mistake was not seeing the signs that things were that bad with Andrés. Mother’s are supposed to take care of their children. She still thinks of him every day and misses everything about him.

REINA SOY

Diana, I was waiting anxiously to read your prologue...and absolutely loved it; it is perfect as written. Thank you for sharing your brilliance with us.

I too thought the emphasis would be on Yameli and was somewhat disappointed that the "attempted murder was somewhat glossed over" and that "this tragedy did not receive the time it deserved." When Yameli was still at the prison, the doctor mentioned that she needed a blood transfusion, but they didn't have her blood type. My first thought was that they would look for her family/friends to donate blood and that was how Erick would find out he is her son...boy was I wrong! Yameli was moved to a nearby hospital (I suppose they had the blood type she needed). They never mentioned surgery; and it seems no one was told until Barbosa, the reporter, announced it in his report.

You amaze once more, Diana; you caught everything and recounted it with your unique flair. I don't have much to add other than the conversation Charly had with DJ Mike and with Toño. Charly wants DJ Mike to play Axel's song which he is claiming to be his...and he wants it launched at the same time Irma's video is launched. DJ Mike advised against it since the song would affect the success of Irma's video. Charly's smirk tells me that that is exactly what he wants.

During his call to Toño, Charly berates Toño for not doing a good job since Yameli is still alive. Toño assures him that Yameli was stabbed and should be dead soon, but Charly still thinks that Yameli can talk to the cops and bring them down. When Toño demands his money, Charly tells him he doesn't have it. Toño chastises him and reminds him that he is the famous Charly Flow and he'd better get him the money...or Charly will end up in jail since Toño has so much on him. So we know Charly has a gun...that look he had at the end was vicious. Would he dare to go after Toño...or Yameli himself???

JUNTOS

Jarifa, thank you for the recap. I haven't read your complete recap since I want to see the episode first, but I did catch that they sliced and diced the first two episodes??? OH NOES!! That's what they did to Doña Flor y Sus Dos Maridos. I hope this TN doesn't have the same fate as Flor--being moved to daytime :-( Knocking wood!!

JUNTOS Part 2

Pancho, Lolita and kids arrive in Mexico City at the apartment building where they are going to stay. The building owners come out to greet them and it is Dora and Nora. Dora moans about them being late. They all introduce themselves and Dora has a lot to say when she finds out that Ari and Temo are “novios”. (She is very “Imelda” like) she calls them “confused” and Polita jumps to their defense. Dora is happy that both of their parents are there because she doesn’t want her apartments to turn into a place of sin because if it does, she will kick them out. Pancho looks ready to growl and bite when Diego and his dad arrive. Temo has a big surprise for them. He is going to live with Ari and Temo. (Diego had a big crush on Temo in MMTMF) .

Once inside, Diego says he helped Pancho find the place. Ari is not happy with him living there. Next a girl appears who announces now they are complete. It mis Carlota and she is the fourth roommate. She asks them to obey the rules and get the rent to her on time. Temo says goodbye to Pancho. They will always love each other. Ari will not be saying goodbye to Polita. She has rented the apartment next door so she can keep the family close. Ari is even more unhappy. He wants to be on his own so he and Temp can start a new life all by themselves. Polita promises to give them their space. Eduardo appears with a suitcase and Polita says they will be like neighbors. She offers to find another place but Ari says no.

Polita promises Dora to be a good renter. Dora hopes so because the same rules apply to her as to the kids.Frankly, she has little confidence in a woman Polita’s age with a younger man and a child. Polita tells Doña “Dura” (hard) that she comes in peace. Nora assures her that under all of that “hardness” is a good heart. They all giggle except for Dora. Little Arqui appears and Dora’s eyes light up.

Ari has a new song for Temo to hear.

Diego has a heart to heart conversation with his roommates. He needs a new home where he can be happy. Carlota need the same thing because her family is a mess, too. Temo says they can become a “chosen family”. They all have a group hug.

Later that night, Nora tearfully opens a metal box and pulls out memories of a long lost love that she evidently still misses. A letter says “ I don’t care what anyone in the world thinks because you are my world.” It is signed “B”. Dora opens a drawer and sadly plays with a pair of baby shoes. She cries.

The next day, Soledad and Diego go to support Ubaldo at a political rally. Temo and Ari are there, too. Ubaldo asks Temo what color tie he should wear. Temo says the yellow one. Elsa contradicts his choice and Mateo joins in supporting her. The yellow one will make him look inaccessible. Ubaldo agrees with Elsa and introduces her to Temo. He, also, informs her that Temo will be working with them. Elsa is not pleased saying that they already have Mateo. She wants to discuss it in private. She likes to choose her own people. Ubaldo tells her too bad too sad, he already made the decision.

JUNTOS Part 3

Ari is interviewing for a job as a waiter by actually waiting tables at a restaurant. He soon finds out that he will also have to dance and entertain to get the job and those tips.

Elsa sends Temo and Mateo out to do a survey. Temo asks about doing them digitally and she sarcastically corrects his grammar besides shooting down his suggestion. The boys set out the to do the surveys. Temo has problems for the get go.

Walking home, Ari is recording a video to send to Temo when a thief runs by and steals his phone. Ari looks at Ubaldo’s business card and thinks of going to his office to find Temo.

Temo and Mateo bring their survey results back to Elsa. Mateo has excelled at the task. Temo has failed. Temp tells her that people just didn’t want to answer the questions for him. She doesn’t care because he didn’t complete the task. She tells Mateo to tell Temp how he failed. Mateo tells him he is too soft , has no presence or self confidence. Elsa asks Temo to defend himself. Temo looks like a kicked dog and says nothing. She tells him he might have come recommended by Ubaldo but she will not tolerate favoritism. Mateo tells him he is not cut out for politics. Temo tries to call Ari.

Carlota who also is working on Ubaldo’s campaign ends up back at the office alone with him. It soon becomes clear that Ubaldo has other plans for her and they end up kissing. Ari appears at the door and sees them. He looks disgusted. Carlota sees him.

Out on the street, Polita sees Diego with a capsule in his hand standing around and looking miserable. When he sees that she has noticed, he drops the capsule on the ground. She wants to know what it is. Diego explains that the capsules are for his problem with depression. His father doesn’t know. He doesn’t want him to think he is weak or crazy. Only his mother knows.Polita won’t say anything. He also doesn’t want his father to know because Andrés, Carlota’s brother, (who worked for Ubaldo) was depressed and killed himself. Diego won’t be doing that. Seeing his parents the way they are hurts him but he wants to be happy.

Ari and Carlota come home the same time. Ari starts to ask if she is Ubaldo’s lover when Dora comes out with the garbage asking about her collecting the rent from her roommates. Temo arrives all upset and hugs Ari which sets Dora off again Temo was upset because he could not reach Ari. Ari explains that his phone was stolen. Carlota sticks up for the boys and Ari talks about his conservative granny even accepting them but Dora can’t be convinced. She does not accept homosexuality. Carlota can be responsible for the group. After Dora goes, the boys thanks Carlota. Ari reminds her of her dead brother Andrés.

JUNTOS Part 4

Carlota decides to tell Ari the truth about the Ubaldo situation.. She isn’t involved with Ubaldo for the joy of it but Ubaldo isn’t forcing her either. She is doing it to get as close as she can to him because she thinks that he had something to do with her brother’s death. He was suffering from depression and her mother was way too hard on him. In a flashback, Elsa is criticizing Andrés for wasting his time. Andrés argues with her. When he started working with Ubaldo, it all turned worse. In a flashback, Ubaldo takes Andrés’ advice over that of Elsa.
Ubaldo and Andrés got closer and closer. Then one day, her brother started acting differently. He didn’t go into work with Ubaldo or answer his calls. He was very depressed. He sent her a last message: he urgently needed her to call him. The next day her brother was found dead. It all happened in relationship to his work with Ubaldo. She makes Ari promise not o tell anyone. He won’t with the condition that they both solve the mystery together. They are family.

Nora is opening up the pharmacy early while Dora is at church so Soledad can get the depression medicine for Diego. It is their secret but Dora is spying on them.

Olegario surprises Elsa at their home with a breakfast. She is not happy to see him. They end up sitting down and eating. He tells her that they both lost a son and he realizes he wasn’t around to support her or Carlota. He doesn’t want his family any more broken than what it is. She tells him their are some breaks that cannot be repaired.

Outside the apartment building, Ubaldo has shown up to take all of the kids to the university for their first day of classes. Soon Polita is there and Soledad appears with the anti depression medication for Diego. Ubaldo wants to know what she got at his sisters’ pharmacy. Polita pretends that Soledad picked up some medication for her “allergies” when Ubaldo becomes too interested in the medication. The kids end up getting a lift with Ubaldo.

As Ari, Diego and Temo all arrive at a lecture hall, Temo and Diego get into an argument over who is going to sit with Temo. Mateo come in and makes fun of that “small town guys” and the seating issue. Ari wonders why Mateo was born thinking he knows it all. Mateo says he has gotten ahead all on his own without seeking charity from others or help from the university. Finally, the instructor comes in quieting them all down. It is Elsa. She informs them that the coexistence at the university are to be healthy, safe and inclusive. She has Mateo and Temo debate minority versus majority rights. Again he is bested by Mateo.

Carlota feels nauseous. She goes to the bathroom and takes a pregnancy test.

After the debate, Elsa goes on with the discussion of another situation where a person has been given a job that that they are not qualified for. They have only been given it for political reasons. What to do? Temo recognizes he is being focused on again and leaves. When Ari goes to follow him, Elsa informs him he will be losing credit for class attendance for the day. Then when Ari asks why she has to treat Temo so badly and tells her that young people want to be heard and not be made to feel less than what they are, Elsa is reminded of Andrés and no longer sees Ari but sees Andrés in his place. Ari/Andrés goes to help Temo.

Ari chases after Temo. Temo talks about how much he has sacrificed to be here and how it is not coming out like he had expected. Ari reminds him that he sacrificed EVERYTHING to be here, too, with him.

At Soledad’s, Ubaldo has found a medical bill for Diego’s psychiatric treatment for his depression and he is angry that she didn’t tell him and worried what it could do to his political aspirations if it got out. He reminds her that she and Diego belong to him and he is the one who gives the orders.

Yikes! I sure hope we get only episode 3 tomorrow. I will be recapping this for the foreseeable future seeing how it goes. If anyone else wants to recap, please let me know. I will happily share the recapping with all takers.

BTW, they cut out Ubaldo asking Diego if he still had feelings for Temo.

Looks like the 25 episode updated remake of “La usurpadora” starts in Sept.

Sorry if there are any typos.

More mañana.

REINA-SOY

Thank you Rgv Chick. Whenever I am uncertain about what transpired (far too much of the time actually), you are there to explain so patiently, kindly and fully what took place.

I knew Irma was mentioned in Charly and DJ Mike's conversation, but did not know how. I'm still a bit in the dark. So, Charly wants to eclipse his new protégé to prove he is the bigger star or is it something else? I'm confused and apologize if this is something that is obvious (but just not to me).

So, did Charly really think Tono would accept he wasn't going to get paid? Excellent point in that Charly may be gunning for Yameli, rather than Tono. That said, does Charly know where Tono is hiding?

I so appreciate the info on the blood transfusion and on Lari being moved, neither of which I caught. Yes, it would be fitting if Erick were to donate and a perfect match were to be made. The true calling of the blood.

Thank you Rgv Chick! You are the best.

Diana

JUNTOS

Jarifa, you did an amazing job with this. I was finishing my recap and was admittedly distracted trying to watch this.

As you know, it takes me a while to know the characters' names and "who" they are. Even watching the previous show, most are new to me and it will take some time to sort them all out.

You captured everything and with much humor tinged with seriousness when needed.

First, for a split second, I wondered if Sergio Sendel was capable of playing somewhat of a galan. Naw! That idea vanished quickly! That said, it's nice to see his familiar, duplicitous, smarmy self. "He reminds her that she and Diego belong to him and he is the one who gives the orders". Yup. His affair with Carlota is horrific.

"Dora has a lot to say when she finds out that Ari and Temo are “novios”. (She is very “Imelda” like)" was fantastic and true!

“Little Arqui appears and Dora’s eyes light up”. Oh my heavens, so did mine! The child is an angel.

“Diego has a heart to heart conversation with his roommates. He needs a new home where he can be happy” was very touching. Diego has always been sweet and good. He always wants to make others happy and is a true and loyal friend. Ari will have to let his still apparent jealousy go. I am sad Diego suffers from depression, a very real disease. I trust his journey will be handled carefully here.

The actresses all looked incredible. I want whatever skin care products they are using...Laura Flores had few scenes last night, I look forward to seeing more of her. Leticia/Elsa is already chewing up the scenery and anyone in it. She is so bad. But so good at it!

Thanks again Jarifa.

Diana

OT

After too long of a dry spell, there were 3 TNs I could not wait to watch: Reina-Soy, Ringo and Dragon.

Well, I was able to watch one - Reina. And oh, what a wonderful ride it is!

I am beyond disappointed that Ringo will air at 3. But the real kick came when I saw Dragon will air at 10.

It appears the 3:00 p.m. time slot is an increasingly important one to Uni and this seems to be a good time for many on the patio.

But I'm starting to wonder if prime time even matters?

I was so hopeful Dragon would air at 9! I simply cannot stay up until 11 so I sadly must cross this off my list.

I'm going to savor every remaining second of Reina. I've been commenting on 2 TNs recently that I don't watch and it's really tough.

If nothing airs at 9 that isn't recapped. I may have to leave the patio for a while but will cross that bridge when I come to it.

Diana

Diana, thanks, for your kind comments. As for Sendel, you hit it on the head with “it’s nice to see his duplicitous, smarmy self”. You can’t get much more smarmy than that. Yes, May I partake of those skin care products, too? I was happy to see Polita with Eduardo. Little Arqui sure is better styled this time around. Depression awareness seems to be a worthy PSA. Our PSA list from MMTMF was never ending, will it be here?

Rgv Chick, this got very good ratings in Mexico so I don’t understand the cutting from the very start. One would think they would want to set the scene carefully at the beginning. It has only 26 episodes now only 24 to go. Geez!

It was fun seeing a few of the old MMTF crew. For me, this seems to have the same “feel” as the earlier shows. With the mystery of Andrés’ s suicide, Carlota having sex with Ubaldo to try to solve that mystery, Dora’s “Imeldaness”, Elsa and Mateo’s cruelty towards Temo and a couple of loves lost, there is just enough of distasteful reality to make sure we aren’t in an “after school special.” : )

JUNTOS

I will try to remember to title all of my comments with JUNTOS.

"REINA":

Diana: Law enforcement agencies better rescue Yameli fast. As for Wendy, she needs to go away.

Jarifa: Charly will up the ante even further to make damn sure Yameli is DEAD.

REINA SOY

Diana, thank you so much for another great retelling. I would be in the dark without your recaps. Your introductory paragraphs were wonderful. We needed a reminder of where this story started now that it is coming to a close (sniff). Reina is the best telenovela I have seen in a long time, and sharing it with the Love!y folks on this patio has been something that I look forward to every day. I once read that different cultures have different writing styles , and for Americans , we like to tell you what we are going to tell you, tell you, and then tell you what we told you. General- specific details- general.

I was researching something on my tablet , so I missed the brutal attack on poor Yam. The way they handled it was odd. Suddenly, Yam is in the hospital , but Erick and Juanjo are just going about their daily lives.

Charley is starting to look unhinged as he checks his dwindling finances and frets about Tono ridding him of Yam whom he did not effectedly seduce and bring under the magic spell of the Flow. Just wait until Charly finds out that the woman he knows as Lari is, in fact, the young girl he used and abused and betrayed so long ago. Still, despite his life falling apart , he is focused on seducing yet another young thing who is probably about the age of his daughter. At the same time, he grins as he pushes Axel down to heel and takes credit for his song. What anvil is dangling above that big, puffed up head as he sits in front of that bigger than life photo of himself ? Charly, You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you.

P.s. The actor playing Charly has done an excellent job portraying this arrogant, corrupt, loathsome character.

"Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. " I forget who said that.

REINA

Diana...Like Rgv Chick, I loved every word of your sensitive, thoughtful recap. Especially this section:

Devastated but not destroyed, she merely exists. When she narrowly escapes being murdered, the root of revenge spreads and she assumes a new identity. She sheds all of her beliefs and morals as well as her dignity as her plans progress.

Such effective writing. You were able to encapsulate the thrust of many many episodes just in those three sentences. Kudos to you my friend.

I thought our fine man-child Charly was looking very shop-worn in this episode. I wondered if the make-up artists were doing something to make him look tawdry rather than hawt, because his outside is really showing the ugliness inside.

Thank you my friend for always rising to the occasion (something our Charly doesn't do) and giving us another fine recap of a riveting episode.

And Susanlynn, love your shoutout to "You're so Vain". Perfect.

Judyb, " looking very shop-worn" "tawdry rather than hawt"....wow, you do have a way with words, my dear.

These te!enovelas all revolve around love, true love, betrayed love, unrequited love. Last night, I happened to surf into a TED talk by Helen Fisher, an anthropologist who has been researching romantic love and doing brain scans on people who are in love. Absolutely fascinating as are many of the TED talks.

JUNTOS

Jarifa...thanks so much for that fine recap. I do not plan to watch this but your dedication to the CarayCaray site is wonderful and adds so much to people's enjoyment. I'm afraid that I've had all I can handle of the Mi Marido Tiene Familia extensions, but hope that your recaps garner the fine Patio of Commenters that they deserve.

REINA

Those Ted Talks are fabulous Susanlynn. I bet those brain scans on people in love are bright colored flashing lights indeed. Remember when we were walking on clouds, couldn't stop smiling, and didn't seem to need any sleep? Who needs sleep???!!!!!I'M IN LOVE I'M IN LOVE I'M IN LOVE WITH A WONDERFUL GUY!!!!! (South Pacific)

So happy that you and Hub were able to keep that love going through so many wonderful years together. Truly a once in a lifetime love.

Things are chaotic here. We have our own tumultuous telenovela going right now and it's painful, but CarayCaray offers a brief respite from this misery. Thank goodness for this site. And Ted Talks. And you and Diana and Rgv Chick and Jarifa.

REINA-SOY

Susanlynn, your "Charley is starting to look unhinged as he checks his dwindling finances and frets about Tono ridding him of Yam whom he did not effectively seduce and bring under the magic spell of the Flow" was simply outstanding...Wow. All that we needed to know and more.

Your kind words are truly appreciated.

"At the same time, he grins as he pushes Axel down to heel and takes credit for his song. What anvil is dangling above that big, puffed up head as he sits in front of that bigger than life photo of himself?" was also fantastic.

In general, I prefer to think of villains rotting in jail, alone with their murderous memories. I'm starting to think that Charly will not survive but will die with the knowledge the son he abused and mistreated will be lost to him forever.

Thank you for your generous words Judy. "I wondered if the make-up artists were doing something to make him look tawdry rather than hawt, because his outside is really showing the ugliness inside" could not have been more perfectly descriptive. This ensemble cast has been truly amazing.

Thank you friends - your support and kind words mean so much.

Diana

((((judyb)))) so sorry that your own telenovela is churning . Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. After so many years of having the comfort and support of your wise words and advice, I would be honored if you knew that I am here for you.

Jarifa..thank you for your excellent , detailed recap. I only saw part of this first episode. So many new characters. I almost did not recognize Sergio. The actors and actresses that I recognized all seemed to appear older than the last time I saw them..excrpt for Helena who seems to look younger ! I will try to watch tonight.

Juntos

Jarifa - thank you, thank you. Without your recap I would have been lost. I watched it and caught maybe a third of what was going on. I guess what gives me the creeps is Ubaldo's relationship to the dead Andre and the living Carlota.

Great recap!

I am back to Univision for the Mas familia spin-off. Excellent recap, Jarifa, and it filled in a lot of blanks for me. It's bad enough when the network slices and dices a tn at the end of a series, but at the beginning is really counter-productive. Ubaldo and Carlota? Yuck! Not even if Ubaldo had murdered Carlota's brother! And Carlota is pregnant? Double yuck! As a very recently retired university professor, I have to say that Elsa behaved both unethically and cruelly in her treatment of Temo in class. And threatening students? Showing favoritism to one student over another? Awful!

JUNTOS

Thanks, all, for stopping by the patio. Looks like this is going to be a quick but fun one. What a pace of events last night!

Susanlynn, so true about everyone looking older. Helena Rojo is still quite striking.

Anon, glad the recap helped. The episode was jam packed. It is nice having a mystery from the very start.

SpanProf, congrats on your recent retirement. Good call on Elsa’s behavior in the classroom. And she is the one moaning about Ubaldo showing favoritism with Temo? There is something twisty and wrong in her head. I can see why her son was not a fan. She is as “dura” as Dora. We haven’t seen Imelda yet but she is in the credits. I wonder when she will pop up.

JUNTOS. Thanks, Jarifa! And I could swear that the actress playing Polita has had botox injections. :)

JUNTOS

JudyB, thank you for your kind words. I appreciate them. FYI: I have read several places that Juan Osorio decided before Juntos was even filmed that’s there would NOT be a second season of Juntos. It was time to move on. I found that interesting. Here is hoping we get to recap something together sometime!

SpanProf, very well could be. I will now be looking at Polita more closely.

Diana, I, too, am sorry Dragón will be on at the latest slot. I prefer the 9/8 C slot myself.

JUNTOS

Remember JUNTOS is on one hour later 10/9 C time tonight.

Why is Sergio Sendel not portraying Vicente in this novela? Did Pancho see Ubaldo?

Maybe Ubaldo abused Andres, who then committed suicide? Or Andres was gay, and Elsa was too harsh on him for it?

MIRADA

Judy, sending you waves of love and prayers. If they give you but a small amount of the peace and comfort you have given many of us over the years, may it be a soothing balm at the very least.

Diana

JUNTOS

Anon, I guess we will just have to see how the story unfolds.

OT

JudyB, hope things are going better on your end soon. Sending good thoughts your way.

JUNTOS

Jarifa, interestingly I saw an article in a New York newspaper (on my phone news) written about this telenovela as the first Mexican telenovela to feature a gay couple as the main protagonists, rather than a side story. And quoted several professors from different universities in the US who teach media studies about how Mexico was lagging behind Brazil in some of this openness in their TV fare--but was changing. Some backlash of course. And they also mentioned Mi Marido Tiene Mas Familia and Amar a Muerte which both featured gay couples. And which I both watched. So felt like this old lady was on the cutting edge! LOL

And thank you for those good thoughts. Next to pets, I think CarayCaray is a wonderful source of unconditional love. And boy, it sure feels good. Ditto to Diana and Susanlynn. May I always be here for you as you are here for me.

Is Reina soy on tonight or are we getting futbol ?

Susanlynn, no Reina Soy tonight. Only Juntos will be aired and it is being bumped to 9PM...for just today.

JUNTOS

Jarifa. what a superb job you did in recounting SO MUCH that happened. I, as others, was hoping to see a lighter side of Sergio Sendel, but it seems he is as odious as ever. Very interesting storylines will give this a jumpstart, but geez, everything is to be resolved in 24 episodes?? Hold on to your hats folks, this is going to be a fast and furious roller coaster ride!

Thank you, Jarifa!

JUNTOS

JudyB, thanks for the info. Very interesting. We are still on the cutting edge —some of the time! : ) I sure agree that CarayCaray is indeed a very special place and I value our community and the friendships that we have here.

Susanlynn, no Reina tonight, Juntos on an hour later than usual.

Rgv Chick, “fast and furious roller coaster ride” is perfect!

JUNTOS, EL CORAZÓN NO SE EQUIVOCA Capítulo 2 8/14/19 Part 1

Soledad tells Ubaldo that she took Diego for psychiatric treatment for the sake of their family. Didn’t he realize Diego was falling apart? Why is Diego so depressed and why did they have to hide him going to a psychiatrist anyway?

Still at the university, Temo and Ari discuss their move to Mexico City and agree it was a shared decision. Ari warns Temo how hard politics can be. He doesn’t want to see him suffer. Temo knows and sees it as a character building experience where he can get stronger and stop being just Ari’s shadow. He wants to be useful.

Big sigh of relief. Carlota is not pregnant.

Soledad asks Ubaldo what is more important: his campaign or his family? Of course his son is important to him BUT what would people say if they knew Diego was depressed. She blames Ubaldo for not really accepting Diego as he is. He does not agree. He thinks the problem is that Diego never really got over Temo.

Diego tries to lighten things up between Temo and Ari and gives them passes to a place he knows they will enjoy because they are super sappy. Temo has to laugh. Ari is still not too sure about Diego.

Ari runs into Mateo in the bathroom and they get into it. He calls Ari a small town guy again and Ari is offended and gets angry. He wants to be called by his given name. Mateo sees Ari just as bad at debating as Temo if he reacts to a term that really does describe him. Ari has a hard time containing his anger.

Elsa is walking around outside of the university thinking about what Ari told her. She runs into daughter Carlota and warns her about cutting her class and having to fail her if she cuts twice more. As the conversation gets more contentious, dad Oleg appears and wants to take both of them out for lunch. Elsa tries to get out of it but gives in.

Diego tells Temo he doesn't Want his parents to get divorced. He knows that his father is not proud of him. He only accepts him being gay because it suits his purposes. An upset Ari tells the guys about Mateo. Ari really doesn’t want to get into it because his scholarship is on the line. Temo tells him to just let it go and not to get angry. Ari says there are some things you just can’t ignore.

Polita heads around the city looking for a job. She has no success because she is too old, to experienced, she has no class, etc., etc., etc.

Soledad Asks Dora why she told Ubaldo about Diego. She thought they were friends. Women need to support each other. (I thought it was a medical bill that alerted Ubaldo but it was a note from his busybody sister Dora) Dora sees that as a conflict of interest because she also values her family and refuses to hide things from her brother Ubaldo. Soledad says it has to do with her son’s privacy. Dora only wanted to help. Depression is so serious She wasn’t trying to be against Soledad. Nora suggests that they all get together with Elsa for some coffee.

JUNTOS Part 2

Oleg, Elsa and Carlota go out for lunch. Elsa is suspicious of him suddenly wanting to be around. He only wants to be sure they are all fine. Carlota looks happy.

Ari and Temo use the passes Diego gave them. It turns out they were free or a butterfly garden where they delight in all of the butterflies and especially those coming our of their cocoons. They are like two little kids full of wonder.

Soledad runs into Polita at the end of her job search in front of the apartment building. Polita tells her about her failure to find a job. Soledad offers to ask around if her friends know of any jobs for Polita. She also invites Polita to come over to Dora’s for coffee with the other women. Polita is not too sure because she knows Dora can’t stand her. Soldad thinks she will fit right in. Diego arrives on the scene

Nora and Dora have their issues. It seems that Nora has a a huge black a blue mark on her arm where Dora grabbed her and she is not happy. She hasn’t apologized either which is nothing new. Dora says she didn’t realize her own strength and that she was afraid of losing control. Nora says that having to be in control is her problem and there are things she will never be able to change. Dora says in spite of it all she still loves Nora. Nora knows.

Back at lunch, Oleg admits to not being the best husband or father but he wants to try. They aren’t divorced yet. They can spend more time together. He wants an answer for the two women he loves most in the world. Carlota is smiling and Elsa looks panicked. Elsa teles him she cannot give him a decision today. He says he can be patient. He at least wants to see them. Carlota wants to give her father another chance. She gets a phone call from Ubaldo which she hides and doesn’t answer. Elsa gets a call from him, too, and uses it as her excuse to get out of there. Work calls.

Diego and his mom have a snack on the street. She asks how he is doing and if he is getting used to his medication. She tells him that his father found out about his treatment for depression.

Ubaldo has called Mateo and Temo into his office. Elsa is there, too. He has a job for them. He shows them a photo of Isarnio Caballero. He explains that he owns a shipping fleet specializing in the transport of medicine and that could be of great help to the campaign. Elsa adds that Ubaldo cannot talk to him directly because of appearances. Ubaldo adds that whoever convinces him to get involved in the campaign will get a job in the campaign. Temo wonders if the job is to big for them. “I can’t” doesn’t exist for Ubaldo.

Ari is busy working at his restaurant when he sees a horde of girls chasing after a young musician Thiago who hides in the restaurant.

Mateo confronts Temo with the fact that Ubaldo clearly favors him. It must be because he wants a gay on his team so it speaks to inclusion. He suggests that Temo do something to show why he is the favorite. They are at the country club where Isarnio plays tennis every afternoon.

Soledad and Elsa are at Dora’s and Nora’s place for their get together. Coffee is served. Soledad wants to talk about her marriage. Polita comes bouncing in with little Arqui. Dora asks what she is doing there.

Ubaldo talks to Diego in his office and confronts him about lying to him about his depression by hiding it from him. His campaign could have been ruined because of him.

Ari introduces himself to Thiago.

Temo and Mateo have lunch as they observe and wait for Isarnio. Mateo has no problem with Temo himself. It is just the way he presents himself. He must be used to everything always going his way. Mateo knows all about Temo’s family’s background: how they can from nothing and now are one of the most powerful families in Mexico. He thinks it is good to know one’s enemies. Then you can exploit their weaknesses to overcome them.

JUNTOS Part 3

Ubaldo continues to browbeat Diego for not telling him. What if the press got the information? It would be a scandal. That is why Diefgo should have told him. If he doesn’t appear to be able to control his own family, how will anyone believe he can govern a city? Ubaldo uses Andrés as an example. He disobeyed Ubaldo and look what happens to him. Ubakdo asks why he is depressed.

Elsa tells the other women that she invited Polita. They might learn a few things from her. Dora says if she wanted to learn things from a woman like her, she would go to the market . Polita adds then Dora cold buy herself a heart. Elsa blames Dora for starting it all. Polita tells Dora, she is nothing new. She lived with a mother-in-law who reminded her every day that she wasn’t good enough. It took her a long time to get ahead in life but now she realizes she deserves love, respect and to be happy. She is fighting to benefit her children. Elsa adds that all women need to support each other. Soledad welcomes her to the club. They bring out a plate of cookie that goes into Polita’s ever-present Tupper.

Diego tells his father how lost he feels and wishes his father could understand. Ubaldo thinks he is still in love with Temo. He tells him there are so many fish in the sea. He is still young. If he really loves him, he thinks Temo could make him a better man. Maybe Diego needs a bit of Temo’s determination.

Soledad asks where Polita gets all of her energy dealing with little Arqui. Polita says as a mother you just feel like doing everything. Dora who has been enjoying Arqui playing suddenly looks sad. She abruptly leaves.

Mateo and Temo are playing tennis with Isaurio and his ladronee. The two old guys win. They all shake hands at the end of the match except for Isarnio who refuses to shake hands with Temo.

Before leaving the refuge of the restaurant, Thiago gives Ari his number for him to call him tomorrow with any questions he may have. It turns out Ari has his music on his channel.

As Isarnio, his partner and the boys have some refreshments, Isarnio says “the little flower” can just go asks Mateo what he wants. Temo stick up for himself demanding to be recognized with his name. Mateo answers Isarnio’s question. They want his transportation fleet. Isarnio says they have it. He says the **** can go cry somewhere else. Temo gets indígnant. Isarnio makes another crack about them letting young ladies in and then leaves. Temo gets out of there next.

Polita tells Eduardo that she thinks if she had more education like at the university she would have a better chance at a decent job. He loves the idea and is behind her.

Elsa, Nora and Soledad track Dora down in her room. All for one and one for all. They tell her that Polita has been through a lot, too. They also realize that being around her son has moved Dora. Elsa talks about the loss of the child being the worst thing for a mother. He she had come to terms living with that, but she hasn’t. She never saw her baby grow up. They snatched him from her in the cruelest way possible.

Ubaldo assures Diego he is going to find a way to make him feel better. He calls Carlota so they can see each other tonight.

JUNTOS Part 4

Mateo goes after Temo and tells him not to be a crybaby. He shouldn’t take it personally. It was just a competition and he lost. He offers to teach Temo a thing or two whenever he is ready. Temo storms out saying he will learn on his own.

Ubaldo is dong an appearance at a school that has just received all of the medicine they need and plenty of toys. Mateo and Temo arrive there. Temo enjoys seeing Ubaldo playing and interacting with the children.

Ubaldo asks the boys who is staying and who is going from his team. Temo says he is going because he failed at the task. Mateo grins.

Dora and Nora are out shopping. Dora buys some toddler clothes with little Arqui in mind. She tries to talk Nora into some frumpy “age appropriate” clothing.

Ubaldo announces that neither boy is going. He is dong what he wants irregardless of what Elsa or anyone thinks. Isarnio is his friend and the experience was only a test. They both have character and that is why he needs them both. Mateo goes to see Ubaldo and he keeps him waiting on purpose. Ubaldo watches him from his office. He finally has him come in and ignores him at first. He tells Mateo he doesn’t have a lot of time. Mateo knows his campaign slogan. “Ubaldo Ortega cumple el corazón” (Ubaldo Ortega fulfills your heart). Ubaldo wants to know what problem he has with Temo working there. Mateo really wants to know why Temo is his favorite. Ubaldo is not being fair to him. Ubaldo looks peeved.

Elsa is telling Temo one more time how he was forced upon them and how she doesn’t tolerate nepotism. She wants to know why he would accept an assignment that he wasn’t going to win. Temo explains that people who think they can do something to benefit society have to do it. All people deserve the same opportunities. She sees that as a very romantic view of the world. Temo says it is only that if they do nothing to make it a reality. Elsa goes on telling him how hard, cruel and difficult the world of politics is for women and .... Temo adds gays. He is ready to face it all. She is going to put him through every kind of test because she wants to see what he is made of. She wants deeds and not words. If he has any talent for this, she will be the first to recognize it.

Ari talks to Polita about Thiago and all of his fans. He realizes that nobody knows him in Mexico City. She feels like a failure and his manager. He says no way. She advises him to take it easy and realize he is in a new city. Ari wants his dream to come true and adds if she helps him, they will achieve ti all together.

Mateo adds that he can see where Temo would be useful to help show diversity in the campaign. Ubaldo reminds him that he can bring him down anytime. So many other people would like to be in his place. He has him repeat what he has told them about a mission: he will complete any mission given to him and understands that anything that he does can be denied by his boss. Ubaldo informs him that his mission is to cause problems between Ari and Temo.

Yikes, that last scene with Ubaldo and Mateo was creepy!

Jarifa, thanks so much for all the details. I forgot that thus show was on !set night, so I appreciated your recap. I thought the turbo was on all night.

I am sorting out all the names, and after reading this second recap, I finally think I know who is who. I was getting Soledad and Elsa mixed up. Elsa is Oleg's wife and Ubaldo's campaign manager and the twins' sister inlaw???? And Soledad is Ubaldo's wife and the twins' sister in !aw????? I am right?

Wow..Dora, Ubaldo, Mateo , and Elsa are wicked nasty. Then, we have The recipients of all the nasty..Ari, Temo, Polita, Diego. Here we go. How does Pablo fit into this story? Any explanation about where his wife is ?

Turbo?????.was supposed to be futbol . Autocorrect also the changed it to "turnip."

Susanlynn, the autocorrect drives me crazy, too. It is going to take me a while to really remember everyone’s name in this one. I always have to use a list and sometimes that doesn’t even work as I go typing merrily along. As far as I know, Elsa isn’t related to Nora and Dora only Soledad is through Ubaldo.

Okay...Jarifa...thanks for clearing that up.

Excellent recap as usual, Jarifa! Lord, I missed them when I was watching a Telemundo series (Betty en NY) that no one seemed to be commenting on. (Perhaps because it's the 4th version of that story?). A few observations: 1. Ubaldo should never be mayor of any city! 2. Is Arqui in danger of being kidnapped? Dora certainly seems obsessed with him. 3. In the US Dora would probably lose her pharmacist's license for sharing private medical information. 4. This is probably the 1st tn in which a politician tries to get his gay son to take up with (and eventually marry?) the gay son of a wealthy powerful man. The heterosexual version of this trope is pretty common though. 4. Carlota shouldn't even be taking a class from her mother. What kind of a university is this, anyway?

JUNTOS

SpanProf, I agree that the whole idea of Ubaldo accepting Diego possibly marrying Temo to definitely be a new tn twist because of the homosexuality factor with the wealth/power of Temo’s family being the reason. “What kind of university is this, anyway?” Indeed! Only in telenovelas . . . I hope little Arqui isn’t kidnapped.

JUNTOS

Jarifa, thank you for the excellent recap.

I didn't see last night and frankly with everything you recounted, am feeling left in the dust. This seems to be going a bit too fast and furious for me.

I enjoyed your "They are like two little kids full of wonder".

"Mateo knows all about Temo’s family’s background: how they can from nothing and now are one of the most powerful families in Mexico. He thinks it is good to know one’s enemies. Then you can exploit their weaknesses to overcome them". Ack

I felt for Polita, always having to try harder to get accepted, a continual battle. Still, lose the tupper Polita. That would be a good start.

I am happy to see she and Ari still have a strong bond.

I hope to catch this tonight. Thanks Jarifa!

JUNTOS

Diana, yes! ! “Lose the Tupper”!! I love the character but wanted to cringe when the Tupper popped out.

Juntos

Thanks, Jarifa. The story is more complex than I expected. So glad you're recapping.

The four women seem unlikely pals to me. Two of them are so mean.

JUNTOS

Niecie, , so true about the complexity of the story. I wasn’t expecting that either.
